6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.
7 For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.
8 And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.
9 We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him.
10 When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God.
11 So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.
12 Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires.
13 Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.
14 Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.
15 Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not!

20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the obligation to do right.
21 And what was the result? You are now ashamed of the things you used to do, things that end in eternal doom.

Okay, I get it.
Spiritually, we are slaves to whatever we choose to obey.
According to Jesus, “… if the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed.” And that’s pretty good news. When we cry out to God for mercy, there is an exchange. We are “redeemed” from slavery and adopted as sons. This is the Gospel, good news.
Life, Liberty and Property
The founding fathers were pretty keen on throwing off the yoke of oppression they suffered at the hand of England to become free. And I believe that there was discussion about extending their emancipation to women and slaves.
Perhaps at the time they felt they could not raise the support for their efforts if they went that far. I don’t know. But in any case, full freedom for all people was not codified into American law until much later. And for the indigenous people, they were still being treated as “less than” into the 1940’s (at least as exemplified by their access to public education).
What about modern slavery?
In the last decade the public awareness of atrocities of modern slavery has finally gained traction. Even though I did not research the producers of the above video, I believe the 7 minute view is worthy of your time. Perhaps the economics of slavery can even explain recent political moves by countries such as Russia, China and India.
A CONDENSED
ANTI-SLAVERY BIBLE ARGUMENT.
(excerpt from Chapter I)
IN order the better to understand the subject it is necessary here to introduce a few plain definitions. Slavery has two definitions–the direct and the indirect. The first of these is that it is the total deprivation of human rights; the other that it is the reducing of human beings to the condition of property, the same as other goods, wares, merchandise and chattels.
Either of these definitions will answer for the purpose of argument, though the latter is to be preferred, because it is the most familiar. There are a variety of other ways in which mankind hold control over each other, and sometimes unjustly and oppressively; but if the persons controlled be not held as property, they are not slaves.
A Right is defined to be, the privilege or liberty of being, doing, having or suffering something at our own pleasure and discretion without the interference, interruption or hindrance of others–and to this discretion neither the law of God, nor the common law, nor any other just law, sets any other bounds than that we so exercise our own rights as not to infringe the same rights in other human beings.
A Wrong is defined to be, any voluntary act which disturbs, interrupts, hinders, or destroys the free exercise of the rights of others–every such act being strictly forbidden by the law of God, and every other just law.
Right and Wrong are, therefore, the everlasting moral and political opposites and antagonists of each other. Mr. Weld, in his valuable “Bible Argument,” says, “ENSLAVING MEN IS REDUCING THEM TO ARTICLES OF PROPERTY — making free agents, chattels–converting persons into things–sinking immortality into merchandize.
A slave is one held in this condition. In law, he owns nothing and can acquire nothing.” His right to himself is abrogated. If he says my hands, my body, my mind, MYself, they are figures of speech. To use himself for his own good is a crime. To keep what he earns is stealing. To take his body into his own keeping is insurrection.
In a word, the profit of his master is made the END of his being, and he a mere means to that end–a mere means to an end into which his interests do not enter– of which they constitute no portion. MAN sunk to a thing! The intrinsic element, the principle of slavery.
MEN, bartered, leased, mortgaged, bequeathed, invoiced, shipped in cargoes, stored as goods, taken on executions, and knocked off at public outcry! Their rights, another’s conveniences; their interests, wares on sale; their happiness, a household utensil; their personal inalienable ownership, a serviceable article or a plaything, as best suits the humor of the hour; their deathless nature, conscience, social affections, sympathies, hopes–marketable commodities!
We repeat it, “THE REDUCTION OF PERSONS TO THINGS!” Not robbing a man of privileges, but of himself; not loading him with burdens, but making him a beast of burden; not restraining liberty, but subverting it; not curtailing rights, but abolishing them; not inflicting personal cruelty, but annihilating personality; not exacting involuntary labor, but sinking man into an implement of labor; not abridging human comforts, but abrogating human nature; not depriving an animal of immunities, but despoiling a rational being of attributes, uncreating A MAN to make room for a thing!
That this is American slavery is shown by the laws of the slave states. Judge Stroud, in his “Sketch of the Laws relating to Slavery,” says, “The cardinal principle of slavery, that the slave is not to be ranked among sentient beings but among things, obtains as undoubted law in all of these (the slave) states.”
The law of South Carolina says, “Slaves shall be deemed, held, taken, reputed and adjudged in law to be chattels personal in the hands of their owners and possessors, and their executors, administrators, and assigns, TO ALL INTENTS, CONSTRUCTIONS, AND PURPOSES WHATSOEVER.”
In Louisiana, “A slave is one who is in the power of a master, to whom he belongs; the master may sell him, dispose of his person, his industry and his labor; he can do nothing, possess nothing, nor acquire anything but what belongs to his master. Civ. Code, Art. 35.”
Tried by these definitions, human slavery is one of the greatest wrongs existing in the world.

