WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE CHINESE CORONA VIRUS.
1. China does not have enough tests kits to document all suspected cases. The test can easily show a negative for people with the disease. Politically, China has good reason to lie. Also since it is a deep lung infection a cheek or throat swap can give a false positive. Coughed up sputum gives 11% more positives.
2. The virus attaches to ACE2 expressers deep in the lungs.
Men have 4 times as many ACE2 expressers as women and are 3 times as likely to get it.
Asians have 5 times as many as Africans/Europeans.
In early stats, (Jan2 – 41 people) less than half had underlying diseases BUT it does affect those with chronic inflammatory diseases including diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease (probably asthma too.)
3. Those without symptoms or with very mild symptoms can spread it. It can be spread via coughs, contact surfaces and with feces. Diarrhea is one of the possible symptoms. (Not good for San Fran-feces.)

4. We do not know how many without symptoms may have come over on early flights. Running a temperature many not appear immediately after contact with the virus.

CONCLUSION
The virus is probably ‘free’ here in the USA. I t is more severe for men, especially older men and older people with chronic inflammatory disease. It requires a long hospital stay. Children may show little sign of the disease.

A VERY over-simplified version of how viruses work, immune boosting, and what you can do NOW. This is esp helpful for at risk age groups, but good for everyone.
Those spikes you see on virus pics allow it to puncture your cell wall and use the inside of your cell for food. Immune boosters help strengthen your cell wall, among other things.

Your lymphatic system runs along (mostly) the same paths that your blood vessels use. However, your lymph system doesn’t have a “pump” the way your blood vessels have your heart to move things along. Your lymphatic system helps with your blood system to drain out the debris from your dead cell walls, dead virus cell, and white cells, etc. Keeping your lymphatic system clear of debris is why you are told to drink lots of fluids when you get sick. For fever, Tylenol or Motrin. Some people don’t do fever control, as the higher temperatures help kill the virus, but I have seen seizures happen from this, so I think fever control is a good thing. As I said above, the name of the game is to SLOW down the spread. President Trump did just that by IGNORING UN-WHO, the CDC and the idiot, Tom Inglesby at Johns Hopkins, ALL of whom are FAR MORE concerned about CHINA’s TRADE than about stopping the pandemic.

If we can slow the spread, & beef up our immune systems, than the hospitals can handle the case loads. Also the longer it takes to get to the USA the more likely the virus will mutate into a less virulent form.

1. Our distribution system is far superior and would help us.
2. We have running water. Lot of people don’t realize, maybe 600 million in China have moved to what we might call Middle Class, most of China is extremely rural.
3. Add— how we handle waste, as in our garbage.
4. General hygiene in the USA is far better. We have toilets. I don’t mean to be gross but we don’t need bidets because we take showers all the time. We take a shower every day and think Europeans are crazy if they only bath once a week.
5. Add Twitter, FB, media, in the USA. Try to imagine a bunch of paid functionaries dragging a guy like Wolfie out of his home, against his wishes, to a hospital with no exit signs. Better yet, can you imagine someone living down the street from Gail Combs with full blown CV, and Gail staying quiet about it? No way. And forget only having a reaction on the right, the LEFT would be in full blown meltdown. They’re spoiled rotten, don’t know what a cow looks like, let alone be late with their latte. They would create such an uproar the press and gov’t could not ignore them.

I also think – if this begins to look like a real crisis in USA ie shortage of medical supplies, etc. the Trump admin would treat this like war time, meaning domestic facilities would quickly ramp up to produce pharmaceuticals we now import (not just antiviral but the everyday meds so many of us take), protective gear and anything else that is a necessity If facing an import shortage.
We citizens have not truly been tested since WWII on what the homefront can accomplish if need be. There are enough Boomer offspring of the Greatest Generation that we can kick it into gear if we need to. The VietNam vets and Cajun boat guys come to mind as examples of those who will rise to the occasion. Heck I’d even go work on an assembly line if it comes to that.
There would be no greater President than Trump in war time.

