OK – gather round.
This discussion is PRIMARILY for the GEEKS, but not exclusively. Non-geeks are welcome to comment, but I ask that you keep your comments 100% on topic – the features, functions, content and security of the new website. Our migration per se – not the long train of abuses which led to it.
This discussion will get long, and I don’t want to sort through ANY news about the election, The Steal, etc. Words of encouragement, prayer, blessing and spiritual protection are welcome, but keep them lean and mean.
This thread is 100% business.
If you’ve made prior comments on tech on other threads, that you feel are still relevant, feel free to REPOST THEM HERE. I don’t have time to do this myself.
NOW – down to business.
I have obviously rescinded my prior request that we not upload new header images – and as the first to violate that request, I invite other authors to follow suit.
Not only that, I am going to let authors begin following Flep’s latest posts, and just post all their images in the site media bucket. We have 50% left. I think that gives us plenty of time to move the site.
I REPEAT. Authors no longer need to store their images elsewhere. Use this site’s media bucket, as much as you want. This applies to ALL images – header and non-header.
I will reimpose the moratorium on new pictures when we do the final transition to the new site – not before then.
This process will be longer than expected, so I’m giving up on a SHARP transition, in favor of a SMOOTH transition.
The header image I have used on this post is a screen capture of the new site, which is actually functional right now. Here is a bigger picture of the home page.
The new site is:
https://theqtree.com
Our new site is a WordPress site much like here, except none of YOU ALL are members yet, because I have not yet approved your first comments.
If you – as a currently approved commenter on this blog – want to spin the wheels, please feel free to visit, leave a comment, and let me approve it.
There are technical reasons why I’m limiting this to currently approved posters for the moment.
I am not guaranteeing that this test site will remain, but we will see. I am hoping that what I have there now is sufficient. Obviously I haven’t even modified the “Sample Page” stuff in the corner, but no biggie.
Don’t leave any “essential information of historical import” on the new site – it may not be saved. Better to leave it on THIS THREAD, which will be saved if at all possible.
Our current theme here is called Independent Publisher 2. I ended up using this theme for The U Tree, too, because it is a great theme and people HERE love it. Sadly, that theme was “deprecated” even back then, and now it appears to be GONE from what is available to me on our new host, which is very close to or exactly “latest version” WordPress.
Instead, the new site is currently using something called Draftly.
We will deal with THEME stuff later. Right now, we need to get MIGRATION and IMPORT to work.
It is important to understand that a WordPress administrator on WordPress.com is only an ADMIN inside the WordPress framework. On this site, I have NO POWERS outside the WordPress API. I can even delete the site, as part of the API, and I can create new sites, but I have no powers outside what WordPress.com allocates to me though THEIR IMPLEMENTATION of the WordPress software.
Now – that is still a LOT of power, but it gives me only one choice in terms of exporting the old website.
Exporting our site from WordPress.com creates XML files of data – in our case an astounding 1.5 GB of XML data, broken into 8 huge XML files, between 67 MB and 388 MB. All of this was received in a ZIP archive of about 167 MB.
Note that the unpacked XML data is about the same size as our media bucket – roughly 1.5 GB.
The exported XML files include a lot of private data from our users – they will not be shared. HOWEVER, the beginning of the first one is interesting:
I am still working on importing this data via the new WordPress API – which is not exactly as described in the XML above. Things are thus not working exactly as specified in the XML above. I will be more specific in comments below – it’s an active mess.
BUT – bottom line – we have a new site up, and it will be wickedly hard for us to be deplatformed from it. Our first boats are on the shore of the New World.
Say a prayer of thanks!

A [blind] recommendation…..start with “Carpe Data” — seize the data!
The standard Linux way of looking at a blog begins with a LAMP stack — Linux, Apache (serves webpages), MySQL for the database (holds posts and comments), and PHP (software to control and coordinate the above). Joomla, Drupal, or WordPress can then be used to create a unique website.
If this were my project, I’d try to see what WordPress.com was using for their LAMP stack. I’d then see if I could extract the database into something I controlled on my new server (cutting off comments to old posts would be a good idea here as well). I’d see if there were a way to implement WordPress on MY LAMP stack, with the transferred data. Then I’d see whether I had access to the raw PHP scripts that ran my OLD blog.
