There’s a youtube channel of a youngster who grew up with hip-hop who is doing reaction takes of “first listens” to 70’s-ish hits. The one with Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight” is quite amusing, because he’s clearly being lulled into this “bullshit boring whitebread ethereal crap” reaction for three minutes into a four-and-a-half-minute song…..and then Phil brings the drums.
He also does one with Boston’s “More Than A Feeling” where his first reaction is, “this is nice and mellow” during the acoustic part — followed by, “that’s intense” with Scholz and Delp in full flight, then back to acoustic….
But if you look at the Rick Beato “What Makes This Song Great” analysis for Boston, you get a peek into the scary bits. Tom Scholz, lead guitar and songwriter for Boston, had a Master’s in Electrical Engineering and did all the engineering for Boston albums in his home studio. Some of the “simple” acoustic parts actually have five guitars — two acoustic (R&L), a center acoustic, a 12-string, and electric — playing the part simultaneously, but they’d been magically combined into a composite instrument that didn’t exist when early Boston was being recorded. Brad Delp, the vocalist, often triple-tracked his vocals — sometimes in unison, sometimes in harmony — always beautifully and perfectly “on” [RIP].
The original Boston album, released in 1976, required every bit of innovation Tom Scholz could bring it to sound that good. Forty years later, much of it is in the infrastructure. Everyone records and mixes digitally, so there’s no tape hiss. You can get cabinet emulators for amps or room emulators for studios. Scholz, himself, sold the “Rockman” — which was a convenient box for his favored signal train. You can even autotune voices.
But that’s one of the things that the hip-hop kid with the “new takes” is missing. He’s listening to stuff that was The First Time anyone had ever heard anything like it, and his opinion is, “wow, that sounds so up-to-date, so modern”. Scholz is one of the guys that invented “modern”.

Thanks for posting this–and yes, you didn’t stint on upload resolution though focus is a challenge when photographing at an angle to the exhibit. (Ask me how I know this.)
With one exception those coins look just awful, worn, cleaned, or both. I see pieces that wouldn’t grade Good (which doesn’t sound like it but that’s a low, low grade, 4 on a scale of 1-70).
Looking at the last picture, the second coin up from the bottom on the right jumps out at me as being in pretty good condition–it looks like the eagle’s feathers are NOT worn away, and it’s also a 20 cent piece (distinctive eagle design). I think I wrote about the 20 cent piece a few weeks ago. Presumably so is the polished and badly worn piece to its left. Anyhow that piece on the right could well be nearly uncirculated, and might not ever have been cleaned, either. Hard to tell from a photo! (Note–some of the copper pieces on the far right of the main picture might be OK too…I simply can’t see them well enough! That’s no ding on your photograph, dark brown coins typically don’t come out well.)
The coins above that row (third up) are interesting for a different reason, they’re from 1853 and there are arrows on either side of the date on the left. I know the OTHER coin is also an 1853 even though it’s the reverse side with no date, because I see remnants of the sunburst of rays behind the eagle, and that only happened during 1853. That was the year we reduced the weight of silver to below face value (and ended free coinage of silver as a consequence) to try to get silver to circulate again (it worked). I’m pretty sure I’ve alluded to that event in some of my writings, too.
I suspect someone with very little budget tried to create an interesting exhibit of distinctive coin types, a type set. He obviously cared about the 1853 sub-type in particular out of all the Liberty Seated coins he could have got. But holy smokes most of those specimens are appalling, and I’m surprised to see them in a museum display. Unless there’s some super-rare date in there–rare enough you just don’t care if it’s in bad shape because there are so few of them out there–this is just a sad set.
The paper money I am much less knowledgeable about–one looks like it might be a civil war era interest-bearing bill (from the very early days of US government experimentation with paper money), the other I suspect is a bank note, i.e., a note issued by a private bank, which was the usual practice before 1862 and came with its own challenges.

last evening I watched a brown squirrel (most here are gray, but there is a beautiful black one as well) raid my garden! I watched him eat the 2 tiny peppers that were growing (I’m guessing he’s been stealing them before!). then before I could get out there with my broom, he ate the flowers off my zucchinis! sigh
it’s been a war with wildlife this year.
Sadly, yes – sounds like they are so hungry – they will eat anything that is not plastic!

Ended up at ER of local hospital the other night (not for me, family member), some observations while there. Social distancing inside, no hand sanitizer except for one next to reception nurse. Once checked in only patient allowed to stay inside all others made to wait outside. While outside observed hospital workers sitting outside doors with no mask on also security guards taking mask off as soon as their outside. Watched ambulances arrive with someone, no mask on any EMT’s or person coming out of ambulance. EMT only put mask on patient and themselves when they get to entrance doors. EMT’s come back out later and take masks off and all climb in back of ambulance and hang out with no mask or social distancing. Makes you wonder, well I don’t wonder I know why.
Sooo stoopid to put on a mask to go through a door, then take off. Are the doors gonna catch WuFlu?? This SCAM is OVER!!!

