My abuser was the Treasurer of the Church at the time. It also happens with equal regularity on both the north and south side of the tracks. The north side is just way better at hiding it.

Little secret about stem cell research: scientists have been at it trying to use embryonic stem cells to cure disease for over seventy years. On the news this morning was a college student whining about having to work 18 hours a week, while taking classes 5 days a week and he was still going to come of college with loads of debt. boohoo Then some numbnuts in PA government (maybe the governor who knows I was seeing red at that point) said everybody should go to college for free in PA. And they are going to tap the natural gas industry to pay for it. (You know how that will work out–they tax natural gas, the price raises for everyone else.) So in effect i will be paying for this kid to go to school for free. (Hubby and I already put our 2 children thru college.)
Here’s the thing: I won a merit scholarship in high school but turned it down because I really didn’t want to go to college at that point. But many years later, I did–so I put myself thru college. I was working 40 hours a week to support myself and my child, went to school 4 nights a week and oh yeah, did I mention I also had a child? These delicate kids these days expect everything to be easy–they want to work for nothing—gimme gimme gimme.
Seems we are raising kids these days with too much wishbone and not enough backbone.

Agreed. I walked away from high school with an incredible scholarship to Tulane, but it wasn’t quite enough and wicked stepmother thought I needed to go to typing school, instead. She made the decision 3 weeks before classes started. I wrote a hot check for a City College to enroll and waited another 2 weeks to get another check to buy books. I moved out at the end of the semester. Five cities, 5 colleges and 14 years later, I ended up with three undergrad degrees. Worked the whole way through.
In retrospect, it set a good example for my stepchildren.

I agree…I bought myself some textbooks to learn Spanish and I am trying to learn guitar–I love to learn just about anything. That being said, there are too many “professional students” these days who fear life so much they try to stay in school and rack up more debt.
Wolfie, I felt kind of reassured in a weird way by reading your opening post. Why? Because I had been thinking today that I’m feeling all Cloward-Pivened. That if you look close you might even see their boot prints on my forehead.
I thought I was all red-pilled when we elected PDJT. The last two years have taught me I only saw, ahem, the “tippy tops” of things. I honestly believed that by electing PDJT things would get better. Instead, they seem to be getting worse all the time. I think that is at least partially because so much has been revealed to us that we didn’t know before so it all looks a lot worse, and part of it may be the retrenching of a wounded and angry enemy. (Think the Battle of the Bulge.)
In some ways of course it is truly getting worse. This infanticide cause that the Commies have embraced suddenly is just unspeakable. The crap is raining down so hard and fast we need an umbrella to protect our heads. The rapidly intensifying attack on Christianity, the border crisis, South America, opioids, the ongoing coup, discovering the FBI is really the Gestapo, voter fraud, and on and on.
There is so much that it is overwhelming to everyone. Where do we even start to try to stop this insanity and begin to clean it up? They have truly overloaded every single system and now they are using that system overload to paralyze us, divide us, scare us, anger us. Everywhere we look there is Roger Stone getting hauled out of his home with probably a million dollars in tactical man power and equipment wasted, or the Governor of a State talking quite casually and even eagerly about killing babies, or learning Nellie Ohr had her bony fingers and long nose firmly in DJT Jr. and Ivanka’s travels, or the DNI is contradicting the President on foreign policy agenda issues, more non citizens registered to vote, let’s eliminate the electoral college, and on and on and on.
Okay. So. First step is to draw a deep breath and understand this is planned. Classic Cloward and Piven. But we choose how we react.
So far, for me, I’ve decided that I need to step up my prayer warrior game. My first act today was to pray for all of us in the Q Tree and elsewhere who are fighting for MAGA that we may be blessed with encouragement and comfort and the strength to keep on fighting and that the Holy Spirit guides our actions so we can be effective in whatever role we are playing in this war.

As I have said before, the overall general psyche of the American citizen simply cannot comprehend such evil. An excellent analogy. I don’t think any of us had any idea what we were facing. Some of us saw and understood bits and pieces of the mess, but when you stand back and see how vast and how deep The Swamp is, and on how many fronts this war is being fought it really is huge.
It is quite obvious to me that the only way we win this thing is if it is God’s will for that to happen. So I keep trying to remind myself to let it go, leave the planning to Him and to trust.
Out here in the trenches we all have our roles to play and all we can do is carry on and trust in God to handle it while we do what is before us to do.

