Part of the reason I am so giddy at her return is that flesh-eating bacteria scares the s*** out of me. It’s up there with Ebola.

Great advice on vitamin D. I can’t remember where I read it, but some European country gave it to all their people and their mortality rate, even for those with co-morbidities, went way down. Maybe that’s why I didn’t get terribly sick when I had covid. I’ve always taken vitamin D. But I live in Oregon, where it rains a lot, so I know I don’t get enough sun year around.
When I was in, IIRC, Junior High School (70’s), there was a series of posters put out by the Oregon State Bureau of something-or-other and specifically shipped to California schools.
One had a guy under an umbrella in the rain with his hand sticking out to feel it. The caption said, “You can always tell when it’s summer in Oregon…..the rain feels warmer.”

I work at home, so I strive to get outside every day the sun is out at midday from April-September. The years I do that, I have less in the way of bugs.
Best to get a blood test to find out where your levels are. I CAN’T get enough sun to keep mine high enough, no matter how much I am outside. Some people don’t manufacture vitamin D in high enough amounts.

The day he was picked up from the breeder he was about five months old, and he smelled to cigarette smoke. He was also terrified, and we didn’t realize just how bad the separation anxiety was. Since then, he has not been left alone, even if it was just Ying with him.
The last two years, maybe a little longer, he’s not been well at all, and on Monday the vet was surprised he was still alive. All blood and glucose numbers are awful. He has diabetic cataracts, and can barely see and then only out of one eye. But, he’s still climbing steps, and eating and drinking water, even if it’s bacon and steak. So, when he’s ready, we’ll help him.
Poor little dude.
He’s been a very fortunate pooch, to have fallen-in with people who so treasure him. It will be a sad day when you say goodbye, but would be more sad if kept on past his time.
All-in-all, he’s a rich little dude…..but worldly riches always come to an end.
😥 We here recently found out our 12-year-old pittie has cancer and has a short time left with us. she is still happy and active and the vet says just let her be for now. she has had a good life with us since we rescued her many moons ago. I’m sorry DP, our furry friends our such a big part of our lives.
As long as he eats, moves, and isnt incontinent he still has some fire left. At least you get a long goodbye.
And I hope your rainbow bridge sendoff is as peaceful as possible.

One of my neighbors has a little doggie on the way out. She can hardly see any more. Its rough to watch her fading.
Well, in his prime, Yang was a squirrel chaser, and ended up being more of a steak guardian. My dad called him a good time charlie. I’ll tell you what, he is the greatest hot water bottle for hip and back joints when he snuggles in….

Havanese. He’s the size they were before they were bred down to toy size, so he’s HUGE for that breed. Ying, his older sister, is from a different litter, but the same parents. She’s actually white with a black patch over an eye. And she has this AWFUL coat that is more like a poodle than the silky hair they are supposed to have.
I suspected. We have a neighbor with one whose coloring is lighter.
I haven’t gone into it very much here, but for long spells I have had a weird hole in my head where I could not remember human names. This plagued me throughout my career, but — like anything else — you find ways to get around it. I’ve had people who worked for me for three solid years and I couldn’t remember their name. I could remember their pets’ names, the car they drove, telephone numbers, their work habits, maybe even their social security numbers….but not people names. I can remember nics on blogs….but when introduced in person, I can’t retain their IRL names for more than seconds.
So, I couldn’t remember the name of our neighbor’s dog for quite a while, and it was really annoying……until I associated him with a vacuum cleaner.
His name is Kirby.
Still can’t remember the family’s name.
It is odd walking around your neighborhood and recognizing people as “Kati’s mom” or “Moose’s dad” or “Sage’s mom”. Somehow, I get by.
My mom bought a Kirby way back in the day & also got the “dog grooming” attachment. She tried that baby Once on my English Setter/fence jumper mix Suzie & thereafter any time she started the vacuum the dog would run for the hills–hilarious!
My parents bought a Eureka canister vac back in the day, and we had to look up what its “dog grooming” attachment was for. Needless to say, our dogs never experienced such a thing — they were outside dogs.
I don’t think there was much “grooming” for my dog either. Makes me think of the SNL version of the Flobee, the Suck & Cut–it may not cut but it sure does suck 🙂
I’ve actually been doing a lot of Flobee since haircut places closed last March….
My husband’s been cutting his hair on & off w/ clippers & once got complimented by a hairdresser for how it laid in the back. Never seen the flobee in action, does that work well?
It’s a lot better than just letting your hair grow for six months.
That said, it’s a bit peculiar. In its early stages, you have to hop it around your head to get the bulk of the hair cut. This leaves you with weird pockmarks.
Then you have to comb it through your hair to get rid of the ridges between the pockmarks.
I’m a guy, and I was looking for something basic during a crisis. I think it did well.