A little known story is now playing out in my state regarding BLM.
There is a group of BLM protesters walking from Wisconsin to Washington DC and on Monday night while passing through Bedford County PA, they decided to stop and “rest” at 11:30 pm at a lot across the street from a man who apparently had a Trump flag flying outside of his house. The homeowner also owned the lot they were “resting” at for his auto repair business. The homeowner called the State Police and asked that they come and ask the BLM group to leave his property, but since this is a rural area, it can take a while for police to arrive.
After waiting so long, the homeowner went outside and told the BLM group to leave his property. After a shouting match, the homeowner fired a warning shot with his rifle. As the BLM group began to scatter, a couple more shots were fired, one from BLM and one from the homeowner. A BLM member was shot in the face with buckshot and was taken to the hospital.
During the day on Tuesday, BLM supporters on facebook doxxed the homeowner online and called for his house to be destroyed. They also wanted the homeowner charged with attempted murder. (Knowing the type of people that live in this area, if the homeowner wanted to murder the BLM member, not only would he now be dead, but he would probably be missing his head as well). Word spread throughout the community of Bedford, and by evening the streets were lined with local residents who were armed to the teeth, waiting for BLM to continue their walk to DC after leaving the hotel where they stayed overnight. As far as I know, the BLM members are still at the hotel. Police reported that a couple of shots were fired at the hotel last night, apparently as a warning.
If the rioting is going to end, it is going to be up to the people. There are more of us than them. They are vastly outnumbered.
Which is why I am wondering isn’t more this happening in the suburbs of the cities being destroyed. Isn’t there anybody to organize the people? What about a clergy person? One doesn’t need guns, but make molotov cocktails to lab at them is the rioters attack, use lasers, fireworks, and homemade gas bombs of chlorine bleach & ammonia. Where are the sheriffs and the deputies?
It’s going to get ugly and fatal before it’s over.
I forgot. Use personal vehicles as weapons to clear the streets after being warned. Vehicles 2-5 across would clear out the roaches while lobbing things at the protesters such as frozen water bottles, fire crackers, etc,to keep them from jumping onto the vehicles.

We have a coffee station upstairs on a common balcony and I decided to give the covered coffee maker a good cleaning a couple days ago. Removed the protective cover and took it into a bathroom. Had all the cleaning stuff out and started to work on it…and got up close and personal with a tree frog sitting on it. Poor thing, don’t know who was more surprised!
Happy ending for the frog…captured with a paper towel and released back where he should have been. Ambitious little thing…second story, then across the width of the balcony and up the cabinet to the coffee machine, then under the cover and up to the top of the machine. That’s determination!

These virtue-signal-coked-out whites who think they’re doing blacks a favor by getting them to defy police are true victims of communist lies. Everybody in gun training gets the same message – black, white, cop, civilian – don’t defy, freeze, obey, get your huge apology later.
Marxist “break those eggshells” #BlackLivesMatter does not care one bit if the fodder dies for the cause – it’s all good for them. Defiance of the police is all they want. It’s a sick game of pretending not to know outcomes, and deceiving others into helping gain the outcomes.
BLM can’t actually come out and say “defy the police”, so they say everything BUT that, with the pure intention of building violence through more defiance. At some point, they will say it, but not quite yet. They need more violence as cover, so extreme messages can pass.
One of the keys to the violent incidents is #BlackLivesMatter instilling Alinsky false fears in blacks. THAT is really insidious. They use the virtue coke-head whites to echo that phony message into false common knowledge, so that blacks will BOLT at the point of hand-cuffing.
Watch enough videos and you can see it – an illogical fear response that kicks in during arrest. That point is lowered even further by substance abuse – a few beers, grass at paranoia-flip levels, meth, or even chill-out fentanyl. It’s shocking how well this ploy has worked.
One way to fight this is to give subjects the sense of strong control during arrest. Hands cuffed behind the back is the big trigger, IMO. So a good approach may be to “art of the deal” subjects into a respectful ride where “popo gonna throw me in the bayou” seems IMPOSSIBLE.
This is pure psychological warfare, and countering the BLM false message that is conflating POST-DEFIANCE outcomes with PRE-DEFIANCE outcomes, fueled by Alinsky false fears pushed by a traitorous media, is how to end this stuff.
Stop the “bolt” to stop the shootings.
Wonder how these rioters get to the sites. It seems to me that could easily be a controlling aspect…if it’s chartered busses…find out who paid for them and who supplied them. If they are coming In cars/vans/trucks…put a lock wheel on them so they can’t be used to leave.
Any backpacks supplied with any weapons or supplies…confiscate them. They don’t arrive with rocks, cement, etc…there has to be a distribution area…shut it down.
In other words neuter them and then see how willing they are to be out there.

