Joe Biteme, properly styled His Fraudulency, continues to infest the White House, we haven’t heard much from the person who should have been declared the victor, and hopium is still being dispensed even as our military appears to have joined the political establishment in knuckling under to the fraud.
One can hope that all is not as it seems.

The prior election must be acknowledged as fraudulent, and steps must be taken to prosecute the fraudsters and restore integrity to the system.
Nothing else matters at this point. Talking about trying again in 2022 or 2024 is hopeless otherwise. Which is not to say one must never talk about this, but rather that one must account for this in ones planning; if fixing the fraud is not part of the plan, you have no plan.

Of these, palladium continues its steady climb. In fact, on Thursday it had closed at $3012, above three thousand dollars for at least the second time in the last week.
I did, long, long ago, buy some palladium, not a huge amount. (But I can drop it on my foot. I won’t hurt if I do so, because, like I said, not a huge amount.) I even told the guy I was buying it because it had gone over 900 bucks earlier (which at the time was higher than gold had ever been), maybe it would do so again. He scoffed, and explained that was due to a temporary supply interruption from Russia, unlikely to ever happen again. But now, it’s worth well over ten times what I paid for it. In fairness, I had to hold onto it for over 20 years for it to finally do what I wanted it to do, so this isn’t the short of thing that is a “short term” play.
I knew someone who, about the same time, wanted to find a way to get into rhodium, but back then there was no such thing as a rhodium one ounce bar. I don’t know if he managed to find a way to do it, but if he did, he has done very, very well, even if it took a couple of decades for it to finally move.

In that last recipe, I’m trying to figure out what the mozzarella and biscuits are for, unless some poor sod needs his bacon diluted.
I suspect it may have something to do with having your bacon crisp (the way I like it) without throwing out a lot of bacon renderings.
My mom would cook a strip down until it was 4 inches long by 3/4 inches wide and brittle.

I’m warning you now….my mom was The World’s Worst Cook, running away. Until I moved out on my own, I thought oatmeal was supposed to be lumpy…..and store-bought pudding mix was supposed to have a skin on top. I never saw pink in a piece of meat until I lived away from home. We had two flavorings to add to food — salt and pepper…..and only my dad got to use the pepper.
Ack…my mother did some things well, but just got greasier, saltier, bigger, fattier. And she would cook a ton of whatever, put it in magic tupperware into the full size freezer which casts a spell on anything inside to be fresh and tasty in infinity. It helped turn me into a vegetarian until i cooked what little meat i do eat for for myself.
A special family recipe from my grandmother was lumpy egg noodles and beef. There was so much excess flour involved that they were essentially served in paste.

My maternal grandma would spend a couple *weeks* in summer making and drying noodles for the year. She was a very good cook. My paternal grandma though, “got me” when it came to food. Simple slightly special, flavor.
Gingerbread in soup cans with lemon sauce, homemade fried chicken, fresh veggies. And she made pound cake like a champ.
I’ve got the pasta attachments for my KitchenAid, and I’ve made things like paprika pasta, lemon-and-herb pasta, and sage & garlic pasta (the latter, in browned butter, with cooked pancetta, sprinkled with grated mizithra cheese, will blow your mind).
I admittedly have that attachment and have never used it.
Here’s the big hint — do you have a silicone sheet?

You also need something for drying the pasta, but almost any rack-like widget will work for that.
Using a silicone mat means that you use flour for the noodle, with just a trace for handling. It avoids the “noodles in paste” syndrome.
BTW — if you also have the grain mill, you are not limited to purchased flour. You could do a buckwheat-rye pasta.
Another weird thing about made-from-scratch pasta is that it behaves much like concrete.
If you continue to work it — smooshing it together, rolling it flat — it will stay workable. Concrete is like that as well — you trowel it up, you trowel it down, it will gradually thicken but stay malleable for quite a while. But if you walk away from either for half an hour, they become “set”, and that’s the way they are going to be.
One thing about doing the browned butter — you can be doing just a bit in a pan and give it something to nucleate on, and it will foam to something like 30x its initial volume. This can be startling.
But that’s why this is superior to the traditional methods of browning the butter, adding powdered sage and garlic, then pancetta, then pasta.
With this method, you can concentrate on browning the butter without anything in it, and when you add the pasta and pancetta, any foaming issues are smothered. Swoosh it around to get maximum yield from the butter, dump in a pasta dish, and grate mizithra from one of these
You DO have to use more garlic and sage than you expect, because of a bunch of it will be buried in the interior of the pasta instead of on the surface to be tasted…..but (IMHO) the convenience is well worth-it.