It is worth pointing out that if the crematory figures (per @anilvohra69 and based on numbers given by workers at these facilities) are the TRUE figures about REPORTED deaths from the Wuhan Coronavirus, then it is ENTIRELY possible that the “official” death rate is UNDER STATED by a factor of about 53.8.
49,000 deaths per the crematory figures divided by the “official” figure of 910 deaths = 53.846
Therefore it can then be inferred that the ACTUAL infection figures are MUCH higher than the “official” figures for Communist China. And these ACTUAL infection figures would count ONLY the persons crammed into the “instant hospitals” in Wuhan City / Hubei. NOT counted would be the THOUSANDS pf people infected / dying / dead, in their locked down or welded shut apartment buildings.
Question — How can there now be over 100 persons infected by the virus on the Diamond Princess, if the passengers have NO contact with each other and are quarantined in their cabins? Does the virus then travel through the air ducts / heating and cooling systems / via the toilets? From one balcony to another if an infected person coughs or sneezes in the open air? Are there crew and/or staff infected and are still on the boat?
I read an article which stated that the cases reported supposedly developed before the quarantine was implemented. There is a 2-11 day incubation period, average about 6-7 days.
If the first symptoms to death time span is 7 to 10 days or more AND the number of cases confirmed is exponentially increasing, then you have to do the math using January 30th deaths and January 20th cases to get a reasonable idea of the death rate.

This was only 5 days ago . . . but the virus can have up to a 14-day incubation. Additionally, since groups are confined in their cabins, the virus can be slowly developing in infected persons in those cabins and then spreading to unaffected persons in the same cabins at a later time.
It’s up to 60 people on the same cruise ship now.
Just added another 30 this morning.
The thing about cruise ships and ventilation, is that half the cabins are are the exterior of the ship where changing the air is not dependent on forced air. Isolation would be better done with the balcony doors open where the salt air can flow through, but I doubt that was the way it was presented.

I thought that an initial study showed “A comparison between eight individual samples demonstrated that the Asian male one has an extremely large number of ACE2-expressing cells in the lung.” And “No association was detected between the ACE2-expressing cell number and the age or smoking status of donors.”
But a later, larger study concluded that the difference in ACE-2 cells was primarily or wholly the result of smoking status. And that in China about 50% of the men smoked, bu only 2% of the women smoked. The study was described via a video.

Gail, I shouldn’t comment without viewing the video but I just vacuum seal (Food Saver) those things in quart jars and they work perfectly. I’ve used vacuum sealed chocolate chips, raisins, crackers, etc. after 2-3 years and they are perfectly fresh.
I also have a dehydrator and dry lots of fresh things in the summer when they are abundant and cheap…for example, squash or tomatoes. I can slice and dry an entire head of cabbage and it fits into a quart jar…same with a pound of hamburger. When I think of it, I’ll get a frozen package of veggies (peas, green beans, carrots) for less than $1 at Aldi’s… dry it…put it into a jar and seal it for soups, stews, etc. Saves freezer space, always a premium at my house.

I use a Food Saver that does both…one of the best things I’ve bought to use in kitchen. It comes with an attachment for regular and wide lid jars. Place it over a filled jar with lid on ..it removes all the air out within a few seconds and you hear “pop” (meaning it’s sealed.) can open to use part of contents and resealed. No need to used bags in jars.

If you are limited on funds, head out to a store that sells bulk (WinCo https://www.wincofoods.com/ is excellent). You can buy 50 pound bags of flour, sugar, salt, etc., for a really good price. They sell popcorn in bulk, too, Cheap and filling.
Canned fish is cheap and provides protein and stores well, as does any canned good. You can store butter and olive oil (in plastic bottles) in the freezer. Olive oil freezes very well.
My grandson’s school just sent home a FEMA booklet to parents today that instructs what to do in the event of a terrorist attack, a biological attack, etc.

