Once again, the politicians get to live by a different set of rules while the rest of us are asked to give up more and more of our daily lives. Right now in my area, it is illegal for me to do what exactly they’re doing in this picture. I’m not even allowed spend time outside with my own family in the local taxpayer-funded park without getting a citation from law enforcement, but the Senate is free to carry on like normal. Screw this psy-op (because if these Senators were under any -real- threat, then they wouldn’t be buddy-buddy like this).
And I’m not counting Rand Paul because he’s been targeted by cabal since at least 2017. He’s a special case.
Actually, it is not illegal. The “order” to stay in your homes is unconstitutional. You can choose to obey it if you want.
I’m not obeying it. I’m continuing to live my daily life as normal as possible despite the shutdowns. Fuck the Democrats here for telling me I can’t go outside while my own Senators don’t even believe the fear porn the media is selling. I refuse to live in fear or by their double standards.
Bonus: The abortion clinics here are still open despite dental and eye clinics being forced to shut down by the state. Fuck you if you have a vision or dental emergency, but you’re free to kill your baby at any time! And people even here still naively believe this is all about saving lives. Even the Senators don’t believe that.

Long story short, the Governor is holding non-abortion medical clinics to impossible standards. It’s been in the local media for days, doctors are complaining in the media, and I’ve talked to my government representatives about the situation. I’m not the least bit convinced that any of the famous people claiming to have the WuFlu are actually sick. Among the theories I’ve heard why as to some would falsely claim to be sick:
– Sliding the newscycle
– Intentionally spreading panic / selling the narrative
– Warning others in the cabal that they’re under arrest or surveillance
– General whoring for media attention
– Using “quarantine” as an excuse to evade Deep State threats (at least in the case of Republicans and Trump supporters)

HCQ – hydroxychloroquine is not 100% effective against malaria and must be taken with care. My sister was a nurse missionary and for some reason, despite chloroquine, she got both malaria and dengue fever and was very ill. Either she got careless or she got invaded by resistant bug/s.

Recap reasons we have been expecting this:
1) Death has been quicker for some than the route to recovery. Many have died within a short time of being tested/confirmed diagnosed and hospitalized. However, those who are fully recovering take many days/weeks (filling hospital beds the entire time, of course). Recoveries take longer than do most of the deaths which do not seem to be lingering deaths.
2) testing has increased so we are now including milder cases in the diagnosed totals and mild cases have a higher recovery rate for obvious reasons. Previously, only those with severe cases/symptoms and those with known exposure to a diagnosed case so the severity of diagnosed cases was heavily populated with severe cases which would be more likely to pass away.
As expected as it has been for that number to begin to gain…so Happy to see Recovered significantly overtaking deaths. Finally!!!!!

Here is a more generic study. In a nutshell the secretions from the nose/sinuses and throat which are less viscous may not have enough virus to be detected compared to the thick gunk you cough up from deep in your lungs where the virus is multiplying.
This study seems to indicate the heavy viscosity of the sample makes testing difficult.

You are getting a lot of false NEGATIVES which is very bad news.
This older study explains you don’t find the virus in the nose and throat as often as you do from the stuff in the lungs where the virus is multiplying. Since that stuff is thick and gooey esp with this virus it is difficult to test.

This study used data on confirmed COVID-19 deaths by day from WHO websites and local and national governments; data on hospital capacity and utilization for US states; and observed COVID-19 utilization data from select locations to develop a statistical model forecasting deaths and hospital utilization against capacity by state for the US over the next 4 months.

RESULTS
Compared to licensed capacity and average annual occupancy rates, excess demand from COVID-19 at the peak of the pandemic in the second week of April is predicted to be 64,175 (95% UI 7,977 to 251,059) total beds and 17,309 (95% UI 2,432 to 57,584) ICU beds. At the peak of the pandemic, ventilator use is predicted to be 19,481 (95% UI 9,767 to 39,674). The date of peak excess demand by state varies from the second week of April through May. We estimate that there will a total of 81,114 deaths (95% UI 38,242 to 162,106) from COVID-19 over the next 4 months in the US. Deaths from COVID-19 are estimated to drop below 10 deaths per day between May 31 and June 6.

this is a HUGE focus for hospital systems. They are ordering equipment to be ready as well as making significant changes to patient flow (facilitated by rules being waived/revamped by the feds for the emergency).
And this is a key reason to flatten the curve and slow the spread – spread out the use of our hospitals, buy time to prepare our hospitals, buy time to find effective treatments.

