20200309: Out of Hand Sanitizer? No Problem, Call a Felon.

Are you sitting down? This is real. Governor Andrew Cuomo did a presser today about Coronavirus, where he advertised hand sanitizer made by NYState prisoners. The presser was attended by Jimmy Vielkind, a reporter for the Wall Street Journal who covers NY politics.

Cuomo joked his product had a pleasing floral scent, later commenting that he was joking and wasn’t sure about the garden scent…….. but he did “detect a note of citrus”.

We’re serious. No kidding. Here is the announcement. 100K gallons a week, 75% alcohol. A note: Cuomo says NY’s sanitizer is 75% alcohol. I guess most are 60%, so Cuomo says that NY’s is better. Whoa, that’s some premier prison hand sanitizer. But the story gets better……

Oooohhhh, Governor Cuomo has a pretty endcap display for his prison hand sanitizer. He needs a great logo though, you know, tough guy like Mr. Clean…….. only more like MS13. How about this guy?

Cuomo says it costs $6 a gallon to make the NYS hand sanitizer. It’s being produced at the Great Meadow Correctional Facility in Washington County. The hand sanitizer is not available to the general public; it’s being provided, for free, to school districts & municipalities. Free? Why are we not surprised? No Dem seems to be able to run a business.

If you’re thinking the boss-man of NY is making money off of prison labor, it’s pretty close.

Apparently, prison wages start at 19 cents/hour and can rise to 65 cents/hour. Maybe Bernie should hole $15/hour rallies at Riker’s……..? Looks like he might find a constituency there. Sometimes though, the prisoner’s get “merit pay”, up to $1.30/hour. Is that like a Christmas bonus?

Of course, there are already protesters, lining up, to object to the low wages being paid to prisoners. It’s all so unjust, they insist. I’m guessing someone at the Soros Society already had the legislation ready to go. Will we see young female millennials with pre-printed signs protesting the “last vestiges of slavery”?

Just when you think it can’t get any more weird.

Nothing in a Dems world is really free, I wonder how Cuomo is makin a buck behind the shiny curtain?

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

The way I see it, they tax normies to pay China-style prisoners almost nothing and produce products that Cuomo Jong Un can hand out to whomever he pleases. Clearly that is a STEP toward some form of government that is on the tip of my tongue – some kind of ISM…….
Our President knows a GUY who runs a country like that. Maybe TWO countries like that……
Xi whiz, I kim almost think of it, but not quite…….

Democrats: You can’t make up this kind of stupid, even if you tried.

michaelh

I just want to know what genius though it was a good idea to give alcohol to a prison population.
Don’t tell me it’s rubbing alcohol. You know the prisoners don’t care.

michaelh

Yes it’s the kind of funny that is so absurd that you need a solid cinder block wall to repeatedly applly one’s forehead to, because even multiple facepalms is NOT enough

Cuppa Covfefe

Yep.
From Al Capone to Al Cohol….

Gail Combs

“I just want to know what genius though it was a good idea to give alcohol to a prison population.”
I would assume it is SD-40
(The additive makes you barf unless they have changed it since the last time I worked with the stuff.)
This review says it makes it taste ‘unpleasant’

Did she use the sanitizer on her hair?

Cuppa Covfefe

NAIR’y a bit… 🙂

Rodney Short

Looks like she used a whole gallon, I always wondered what she looked like without the fake wig.

What’s with the bald head? A symbolic gesture or fashion statement?

Katie

She’s been diagnosed with Alopecia. At least that’s her story.
I think it’s a side effect of her anti-American Trump Derangement syndrome.

redlegleader68

OK, I’ll jump in here: is that a Dude or Chick?
Askin’ for a friend … 😉

Cuppa Covfefe

Her hairstyle seems to have, erm, crossed the Jordan, so to speak…
(ducks and puns…).

Cuppa Covfefe

Oops. I was thinking of Charles Barkley…

Rodney Short

Lol it dont even know what it is today.

Cuppa Covfefe

I suspect he’ll want to wash his hands of any connection to that…

CORCRAFT is giving WALMART a whole new meaning.
It’s almost like American workers paid for Chinese political prisons with their wages.

New York taxpayers and voters are responsible for this mess as much as the crooked politicians.

Gotta split the state.

Fuck it… I’m out when I get the chance!
New York has fallen.

I’m afraid to ask what’s next? Hey manufacturing coming to the USA

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

It’s almost as if whatever they were trying to do to politicize the coronavirus has failed, and they don’t know what to do now.

