I’m flashing back on that military veteran involved in a shooting. Before it happened he said that the CIA was in his head and he couldn’t get anyone to take him seriously.
That was the guy who flew from Alaska (I think) to the airport in Florida? Oddest thing, and then he and the story dropped right off the front pages and was never heard of again.
That’s the one. If I understand what Q is saying, they are doing this to military who have been wounded in action and have PTSD. So they end up worse off then they were before. NY Guy, They used to tell us that people only had so many brain cells and when one was destroyed, it was permanently gone. In the early 1970’s my Sister-in-Law had to have a brain cyst removed. She had to learn to walk read, write and talk again. She improved enough to come with her husband across country to visit me. I barely could tell any difference in her by then. She took me aside and asked me if she was crazy because of the surgery and part of her brain was gone. I laughed and told her that brain cells just make new pathways to replace the damaged ones and she relaxed. She recovered completely.
It takes some time to heal but it does heal.

I strongly believe that using veterans is part of discreditation of our military. Use the enemy’s resources against the enemy. It’s straight out of Bezmenov. It has such a HUGE demoralization value.
Yes it does. It is kind of a tidy solution though. Military provides lots of able bodies and brains to mess with and limited oversight. Of course they touch those nasty guns which everyone knows impart evil just by someone touching them, so the military is automatically suspect for that. Plus they aren’t soyboys so there’s another reason to look with great suspicion on the military, at least in the minds of lefties.
There’s already a fair bit of prejudice against former military in certain employment circles because they are seen as damaged goods; you know, they all have PTSD.
And so these evil SOBs take this and use it for their own purposes providing the “cannon fodder” to wind up and send out there on mass shooting escapades and then when it comes out they are military or vets, oh….! Well, you know they are part of that gun culture, and they come back deranged so no surprise here that they are running around shooting up our kids (or whatever). And so the narrative is reinforced.

Just a couple of comments – re: his supposedly “honorable service” in Iraq because he received ARCOM, Combat Badge, and GC medals – they mean next to nothing, in reality – just don’t screw up too bad and you can get one of those. I was very proud of my ARCOM until just a few weeks later when another woman got one who was useless as teats on a boar hog and, TBH, a terrible “soldier!” Serve w/out any screw-ups and EVERYONE gets a GC medal, and the combat badge came just as a result of being present in Iraq. They also address the issue of putting vets on the gun-ban list simply because they need assistance with their finances. This was an O.B.A.M.A. plan that was carried over, unfortunately. Deb Fischer tried to tell me that part of the bill was amended but I don’t believe her for a second!

Is the CIA really that unaccountable or does it just seem that way to outsiders. If there are those who’s responsibility is to keep it in check, do they look the other way to give themselves denyability.

This media thing is interesting. PDJT has hit them, hard, from the beginning. And I’m glad that he did and continues to do so as they are horrible and deserve worse than the way he treats them, frankly.
But it has been interesting, too, to observe. The whole “Enemy of the People” thing that really irks the talking heads. But he doesn’t let up, no matter how tight they clutch their pearls. You might think he would leave “Enemy of the People” out of his routine given how much garbage he has taken for it, but nope, he keeps it up.
PDJT is very honest. He must have something “Enemy of the People” level or he wouldn’t keep saying that. I don’t think this is hyperbole or exaggeration, not given Q’s drops and those absolutely mindblowing Maggie Haberman coded tweets.
I’ve got to try to get some more sleep if I can but I am dying to know. Something’s coming. Let’s see, what’s that saying? When you see the light at the end of the tunnel it just might be THE TRAIN?

Will you people ever stop? It was a pillow on his head, not his face! As in the top of his head (the hairy part). He died of a heart attack because he had sleep apnea and DID NOT USE his CPAP breathing machine.
I have COPD/apnea and I have been told by several doctors that failure to use the machine is very dangerous to my life and also that as the COPD progresses, it causes a heart attack usually during sleep.
Scalia would have been told these same things yet he did not use his machine the night he died, according to the same person who described the pillow. He most likely committed suicide because he was a very sick man (physically) and I speculate he was tired of the struggle to live.
If you are so convinced he was murdered, file a FOIA for his medical records.

NF You asked me earlier today if I had links to where I got my understanding of how our brains work. I read everything growing up and still do. You mentioned Dianetics by Hubbard. I read it and learned one thing from it that really helped me. Hubbard said that we tend to play the same tapes over and over in a relationship and that if we want to make a change, then we must recognize the tape, change our normal reaction to the opposite and both parties have to stop and think which breaks the tape. It works. Once the tape is broken, then we can have a real interaction. I know that muscle memory is real and scientifically verifiable now but I don’t remember it being in Hubbard’s books.
I read The Power of Positive Thinking when I was a teenager and really made Peale’s ideas a primary factor in my life. I was surprised that President Trump is a strong believer in The Power of Positive Thinking. I could see that in him but I did not expect him to say how important it is to live by those ideas. Dr. Peale made Christ a focus of everything he taught.