Gilead Sciences is considering repositioning NUC inhibitor remdesivir as a treatment for the coronavirus now sweeping across parts of China. The antiviral last made headlines when Gilead tested it, with little success, as a treatment for Ebola virus.
As happened during the Ebola outbreak, the surge in cases of infection with a potentially fatal strain of the coronavirus in parts of China has led to a flurry of statements from biotechs with assets they claim could help keep the virus under control. Gilead became the latest drug developer to throw its hat into ring when it issued statements about its plans to Bloomberg Law and Reuters.
“Gilead is in active discussions with researchers and clinicians in the United States and China regarding the ongoing Wuhan coronavirus outbreak and the potential use of remdesivir as an investigational treatment,” the big biotech said.
Based on previous outbreaks, few, if any, of the programs now being talked up will lead to drugs that make a difference, either therapeutically or commercially. However, Gilead is in a slightly different position than some of the other companies with an interest in the virus.
Whereas Moderna is applying its untested “rapid response capability” to the development of a new mRNA vaccine and other companies are at similarly early stages, Gilead has a drug that has already been tested in humans. That positions Gilead to respond more quickly to the outbreak, although it also leaves scope to doubt whether it has a drug capable of tackling coronavirus.
Gilead pushed remdesivir forward quickly in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases in response to the West African Ebola virus epidemic that began in 2013. The R&D program culminated in a randomized controlled clinical trial that tested remdesivir and three other drugs in patients with Ebola.
The trial found two of the drugs were more effective than remdesivir, putting an end to efforts to establish the NUC inhibitor as a treatment option in Ebola. Despite the setback, remdesivir could emerge as a potential treatment for coronavirus.

Half, at least, are stuck in place half with recycled, stagnant air on a forced air system. The other half most likely have balconies on the outside to filter with fresh air.
Food is prepared in a common kitchen in the middle of the ship, again with forced air, by workers who may well be infected themselves.
Potable water is conserved when possible even with desalinization plants on the ships now.
All the way around, those people are trapped and it’s going to be a miracle if no new cases pop up.
I haven’t been on any of the big ships, but even with 2000 passengers, 750-1,000 crew, the quarters are cramped, and in the cabins, it’s even worse. I mean most of the cabins I’ve stayed in were smaller than the room I’m sitting in.

Buy a cheap $15 box fan. Duct tape the back of the fan (intake of air) with a flour sack dish towel. Spray it with hairspray (makes it sticky). Turn the fan on full blast to remove air born dust, pollen, and clear a room in nothing flat. I use it religiously when the guys are working in the house.
It’s like a giant HEPPA filter.

IF this report is true, it represents in my opinion a picture on the REAL situation in Communist China:

The thing that gets me are the repeated attempts to link the Wuhan Coronavirus with the FLU — “the CDC says to get your flu shot” is at the end of the CBS46 article. Everything I’ve read about the Wuhan virus tells me that they are separate entities. It would be well to have on hand, now, all supplies for the household for 3 – 6 months. This includes items to keep family members busy (board games / puzzles / books), plus materials to homeschool children.
And if, by Divine Providence, the supplies are not used, no harm is done — they can be saved for the hurricane / snowstorm down the road.
And keeping VERY tight-lipped regarding all the above — “nosy neighbors”, the cousins who “arrive” for a “visit” because they didn’t gather in anything for their own household, etc.
It may be well to have plans ready to “signal” household members at a moment’s notice to get home, in the event that one hears (either via social media, or by the Emergency Broadcast System, for example) — that your locality is being quarantined by federal or state order effective immediately.
Let’s see . . .
Supplies for 3 – 6 months . . . workin’ on it. Well on the way.
Tight lipped . . . no one knows or will know.

2. Chinese with ties to China are more likely to use traditional medicine.

With 60,000 flights from Wuhan, an average of 140 passengers per flight = 8,400,000 people.
HOW MANY of those people were carriers of the virus?