Abolitionists fought slavery in America through changing minds
In 1845, they used pamphlets, like this one written by “A Citizen of Virginia.”
Now the internet is the medium, but the goal is the same, to educate and motivate change.
Interestingly enough, authors in 1845 found it necessary to remain anonymous when advocating for change that would threaten the established power. And today we have the same dynamic as well-illustrated by the Q movement.
When I found this “condensed anti-slavery Bible argument” (of only 84 pages!) the reasoning was so fresh, I believe it bears repeating.
Note that the anonymous author starts with definitions (see above text in red), then launches into the main of his treatise. If you don’t have time to review the text, here is the sum-up: the treatment of PERSONS as THINGS is an affront and a crime.

Personally, I think Jeffrey Epstein is the CLASSIC modern slaver. Throwing his mug up in any discussion of slavery per se or the slavery of sin is highly relevant.

If I’m understanding the legalspeak in the court document, it appears to me that the Feds went to a judge to ask him to keep certain items away from Epstein’s lawyers because of ongoing investigations and the judge agreed. Am I missing something?
Judge Berman is seemingly trying to protect the victims whose nude/partially nude photos, etc. are contained in evidence. Likely trying to stop leaks to the press, marketing of materials, threats to victims, etc…all kinds of dastardly deeds by depraved people.
This is interesting from the ABC article – Epstein was not the only one who got immunity in 2008 – other co-conspirators, including 4 females also got immunity.

DH went to Baltimore once for business. He was to fly home that night. It was winter, so I made him stuff a pair of clean underwear and socks into his hard sided briefcase. He wound up having to overnight in a high end hotel.
When he got home he opened his brief case to remove his used underwear and socks.

They’ve stepped right into a trap – now everyone is looking at Baltimore and they can’t hide the truth.
Once having looked, you can’t unsee. For example, the thought of Baltimore’s condition and Cummings’ stewardship become overlaid. Almost like a marriage, except this one’s a marriage from hell.
I think he will go after the Committee chairmen that garner a lot of (self created) media attention….Cummings, Schiff, Warner, Maxine Waters, etc. In reality, they are all corrupt and probably can easy be proven so. That actually (should) neutralize them. Will be interesting to see if he takes it easy on Feinstein and Pelosi, who are both equally corrupt.
As with the forthcoming indictments, if a couple are publicly disgraced, dirty laundry exposed, even forced to resign……that will send a terrifying message to others….at least hopefully.

MICHAEL SHRIMPTON was ordered to be disbarred from the practice of law in England on 20 September 2018, due to being convicted of two charges brought against him by the Bar Standards Board. He had already been suspended from practicing law since November 2014 upon his conviction based on the charges and the serving of jail time.
In addition, SHRIMPTON was in 2014 convicted of an offense against the British Protection of Children Act.

I know this was put on YT in 2014, I think Mr Shrimpton gave this interview in 2008. He mentions McCain and Hillary. Once you get to the 4:00 point, a load of people knew about it, or so Mr Shrimpton claims: the Clintons, Rudy Giuliani, McCain, British intelligence, Kenyan intelligence and The Daily Telegraph.
It is interesting that so many of us have not seen this video before now. I had no idea it existed.

