20200323: CoronaCRISIS Daily Thread + Dear Congress, Please Get Your Act Together

For the time being, given our national emergency, we are switching to DAILY COVID-19/China Virus threads instead of weekly threads. Your comments and updates are most welcome. PLEASE continue to post your valuable information, hard source links, and local observations within these Daily Threads. Additionally, we will try to include links to government and official pressers, so those who no longer have cable can remain informed.

We’ll get through this crisis, together. As a group, there is probably no one better prepared than we are.

For our newcomers: The Q Tree community has been diligent in covering the threat of Coronavirus, COVID19, Wuhan FLU. We started accumulating information about this virus in mid-late January, in what became almost weekly threads. We’ve been weeks, if not months, ahead of MSM outlets to vet rumors and other medical papers, etc.

Primary Update Links:

In our past weekly threads, we assembled information on the following:

  • Primary update links. The dashboard from Johns Hopkins which counts “official” cases all over the world, the CDC, and WHO, and includes the links for our past threads.
  • Hard Data Medical Information- Explanation about testing, reliance on China for drugs, analysis of NE Journal of Medicine results and other published papers.
  • Vaccine and theraputics (new/old drugs to alleviate symptoms) news and updates
  • Trump Administration response (the timeline and links to various agencies)
  • China Responses, timelines, research, attempt to cover actions, or secrecy in results discovered.
  • An aggregate of info/responses from other countries, listed by country.
  • Economic impact from around the world. A change in economic activity will indicate a “return to normal”.
  • Speculation/debunking on how the virus started
  • Media Bias, political response, and debunking section, like the article from AP News, overt bias from Politico, inflammatory headlines, etc.
  • Other medical info to boost immune system, herbal remedies, ways to keep your house clean and NOT spread the virus to others. Excellent information to incorporate into daily lifestyle.
  • Hard links for OTHER valuable sources/blogs and a brief sentence or two about what they provide
  • Other news items

Our weekly updates. timelines, collection of valuable information, can be found here:

Please try to keep your sense of humor during this National Emergency, and remember, patience is a virtue.

Love to all!

BRILLIANT! DID I SAY BRILLIANT? YES, I SAID BRILLIANT!

🦋🤸‍♀️🦋bflyjesusgrl🦋🤸‍♀️🦋

Agreed, More people are calling it a hoax after Pelosi’s stunt last night. Others are pissed about the economy. People are ready to mutiny.

prognosticatasaurusrex

Let me translate, I speak fluent Trump. The cure is being administered, when it works, I will END this nightmare once and for all, and then while we are rebuilding our country stronger than ever before, there will be HELL to pay for those that played politics with this, spread hysteria, attacked our economy and our people, and OBSTRUCTED the relief and the cure.

MAGA Mom

absolutely what he is saying. HUGE progress is being made and Many success stories on so many fronts Cures/treatments rolling out, supplies to hardest hit so no US location has had medical system overwhelmed
.
And so fast…Trump speed, baby!

prognosticatasaurusrex

and yet, we NEVER get ANY positive news from the MSM, they want their weapon, and will NOT let it die easily.

It’s Barack Obama’s Fault There’s a Shortage of N95 Respirator Masks
https://pjmedia.com/trending/its-barack-obama-fault-theres-a-shortage-of-n95-respirator-masks-heres-why/

That’s right, the shortage of N95 masks can be traced back to the H1N1 (swine flu) pandemic of 2009… when Barack Obama was president.
A different story from the Los Angeles Times published last week goes into more detail about what happened after the swine flu pandemic depleted the supply. According to their story, “After the swine flu epidemic in 2009, a safety-equipment industry association and a federally sponsored task force both recommended that depleted supplies of N95 respirator masks […] be replenished by the stockpile.” The problem is that didn’t happen. According to Charles Johnson, president of the International Safety Equipment Association, about 100 million N95 respirator masks were used up during the swine flu pandemic of 2009-2010, but, he said was unaware of any “major effort to restore the stockpile to cover that drawdown.”
In short, even though the Obama administration was advised to replenish the national stockpile of the N95 respirator masks, they didn’t. Despite the fact the media traced the cause of the shortage back to 2009, they accuse Trump of poor planning and trying to deflect responsibility. It doesn’t take a genius to know that in 2009 Barack Obama was president, but not once in either story did Bloomberg or the Los Angeles Times link the failure to replenish the N95 respirator masks with Obama or his administration, after they apparently ignored recommendations to do so.

pgroup

That is the most shocking and unexpected thing I have ever heard! I never would have thought the Magic Negro would do (not do) something like that.
Are you sure?

grandmaintexas

But, but those N95 masks don’t work we’ve been told.

kalbokalbs

This is an interesting issue for me. Bottom line: it is the necessary “official position”.
Guessing I am an outlier of sorts on the entire, official position, N95 masks don’t work for regular folk.
As there IS a HUGE issue getting N95 to medical world, IMO, they have to be first in line to receive N95 masks. Makes sense.
– Medical folks are exposed daily, all day to ChiCom-19.
– Regular folks, you, others, and I, have the luxury of living in self imposed quarantine or quasi quarantine.
– That’s why folks are encouraged to donate N95 masks to local hospitals. Which I have done. Help flatten the curve.
Fundamentally we gotta keep medical world ChiCom-19 free…so shunt ALL N95 to medical folks.
Logical to me.
IF there were sufficient N95 masks, I 100% believe the official position would be wear N95 masks when out in public. There would be a huge push on proper wearing N95 masks.
And yeas I understand the importance of a proper mask seal, donning the mask correctly, taking it off correctly, read about droplet size, distance airborne…
^^^ That’s my opinion. Fully expect folks better informed and smarter than I, too pooh all over this post. Always willing to learn.

grandmaintexas

My neighbor, a nurse, said they had just thrown out thousands of N95 masks that were laying around after the last flu epidemic. I think she mentioned SARS.
Anyway, if the hospital had thousands of them for another communicable illness, then I do believe they work, and we all should be well versed in how they work.
One good thing about this mess is that we won’t be caught unprepared next time. President Trump will get us into shipshape.

grandmaintexas

It might have been H1N1….

kalbokalbs

100% the masks work. Perhaps N95 is not 100% effective for this scenario. All dependent on droplet size, as I understand it.

grandmaintexas

Yes. It will probably be some time before we get an accurate low down on the exact nature of this virus. So much misinformation.

Mary Morse

It gets worse. Recently posted OT, and on Q Tree daily:

This is Obama’s health insurance policy for the nation. Obamacare for All.

michaelh

Good catch Mary.
Of course I don’t claim to even be able to begin to plumb the depths of the corruption that existed within the Obama administration.
They wanted maximum control of the system in large part so they could rig it for winners and losers, and use it for a bigger power grab LATER.
FRANK DODD, anybody? Seems like we might be due to reap that stinkin’ whirlwind! If they can get the panic selling and liquidity issues to crash the market, why the heck not? They’d do it in a heartbeat.
Meanwhile the open availability of exotic virus samples on the market for sale to viral research labs has been discussed before – remember we had this conversation about Zika being available on the market, and then suddenly as if by surprise it shows up in non-native mosquitoes in North America from some old tires in Florida???
Not saying that the mosquitoes couldn’t have hitched a ride across the Atlantic to get here, but I’m not saying they couldn’t have been lab released (accidentally? mistakenly? intentionally?) with Zika either.
Obamacare meanwhile was designed to wreak the maximum available havoc on the U.S. medical sector. For years all hospital construction totally STALLED. Think about that when we talk about a shortage of beds during an epidemic! And that doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of the evil buried in that monstrosity.
We’re all fretting now about having to make UTILITARIAN assessments now about who gets treated and who does not. Thank the prior administration for creating a crisis that they wouldn’t let go to waste.

This notion of selling lab animals for consumption (bat soup) is off, IMO. It’s possible, but I can’t imagine that there is much cash in selling a bat for making soup.
More likely, consider that animals used by these labs are transgenic; genetically modified to provide the necessary genetic structure to allow controlled research. They are highly specialized organisms that have significant value; more for the black market, than for soup, especially if they are injected with a highly controlled virus.

The head of Canada’s NML died suddenly in Kenya, in early February.

