I’d think it depends on how well one can do the backflip. These here look like they have had plenty of practice. And there’s this thing about sleeping well after exercise.
On the other hand, I’d be concerned with what happens to the bed with that kind of landing forces applied to it. I’m sure that if I tried that here, I might have to find a replacement the next day. So there might not be any good sleep on account of a broken bed.
The dog has a better idea, much easier to do and much easier on the surroundings, bed, floor, any downstairs neigbors etc.

It sort of reminds me of seeing concerts in Silicon Valley — sometimes, it’s a really great concert, and extremely enjoyable…..but when the band does its second encore, everyone gets up and leaves quietly.
Fact is, people do insane hours here and work very hard, and (especially at a quarter-end, or during reporting season) people love to get out and “escape” but are too exhausted to really keep going.
With the giant smokeout last year, and the scamdemic, and the crash and burn economy, sometimes the best option is sleep — no matter how much of a patriot you may be.
One has not heard fireworks until one has experienced Prague’s New Years celebration in the old part of town.
It sounds like a major battle during war, from the rat-a-tat-tat of machine guns to concussive explosions you can feel in your chest. A truly impressive cacophony of sound that goes on for about 4-5 hours. The odd thing is how quickly you get used to it.

I dodged a bullet on Saturday when Biden and his fellow usurpers were on parade in Antrim County. I had an errand to run that would have taken me within 1-1/2 miles of the King Orchard visit. On my return home I had plans to stop at the Village Market in the above photo to buy a few groceries.
I had absolutely no idea any of this was going on.
I shudder at the thought that I might have been picked up in a security net that would have hauled me off to the Patriot Gulag for my mild-mannered political associations.
Fortunately I had made a change of plans Saturday morning and postponed them to another day..

I really believe that they schedule “stuff” that can’t be done over “comms” for these visits. That stuff may be their dirtiest comms, research, dirty ops, or other things. But I really believe that when these dirty feds show up, dirty dealings are on the table somewhere.

Enough time has passed so that I can safely post this. A high-level Biden Administration official visited my neighborhood. The planning was kept quiet up until it was actually happening so that the neighborhood was surprised by the visit (or else there would have been protests). They surrounded the Biden official with wealthy political donors brought in from outside the neighborhood to make it look like a grassroots, “connecting with the plebs” type thing, but nobody who lives in the actual neighborhood was actually there. The whole thing was so fake and scripted. The neighborhood was just a prop to them.

We had bobs for dinner. Things were prearranged two days ago for her to grill ’em on the gas grill outside. She spent the day quilting, then decided to spray chemicals in the bathroom. After a bit of this, she said that she shouldn’t have to cook the bobs because she was busy poisoning the bathroom, and would I do it.
I preheated the grill and swabbed it with wet wadded up paper towels until the bubbles were clear. Then I shut down all but one burner, put the bobs on the hot burner, and did about 2 minutes per face to get char marks. Everything then got moved to the indirect heat side.
About 10 minutes later, she complained that she was hungry and wanted her bob right away. I squeezed it with the tongs, and it read “raw”. She insisted I bring it in, then she sliced into it, and it was raw. I told her I’d put it on the hot side for four minutes up and four minutes down and let her evaluate it again. I did, then she did and promptly ate it.
It’s like some surreal world where planning is irrelevant as soon as it’s done.

My focus was on “planning” — it’s right there in the comment. The plan for two days prior was that she would get to play with the grill, which she generally enjoys. Instead, it was handed off to me at a moment’s notice. Thirty minutes after that, I was being told that I was doing it wrong….
While it is certainly a woman’s prerogative to change her mind, it is quite disconcerting when it happens inside your OODA loop.
As far as admitting that’s how I use a grill….I am fortunate to have several ways of using a grill, depending on circumstances. The way I used it last night was entirely appropriate for the situation in which I found myself.