I did very well in school but at home I was always made to feel that I was not good enough. I kept trying to understand what was wrong with me and discover how to be good enough. I read hundreds of books and articles about our mind and how it works. I did meditation for a while. I took classes in Actualizations and other such disciplines. They all turn out to be roads to nowhere.
I thought it was so interesting that I ended up back where I started. I became a Christian at 11 and studied Scripture. I then studied everything else until I was 50. I finally got to the end of the science – so -called and came back to God and promised to believe Scripture and assume that if I didn’t understand it, then it was a sign of needed growth in me and not a sign that God should change to fit modern times.
Science-so-called will never get to the truth because they want to leave God out of it. A few scientists are beginning to see that there is more to a human being than they will ever be able to explain without putting God first. I think their new terms are an admission of this fact. Neurogenesis and Neuroplasticity are just two. To me they express the understanding that In the Beginning God Created us and gave us the command to repent which simply means to change our mind and admit that He is God and we are not. We are to believe that God loves us, sent His Son Jesus to die to save us and sent His Holy Spirit to guide us and console us. When we know that, things just fall into their correct place and we are happy regardless of our circumstances.

Right now, so-called “science” (the art of “seeing”) is almost COMPLETELY focused on the physical. On the brain, rather than also (and FIRST) on the mind. The bias is system-wide, and has hampered BIGLY the ability of scientists to make truly revolutionary breakthroughs.
Put bluntly, the entire edifice of what scientists call “knowledge” is a bottom-up endeavor (i.e., physical first). Theology – the study of God – is the top-down approach (i.e., spiritual / mental first). Furthermore, when trying to attain understanding / knowledge – when trying to find ORDER – this top-down approach comes FIRST. So, scientists have it backwards!
This is what I’ve concluded, using all the wits and wisdom, all the IQ and EQ, that I possess.
One must BELIEVE first (optical thinking), and study that. Only afterward may one study DISBELIEF (critical thinking), and be able to put such disbelief in the proper context: SUBJUGATE to belief.

I have come to the conclusion that if a scientist does not believe in God, he is not very intelligent. In the 1950’s our medical establishment decided that if they just jacked us up like a car and changed, repaired or replaced parts, then we would be just fine. Our churches got rid of those old fashioned fairy tales called miracles and gave us a world without out love or supernatural happenings.
Anyone who can live in this world and not see God working is not paying attention to basics.
We are a miracle and we live in a miracle.
Scientists cannot produce life. All they can do is produce more and more complicated explanations and theories of how this all magically happened one day by accident.
I was explaining their belief in the Big Bang Theory to my son when he was 40 and telling him that God created the world. He was telling me that he was taught the Big Bang Theory in school and what I was saying was totally wrong and is not what they taught.
A week later Discovery channel had a program on about the Big Bang Theory and we watched it together. It was interesting to watch his dismay as they were explaining the theory. He just kept saying, “That is the stupidest thing I ever heard”. He ended up agreeing that God did create the universe. He was very bright and was a mechanic. He knew that if you just throw a bunch of dust into a space and wait, a car does not drive out all assembled and functioning.
He died two years later. I was glad he got to see that truth before he died. It was a blessing.

It’s definitional, IMO. In fact, I believe that God IS the universe.
In this light, it’s kinda tough for scientists to achieve the discovery of their “holy grail”, the “theory-of-everything” (among other names), without acknowledging the WHOLE universe. God.
I find this belief of mine to simplify, and to resolve, many of the arguments between scientists and theologians.
I remember seeing a PBS special from a few years ago, posted on YT, which presented a debate between a couple renowned scientists (physicist “Krauss” was one), and a couple renowned theologians. (I’ll dig for it, and post, if I find it!)
Unfortunately, the theologians were inept – for the most part – during the debate. And, the moderators – while not SO intrusive – didn’t help. Even though Krauss was arrogant and cock-sure as all get-out, he still “won” the night, when measured by how many of the audience changed their minds from their beginning positions, to their end positions.
Overall, I was very disappointed. I believe that had I been there, I would have ROASTED Krauss. Assuming, of course, that the spotlight wouldn’t have affected me too strongly! If you’ve ever been on stage, in front of many eyes (as I have a few times), you’ll know what I mean.
I’ll look for that debacle-debate now … it’s worth the whole ~90min or so. I hope it hasn’t been YT deleted – I suspect not, for it reached the wrong (and so, promoted by PBS) conclusion.