Dr. Plummer published this paper in 2017 : The story of Canada’s Ebola vaccine
*https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5662448/
Which brings us to our next life sciences, gain of function researcher, Dr. Yoshiro Kawaoka:
…”In 1997, Yoshihiro Kawaoka created a new tool for the study of Ebola virus. He developed a replication-incompetent VSV5 vector that had a green fluorescent protein gene in place of the VSV glycoprotein; Ebola virus glycoprotein was supplied to the virus as it formed in cell culture from a separate expression system. Kawaoka’s group successfully used this pseudotyped replication-deficient virus as a research tool to study the structure and function of the Ebola virus glycoprotein (EBOV).”…

More on Dr. Kawaoka of UW Madison:
From the linked Independent article:
…”Professor Kawaoka said that he has presented preliminary findings of his H1N1 study to the WHO, which were “well received”.
“We are confident our study will contribute to the field, particularly given the number of mutant viruses we generated and the sophisticated analysis applied,” he said.”…
…”Professor Kawaoka’s most recent published research was on reconstructing the 1918 flu virus, the genetic structure which was known from samples retrieved from the frozen corpses of its victims buried in the Arctic, from wild strains of bird flu isolated from ducks. He managed to do this, but the study was widely criticised as “stupid” and “irresponsible”.
Why does he want to do this work?
The aim is to understand what is known as “gain of function”. What does it take, genetically, for a virus to become more infectious or more lethal? If we could understand this process then we would be in a better position to develop drugs, vaccines and other measures to protect ourselves from a sudden emergence of a new and deadly flu strain, or so Professor Kawaoka has argued.”…
In October 2014, the Obama admin halted funding of new gain of function studies:
…”Because the deliberative process launching today will aim to address key questions about the risks and benefits of gain-of-function studies, during the period of deliberation, the U.S. Government will institute a pause on funding for any new studies that include certain gain-of-function experiments involving influenza, SARS, and MERS viruses. Specifically, the funding pause will apply to gain-of-function research projects that may be reasonably anticipated to confer attributes to influenza, MERS, or SARS viruses such that the virus would have enhanced pathogenicity and/or transmissibility in mammals via the respiratory route.”…
On January 9, 2017, the Obama Administration lifted the ban:
…”Today, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) is releasing “Recommended Policy Guidance for Departmental Development of Review Mechanisms for Potential Pandemic Pathogen Care and Oversight (P3CO).” Adoption of these recommendations will satisfy the requirements for lifting the current moratorium on certain life sciences research that could enhance a pathogen’s virulence and/or transmissibility to produce a potential pandemic pathogen (an enhanced PPP).”…
Dr. Kawaoka has a startup that claims to have a universal vaccine for novel influenza viruses, in human trials:
Here is FluGen’s Board of Directors:
*flugen.com/board-of-directors/
One listed board member is Erik Iverson. From his FluGen bio:
…”Iverson was a Founder and a Board Member of Afrigen Biologics Limited, an IDRI spinout biotechnology company located in Cape Town, South Africa, that is the first ever vaccine and biologics focused biotechnology company on the continent of Africa.
Prior to IDRI, Iverson was hired as the first attorney dedicated to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s global health and agricultural programs. He played a lead role in building the Global Health Program for seven years as Associate General Counsel. At the Foundation, Iverson worked closely with staff and grantees in the development of intellectual property management and collaboration agreements, novel financing arrangements (including a leadership role in the establishment of the Foundation’s private equity “Program Related Investments”), product development and global product access.
Previously, Iverson was an attorney at the law firm of Perkins Coie LLP where he represented life science companies in the negotiation of financing transactions, joint ventures, research collaborations, licensing agreements and manufacturing agreements.”…

When this is going to be like a normal cold, but you can check your symptoms online or against a printed card, then come to a healthcare facility and take the test in a tent in the parking lot…..
Then get your results in less than an hour and be told (a) sorry, you have a cold, go home and suffer; (b) sorry, you have the flu, go home and suffer; or (c) you have this fabled media-hyped death-virus. A doctor will be by shortly to see if you have contraindications (these are rare — <5%). If not, you'll get your first dose of drugs before you leave. You'll be given a six-day supply of drugs and a card listing the reasons you might be back early, and told to confine yourself until the drugs are gone. Once the drugs are gone, do the drive-by test twice, a day or more apart, and you get a "done card" and can go about your business. If you have a positive response on the drive-by test, you will be advised.
This thing is going to be stuffed, pwnd, and become the subject of ridicule. And VSGPOTUSDJT is going to snag all the money for The Wall and deportation of illegals.

Now, if we can all just sit tight a little long, slow the spread, keep the case load as light as possible while it is all worked out …. we will have this thing over and done with! And no big vaccination program either.

It’s clear to me now that part of the reason the Made In China Fake News Featuring Bill Gates is so angry about the DRUG is that it doesn’t serve their VACCINE PSY-OP interests!!!

Not interested in the vaccine.

I would avoid a vaccine at all costs, especially since they are saying that the flu vaccine is proving to worsen other respiratory illnesses.

grandmaintexas

It is difficult to change minds. Even evidence via studies doesn’t help at times.
I will use my mom as an example.
“Mom, the flu vaccine is very limited in efficacy from year to year, depending on which strains are in it.”
“My doctor told me to get one and I have every year.”
“But Mom, you’ve gotten the flu every year, too.”
“Yes, but it’s not as bad.”
“But mom, you’ve gotten bronchitis and pneumonia twice now. Studies are showing that the vaccine may be involved.”
“I don’t care. And I’ve gotten the pneumonia vaccine, too.”
“But mom, you’ve gotten pneumonia anyway!”
“Just stop talking to me! I’m gonna follow my doctor’s advice. ”
“Sigh.”

Very funny. 😁
I’m doing my little bit by sharing eggs with those in need. We seem to be having quite the shortages in town. My hens are working overtime.
I haven’t gone out in a few days, but friends are still reporting shortages of things like eggs, milk, meat, bread.
I wonder if this is a rural issue, or everyone.

michaelh

Eggs have been in short supply due to high demand. Fortunately I bought 3 dozen before Peak Stupid, having to be careful with them. This is on the edge of a major metro. Would be nice if we half a dozen hens about now 😉

grandmaintexas

The girls are very handy right now. I’ve got 17 more in the chick stage. I didn’t replenish the flock last year and about half the girls aren’t laying much. They poop out after a couple years. Of course the older ladies enjoy retirement and help with the bugs. 😁

MAGA Mom

By son and husband eat 5-6 eggs each every morning for breakfast (almost always served with cooked veggies and on a bed fresh chopped greens + a side of ferments – they eat a big breakfast!). Dog gets 2 eggs every morning (raw). Yep, 12+ eggs Every morning. that will come to a screeching halt tomorrow morning. Today is the last day of fresh eggs for son/husband. Dog has been down to 1 egg every morning for almost 2 weeks and has eggs through Saturday.
Store is low because of demand & because they have said they are not receiving their usual deliveries of eggs (both 2 Krogers and Costco reported this + meat deliveries are not as much as usual or as frequent but I have posted this last 2 days so won’t get into that again).
tomorrow we start eating frozen or dehydrated eggs which are both more time consuming too cook. We will also slow our consumption of eggs. Thought about cutting eggs per morning in half and adding some meat every morning but that is like cooking two mini meals eery morning. Decided will have have breakfast every other morning and will keep doing that even when we do score some fresh eggs until the eggs supply is again steady.
the dog will get a fresh egg every morning…hopefully. He has always had then since he came to us 3 yrs ago and its a key part of how we tamed him from a wild dog. he would not understand.
Wish we had decided to get chickens. Kept putting it off…ugh!

Aubergine

Now is the time, if you want chicks! They should be in at your local feed store. I have some, it is awesome.

grandmaintexas

So far this crisis has caused my daughter and dil to make the plunge to homeschool, my neighbor has decided to pick up gardening again and has bought some fruit trees, and is getting chickens.
I do believe this has been a great motivator for us all to get more self sufficient.
Even us rural people have gotten too lazy and dependent on well stocked grocery shelves instead of well stocked pantries.