I didn’t realize that most people consider steaks to be a luxury, because every time my mom cooked them, they were like boiled shoe leather all the way through. No sear marks, no crust — just chewy.

I’ve spent the past 6yrs caring for an Alzheimer’s patient. Joe B probably thinks he’s on his way to see his mother. My patient was able to read words on the TV after being totally dependent on caregivers for mobility. He’s incompetent & must be replaced.
Have seen that “nursing home walk” many times. If the “RobberJoe” in the video clip is the real one, it’s another indication that his condition is continuing to deteriorate.
My opinion: the “young woman” who took “RobberJoe’s” arm to walk him to the train (and apparently this woman has been walking with him for some time now) is an RN and part of the medical team taking care of him.

It’s a thing right now on Twitter and other platforms, these old film clips. I’ve seen this one, London, Moscow, STL, among others. They are rather interesting.
That is very interesting, psychologically speaking.
People are desperate for a return to what they perceive as “better times.” This really points to how dissatisfied younger people, the main users of Twitter, et. al., with how their life is now.
We have a real shot at returning the country to a more conservative mindset I think. That is what those film clips really represent. We just have to figure out how to lead the way.
First, by living a life of integrity and traditional values. Then, by being willing to invite others to see that. Then, by learning how to communicate the Way to it.
Personally, Paul is the apostle of the Gentiles and knows how to do it.

Interesting how there were so many automobiles in the San Francisco footage…but there were only horse-drawn carriages and wagons in the Paris footage.
Automobiles were just starting to take off and San Francisco’s footage was four years later. Automobiles were probably a rarity anywhere in 1900.
Imagine a four year gap around the introduction of smartphones, for instance.
That being said I wouldn’t be surprised if, in two clips from the same year, SF still had more cars than Paris.

That last one is a famous overhead tram in Wuppertal. Märklin even made a model of it a long time ago… it was in the Märklin Museum not far from here (can’t go there now to check 🙁 )…..
Is that tram still operational? The support structures look similar to some along some train tracks in SE Michigan that were put in by Henry Ford, I believe, in hopes of getting some type of electric train going. Don’t know if the MI stuff ever materialized besides the cement appearing arches along some train tracks…

I’ve only driven in Chicago a couple time but each time it was like a free-for-all at rush hour. They were cutting people off just of the thrill of it.

Yes, everyone drives a stick. What was really hard to get used to was how they expect you to stay to the right on a two-lane highway, because they’re going to pass even in traffic. Speeders drive like they’re an ambulance and oncoming traffic just moves over. And vespas are down the middle line constantly, from both directions. It’s like nowhere else. 🙄

I wouldn’t dare try it. It’s amazing how fast flames can go backwards (i.e., at you) if there’s even a tiny line of gasoline.
If you can avoid that happening, though, go for it!
Pro tip: The cigar is your best bet, because it would probably punch through air resistance the best without being snuffed out.
Plus it burns more slowly, so the flash-bang would (I hope) be sufficiently delayed. Since the cigar has more mass, it could be thrown farther (and faster) too… sort of a Wile E. Coyote effect… 🙂

I’ve been doing beverage reviews from the banana-boxes of stuff I got when my local supermarket did a “beer reset”.
In many of these, you may have gathered that I tasted the beverages and have no intention of ever having another with that flavor.
So, I’ve been accumulating rejects in one of the original banana-boxes in my car.
One of the clerks at the supermarket had joked with me about putting in a rival bid for some boxes, but ended up going home at the end of her shift without getting any. I had mentioned that the beverages involved were pretty sketchy, and she had said she had a bunch of roommates and they wouldn’t be wasted.
So I see her headed for the exit carrying an obviously personal beverage, and I ask if she’s on break and her car is near. I figured that I could dump my accumulated rejects on her and free up some space (though I continue to accumulate more every day).
And we have a bit of a light, casual conversation…..
…..and she starts picking bits of insulation fluff (from whole-house-fan project) off of my shirt.
Mind you, I don’t look good on a nice day; I look (and smell) even worse when I’ve delayed my shower for doing industrial things; and covered in debris is not a good look for me. And here, I’ve got someone young enough to be my daughter performing good-old primate grooming behavior.
Struck me as odd.
Mind you, it isn’t going anywhere with me except disposing of my banana-box rejects….but I have to wonder….
Was it entirely unconscious (on her part)? What motivated her? Did she perceive any of the primate grooming aspects?