That’s me. I never forget a face, but names escape me.
I have a 16 year old rescue mutt. The most anxious horrid little foo-foo dog in the world. But he’s my constant companion and I’ve had him since he was a puppy.
Deaf, nearly blind and arthritic. It won’t be too much longer.
That, and I have an ancient hen who has been moping around for a month now. She just won’t let go. Sigh. They usually have more sense and exit gracefully, but not this one. She makes her way out to the north 40 every day and I have to come get her in the afternoon because she hasn’t the strength to get back to the yard. Clucks.
My next door neighbors have/had a beautiful rescued sheltie, his name .. Marty. The lady neighbor mentioned recently that he has cancer in his eye and jaw. I always listened for his barking next door when he was out in his yard. He was friend and hero to all the rabbits and baby bunnies in their yard. The lady neighbor neighbor said she looked out in the yard one day and all the baby bunnies were around him. You could tell he was sick, his bark was different. I have not heard him barking. It hurts when your precious pet is sick … I have not heard Marty barking anymore …

They’re more than just ‘pets’…they are our friends and part of our family.
In some ways, losing them is even worse than losing a human, because we share a tactile connection with them…a connection that is different from what we have with humans.
Yang is lucky to have had your love and protection.
I hope all the good memories will give you some comfort in his passing.

Not trying to sound morbid, but is there a vet where you are who will come to the home and put your doggie friend to sleep there? Might be “Covid restrictions”, like it has to be done on the porch or under a tree in the yard. Thank God that I was able to find a vet here who came to the house and put my Sona to sleep as I held him and sang to him.
Our vet will euthanize at home, but we choose not to go that route. Our last dog, the Couch Commando carried her into the office, and put her on the table and that was it. We got a sympathy card a few days later. She was a Labrador, 14, and also in renal failure.
I don’t think it’s going to be all that long. Any one of anemia, diabetes, and renal failure let alone cancer, which is suspected, would be the culprit. This little guy has taught us a lot about perserverance.

I take 10,000 i.u. of vitamin D a day in winter and 5000 per day in summer. I am 5’8″ and about 130 pounds. My blood level of D was a perfect 100 when checked last year.
People need a LOT of D in most places in the U.S. We just don’t get strong sun north of AZ and FL. Also, our ancestors were outside ALL DAY, and we are inside most of the day.
Vitamin D is important for far more than covid prevention! Please, please take at least 5000 i.u. a day, and get your blood tested yearly.

Here’s what that PAID LIAR, Pissaki, said just a day or so ago:
“The President remains committed to his pledge from the campaign that NOBODY making under $400,000 a year will have their taxes increased.”
So now, “all of a sudden”, Pissaki is sent out to “clarify” that the definition of “NOBODY” has been changed to mean ONLY TO FAMILIES. And that a SINGLE person making $200,00 and over is going to be hit by the tax hikes.
So what’s the deal here? Apparently the “clarification” has to do with a couple of things:
First, the concept of “wealthy” to Biden’s handlers now means ANYBODY making $200,00 a year or more.
Second, the “wealthy” are going to get hit the most by the tax hikes to “pay for infrastructure and other priorities”.
“other priorities” like paying for MILLIONS of illegal aliens to run across our southern border, get bused into American cities all over the country, get free medical care / “housing assistance” / “reuniting family assistance” / public education up through college.
And of course, this was the real game all along.

It’s possible that the microphone in question was being held down low below Biden’s hands and the other oddities are camera/lighting/computer artifacts.

With no money, no access to money, no access to ‘friends’ or uninvolved family, no home to retreat to, no ability to communicate without being recorded, and no ability to show their faces in public, they would all be caught or killed very quickly.
This world has become a very small place, and everything revolved around money, travel and communications. When access to all three is cut off, they’re sitting ducks. I suspect it was like everything else, the plan always branches, depending on whether the enemy ‘zigs’ or ‘zags’ at each critical juncture.
Since Pence was a traitor, they ‘zagged’, and so the plan continued the path based on Pence’s decision.

But whatever the plan is, by definition it continually branches with contingencies, and can do so much more easily than the enemy can.

It’s multiple generations, from a significant percentage of Generation X all the way to the present generation, whatever name they’re called.

Not all Christians are fatalists that perceive Creation as fixed in all it’s aspects. When I married that set a course that seems fixed. Married for life. But daily interactions, decisions along the way, cultivation of time building trust, love, hope for our future all play a part in how that unfolds. Relationships require free will and that means not all is predetermined.
Does He “want” to intervene? I imagine (so obviously personal opinion) that He often wants to do so. But often He does not although He could – esp. on a national level. If He did then He would be thwarting free will and free will is one of the key things that are being played out here on earth for better but often for worse.