I can believe that because of the things we see reported in the news. I know of a situation where the youngest child of a poor family was removed from his home by the authorities and quickly adopted out to a wealthy childless couple in the same town. This was many years ago.

I had a run in with CPS. It’s utterly terrifying. They don’t need a warrant, because if you refuse to let them see the children and search your house, they will get an order to remove the kids based on immediate threat to life and health. And you won’t see them for a minimum of 6 months if they do that. Back story: my middle son, being the literalist and tester he is, didn’t believe me that the iron was hot and not to touch it. So he did. He burned his hand and it ended up getting infected. Off to the ER (no PCP at that time). ER doc reported us to CPS because he didn’t believe the story (even though the 5 year old corroborated the 3 year old’s story away from me). He told me, and CPS, that I burned him with a curling iron. Why would I only burn the finger tips and not the whole hand I asked him?
Needless to say I am not a fan. They have ALL the power and you as a parent have none. And that was in the late 80’s. It is much worse now. I’m glad the whole anti-vaccination demonizing wasn’t a thing then; my oldest is vaccine injured so we stopped vaccinating until each child was ready for school, and caught them up on a delayed schedule. That, I’m sure, would be grounds for removal today.

One of my twins has autism & it appeared to begin sometime after birth & before pre-school. We were never sure if vaccines were an issue or not but I stopped getting nearly all vaccines for the 4 kids because of the one kid’s autism, etc., for quite a few years. We had to sign waivers to get them in school & boy did I endure some High Pressure to vaccinate from one of their pediatricians.
My special needs son has a primary doctor with a practice dedicated to medically complex kids & also specializes in autism issues. She has admitted that she believes that vaccination Can be a factor especially for neurologically fragile kids, especially when they are very young & so many of those toxic substances/diseases are introduced into their already overloaded systems. (Seems at a minimum that protocols on vaccination should be revisited especially for premature & medically fragile kids!)
When our special son ended up needing a Liver Transplant we followed the LT protocols regarding vaccines for him & the other siblings (they were all teenagers at this point). This caught everyone up on most of the recommended vaccines, though much later than the standard course. Some were never to be received because of the risk to a transplant recipient to receive or live with people having received those vaccines (I don’t remember which ones those were).
Nowadays they usually recommend that our special son receives a Flu Vaccine yearly & we usually comply. It’s very rare that any of us get the flu regardless & no one else has had that vaccine except my husband one year only–a year he got pretty sick with the flu if memory serves…
I’ve heard about studies of large populations comparing similarly aged/sexed pediatric populations from urban/suburban/rural populations & those who don’t vaccinate, like Amish &/or Mennonite. Apparently the rates of typical childhood illnesses were basically the same between the two groups but the difference in autism was Very Significant with those unvaccinated having a much lower incidence…
I think the CDC literature may list vaccine reaction risk & this could imply the chance of developing “autism” or other neurological atypicalities. The rates of these risks might be acceptable to public health bureaucrats but not for those of us who have to watch so much of a person slip into the ether when autism-like features arise. If autism is partially a preventable condition then taking reasonable preventative measures seems entirely appropriate. On the other hand, every child is a Gift from God & even those with significant disabilities can be a tremendous blessing to a family, church, school, & community…
My son functions very well – he’s married, has a great job, owns a home, etc. He just processes….differently. It’s always been noticeable. I’m thankful to this day that his issues aren’t worse than this. And I’m thankful his wife is not only aware but incredibly supportive of him and the differences.