We would have been prepared to a degree anyway just being more away and informed that it was coming but reading your posts and that blog really helped us think through what to begin doing for ourselves and what to have on hand.

This is the hard data from 1 state that shows the seriousness of WuFlu. When comparing WuFlu/China Virus/Covid 19 to the flu and then asking what the big deal is … we first have to know what the Hard/literal numbers are for the flu, how many hospitalizations/how many hospital beds are usually dedicated to these cases, and how long of a period over which these cases take place.
When we read WuFlu states, remember: Higher rate of hospitalizations, higher rate of ICU, Much faster spread and the numbers are happening all at once v. flu data which is a total of 12 months or, if this season’s flu, the numbers have been accumulating for 6 Months…not just the last 20 days. If we merely match 6 months of flu cases in 1 month with Wuhan … tremendous strain on the medical system. If we surpass…its serious!
To take today’s totals of Wuhan and compare to total flu for this seasons is apples to oranges because the time frame is so different + Wuhan is increasing rapidly while flu does not increase as rapidly & is actually decreasing at this time.
To take today’s totals of Wuhan is to Miss the point…the very near projections are point. To spread the talking points that all of these actions are unnecessary because the #s are Wuhan are lower than the flu is to spread misinformation, to demonstrate a misunderstanding of the situation and undermines President Trump and his leadership.

BIG problem is Herd Immunity.

I do actually live in south Florida….I do have my own sense of what’s “dire”….but the words I used in my post were “keeps getting worse”…and today’s confirmed cases (2,355) are, in fact, almost 400 more cases than we had since about this time yesterday…so, imo, that escalation is “worse”…I don’t need to compare your state with my state’s stats to comprehend the status quo here …and the status quo I’m concerned about here is the worsening of the spread in south Florida particulalry in my own county and the 2-3 others due east of me.

This also lists deaths and hospitalizations so you can see how the health care system is being loaded in your county. The number of hospitalizations in and of itself is not the full story – lower #s for smaller counties could still mean a problem as it just depends on how many hospital beds are available.

Unfortunately not all are ICU beds so it will depend on whether they are convertible or we end up with open wards as they supposedly did in China.
In any case We are NOT going shopping except for more livestock feed. Call and order before hand. Have the exact $$ in an envelope taped to the back of the truck bed. They grab the envelope and toss the feed into the bed of the truck.
They know us so it should work out just fine. I am going to get the feed on a nice HOT SUNNY DAY and it stays out for 24 – 48 hours so the sun sanitizes the bags.

Unfortunately nature can be rather brutal when it comes to teaching lessons. That is why we had schools, books and history lessons. Now they no longer function so it is back to the brutal lessons from history.

Lots of children playing outside together. Did not see social distancing. Did not see law enforcement enforcing the stay at home order.

Same here. It’s so gorgeous, people are poluting the air with leaf blowers. The couch commando opened the windows…DP closed the windows after what amounted to an allergy attack.
The air quality here has been poor since this whole thing started and it doesn’t seem like normal pollen, either.
Sad to know so many are not doing their part to slow the growth and making all of us suffer.
Guess some people just won’t listen. Sad that the children are playing together, exchanging infections, getting it themselves and taking it home to their families.
If they would just stay home and slow the growth we could all begin to get back to “normal” or at least semi normal, sooner