I keep hearing that, but the only sauce I ever saw was a confusingly-written story that just jumped to saying that that was the practical effect.
It doesn’t matter though–if someone PAID the national debt for us out of his pocket, a year from now we’d have a $4 trillion debt all over again. It’s piling up. We can’t spend more than we take in, regardless of the monetary system. The only difference a good monetary system would make is that it would force us to correct ourselves a lot sooner, but that just brings us back to “spending must be cut.”
What is interesting about the debt, though is that only SOME of it is “publicly held” (i.e., by people outside of the government). Some other portion of it (and I haven’t looked lately) is actually money owed to the Social Security Trust Fund. In other words one bit of the Federal Government owing another bit of the Federal Government money. Of course if the FedGov were to renege on that, it’d be admitting it can’t do Social Security at current levels, any more, without IMMEDIATELY raising some tax, somewhere (either the payroll tax or other taxes to “pay it back”).
POTUS is going to REVERSE Nixon’s action in 1972, when he took us OFF the gold standard.

SLOWLY, At least I can walk better but stairs are still murder. Looks like it may be a magnesium deficiency. I have never had a leg cramp last for days.
Leg cramps don’t diminish when you stand? When I discovered that, a whole new world opened up.
Usually I normally can walk out a cramp in a couple minutes. This mess has hung on as a cramp in three muscles since Sunday afternoon. I have been pacing the hall trying to get it to ‘release’ but although it is better it is still not normal. So I went hunting on the internet. Quinine tonic water, potassium and calcium & magnesium seem to be the main suggestions. Magnesium is the only one I do not take very much of if any at all. Magnesium oxide (what I have on hand) doesn’t absorb well so I asked hubby to get some magnesium glycinate.
Hope you get relief soon.
I will be working — a lot of walking — on Saturday and Sunday and that is my main concern. I need to be at least at 80% by then. Otherwise I wouldn’t worry much. I have been athletic all my life so cramps, scraps and bruises are normal for me.

Great point. Also, one can retweet the person who gets something in their feed, then quote-tweet the source tweet with their own spin to double the effect. One can hat tip anyway, but IMO the retweet is sufficient grace.
The problem with bare retweets and even new quote tweets is that Twitter knows enough to keep things penned up, which is how they stop things from spreading. Even the bare URL of the original source will get stiff-armed if too many of the “wrong people” give it lift.
There are tricks to get around, but they’re not as simple as a click.
In my case I will often archive off line stuff of interest to me but not always include the whole comment plus name. Then months or years later I want to use it.
Some time I can take a quote and find the person but with google playing games, often that is not the case.
Part of the problem was I just did not have the ‘room’ on my old computer that always wanted to lock or crash.

AB3262 will only help to close their doors permanently.
This is because AB3262 strangleholds digital marketplaces by holding websites strictly liable for any harm caused by a listed product. This is kind of like holding the Mall of America liable for a pair of shoes sold by Macy’s. So, if you try to sell a car in the digital LA Times classifieds, regardless of how safe you believe your vehicle to be, the LA Times likely won’t take the risk of being responsible for any car malfunctions.

My county Election Supervisor has stated that she is recommending vote by mail for our county! Our Commissioners can protest, but they have “softened” the article stated, due to other counties in the state going this way. We are CONSERVATIVE here, but this is HAPPENING!
I have written emails to all Commissioners. I can go to the Courthouse tomorrow, but I doubt I can go in without a mask. I don;t know who else to call, they are the last line of defense. NO ONE seems to be taking this seriously.
WHERE IS OUR PRESIDENT? This is going to happen nationwide, and it appears nothing will be done. HE WILL LOSE IF IT ISN’T STOPPED.

I haven’t followed the Kenosha shooting too closely (too focused on hurricane news), but believe it’s no coincidence at all that the named storm prior to Hurricane Laura was Tropical Storm Kyle. The cabal has desperately wanted/needed the Right to take the bait to the point where I don’t put it past them to straight up manufacture an incident in order to move the agenda along. To me, the whole thing stinks.

The “jump the shark” moment for me was when someone found footage of the shooter in the front row of a Trump rally. How very convenient for the propagandists trying to provoke a war.
From the video that I saw, it looked like a clean shoot, pure self-defense.

Cold, unbending, self-discipllined resolve must be our mental attitude and mindset. Not fear. Not doubt. No wavering. No second guessing. We push forward, no matter what is thrown at us. We push through the darkness without flinching, knowing that we don’t win a war by dying for our cause, we win it by making those who stand in our way die for THEIR cause if they won’t surrender.
We know that peace is the prize, and the faster we eliminate the enemy…however distasteful the job is…the faster we get to the peace on the other side.
Resolution. Confidence. Courage. Commitment. Belief.
Fear? None. Ain’t nobody got time for that on our side. Fear only extends the misery.
Outstanding that someone finally defended himself, instead of us all witnessing another helpless patriot get a beat-down (or worse) from these animals.
If every Patriot did what that young man did, we wouldn’t be in this mess.
If the state and local government (not to mention the DOJ and FIB) has taught us anything, it’s that we can’t count on the government for anything (at least anything good).