We have photos of our son as an infant where he was clearly engaged & making eye contact, something that slipped away from him as the years went by. His issues were compounded by bodily structural issues that meant that his blood circulated throughout his body Before being filtered by an extremely atypical liver. This caused toxins to build up throughout his system, including his brain, & some of that excess toxicity seemed to contribute to some of his autistic issues…he’s always been Very Complicated so we’re not sure of the genesis of a number of his challenges…
He was talking until his 12 month shots then he had a 105 degree temp and seizures after the DPT and was very slow to recover. From that point on we all knew something had happened but no one was quite sure what. My mother was a special education teacher and had an influx of kids with autism. In speaking with parents they all seemed to have a similar story, similar to what happened with my son. She called me when it was time to get his 18 month vaccinations and said she had done a lot of research and she was pretty sure he had a vaccine reaction, and asked me not to give him any more until he was ready for school. So we didn’t. When I started researching this it was years later. I had never heard of methylation defects in the liver nor in mutations that cause this. Well as it turns out I have two copies of two genes that cause this, which is correlated with thing like medication reactions, vitamin deficiencies, eczema and allergies, and more. As a family we have terrible food allergies, eczema, and I am pretty sure all my kids have at least one, if not two copies of these.
Thank you for sharing this part of your story. I’m guessing that you have had genetic testing to know about the gene copies. My son has been presumed to have a “genetic defect” but all testing has been negative. Sometimes we just have to accept that many aspects of his life & challenges remain unsolved mysteries. A little reference on Cummings and his district . Wife and me have voted republican since Ronald Reagan. When we got married, we moved from just outside Baltimore to further west, Howard County; at that time was fairly rural, great schools, very conservative. Our voting district stretched all the way to western MD and was represented by a very conservative guy Roscoe Bartlett. The 8 districts in Maryland at the time were approx half sane (conservative) and the other half loony..not any more. Now all Dems except one.
Once the Dems got control of redistricting, they gerrymandered Roscoe outta there and I ended up with that Cummings POS.

I got to solo some of his work in the Chiesa della Pieta in Venice where he was the music director for one of the Oespedali during the last century of the republic. He actually, was an ordained priest, but was released from his duties as he was not well enough to perform them. So, he was music director of the oespedali that was more like a foundling home. They would give the mother and the child different halves of a holy card. If the family wanted to claim the child later, they had to produce the holy card half. There’s a great little museum attached to the church that tells about it.
What they really did, though, was train the girls to be musicians so that they would have a profession other than being on the streets. In the music itself, the names of the girls assigned parts and solos were written out. There’s a fascinating history to it all as the music itself was lost for almost 200 years, and the heirs literally split the scores in half. One family had one half, another family had the other and in the 20th century music scholars had to match them up.

When I did the Venice thing, the late nun who ran the chorus and led the charge was one of the scholars who put the scores back together. It was kind of a privilege to be able to do it, actually.

Most people know Vivaldi’s strings work, but not necessarily the vocal literature. During Lent, since the theaters and opera houses were dark, they would provide the music for Vespers services in the evenings. So, in Vivaldi’s body of work are a number of Beatus Vir, Magnificat, and Nunc Dimitis which are all part of that particular service.
This must have been a highlight for you, DP, not only to solo his work but to do so in the very place he once lived and worked. I imagine it is an experience that remains vivid for you. Thanks for this fascinating piece of history – hearing your personal ties makes history come alive.
Thanks. The Nunc Dimitis we sang in that concert was actually written by Baldassare Galuppi who was music director at a different Oespedali on the other side of Venice. GORGEOUS church GORGEOUS, known as the Derilitti, We sang the second concert there, and of course, the Nunc Dimitis sounded better in that church. The solo in that one was the BIG one. And I mean big, to the point that my cover said to me in the airport, Don’t get sick, I haven’t looked at it. Naturally, I came down with the worst head cold I had had in years two days before, spent a day in bed, my fever broke the morning of the first concert, and my voice was done two hours after the second. Then my mom took me to Tuscany for a week. It was one heck of a trip.