Getting reasonably prepared to quarantine a significant number of people because of unknown exposure to the WuFlu would not be an overnight venture, and it is undoubtedly prudent to get things in place well ahead of time.
When you need facilities such as these, you need them NOW. Waiting for the need and then responding without prior preparations is a recipe for disaster.
All this tells us, on the negative side, is that they’re not ruling out the need for quarantine facilities.

Now — working from the figures given several days ago by workers at the 49 operating crematories IN WUHAN — one can posit that Beijing is UNDER STATING the TRUE figures of infected and died BY A FACTOR of 54,5 —
60,000 “official” infected divided by “official” deaths of 1100 (rounded up) = 54.545454…
Which would then mean that the TRUE figures would be:
3,270,000 infected (60,000 x 54.5)
And deaths would be:
59,950
Even IF these figures are too high, given that the empirical evidence (reports from MD’s in Wuhan medical facilities) of a 16% fatality rate, AND still using the “official” figures of infected from Beijing, one gets an ACTUAL death figure of 9,600 — 60,000 x 0.16 = 9600.
No matter how you slice it, Beijing IS LYING about the numbers of infected / dead / “recovered”.
And — FLASH! — the WHO has just demanded to know from Beijing WHY there is this “sudden jump” of infections from about 40,000 “official” to 60,000 “official”.

San Antonio now has one confirmed case of Coronavirus and we are being told they’re may be more. Part of 91 brought in by plane from China last week and put into quarantine at Lackland AFB. The confirmed case has been moved to an undisclosed hospital in the area.
This plane load is one of many that the US has accepted and in which passengers are put into quarantine upon arrival. I trust that information is in one of the Corornavirus threads.

There are more and more disparate pieces of evidence that, when added up, represent an apparent set of information that is NOW KNOWN at the HIGHEST LEVELS of the United States government —
Why, all of a sudden, did DoD Sec. ESPER increase the number of U.S. military facilities being made ready / already in use, for isolation or Quarantine, of U.S. citizens, from 4 bases to 11 bases?
Why did the US Fire Administration send out a directive regarding how to deal with the Wuhan Coronavirus in terms of First Responders / firefighters?
Why did the CDC issue directives to U.S. employers about how to get ready to respond to a Wuhan Coronavirus pandemic being declared in the United States?
Why did LA County issue a directive to all First Responders about how to deal with Wuhan Coronavirus when responding to an emergency call?
Why did the Defense Department issue a directive to the U.S. Northern Command to all branches regarding preparing for a Wuhan Coronavirus outbreak in the United States? (DoD 3551-13)
It would appear that these levels of government seem to know information that is DIFFERENT from what the general public is being told.
If this is so, it would then be reasonable to FINISH TO COMPLETION quite soon, the gathering of household supplies, finalization of action plans, and other preparations, for what may be coming faster than anybody thought.
I didn’t keep the refernce, but if I remember it correctly, the Ro of the WuFlu is now thought to be from 4 to about 6. That’s a very high growth rate. If that’s so, when members of the general population start getting this flu, it will spread rapidly. So, we will need an ample supply of facilities where we can isolate exposed people and people that may have been exposed.
This is clearly a situation where it’s better to develop an excess capability that may not ever be used as opposed to being caught short.
Also, a very useful data point would be the capacity of each of these facilities. At 200 apiece, they would probably be inadequate. At 20,000 apiece, then . . . ??? I really don’t know, but I’ll come down on the side of over preparation.
It appears that the Ro (reproduction rate) of the virus is anywhere between 2.4 – 4.7 – 6.6.
An Ro of 4.7 – 6.6 is the equivalent to the reproduction rate for RUBELLA, POLIO, and SMALL POX.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — It’s possible to get infected by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) a second time, according to doctors on the frontline in China’s city of Wuhan, leading to death from heart failure in some cases.
The claim is made by doctors working in the Hubei Province capital that is at the center of the epidemic, which has to date infected 64,201 people and killed 1,487. One of the doctors reached out to a relative living in the United Kingdom, who then informed Taiwan News.
Both the relative and doctors asked to remain anonymous, out of consideration they might face retribution from the Chinese authorities. The doctor, Li Wenliang (李文亮), who first raised warnings about the Wuhan virus, was rebuked by the authorities before succumbing to the devastating disease himself earlier this month.
According to the message forwarded to Taiwan News, “It’s highly possible to get infected a second time. A few people recovered from the first time by their own immune system, but the meds they use are damaging their heart tissue, and when they get it the second time, the antibody doesn’t help but makes it worse, and they die a sudden death from heart failure.”
The source also said the virus has “outsmarted all of us,” as it can hide symptoms for up to 24 days. This assertion has been made independently elsewhere, with Chinese pulmonologist Zhong Nanshan (鍾南山) saying the average incubation period is three days, but it can take as little as one day and up to 24 days to develop symptoms.
Also, the source said that false negative tests for the virus are fairly common. “It can fool the test kit – there were cases that they found, the CT scan shows both lungs are fully infected but the test came back negative four times. The fifth test came back positive.”
According to the BBC and other media outlets, some laboratory tests are incorrectly telling people they are virus-free. There is also anecdotal evidence of people having up to six negative results before being diagnosed correctly.
Dr. Li Wenliang first raised concerns about this. His own test results had come back negative multiple times before he was finally diagnosed.
False negative tests raise question marks over how many people have the Wuhan coronavirus, with many believing the Chinese authorities have massively underreported the number of cases and deaths. Meanwhile, the official methodology for diagnosing the virus in China was changed this week, leading to a sudden leap in the number of recorded cases and deaths.

