Thanking everybody for your patience. Whether happenstance, coincidence, or enemy action, I’m dealing with some technical issues. In addition to those, and the obvious spiritual attacks, I am dealing with the obvious site stuff in what are best maintained as unobvious ways.
I suspect we struck a nerve.
A combined technical / spiritual / strategic response by all of us will prevent this attack from succeeding. Hold the line – bite the bullet – gird the loins – bite the lip – pray for guidance, discernment, and strength – whatever YOU believe keeps the ship aright for the moment. Everything else is lower priority.
In that spirit, the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel from Tuesday’s threads, and the Breastplate of St. Patrick, not to mention the Litany of Humility are favorites recommended by exorcists in spiritual warfare.

It’s surprisingly expensive (from a delta V standpoint) to go to the Sun, or even to Mercury.
Basically, once leaving Earth orbit, you have to kill the spacecraft’s forward velocity (similar to earth’s) if you want to drop into the sun. That’s a LOT of forward velocity. Even getting close is work. I believe the Parker solar probe had to do multiple sling shot maneuvers to get there.
The dirt-cheapest alternative involving space travel, actually, would be to send them on a suborbital hop, like the first Mercury flight or SpaceShipOne.
Just don’t take a lot of trouble to seal the cabin.

I vote anyway just to make it that much harder for the SOBs to steal the election and to let them KNOW WE ARE THE MAJORITY.
I do not regret to say I did not vote in the last election. My local politicians are all selected by the Party and are as useless as the ones they are replacing.
In many cases we do not have any opposing candidates within or without the Party. I attend local Party meetings occasionally just to confirm they are doing the same old “It’s a club and you’re not in it” shtick.
I stick my nose in at county and city meetings and berate their asses on occasion, because they have to sit there and take it. 😆

Studies have already shown that one is 14 times more likely to die from COVID with vitamin D deficiency.
A meta-analysis of 23 published studies containing 11,901 participants found that one who is vitamin D-deficient was 3.3 times more likely to get infected with SARS-CoV-2 than one who is not deficient.
The reality is that most people’s levels are below 30 and many are closer to zero, especially among the elderly population.
With studies having shown zero correlation between lockdowns, masks, and vaccines and better COVID outcomes, there are now 142 studies vouching for the near-perfect correlation between higher vitamin D levels and better outcomes in COVID patients.
It is beyond criminal that 20 months into this endeavor there has not been a national campaign percolating down to primary care physicians to test and supplement vitamin D levels accordingly.
As the authors explain, the main cause of death from COVID stems from a “cytokine storm” when the body’s immune system releases too many toxic cytokines as part of the inflammatory response to the virus.
Vitamin D is the key regulator of those cells, and the insufficient amount of D is nearly synonymous with a greater risk for a cytokine storm.
In many ways, a cytokine storm is literally the outcome of vitamin D deficiency.

Before I read the post and thread I want to put this here.
A few days ago FG&C inspired me to watch The Chosen. I have now watched the first two seasons completely. The third is expected in the spring, and seven are planned in all.
This series is very, very moving, and very unexpected. My heart is stirred.
FG&C asked if the series was Biblical. Yes and no. Yes, in the sense that its intention and goal is to reflect the Bible, and the series is based on the Bible, mostly and most particularly the ministry of Jesus.
No in the sense that it is a work of art, and can be enjoyed as a work of art. In this sense, the series consists of fictional background, and sometimes re-arranges or compresses the Biblical facts.
A Christian friend of mine, truly a wonderful young man and an evangelical, very Biblical, discussed the series with me. We both agreed that there was nothing in the series (so far) which contradicts the Bible or is inconsistent with the Bible. To the contrary, it beautifully captures the spirit and reality of the Bible, including the historical reality, which to me is fundamental.
There is zero political correctness, and zero watering down. Jesus actually heals, and frees people of demons.
Yet the language used is modern, and the personalities are “modern” also. Both my friend and I loved this, and we are both hidebound traditionalists.
The series can be watched for free. It takes several episodes to understand how the series works, and so the first several episodes are slow (even so, I cried at the end of the first episode). This is strictly about the ministry of Jesus as found in the gospels, with some references to applicable parts of the Old Testament.
Maybe they incorporate information from the mystics and Fathers, I just do not know. But I think it is mostly artistic license, not information from the early Church.
For instance, they present Simon the Zealot as an actual member of the Zealots, and he very likely was, but we just don’t know.
They present Mary Magdalene as a broken woman in ways which may or may not be true, but are certainly possible and plausible. In fact the first episode is about her trauma, and what made me cry at the end was her encounter with Jesus.
The whole story is introduced through Nicodemus and his fictitious encounter with Mary Magdalene, although Nicodemus is found only in John’s amazing description of the encounter between Nicodemus and Jesus.
But artistically, this allows the series makers to introduce many running themes: the Romans, the Jews and Pharisees in particular, disciples, those who follow and those who do not, etc.
Another example, Matthew is presented in a very definitive way as an awkward and socially inept young man. I am not sure he was presented that way by any early Church sources, but in the series Matthew is a very powerful example of what Jesus was doing.

Several months ago, a friend and I also watched the entire first two Seasons.
We are also very “biblical”, v conservative when handling Scripture.
The creators of this series are quite clear ab their creative license, and dedicated to the authenticity of their “backstories” as being consistent with biblical narrative.
Viewers are also encouraged to read The Gospels.
The outstanding production values, the v fine casting, the photography and settings/wardrobe are all of excellent value.
It is no wonder to me that the entire Series has been funded by viewers, based on one film, The Christmas Story, which actually launched the enthusiasm for this Series. Viewers of that film could see the quality which is displayed in this wonderful offering.

I’m assuming that this gun could not fire from some kind of half-cocked “safe” position, but if it could, then there’s that problem, too.
From what I understand, it’s an old single-action (SA) revolver. It *only* fires by cocking back the hammer, which rotates a fresh cartridge into firing position, AND (very important) makes the trigger both functional and quite sensitive. On many of these guns, it becomes a hair trigger, because that improves accuracy.
I suspect Baldwin had been practicing with double action (DA) revolvers, or even owns one for home security. This can create very bad habits for single action shooting.
With a DA revolver, it’s possible to have terrible trigger discipline, letting the trigger finger ride on the trigger softly for a handier grip, as long as you understand how much trigger pull is “too much”. The trigger position is significantly forward in DA mode – it’s a long, hard pull which rotates, cocks, and fires.
SA mode in a DA revolver works the same as in an SA revolver, but people typically don’t keep a gun cocked in SA mode – it’s an accident waiting to happen, IMO.

I very deliberately chose as my carry weapon a hammerless revolver. It’s double-action, no matter what. However, I would NEVER handle it with my finger on the trigger. Fingers go on triggers when a target is about to be destroyed, period. I do like knowing that it would require me to actually THINK for a second as I pulled the trigger, though. It takes an effort.
Hammerless wheelgun. You like to be sure that if you want to pull the trigger, the gun will go bang.

When I’m talking to Glock people I say it’s their equivalent to the Glock 19, with the “regular” CZ-75 being like a Glock 17, and the RAMI being like a Glock 26.

The RAMI also comes with a cocked-and-locked safety rather than a decocker. Use that and the double action pull becomes moot.
But you do have to train to take the safety off automatically.