I have never understood the gas grill, unless the gas was just used as a starter to ignite charcoal.
Mostly because the whole point of grilling was to get the charcoal / smoke flavoring.
IOW, I don’t know what the point of char marks are, if there’s no enhanced flavor 😁
Plus you miss out on all the smoke, which is like a visible and unmistakable carbon footprint, doing your part to warm up the globe, and help to offset all the carbon offsets 👍
If I put any water on the grill rack, it would never be clear… that rack has been black since about the 3rd time I used it. It gets a wire brush scrub after it heats up from the fire, and that seems to work fine 😂
Gas grills have some sort of mechanism between the burners and the grill that allows drippings from the food to be burned messily, imparting that “smoke flavor”. It was my understanding that it was the charcoal smoke that gave food the charcoal grill flavor… 😁

The old days in the Silly Valley were exhilarating. Amazingly rapid growth, but that bought many problems, and in some cases spectacular failures (e.g. Adam Osborne). The book “Soul Of A New Machine,” by Tracy Kidder, describes this kind of growth, where one would come in one day to find a new level of management above, and a new level of management below oneself. A person at a trade show, describing the situation said, rubbing his hands together, “There so much damn money to be made”…
And I think that was the beginning of the end, even though the book described Route 128 in MA and Research Triangle Park in NC (IIRC), they could just as well have described the new, or transitional Silicon Valley…
Sad thing is, most of those companies are gone. There used to be a map where Silicone Valley was HUGE, and the rest of the country (and world) was tiny by comparison. The companies listed on that map are, for the most part, defunct, absorbed, failed, or forgotten…
One of my “things” is I collect pins from the places I visit. When I was in Austin [YEARS ago to learn a piece of fundraising software], I thought the whole “keep Austin weird” was kinda cool, and really wanted a bat pin since I had seen the bat flight one evening. No such luck.
What I think is happening here is that credit unions can’t and DON’T (in my experience) deeply research buyers to make those “money-maker out-of-box determinations” that [some] banks can and will make.
I have dealt with this in terms of mortgages and refinance for non-standard properties – things that break many lenders’ rules. Credit unions and many banks are dead in the water – they have no idea how to deal with the situation. Credit unions are particularly bad – they save money with their threadbare staffing by rules that lock out tons of opportunity along with potential trouble. In contrast, SMART banks – some big, some small – can deal with the research needed, and will offer tempting rates.
The trouble is, many banks do not trust their own lending officers to do the right thing, and hamstring them with hard rules that basically make research results worthless.
Q: what are some of the smaller SMART banks?

The answers would be a bit too doxxing, because they’re a bit too local, but what I can give you is what to look for.
There are smaller (but NOT pop-stand) local and regional banks which are expanding – surprisingly – and they’re smart and hungry for business. So I would say look for banks which have bought up new locations in the last two years, AND offer solid access to cash. Avoid older regional banks that are very likely in decline and will be bought up by the biggies soon.
I would not go with anything small that is not on a “non-fake” growth trajectory, and that “non-fake” determination requires a visit and some research.
Also bear in mind that it is not just possible but likely that your mortgage will be “sold upwards” to the bigs – that is just a fact of life.

I now believe that, based on the conduct of government observed during the Trump Presidency, that the United States of America has passed from the republic form of government characterized by a representative form of government into the imperial form of government such as was characterized by the Roman emperors. The IC and the military form the Praetorian Guard and defend and work under the guidance of the SES. The American citizen now has no direct influence over government affairs. Voting is an illusion. It only continues to be exercised as a convenient “lie” of the SES. The purpose of the legislature and the Supreme Court is to codify and legitimize the policies and goals of the SES. The sole purpose of the executive branch including the Presidency is to implement the goals of the SES. This analysis seems to satisfy, at least to me, the characteristics of Occam’s razor. It also explains why Trump could not accomplish the re-invigoration of the Republic. It explains the Flynn prosecution, the election fraud, the anemic Supreme Court response, the utter lack of consequences of the Deep State coup, the burning of cities, and the destruction of the culture. I would like to be wrong but I don’t think that is the case. I would like to believe that the Republic can be restored but human nature and the lessons of history do not provide much in the way of hope.
