GLORIFY GOD THROUGH OUR PRAISE AND WORSHIP
Psalm 50:3 says “The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!”. Similarly in the New Testament the Apostle Paul summarizes the way we should order our lives in order to glorify God.
The highest call and purpose of man is the joyful act of glorifying God. Notice here, that this is a ‘joyful’ act. As I mentioned earlier when we fulfill the very purpose for which we were created, which is to glorify God, and when we do this in worship, it is a joyful act and not something we have to put on. What is special about glorifying God through worship is that it combines the other two points mentioned above, “Glorifying God by Believing in Him” and “Glorifying God by Declaring Him”.
When we praise the Lord, we do it because we believe in Him and we have faith in the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. Secondly when we praise, we are declaring His glory, His honor, His praise, His power, His majesty outwardly. So it is both an inward and outward glorification of God.
God is seeking those who will bring Him glory, not just through the Sunday worship time, not just for an hour every day but what He seeks is worship every day, every moment through all our activities. We cannot worship God properly on Sunday or just in our prayer times, if we are not worshiping God throughout the week. In fact, 1 Corinthians 10:31 says “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
So, the only way to achieve “glory to God” through worship is when it is done to Him in spirit and truth. John 4:23-24 says “But the hour is coming, as is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him.”
Worshiping the Father in spirit is to worship from the heart, from deep within us. It is not the external worship, because external worship can also be performed by those who are not right with God. Matthew 15:8 gives us an example of this, saying “This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me; in vain do they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.”
Now, worshiping the Father in truth, is to worship God for all that He is in the majesty of His attributes revealed in all of scripture. We glorify God and worship Him for His love, and not only for His love but also for His righteousness and justice. We glorify and worship Him for His Kindness, His sovereignty and for His grace.
We worship Him, when He gives and when He takes away. Job 1:20-21 says “And he said, Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.”
We worship God for all of His ways. God’s Word is the source of our worshiping in truth, and as we do this, notice that worship in “spirit” flows out of worship in “truth” through the revealed word of God. As we fill our hearts and minds with the pure word of God, the truth of God will move our spirits to praise and love and glorify God through worship in Him. So starting today, let’s be sure to glorify God through our praise and worship.
CONCLUSION
Give glory to God! This is the very purpose of why we are created and are image- bearers of the living God. The very reason that we were created is to glorify God in all that we do.
It’s only when we do this that we will be complete, because this is when we fulfill the purpose of our very being. Without consciously giving the glory to God, there is a part of us missing. We will be always left wanting.
So, today if we are struggling to find meaning for our lives, perhaps there is something missing which we just can’t pinpoint. There is something in us searching for answers and we find ourselves lacking without an answer. Hebrews 8:12 says “For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.” We are made righteous in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says “For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”
This is the greatest privilege in our life, so take some time to come before the Lord, and start giving Him the glory for everything in our lives, and live for Him, through Him, and by Him, as it says in Romans 11:36 “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be glory forever. Amen.”
Everyone of us owes all that we are and have to God. We owe every fiber of intelligence to God, and the slightest resolve to do good is a gift from Him. Apart from Him we are all useless. And worse than worthless . . . wicked. We would fly into nothingness without His sustenance, and we would degenerate into devils without His grace.
If the totality of our dependence on God would hit us full force, how differently we would live and do good. We would “serve as one who renders service by the strength which God supplies.” We would not boast in our achievements, nor criticize the speck in our brother’s eye, nor grumble about inconveniences, nor be presumptuous in any way, as if even existence itself could be taken for granted!
No, a person who truly owns up to the fact that he exists by the word of God, that all his strength and moral resolve is a gift of God, that person will have a spirit of joy and gratitude and lowliness. And in serving this way, God gets the glory.
Let’s fulfill our very purpose and walk in the joy of the Lord, “so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in us, and us in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!

Yes, I am slowly learning that glorifying God is not what I thought it “had to be”, but what it IS, discovered by DOING IT and DOING IT MORE. To me, that is a sign that it is part of God’s creation – that it arises and reveals itself naturally.

A great lesson, Carl. There is only one entity who deserves our humility, our veneration, and our worship, and who deserves to be glorified. As Scott pointed out in the last thread, we do not bow in subservience before any other human being. We choose to serve others, but there is no one whom we are required to bow before.