And then the people would repent, but by the following generation, they were often back to wallowing in the mire of Moloch and Baal and intermarrying with the heathen and following pagan rituals and on and on and on.
Because experience is non-transferable, which is why history continually repeats itself. The people who learn the hard way can’t convey that experience to the next generation, so the next generation goes and makes the same mistakes. Like a comic tragedy on a continuous playback loop, for the entire history of the world.
It was luck of the draw. You could be lucky and be born during a generation when Israel was being led by a faithful man of God, or you could have bad luck and be born during a time when Israel turned away from God, and followed after the ways of the world.
So it’s entirely true that God is in control and He has the power to easily change everything in an instant.

True story: in GOP work, have had local people literally tell me that, No, I am not very good at it but that makes me more effective as it breaks the ice to the audience, pulls them in and actually gets them on “my” side, rooting for me. Told that to me face to face and I just smiled, took the hit and said thank you so much for sharing that with me … and thought, don’t cry as she means well and I already know I am not good in front of people so its probably true and isn’t it wonderful that my obvious failures are used for good? And yet it was still hard to take with a smile.
True story: during phone calling for President Trump, esp. in 2016 primary and summer of ’16, I would mess up the script almost every single time … even after literally 1,000s of phone calls because I was that nervous and that much of an introvert. And yet my screw ups were used again and again for good because people would say, “oh, you are a real person” (because I was obviously Not a perfect, polished recording) and good conversations would follow.
What is my point? That, yes, God is in control and yet we are to be His hands and feet and we have a role to play in Huge part because (I believe) that free will is God given and God allows human events to follow the free will choices of the people.
What else is my point? That we have a role to play and that if I, physically challenged (chronic health issues including pain, semi invalidism at times and never “healthy” with normal strength, stamina, energy, physical abilities), personality challenged, economically challanged and braverly challenged as I am, if I can do the work and make an impact … ANYONE can do it!!!! AND make a difference that will suprise you even in just a very few years.
We are His hands and feet IF we agree to be. He has a purpose and a plan for our lives – IF we make the right choices – follow His lead. We can do all through Him who strengthens us – IF we believe.
We each have a job to do – sometimes, we choose to do it – sometimes, we are urged to do it – by God. Whatever we do in whatever condition in which we find ourselves – one arm/one leg – in a wheelchair – challenged beyond our ability – He does not chose the best and the brightest to do his work – He choses the one least likely to succeed.
Whatever your calling is – you choose to do it or not – through your free will. How you accomplish what you are called to do depends upon your relationship with Him who strengthens you and guides you.
He does not choose the best adn the brightest … yep, and here I am, making a difference despite the odds health wise and despite being terrible at it! But willing to do it and willing to go and willing to work and take each next step as the doors open even though I truly, in many ways, don’t want to and wish someone else would do it.

I don’t think he has. While he was the Commander in Chief, for better or worse, we all gave him the benefit of the doubt.
But if he’s no longer the Commander in Chief, then his power is exponentially diminished.
Even so, he could still bring down the entire Cabal, just be publishing all the ‘declass’, or even ANY of it.
He never played those cards, he saved all of that leverage, and he could deploy it at any moment.

Trump could have pardoned Flynn at any time. As many times as he needed to.

Whose side are they on, anyway?
I mean, if the plan was keep everything a secret until arrests were made (that was the plan, wasn’t it?), that plan is OVER when you let the election be stolen and then choose to run away.
The very LEAST they could do, is drop the BIG ONE on their way out the door.
Publish the ‘Declass’ on everything, expose everybody, and give the American People a fighting chance.
Or, you know, just keep your mouth shut, slink out of town, and leave the American People to be devoured by the enemy.
It’s just about time to recognize who has actually done the most harm to We the People.

One of those feel-good stories is going around the news.
It seems a 30-something guy decided to go out and randomly punch Asians in San Francisco today. He nailed an 83-year-old guy on his first run. Then, he decided to sucker-punch a woman in her 70’s.
Who immediately hit him back — which startled him so much he failed to run. Whereupon, she picked up a random piece of lumber from the area and proceeded to beat the everlovin’ c**p out of him. When the police (and the ambulance) showed up, and the guy was handcuffed to a gurney, the police had to protect him because she still had the board in her hand and was ready to whomp him some more, yelling to the crowd (in Chinese) “that bum just hit me!”
She ended up also going to a hospital for her injuries but was rapidly released and is resting at home.
Word is that her GoFundMe blew through its $50,000 goal and is currently at $425,000.
Next, we’re going to hear about a call to defund the SFPD and spread lumber and Chinese grannies throughout downtown.
They’d probably do a better job, considering SF probably doesn’t let their police do any real police work.
She looks way tougher than the cops. Straight out of Dirty Harry.
I’m wondering if the only reason she allowed herself to be taken to the hospital was to see if she could find out which room he was in….
