I used to work for a semiconductor company. Making a chip is a lot like making a pizza — you mix the dough, you form the dough, you allow the dough to rise, you manipulate the dough, you reform it into a pizza. You add some basics — sauce, cheese — then move it on. You then add toppings and bake. On the back end, you slice it into convenient pieces.
The company where I worked was founded for a very interesting niche case — you made pep/combo/supreme/hawaiian/meat lovers’ pie, then you used a laser to remove the toppings you didn’t want. Technology was originally developed in Israel. It meant that a single wafer of 1,000 chips could have 1,000 different (similar) slices. Some of the folks that grokked the implications of that were in the security biz — we could make 500 matched pairs of encrypt/decrypt chips that worked at silicon speed without software (in practice, you’d make more than one of each in case some fell out of QA). Even though my company had moved-on from this procedure to ones that were somewhat similar, it was odd to be doing wafers for E-mu (the music synthesizer company) and companies subject to export controls on the same production line.
It’s funny you should mention that, b/c some people thought making a pizza was a lot like making silicone chips, and decided they could dual-use the oven technology for chips back to the pizza business to cook pizzas faster and more evenly 😉

It is very very basic. There are only two forms of government.
1,. A government BY the people formed to protect the RIGHTS of the individual no matter how weak or poor.
2. A government FOR the Elite formed to exploit and enslave the general population for the EXCLUSIVE benefit of the chosen few.
The USA has been transformed into a government FOR the Elite with a window dressing to prevent the serfs from revolting.
And that is the key difference. Arguments over whether this is a “Democracy” vs “republic” utterly miss the real point. That argument is a trap too many of us gleefully jump right into, because it takes our focus off the question of what the purpose of government ought to be and puts it on the form it shall take. A leftist will gladly argue over that; they don’t care what form it takes so long as they can put their people in and hijack its purpose.
And the argument is even more pointless, because the concepts “republic” and “democracy” aren’t disjoint. It’s possible to be one, or the other, or both or neither. And as it happens, we are both. And so was Rome, which our Founding Fathers looked to as the example to be improved on.
A republic is simply “not a monarchy.” Even a “constitutional republic” merely means a “not a monarchy, with a constitution.” Guess what…that doesn’t just describe us, it describes the USSR, which had a constitution. Most countries today are “republics” and most of those “republics” are shitholes. Clearly there’s some distinction that’s more meaningful than just “republic,” and of course you’ve identified it.
There’s nothing about the concept “republic” that says WHY it exists, what its PURPOSE is, and a republic can certainly be antithetical to protecting the rights of the people, contra the impression some seem to have that a republic necessarily does do so.
“Democracy” means rule by the people; it doesn’t necessarily mean that they do everything with a majority vote (though that’s how it did roll in ancient Athens). In point of fact, that is what we have, albeit indirectly. “But wait, the Constitution forbids the government from doing certain things, so that’s better than a democracy.” And yet the people elect the national legislature and the state ones, and thus have the power to alter or even abolish those constraints via constitutional amendment. Ultimately, the people are sovereign, and if they ever wanted an Athenian style democracy with no bill of rights…they’d get it, without violence.
There’s nothing about a democracy that says WHY it exists, what its PURPOSE is, and it isn’t necessarily antithetical to protecting the rights of the people, contrary to the impression some have that a democracy necessarily is that way.
The KEY thing is that when our government was constructed, the INTENT was that it serve to protect the rights of the people. The Constitution was the framers’ best effort at setting up a system that would do this and hopefully not decay into some form of tyranny…they picked a republic not just organized according to, but constrained by, a constitution, and they did place ultimate power in the hands of the people, which means it has aspects of a democracy too.

But it’s important to keep our eye on the ball–which is to keep in mind that the proper purpose of our government is to protect the rights of the people. If we can invent a system that does the job better than our current constitution, we should work to implement it. (I’m not saying we have…this is a hypothetical.) That’s consistent with the Declaration of Independence, where we assert the right to alter or abolish a government that has ceased to serve the only proper purpose a government can have.

Likely a combination of domestic and international concerns.