Get Dominics or Barred Rocks stay away from the Rhode Island Reds they are NASTY!
https://www.backyardchickens.com/reviews/dominique.10898/
For a fun chicken get a Silkie. They are bantams so small eggs and not a good layers. Beautiful friendly birds and even the roosters will try to hatch anything (including a golf ball.) People who raise exotics often will take the eggs and slip them under a Silkie.
https://www.thehappychickencoop.com/silkie-chicken/
“…The fact that the feathers do not hold together means a Silkie cannot fly. It also means that the feathering is not waterproofed and so a wet Silkie is a pathetic sight to see. If they do get significantly wet, they need to be towel dried or even blow dried – which they enjoy if it is done on a regular basis…”comment image

MAGA Mom

But they all had WuFlu at the time of death and would not have died when and how they did if it were not for WuFlu. And WuFlu sent them all to the hospital and overwhelmed the medical system.
It is incorrect to say that it was all “hysteria”. The number of hospital patients surged and overwhelmed their medical system *because* of WuFlu.
From the article:
“The way in which we code deaths in our country is very generous in the sense that all the people who die in hospitals with the coronavirus are deemed to be dying of the coronavirus….
On re-evaluation by the National Institute of Health, only 12 per cent of death certificates have shown a direct causality from coronavirus, while 88 per cent of patients who have died have at least one pre-morbidity – many had two or three,” he says”
So if a patient has high blood pressure and diabetes, they catch WuFlu, have complications and die … did they die because of the high blood pressure and diabetes or because they caught WuFlu and couldn’t fight it off? Most people with high blood pressure &/or diabetes live with it for years and control it through daily meds &/or diet/exercise. None of these people would be dead if not for WuFlu.
Not sure I agree with the reducing of WuFlu deaths to only those who died of WuFlu who have Zero pre-existing conditions.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

No other disease is being treated that way, to my knowledge.
People are complaining that we do NOT seem concerned over the number of flu deaths versus the ChiComVirus; but in doing so, they count flu deaths in exactly the way they do NOT want to count CCV deaths.
You can’t have it both ways, this borders on hypocrisy.

MAGA Mom

Steve in CO: You are logical, data oriented and good at analytics…help please!
Do you already know how flu deaths are counted? i just learned about this and really interesting, new to me.
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm
“Data gathered are used to estimate age-specific hospitalization rates on a weekly basis and describe characteristics of persons hospitalized with influenza illness. The rates provided are likely to be an underestimate as influenza-related hospitalizations can be missed if testing is not performed.”
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/overview.htm#Hospitalization
From same link:
“The NCHS surveillance data are used to calculate the percent of all deaths occurring in a given week that had pneumonia and/or influenza listed as a cause of death. The P&I percentage for earlier weeks are continually revised and may increase or decrease as new and updated death certificate data are received from the states by NCHS. The P&I percentage is compared to a seasonal baseline of P&I deaths that is calculated using a periodic regression model incorporating a robust regression procedure applied to data from the previous five years. An increase of 1.645 standard deviations above the seasonal baseline of P&I deaths is considered the “epidemic threshold,” i.e., the point at which the observed proportion of deaths attributed to pneumonia or influenza was significantly higher than would be expected at that time of the year in the absence of substantial influenza-related mortality.”
As I have read through the cdc info on flu data it seems to me it is informed estimates at best + includes flu deaths regardless of underlying health issues. the person may have had diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. but still died of the flu.
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/how-cdc-estimates.htm
The data includes a large number of presumed flu cases and presumed flu deaths – educated estimates and projections based on the factual data sets that they have. Is this right?
Problem I see is that we do not have the informed knowledge to project the % of non symptomatic cases and/or the number of cases that are symptomatic but who don’t go to the doctor or whose doctor doesn’t actually test for the flu.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

[I did not follow your links, I’m assuming your interpretation is correct.]
So now we have a situation where people are complaining we haven’t tested enough people for the ChiComCrud to really know anything, but don’t worry; it’s not nearly as bad as the flu but that’s based on ESTIMATES anyway because we don’t test much for that either.
To say nothing about the fact that it’s absurd to compare a disease that is already in full spread (the flu) to one that hasn’t finished spreading (the CCC). Of course they sidestep that by claiming the CCC has already been here for months, but the fatality numbers belie that for reasons I explained yesterday.
We have one “professional” on this site who is making less and less sense to me with every passing day (and he only made partial sense to me at the get-go).
FORTUNATELY, there’s a decent chance that this antimalarial will put the full pandemic mode into an alternate history. Which means we won’t be settling this argument any time soon, but that’s VASTLY better than having it settled in our favor!!

MAGA Mom

PLEASE! don’t assume I am correct! 😉

IMPORTANT NEWS for those exposed to coronavirus – for family members of patients, for doctors, nurses who are greatly needed in clinics and hospitals – Hydroxychloroquine treatment may work as PREVENTION – prophylaxis – to keep them from getting infected with the Chinese Coronavirus!
Since it is already being used to prevent malaria, it may well work!
And may be a key to getting our great country back to work!!!
Call for trial to study this – https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/32196083

If this stuff messes with the virus to the point where the virus cannot reproduce, then it stands to reason that asymptomatic people (who have the virus) will have it be wiped out instead of either a) continuing to be asymptomatic but contagoius) or b) having it get worse and becoming symptomatic.
As for people who don’t have the virus at all, it seems pretty intuitive to me that having the stuff already present in your system would prevent the virus from taking hold.
Of course, it’s undoubtedly a lot more complicated than that, but does the complicatedness add up to “no it just won’t work to prevent the disease?”
It’s absolutely worth checking out, especially since we know the drug is safe. (I don’t think we need the Z antibiotic for this; as I understand it, that’s to take care of opportunistic bacteria once the infection starts.)

GA/FL

Thanks Steve – you say it all so well.

If as I suspect, and there is some evidence that it is so, illegals are bringing this and other 1st and 3rd world diseases into the USA, an anti-malaria drug might be a good idea in an outbreak AND IN (insert expletives) SANCTUARY CITIES/STATES!!!!

Zithromax is not just an antibiotic, it is a macrolide antibiotic which also possesses antiviral activity. I chose this particular study, because Gates holds a patent on a coxcackie virus, as well.
ABSTRACT
Hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD) is a common viral disease in young children, mainly caused by enterovirus A71 (EV-A71) and coxsackievirus A16 (CV-A16). Specific antiviral agents are not commercially available yet. Here we report that the macrolide antibiotics spiramycin (SPM) and azithromycin (AZM) possess antiviral activities against EV-A71 and CV-A16. SPM significantly reduced EV-A71 RNA and protein levels, most likely through interfering with viral RNA replication. The SPM-resistant EV-A71 variants showed similar resistance to AZM, indicating a similar anti-EV-A71 mechanism by which these two drugs exert their functions.

I do hope it’s a lot less likely to trigger allergies than some antibiotics I know of.

Our Regional Medical Center has put in place stringent rules for visitors.
– No more than one visitor adult allowed inside the hospital at one time and strict visiting hours – no big groups and no kids running around and no hanging out in the lobby all day and all night.
– Each visitor will be carefully screened – taking temperature, etc. and questioned before being allowed to enter.

Dr. Boyle: Well, let me go back here to this second study to point out – it says at the end, “the current manuscript has been reviewed by the funding agency, the National Institutes of Health. Continuation of these studies have been requested and approved by the National Institutes of Health.” Notice the National Institutes of Health under Fauci is funding this Nazi biological warfare work and they have approved and requested further development of it, which obviously, this study was 2015 and the NIH wanted it to become even a more deadly pathogenetic virus. And you can also then see here the money from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease. This woman, I think you pronounce her name, [INAUDIBLE]) is out there now in public or she’s up to her eyeballs in this too, as is Fauci. And finally, I originally condemned this North Carolina lab because doing gain a function work on MERS as I said. Today in USA Today, Tony Fauci admits that the lethality rate of MERS is about 36%, whereas SARS is 10%. This Wuhan is 15% to 17%. So, notice Tony Fauci and the National Institute of Health

