Obola made a mistake when he killed NASA’s manned spaceflight capability.
But perhaps not in the way you’re thinking.
We’ve been having to hitch rides to the ISS on Russian boosters ever since the Space Transportation System (the “Space Shuttle”) was decommissioned in 2011. At the time Obola said it was to encourage private enterprise to take up the slack, and NASA should concentrate on exploration…Lunar and Mars missions, unmanned exploration; the sorts of things NASA excels at.
This is actually a stated rationale I can agree with. (Settle down…I know it wasn’t the real reason.) If we are to become a truly spacefaring people…should we be leaving regular transportation to the government? The same government that couldn’t build an Obolacare website or that takes twenty years to widen an interstate?
And let’s face it, when Trump is no longer in charge, that’s the government we’ll have–grossly incompetent or grossly slow and cautious.
No. Get out of the way, and let innovative companies take it on. And so we have SpaceX and Boeing building transportation systems, the Dragon and the CST-100 Starliner, respectively. NASA contracts with them for ISS transportation. But unlike past NASA contracts, where they buy the equipment (Atlas, Delta, or Titan boosters, etc) from somebody but then manage it themselves, NASA is letting SpaceX run the show today.
It’s the same structure as buying airline tickets.
If space travel is ever to become routine and common–if we are ever to become a spacefaring species on anything more than an ad-hoc basis–this is the way it’s gotta be. Private companies running a service, that the government can buy–or not. They expect to have other customers.
This is what Obola dangled in front of us as he canceled the Space Shuttle [Edit–no, he canceled the system that was supposed to replace the shuttle]. He was almost certainly pulling a bait-and-switch of some sort. There’s be some reason not to put people on the SpaceX Dragon2 and the Boeing Starliner, some excuse…delay, delay. Just like how we knew he wanted to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline but had to clothe it in ordinary procedural bullsh*t.
In neither case did he bargain on his successor being a loyal American.
But that happened, and now we stand on the threshold of private manned orbital spaceflight. People are even booking tourist flights with companies planning to use the Dragon2!!
Alas it’s still only for people with huge amounts of cash…but it’s happening nonetheless.
The Dragon2 capsule that (we hope) will go into orbit today can hold up to seven people, but typically is set up for four, with the remaining space given over to cargo that can’t be exposed to vacuum. It can run autonomously, or it can be controlled by astronauts. (Some of the space tourism flights are slated to have no human pilot.) Shots of the interior look “clean” rather than crammed full of instruments and controls–imagine the cabin of an airliner, not the cockpit, though even the passenger space on an airliner can look a bit “busy.” It does look a lot more spacious than cattle class on an airliner.
That’s the pressurized capsule. There’s an non-pressurized “trunk” right behind it, a cylindrical section that can carry cargo that need not be pressurized, in other words, cargo that can withstand vacuum. The trunk is abandoned before returning to Earth.
The Commander of the flight will be Douglas Hurley, joined by Robert Behnken as Joint Operations Commander. Hurley was also the pilot on the very last Space Shuttle mission, on the Atlantis. I’ll bet he’s looking forward to this! The spacecraft’s name should be announced today (if the mission is not again scrubbed).
They’ll dock with the International Space Station on Sunday. Before then they will test the spacecraft in orbit. The mission is otherwise expected to be automated, with the crew only taking over if something goes wrong.
The stage lifting the capsule will return to earth and land on a barge out in the Atlantic ocean, ready for re-use. This is something SpaceX has been doing for a few years now.
Once at the ISS, the crew will spend 30 to 90 days up there, and return in the same capsule for a splashdown in the Atlantic. The capsule, too, is intended to be reused.
If this launch doesn’t happen, (and the weather does look about as iffy as it did on Wednesday) then the next window is on Sunday, shortly after 3 PM ET. As in seven seconds after 3 PM.
These launch windows are exact, because the ISS is moving at 4.75 miles per second, 17,100 miles per hour, and it does little good to get to orbit when the ISS isn’t in the right location. Missing by a minute means missing by 285 miles, about the “height” of Colorado on a map. Fuel would have to be expended to change the Dragon2’s orbit, then change it back once it has synced up with the ISS. And that fuel would cut into payload. And it’s called a payload because it, and only it, is what the customer is actually paying for.
The estimates are that there is one chance in 276 that the crew won’t survive the mission, and one chance in 60 that the mission will fail with the crew being safe. (This is actually a better safety record than the Space Shuttle had–let’s hope that in the years to come we exceed it by a huge margin.)
It has been nine LONG years, but we’re going back to space, in a way that long-term will be vastly better than clunky government projects that take decades. It was painful, but I believe 20 years from now we will look back and say “it was worth it.”
So what was Obola’s mistake? As I alluded to before, he was probably trying to kill US manned spaceflight permanently. Turning NASA into nothing but an SJW advocacy organization.
Instead, he has done us some good.
Which can’t possibly be what he intended.