That’s middle America of many decades ago. I remember stories of “dad” the farmer going into town on business and bringing his sons (working on the farm) back Moon Pies and RC Cola. They used to be in every country store anywhere – many rural places still are.

I was in the car a bit yesterday, and caught some of Rush’s show. He usually drives me crazy telling me what the Left thinks of us… Anyway, he was on a tear about this – appeared to have spent a great deal of time talking about late-term abortion = infanticide. I’ve never heard him address it like this before.
I think even he was shocked that the Dems had managed to get this far. WE’VE known that they’ve been killing viable infants, third-trimester babies, for a long time, but they’d been keeping the significance of what they were doing hidden, under the radar.
Now maybe abortion will get the legal and moral look it should. Not only are we violating the right to life, and IMO, that’s a moral as well as a Constitutional issue, but we’re doing it by Cruel and unusual… that should be another protection used to stop this atrocity.

This is going to be hard for me to write here, knowing (I think) how most of you feel, but here goes.
Full disclosure: I have been pro-choice all of my adult life. That said, it was with MANY caveats. I have never agreed with whatever, whenever, but if a woman felt in the first few weeks of pregnancy, that she needed to do it, I was ok with that.
It used to be that women in that position had a HARD choice to make. Abortion, even though legal, was not EASY. I ran that gauntlet with a friend of mine in the 1980s, and it was very traumatic. We were all but assaulted just getting to the doors of a clinic, and once in, EVERY possible alternative option was emphasized. She was made to understand the gravity of her decision, I could see it in her eyes. It was DIFFICULT. But now? My God, it’s like discarding a used Kleenex. I am disgusted beyond my ability to articulate.
What I think the left doesn’t understand about what they are doing with their latest insanity is this:
I AM NO LONGER PRO-CHOICE.
If a woman is in the position of have been raped, molested, or is in danger of her life, then she should have to consult her REGULAR physician for help. NO MORE clinics or Planned Parenthood. I have always believed that Roe v. Wade should not be law, and that abortion should be state-regulated, but no more. The states have lost their collective minds, too. Abolish this shit Constitutionally.
At the age of 54, pro-choice has lost me. I wonder how many others their radicalism is driving to the side of pro-life?

Pro-Choice drove me away. I was under the assumption it was a rare occurrence until about 8yrs ago, when the pro-life movement ramped up. I mistakenly assumed women were tortured and/or desperate to make such a decision. One stat made me switch overnight.

At that point, abortion is birth control. A convenience. As a society, we need to find another solution. It cannot continue.
I get the feeling, that high school age young women, once seeing what really happens during an abortion, would feel differently. Perhaps that’s why the left wanted to censor/quash the videos about Planned Parenthood, talking about baby parts, etc.
you know, when you undergo a medical procedure, the doctor has to discuss all the worse case scenarios that might occur if you choose to have the procedure and also if you do not. Why is there not a similar requirement to show a women considering abortion to see one?

True here in the UK as of 10+ years ago. I heard a thirty-something doctor at the time say (paraphrased), ‘The medical profession here do not take the Hippocratic Oath seriously. New doctors recite it on the day, but it’s not discussed beforehand and it’s soon forgotten afterwards.’

In the 70’s, I hardly knew about the birds and bees, and didn’t think too much about a “few cells” so I was neutral about it. It wasn’t too long before I realized that abortion was killing babies, and that “safe, legal and rare” was the biggest lie perpetuated upon the Supreme Court and the American people.
The lie has been exposed for decades, and we’ve still not been able to stop the genocide of several generations of the unborn, future human beings, future Americans.
It’s that lie that Court must address. It was wrongly, and badly decided. Bad Law.