UK update.
Boris, a relevant cabinet member and/or a member of the Chief Medical Officer’s team (or he himself) give televised updates daily, normally at 5 p.m.
I’m not sure how many of my fellow Britons know about these. A friend of mine alerted me last week, only because he reads the BBC website every day.
They are compelling viewing, because each day’s news gets worse.
Tues., Mar. 17 (IIRC): Boris tells people to stay out of restaurants and cafes, pubs, theatres and cinemas. (Sporting events were already closed to the public or cancelled — Friday, Mar. 13, I think.)
Wed., Mar. 18: Financial relief to be given to businesses, along with the opportunity of government loans. Angela Hartnett, one of Britain’s Michelin-starred chefs, closes her restaurant. She lost 78% of bookings, so put her staff on standby (no pay) until further notice. She explained this on BBC’s Question Time on Thursday, Mar. 19. Schools are closed as of Friday afternoon. No exams this year. (Final grades to be calculated on school work thus far. Ireland decided to do that a week or so ago. Children of key workers, however, and those assigned to social workers will still be required to attend classes, but these might be in different schools.)
Thurs., Mar. 19: Self-employed people — e.g. barbers, aestheticians — nervous and despondent over having to apply for a government loan. They don’t want to do that. They are not entitled to a minimum income if they are married to someone who is employed by someone else and gets a monthly salary with all the relevant deductions. They are not sure how long they can stay open but they still want to work. They do not have enough of a financial cushion to close for two or three months. (Gathered from personal conversations my far better half and I have had separately.)
Friday, Mar. 20: Chancellor Rishi Sunak announces relief for renters and money for low-paid workers. Rightly says that it is ‘compassionate’. He is not wrong. (This will make Boris and the Conservatives look like the party of the people.) Boris asks people to shop ‘considerately’. (The shelves were nearly empty in both my local supermarkets. Not just TP — nearly everything. There also seemed to be people driving around looking for supermarkets. I overheard: ‘What’s the name of this shop again?’) Boris also gives a short statement about Mothering Sunday on the 22nd, which visibly pains him to have to do: avoid visiting elderly mums. Evasive on whether he will visit his own mum. ALL pubs and restaurants must shut immediately (i.e. ASAP that evening). Restaurants and cafes can provide takeaway service.
Saturday, Mar. 21: George Eustice, Environment Secretary, speaks instead of Boris. Urges people to stop panic buying. Has someone from the Retailers Association with him who says that, over the course of the past three weeks, Britons have £1bn worth of food in their homes! Advises people to stop stockpiling; there’s plenty for everyone. Supply chains working relatively well, minor hiccups. Stores on staggered hours; need to close to restock shelves.
Sunday, Mar. 22: Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick announces on a Sky News Sunday show that people should not visit their mothers on Mothering Sunday: a phone call or Skype is recommended. (On Monday, the Good Morning show features a segment where the hosts read out messages from viewers to their mums. SAD.) Boris takes to the podium at 5 p.m. saying he hopes everyone avoided their mothers today (not in so many words, but that’s the general gist). He also was unhappy that people used a sunny weekend to get out and about together, whether in parks or at the beach. Parks now closing. (It wasn’t that warm a weekend, but this is the usual time of year — mid-March — when people start circulating again after winter.) Says that stronger measures will be taken if people don’t observe self-isolation guidelines. (This means curfew.) Says that 1.5 million Britons will be told to self-isolate for 12 weeks; letters will begin arriving on Tuesday from the NHS. This applies to anyone who has had an organ transplant or certain types of cancer (leukaemia or bone marrow).
Monday, Mar. 23: Parliament reconvenes this afternoon. MPs will debate — and, I think, vote on — EMERGENCY MEASURES FOR CORONAVIRUS that might have FAR-REACHING EFFECTS on civil liberties. Only two MPs — a Conservative and a Labour one — oppose it. I hope they made a lot of phone calls at the weekend. We already have Tony Blair’s Civil Contingencies Act, which was bad enough. But, no, even the Conservatives want a new law. SAD.
———————————————-
Social distance is now 2 metres instead of one metre.
Local hospital has had the LOWEST bed occupancy in 80 YEARS. Amazing. Only 2 CORONAVIRUS patients. The REST OF THE BEDS ARE EMPTY (123 out of 125). (Excellent news, but one wonders how many other hospitals outside of London are showing similar figures.) I heard this from someone who knows a nurse there. I very much doubt that will make BBC news. Probably a good thing.
A Sunday Times article said that Boris’s genius adviser, Dominic Cummings, has changed his libertarian mind about coronavirus. For weeks, he advocated herd immunity. Then it seems that the Imperial College London people inveigled their way in and now Cummings supports a total shutdown. No. 10 said this article is false. I don’t know, but Boris’s advice has become more draconian by the day. He listens to what ‘Dom’ says.

No. 10’s response:

No mention at all of chloroquine or related drugs — either from government or on news sites.
I would like to end with a note on the messaging that accompanies these announcements. I know that everyone here is enthusiastic about PDJT’s ‘Together we will get through this; together we will win’, but, frankly, we get the same here in the UK. Ditto France. Nothing unique. No doubt, there are ‘messages’ that each government is given. By whom, I don’t know, but they are all consistent.
Okay, gotta go. Will check in later.
A good day to all, especially as it is a Monday!

Thank you for the kind words, though — much appreciated.
We went up to London twice in the past month before the latest restrictions. Took the train and the Tube. Had two excellent, leisurely lunches in a civilised atmosphere.
Outside the major cities and a few former industrial centres, things here are delightful — and remarkably normal.

Church, you would be completely right too. This state is so messed up but the people that surround me have been very kind. I have been surprised at who has taken interest in my well-being. I hope it is a more benign sort of bug and wish you a very speedy recovery. Am not surprised Doc doesn’t want to see you — just in case. Commiserations.
Amazing that you now know Covid-19 sufferers. That must make it terribly real, rather than a dry statistic. Are they better now? What sort of symptoms did they have?
Get well soon. All best wishes.

Message to Wolf, if you’re reading: one of the local TV personalities who is in isolation was on the news, and he said he and his wife are still waiting on the tests because of prioritization, BUT that the wife has a different virus that tends to appear when the SARS outbreaks happen.
I’m wondering if there aren’t 2-3 released at a time meant to work together. Seriously. I think you’re right. I’m now wondering, if that one I had in February that started with a post nasal drip and I more or less stopped/slowed down with zinc wasn’t one of these. It ended with some nasty GI issues that took 48 hours to deal with, but it was a bug none the less.
This is sounding more and more deliberate on someone’s part all the time.

Very interesting thought….and why not release companion bacteria with the viruses to finish off those who are already sick, elders and smokers with bacterial pneumonia?

OK. It appears that JILL BIDEN was sent over to Ole Joe to get him off the stage after he finished his speech. Otherwise he was going to just stand there at the podium.
My opinion: I guaran-damn-tee you that TOM PEREZ / the DNC / HILLARY CLINTON — are in discussion on how to EITHER convince Ole Joe to “gracefully” get out of the 2020 race now; OR, if Ole Joe is “recalcitrant” and refuses, on how to manipulate the DemCom convention to remove him and hand the nomination to HRC.
AND betcha that ANDREW CUOMO is being “readied” to be the VP pick — ** maybe ** the presidential pick if HRC decides she doesn’t want it herself (in which case, Cuomo would become a puppet).

MAGA Mom

Your story tells me:
1) supply chain is working
2) supplies going to usual places are not the normal amount as supply chain is being used to funnel much needed, specific supplies to specific places of urgent medical needs and to fill community needs for medical purposes and to slow the spread
3) supply chain is not operating “normally” even while operating at full speed because of changes of what they are supplying and to whom
4) supply chain is not SOP for local stores as they are indeed receiving less…but it is functioning overall
4) confirms my observations that local stores have higher demand, yes, but depleted stock is Also due to not receiving the usual amount of supplies/product which is as significant a factor as to why we have empty shelves.
What we are seeing at the local grocery is twofold: 1) Higher demand do to shift from buying meals at business to home cooking + people buying extra in case they are sick and can’t shop for several weeks AND 2) stores are receiving less than normal.
Shelves would have emptied anyway even without higher demand as they are not receiving their usual shipments/restocking supplies but it would have taken longer with normal buying patterns

Alison

Maga Mom – Why do you keep repeating – yesterday and today – that stores are receiving less than normal, when I have seen no reliable source (ie stores) saying that? Our local stores in my neck of the woods are not having trouble receiving normal supplies. You make an overly broad statement for the entire country without ever showing evidence. What is your purpose?

MAGA Mom

As I said in my posts, that is literally what has happened at our stores. 2 Krogers and 1 costco as reported by several staff in each store via conversations. NEVER said all states. Shared my experiences and tried to figure out what is happening in our area. Memphis is TN (Daughnworks247) and we are TN. Same state.
Locally, walmart, krogers VERY wiped out, including baking aisle as of this am. And they are not getting their usual trucks as per the store staff.
Reading a thread at OT – as would be expected, reports vary significantly around the country

kalbokalbs

Ground Report. Absolutely parallels Big T’s observation reported above.
Dayton, NV Smith’s supermarket. Geezer shopping, M-W-F 7 AM – 8 AM.
7:20 AM. Probably was 75th in line. Management letting folks in slowly. Spacing. Employee wiped every cart as they provided it to shoppers.
Well stocked. Breadth and depth. Exceptions, Limited paper goods. Bread delivery arrives an hour or two later in the morning. So bread sparse.
.
.
On the way out I asked the manager a question. Prefaced with, I am not whining or complaining. What’s main driver that hours (normal 24 hrs, 6AM-11PM, 8AM-10PM, now 8AM-8PM, except geezer shopping) have been cut back three times? We chatted a few minutes. This store is ALWAYS friendly. Not big on shopping, a guy thing I guess. But, great folks, they are.
Answer, While everything to some degree.
– PRIMARY reason is sanitation at night. So many touch points.
– Followed by have NEVER been so busy.
– Folks are NOT eating in restaurants, so more sales.
– Product NOT a big deal. Receiving MOAR deliveries than ever before.