The Future
Space travel is expensive, and will continue to be expensive. We’re no longer throwing away the entire spacecraft after every flight, but they must still go through expensive refurbishment after every flight–and then the launch vehicle has to be re-assembled. SpaceX is doing this more cleanly than NASA, but even so, it’d be soooo much nicer if we could get to orbit with one stage. “Single State To Orbit” (SSTO) is the holy grail of space travel. It’s just out of our grasp, but close isn’t good enough.
Imagine if that spacecraft could be turned around and reused in a week…or a day.

Add to that the fact that if you can get into and out of orbit…you can go anywhere on Earth in less than an hour, because a round trip in orbit is about ninety minutes. Imagine the Space Force delivering commandos to…well, fill in the blank! On an hour’s notice. Of course, that’s a lot harder, because you’re unlikely to be able to gas the sucker back up in hostile territory. Doing TWO orbits and reentries on one tank of gas is well beyond us. So far. But assuming a friendly destination, imagine what we can do if we can deliver something to (say) Diego Garcia in an hour.
And actually going to orbit will be significantly cheaper. As routine as the Pan Am flights in 2001? Maybe!
Of course the real answer is the space elevator, but that’s totally beyond our capabilities right now. We basically need SSTO before we can even think about building something that ambitious in orbit. The fundamental problem is we’re stuck “down here,” and have to get not just ourselves but everything we need to function, “up there.” But with a space elevator…it takes nothing but electricity to get “up there.” And once in orbit, the rest is easy.

Today’s Coin
Now it wouldn’t be one of my posts without a coin, would it?
And yes, there’s one appropriate to our theme…a coin that depicted, allegorically, one of our proudest achievements. We put men on the Moon. So far, no one else has. And maybe we will again, soon. Unfortunately Eugene Cernan, the last man on the Moon, who surely must have hated holding that record, passed away in 2017 and did not live to see us go back. But soon, I think. During Trump’s third term.
The reverse is our focus here, as it is an adaptation of the Apollo 11 patch. In 1971 we were still taking trips to the Moon, and of course we were justifiably proud of the achievement.

The Eisenhower Dollar was the last full-sized “silver” dollar to be issued; in 1979 we went to the “Carter Quarter,” the Susan B. Anthony dollar, a coin just a bit larger than a quarter, and at a casual glance indistinguishable. Those were produced until 1981, then again in 1999, after which we went to the Sacajawea “golden dollar” which was the same size but colored quite differently.
Ike dollars are readily available at coin shops, they will charge a little bit over a dollar for them (they do have to make a living) but probably well under two dollars unless you want an uncirculated one…or a SILVER one.
Yes, some were made in silver for collectors, both in regular and proof finish, but alas not 90% silver like the older real silver dollars, but rather a 90% layer on each side surrounding a much-less-pure silver/copper alloy in the center, for a net 40% silver content. (Kennedy half dollars from 1965-1970 are like this too.) As long as the coin doesn’t start to tarnish, however, it will look like silver even on the edge, whereas our dime, quarter and half dollar today have that red-turning-to-brown edge on them. That solid silvery edge looks nifty.

It stimulated the private sector to get into that business.

Historically, the Exploration of our planet was done by the private sector, for the most part.
It was motivated by commerce and the curiosity to find new resources to exploit.
The private sector can accomplish things more efficiently than the government.
That’s because the private sector has to make it’s own money…rather that take it from citizens by force.

