I understand what Thomas was trying to say, but he’s wrong in every logical sense. His entire premise about the purpose of the gun is wrong.
Tragically wrong.
Catastrophically wrong.
To the point of hilarity.
And Thomas is not stupid.
And Thomas is a military historian, though you don’t have to be a military historian to understand that guns work, regardless of the ‘attitude’ of the target, or else the gun isn’t being used properly in the first place.
Which means Thomas is gaslighting us, literally. He is attempting to cause us to doubt our own perception of reality.
And I won’t play along, whether it’s the enemy doing it, or somebody on our side, because it’s endorsing madness. Insanity.

Guns work just as well on insane people as they do on sane people. You put enough holes (or one hole in a critical area) in an insane person, he dies, just like everybody else. Guns work.
And that’s an important thing, because 99 times out of 100, if you have to use a gun to defend yourself, the person causing you to defend yourself isn’t thinking rationally.
The supposed reason for the military wanting to develop a sidearm with more stopping power, which ended up being the Browning M1911 (so named for the year of it’s introduction, i.e., 1911, and still very popular today), a .45 ACP pistol, was because our soldiers were being charged by enemy who didn’t care if they were going to die.
Despite all the arguments today about ‘stopping power’ of various calibers, the .45 ACP round did a better job of stopping the enemy than a .38.
The rationality or ‘sanity’ of the enemy was only a consideration insofar as a bigger bullet was desired to poke a bigger hole in the enemy so he would bleed out quicker so he would stop charging toward our troops.
If guns worked against banzai berserkers in the Philippine-American War, they will absolutely work on low testosterone basement-dwelling panti-fa soy boys.

Maybe they do, or maybe they know we’re “a-feared” of just such an event, and so they use that to push and push and push the envelope until we all give up. That’s the danger of letting the enemy get inside your head, it allows him to win without even putting up a fight, because you’re afraid if you fight, he’ll win.
Sometimes you have to look past the double and triple think, the analysis paralysis, and just ACT.
The 2nd Amendment isn’t going anywhere, because it would require an AMENDMENT to the Constitution to remove it, and that means it has to be ratified by 2/3rds of the States, and that’s never going to happen without a war, because every sane person knows that disarming the People is the last step before enslavement.
This constant fear of ever doing anything, because we can imagine a thousand ways how it could go wrong, and so we do NOTHING, is exactly how the enemy wins without us ever putting up a fight.

And every professional trainer I have ever read or learned from strongly cautions against EVER firing a warning shot. It’s self-defense 101.
A) shooting a gun inside city limits is a crime almost everywhere unless it is in self-defense, and if you’re shooting into the air, that is de facto evidence your life was not really in danger
B) shooting a gun in the air expends valuable ammo
C) bullets shot into the air have to come down somewhere, and if you hit an unintended target, you are still accountable and responsible for the injury or death
D) if shots are exchanged and someone dies, and you bullet can’t be found, and the bullet that killed the perp can’t be found, how are you going to prove the lethal shot wasn’t yours?
E) how are you going to judge the sanity of a perpetrator during the commission of a crime?
Massad Ayoob and other trainers have lots more reasons not to fire warning shots, but five is a good start.

Thugs don’t need to have respect for the consequences, the bullet doesn’t care, it puts a hole in the perpetrator whether he has ‘respect’ for the consequences or not.
It WORKS!
If the point is that thugs don’t fear the PRESENCE of a gun, who cares? That’s not what a gun is for in the first place. It’s against the law almost EVERYWHERE to ‘brandish’ a firearm.
You don’t draw your firearm unless you are in immediate danger, and if you draw you better have lawful reason to shoot, and if you shoot, the bullet (and the law) doesn’t give a flying *&^% whether the target is sane or not.

This is not a matter of etiquette and politeness, and street criminals have NEVER been ‘sane’ in the way described above.
Under duress, many people don’t even HEAR the officer’s commands, and as countless hours of police confrontation video shows, often times the officer’s give CONFLICTING COMMANDS anyway, and mistakes are made because everyone’s adrenaline is through the roof.
Or the bad guy is on drugs (extremely often), or drunk, or deranged, or a cold-blooded psychopath, or desperate to the point of being willing to risk his life for one reason or another.
Guns work against ALL of those people, not just soccer moms who mind their p’s and q’s!

And what I am saying is that nobody should be “waving” a gun around in the first place, that is AGAINST THE LAW and extremely dangerous. It’s a good way to get yourself killed. That has everything to do with the person who has the gun, and nothing to do with the so-called ‘insane’ people.
This isn’t a black & white TV western from the 1960s, with people waving guns around as if that’s going to restore order. There is a fundamental detachment from reality here.
The purpose of the gun is to defend your life.
Not to ‘scare’ anybody, NOT to order anybody around, you don’t have any right to do that. Your right is specifically to defend your life or the lives of others, not to play Wyatt Earp or Matt Dillon or Detective Joe Friday and wave your gun around at people, THAT’S insane!
But if somebody is coming at you with a gun, like that panti-fa creep came at that boy, or a deadly weapon (skateboard to the head), etc., you have every right to defend yourself.
And as everyone saw plainly, the bullets worked just fine, even on the “insane” panti-fa people. The evidence of this is that the boy survived, while two of the three perpetrators did not, and the third retired from the confrontation with an arm injury.
The boy’s gun WORKED.
Yet Thomas (and others) are insanely gaslighting everyone, shouting “GUNS DON’T WORK!”.
Guns DO work if they are used as designed. The math is the same as it has always been, and guns work today the same as they always have.
The ONLY thing that has changed is that Thomas (and now others) have, for reasons unknown and unarticulated, have somehow reached a new conclusion.