So what was happening that weekend? I’ve done a lot of research on these dates, but as of yet, I do not have any answers.
At that time, Junkermann was 27 years old, so it’s very unlikely that they were dating, as everyone knows Jeffrey Epstein isn’t interested in fully sexually developed adults. Finding this anomaly on Epstein’s plane manifest encouraged me to look deeper into the life of Nicole Junkermann, and amongst other things, whether or not she had any links to a state intelligence agency. Were Junkermann and Epstein meeting alone for innocent reasons? Even though Junkerman had made many investments already, she might have been trying to get more funds from an eager investor like Epstein. How Epstein originally accrued his billions is still quite a murky subject in itself.
Whatever the reason for these two incredibly rich people being together, this meeting was a very private one. Junkermann had also just completed Harvard University’s Program for Management Development, and Jeffrey Epstein had a high-profile relationship with Harvard which, in 2003, led to him donating $30,000,000.00 to the Ivy League college. Excellent! Keith Yukio Yamamoto must have seen the diver, in fact the diver has placed himself between Yamamoto and the person who’s behind Yamamoto. I once read a book called “Slaves in the Family” that is fascinating in its telling. The author has a Daughn-like capacity to paint evocative word pictures to give you a glimpse of the many people/relations both black & white he interviewed. It is a personal genealogical tale but definitely has implications for understanding the historical aspects of slavery in his expansive family & can certainly inform our national understanding on this complex topic…
I also read this book (below), which sheds fascinating & historical light on the topic of slavery using a court case study & plums the depth of many records to come to its fascinating conclusions–a great read for history buffs interested in race relations, New Orleans, court cases, etc…

From a personal perspective I am a white female who grew up in Metro Detroit. I had a good friend from church who was mixed race/mulatto, as were both her parents. They lived in Windsor (just across the Detroit River from Detroit).
I slept over a few times at this friend’s house & was Amazed at the difference between Canadian blacks (often descended from Underground Railroad escapees) & American blacks. From my limited exposure it did not appear that the Canadians carried nearly the chip on their soldiers about race relations as did their black American “cousins”.
I also went on a Missions Trip to West Africa & was usually the only “white” person in sight. We met a fellow missionary who lived in that country but came from England (& also happened to be black) & her attitude & interactions were Very Different from the American blacks & seemed to be lacking the “chip on the shoulder” aspect that can be so pervasive over here.
We encountered African blacks who had black servants (these were major church leaders) & seemed to treat these servants as if they were invisible & practically non-persons. My close (black) friend & I would make it a point to look these servants in the eye & speak to them as equals but the undercurrents of classism persisted across the Atlantic.
We’ve had a number of “black” respite-care workers over the years to help care for our autistic son in our home. Many of them either lived, worked, or had close family that lived in Detroit. Some shared incredible stories of extreme black racism amongst Detroit blacks, judging each other significantly based on the lightness or darkness of their skin & some strange business dealings within “the community” (black business owners demanding black customer loyalty but black customers preferring to frequent white businesses because they “knew” they would get better quality service there)…
Race in America is Extremely Complex & based on my limited experience with blackness in a couple of other countries it is way more than one dimensional in other locations too…

I extracted 25 points of interest from Jones. They are MY summary, totally the work of Jones. Jones copyrights all of his material, so I am posting under fair use. Each point is the subject of a much longer post by Jones. And these points are just a tiny bit of what is on his site:
1. The Assyrian cubit was the standard commercial measurement at the time of Jesus. The Shroud measures 8 x 2 Assyrian cubits, whole numbers suggesting that the Shroud was in fact measured in Assyrian cubits. There is no corresponding Medieval measurement.
2. The process for creating linen yarn was different in ancient and Medieval times. The ancient method resulted in variations in color; the Medieval resulted in uniform color. The Shroud has various shades