As sickened as we all are at the tactics of the left, and as blatant as it is that they are pulling the strings of an indoctrinated electorate, we have to learn to take advantage of every crisis and seek the Lord for direction in turning every one of them for good.
The current crisis is predictable in that the left is capitalizing on a tragedy to foment civil unrest and turn the black vote back into a Democrat stronghold.
The problem is, there has been a lack of love in our response. We have been horrified by the escalating violence, the further loss of lives, and the destruction of our country. Yet a single story of incredible suffering has captured the heart of the public. We need to bring the stories of the rest of the victims to the public’s eye, while acknowledging the cruelty of the treatment of George Floyd.
I have written the President, because we need his leadership and voice in healing our country.
Our justice system is flawed and that needs a coming together of leadership from all sides in creating standards of fair treatment for all individuals. Police brutality is a threat to all of us…including the police themselves and the rule if law in our country.
We have to understand that every instance of white on black cruelty can cause people of all races to believe that skin color is the issue…and it must never be. (I personally believe that privilege belongs to the wealthy no matter the skin color, but then that had been something I have personally dealt with).
The President’s vision of wholeness and beauty, recreated infrastructure and abundant jobs for the black community must be put on display and contrasted with the desolation, tyranny, and destruction of Democrat rule as well as the evidence of their hate
Love conquers all.
Every one of us can be voices of love and advocacy for the President in some level of outreach to the shattered people viewing this current crisis as the collapse of their hopes for a better future in this country under the leadership of our truly loving and great President. The truth will surely set us all free. We just have to make sure that the truth can be heard and penetrate the curtain of lies.

Some looked on puzzled while others grew concerned when a group of propeller planes circled the Statue of Liberty before dusk Wednesday pulling banners that said: “Congratulations to federal state of new China!” in English and Chinese.
What was it about?
The stunt was organized by fugitive Chinese billionaire businessman Miles Guo and former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon.
In a live stream from a boat in New York Harbor on the anniversary of the 1989 anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, Guo said that “from today the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) will no longer be the lawful government of China.”
Bannon, meanwhile, said a renegade organization that calls itself the “Rule of Law Movement” aims to “rid the Chinese Communist Party of its dictatorship over the Chinese people” and replace it Western law such as is in Great Britain and the United States.
Witnesses counted at least eight dozen planes circling Lady Liberty behind both men for nearly 45 minutes. The banners bore stars in the form of the nuclear symbol along with their message.
“The elimination of the Chinese Community Party is essential…to bring peace to the international community and all mankind,” Bannon said while reading a “Declaration of the New Federal State of China.”
Bannon, who left the White House in 2017 after a falling out with President Trump, called the CCP “a gangster organization with no legitimacy” that has killed its own people and “unleashed” the coronavirus on the world while “covering up the truth and spreading the virus to 180 nations worldwide.”
China’s totalitarian rule has caused “horrific atrocities,” “trampled over democracy” and “exported corruption across the entire globe,” Bannon added.
Besides oppressing its own people, he said, the Chinese Community Party threatens the security and primacy of the West.
Chinese citizens throughout the world contributed to the declaration over the past six months, said Bannon, who’s broadcast a radio show critical of the CCP from Guo’s Manhattan apartment.
He predicted that 90 nations on Thursday would join the movement to de-legitimize the CCP.
A conservative documentary filmmaker who spent time as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs, Bannon was executive chairman of Breitbart News for four years before running Trump’s successful 2016 presidential campaign.
He more recently has been working closely with Guo, who is being sought by Beijing for extradition from the United States on charges of money laundering, bribery and rape.
Wednesday’s declaration marked “the turning point for the necessary steps in terminating the Chinese Communist Party by justice and rule of law,” Guo said.
“The CCP is condemned and doomed because of their infiltration of the coronavirus to the world, because of their manipulation of terrors messing up the United States, and because of their killing, raping and sodomizing tens of thousands of young protesters in Hong Kong,” he said.
“The ANTIFAan American terrorist group, operated by The Communist International, is working along with the CCP, carrying out a series of attacks in the past couple of days to mess up the United States and the West,” said Guo, who fled China in 2014.
“While the CCP-virus pandemic is still spreading around the world, CCP is coordinating its allies from Africa, the Middle East, to certain Northern European countries, especially North Korea, Cuba to create troubles for the United States, aiming to make the United States and Europe kowtow to it to solve the ‘problem’,” he said.
“President Trump will crash the ANTIFA riots in the following days, and no one can mess up the United States.”
Guo owns G News, a website that earlier this year published fake news bout the CCP creating COVID-19 in a laboratory. Although false, the story had more than 19,000 tweets and 18,000 Facebook engagements before PolitiFact shot it down.
G News is best known for an unfounded story that the coronavirus was stolen from a lab in Canada.

It isnt policy TO kneel. It is apparently within their use of force Department policy as a tool IF you have had the CORRECT training. Their policy will state what that training is specifically, how frequently its to be reevaluated if at all, and should state when its to be used and exemptions.
If that comes out in court, he’s found not guilty, and now there is reason for more rioting.