It’s an interesting question and I think about this all the time. It’s an information paradox. SOME of us HAVE TO WATCH IT. Others gain power by NOT WATCHING AT ALL, and only hearing about selected portions. Overall, this is a PATTERN in INTELLIGENCE.
The whole thing is beautiful, and evolves naturally. I continue to encourage people to stop watching the Fake News, because I believe we need MORE people in the “don’t watch at all” category. i think it started with the lie they told to women–you can have it all…who wants it all? career, family, home…it’s exhausting…so to get everything done, the women sat their kids in front of the tvs to get dinner started, to do laundry, etc…and it became a habit…now it’s ipads and playing computer games…

Emeraldstar, you are more right than you know! I’m a child of 80’s and 90’s and many were surprised when I told others that I just wanted to be home to take care of my own children. It was like it was never good enough. Then when the kids were old enough to go to school, I got a part time job, then eventually a full time job. I’m more tired, more lost and more worn out then I ever was. There is not enough time in the (or weekend) to catch up with everything that needs to be done. I’m sure I’m not the only one in this situation.
That is one reason my granddaughter is bored here – no I-pad. I will let her watch funny animal and baby videos on my pooter but that’s it. We always play board games – we have mini-tournaments playing Trouble and play Mancala as well and I am going to introduce her soon to Monopoly. We rarely play the younger games any more, like Chutes & Ladders and Candy Land.
I also record movies for her – yet another reason I choose not to give up my DTV. My options here are just too limited – it is what it is. I just tried to upgrade to the faster level on my internet and can’t because their radio on the tower here doesn’t have that capacity. And again, I watch a LOT of the Science Channel, History Channel, Animal Planet and on and on.
I tried to help some younger family members play a card game.
They could not get into it. Atrophied imaginations?
Reminds me of an anecdote from years ago, when TV and Radio (see, I told you it was years ago) were replacing books as a means of entertainment.
A young boy was asked why he liked books better than television or movies. He replied, “because the pictures are better”…
When our youth loses the ability to design and create, someone else will do the creating for them. And it might very well be a hostile or nefarious entity…
I remember when “A Charlie Brown Christmas” first was shown on television, and the stir that was aroused amongst readers of “Peanuts” before, during, and after that. It seems that many children (and adults, of course) had imagined different voices for the different characters. As soon as a voice was attached to Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Sally, etc., it was frozen in time and space. By adding the dimension of television, voice-overs, etc. to the story, they took away the dimension of imagination.
Sort of like the little girl in “Miracle on 34th Street”, who was raised as a “realist”, no fantasy or imagination whatsoever. So, when Kris Kringle invents a game (zoo) and says he’s from the Imagine-nation, she’s lost.
And this culturally-encouraged loss of imagination, where it’s been co-opted by the tv, video-game, movie, Virtual-Reality designers, etc., has led to the point where people cannot tell where reality ends and “fake reality” (VR, games, etc.) begins, as by losing the ability to imagine, and create a fantasy world of their own, they cannot tell when it’s being done to them.
My wife’s nephew (who’s now a design and test engineer at Porsche) never wanted most of the fancy toys available 30 or so years ago. He’d play with Lego, and Fischer-Technik (sort of like Erector Sets), but he’d be perfectly happy with some wooden blocks, or, later, electrical, plumbing, or building parts. Later still he had power tools, etc., which he could handle correctly and safely despite his young age. Only kid I’ve known to have metal shavings in his bedroom rug 🙂 So he did the imagining and the creating, NOT the (often Politically Correct, anymore) designers.
I think having too much stuff, especially “pre-conceived” stuff (e.g. Lego kits as opposed to just the blocks) stifles creativity, as well as the ability to view a problem or situation from many perspectives. Years ago, when my son was very ill, I bought him a Playmobil hospital to entertain him and he’d recreate different things he saw or went through. He had quite a few Lego blocks and pieces, and build his own hospital, etc., eventually moving pieces of Playmo (the patients, drips, sonos, etc.) over to his Lego hospital. He had a LOT more fun with that, as he designed and changed it…
Just goes to show that often “less is more”…

I really enjoy playing cards (Gin rummy, Hearts, Canasta, Pinochle — but nothing for money). I’m amazed that so few people are interested in card games.
They’re not only fun, but also a great way to think — and employ strategy.