Probably not, because the Dragon2 will dock with the ISS. No need for an EVA that way.

It is.
In writing this I had to look up the ISS, it orbits about 480 miles up, and the inclination is a bit more than 51 degrees, which makes it easier for the Russians to get to it. That does mean that it can overfly the southernmost “strip” of Canada–Vancouver, Calgary, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg. (Any launch site north of there, the spacecraft would have to make a plane change to rendezvous…and that is an expensive maneuver.)
Dangit, that’s kilometers, not miles.
I did this about two weeks ago. Story said you’d be able to see the space station for eight minutes or so. Later that night found one of these sites that told you how and when. It said it would be visible in part of the sky for so many minutes tracking out of the S Heading NE and sure enough it was up there, just a white shiny star like dot zipping along across the length of the sky, but instead of going out view by passing the horizon, it went out of view when the sun was no longer making it visible. Although it was supposed to be visible for eight minutes, I only saw about three minutes of it though, mostly because I was out taking my evening walk and wasn’t a hundred percent on when and where.
Basically, this means you have to see it within some small amount of time of sunset or sunrise, and obviously at night. As long as it’s still outside of the earth’s shadow, it should be pretty darned bright–it’s big, shiny, and not all that far away, really.
Trust me, to the naked eye it is just a small dot of light. Easy to miss.
PRO TIP:
Don’t look for it. Instead, look for the RELATIVE MOTION of it against the stars. Focus on the sky where you expect to see it and watch for motion against the background.
Remember the movie Jurassic Park and the Tyrannosaurus Rex? He could only see you if you were moving. Well, our eyes work the exact same way. It is FAR easier to spot a deer or another animal moving against a stationary background (ie. relative motion) vs. spotting that same deers standing perfectly still.
Look at a quadrant of sky and take in the whole forrest…..don’t look at a single tree. Then after a few moments, shift to the next quadrant of sky. Rinse, repeat. Your eyes will spot the relative motion of the single tree that is moving against the stationary background.
That is the ISS (or another satellite).
One thing that helps is it’s supposed to be very bright.
I once saw an iridium flare; the satellite was for just a split second, oriented to reflect the sun at me. Magnitude -6 or so, so it was quite a bit brighter than Venus, but just for a second or two (we had instructions on exactly where to be looking).

In the context of the president’s entire Tweet, we see the following elements:

The Military kills people and breaks things.
They Military has a very wide array of tools at their disposal to accomplish their task, but no matter how bad things get in Minnesota, it’s a safe bet that B52s, missiles, artillery, etc. will not be employed.
Guns certainly would be though, and what do guns do? They SHOOT.
Historically, when the “Military” (by which the President could certainly mean the National Guard) is brought in to restore lawful order in the event of mobs, rioting and looting, what does the “Military” DO?!?
They SHOOT.
This action, the lawful use of force, to which a significant percentage of the population seems to have developed a radical allergic reaction to, is a necessary part of STOPPING the perpetrators of lawless violence.
So when the President says he has talked to the Gov. of Minnesota about restoring lawful order, that the Military is “with him all the way”, and THEN concludes “but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts”, that is either a typically vague threat to restore order according to ALL historic precedent (not to mention previously mentioned purpose of the Military), or it’s some fantasy interlude in SD’s mind.
The original Tweet was at 12:53 am (May 29). Since apparently SD did not comment until AFTER the President issued one of his frequent ‘revised and extended remarks’ Tweet, we’ll never know what SD initially thought.

After the President’s follow up Tweet, SD rushed in to condemn anyone who drew the obvious, rational and intended message of the original Tweet. Then he popped into a phone booth, and came out as Mamet Principle, assuring us that no thought so deplorable would ever cross the President’s mind.