I have wondered if the 2nd time infections were maybe relapses instead. And maybe that was indication of releasing people too soon. It seemed odd to me that with the virus being so new and most of the “recovered” only recovering recently that they people would have had time to completely recover and then catch it again and die.
And are the heart attacks/failure due to the meds weakening the heart or the virus weakening the heart? If meds, which meds?
Maybe we need to reminder ourselves to not think that because your symptoms are gone, your illness is 100% gone with this virus. But this is Always true with other viruses too! How many times do the symptoms go away from a flu/cold/gen. virus and we think we are fine, try to jump back into life only to have a relapse?
I explain to my son to think of our virus/infection/germs as our body doing battle and they are the enemy. Just because the majority of the enemy are defeated to the point that victory is obvious and even assured, we do not turn our back on the enemy and stop fighting. We have to finish the fight, the war, until victory and the enemy is defeated. If we do turn our back on the enemy, disengage, stop the fighting/actions that were taking us to victory the enemy will often then regroup and resurge, gaining back ground, inflicting harm and forcing us to fight much harder than when we almost had them defeated.
Same viruses/illnesses. Just because symptoms dissipate or even completely disappear, we are actually still going through the illness, our bodies are still battling and we must still act is if we are sick in many ways.
Son just had a virus. Made him cont. herbal teas, essential oils, low activity (no exercise, punching bag, martial arts, anything that made his body work too hard but did send him on several leisurely walks with the dog for some fresh air and sunshine while well bundled), healthy food, no sugar, plenty of ferment, homemade broth, and resting periods.
Plus No time in the general public for 2 full days after temperature completely normal because a) he could still be shedding the virus and b) his immune system is down and I don’t want him to catch anything else.
So, when symptoms are gone: yes, to more housework and yes, to more school work but all the rest stays almost the same as if he were sick for several more days as his body finishes up the fight.
How much of that time we need to “recover” is us just still being sick just not as sick? And yes, the body Does need time to build back up but it might also still be getting rid of whatever it was that made you sick in the first place.
Kind of like a graph with the peak of the number of active “enemies” in our body when we feel the worst and have the most symptoms and then the line plotting the level of “enemies” slides below acute systems, continues to fall even below the line of visible and physically felt symptoms …. but the line charting the active “enemies”/bacteria/”germs” is not yet at Zero. Until at Zero or close to it, we still must cont being aware they are there, even if we don’t stay in bed at that point. Keep aiding your body, keep your exposure to other germs low and we need to do our best to not have a relapse as relapse of this virus is terribly hard on the body.