BONUS. Five or six Trump stickers on cars. One with a Trump flag. 🙂 😉 🙂

But, but, THIS is the worst pandemic EVER..a REAL killer. My ass, the virus is real, but the hysteria is 100% FAKE. NO WAY the dems play ANY political games IF this was all real, they would LITERALLY have a pound of flesh exacted if they did.
It is time my friends to call this what it IS, a bad and new stain of the flu. The numbers have NOW aligned and are actually LOWER than the regular flu, despite the hype. The numbers are probably even LOWER when you factor in my hypothesis, which IS bearing out (the virus is NOT matching the exponential projections, not even CLOSE like 1/1000000 less, that is even LESS a percentage than Elizabeth Warren is Indian.) We were ALL already flooded with this in Nov-Feb, we ALREADY had it bad before the CDC even admitted it was a problem, it was ALREADY wide spread.
But, since 80% have LITTLE to NO symptoms, we ALL chocked it up to the regular flu, a bug, a cold, or allergies. We were NOT overwhelmed at the hospitals THEN, even combined with the REGULAR flu, this my friends was a nationwide over reaction OR a test by the Cabal to see what we would except or allow.
It was a COORDINATED attack on our people and ESPECIALLY our economy. Trump, having done his bit is FINALLY listening to his GUT and NOT the “experts” I bet he ENDS the NE on Sunday.
Warm weather and the cure are coming or HERE, they cannot keep this farce going, denying the AID was a tell. They WANTED their weapon, and their weapon is on the way OUT, as they all SHOULD be.

GA/FL

I’m not 100% sure warm weather will kill it as it does the flu – several hot spots are in hot climates – Miami/Palm Beach/Tampa and Los Angeles for example.
Seems to be connected to air and cruise ship travel and to sanctuary cities/states and illegals.

prognosticatasaurusrex

Yep, but sunlight DOES kill it, and with warm weather, and WET weather, it will DIE. There are VERY few cases in warm wet countries that were NOT brought in. Ther is VERY LITTLE spread, as with nearly all viruses. Plus its shelf life will decrease on surfaces as well as being harder for it to spread on cold dry air. Warm HUMID air is MUCH heaver, and viruses do not travel great distances in it.

French doctors no longer want to wait for authorization and extend hydroxychloroquine treatment to covid-19 positive patients
Local Report: France
Marseille, March 22, 2020
Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak
In the current context of the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus epidemic on French territory and worldwide. In accordance with the Hippocratic Oath that we have taken, we obey our duty as a doctor. We provide our patients with the best care for the diagnosis and treatment of a disease. We respect the rules of the art and the most recently acquired data of medical science.
We have decided : • For all febrile patients who come to consult us, to carry out tests for the diagnosis of infection with Covid 19; • For all infected patients, many of whom are not very symptomatic, have lung lesions on the CT scan, to propose the disease as soon as possible, as soon as the diagnosis is made: – a treatment with the combination of hydroxychloroquine (200 mg x 3 per day for 10 days) + Azithromycin (500 mg on the 1st day then 250 mg per day for 5 more days), as part of the precautions for use of this association (including an electrocardiogram on D0 and D2), and outside of marketing authorization. In cases of severe pneumonia, a broad-spectrum antibiotic is also used.

China’s brutal totalitarian regime is about to begin demanding all the countries deep in debt to it start reopening their borders to travel from China.
They say they’ve fixed the problem, you see. No new indigenous cases of CCP Virus, only cases brought in by evil furriners.

Graham: There’s a debate going on about whether or not we should lessen containment policies because of the economic impact..Is the cure worse than the disease? My advice would be to follow medical advice to contain the virus

It appears that Sen. Graham is showing his Swamp / DeepState stripes again.
Not surprising to me.

BORDER UPDATE!
Border enforcement has not relaxed one bit with the Communist Chinese Virus – CCV – invasion!
In fact, it has only gotten more intense and stringent – and enforcement personnel even more dedicated!

Drugs and illegals are being stopped more than ever.

Several kinds of fake virus test kits have been seized.

NO ONE is allowed to cross the border – Only legitimate and inspected normal commercial trade is allowed across.

HATS OFF – LOUD CHEERS – MANY PRAYERS FOR OUR BORDER PROTECTION OFFICERS!!!

OHMYGOSH! I MEANT TO POST THIS ON FLEP’S NEWS THREAD LIKE I USUALLY DO!
RATS!

Concerned Virginian

Coming to a neighborhood near you:
700WLW, 2PM Eastern, news report:
HAMILTON COUNTY (OHIO, includes Cincinnati) sheriff’s office issued a statement that their department will have uniformed officers in their patrol cars OUT ON THE ROADS to MAKE SURE the order from Gov. DEWINE and state medical health director DR. AMY ACTON, that all “non-essential” businesses close and “shelter in place’ statewide that starts at Midnight tonight, are being complied with.
The sheriff’s office statement also said that the officers in the patrol cars “will assume” that people out driving are “going to or from essential tasks”; and that the officers will be looking at businesses to make sure they are closed up.

GA/FL

PRESIDENT TRUMP is excited!

Concerned Virginian

700WLW, news conference, GOV. DEWINE:
Orders immediate hiring freeze in OHIO state government except for people involved in fighting the virus.
Freeze on new contract services effective today.
State cabinet conference call today at 4PM — make cuts in state programs up to 20%. Exceptions will be make for some departments only.
Slow down state spending on “non-essential” projects.
“We’re all in this together. It’s not Republican versus Democrat.”
All child care facilities must apply by tomorrow for an “emergency operating license” to stay open. New rules for child care facilities begin this Thursday. All child care facilities must limit children under their care to 6 per room. No exceptions.
DR. AMY ACTON:
Ohio now has 351 cases of the coronavirus.
Front-line healthcare personnel are doing a heroic job.
Practitioners: take advantage of the telemedicine system now set up. Get medical histories for ALL people in a household. Get people in isolation / quarantine at home if at all possible.
PPE shortages: Federal government shipments too slow and not enough of supplies, so manufactures in Ohio are stepping up to make and ship these items. Ditto for testing kits. (Backhand slap at POTUS and VP Pence’s team)
Next areas for containment of spread: nursing homes / retirement communities.

Concerned Virginian

Question about when the shelter in place order will be lifted:
Gov. DEWINE: I’ll refer to Dr. Acton.
DR. ACTON: science will continue tp evolve on the virus. We have get through the coming hospital surge. We don’t to waste a day but must be ahead of the curve. My team is talking to medical professionals all over the world to learn what they are doing. (Basically, she did NOT answer the question)
Question related to enforcement of the shelter at home orders:
*** Gov. DEWINE: Police will talk to the people involved if there’s a report of non-compliance. Citations will be issued. Individual officers will make the decisions. Bars for example would lose their liquor license.
*** IMPLIED THREAT OF FORCIBLE COMPLIANCE
Question related to HISPANIC community: Are there consequences if they are required to go to work, especially in construction. (IMPLICATION that Hispanics can be discriminated against)
Gov. DEWINE: All people living in Ohio must follow the orders.

Let’s see. This WuFlu, this over-hyped WuFlu is just a different strain of ordinary flu strains that run almost silently through our villages and towns every year, with numbers actually lower than the our regular, ho-hum ordinary flu. Really?
Then why are companies repurposing their plants to make masks, PPEs and ventilators that we didn’t need for the regular flu? Planned hype?
And why are countries hospital facilities being overrun by patients needing supplemental oxygen and emergency ventilation? More planned hype?
And then there’s those pesky diagnoses of sudden death, and permanent damage to lungs, kidneys and heart. All mistakes . . . just a little hype?
And why are countries’ borders closed, areas isolated, social activities curtailed, schools and businesses closed? Ahh, even more planned hype.
And why, unlike the regular flu, are hospital staffs being literally run into the ground by long hours tending the sick and dying? Uh-huh. More hype.
I think I could continue with the examples . . . and all because the ChiCom’s are working with Soros and the Dimms just to, yup, hype the WuFlu.
If WuFlu numbers get stifled, it’ll be because of isolation, medical procedures, dedicated medical staffs, emergency manufacturing of masks, PPEs and ventilators . . . and the miraculous discovery of existing, proven medicines that can wipe out the bug in a short period of time . . . all working together to mitigate and eradicate.
Just hype of another flu strain? No way!