3. No examples of the rare herringbone weave of the Shroud have been found from ancient times, and only one has been found from Medieval times. This is most likely because the process to make this cloth was very expensive at either time. Joseph of Arimathea was a rich man. A Medieval forger is unlikely to have spent the money on a forgery.
4. There was hidden stitching used to sew on the side piece of the Shroud (probably a belt sewn on to keep it with the Shroud). The subtle method of creating the hidden stitching has only been found in one place: at the Jewish fortress of Masada overrun by the Romans in 73 AD.
5. Selvedge is the edging used on a piece of fabric. The selvedge on the Shroud indicates it was created on a very broad loom which existed in ancient but not medieval times.
6. The man on the Shroud is naked. Jesus was never portrayed as naked in Christian art.
7. The image of the man on the Shroud is double, showing his full-length front and back. No image before the Shroud did that.
8. The image is so faint it cannot be seen close up. A person needs to be a couple feet away to see it. How would a forger create a faint image from two feet away?
9. The image is created from a single, uniform color, straw yellow. There is no other color. The image creates its effect by density; more straw yellow fibers for dark, fewer for light. The image is therefore digital.
10. The Crown of Thorns in the image shows a caplet, not a wreath. The wreath was the exclusive means of showing the Crown in Christian art.
11. The image shows piercing through the wrists, not the palms. The palms were the exclusive way Christian art depicted the Crucifixion. Only in the recent past was it discovered that the palms could not support a crucified body.
12. Scourge marks are shown around the buttocks and genitals, completely absent from Christian art, and probably considered blasphemous if done.
13. The image on the Shroud has no outline.
14. There is no sign of paint, dye, powder, or any other foreign substance on the cloth that can account for the image. The image was not painted, an undisputed fact.
15. There is no “style” to the image.
16. There is no directionality to the image, except for up or down.
17. The image is extremely superficial, one fiber deep. The image does not penetrate into the Shroud.
18. The image is a photographic negative first discovered in 1898. You can only “see” the image in a photograph.
19. A VP-8 Image Analyzer was used in 1975 to create a perfect 3-d image of the non-contact areas of the image, including the face and front of the head.
20. The image shows a man in rigor mortis with no decomposition of his body.
21. Interior parts of the man’s body (such as teeth) are shown on the image as if revealed by an x-ray.
22. The blood on the Shroud is real human blood. The blood on the right side of the man’s body is mixed with watery fluid.
23. The image shows unbroken blood clots.
24. There is no image underneath the blood clots, therefore the image was made after the blood clots.
25. Water stains on the Shroud correspond exactly to what would be expected if it were stored in an earthenware jar.

Thanks for the links, Tonawanda! I’ve believed the shroud was real ever since I started reading about it in depth. There are just far too many points of proof for it to all be coincidence. (As Q would say, there are no coincidences). And the fact that they cannot explain how the image got on the shroud is a big clue that this was supernatural – the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

I am a firm believer that the Shroud is authentic, but there some problems with this list:

Michelangelo, actually, painted the Christ figure nude originally on “The Last Judgement” in the Sistine Chapel. After the protestant revolt, all naked figures were given loin covers, and the statues in the Vatican collection were relieved of their manhoods.

I would think this proves it true. The wounds clearly show the steel balls that would have been on the ends of the leather strips. Jim Caviezel got tagged with one during the filming of the Passion of the Christ and the wound was used as the basis for the make-up on his back.
Does this researcher mention that the blood type on the Shroud is AB-, same as the Crown of Thorns in Paris and the Sudarium Christi which is in Oviedo, Spain? Another tidbit, all the markings on the Shroud match the marks on the other twp artifacts.
There’s a lot of evidence that it’s the real thing. Once they got the French reweaving off of it, and retested the carbon, the dates put it right where Christ would have walked on Earth. The pollens match those of plants that only appear in that part of the Mediterranean region during March and April.
It also hasn’t disintegrated. That alone is a stunning fact.
Michelangelo came after the Shroud. Prior to the Shroud, according to Stephen Jones, Christian art did not depict Jesus as naked.
Jones discusses every aspect of the Shroud extensively (you have to search it out on his site). He discusses the blood. And he discusses the Sudarium, which is (to my mind) conclusive proof of the Shroud.
The carbon dating is to be respected, but it was wrong for a variety of reasons which require more than mere acceptance of the results, and I am NOT talking about the concept of carbon dating itself.
The mere existence of the Shroud is a stunning fact by itself, no question, for those who wish to consider such a fact.
If the Shroud is authentic, there is no Christian art prior to it.
I am sorry, you are right. I should have said “prior to the earliest agreed upon date of the Shroud’s existence.” The Shroud (IMO) existed before the mutually agreed upon date, but we are discussing whether it existed before that date. Everyone acknowledges it existed in the 1300’s, we disagree on whether it existed before. Michelangelo was after the 1300’s, and Jones says Jesus was never portrayed naked before the 1300’s.
Mmm…. there’s a sculpture I saw in Lucca maybe that was pretty early. It’s considered to be very authentic. All I really remember is the eyes were bulging. It was of the Crucifixion. If Christ was wearing anything it was a lioncloth.
I saw portions of a video documentary, Fabric of Time, I believe, that made some fascinating biblically & scientifically based cases for the validity of the Shroud of Turin–well worth watching if you can find it…
My main concern with the concept of the Shroud being from Jesus death/burial/resurrection (the video makes a case for an instantaneous holographic representation of the body appearing while the body was actually suspended in space–perhaps from the very act of Life returning to the slain Christ) is biblical…I used the NIV (New International Version) from BibleGateway.com to get the verses quoted below…