EPIDEMIC TRENDS ANALYSIS AND RISK ESTIMATION OF 2019-NCOV OUTBREAK
Abstract
Background: Since the outbreak of coronaviruses on December 8, 2019, the spread of new coronaviruses is increasing. With no specific medicine, analysis of epidemic trends is critical for disease control and epidemic risk management. Methods: We collected information on demographic characteristics, exposure history, and illness timelines of laboratory-confirmed cases of NCIP that had been reported by Feburary 6, 2020.
Considering the huge population migration during the spring festival of China, a Flow-SEIR model is proposed to perform empirical analysis. Assuming that most of people will go back to work from February 10 to the end of February, the risk of the coming migration from home to workplace is defined and estimated, based on the confirmed cases and the Spring Festival migration data. We use data from Baidu Migration to estimate the coming migration for returning to the workplace after vacation from February 10 to 28, 2020.
The risk of migration for returning was then estimated. Main findings:
(1). The time when the number of daily new cases has reached a peak level, i.e. the national epidemic inflection point, is expected to be on February 7 – February 9.
After the inflection point, the number of infected people will grow slowly and the epidemic will be gradually controlled.
We define the temporal number of infected cases as the net cumulative number of cases. And the peak value represents the maximum of the net cumulative number, after this peak point, the current number of cases will gradually decrease and the epidemic will gradually subside.
The predicted peak value of confirmed cases in Hubei can reach 62800 (56900 – 70300, 0.95 CI). The peak time in Hubei is on February 29 (Feb. 25 – Mar. 08, 0.95 CI). The peak arrival time of areas except Hubei will be in the interval of Mar.8 – Mar. 15, 2020.
It will take about 1.5-2 months from the peak to the end of the epidemic. Most provinces have the predicted peak values less than 1000. The potential epidemic situation will be stable in March 2020- June 2020.
(2). Rather than larger outbreak, the estimated number of infective patients in Hubei (in which Wuhan is located) presents a front and steep feature, manifesting the overall trend that the epidemic tends to be consistent.
(3). The necessary consciousness of self-protection and isolation is very effective for epidemic prevention and control. It can reduce the number of patients by nearly 90%. The effect of self-protection and isolation is stronger than the policy of traffic blockage. Provincial level traffic blockage can only alleviate 21.06% – 22.38% of the peak number of patients.
(4). Early warning of epidemic situation is very important.In the experimental environment, the results show that if there is 1 day in advance of the timely urban blockage, about 3600 people will eventually be reduced in the country. If there is 1 day of delay, about 1800 people will finally be at risk.
(5). Assuming that the false negative rate is 50% and the potential transmission rate is 1-4 times higher than that of the confirmed patients, the real peak number of patients is likely to be between 214400-472500.
Suppose that the transmission rate of the false negative patient is twice that of the confirmed patient, if the false negative rate decreased by 5% in one week, the peak number of patients will slow down by 11.62%. If the proportion decreased by 10% in one week, the peak number of patients will decreased by 21.91%, which shows timely detection of false negative population is more effective for epidemic control.
(6). Under the natural condition, the return of Spring Festival transportation will aggravate the epidemic situation, especially for Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hunan, Henan, Shanghai, Fujian and Beijing. We did not perform the global propagation of 2019-nCoV because that the available initial data is not sufficient to make valuable conclusions.