Thank you.

Local news reports that local media is being destroyed by the shutdown. Nobody is buying advertising because everything is shut down. SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Your first question was on point. Why haven’t our hospitals ALREADY been overwhelmed?
Because whatever it is that was going around…isn’t THIS.

🦋🤸‍♀️🦋bflyjesusgrl🦋🤸‍♀️🦋

Well, Neither one of us can prove it was or wasn’t.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

I can’t prove it…but I can make an argument.
Hospitals are filling with ChiComCrud cases now.
They weren’t full two months ago, in spite of the fact that CCC was supposedly everywhere back then. THAT is a CONTRADICTION.

Sadie Slays

Remember the early videos out of China that showed people dropping in the streets like flies? Why aren’t we seeing that in Italy? Funny how that got memory-holed.

Volgarian8301

Why aren’t we seeing it HERE?? In the most photographed era where literally everyone has a camera…why aren’t we hearing from real patients, families? We have bots on social media….some almost believable, and whatever MSM wants to feed us. Where are the REAL stories?

Sadie Slays

I’ve wondered the same thing. The media keeps saying that the hospitals are being overrun, but no videos or pictures. If they had dramatic footage, they would have released it by now to shock people into conforming to their social distancing demands. Blur the faces for privacy.

Volgarian8301

Exactly!! That makes me suspicious….and the fact that they twisted POTUS’ words when he called them out early on for the hoax, not that the virus itself was a hoax

Sadie Slays

We could fill a whole book with stuff that is suspicious about this crisis.

Volgarian8301

Many people are obviously focused on the near future – people becoming new gardeners and existing gardeners increasing their gardens. Message from one seed supplier that I happen to use:
Dear Gardening Friend,
In response to the Coronavirus emergency nationwide, we are experiencing an unprecedented giant surge in the number of orders we receive daily. As a result, we expect we will be out of stock on some of our popular varieties this season. Nationwide, all home garden seed companies are experiencing the same issues.
Most of our staff is working from home and we have established cautionary workspace safety measures at our warehouse. This combination of the sheer volume of orders and emergency procedures means it’s taking additional time to fill and pack orders, and nationwide, shipping carriers are taking longer to deliver orders to customers.
We will continue to do the best we can and appreciate your patience and understanding under these difficult and trying conditions.
Sincerely,

I’ve known a lot of doctors over the last 45 years – and some surgeons are as you described. However, of those I’ve known, more than half are/were great men, kind, gentle, caring. There were one or two in the community that really fit that mold and they were teased about it by the others on the hospital staff.
Same with the other specialties. The generations of doctors in my family work/worked very hard and they studied very hard and long too… from college through internship and residency is 10-12 years… and with some specialties longer.
All in all, the years from the 60s-80s were the golden years for riches, luxury, big fast cars, huge homes. That’s not happening nowadays. All those dinners and meetings at resorts sponsored by drug companies – are also a thing of the past.
However, the liability insurance and danger of lawsuits was huge back then. Things have changed a lot since then. The government regulations are stricter too and the technology has transformed the practice of medicine.
Now, it’s very hard for a doctor to be in solo practice. Not like when we were kids or young adults. I well remember the hole in the wall general practitioner who gave a cup of candy and a Niacin/B12 shot to folks with bad colds – called it his hot shot. Those old doctors are a thing of the past. Great memories of those old guys though.

OMG…you hit it exactly, Daughn! I’m laughing, laughing! I had to deal with these by the hundreds for 20 years. And, yes the surgeons were the very worse…Demi-gods who thought they could get away with anything…especially sexual harassment back when I was new to the game. I was the first female executive in my hospital and they didn’t like that one bit!
Until sometime in the 90’s, a doctor could be “run out of town” for malpractice and go to another state to work and there was no way to report him…no centralized records. It took a lot of effort to get that passed.
Always exceptions, of course, as in any group and one of my closest counterparts, President of the medical staff and a great general surgeon (who happened to remove my gallbladder), was a gem and a pleasure to work with.
. But, in addition to the late bill paying, etc. they rarely supported any fund-raising efforts done by the board or auxiliaries to buy the latest equipment for them which they used free without contributing one penny. And, were absolute cowards about getting their own medical needs done (worse dental hygiene I ever saw!),
And here I married One of Them! LOL (not on hospital staff, though)
PS…and yes, they do expect everyone to go around cleaning up after them…even if they are retired 😉

It would be helpful — as is always the case — if the people issuing guidelines explained WHY to the most obvious questions.
Not only because it would actually help with compliance, but… because it would actually HELP with compliance.
Because many people won’t follow guidelines that either don’t make any sense, or worse, appear to be issued by people who are hiding something.
Avoid social gatherings of 10+ people
Why avoid 10+ people? If any one of the other 8 people allowed to be around you have China virus, what harm is the 10th one going to do?
How many infected people does it take in order to transmit the China virus? If the answer is ONE, then why is it okay for ten times that many people to assemble together, but NOT okay for eleven times that many?
Is ‘ten’ just an arbitrarily chosen number?
.
Practice good hygiene
What good is it to tell people to practice “good hygiene”, when lots of people have no clear understanding of what ‘good hygiene’ even means? If you want people wash their hands for at least 20 seconds before rinsing in hot water, then say that. If you want people to wash their hands after using the bathroom, then you better SAY that — and explain why.
Because just one person who doesn’t know any better could infect thousands (indirectly), so write the guidelines with those people in mind.
.
use drive-thru, pick-up or food delivery options
Apparently you can have China virus for up to 4 days without showing symptoms. If two trains are heading towards each other, and one train is going 75mph and the other train is going 50mph, how many thousands of people could one McDonald’s employee infect in 4 days?
If ordering delivery, where someone with China virus actually brings the virus to your home, should they at least ask “You want China virus fries with that?” when you place your order?
.
Do not visit nursing homes…
Tell people WHY, or many of them won’t listen. Explain that people in nursing homes are much more likely to die from exposure to China virus, so if you don’t want Mom, Dad, Grandma or Grandpa to get sick, STAY AWAY from the nursing home!

Please stay the fuck home. This is what can happen to you if you get this.
All you have to do is sit on your ass and watch some Netflix to help save people’s lives. If you can’t do that you are an asshole.
Let me me explain what can happen to you.
First you won’t know you’re sick. So you’ll pass it on to everyone you love and know.
Then you’ll get ill and spend a week at home struggling to get better with what you think is allergies or the flu. If you don’t self isolate here you will infect more people.
After you realize it’s hard to breathe you will go to the hospital and have to be alone. No visitation allowed in the hospitals during a pandemic.
Your age doesn’t matter. A 13 year old girl died today
50% of all people hospitalized in the US are under 50.
You’ll wait for what will seem like forever to even get treatment or a bed. You may even be sitting on the hospital floor while your struggling to cling on to your life. source
Your lungs will start filling up with fluid and you will start to feel like you are drowning. You will fight the doctors and nurses as they try to intubate you.
If you’re lucky you’ll have a ventilator but if you have a prexisting condition or are over 65 you may only get comfort care until you die. If you get any care at all while doctors and nurses are stretched so thin.
If you’re healthy you may be taking a ventilator from someone’s mom, dad or grandma because you have a better chance of surviving.
While you lay dying if by the grace of god you’re medicated you’ll have no idea your going to die. No family member to hold your hand. No last goodbye.
And just about the time you start to die your family and friends who you were exposed to get sick possibly and end up where you are, dead.
All because your dumb ass didn’t stay home and watch Netflix.
IF you survive you could have permanent lung damage and a 70-100% chance of immediate cognitive decline that can persist longer than 5 years which means you won’t be fully you anymore. 1/5 people will still have cognitive defects 5 years post recovery. You may not be able to work or function as you normally do. That’s IF you make it.
This is what happens to the people who survive after getting ARDS which is what’s killing people so rapidly with this. read about ARDS here There are tons of articles to back up what I’ve said here. here is one explaining what it’s like from the perspective of the hospital worker
This isn’t the flu. This isn’t something to be taken lightly. Share this with whoever you want. And for fuck sakes #staythefuckhome

China ‘didn’t report 43,000 silent carriers’
#Asia#China#Coronavirus
A Hong Kong newspaper says China’s government excluded from its statistics about one-third of people who tested positive for the new coronavirus but showed no symptoms.
The South China Morning Post reported on Monday that classified government data it obtained show that more than 43,000 so-called silent carriers were not counted in the number of confirmed cases by the end of February.
China reported around 79,000 confirmed cases as of the end of last month.
The paper said that when silent carriers are taken into account, the number of infected people on the mainland exceeds 120,000.
Chinese health authorities said on February 14 that people who were infected but showed no symptoms would be quarantined and monitored for two weeks, but not counted as coronavirus patients.
The authorities also said they would not disclose the number of silent carriers in the country.

