1 – Scott Adams
Right now, many people are suffering grave confusion about the corona virus. They are NOT exhibiting what I now believe would be calm, constructive, aware, and SURVIVAL-BOUND [for everybody] patterns of thinking. They are in fact headed for trouble of their own making.
If not trouble for themselves, then trouble for others.
Many of you should prepare to be pissed off by what I say next.
At the one end, of what I regard as “wrong on corona”, are people who say “it’s all a hoax” – typically from the comfort of an age group that is unlikely or less likely to die. Yeah, they’re right – there IS a lot of bullshit here – TOTALLY ADMITTING THAT – and the enemies of Trump are pushing that bullshit hard. But remember – the SNEAKIER weapon than a purely disinformative pimping of a normal virus, is an ACTUAL BAD VIRUS, because then it can be weaponized for ALL KINDS OF ERROR.
Too much response. Too little response. Or just WRONG RESPONSE.
But yes, there are still some who believe corona is a COMPLETE hoax – that the whole world has turned a 100% nothingburger into a 100% fake “impossibleburger”. For them it is ALL a hoax. They will believe nothing else. They will FIGHT YOU over even the strongest and most scientific indication that there is a real virus that kills people of some age – of ANY age – more strongly than a normal bad flu. They are RELIGIOUSLY opposed to believing this thing has ANY reality. They are reactive to any argument, almost to the extent that shills are reactive to any argument.
My advice? Walk away – stay away – don’t invite them anywhere near you or those you love. Such people are not going to give a shit when they accidentally kill you or your parents in assisted living. They may be nice people, but they are dangerously myopic, and you cannot afford to be around such people right now. The accidentally infective are bad enough. The willfully infective are an unnecessary risk.
At the other end, are the people who think we’re all gonna die. These people are simply wrong. They – like the “no danger” crowd – are a RISK.

Yeah, don’t think for a moment that I’m not capable of CYNICALLY SYMPATHIZING with the two extremes I just dissed. I just do so from the position of STARK REALISM that both are right on some mutually exclusive things, so they can’t both be right on all things.
Andrew Torba and Gab have been kicked to the curb by so many dupes, foils, useful idiots, and controlled opposition groups – to say nothing of the very ENEMIES of those groups – that they have vision through complexities that most people don’t even begin to see as PRESENT.
So yeah – Torba sees right into the UNSPEAKABLE REALITIES of CORONAVIRUS.
I only suggest following him if you can HANDLE him, and – quite frankly – most cannot. However, viewpoints like Torba’s are actually a form of vaccination against many mental pathologies such as PC, so I really recommend following him if you can even BARELY STAND him.

You can really tell a lot about a journalist by whether the FAKE NEWS turns against them. This kind of brutal honesty is why the Fake News will do it.
Sharyl, in my opinion, has been one of the BRAVEST and most independent voices in medical reporting EVER. In my opinion you cannot be getting the complete picture without getting her take on things.

Zink I take when I feel am catching a cold like this week. I take Sambucus Elderberry zinc lozengeges to my vitamin regimen. They do help. My molecular biologist son tells me that it has been proven scientifically that they help against viruses.
Vitamin C, D and E I take daily.

Zinc, C, K, D3, Mg, garlic tabs and pro-biotics are my big 7. Kept me quite well throughout most flu seasons during the 40 + years of taking supplements. The chemo peeps said I cannot take anything other than the Mg, D3 and pro-biotics so I feel naked and exposed.
I don’t want to cause a run on tea tree oil :-), but I believe a good tea tree oil soap is one of the best to bath, wash face and hands, and wash out wounds with.

Zinc needs to be balanced to a sweet spot that takes care of viruses, and is part of a good defense during chemo – maybe you can re-start the discussion about depleted zinc levels, and they can view it that way. Have them CHECK your zinc levels. Zinc tends to be depleted in older people, and needs boosting, according to some source I read just recently.