That’s BS. It’s embarrassing BS. In order to make that statement, SD has to pretend he doesn’t know certain things. Like the purpose of the Military, or the historic use of the Military in similar situations, or DJT’s history of feints and vague (and not so vague) implied threats.
Trump is doing what he always does, he says what he means but does it in a way that leaves just enough room that he can say he meant something else when the appropriate time comes. That doesn’t mean he didn’t intend the original message, it means that he is not going to stand still and present himself as a stationary target when the TDS media respond to his messaging. He can simply extend and revise his comments, moving off the ‘X’, and the enemy suddenly loses their lock on the target.
For a little ADDITIONAL CONTEXT, let’s take a look at the Tweet BETWEEN the two that SD focused on, yet another example where SD had to pretend he doesn’t know certain things (like the existence of this intermediary Tweet), the Tweet SD did NOT mention, posted by the President at 10:46am (May 29):

Imma have to disagree with you on all that. When I read the president’s tweet for the first time my interpretation of it was the exact same as that presented by SD.
And right now in this moment as I’m responding to you, I can’t recall the last time the US military actually fired on US civilians…
… that’s how long ago it was.
Moreover, as tragic as it might be, from a political standpoint nothing would be greater for our cause than for political leftists rioting in American streets to shoot and kill a US soldier.
Now, that might sound course and harsh, but from a political standpoint that would pit all of America against communist leftists burning our cities and leave them politically naked to whatever action is necessary to put muzzles on those animals and lock them up.
The very last thing we want to see is for the US military to fire on civilians, regardless of provocation. How would the military know which civilian to shoot?
The mere presence of the United States military on US streets should be enough to stop this crap. no one needs to be shooting anyone else.
The bonus marchers were driven out of DC by US troops under MacArthur and Patton. That was in mid 1932. But even there, I found no mention of shooting, just that day’s version of tear gas.
KENT STATE RIOTS
May 4, 1970, Ohio National Guard shot 13 unarmed Kent State University students killing four.
The protest was about the town removing the voting rights of the returned Vietnam vets who were on the GI Bill. The voting age at the time was 21 so these were fully adult men WHO WERE LIVING IN TOWN and not going home in the summer to mommy. My friend was 26 with a wife and two kids when he was in that protest. Many of the other students were also older
The Fake News and the historical rewrite spun the story to be protests against the war AND NOT AGAINST DISENFRANCHISING VETERANS. The draft age was between 18-25 years so the students on the GI bill could easily be in their late twenties and even early to late thirties. This is because during the Vietnam War, about two-third of American troops were volunteer and the maximum age for military enlistment is 39 years old depending on branch.
This really deserves at least a full post treatment honestly . . .

This is fascinating. Can you explain it? Because the logic and the context is all in one direction, and so is the President’s history of baiting the enemy while making forceful points, only to later revise his remarks so he can’t be pinned down by the pressitutes.
I am intensely curious how anyone can read DJT’s tweet, in context, with an understanding of why the military would need to be deployed in the first place, and an understanding of what the military is designed and created to do.
There is no controversy over the fact that the President said the military was with the Gov. and apparently 500 members of the National Guard (so far) have been deployed to Minneapolis. What is the purpose of sending in the National Guard in response to looting and riots, if not to restore order?
How does one restore order without a credible demonstration of force?
What is the National Guard supposed to do, give them space to riot? Shout at them? Threaten them with a time-out?
Or is the National Guard just going there to be murdered?
Someone here recently wondered if the National Guard / Military would have live ammo. It’s a valid question after 8 years of Hussein, but assuming Trump doesn’t want to send American men and women of the armed forces into a suicidal massacre, I’m pretty sure they’ll be equipped with live ammo.
If send trained military men into what would certainly be a de facto combat zone under martial law, what are you sending them to do?
Presumably to restore order?
How do you do that, when many looters and rioters are armed with guns, kidnapping women (multiple reports), lighting entire city blocks on fire and destroying billions of dollars of property?
Do you just let them do it?
Do you not enforce the law?
Do you just watch people being kidnapped, raped, murdered?
Or do you do something about it?
If you’re not, then why were you sent there?
And if you do something about it, what are you going to do, and what are you going to use to it?