Note the “STRIPS of Linen” in Luke 24 above…& below in John 19 & John 20

Note John 20: 7 reveals that there was a separate cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head & it was lying separate from the linen…
Therefore based on “strips of linen” & a separate burial cloth for the head of Jesus it sounds like the Shroud of Turin as fascinating & mysterious & historically relevant & analyzed as it might be Does Not appear to align with the scriptural descriptions of Jesus burial cloths, so it is most likely Not an image of Jesus…
Have you read about the Sudarium of Oviedo? It is a bloodied piece of linen with a documented history older than the Shroud. The historical accounts describe it as the linen wrapped around the head of Jesus. The blood stains on the Sudarium perfectly or very closely with the stains on the Shroud.

That is entirely possible.

There are too many children being cranked out by illegal aliens and ghetto dwellers. More people, more problems. IMO, poor people of all races need to cut back on having large families. Our prisons are overflowing and our cities are over populated. Just look around.

Some very good insight into seeing Perkins Coie as the foreign threat they are. They are a criminal organization, in my opinion – they have been committing ultimate LAWFARE against the United States – and they need to be SHUT DOWN and their ASSETS SEIZED.

About 15 years ago several pastors told a group and myself the future will be the home church. There will be a spiritual revival and the structure of the hierarchy in church will crumble. Sadly the process is slow but I see it. People are awake and see the depravity and abuse of the church.I am not speaking of a specific church just general. This has been known to monks for years.
Home church is good as long as the Bible is the center of teaching.
At least you are able to see it now, and can use this knowledge to protect your loved ones as much as possible. The red pill is a bitter one to swallow, and I suspect that most people who have taken it have had similar thoughts to yours. You’re not alone.

Some companies who don’t stand for the 2nd Amendment, for example, have taken a revenue hit from boycotts; but I don’t think the number of people who are aware of corporate symbology is big enough to make a difference with a boycott. I think the fight has to take place on a different level, which is what Pres. Trump and others are doing. Spent some time in the Johns Hopkins Hospital area in the mid-60’s…lovely, safe city then. I felt no sense of fear and took public transportation into town to take care of business frequently.
Twenty years later attended several hospital-related conferences in the Inner Harbor area…same delightful experience and marveling about the story of how it was transformed because of the vision of one individual.

So, this weekend, the Missouri Attorney General and the Archdiocese released the full list of 65 names of priests CREDIBLY accused of sexual abuse of minors. It hasn’t changed since the last time it was released a few years ago, other than a few more of them are dead, and there is no mention of who went to prison in the reporting, but several of them did thanks to Archbishop John May back in the 80s.
Anyway, our pastor gave the homily this morning with another retired priest saying Mass (GREAT priest), and after going through all the talk about prayer since St. Luke’s version of the Our Father was the gospel reading, the pastor apologized. Again. I’ve heard this apology off and on for YEARS from any number of priests. And when it comes to children, this particular priest did nothing wrong. He also apologized to all the young people that they had to hear about it.
But the highlight of Mass…I got to sing my favorite hymn. It’s sort of the parish theme song, too. Here is the octavo version that we use on special occasions. The Cathedral groups used to sing it at ordinations. In the hymnal, though, it’s only the first and third verses and no descant. The tune is one of Gustav Holst’s from the Jupiter section of The Planets.
But the most important thing Monsignor said this morning, though, was now is the time to fight for the faith. He was rather impassioned about it, too.