I’m a Non Panic Type but Aware of Issues surrounding this virus…and I sure don’t want to get it…..this virus is still being studied, and new medical/scientific facts are being discovered, in the process….
imo, it is very important that this virus be taken seriously for what it is…it’s not The End of The World, we are not all doomed, we will not all die…
..but the virus is spreading and will continue to do so until it doesn’t..
..and : it is not like the flu.
NOW is the time to contain it and to be what some might consider melodramatic, OCD, if necessary, as compared to our normal behaviors when we would otherwise shop, play, travel, converge in crowded events, attend crowded events etc…
without a vaccine and/or natural resistance to COVID-19, the only way to contain it is to shut-down a lot social activities…this can cause many to become panicked b/c it is drastic…and b/c it will impact economies…the markets..and lifestyles…
we are about 50 days behind China…it is possible that this virus will intensify in the USA in the next weeks/months in terms of number of cases…the concern is also over how that will impact the health care services..
it is the spreading of it throughout communities that poses the threat…and the <clusters of the infected areas within the states and counties..
…so…pro-active measures and precautions must be taken… to control the spread of it ..
Disney (in Florida, California and France) and Universal have been shut down, Spring Break in Miami Beach has been cancelled (no permits will be issued), March Madness has been cancelled (Tampa)…
once we are being impacted byt his in our respective communities…imo…it becomes almost beside the point who started it, what various conspiracies might be at play, and all the other types of political hysteria associated with this..
when it hits YOUR community, it becomes real…and the focus shifts to surviving it and avoiding it and dealing with it as calmly as possible…with good solid common sense hygenic practices…in order to contain it.
so…there are a lot of different issues at play with this…the health side of it…and the political side of it…when the various issues get confused , the hysteria hypes up, and that does not help the situation at all, on the ground…
I also happen to think this thing may have been “by design”…eugenics ?…but that doesn’t help the situation on the ground..that just makes ppl more confused and distraught….I also am keeping an eye on the banks…lending…credit..the markets…but that, too, is a controversial topic..

Right now I am treating a goat for an eye infection. She has only stabbed me with her horns about four or five times a day.🤣 Thank goodness she is my tamest goat! The worst part was trying to remove the hay or whatever that was very tightly lodged in her tear duct. That took a couple of days for us to figure out and then finally get it out.

Rest, change in diet, working out. I started swimming again after a 25 year gap. Seems like I never left…well my stamina sucks but it works. Now I have to pause because of coronavirus but I will be back.
Excellent! Hope you can find a substitute for swimming. If you’re a life-long swimmer, maybe a swim spa makes sense, although I’ll bet there is a low-impact and better-priced substitute like walking that can fill in for now. Once they get a vaccine handle on all this, you can get back to the pool.
Quality sleep is so important. I see it in others – it just makes a huge difference!

Again, I worry more about influenza than this virus. The nursing home in Washington had had 7 deaths in the previous month. Nursing homes have high death rates. Bringing the virus into these elderly populations is a death sentence because these people are already compromised by pulmonary diseases, diabetes, heart disease, etc.

I have been told vitamin D alone is not enough. The combination of C and D, however, will achieve what people are seeking. I am no expert but it’s easy to do both so I do it.
Calcium is needed to absorb Vitamin D as well. People who don’t get calcium in their diet should make sure they’re taking a supplement.

Yes – I think this is going to prove to be a mess at the virus identification and then ancestry level. We have to remember that the ChiComs can accidentally or deliberately release both modified and unmodified SARS viruses, and ALL of these are a danger. I don’t understand the hoarding of TP – wouldn’t food and water be more important if you’re self-quarantined? Cashier at Vons grocery store yesterday was wondering the same thing…said people are kind of crazy. They are limiting wipes, Lysol spray, water and TP to customers but had some on the shelves still. It’s the only major supermarket in a town of 16K population. We have nieces visiting today who are on a college visit tour…and we are both 70 so we are doing air hugs and I’ll spray them down when they get here. 😊

We are over-reacting so the medical negatives will be minimized but the collateral costs will be far higher than necessary to achieve medical minimum safety levels.
I am in the high risk group (existing lung disease), am active in political activities, and completely indifferent to the bullshit panic. Am I being reckless? I don’t think so but YMMV.
My pulmonologist medical school faculty son-in-law would tell you to stay home for a while, build up your immune system, and do EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to avoid this SARS-2 – which attacks lungs and is very dangerous for people who already have lung disease.