Again, just throwing this out there.

I will open a new post just for geeky discussion, rather than giving you the details here. Hang on just a bit.

Can you get to the guts of the new server? If so, might be a good time to make LAMP LEMP — replace Apache with NGINX (pronounced “engine X”).
Let me get back to you on this after investigating…..
Thank you Wolf for your hard work, will be praying for you in this time of transition.
Greatly appreciated!!! <3
May the good Lord protect and guide you.
If there is financial help needed please tell us where
this
Y’know, Wolf…..if you were to hire a lawyer….let’s call him Saul for the purposes of this discussion (wouldn’t have to be one of them highfalutin’ politically connected attorneys), you could get donations that weren’t traceable to you.
We could send them to Walter “Wolf” White c/o Saul the shyster and he could deposit them in a lawyer trust fund, then transfer them to your personal account. Happens all the time. And any of ’em that had been admitted to the bar could claim attorney-client privilege against disclosing your identity.
Hahahahaha!
This is exactly why I have my rule.
NO MONEY!!! 😉
ROFL–You forgot to put a warning on your post…Teach me pick up a drink before reading a Qtree post
Let us know were to send a check!!
…and my apologies if you mentioned donations in the post, I’m a slacker and haven’t read through it yet 😉
Wolf said something about reallocating funds of his that previously went to a now obviously “government church” to supporting our freedom loving, God fearing community.
Tried to comment earlier, not sure where it is, maybe awaiting verification.
Oh, silly me, never mind. Forgot I’m not on the new blog site.
I went there as well, says in moderation. Hope I have done this correctly, being short on computer skills.
Should be out now!!!
Thanks!
Here is an interesting but annoying fact.
Our old, free, WordPress.com site (meaning this blog) does not allow installation of plugins. To do that, we have to go to the “Business Plan” – starts at $300 / year.
wolfmoon1776
I committed a couple weeks ago to helping the new site financially. Where does one send contributions?
I’m not going to speak directly for Wolf, but not accepting donations allows one to maintain a high degree of editorial independence. I doubt Wolf would accept donations – though it certainly would be his prerogative and IMO he has more than earned it . . .
That said I would put my attention for giving here:

Hi … good luck and absolutely God Bess you
Thank you WOLFM00N .. 🐗 …
Thanks! <3 Please feel free to comment on the new site and I'll see if your comment goes into notifications. I just added the "Jet Pack" plugin, which lets WordPress spy on us more easily, but is also very useful! 😀
Ohhhhh 😮👍‼️ … jet packs …. wow oh wow … sooooooooo cool 😎❤️ ….

Posted, but did not use a real email address. Same Gudthots name but a fake email address. Just to test the system.
Yup – came through with everything. WP.com changes the comment interface somewhat using default plugins – thus I’m using the old standard comment page which is interesting and shows more. Still wish I know where “likes” come from in standard WP.com’s flavor of WordPress.
‘Still wish I know where “likes” come from in standard WP.com’s flavor of WordPress.’ The ‘likes’ are useful. Otherwise, one has to comment.
I left a comment on your test thread.
Best of luck transitioning. Sounds like a headache.
Most importantly, have a very happy Thanksgiving! Thank you for all you do for us.
Check out the new discussion plugin I just added. Has upvotes and downvotes, too. I can pull it, if people think it’s too busy, but it’s pretty slick.
Cool!
Thanks, Wolf. Will try later. 🙂
So your new stand alone site is allowing me to us my WordPress.com log-in to “like” your post, but it doesn’t know about me as a user on the site. Do I need to “register” with your stand along site?
Yes – you are being regarded by the new site as an approved commenter, like you are here, BUT HERE you have author credentials, and nobody has author credentials yet on the new site.
Okay, but I used a fake email and it seems to want me to enter those credentials every time I post?
That’s because that is the fingerprint of the commenter which I approved.
Ah, so I need to post again with the “right” email address…
And that will need to be approved by me. Then you get the cleanest federation of identity in the wordpress system!