The guy at the store didn’t lose because it was the gun’s fault. If he had shot the people that were attacking him, they would be injured or dead, and he wouldn’t have been beaten. That he apparently did NOT shoot them in no way proves that guns “don’t work”, it just proves that guy didn’t USE it properly.
A mob’s reaction is ALWAYS to attack the ‘other’, whether you have a gun or not.
The only reason a gun MIGHT not work is because you don’t have enough BULLETS or a high enough rate of fire.
I promise you, if you have a machine gun on a tripod, with a full box of ammo on a belt-feed, one man with a gun can take out a whole block worth of protesters. One man, one gun, HUNDREDS of people.
If all you have is a revolver, then it would be positively STUPID to take it out and start waving it around, because it could provoke an attack by multiple assailants and the assailants know you only have 5 or six shots.
But if you are being attacked, if you are going to die FOR SURE if you don’t defend yourself, then pull it if you got it. What do you have to lose? Maybe they will back off, or maybe they won’t, but if you don’t try, you’re dead anyway.
That boy was attacked by at least 4 people at once. He shot three of them, and managed to walk away. If he didn’t have that gun, and USE it, he would be dead.
The gun WORKED exactly as it was designed to work.
Even on the insane people.
That boy, being alive today, is living proof, a walking talking contradiction to Wictor’s assertion.

If the protesters are on THIS planet, then a gun will work on them just as it will on anybody else. NOT to ‘scare’ them or induce compliance, because that is NOT what a gun is for. The gun will shoot a HOLE in a protester, whether they are ‘sane’ or not. They’re not ‘magic’ beings. The bullet will go right into them, just like anybody else.
Whether the NM Civil Guard accomplished anything or not is in the eye of the beholder. It may not have been a very wise thing to do, but it certainly boosted the morale of a nation that sees nothing but kneeling and knuckling under to pigs and fascist communists.
There is tremendous VALUE to seeing SOMEBODY stand UP.
I don’t know if women can understand that. There are LOTS of things women understand that I never will, so I have to guess there must be SOME things that women simply cannot understand. Maybe this is one of them. Maybe the use of force is just so alien to women that it’s beyond their natural grasp without training. I don’t know.
The cops did nothing and that’s SHAME on them. They we’re DERELICT, and they can sleep with that on their conscience for the rest of their lives.
At least the NM Civil Guard showed up, which is a LOT more than anyone can say for the pathetic cops.

This is what a DEFENSIVE mindset does, it makes you a SLAVE who never even tries to escape. It provides the mind-numbing comfort of a THOUSAND different reasons to never do ANYTHING, and feel VIRTUOUS about doing nothing, because you didn’t let the enemy TRICK you into taking any kind of ACTION.
Never realizing that was the enemy’s objective all along…
It’s so sad it makes me want to cry.
Like watching an abused wife who won’t stop making excuses for the husband who beats her every day.
At some point, you have to STOP caring what your ABUSER might do or say, and DEAL directly with the abuser.
Or kneel down and lick the chains of your master.
Because ultimately that’s the choice. You can stand up and maybe you live, or maybe you die — but if you die, you only die once, and it’s on your feet. The other way, you die a thousand times on your knees, every day of your life.

For the love of all that is good and right, can you imagine if our troops turned tail and ran, or sank into analysis paralysis, every time the enemy spoke demoralizing words over a radio or TV broadcast?

And Thomas is too smart not to know that.

I don’t really care why, but he is factually wrong. ‘Brandishing’ a gun without the capability to USE it is incredibly dangerous, and if you put yourself in a situation where you’re counting on someone to back off because you ‘brandished’ your gun, GOOD LUCK.

Thomas likes to chastise others for not knowing how anything works, and for getting their information from TV. And then he says something like “it used to be said simply brandishing a gun prevented a crime”.
This isn’t a &^%$ing game, and the things Thomas is saying go against the professional training of every single firearms instructor I have ever seen or heard of. He is WRONG.
Wrong on the facts, wrong on the logic, wrong on the history, wrong on the premise and purpose of the firearm, wrong on the law, WRONG.
He’s wrong.
I know a lot of people follow him like he’s some kind of guru. I don’t care if he’s the Dali Lama, if he’s *&^%ing wrong then he’s &^%$ing wrong. 😂
Maybe he knows he’s wrong, and he’s conducting his own psy-op, thinking it will ‘help’ our side to stay out of trouble. I’m not crawling around inside his head to figure out his motives and intents, I’m just confronting his flat-our error.
Why he’s doing it is anyone’s guess.

There is no new thing under the sun. There aren’t statistically more people who have “lost their minds” than any other time. Mobs are emboldened to attack and always have been, the only difference now is that it’s all live-streamed on cell phones.

I agree (generally) with Thomas that there’s little point in confronting these goon squads. For one thing, they’re only tearing up their own cities. If they started tearing up mine, I’d think differently, but these idiots are just burning down their own Leftist *&^%holes.
And the REASON — because there certainly is one — that I am generally in agreement is because I have almost zero concern that what these idiots are doing is going to spread or that Trump is going to lose.
If I did, if I thought Trump was likely to lose, and this was the beginning of a violent takeover of our country, it would be a completely different ballgame.
But it’s not, so I agree with Thomas, let the loons do what they’re going to do, stay away from the protests (unless it’s a big Trump supporting rally or similar) and don’t make a mistake that could ruin your life when victory is just a couple more months away.
But that doesn’t mean I agree with Thomas’ logic or reasoning or facts, because I don’t, for all the reasons stated above.
He’s flat out wrong in all kinds of ways, according to people who are experts in the subject, which Thomas is not.
His motives may be good, his advice may even be good, but his reasoning is ghastly.
To the point that he has to know better about the things he is saying.
Which means he’s gaslighting us.