““Our children need to learn more history and civics!” is a regular rallying cry for those who want to see America returned to its moral and common sense roots.That a greater emphasis on history and civics is needed is evident from The Nation’s Report Card, which finds only 24 percent of American high school seniors proficient in civics, while only 12 percent of them are proficient in American history.
These earnest requests and dire statistics have been met by recent bipartisan efforts to beef up the curriculum in these areas in the form of “The Civics Secures Democracy Act,” a bill sponsored by Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Chris Coons (D-DE) among others.
“The bill is part of an extraordinary push by academics, politicians, foundations, and research centers to re-emphasize civics in elementary and secondary education,” Mark Bauerlein writes in a piece for City Journal.
Only things might not be as rosy as they seem. “Organizers present the Roadmap as bipartisan and balanced, but if you scan the details, you’ll find it relentlessly focuses on group identity, access and exclusion, agency and dissent, and diversity,” Bauerlein explains. While such reforms may be well-meaning, the fact is that “progressives will outnumber conservatives 50 to 1” when the new curriculum is implemented.
In other words, while one may start out with the goal of teaching about George Washington, John Adams, and other figures in Western civilization, such efforts will soon be replaced by seeing everything from the supposedly repressed perspectives of minorities, women, or sexually divergent individuals.
Indeed, efforts at such politically-correct changes are evident even at the state level, an example of which is seen in the state of Minnesota, where updated social studies standards emphasize “identity politics” more than key historical events.
But are these popular, politically correct, or “woke” ways of teaching history true to history? What exactly is the goal of history education?
Ben Franklin offered some insights on this goal in his 1749 pamphlet “Proposals Relating to the Education of Youth in Pensilvania.” History, Franklin wrote should “be made a constant Part of [students’] Reading” because it provides a platform for all kinds of subjects. Franklin lists geography, ancient customs, and government as some of these subjects. But he also believes that history is a good platform on which to present the all-important issues of religion and morality. … “

I have to raise a caution here.
History is indeed important. But teaching it as a dry recitation of dates and events is worse than useless, and I suspect many teachers would do precisely that because they themselves don’t care about it.
To know that we rebelled in 1775, declared independence in 1776, finally won a decisive victory in 1781 and were formally recognized by our former overlords in 1783 is all well and good, but why did we do this? And just saying “taxes” isn’t an answer. There was an entire theory of government in effect here and we were determined to hold to it. What was that theory? Without explaining that, those events are shorn of their true meaning.
Of course if that was just what is presented and to some degree it should be expected in the lower grades, though much of what I had in lower grades seemed actually better than what came next (unless you opted into certain classes). Partly due to there was a stronger consensus on what needed to be taught and how it should be taught where as now that consensus is likely lost. While in the higher grades history got shorter shrift in part because it was in competition to all the other things kids need to learn but now we are paying a price for rushing past the history and not reinforcing it. I imagine it’s only gotten magnitudes worse with the total garbage that is eating up school curriculums so much so that Math, English and Science are now getting the same back seat treatment History has received.
I remember thinking looking back on my school time and realizing:
7th grade, geography (worldwide)
8th grade, US history
9th grade, US history
10th grade, World history
11th grade, US history
Add to that the fact that most elementary school history was US history, too. “Social Studies” in 6th grade did focus on the rest of the world.
There was no further requirement for history (3 years in high school, which although we had junior high schools back then, 9th grade was legally a part of), and the one AP class offered that might have helped me get through college more easily was US history.
I figured I had had enough. My world history teacher was trying to put together AP European history and I told him I was interested, but it never came to pass.
Yes, US history is important, but so is the rest, it provides context. What were we trying to break away from? What were we trying to keep, and why? A 50-50 balance seems right to me.
When I was in school, American history was BS rah-rah. It wasn’t until I did my own reading on world history that any of it started to make sense.
Take, for instance, the “French and Indian War”. Without context, this was just a weirdly overblown set of peculiar incidents. If you see it as a struggle between the French and British Empires around the world, as fought in colonies rather than over the channel, it becomes perfectly sensible.
It was bigger even than that, as every major power in Europe was involved. The Seven Years War.
Prussia damn near got conquered, saved only by the timely death of the Empress Elizabeth and her being succeeded by a tsar who idolized Frederick (the Great, but he wasn’t looking so great at the time).