“Whoa, that’s some premier prison hand sanitizer.”
______________
Everybody knows prisoners make the best sanitizer.
Prisoners are naturally more conscientious than others about things like personal hygiene, a clean work environment, quality control, ethics, etc.
Everybody knows

I was originally drawn to this song by the back-up singer girls, and just the general ‘feel’ of the music. Lyrics are usually secondary for me, at least at first. If the music doesn’t grab you somehow, then there’s really not much that any lyrics can do to salvage it.
Eric Clapton usually had female back-up singers, and Leonard did too, and Bob Marley, and I have always liked that sound, with women singing backing vocals.
It just sounds right, and really makes the song.
But then I paid attention to the words, and like so many of Leonard’s songs, it’s rather extraordinary. It’s so dark (and even timely, considering certain current events) that it almost pushes through to the other side 😁
He often changed or added verses over time during live performances, like Bob Dylan. I can usually tell which verses or turn of a phrase Leonard was not completely satisfied with, because the ones he absolutely nailed (which is most of them) stand out so clearly by comparison.
But it’s the angelic sound of the back-up girls that pulls it all together, and makes it all work 😎
The women in his band for the video above (and many others) are Sharon Robinson and the Webb sisters (Charley and Hattie), who also sang back-up for Tom Petty.

Now these are my kind of backup singers……technically not singers…but that’s OK!

PHC’s favorite too! 🥰

I’ve started making my own line of sanitizer. It’s a family moonshine/grain alcohol recipe made with pistachios and pomegranate and a touch of antibiotic. We are marketing under the name; “Smear-Nuf”; i.e you smear enough on your hands and the rest that doesn’t evaporate, you can lick off; it’s a dual purpose type sanitizer; protecting you on both the inside and outside.
After a few applications, you won’t give a shit when the market drops another 2,000 pts!
It will make you laugh hysterically at idiots like Cuomo; more so than normal.
It’s my own personal hedge fund against this national insanity currently under way.
BTW, you can also pour it over your head to douse your hair-on-fire after watching cable news for 2 minutes.
Shit, I don’t even watch generally sane people like Lou Dobbs or Tucker anymore because they’ve all gone cray-cray-over-the-top viral hysteria. I figure a couple more weeks of this beautiful 60 degree weather and this virus will sink into obscurity; just like Russia, Ukraine, impeachment, Warren, Budda-judge, Clinton.
Funny how the dems seem to be poised to nominate an old fart that is the male version of Hillary, except Ole Joe can’t control his mouth the same way Clinton couldn’t control her weird eye/head bobbing.
That’s the ticket….Biden/Clinton… a match made in La-La land.

Progressives are worried prisoners aren’t getting paid enough. 🙄🙄🙄

Cuppa Covfefe

Hmmm. Using their leftard logic, that means the perps have to pay back their victims AND society, before having ANY access to monetary remuneration… 😎
Ya do da crime, ya do da time…

Gail Combs

AND you work your buns off to pay for room and board AND FINES…

I’ve posted the following on Daughn’s latest, most excellent coronavirus thread.
HAND WASHING INFORMATION —
1/ Soap and water hygiene illustrated:

2/ Why soap and water work so well. Long — 39 tweet — thread from an Icelandic chemistry professor who teaches in Australia:
https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1236549305189597189.html

churchmouse

Excellent — many thanks!

Cuppa Covfefe

Thats a great thread!
There’s a sub-thread he references about virii that’s really good, too:
https://medium.com/@edwardnirenberg/sars-cov-2-and-the-lessons-we-have-to-learn-from-it-e2017fd5d3c
(the one from which the bar graph in his last tweet comes…). Plus, there’s a couple of videos about proper hand-washing which seems to be a lost art…

churchmouse

Thanks for the link. Have bookmarked.
My friends have made fun of me for washing my hands a) often during the day and b) for 20 seconds each time. Well, at least I practice the proper protocol.
I also take paper towels if I have to use a public convenience in the UK. No electric hand dryers for me. I read that years ago in a French Ministry of Health publication. Since then, it seems they’ve changed their minds. Dyson heavy duty hand dryers are everywhere now in France. Admittedly, they DO the job and in seconds.

Cuppa Covfefe

There’s a couple of hand-washing rap routines in the video the link references… kind of funny.
The one from the CDC would have been just as good if they had cut everything except the Asian nurse doing the six-step hand scrub.
The hardest habit to break is touching the eyes, nose, mouth or face. I just was thinking about all the crud in keyboards, mice, mousepads, and the surrounding area. Not to mention the various “colonies” formed around crumbs, etc., that made it into the keyboard (or under it)….
Then again, there’s “Like A Surgeon” by Weird Al Yankovic, which shows how NOT to do it 🙂