We never visited my Grandmother without bringing over the Boston Globe and Springfield Union (I think its the Republican now or vice versa or there were three papers, seems brought more than two.) When I was about ten, (thinks Johnson was president if not Nixon) I was starting to get an interest in current events and politics and I asked my Grandmother which party she thought was the better party Democrats or Republicans. She snapped and told me “THEY’RE ALL A BUNCH OF CROOKS!” Okay, thankyou Grandma, note to self don’t ever ask that question again.

I appreciate your concern. We all go through this sort of thing, and “cooling off” is a good and natural thing here. Even though my short absence here had nothing to do with such a reason (“I need time off, pull back, etc.”), it was VERY beneficial.
Free speech will lead to some conflict – it’s normal. Taking time to think about things when conflict arises is natural. It’s a beautiful pattern (time delay), and I can even generalize this to my reveals, delayed decades from the point of origin in time.
When we are confronted with troubling things resulting from conflicts, it takes a long time for the “computers” to resolve the processes. The only way a logical and true debugging occurs is by waiting. Simply hitting the kill switch (sometimes called “forgiveness” or “mea culpa” – a beautiful math operation – simply setting a 1 to 0) solves the short-term problem, but not the long-term problem.
Because God deals with infinities that we cannot, God sees things differently. But one of the beauties of the universe is that we can – in any way – grasp some of what God sees. Surely by design. The beauty of THAT is why life is worth living, and protecting.

I think I was the first to jump down his throat – it was an emotional reaction on my part, no doubt, whereas Steve applies logic. The vast majority of time, his writings are cogent, comprehensive and common sense. This is just too emotional an issue, I think, for people to be blase about it in any shape or form. I also truly hope he is able to recognize that he is getting hung up on what is really just semantics being used as a weapon.
IIRC Steve began his comment with an acknowledgement that he would likely receive pushback. In other words, he told you he expected reactions & differences of opinion.
While I understand and agree with the concerns stated here, Steve – as well as the rest of us – are adults, and can handle differences of opinion, even when they include emotional responses.
No one’s response to Steve’s comment yesterday was directed personally at Steve – there was no name calling or trashing. Those were honest, respectful responses – even the emotional ones.
Wolfie’s comment here is terrific and supportive of all involved, including Steve. If he’s taking some time off after his yeoman’s efforts in Wolfie’s absence, that is a healthy thing to do. Steve will be back when he is ready, and I always appreciate his input.

When the shutdown happened, he became convinced the politicians were taking cartel money = not supporting the Border Wall (beyond wanting illegal votes or cheap workers).
When the news of Guzman and ElChapo came out, “bribing Enrique Peña Nieto for 100 million” he took it as confirmation bias. He became like a dog with a bone, looking for further evidence.
I started thinking.
What is needed most during a dirty campaign?
Cash. Cash to get supporters to carry signs. Cash to get people to the voting booth. Cash to make them vote for you. Cash to conduct dirty tricks against your opponent.
But, I am the forensic accounting queen. I write checks for $.67 so I can track every penny. How can anyone in a dirty campaign explain a large infusion of cash? How do you get a large amount of cash INTO the campaign, and then account for the expenditure, OUT of the campaign?
And it hit me – drug money from the cartels.

When faced with all the evil exposed in the conspiracy world, we need the hope God provides to counter the cynicism. The book I’m reading and working through just talks about the cynicism angle, but the deeper we go into rabbit holes, the more need for a counter balance there is.
When it all gets to be too much, walking away, and regaining balance through prayer, etc., is perfectly legit. There are so many people doing the fighting, we can all afford to take breaks now and again.

I have zero doubt about what happened when fascists raided his home.

So, since the evidence cannot be introduced DIRECTLY, it must be presented INDIRECTLY. Meaning, from a different legal case.
Perhaps the indictment of Stone accomplishes this, vis-a-vis the DNC server / HRC emails / et al.
Perhaps also, he is the “keystone”, the last piece to connect all the other evidence already indirectly introduced. And, I read elsewhere that Mulehead is “slow-walking” the Stone proceedings, maybe to better coordinate the timing of all the pieces coming together in one glorious MOAB.

So unless Pres Trump has rescinded all those EO’s that HusseinO put in place…they are still in force.
The Dems *know* about these executive powers.
They were counting on using them at some point!
This could be Why they are freaking out so much about the ‘idea’ of Pres Trump declaring a National Emergency.