I found history fascinating. I just wanted something different instead of the same story again.
It probably didn’t help that the 11th grade class focused on the history of political thought, and the teacher was at best a flaming liberal.

The facts and figures, biographies and Documents, have far less meaning when taken out if context.
I once bought an old Bible solely for the fact that as an intro to each book, was a bit of information ab what ELSE was going on in the world when each book was written.
Timelines in their various forms are also very good for gaining this understanding.
Regardless of what one is studying, I believe retention is linked to a more comprehensive view of of the world/context in general.
Much of what you teach ab monetary history is similar in this way; the historical context makes for an easier grasp of whatever the focus may be.

My US history class in high school led to a semester of US Constitution history. Everyone in the state had to pass a US Constitution test in order to graduate.
World History in high school was really useful. I remember a lot of it.
We did get a “unit” on the constitution in 8th grade; apparently that was a statutory requirement in Colorado. Whether it still is, is another question.

We only had one mandatory class on US History. It wasn’t easy as it was a collage prep school but most students did the bare minimum to get by. Other than that the courses in social study were electives and you could only choose one course a year. I chose Problems of Democracy. European History and Ancient History. Luckily Anthropology was considered a science course so it didn’t count against social studies.
That must have been a splendid — and large — school to offer so many courses.
My college prep school required two years of history: World and US. We didn’t have social studies.
“Social studies” just seemed to be an ed-speak grab bag for history and geography anyway. I couldn’t tell you what it’s like now.

In junior high and high school it was history. No social studies. But that was back in the 1960s and 1970s for me.
I mean to say, if it has some meaning beyond those two subjects, I have no idea what it is.

It’s reduced to a collection of unrelated trivia, when *in fact* it’s all interconnected. I try my damnedest to make that clear when I write about science here. Remembering the interconnections helps you remember it, in the first place, but also it’s less likely to just look like another set of arbitrary assertions when you see how they bolster each other.

Agreed. There was a LOT going on prior to the Revolution that led to people saying “enough.” And it was not all about taxation.

A timeline of history — along with all the meaning and events behind it — is highly useful. I had to learn one when studying World History in high school. That timeline put the whole historical picture together.
It is still useful to me today.

Homeschool group gathering for 3 days in Brentwood, TN.
I have been in Brentwood throughout the entire wuflu mess but have shopped there Very little. I had to go to Target to pick up a couple things son forgot. Weirdest experience to be surrounded by people in masks included in the parking lot, outside … Everyone but 1 lady! She had just moved here from teh great St. Louis area so to her Middle TN was better but to me, spending most of my time in rural counties with no mask mandates (and even larger counties just as Maury County/Columbia) & with rural conservatives and homeschoolers, vast majority of whom do not wear masks. It was the most bizarre experience. Until I experienced it in person … wow!
Even though many don’t wear masks many are getting the vaccines (rural conservatives not homeschoolers). Mask effectiveness was just never convincing. we wore N99s when it was new and unknown but those flimsy blue masks and esp. at this point? Nope.

If EVERY Voter in the TN base knew the SEC members, communicated to them and intentionally voted in an informed way for the SEC member at election time, our GOP in TN and the RNC members we contribute from TN would be more MAGA GOP (many are, but not all).

First of May was in Germany a day to drive or walk into the country and woods to see the first wild flowers. This was a family outing after a long cold winter. We German’s have a thing for forests and hike ( wandern) and listening to the birds. We even sang songs while hiking 🙂

Yes that’s it thanks. I am going back to the gym after the shutdown and this looked interesting. I don’t do any meds, and at my age everyone I tell that to is shocked. So when you said how it changed you it spiked my curiosity. I always try to keep in shape, but haven’t been back to the gym. Then having visitor’s for a month has only made it harder to get back. But now there gone and I am ready to get back to the every other day schedule I was on and rideing my bike 15-20 miles on my off days.

