Matthew 22:35-40
35 Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 The whole Law and the writings of the Prophets depend on these two commandments.”
Love – how important? So important that all of the Old Testament Law and all of the writings of the Old Testament prophets depend on it!
John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Love – the characteristic that Christians must embody by which the world will recognize us!
1 Corinthians 13:13
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Faith, hope and love . . . all important! But the greatest of the three is love!
John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
There is no greater love than Jesus’ sacrifice for us.
The culmination of Advent, after faith & hope, peace and joy is love, agapé love . . . and rightfully so. God’s agapé love for us is the reason for the entire existence of mankind.
Agapé love is a specific kind of love. It is founded in willful actions to put the welfare of others above yourself as in “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” And “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
An example: Empathy or sympathy may involve understanding of and emotion toward an old, frail bag lady struggling painfully up the stairs, but agapé love walks over to that foul-smelling lady and takes her bag and her arm and helps her up the stairs.
God chose us in Him before He laid the foundation of the earth and has destined us for a wondrous eternal future with Himself and Jesus. God’s plan, all that He has done from the Creation, through the Garden of Eden and all the events of the Old Testament; the birth, ministry, sacrifice, resurrection and 2nd coming of Jesus; through the events of Revelation . . . all of that leads to our eternity with God and Jesus . . . and has been and will be carried out because of God’s agapé love for us.
Why do I think it’s all because of God’s agapé love for us? Because “In love [agapé] He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will – to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He loves.” In agapé, God planned each person’s existence, from birth through eternity, all before He laid the foundation of the earth.
“Wondrous eternal future” . . . what do we know about that? Well, certainly not a lot, but since “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has anyone imagined the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”, we can be assured it will be wondrous.
And since “The kingdom of God is . . . righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”, I think we can solidly plan on righteousness, peace and joy in God’s eternity.
We even have a foretaste of what we’ll be doing . . . God granted Jesus “authority over all people that He might give eternal life to all those You have given Him. Now this is eternal life: that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.”
The word “know” (γινώσκω, ginóskó), used above, means to know, especially through personal experience. It will take an eternity, getting to know God, Who is omniscient, and Whose thoughts are not our thoughts, nor are our ways His ways, for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His ways higher than our ways, and His thoughts higher than our thoughts. And “How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!”.
“Take an eternity” . . . we shouldn’t overlook the enormity of this statement. “As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, or if due to strength, eighty years,”. We are only on this earth for an infinitesimally short time, compared to eternity, before we whither, like leaves, and are blown away. Eternity is forever. Never ending. Our true home.
This is the future love that Advent points us to. When this sinks in, it’s very difficult, perhaps impossible, not to experience the hope, peace and joy associated with the first three Sundays of Advent. Give to God the thanks, praise and love He deserves many times over.
May we all experience the hope, peace and joy of this Advent season as a result of God’s agape love, and may we return our praise, thanks and love to God for the unmerited favor we have received and will receive from Him.

The governor should say, sentencing someone to such a draconian punishment for burning a rainbow flag, or any flag, insults the people whose flag it is. Flags represent people and countries; neither of which is permanently damaged by an impulsive act such as this. In America it is constitutionally protected to burn our flag which represents a lot of meaning to a lot of people. No different principle should apply to the rainbow flag.
This is why I have issued this pardon – to ensure equality under the law for Iowans. I expect that the Legislature will fix the law so that this miscarriage of justice cannot occur again.
Be warned – this pardon should not be misinterpreted as authorizing any similar acts in the future.

This is for Plain Jane – how to cook the Prime Rib, from Karl, the old Milwaukee Butcher.
The size of the roast makes no difference. Have Rib Roast at room temp; season well. Place in a preheated 375 degree oven and roast for one hour.
Then, turn oven off.
DO NOT open the door for any reason.
Roast may sit this way for 4-5 hours. Turn oven back on when ready to serve. Roast 30 minutes for rare, and 40 minutes for medium rare.
Carve and serve at once.
Same temp for the 2nd roasting?

Many Prime rib recipes call for a 15 minutes stretch at about 500 degrees to “sear the outside”. When we do a Cajun Beef Tenderloin, I will sear at high temp on a stovetop to “seal in the juices”.
THIS recipe, is fine at 375 degrees, but I PAM (used as a verb=to PAM), the outside to seal in juices.

I have just been learning about searing meat. From Professional Cooking, 9th Edition by Wayne Gisslen:
“Searing meats at high heat creates desirable flavor and color by browning the surfaces. It was long believed that searing the surface of meat “seals the pores,” keeping in juices. This does not actually happen. Meat does not have pores but rather an open network of fibers…There are no pores to seal. It is true that heavy browning creates a kind of crust on the surface of the meat, but this crust is no more waterproof than an unbrowned surface…Roasts cooked from the start at a low temperature retain more juices than roasts that are seared at high heat first.”
It goes on and on, but advocates roasting from start to finish in a 300 degree oven. Temp at 130 degrees for medium, and resting meat for 30 minutes in a warm place before carving.
I like the look and taste of a browned roast, so I’m going to try the reverse browning at the end of roasting.
All that said, I have had roasts cooked just as you suggest and they have always been perfect. 😁

Believe it or not, this was the less expensive private sector idea. Each unit costs around $20k. The government is currently building 1 of 2 similar places using taxpayer dollars in upscale Venice Beach with each unit costing around $600k!!!! The public idea is away from the city where costs are much lower. Nonetheless, I expect whatever they build to be trashed in a matter of time. Unless they enforce strict rules, take away the drugs, and treat the mentally ill, it’ll be another very expensive social experiment.