Thanks. Done.
As for that federation of identity stuff … holding my nose and putting up with what is needed.
DAYUM! The new commenting system has EDITING OF COMMENTS!!!
🤸♀️🤸♀️🤸♀️😁😁
The promised land beckons… and we had no idea how good it could be!
I too left a comment on your test thread, Wolf. Congrats for getting it up and running so quickly.
Okay… inept person here.
I inserted my email address + password… it kicked me out
then I inserted phoenixrising37 + password… it kicked me out again
I have 2 more tries and I’m out!
HELP!
let me check….
thanks!
Same here. Bflyjesusgrl + PW and Email + PW — Both NO WORKIE WORKIE.
2 Tries left. 😪
Take a look at the new commenting system.
It wants me to login to post. I tried again, BONK! I’m down to 1. There’s a register option, I selected it, entered Username + PW, said they’d send me an email. No email…..Waiting…..😵🥴
Just COMMENT – don’t log in! I think that’s the secret!
Nope. Wants name, email and website.
OK, tried
bflyjesusgrl
bflyjesusgrl@wordpress.com
Now in moderation!! YAY!!!
T3 is right
It needs your user name AND ‘any’ email address. Email does NOT have to be valid.
* by name and *by email means enter something!
Something’s weird. I replied to you over there, now it’s waiting for approval?? Maybe cause I changed my user name by adding emojis??
Yup. WordPress approved commenters are based on name and email.
Do you have to add us? Or just wait til we comment and approve?
I have to approve the first post of any unique name/email/etc. who comments – but people who “subscribe” to the new site are automatically added to the list of official “Users”.
Subscribe…from where?
Somehow you are subscribed to the new site. I’m still trying to figure out how. just hang on a bit and I think I can get this fixed.
K.
May the Force be With You!! 🤞🙏
Butterfly, you don’t have to “login” – Wolfie told me to just comment, and I did. You make your comment at the top of the page… where you type in your handle and then below your email addy that you used at the QTree, and it POSTS, with note that it is awaiting moderation. My avatar didn’t come up yet, nor the notification bar etc, but I think that comes later
Try it, you’ll get in I’m sure
It looks great Wolfie…
I can’t believe how quickly you got it up and running!
And an EDIT button!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WAHOO!!!!!!!!!
PR, did you get signed it? If so, HOW??
Not yet… Wolfie said he was going to check it out…
You and I are not on the lifeboat yet…but the water is only above our ankles, we’ll be fine! 😉
Don’t use the “Log In” – that is NOT WordPress.com’s login – that is the new hosted site! Just comment, and then the WordPress commenting system (via JetPack) connects you to their world and your account there!
ohh… okay… thanks
When I got “approved”, I got an email telling me. Can that get shut off, please?
I think if you are a subscriber to the blog, you can control that, but let me check with others here before turning it off for everybody.
One of the characteristics of this sort of project is that you’ll inevitably have a long list of requests and comments to respond to. It helps to keep them on a whiteboard, but only work on the most important ones. Since they’re all on the whiteboard, you’ll probably trip over some of the solutions while working on your most important tasks, so it’s good to keep them visible, but you can easily get spun out of productivity if you can’t push them aside.
Okay, Wolf, your experience isn’t quite the same as others. You are getting the black stripe at the top for both sites and the bell notifier. At least for Steve and I, we are not getting either.
On the WQTH.wp.com the header stripe is there AND the bell is at the far right.
On theqtree.com they are not there.
AND the WQTH bell notifier is NOT notifying for events on the new site.
I’m going to consider that a feature, not a bug, since I’m not interested in the new site reporting everything back to the mothership.
Well, it’s not showing YOU what JetPack observes and sends back, but it IS sending it back. If we want to cut off WordPress.com, we have to ditch JetPack, IMHO, and I think we might, but JetPack does add some features. I will look closer at it.
Yeah, JetPack is a feature rich convenience that comes preloaded with “phone home” capabilities.
Okay, this is making sense to me. The black stripe at top is not going to display for us UNTIL we have a registered account with YOUR site’s database.