And that’s exactly why we have chaos and anarchy, from sea to shining sea. Because nobody can remember a time when the lawful Authorities ever did anything to stop rioters and looters from doing anything.
This is an important subject, because there is every indication that the Cabal intends to go all the way, in every sense of the word. They have already unleashed a global dempanic. It turned out to be a dud, but it did succeed in shutting down the whole planet for 3+ months, and we’ll never know how many were killed, either because of the China virus or because of deaths related to the shut-down.
When (not if) push comes to shove, we’re going to have to decide whether we just roll over and surrender, or if we might screw up our courage enough to actually do SOMETHING… anything, to stop the enemy combatants.
If we won’t support stopping them from looting, raping, murdering and burning down whole cities, then I guess the question is, what do they have to do, in order for We the People to stop them?
Is there anything they could do, where we would say “No more, this line you will not cross?”

Reports of the number of looters killed vary from a dozen to a hundred.
In December, 1913, the San Antonio River overflowed, and there was serious flooding in central Texas. The order issued to the state police was, “Shoot all looters, and shoot to kill.””

As for which enemy combatant to shoot, that should be pretty straightforward. The governor declares martial law within the city, and establishes rules of engagement. The thought came to me because I was reminded of one of my close friends in college, he was the starting linebacker for our college football team. He could stop a window fan with his tongue. 😁
Another memory about this same friend that always makes me smile was at a keg party in college. A full keg (half barrel) weighs 160 Lbs., and it’s an awkward weight. My roommate and I had to get it from the truck to the house.
We could do it, but my roommate turned to our friend (the linebacker) and said “I bet you can’t carry that all by yourself”.
He looked at the keg, and said “I bet I can”, and proceeded to pick it up, raise it to his shoulder, and carried it in the house.

I got into an online argument with a Turk and a Canadian one time. They were by no means conservatives, but a lot more rational than a lot of Leftists; I could find common ground with them.

I’ve run an internal audit team of very sharp young accountants. And, every so often, it would hit me that my EXCESS body weight probably outweighed one. They’re not going to send me to space when they could send two of them in my place.
And, BTW, my profile is more like Bill Barr than ANY cinematic version of Baron Harkonnen…..these kids were small.
Reminds me of our first internal audit visit to the UK office of the company I was working with. You could see Windsor Castle if you looked out the right window at the correct angle. We’d flown in on, IIRC, Saturday, because jetlag’s such a pain. Because it was our first visit, I brought my sharpest knife — a phillippina gal well under five feet tall who would complain about feeling bloated at 90 pounds. As we came up the staircase to the doors of the office, I was carrying everything — computers, documentation, adapters, and the like. It wasn’t a material percentage of my body weight, where a legal pad may have been a chunk of hers.
We did introductions all around, and got her set up in a cube. It was very close to being necessary to sit her on a phone book to be at the right height for the screen, but we managed. They were all looking at me as if I had brought along a pet monkey, or a child on a junket. And I started sniffing out records, slapping a post-it on them referencing an audit plan, and putting them on her “in” side…..and she started executing audit plans, logging results, and moving them to her “out” side, from which I’d re-file them. At the end of the day, she had churned through a stack of files taller than she was, and we set down with the team to give them an idea of that day’s progress. We had about 20 things that did not perform as documented, about a half dozen actual erroneous numbers reported to HQ as true, and three massive failures that might warrant firing if that had been our focus. And they were all documented beautifully. My sharpest knife.
The next day, they were visibly scared of her. I had seemed to bumble about and do water-cooler discussions all day, while piling documents in her cube — which had been their previous experience with auditors — but she had produced all the documented results. It didn’t seem to click with them that I’d written all the audit plans, which is why *I* was there.
Another anecdote from the same gig — we were showing success and could add people, so I was in charge of interviewing candidates.
My job interviews are a little loopy. They’re supposed to take about an hour — the first third, I talk about the company’s needs and answer questions; the second third, I drill into their qualifications and skills; and the third, we brainstorm together about how their abilities can fill the company’s needs. I think it’s logical, and it seems to work for me (mostly). In addition, it’s “fair”, in that everything is really about the role (the final third also tests how well we work together).
So I got this candidate who was fresh off the boat from Malaysia. Fluent English, had worked for a British bank, spoke a clipped version of standard English that I could barely understand. The interview was in a one-hour slot, but I had two hours available. I didn’t really get a clear shot at a fit in the first 20 minutes, so I decided on an impromptu plant tour. Told her all sorts of things about what the company did, as well as company subsidized lunches and other information regarding the industry.
We pounded her resume upside, downside, sideways, and inside-out. It wasn’t a total fit on anything but there was a bunch of promise involved. Many of the elements of her degrees didn’t match exactly with the way things were done here.
So we started on the third program, where we reconcile the position’s requirements with the applicant’s skillset, and I ask, what about the subsidized lunch? And she IMMEDIATELY responds, “$1.50 for a cold sandwich and $3 for a hot lunch.”
We shucked and jived for another few minutes, then ended the interview. I then called the agency/HR and told them that she was it and to cancel all other interviews.
Because that’s exactly what you need in internal audit — you know some odd rule from when it didn’t seem important and call it when it’s not observed.