There is NOTHING in the Constitution that says the Senate has to wait upon the pleasure of the House once they pass the articles.

It’s been difficult for me to write about #QAnon for some time now.
When I started this site, I never expected it to dovetail with the #QMovement quite like it has. And who could have possibly predicting such at thing? I was just an angry /pol/lack exiled from Facebook, looking to assert my presence online in a censorship-free environment. I was frustrated with the deplatforming that was going on, and was determined to start publishing my content in an arena where I had total control over what I posted – even if that meant I had to build the platform to make it happen myself. I covered all manner of Anon-related topics; not just Q. I started to cover Q because it, like so many other conversations, were happening in the world Anons occupied. I had no idea this Q thing was going to grow like it has, nor did I fully realize the vast implications Q would have on the world at the time when I first built this site. Truly, it was a confluence of being in the right place, at the right time.
I was simply pursuing what interested me, personally, and pouring that out to the world, in the best way I knew how. And in a weird way, I suppose I was searching for some kind of hope for the future. Anyone who read my book knows that, frankly, I didn’t have much at the time. I, like so many others, was swept up in the cultural drama – looking for a solution, a way out. And the more I began to dive into what Q was saying, I realized that Q offered that, in some sense – or at least, in a greater degree than anything else. In my mind, if the world was going to come crumbling down all around us, I at least owed it to myself and everyone else to give what Q was saying a shot. Nothing to lose, right? Things at the end of the Obama era had gotten so bad, I figured either we all die in the Great Boogaloo, or we can give Q a shot. If this whole Q-thing works, all the better. And if it doesn’t, well… at least we gave it the old college try. Or so spirals the logic.
But – I almost hate to admit this, and undoubtedly this will be used by naysayers against me – I’m not sure I’m really interested in Q any more.

I can see that – be first – with the latest – sad – and his articles are so long – he loses his readers – it is one thing when Q references past posts – it is another thing when one jumps from here to there -to this to that – without any rhyme or reason – makes it more difficult for the reader to follow – I hear you!
Agree. I tried to read his book on Q, but about 90% of the first third of the book was all about him and not about Q. I’m surprised I got that far. But anyone trying to learn about Q wouldn’t have got much from his book.
From what I’ve read of NR, I get the idea that he’s in his mid-30s, maybe, and has not had much in the way of adversity in life other than not being able to sell screenplays.
Sorry, but that’s not a recipe for humility.

Thank you! I see an immature game player who is smart but whines at any opportunity. He has fawning fans who hang on his every word. Sometimes I get insight from his Gab site, but I will not be getting his book. His articles are way too wordy, for one thing.
IMO, it is appalling that, a few months after he writes a book about Q, he decides he will be done with Q if there are no indictments by the end of this year. And every now and then, he complains about the character of Q’s posts (too repetitive, no new info, rah-rah but no substance). He doesn’t seem to realize that we need to hear from Q even if he can’t impart anything new at the moment.
I also disagree with his conclusions in thet article (what I saw of them; I skimmed it). Q provides disinfo as well as info, and from what I see, Q wants us to focus on the political side of things right now.

I have two old Shetlands in a paddock just outside my door. Since they have lost their grinding teeth, they have to be fed ‘ mush’ three times a day.
At first we TRIED dumping the mush in a large bowl. The smaller pony would reach under the neck of the larger and quickly snatch the bowl away. Unfortunately they were a bit too aggressive and knocked Hubby down. Now I have them trained. Open the gate and Big Guy wanders out to get his bit of grain. Meanwhile I take the smaller one’s grain into the pasture and feed him to the side of the gate. Back out the open gate for the large bucket of soaked hay pellets (mush) and dump it in the large bowl WITHOUT a couple of pony noses in the way. By this time Big Guy has finished and wanders back in and heads for the bowl of mush.
Now, if Hubby feeds he is no longer in danger of Big Guy, who LOVES to rub his head on you, knocking him over. Big Guy is a real character. I gave up wearing belts because he was always unbuckling my belt. I swear that pony has a sense of humor.
The minis, like the guy above, are in the Shetland stud book BTW. Shetlands are VERY smart, strong and calm ponies. My favorite of the pony breeds. I have nine.

Big Guy lost the sight in his left eye and he will lightly touch my hand with his whiskers so he knows where I am when I am leading him. You would never know he has lost his sight in that eye because he has adapted so well. He will even turn to the left when I ask even though he can not see where I want him to go.