Your site is a NEW instance of the WP software and we are NOT members yet.
OK, but how do you register over there? I’ve seen a login screen, but not any way to register.
Whatever you did worked! You’re now a subscriber, and I can make you an author, too.
Never mind, found it…way down near the bottom of the right hand column.
Exactly. But the new blog IS running JetPack, which is a package of “WP.org’s best plugins” as subsumed and monetized by WP.com, so that the can make all their blogs run at a minumum standard, etc., AND share notifications.
Without some way to know that people have responded to a comment of mine three pages back, the site will be, basically, unusable. I agree though whatever it is should be disconnected from WussPus.
You are now listed as a subscriber! What did you do?
I did nothing other than register.
Can you explain what that is? Obviously I’ve never seen it. I never even knew there was such a thing as registering. Is that the same as commenting?
Go down to the bottom of the right hand side, there’s a link to log in and to register.
I think you need to register before you can truly log i n.
In any case going through that donkey derby got me my black bar and notifier (which looks like a cartoon “speech bubble”)
It is showing me wqth comments, in fact that’s how I am responding to this right now.
I just made you and bakocarl authors, too!
Cool. I can see the comment list including two unapproved, but it won’t let me approve them (consistent with my not being the author of the article.) Shebythesea and HuskerHeart.
Good! Yes, I approved them just now!!!
It appears I must be approved again now that I am registered.
Check for some kind of approval email – WP.com forces those emails to be checked.
OK…and yes, over on the dashboard ONLY those two comments are listed as “mine”. It doesn’t connect me with the original me who wasn’t registered. So that’s confirmed; registering creates a new “person.”
Are you considering requiring people to register?
Not sure. I could do that, or maybe we can just request it for people who comment regularly (and who need the notifier!)
It’s probably a minor thing but may be worth noting to people; if they don’t register they won’t get the notifier, if they do register, they will not be able to see their old comments in any list of comments they made. (So register ASAP if so inclined.)
Followed the instructions for creating a user and password. Must have worked because it shows me as logged in as pgroup. But that’s it.
No box to type a comment; just a white space and the word ‘loading…’ Also, left button mouse click on ‘reply’ does nothing.
Oh well …
Do you have your browser set to allow all cookies?
Using Chrome default install on xp o/s. If it comes with cookies allowed, then that’s what it is.
There should be a shield type icon on the top bar that will get you to the privacy settings.
He, pgroup – you registered with your real name on it (I think) somehow – do you want me to remove that? I’m not 100% certain it won’t display.
I wish to be treated like you treat all others. I must be tired but this ‘first time on a new site’ crap never seems to be intuitive and never seems to work for me.
At a certain point, admin is probably going to have to fix my crap. Until then, I’m ghosting.
Things look OK. I removed the name – it MAY make your next post on the new site go into moderation, but I will de-bin you a.s.a.p.
Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving!
wolf I posted on the new site. Said waiting for approval.
I used my email I used to sign up at WP but the Yahoo account will not let me access it. Do I need to use another email I regular use? I think the Yahoo one expired or something because I never look at it since i only use it to sign into blogs.
Still not sure how this is working, but you should be approved now!
Yes it looks like it. Thank you.
When I sign into WP in I have to use the Yahoo email account but if they send me something I will not able to get it. I might just eventually use my live email account.
Is anyone going to KAG?
There is no T-day open thread.
It’s up now.
It’s there now.
Thanks to Steve……
“Registering” on the new site gave me the “Notification”….. uh, bubble (Not a Bell)
I actually have TWO accounts registered for you, with different emails. Keep both?
uh …. just the foxtrot one 🙂
I hope that will still work
Looks like it is all good.
Thanks
I previously left this at the new site, but Wolf requested it to go here (I think, for certain values of $here).
Numbered comments, and the format of datestamps (e.g. “11/25/20 23:31” or “10 hours ago” should be in a file named comments.php as per https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/release/required-theme-files/
If you can access this on the old site and compare it to the new site, it should be easy to make changes. If you can’t access this on the old site, but can on the new site, you can dump the file offline and see if you can find the relevant part (or dump it here and we’ll look) then try to figure out how it needs to be changed.