My argument is more about the panic virus being more dangerous over the long run than the corona virus itself. Yes, I see that the elderly have it bad with this virus. Other viruses tend to harm elderly AND other groups such a children and babies.
The logic screaming in my head that if we take the drastic action we have for the Chinese Wuhan virus (that is right…I said it)…then why do we not do this every year with the flu season taking hundreds of thousands of lives globally EVERY YEAR???
H1N1 infected over 60 million and killed about a quarter of a million. This year the flu has taken nearly 20,000 in the US alone. Why did we not stop the world from spinning because of that? Do you know what the prominent flu strain is this year? H1N1. Where’s the fear?

Worked in retail for over 35 years, (the #1chain in grocery) this supply chain disruption has been brewing for years. Nothing that’s going on with supply is surprising anyone in the industry. On demand inventory (days of supply) has been the norm for some time. When hoarding starts the system can’t recover fast enough, the domino effect takes over, people buying stuff that normally never sells.
Fascinating. Yup. I bought “store brand” version of Scott TP – something that I *never* buy. Total stock to last us roughly 3 months with normal usage.
My wife and I are quarantining just to be sure. We have no idea if the stuff we got earlier (some kind of SARS-ish corona) will protect us from COVID-19 or make us more vulnerable. My lungs are not fully recovered, IMO.
I strongly suspect that most of the TP stockpiling is for elders and families of “at risk” people. It’s just smart. Actual quarantines out in the rest of the world are 1-3 months. This is a no-brainer. Be prepared to shut in for a while and kill the virus which has no place to go.

This particular post is very timely. I’ve been mentally (and in once case, verbally) battling the hysteria behind the pandemic. While I haven’t quite tilted to the first extreme (i.e. it’s a hoax), I have been guilty of stating that it’s hyped up. Not to excuse my position, but I am just so, so, SO tired of the pandemic being politicized….and the POTUS being criticized for his handling the pandemic (i.e., he’s not taking it seriously, he’s overreaching, and on and on). It’s one thing to be cautious and prepared; it’s an entirely different matter to use the pandemic to shape a very disturbing narrative.
That said, I especially like Scott Adams’ approach resonates the most of me. Unconsciously, I have been trying to make the best out of a uncertain situation.

There was a news item that disappeared quickly this week. Seattle area flu testing LAST YEAR for a scientific study had swabs from approx 4,000 patients. Tests were done early in flu season and then later. Participants only gave permission for flu testing.
BUT … the scientists running the study decided after CV became an issue to run CV tests on swabs–because, ethical thing to do– AND found positives … BUT someone SHUT that DOWN –because, UH OH…

In my opinion, what we are seeing is a virus that – if society reacts to it properly – becomes a threat mostly to old people, smokers, etc., and is entirely manageable. However, if you are unprepared for it, it can scare the hell out of a country and cause a huge panic.

The first time I saw that movie was my freshman year of college, in a cramped dorm room, VHS tape, on a 19″ color TV. I remember it like it was yesterday.
These were two-person dorm rooms, but cramped. Dressers/closets and chest-high shelf with a mirror set into the left wall like a room-length entertainment center as you walk in, bunk bed immediately to the right, and you could put your arms out and have one hand on the bunk bed and the other on a dresser drawer. Two desks at the foot of the bunk bed, and an ancient heater attached to the back wall where the one window was located.
The TV was on the shelf with the mirror between the two closets, and there must have been at least 10 or 12 people stuffed into that room, sitting on the bunk beds (top and bottom) across from the TV, and sitting on the floor, and standing at the end of the bunk beds.
In the dark.
At least half the people smoking Marlboros or Camels, and everybody drinking cheap beer (Busch or Milwaukee’s Best, a.k.a. Beast).
The movie kept going on and on (it’s a long movie, 2 hours and 34 minutes), and the longer it went, the better it got.