Confessions are before the Saturday Mass and are currently being heard in a room with a glass wall where everyone can see what is going on.
It’s not what happens during and inside the booth , it’s what happens afterwards when the priest begins grooming the child who confesses to him he or she had “impure thoughts”. That’s the Catholic catch-all sin kind of like the police who use “disorderly conduct” to go after innocent citizens they want to screw over.
This particular priest is not into children in that way. Other men…that’s another story, but all speculation at this point. And in THAT parish, the people are highly educated professionals, movers and shakers who would have no compunction about turning him in. He knows he can’t get away with that crap in that place. That is also part of it. Knowing which parents are gullible. Not in this particular place.
Unless you’re with this priest 24×7, you have no idea what goes on behind closed doors or in out of town motels.
Ummm…yeah. STL is a pretty big small town. The degrees of separation are barely a two. More gets out than you would imagine. Somebody married to an old family friend confirmed some stuff to me about this guy. His eye is not for tender flesh.
The other thing about this particular priest, I am not really a fan on a number of levels. I really do not care for him as a person. However, he is serious about the faith and does things by the book. he does keep tabs on what’s going on with just about everyone in crisis, my own family included. And then there’s his dog. The dog is far more popular than the priest is.
So you’re judging him by rumor and inuendo. There were many rumors about various priests in our parish when I was a kid, but to my knowledge none of them were disciplined. They were all eventually transferred to other parishes out of state since that’s what the Catholic Church routinely did. I don’t know if the Church still does that or not since I haven’t been involved with it since I was a teenager.

Since I can’t reply to the actual post you made about the pastor, I’m judging him by the way he treats the music program, and the way he presents himself. I will give the man credit for having good willpower as he is a recovering addict of more than one sort. (Not sex)

That section really made me think a bit about what it is to be a Christian in willingly surrendering your life, your very self to the Lordship of Christ. Of course willing & chosen “slavery” is very different from forced involuntary slavery. As you shared from Romans 6:
“12 Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires.
13 Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.
14 Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.
15 Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not!
16 Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.
17 Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you wholeheartedly obey this teaching we have given you.

Another scripture comes to mind that could somewhat reflect our choice as Christians in our “slavery” to God: From Exodus 21, KJV
“2 If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.
3 If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.
4 If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself.
5 And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:
6 Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.”
Other scriptural passages pertaining to slavery might be more applicable to the employer/employee rather than master/servant/slave relationship reminding us to conduct ourselves honorably on either/both sides of the equation…like this passage in Ephesians 6 NIV:
“5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. 6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. 7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, 8 because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.
9 And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.”

And then there is this passage from I Corinthians 7 NIV which puts things into perspective:
“21 Were you a slave when you were called? Don’t let it trouble you—although if you can gain your freedom, do so. 22 For the one who was a slave when called to faith in the Lord is the Lord’s freed person; similarly, the one who was free when called is Christ’s slave. 23 You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of human beings. 24 Brothers and sisters, each person, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation they were in when God called them.”
It’s an historic irony that passages about slavery were used to both justify that societal evil & to teach abolitionist thinking & eventually destroy that abomination!

I’ve been watching Right Side’s coverage of the shooting. One woman said she looked the shooter (or one shooter) in the eye, and another said the police told her one shooter was dead and another was on the loose. The witnesses are talking openly and posting their experiences to social media. I don’t know if that latter report is true, but my point is that people with that kind of inside knowledge of an event like this have been known to die under mysterious circumstances later. It all depends on the narrative “they” want the public to believe. Any eyewitness who saw something different is in grave danger, IMO, and I think it’s best to keep quiet.