Reply
I need it here b/c the new site is likely to be REBOOTED!!! 😀
Works for me! (Especially if you LEMP it.)
“I had to approve that one, just like this one. OK. FULL STOP. I need to ask you a bunch of questions, so let’s just converse ON THE OLD SITE. Reply to this message THERE.”
___________
Hope this is the thread you wanted me to use to reply…
I cannot figure out why you’re having to approve each of my comments on the new site.
The only thing I can possibly think of…is my email address.
When you sent me an Author notification, I gave you a different email to use…because at that moment in time, I was unable to access my old email that was used to set up my WordPress account.
But I have access to it now.
It’s the email address where I get New Thread notifications for this site, since I am subscribed here.
It is also the email that the new site recognizes…and shows up when I try to subscribe there.
That second email address shouldn’t be used, though…if it’s still in the system somewhere.
OK, this works – better than the daily. Ignore that query.
The email address for me that you should use, begins with a ‘k’.
That is the one I have at BOTH sites!
Okay, good!
Then I should be getting emails from the new site…you know, the ones for subscription verification and registration.
But I’m not.
Which is weird.
I just updated your password for the new site. See if you got one delivered at your “k” email address.
Nothing yet.
It should’ve hit by now.
I know that the email is receiving emails…it got one notifying about DePat’s Daily Open when she posted it.
You know, because I am subscribed to this site.
Hey boss…why don’t we work on this later.
It’s getting late.
It’s a Holiday.
You need to get some Zzzz’s for awhile.
We can resume this trouble-shooting on Friday, okay?
How’s that?
If its a MITM attack, which I think it is, the reason we’re beating it back IS that we’re doing it right now.
Ah!
I didn’t consider that possibility.
Okay, standing by.
What do I need to do?
Try logging in with this password exactly, including spaces:
[redacted]
YES!
Got in…and got full dashboard, it looks like.
Love the password — can I keep it?
Check your email and make sure it’s correct.
Looking for it…
Everybody has your password now. I really suggest changing it, but you don’t have to change it too much to sacrifice strength! Just use it in a sentence and let that be the password!
Yeah, you’re right. Will do.
Also try making a comment on the new site so I can approve it if needed.
Done.
And looks like I still have to be approved there.
Try one more time. Usually after any change, the user requires moderation again!
Okay. Will do.
Sorry for delay…I had to go take care of something.
No problem. I’m a drill sergeant for keeping you up like this! My apologies!!!
No problem!
I am up cooking…heheh.
And success!
I didn’t get the “! Awaiting for approval.” message on the last comment at new site.
Nope. I didn’t need to approve it! I replied there, and will attempt a reply from the notifications.
And that worked. HIGH FIVE!
✋
I redacted the PW post, too, but if you can change it, please do! Remember – your site PW is different from your WordPress.com PW.
Yep, I changed it.
😌😏
Where is the place to do that, if I may ask? My version of WordPress may look different.
In ‘Profile Settings’.
Excellent! Mine is under “Profile” but different location b/c admin.
OK – I’m bailing. Good night, God bless, and have an amazing Thanksgiving! Let us be thankful and PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!!!
Happy Thanksgiving, boss!
You are one of the things I am thankful for.
😌😊
I just want to give it ONE shot which will prove or disprove MITM.
And Bless you for doing all this!
You’ve been working hard on this for days!
A long-time and very valued commenter was inadvertently doxxed in one comment on the new test page. Wolf may want to fix this. It’s very near the matrix.
I thought I fixed that. Is there another?
AH – it WAS a different case! FIXED.
Got it!!! 🙂
Yep. Right. Got that
very cool, Wolf !
just posted a test Comment at new site…
thanks for all your hard work there and everywhere.
bookmarked this Thread.
(second attempt with this Comment)
Wolf is having to manually approve the 1st comment that everyone makes there.
I think he’s away for now…but if you don’t see your comment there, it’s probably awaiting ‘approval’.
yes, thanks wheatie…
have an enjoyable Thanksgiving.
You too, Smiley!