Midnight. After Damage was ongoing for 4hrs. Apparently the curfew was used as a bluff, they didn’t have enough Leo’s throughout city to enforce. A few cops at 3rd precinct had a perimeter and threatened crowd with curfew arrest which got them to disperse and move the riots to other parts of the city where there was no leo presence. Mayor needs to resign, he’s worthless.
Doesn’t it stand to reason that all of the circumstantial evidence like the wheelchair lady, the umbrella dude and his pink shirt frenenemy ( in one vid he’s accusing him of being a cop & later far from there casually walking with him) and the seamless multi city national uprisings that the original incident wasn’t in some part staged?

Did you see tweet by Paul Sperry? Apparently the knee on the neck maneuver is allowed by Mini PD to subdue a suspect, even to the point of having them pass out is OK. That explains why Cop didn’t care about being videoed and why others did not stop him. They were doing what they believed was allowed. Personally, I consider this film to be the third leg of the epic trifecta of the early NASA films….”The Right Stuff”….”Apollo 13”….and now “Apollo 11”.
How this film did not win an academy award for editing is simply beyond rational explanation. ALL of it was taken from archival footage and sound, with only the music score as a modern addition.
Everything you both see AND hear in this film is 100% genuine. No actors, no voice actors, all directly taken from NASA archival footage.

Can I make a small confession?
I can’t watch a film like this without tears of pride and awe. I only wish most americans knew…..truly knew and understood…..the depth and breadth of this mind-boggling achievement. How dangerous it really was. How whole, entire, brand new sciences had to not only be born, but perfected to a high degree (like orbital mechanics) in order to make this happen.
Remember, this was done at the height of the Cold War. NASA didn’t have the advantage of the Soviets and get to do this behind a curtain where, if something went wrong, they could cover it up. No…..this was done with the whole world watching……had something gone wrong it would have represented a MASSIVE blow to the national psyche, morale, and global reputation.
EVERYTHING was riding on this mission. All the Gemini flights, all the years of trial and error, etc, etc.
This was and is truly one of America’s finest moments in history.
So yeah, I get a little emotional about it. Always will, too.

Japan’s probes, for example, have sent back some excellent high-resolution photography of the moon’s surface.
Photos show the equipment that we left there…exactly where we said we landed.
The photos *also* show the tracks of our lunar rovers, where our guys traveled around the landing sites.
So the proof exists that we actually *did* go to the moon.

When the Secret Service agents showed up in riot gear with shields, and then formed a line and pushed them back…the thugs got angry.
Angry thugs then started turning on the press that was there.

He seemed really surprised that they would be turning on him.

our county in PA moved to GREEN yesterday. However, our restaurants can only operate at 50% capacity–entertainment at 50%–etc. There are NO MORE phases after green…and our governor has given no guidance as to when we move back to normal. most restaurants around here cannot operate at 50%…they will lose too much money and close.

An autopsy of Floyd was conducted Tuesday following his death on Monday after Chauvin restrained him for nearly nine minutes by pressing his knee on Floyd’s neck.
The full report by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office is pending but so far has found “no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation.”
Floyd’s underlying health conditions included coronary artery disease and hypertensive heart disease. The report says the underlying health conditions, combined with Chauvin’s restraint and any possible intoxicants in Floyd’s system, likely contributed to his death.