When the politicians themselves don’t practice “social distancing,” then they’ve got no right to expect it from the rest of the public. Regardless, I don’t see this lasting past Easter as the weather continues to warm up. We’re already about halfway toward the public collectively telling the local politicians to take their “shelter at home” order and shove it.
And yet those same people not following the gov recommendations will whine and fuss when the local hospitals are not prepared to handle the oncoming case load and will expect the gov to provide help and rescue and cost the rest of the nation $ and more time off. Ugh!
We need to partner together and slow the spread to conquer this invisible enemy as President Trump has asked.
Irresponsible to let children play together like that for parent’s own children’s sake as well as their family’s sake.
Politicians (most) are working Hard to keep gov services working during this time of National Emergency. They are working together in person, despite the danger, to get their job done. It is not a privilege…it is their responsibility.
President Trump is not flaunting going to work with his team in our face – he is doing at a sacrifice, as are all of the politicians we see working hard for us every day…Despite the dangers.
We ought not act like children we are rebellious at being told to do something for our own good and wondering why the adults don’t have to do it. That makes us sound silly and immature, rebelling just because we don’t like being told what to do.
We need to Trust Trump, follow his guidelines and understand that just like parents and their teens, President Trump and our politicians may know things we don’t and may have good reasons to give the advice they are giving.
President Trump is walking a fine balance between fed gov overreach and state’s rights, gov leadership v. gov overbearance.
We need to pull together, realize the facts of what President Trump is dealing with and cooperate with President Trump for the good of our country and our neighbors. The sooner we follow President Trump’s leadership, the sooner the spread of this virus will slow and we can get back to normal or at least semi-normal. Trust Trump.

I do not trust the local and state Democrats who cheat during elections, publicly hate President Trump, and insult their constituents every chance they get. They have plenty of motive to spread panic and tank the economy as much as possible before the election. The same Democrats claiming that we need to shut down eye and dental clinics across the state because of a “drastic shortage of medical supplies!” have curiously left the abortion clinics open. They are NOT “responsible,” and the only thing they are “working hard” at is taking away more our rights, destroying our local economy, and intentionally making life here miserable. So in response, I will continue to live my normal life as much as possible, visit the park I helped pay for with my tax dollars, and I hope every other person in my neighborhood joins in me in telling these lying, thieving, pieces of human garbage to take their un-Constitutional “stay at home” order and shove it straight up their rear. I’d rather be called “silly” and “immature” than surrender my rights and way of life in fear to these Democratic tyrants.
Right after I posted this, the local news reported that some parks in the area were forced to order more port-o-potties due to the surge in park traffic. Some parks were forced to re-open because people were ignoring the closed signs.

Germany’s numbers are really weird. 44,000 cases and only 267 deaths. But if you look at the rest of the EU, the death rate is MUCH higher.
It’s an anomaly that has the “experts” confounded.

Today one of the lead articles in the newspaper was about the FIRST person to die in the state supposedly from corona virus. Her name became known because of family/friends. Within the five days before she was hospitalized she attended a lodge meeting and worked at a part-time job where she had contact with the public. Neither of these places were contacted to alert them of her status by the state or local health department. Instead these places were notified by the family. If this happened with the first death you know there is absolutely no tracking of contacts.
Unfortunately, that level of lack of follow-up may be widespread.
There was a case in France around March 7 (positive test) whereby the woman below — a television producer in Paris — was instructed by her hospital (Pitie-Salpetriere, if I remember rightly) to tell her contacts from the Thursday and Friday concerned that she was infected and that they should self-isolate.
One of her two closest contacts came down with coronavirus, possibly because the two of them took a lengthy taxi ride together on one of those days.
Therefore, the hospital might not need to get in touch with the contacts personally, but the patient who tested positive does — or their family, in the case you cite.

that is not how the death rate is calculated. The majority of the 704 cases are not yet resolved to death/recovery. As of now, that is the percentage who have died out of the 704 cases but that is Not the “death rate”.

Ohio reported “10” deaths. It was the death percentage of the 704. I wasn’t projecting anything else. It does prove, as the people in Ohio see that the projections are not matching up to the reality. Frankly, half of what’s been said means we’d have piled corpses in the street by now – we don’t. I don’t need to take it any further than what LIO posted. Dealing with reality and facts in the moment. I think it’s a disservice to spend so much time in the projection – which is being proved right now. For some reason, this is important to you, but don’t be insulting to those who don’t agree. I don’t need you to be patient with me.
I’m in the field, I’m involved in health care in my area, and I know how much this serious public health issue is. I also know that there is a disconnect in the wildly touted numbers of mortality, and that the projection of desperateness as evidenced by the mostly blue state governors is a problem.
NYC has a problem – NYC has had a problem ever since they closed hospitals and cut back on supplies and staff for decades, worsening in recent years. The cries of shortages in NYC were there long before this event – the MSM will use this and blame the virus – it’s what they do.
First case in my county, Church of Christ Minister, lives net door to my best girlfriend. He got i from his son, who just returned from overseas…… no idea as to country, yet.