Parts just do not stay put in RNA viruses. They do not replicate perfectly either, so mutate fast. Especially in mixed species populations. Part of why new flu tends to come from Asia is that they farm pigs in pens over water so their waste fertilizes the water, then ducks are raised on the pond. Rapid virus cycling from birds to pigs to people and back, gives rapid recombination with other virus types in the various hosts. Then the successful one can hitch a ride on migratory birds to the rest of the world.

Regarding gathering in supplies:
In my opinion, it is time to have this accomplished AND household action plans in place, by the end of February.
A 3 month gathering the minimum — better to have 6 months.
Water is imperative — think about what the household would do about water if the local water utility is shut down for some reason — like a virus loose in the system? It is NOT without the realm of possibility, given that the virus can be transmitted via toilet use / flushing; or by an infected person spitting into a sink and then running water..
If one has Subscriptions of food staples / paper products / OTC items, etc., from places like Amazon — perhaps time to double up on them and have them in hand.

This is just my take:
The lethal aspect of the virus is the attack against deep lungs.
The Chinese, esp. the men are heavy smokers. China is very crowded. China is notorious for the heavy air pollution. ALL three of these factors will increase the transmission and increase the likelihood of severe illness/death.
On top of that we in the USA are forewarned. Hopefully the hospitals are on the alert and also we have now found methods for alleviating the symptoms.
Last viruses mutate fast and it is likely the virus will mutate into a less lethal form.
This does not mean we should not plan ahead to protect ourselves and lessen our exposure.

Well, it now appears that the authorities are desperately trying to LOCATE these people, because one of them , an AMERICAN, had a TEMPERATURE at being scanned on arrival at the KUALA LUMPUR airport, and then tested POSITVE for the virus.
Knowing now that the prime incubation period for the virus, which MAY OR MAY NOT present symptoms, is 16 days, these 1,000 people, EVEN IF they are “cleared” at the moment, are still potential carriers.
Every once in awhile we read up to 24 days. Slow guy here can’t figure out IF 24 is in play. 16 days in above post? Moar commonly I read 14 days.
To give a reading on what may be in store fore us, I’m still waiting for some pockets of WuFlu to appear in some advanced, non-Asian countries . . . and then to closely watch the spread or eradication of that pocket.
Less pollution, less smoking, fewer ACE-2 receptors, and better awareness of isolation, quarantine, and medical treatment strategies should all combine to reduce the spread and severity of the cases.
To what degree? Well, that’s what I’m watching for.

From my understanding 14 days is typical ‘max’ while some people can go as long as 24 days before showing symptoms.

Actually recent experience under OH!Bummer proves otherwise. Doctors and nurses treating illegals were ordered to SHUT-UP about the number of cases of nasty diseases allowed into the USA. The ‘Optics’ of disease ridden illegals might destroy the ‘fluffy harmless’ image the news was fostering. Also immigration laws say if you are diseased you get booted. Instead the kids were released into our school systems and their parents into our food service/hotel/daycare systems. Now we have treatment resistant TB and lice, leprosy, hepatitis and who knows what else.

On TB . . . I taught a bunch of Cambodians and Vietnamese military during the summer of ’72 and, yup, bingo, had to take TB medicine for the next 2 years.
My son, while I was stationed in Philippines 79-82 took med (INH, IHN, ?) for two years. Periodic chest x-rays to verify he was clear. And no moar tine tests for him.

I have little trust in doctors after Strong Memorial used my mother for their ILLEGAL Radiation experiments and then finished her off with their trial experiments of Chemo therapy.
WORSE, since I am a chemist I had read about the side effects (weakens the heart) but I could not get either the cancer doctor OR the heart specialist to LISTEN. Turns out they were busy writing a paper with Mom as a guinea pig 😡 and did not want me ‘interfering’ One of the doctors let it slip when he yelled at me in the hall.
OH, and three of our neighbors were doctors who I babysat for, and KNEW what was going on and although they made references to the guy as ‘The Butcher’ would not really warn mom.
So yes, I can certainly see a wall of silence.