Good – hopefully I got it approved over there.
yes…rec’d notification…thank you
Visual geek here.
Is it possible to make the type in comments black in stead of gray? Harder to read for long period in gray.
Also, it is a sans-serif font, which is harder to read, too. Standard Times Roman is easier.
I commented there earlier, but I can’t find the comment now. Did you approve one for me? I will try again now.
I don’t have the “black bar” at the top of the page yet. Should I, or will that come later?
Thank you so much for all your hard work! This is a lot.
Aubergine, you don’t get the black bar until you register. Go to the column in the right. At the bottom is a link to register.
I filled out registration but cannot tell if it worked. I think I will not be able to see the black bar or anything visual besides text. Is there a way for me to tell?
Oh wow, Zoe. I don’t know if you would be able to see the black bar, as it is a graphic.
No, Linda, I could not see anything, only text. Thank you for your concern.
Personally, I don’t like that black bar. It messes up the nice, clean, simple theme without adding much of significance. So I don’t think you’re missing much.
It has some content which should appear in a reader device as a banner or a menu.
Thank you! Doing it NOW!
I just upgraded you to Author status on the new site – you may end up in moderation again. Don’t worry – just wait for me to approve – you’ll get a reply from me at that point – then you can keep on posting.
Cool, thanks!
Testing – to see if I can post – Hi, everyone!!!
Hi Duchess,
Here is where to register on the new site: https://www.theqtree.com/wp-login.php?action=register
Do NOT use your real name!
Just use your name and email address from this site. 🙂
Thanks, T3 – I think I got in ok – have to check, again – God Bless Your Sweet Heart!!!
Wolf, I’ve been searching for options for twister embedding and I found a stand alone site for converting twister urls into images… https://tweetcyborg.com/
If this is possible (using the TW API), then something more useful is possible as well.
In my search I found lots of support sites with questions from people using the TW API to scrape info from tweets. I don’t know why it is so hard to simply locate WP plugins that allow you to defang TW output and just render text + links to images/videos/etc.
Yeah, I could get into tinkering with plugins at some point, but first I really need to get this site up and running.
Should be soon. I should have some more progress on migration tomorrow / “today”!!! 😀
Happy your Feasting was not hampered by your Nerding!
No – more like the opposite! But it all worked out. I got a lucky break after laying off the geek work for a while. “Clear head” and all that!!! 😀
I do my best thinking while working with my hands.
BTW, if there is a side research task I can help with let me know. These days, it’s a nice break off my feet at the computer for while.
I’ll keep that in mind! 😎
Wolfie, I don’t see how to register at your new site. i see the posts, and where to comment – but then it shows my email address. Don’t want that.
When you register on the new site, I don’t see any more than what WordPress and I already see, which includes your email address.
You can register for comments by commenting, or better you can go to the homepage of the new site using the link Gudthots provided. Don’t provide your name – that is not needed, and I will just remove it anyway. But by providing ME with your email address (which I already have through THIS WordPress.com account), it authenticates you as you in the WordPress.com system, which we allow to provide notifications via JetPack.
Confusing, but the bottom line is that by registering, you are using your email to check in as YOU and be blessed as YOU by both me and WordPress, so you go straight into blog membership and can be upgraded to authorship immediately. Upon upgrade, you will be moderated for one post, which it does after any change of status or user data.
Ok, I’ll work on it later. Sort of get it. In Penguin’s world these things can be a challenge. 🙂
Hey, I’m an actual retired GEEK and multi-year experienced WordPress administrator, and it’s challenging to me, too!!! 😀
All I want to do is make a HEART EMOTICON on the new platform!!! 😉 <3
I haven’t been able to figure out any emoticons in EITHER place beyond the really old ones like 🙂 😉 and :D.
And I guess 😀 won’t work with a period after it! 😀 .
Turns out there is an add-on package for this system that includes emoticons – for a price. We’ll see……..
Don’t do it on my account!
Yeah, and if I do it, it will allow embedded Tweets. Not sure I want that.
Of course the problem with not allowing embedded tweets is, in order to understand why someone is posting a tweet, you have to open the damn thing up anyway half of the time, because it’s a reply to someone and you can’t even tell who the reply is TO, much less what they said that’s being replied to.
