Sliced and Roasted w/Olive oil, black lemon pepper, and garlic??? Sorry, I don’t know turnips 🥴🥴

Okay, a very quick look in my files….decided not to send the scalloped turnip recipe because I know you have many versions of scalloped potatoes…just use one of them, slice the turnips very thin.
Another easy casserole-type..
2 lb turnips, peeled and chopped
1/4 cup butter, divided
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cups (6 oz) grated cheddar cheese, (white if you have it)
1/2 tsp salt & pepper, each
1/3 cup seasoned breadcrumbs or Panko
Boil turnips about 20 minutes, until tender. Drain well, transfer to large bowl and mash with potato masher.
Melt 1 tbsp butter in skillet, medium heat,
Add onion, sauté until tender (3 min)
Add onion, milk, 1 cup cheese, salt, pepper and remaining 3 tbsp butter to mashed turnips. Combine.
Spoon into lightly greased 7×11” baking dish. Sprinkle with crumbs and remaining cheese.
Bake 350 for 30 minutes or lightly brown.
Another totally different dish is called Sicilian baked turnips.
Basically it’s a layered dish using
Sliced peeled turnips (1/4”)
Red onion, sliced paper thin
Sliced Plum tomatoes, (1/4”)
Amounts of your choice but for a 9 x 13” pan.. 4 Med.Turnips, 1 medium onion, several plum tomatoes.
Lightly greased baking dish.
Half of the turnips in overlapping pattern..half of the onion over that and half of the tomatoes.
Brush tomatoes with about 1tsp olive oil. Then season with salt, pepper and some oregano.
Do it again.
Cover with foil and bake 350 about 55-60 minutes or until turnips test tender.
Remove foil and broil about 3-4 minutes to create crust on surface of tomatoes.
Can be served hot or room temperature, so it’s a good make ahead dish.