I have a busy day ahead, so, unfortunately, any “discussion” will be sporadic at best today.
BUT, I do have to relay that it was a noisy night here in the Lou. The winds were still, and there was quite a bit of activity to the east. Heard multiple incidents of what sounded like semi-automatic pops. It wasn’t fireworks, that’s for sure. A lot of sirens.
On the news this morning, there were visual shots of “protesters” downtown. One was on Washington Ave.. in the regentrified section. Another in front of the municipal court building. There are reports that “protesters” shut down I-44 for some reason. Probably proximity since I-70 and I-55 are hard to get to.
So far, no fires.
However, there are some things to note: this time around, the governor is NOT a Democrat. He’s a machine RINO, but he’s not a Dem. The mayor in the city, OTOH, is a Democrat flake. When Ferguson happened, the previous mayor may have been a Dem, but he’s no flake. And Ferguson is in the county, not the city. At the time – and this got missed in national broadcasts – the county executive, a black man who…well, he pretty much was a walking stereotype, had just been primaried out of office. We also had the most honest man in STL politics as county prosecutor, and he’s gone, replaced with a Soros backed idiot, just like the city prosecutor is.
I assume it’s the governor that’s keeping this city from exploding just yet. Really, the last time around, the people doing the agitating and actual burning down, and even looting, weren’t from here. And the main leaders of the crap are all dead. One by one, they died in not all that natural ways.
So, we’ll see how this all comes out.

One of our Q treepers posited that these “protests” and riots and looting are for distraction from the Flynn-Kislyak transcripts being released.
Maybe, but I think there’s more to it, even more than just the COVID-19 thing having run its course.
If this is all about the election, and is part of instlling fear into the people so as to accept mail-in ballots, that makes a little more sense. It was tried with COVID and didn’t work. People WILL insist on staying home out of fear, though, when push comes to shove. Even to vote.
(Side note: the only people in my circles with one exception who want mail in ballots are liberals. Everybody else wants voter ID and to show up in person, so there is that.)
The other thing…this just so happens to explode the very week the US severs ties with the World Health Organization, kicks Chinese students out of the country, and whatever other booms happened this week that didn’t seem like much to us, the people in the cheap seats, but must mean a lot to whoever is financing all this crap unfolding.

Not well know is that the SSCI (Read: Diane Feinstein) as well as the CIA and FBI were giving large grants of money to the American Academy of Religion for decades. They in turn were pouring money into the Evangelical Theological Society and to religious faculty and seminaries – with the express intent of suppressing undesirable theological viewpoints. I know this b/c I know the person who was the chairman of the academic committee for assigning the grant money for the state of California decades ago – it was not considered a plum academic job. In turn, this funneling of the money was influencing the churches, b/c most churches don’t think for themselves but take their cues from the seminary system. It’s become a big Good Old Boys network, a tribal insiders Big Club, and you ain’t in it.
Moody and Willow Creek org are totally compromised – Moody was exposed only because one staff member stood in the gap and released the emails exposing what was going on. Willow Creek org is in total meltdown which has led to a massive diaspora a compromised staff and pastors who are being hired up by other churches – independent and SBC affiliated – at an alarming rate, where they come in and suddenly have an out-sized disproportionate influence on the congregation. Southern Seminary is 100% owned (Al Mohler) and they have been purging faculty. Al Mohler staged a coup to oust Paige Patterson at Southwestern and now they own SWBTS 100%. They are pushing this big discipleship program published through the ERLC that is packaged like a trojan horse to push social justice in a big way – also well funded. SWBTS has had a major faculty purge just like Southern – they withhold severance packages unless you sign an NDA. A precious few have refused to go along and have spoken out, like Dr. Russell Fuller or Dr. Robert Lopez.
Your son is seeing exactly the fruits I have (painfully) witnessed throughout this transformation. They have been sold a bill of goods for years. Unless they are well grounded the students are ripe pickings for them. I saw it on display when I lead a group of students at the 2006-2007 Urbana conference where they were pushing students away from the gospel and toward social justice programs. Lots of slick messaging and advertising – most of the students would fall for it. They become like cult members – they can’t stand anyone who disagrees with them or uses logic or facts. Your son will lose many “friends”, and they will accuse him of putting politics ahead of the “gospel” (gospel of social justice, not the gospel of Christ). He needs a thick skin and expect them to do dirty things to undermine him and turn any friends they can against him.
Big Evangelicalism has been subtly more and more pushing a social justice agenda – platforming the names they want people to see. If you stand against them they deplatform you, attack your legitimacy, slander your character, shun and ostracize you, turn your own church and family against you, and blacklist you with other area churches. If you are in the ministry, they trump up phony charges against you, and intentionally frustrate your work, try to get you to quit or demand your resignation (they don’t want to “fire” you). Then if you try to apply anywhere else, they give you nasty bad references so you can’t even get a job as a janitor in another church. God overcomes all and takes care of the righteous, but the pain and suffering is real.
It is spiritual warfare. Put on the whole armor of God.