As you know there are other people here claiming to be in the biz who disagree with you and maintain this has been here a lot longer.
At some point we’ll see who was right, but personally I think we’ve been testing seriously ill for long enough to know what’s happening, and it’s GRIM.

Gail Combs

Steve remember, there are DAILY direct flights form Wuhan to NYC by Chinese airlines. That means during November, December and January you had 140 possible carriers a DAY dumped in NYC.
Look at what that ONE Super spreader at the Biogen conference Feb. 26-27 with 175 people did.
“..that meeting is now linked to a vast majority of the state’s 164 COVID-19 cases, state health officials said….” link
That does not include the five cases of attendees here in NC.
In NC the cluster are around Research Triangle Park and Charlotte the #1 growing Tech center.
How many of those Techies are CHINESE? Both Raleigh & Charlotte have double or triple the Chinese population compared to the rest of the state.
So how many super spreaders were in big conferences in NYC? How many frequented restaurants, bars, theaters…
How many live in apartments with shared bathroom fan vents or shared HVAC systems? How many offices have crappy HVAC systems that recirculate germs?
NYT — February 07, 2020

”Inundated With Flu Patients, U.S. Hospitals Brace for Coronavirus
Resources are already stretched during flu season. With so much medical equipment and drugs made in China, public health experts are anxiously watching the global supply chain.
With an intense flu season in full swing, hundreds of thousands of coughing and feverish patients have already overwhelmed emergency rooms around the United States. Now, hospitals are bracing for the potential spread of coronavirus that could bring another surge of patients…”

February 17, 2019

The current flu season has been milder than last year’s, with the vaccine protecting about half the people who were inoculated and a less severe strain of the virus causing most of the illnesses that do occur.
However, there have been more deaths than usual from that milder strain, and there is evidence a more severe strain of the influenza virus is causing a growing percentage of illnesses….
There have been 11,600 to 19,100 deaths so far.
“The number of deaths we’re seeing is a little bit surprising,” CDC epidemiologist Brendan Flannery told the Wall Street Journal. “It’s a reminder that flu can be severe.”

So Yes the Chinese Crud was here and killing people back in February. Remember they DO NOT TEST EVERYONE who comes in with the ‘flu’

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Then how to explain zero deaths for a week when they DID start testing? Did it say “ooh, they’re looking for me I’d better run and hide? Then start killing people again to show an exponential curve?”
I’m sorry but that’s absurd.

Gail Combs

Steve WHO did they test AND Who did the testing?
The CDC! ACCORDING TO THEIR GUIDELINES!
Best description I have seen of the testing fiasco and the CDC Bureaucrats:

A Seattle infectious-disease expert named Dr. Helen Y. Chu tried to test people as soon as the first case was reported in her area, but the CDC prevented it.
Dr. Chu finally went ahead and tested anyway.
Washington state ordered her to stop.
Rigidity of thought, bureaucratic red tape, and the pigheadedness of government employees prevented Dr. Chu from getting out in front of the epidemic.

This is from a MONTH AGO:
Friday, February 21, 2020 CDC BRIEFING BY NANCY MESSONNIER

REPORTER: I have a couple questions. First of all, can you tell us how many states have testing capacity? We’re hearing that only three states at the moment are capable of testing for the coronavirus because of issues with the test kits.
And secondly, and you touched on this, at what point does it make sense to still screen passengers at airports, given how many countries now are seeing widespread — or seeing additional cases and starting — you know, at what point do you shift to community-based measures to control this virus?
Thirdly, do — where do we stand in our understanding of whether this virus is spread in asymptomatic patients? Thank you.
MESSONNIER: In terms of the test kits, you know what, i think we’ve been as transparent as one could be about this issue. I’m happy to report that we’re fully stood up at CDC. There is no lag time for testing at this point. [that means they were doing very little testing -GC]
That is the focus of testing in the united states, the testing here at CDC. We’ve had no issues at all in terms of the quality of that. As we’ve pushed tests out to the state, they did what we would expect as part of the normal procedures, which is do the verification in their own laboratories. There were problems identified with the test kits. That is a normal part, unfortunately, of these processes. We obviously would not want to use anything but the most perfect possible kits, since we’re making determinations about whether people have COVID-19 or not. So that is still where we are. We are working with FDA, who is the one that have oversight over us. Under this e.u.a. on redoing some of the kits. We still consider it a priority to get the kits out to patients as soon as possible. It is overridden by the priority to make sure that the test is correct.
The second question is about screening. I guess what I would say in general is that if you look at global data, the focus still of most of the cases is in china and, specifically, in wuhan. That is why the layered approach that the U.S. government has put in place has focused on those places at higher risk. [They were ONLY TESTING China contact or associated at that point. –GC] We continue to reevaluate this. Screening at the airport is two different things. There is routine screening for any passenger coming back with — CDC works with them on it, and it is screening ill people returning from overseas. That’s routine. That’s ongoing. That is not driven by these countries separately. We do have focused efforts focused on people returning from china. We continue to look at those efforts to make sure the focus is appropriate, given where the burden of disease is, and given where transmission is. We still think that, as of today, that is the right focus.
It is also important for you to realize, that’s not all we’re doing. In addition to what’s going on at the airports, we have clinicians all over the country on the lookout for patients. We have patients who are traveling, getting information from us as to potential risk, so that they can be part of this — of the important work of identifying cases in the U.S. we also haven’t — this is not a turn on, turn off way of approach. That is, we’re often doing community surveillance. The reason we’ve moved quickly to stand up community surveillance is with the understanding that we want to make sure that we also have other ways, outside of just travel-associated screening, to look for cases in the U.S. that is starting at a few sites, but we’re rapidly working to make that all over the united states. It will be community-level surveillance for patients ill with respiratory diseases, so that we can also look at a community level, both to make sure our screening is still focused appropriately, and also with the understanding that there is still the possibility in the future that this is going to spread.
The final question is asymptomatic disease. There is certainly more data coming out that suggests that there are people who are reportedly asymptomatic who have this virus with the swab. We need to fully understand what that means in the individual patients. Are those patients, for example, that are being caught early, that may eventually go on to get disease? How hard are folks looking to ask them for symptoms? In other similar illnesses, we have found that if you dig deeper, you actually find many of these patients can recall some sort of mild symptom. I don’t think there is anything especially new about our posture on this. We are still gathering information. When it is enough information to impact how we operationalize, we obviously will make sure all our partners, as well as the public, knows it. Next question.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

You have missed my point, perfectly.
I have said nothing–NOTHING–about asymptomatic cases. It simply doesn’t matter how many asymptomatic people have or have not been tested because it has nothing to do with the argument I am making. I’m talking about people known to have DIED from Coronavirus.
That has shown an exponential curve SINCE WE STARTED TESTING.
If Coronavirus were already around en masse before testing, it would have been causing significant numbers of deaths BEFORE we started testing, too. If that were the case, what should we have seen when we did start testing hospital patients who were dying? We should have seen that trend continuing into the period where we DID test. And yet we do not. We see NO deaths for about a week going into March…MARCH!! Then people started dying of it.
There’s no way to explain that based on the supposition that coronavirus was widespread yet unknown long enough ago to have been killing people all along. Therefore that supposition is nonsense.

Gudthots

Testing roll-out was very clunky Steve. We can’t compare early testing numbers to later numbers due to the increase in number of cities/states over time of deployment. How does that figure into your (totally reasonable) skepticism. Seems that bad/incomplete data is removing the certainty of any math applied.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Well, I’m only going back to March 1.
People seem to miss that and think I’m talking about January.

Gudthots

Gail’s chart below could be useful. 🙂

Gudthots

Do you recall when they changed the guidelines for who to test? For quite a while the criteria was travel and known exposure specific. Until that was changed, the only reported deaths would be a subset of all deaths, correct?

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Yes, and the criteria got changed Feb 27.