pgroup, As hard as it is and as much as it hurts, God uses it all for good. I wouldn’t be here with you if he had done it differently. I thought I signed up to be a snowflake and ended up getting Navy Seal training. Pgroup, great answer. I know in my case, though I admit I’ve questioned the Lord at times, he planned every inch of my life in order to grow me and bring me to where He wants me.
Zoe, He says He will not give you more than you can bear, but I have had that discussion with Him a few times because I thought I would not be able to bear it but here I am and better for the training.
Elizabeth, I actually took some courses offered by Scientology in CA. Don’t recall the name exactly but I knew nothing of the background of Scientology and actually found a lot of value in the teachings which I am sure was all entry level stuff which I used in business management practices to expand my business. I still have the books/tapes, etc somewhere and later when I found information about the deeper parts, I knew I likely didn’t come in contact with any of that as I did not present myself as a candidate to submit to being controlled.

Seriously, that phrase “God is in control” was a favorite of one of the most influential pastors I ever learned from. I asked him some of the hardest questions with metaphysical implications he could ever have to answer, and he was like Trump – no flinching about the downside. In the long run, those answers became profound convincers and explainers of reality for me.

Are young people targeted and recruited or do natural interests lead them into alphabet agencies?
More like a nature or nurture argument….
When I was in high school, we had a job fair in October/November of senior year. High school was enormous, almost 5K+ students, and 1169 in graduating class. Job Fair attendance was mandatory and we all received a printout of 6 booths to visit based on who we were/qualifications, etc.
Think about that kind of tracking in the late 70’s…..
The gym was crowded but we were happy to be out of class. I reported to my specific ‘booths’, various companies popular in the region and southern USA. One booth was CIA and another was FBI. When I got to the CIA booth, there were only about 6 kids there, whereas across the gym, there might be 50-100 at one location. Here’s the weird part, I knew all of those 6 kids, well, in a school that large. One of them was my long-term boyfriend, one was my debate partner, another was “Weird Wayne” from physics whom I constantly defended.
When we all arrived at the same booth for the scheduled time, we were thinking the same thing, ‘Why us and why are we all here?” Pretty strange.
We were all interviewed privately. The guy who interviewed me opened a file and had copies of my ACT, transcript, and my ASVAB test, all my French notes, plus a lot of notes he had written. Of the 7, 4 of us received offers of 3/4 scholarship at Georgetown and internship at CIA.
After that, we talked about the idea, trying to work through the finances. Would we all get an apartment and share? How could we afford to move to DC? My parents had a heart attack at the idea I would move to DC with my boyfriend and I was only 16 at graduation. Deal was killed for me, immediately, and I forgot all about it.
Strange part – my boyfriend ended up as an elect engineer who designs retrofits for black helos, in Annapolis/Silver Springs. My debate partner ended up as a Colonel. Weird Wayne majored in everything he could touch.

Flash forward a generation.
Son did well in a freshman high school Stem class, won state competitions, placed nationally. A Congressman nominated him to a tri-state leadership ‘thingy’, which he LOVED. From there, he was picked up for an honor society, one thing led to another, and soon, he was the state ambassador. Okay, fine. Between soph/junior year, we went to his national convention at Rice in Houston. Morning welcome meeting, over 1000 kids + parents, went well. Parents were soon shuffled off for tea and cookies and dismissed. Some kids/parents were staying in a single hotel, but we were staying with friends. I arranged to pick up my son at a specific time – to get him ready for their evening dance at Rice.
I was there at the scheduled time – no son.
I waited and watched the kids pour out or go up to their hotel bus.
15 minutes – everyone cleared out – No son.
Finally, I went in and asked. I wasn’t ‘worried’ about him, more like curious. After all, it would take Ninjas to kidnap my kid and even a group of Ninjas would grow impatient and probably throw him back.
Imagine my surprise when……
A snotty matron informed me the “CIA WORKSHOP” was going exceptionally well and was running a little late. She also told me 18 of the kids were “targeted” (she used the word targeted) and selected for that workshop, implying it was some big ‘honor’ and I should take a seat and shut up.
I waited, staring at other parents who were probably thinking the same thing. Another 30+ minutes ticked by, and I struck up a convo with several of the parents. They were from all over, one from Norway, many were foreign nationals. Finally, the kids emerged with about 6 suit types, one was the older guy, rest were younger. Everyone was laughing and happy.
My son was beaming. He walked out, arm in arm, with the young woman who would become his first serious girlfriend. She was fluent in 4 languages and had a TRUE photographic memory. Cute as a bug.