Ok, Wolfie, I left a comment in the Thanksgiving post on your new site. I have no idea what my WP email addy is – signed up over 10 yrs ago. So there is an email that shows below the comment box. That’s fine. Begins with “C”.
My comment says waiting moderation.
T3 had left me a link to register, but that didn’t work out because it said my user name was already taken!
I’m so confused. Hopefully, what you have from me on the new site will work. Tell me if we need to do something different.
Thanks.
Yes, don’t register – just LOG IN. You have an IMPORTED AUTHOR ACCOUNT. Your user name is your display name here. Your email is a gmail address and contains numerics – hope that’s enough to reminds you, too. Just use the WordPress.com password. It will go into moderation – I will OK it – then you’re in.
Ok, I know what gmail acct we’re talking about. That’s fine. Have no idea what my WP PW is – haven’t logged out in yrs. might be able to find it.
Since I’m already in – wouldn’t need the PW would i?
Let me give you one, and you can then change it in your profile on the site. Hang on……
OK,
PW given. Ask me any questions you need.
Here is your new password:
Enjoy some tasty Kraken!
That includes spaces. Just log in with that and username ladypenquin as the user name, using the login facility, and have it remember you. Then go change your password and log back in with that one.
Wolfie, I am so confused. I got your email, and went in and changed the PW – never saw this. So is there a problem?
OK – wait- did you get an email about the password change? Please explain.
Yes! and I looked in notifications -the bell – and didn’t see your comment. So i went in and changed the PW. Obviously, I’ve changed my pw to my Word Press acct. Is that going to work for your site.
Yes! Now just log in with that WP password which you changed it to (which I cannot see) and it should work fine for this site, too.
Ok. I’ll try that.
You’re now an Author, too, so you’re welcome to play with that.
Wolf! It did not let me log in! I don’t know why. I used LadyPenquin and my new pw.
Tried twice. Only have 2 times remaining. What is the problem???
Don’t use capital letters! The system is sensitive.
ladypenquin
password
Remember I can reset if there is a problem.
No luck. used ladypenquin – the PW I have has a capital letter, and numbers – is that problem. one try left before reset. I don’t understand what’s happened. I hope my WP acct isn’t messed up.
Why don’t you just lay off for a while? I’m importing posts right now. We’ll try again later. I want to investigate more fully with other people. Nobody is having problems like this.
Ok. That’s fine. I have no idea why. Maybe I should have refreshed the login before trying again.
We’ll figure it out. The new site obviously isn’t ready for prime time, but we’ll figure it out. I have 3 of the 8 import files done now!
Sorry to be so much trouble. I don’t get it either, except maybe I needed to refresh before trying again. But will give it a shot tomorrow. I checked my access to Unified Patriots, and that let me in. So haven’t lost everything.
Ok, Wolfie, here’s another puzzle. Your approval to my comment came into the email addy that does NOT have the numbers, same lettering. And if you’ll notice I had uppercase in my LadyPenquin in the comment at your site.
So, it’s clear that we don’t know if it’s the email addy my login isn’t recognizing or my user name letter usage.
I haven’t tried again, because when I saw your approval come into the what I thought was my originial WP email addy, I have no idea which way to go.
Oh, and the email with the numbers is the one that brings me notifications from the original Qtree site, and that’s where your notification of the password reset was sent. But the approval – that’s in the other email addy which I didn’t see until today. I don’t always look in on that addy.
I’m going to CHANGE the user on the new site (no numbers email, no caps username) to WITH NUMBERS and WITH CAPS. Let’s see what that does! Hang on – You should get an email when I’m done.
OK – here is what I decided to do. The user who is an author on the new site is the SAME as the one on WordPress – ladypenquin in lowercase and the email with numerals. I want to leave that the same. THIS SITE just sent you an email with a link to a new PW. Change that to the same PW as WordPress (I can’t see it) and things should sync.
I’ll try in the AM. The only email I’ve received tonight is one “confirming my PW was changed on the Qtree.’ Do I use the one I set up the other night? Will try in the morning.