A dive into Nancy Messonnier:
BACKGROUND
Because the Senior Executive Service has special privileges above and beyond that of regular federal employees, some think it is the core of the ‘Deep State.’ Obama appointed over 7,000 of the 8,156 federal employees in the Senior Executive Service. Most of these appointees do not arise from inside the respective agencies through a merit system and there are many more SES appointees than any other type of political appointment. WORSE unlike other political appointees once hired they can not be fired. This means the MANAGERS of the Trump Administration are actually Obama appointees. For example McCabe, the former deputy director of the FBI is SES.comment image

STRENGTHENING THE SENIOR EXECUTIVE SERVICE
*https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/the-press-office/2015/12/15/executive-order-strengthening-senior-executive-service

The Senior Executive Service (SES) lead America’s workforce. As the keystone of the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978, the SES was established to “…ensure that the executive management of the Government of the United States is responsive to the needs, policies, and goals of the Nation and otherwise is of the highest quality.” These leaders possess well-honed executive skills and share a broad perspective on government and a public service commitment that is grounded in the Constitution.
Members of the SES serve in the key positions just below the top Presidential appointees. SES members are the major link between these appointees and the rest of the Federal workforce. They operate and oversee nearly every government activity in approximately 75 Federal agencies.

This is an article on the SES:

NANCY MESSONNIER
She is head of the National Center for IMMUNIZATION and Respiratory Diseases
She is likely a Senior Exec or equivalent (SES is NOT disclosed to the public)
The CDC is one of the major operating components of the Department of Health and Human Services. The head of the Department of Health and Human Services is appointed and confirmed by the Senate.
The CDC Director, is appointed by the president and does not require Senate approval.
As of 2015, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had 10,796 employees. 29 are Senior Executive Service.

Transmission of 2019-nCoV Infection from an Asymptomatic Contact in Germany

….A 33-year-old otherwise healthy German businessman (Patient 1) became ill with a
sore throat, chills, and myalgias on January 24, 2020. The following day, a fever of 39.1°C (102.4°F) developed, along with a productive cough. By the evening of the next day, he started feeling better and went back to work on January 27.
….Before the onset of symptoms, he had attended meetings with a Chinese business partner at his company near Munich on January 20 and 21. The business partner, a Shanghai resident, had visited Germany between Jan. 19 and 22. During her stay, she had been well with no signs or symptoms of infection but had become ill on her flight back to China, where she tested positive for 2019-nCoV on January 26 …
Contact tracing was started, and the above-mentioned colleague was sent to the Division of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine in Munich for further assessment. At presentation, he was afebrile and well. He reported no previous or chronic illnesses and had no history of foreign travel within 14 days before the onset of symptoms. Two nasopharyngeal swabs and one sputum sample were obtained and were found to be positive for 2019-nCoV on quantitative reverse-transcriptase–polymerase-chain-reaction (qRT-PCR) assay.2 Follow-up qRT-PCR assay revealed a high viral load of 108 copies per milliliter in his sputum during the following days, with the last available result on January 29.
On January 28, three additional employees at the company tested positive for 2019-nCoV (Patients 2 through 4 in Figure 1). Of these patients, only Patient 2 had contact with the index patient; the other two patients had contact only with Patient 1. In accordance with the health authorities, all the patients with confirmed 2019-nCoV infection were admitted to a Munich infectious diseases unit for clinical monitoring and isolation. So far, none of the four confirmed patients show signs of severe clinical illness.
However, it is notable that the infection appears to have been transmitted during the incubation period of the index patient, in whom the illness was brief and nonspecific.3
The fact that asymptomatic persons are potential sources of 2019-nCoV infection may warrant a reassessment of transmission dynamics of the current outbreak. In this context, the detection of 2019-nCoV and a high sputum viral load in a convalescent patient (Patient 1) arouse concern about prolonged shedding of 2019-nCoV after recovery. Yet, the viability of 2019-nCoV detected on qRT-PCR in this patient remains to be proved by means of viral culture…

Wuhan Virus Asymptomatic cases
Asymptomatic cases in a family cluster with SARS-CoV-2 infection
*https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099(20)30114-6/fulltext

Since December, 2019, an outbreak of pneumonia caused by a novel coronavirus, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has led to a serious epidemic in China and other countries, resulting in worldwide concern.1
Family clusters of infected individuals have been reported, and this phenomenon could present a serious threat to public health if not strictly controlled. In a previously reported family cluster, most infected individuals had clinical symptoms, decreased lymphocyte counts, and abnormal chest CT images, and were positive for the virus on quantitative RT-PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis.2, 3
However, some of the family members had abnormal chest CT images and positive qRT-PCR results without any clinical symptoms.3
Here, we report the clinical characteristics of a family cluster of SARS-CoV-2 infection. In this family of three, one 35-year-old man (patient 1) had clinical symptoms, a decreased lymphocyte count, abnormal chest CT images, and a positive result on qRT-PCR. By contrast, the other two family members—a 33-year-old woman (patient 2) and a 3-year-old boy (patient 3)—were both asymptomatic, with normal lymphocyte counts and chest CT images but positive qRT-PCR results (figure)….”

Results
Patient 1 (presumed asymptomatic carrier), a 20-year-old woman, lives in Wuhan and traveled to Anyang on January 10, 2020. She initially met with patients 2 and 3 on January 10. On January 13, she accompanied 5 relatives (patients 2 through 6) to visit another hospitalized relative in Anyang District Hospital (Figure). There was no report of COVID-19 at this hospital. After development of disease in her relatives, patient 1 was isolated and observed. As of February 11, she had no elevated temperature measured or self-reported fever and no gastrointestinal or respiratory symptoms, including cough and sore throat, reported or observed by the physicians. Chest CT images on January 27 and 31 showed no significant abnormalities. Her C-reactive protein level and lymphocyte count were normal (Table). Results of RT-PCR testing were negative on January 26, positive on January 28, and negative on February 5 and 8.
Patients 2 through 6 developed COVID-19. Four were women, and ages ranged from 42 to 57 years. None of the patients had visited Wuhan or been in contact with any other people who had traveled to Wuhan (except patient 1)….

Steve, on the subject of rejecting data, I used three years of CDC BEFORE the implementation of HACCP and three years AFTER the implementation showing that the incidence of Food poisoning had CONSISTENTLY DOUBLED after testing was handed over to the corporations. That data was handed to a group that presented it to Congress. The CDC in those congressional hearings then LIED THEIR ASSES OFF ABOUT THEIR OWN DATA!
As a result of those lies, children died nasty horrible deaths!

USDA’s “Don’t Look, Don’t Know” Policy for Beef Inspection

The 2017-2018 flu season was the worse season in over a decade. Look at this season and the major spike around week 6, two weeks or so after President Trump shutdown travel from China. And notice another spike in week 11.
Week 8 ~ February 24th (Thanks Jo Nova) “Italy now has 134 cases. Two days ago it thought it had only 3. 26 people have been hospitalized.” And we know that a week after that Biogen imported the disease to their conference.
Looking at the curves it looks like President Trump’s travel restrictions may have worked. And yeah that is a Silly Wild Ass guess.

And while we are on the subject of Eyes WIDE SHUT!
The people most likely to die are the ones most likely to NOT have an autopsy.
Steep Decline in Autopsy Rate Since 1970s
Over the Past 35 Years, Far Fewer Autopsies Done on People Who Died of Disease

Aug. 4, 2011 — The autopsy rate in the U.S. has declined dramatically since 1972, mainly because fewer autopsies are being done on people who die of disease, according to a new CDC report.
Overall, the percentage of deaths for which autopsies were performed declined from 19.3% in 1972 to 8.5% in 2007, a drop of more than 50%, according to the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics….
Here are the 10 most common causes of autopsies in the U.S. as of 2007:
♦️ Assault, 97.1% of deaths associated with assault were autopsied
♦️ Legal intervention, 89.7% (This term was not defined in the study.)
♦️ Undetermined events, 80.8%
♦️ Accidental poisoning, 79%
♦️ Accidental drowning or submersion, 74.3%
♦️ Accidental discharge of firearms, 67.6%
♦️ Accidental exposure to smoke, fire, and flames, 59.9%
♦️ Pregnancy, childbirth, and deaths that occur within six weeks of childbirth, 54.5%
♦️ Water, air, space, and other unspecified transport accidents, 50.9%
♦️ Other key findings of the report:
Autopsy rates declined after ages 15-24, from 60% for young people in the 15-24 age group to 11% for people aged 55 to 64, and to less than 5% for people between 65 and 74.….

Gail, that first spike on the graph coincides with Qtree and local reports of severe respiratory illness around Christmas time.comment image

I left that one out because of the typical holiday season disease spread. Thanksgiving to Christmas to New Years there is a LOT of travel.
Now it looks like Dr Birx is saying that the Christmas spike may have been partly the China Flu.