Wow! The canceling of orbital velocity is so obvious once one sees it, but it is so easy to NOT SEE IT!!!
To send stuff towards the sun we’ve typically had to use sling shot effects, just like we usually do having to send stuff away from the sun.
The New Horizons probe to Pluto didn’t actually need a sling shot (though we used one off of Jupiter to shorten the trip time–had we missed the launch window for that, we could have simply launched a bit later and taken a few extra years). We were able, by adding the booster velocity to the earth’s orbital velocity, to get over solar escape velocity of (IIRC) 41 km/sec. But we could only do that because the thing barely weighed a thousand pounds.
But the difference between Earth orbital velocity around the sun and the sun’s escape velocity is smaller than the difference between Earth orbital velocity and zero. And you pretty much have to get to zero to drop anything into the Sun. Any higher number just results in an elliptical orbit around the Sun.
As far as I know we couldn’t do that for ANY size payload, yet. Maybe one the size of a walnut.
And, yes “obvious once one sees it but easy to not see” is how a lot of orbital mechanics works!

I have some experience with the Hawaiian building industry, and no wonder he is scowling!
When I was working at a boardwalk shopping area there, we had to have about 500 square feet of deck replaced. It was hilarious. The supervisor spent all day in the coffee shop watching TV, or out smoking. They had to use a power nailer, and we could listen and tell how slow the work was going. There was a nail about every five-ten minutes. The workers took smoke breaks every hour, and two hour lunches most days. If the “surf was up” nobody came in at all. I left the job about two months after they started, and it was only about half complete!
I heard from many people that it takes at least two years or more to get a house completed on any island in Hawaii. It’s ridiculous.
Be a shame if a volcano vent happened to pop up underneath 🙂

I mean the people from Illinois drive slalom style way too fast as it is. The parking lot at the church was a mess, although we had quite a few new faces at Mass this am.
On the way home, I cut through Forest Park because I was making a stop not exactly in my ‘hood, and there were people everywhere. It’s a sunny day, and a little warmer, so there were runners, all parking spots at the top of Art Hill were taken. The kids, both young and old, were sledding there and on Suicide Hill over by the golf course.
It’s the old normal.
Now, if we can just ditch the face diapers.
One of my cousins west of St Louis made a FB post asking all their 4x4s to come to the church early this morning to clean out the entry to their parking lot for the others. Such a genius idea. I love my cousins.
The parking lots at my parents’ parish and a number of others are cleared off. This one WAS plowed, but there was still an inch of packed snow on it.
The car I had this morning has new all-weather tires (snow tires) on the drive wheels, so I was good. Others, IDK.

How many different ways could that go wrong?
Right now, they are peacefully occupying an area, according to historical protest example and tradition.
Right now, there is safety in numbers, all packed in together.
Right now, they can portray themselves as victims fighting for freedom.
Right now, the totalitarian enemy can do little, if anything, to move them, with trucks packed in like sardines. If push comes to shove, disable the trucks, making them immovable.
It would take weeks to physically remove these trucks one by one, to free up the streets.
What happens if you withdraw to the perimeter, and then actively block anyone coming or going?
1) you go from a peaceful “sit in” to a blockade, surrendering the PR war
2) you spread the line to one truck deep, going from a concentrated mass to people isolated in a thin ring, and nobody in the perimeter has visual contact with anyone besides the truck immediately in front and behind him
3) the community aspect is lost, as well as the access to centralized supplies. Are you going to walk to the other side of Ottawa for a sandwich?
4) you lose the safety in numbers aspect. Now you’re just a lone dude on a perimeter
5) The cops can concentrate forces on one truck at a time, instead of being confronted by the entire mass
6) while all the trucks are concentrated IN the city, the ‘arteries’ are all CLOGGED. Nothing can get in OR out. Even if the authorities tried to tow the trucks, they can’t GET to the innermost trucks until AFTER they work their way to them, from the outside in.
If you switch to a perimeter envelopment, all the cops have to do to open routes into and out of the city, is drag a few trucks to the side of the road at the major access points, hold the routes open with armed goons, and pick off the rest of the trucks at their leisure, or just leave them where they are.
If I was the cops or the military, I would love it if the truckers split up and spread themselves thin in a perimeter outside the city.
Right now, they’re like the teenagers in a horror movie, in the relative safety of the cabin in the woods.
Leaving the safety of the concentrated group to form a perimeter is like the teenagers deciding to go out into the woods, alone, at night, one by one, to find out what’s making that awful chainsaw noise… mixed with blood curdling screams… 😂 🤣 😂
Actually the larger grocery stores, Albertsons, Safeway, Costco etc use large warehouses that are supplied by long haul trucks. These then distribute to the stores locally with the short haul trucks. A fairly impressive operation actually. Also, there will be regional producers for items like baked good, milk, meat processing etc.
So it is more then 3 days.