He’s sparred and debated his friends for years and is well prepared for this moment. He has a bit of a passion that I’m seeing more strongly these past few days of unrest happening. The Jared Arms vid below captures the full drag of stupid thug. Jared is also one of the stupid thugs. Vid is very long and has no controls that I can detect so provides this short description.
Starts with long long scene of Jared Arms’s stupid friends blocking traffic on the Hwy. Of note, no police come to this spot even though traffic has been stopped for a long period of time. There is traffic being blocked on highway below as well as the street above that the Fed Ex truck uses near the end of the video. A few cars manage to get by in the first 12 to 15 minutes, before the drag begins, making video more watchable but there are long moments where not much happens.
Jared makes a few stupid comments and is generally having a good time acting like a self righteous thug. The crowd below are using both their cars and themselves to block traffic and its more like a block party where they all sit around getting high, drinking and the like as traffic has been largely stopped. There’s even a bit of gun flashing. No violence done but there’s a heavy air of intimidation and minor verbal threats.
That is until word goes up that someone is trapped between the tandem trailer of a Fed Ex truck on the upper street. Jared is hot on the scene, moving from his vantage point overlooking the lower highway to the street above where some of his other stupid friends are now banging on the doors and windows of a Fed Ex truck to get the driver to stop as it slowly tries to inch past the pesky parasites blocking the way of a legitimate commerce and who are now terribly concerned to the point of being frantic as one of their not too bright fellows is both being dragged and having the wheels of the truck spin along an already crushed portion of his body. This is where intrepid jared joins the scene running along side the truck and his friend for nearly a good half minute in complete befuddlement and dismay, crying that the truck wont stop.
Eventually Jared gives up as the truck speeds away with his friend. But wait. The truck pulls over a good two or three blocks away where the police have magically appeared and Jared eventually shows up huffing and puffing to see his friend, still pinned and quite dead.
The PATIENCE of a PATIENT MAN is a DEADLY WEAPON!

I had to drop off a colleague at Heathrow airport some years ago. In England (at least then) even a policemen couldn’t countermand a red light, and, ostensibly, other traffic signals or signs.
As it turned out, someone had either goofed horribly, or was having folks on: the signage basically made everyone drive in a loop, over and over again.
Eventually I got fed up and reached “escape velocity”. It’s been 30 years and still I’ve not gotten a ticket 🙂
Who knows, though, there might be some folks there, still in orbit, as it were…..
[Have to say it was fun there. I dropped off another colleague at the local train station at 6:00 one morning, and a few lads were there at the same time, dropping off a young miss headed to points beyond.

Last night was alarming, with protesters outside the WH. Today, Pres. Trump was completely confrident and totally calm, going about his business and watching the space launch. He didn’t seem concerned in the least. I wouldn’t expect him to show concern for his own safety or even for his family, publicly, but possibly for the state of the country. But I think his approach is better. It denies the rioters the attention they seek. He also places responsibility on the governors to protect their states and cities, and he has AG Barr putting everyone on notice about the laws that are being broken. It is the most effective way of handling this kind of thing that I’ve seen.
Plus there seems to be more police out everywhere shutting rioters down. Something went down behind the scenes. POTUS was twitter dark for about 5+hrs last night. I bet he was working the phones to the Govs. ‘Stop it or I will stop your money.’

Don’t know extent, business windows broken, looting… Crowd is NOT large. Guessing, hoping police reinforcements enroute to shut this shit down.