One of the biggest benefits for me was the reduction in inflammation. I am 54 with some wear and tear on the joints due to my gym addiction and heavy weights.
Removing the grain carbs and seed oils (soy, corn, canola, sunflower) has allowed me to train without ibuprofen. The benefit appeared for me at about 6 weeks into ketosis.
There is an adaptation period to get the body and brain trained to use ketones instead of glucose as the preferred source of energy…you may feel like crap for about a week…the ‘Keto flu’. The cause is usually due to loss of water and electrolytes that were being retained by carbs…eat extra salt and consider supplementing quality magnesium and potassium.

Working the same sort of thing myself right now. I was fairly low carb anyway, but could see it should be less.
I can’t take ibuprofen because of blood disorder (HHT) makes me bleed. I had a DVT in my leg and that’s how I found about HHT. Had nose bleeding issues since childhood and never knew why till then. Hereditary and didn’t know it. Put me on blood thinners and about bleed out once.
So I stay away from all meds now.

Let’s not give Corey Lewandowski short shrift. I think MollyP has it right – the crazy, jealous, dysfunctional load of a husband was her downfall. There had to be discussions, which then become leaks.
Corey Lewandowski (?!) was early on. He preceded Paul Manafort, who preceded Kellyanne Conway.
There was no way that Corey could have a) got Trump his delegates (Manafort) and b) taken Trump to the win (Conway’s polling).
I always liked Lewandowski, and I believe he’s back in the fold now. I liked Conway in the beginning as well, something wasn’t right by the end.
The media and left destroyed anything they could with Conway, in order to harm Trump. They RIPPED at that marriage, coming though both hubs and her kid. They tried the same sort of crap with my wife on a smaller level, but I was able to disarm their various plots thanks to my dear old mom who taught me well. The insights that I gained from their attacks then fashioned into WEAPONS used back on the left. Not always obviously, but ALWAYS.
The left will come at you a thousand ways when they want to bring you down. You have to not just beat them – you have to raise the COST of their attempts very high.
Kellyanne never did that, IMO. The left never withdrew from her with bloodied hands or missing fingers. We never heard things like her daughter’s friends or their parents being sued or hauled away by cops. We never heard about her hubs associates getting bad press on their abuse of him, or revelations of their sneakery. We never heard Kellyanne dropping bombs that had the left eating their own.
She was too gentle on the left. She didn’t even swat hands she had every right to chop off. In some ways, I have to admire her for her restraint.
She may have been “taking the heat” intentionally, too. That is a possibility. She was there when the left was building a White House narrative for kinetic attacks, IMO. Letting the left think they could bring down Trump through her would have been a great strategy.
When there’s a book deal, and there’s nothing good that can come of it, I’ll have to remain suspect. 🤔

About 20 years ago, the eastern part of my county was still unzoned, one of the last two parts of the state that could be said for. Quite a contrast to the western side of the county, largely occupied by Colorado Springs and suburbs.
Unfortunately the county commissioner who represented that part of the county (as well as a sliver of the Springs that actually well outnumbered her natural constituency) had campaigned on keeping it unzoned (for which she was loved about like Trump, in the eastern county), but basically annoyed the other commissioners a lot (hmm, another Trumpian parallel here).
The then-chairman of the board of county commissioners (it rotated among the four who got along, they excluded the one representing the east), decided to push zoning to “get” this commissioner, and one of the things he did was joke with some paper in Denver about how he was having a conversation with his dog and his dog said “why not just do it?”
Of course that was about as contemptuous as could be but what the hell, they weren’t his constituents.
We dubbed him “Son of Chuck” (his name was Chuck Brown, yes I am not kidding) as a reference to “Son of Sam.”
At the actual BOCC meeting where zoning was rammed through, with hundreds of VERY irate people assembled, he was a bit zoned out on pain killers, and had to ask someone to repeat something they had said to him. From out in the audience, came the heckle “ASK YOUR DOG!!!!”
Another story about ol’ Son of Chuck: his own constituents, at least the ones involved enough to go to precinct caucuses and the county nominating convention, were basically in sympathy with the people in the East who just wanted to be left alone. He knew this, and didn’t go through that process at all to secure his nomination for another term (if he had failed at that level he’d have been ineligible in the primary), rather he had to petition on to the primary ballot by just talking to “ordinary” Republicans who knew nothing about him other than that his name was familiar.
At that point he won the primary and the general election.
