His Fraudulency
Joe Biteme, properly styled His Fraudulency, continues to infest the White House, we haven’t heard much from the person who should have been declared the victor, and hopium is still being dispensed even as our military appears to have joined the political establishment in knuckling under to the fraud.
One can hope that all is not as it seems.

(I’d like to add, I find it entirely plausible, even likely, that His Fraudulency is also His Figureheadedness. (Apparently that wasn’t a word; it got a red underline. Well it is now.) Where I differ with the hopium addicts is on the subject of who is really in charge. It ain’t anyone we like.)
Justice Must Be Done.
The prior election must be acknowledged as fraudulent, and steps must be taken to prosecute the fraudsters and restore integrity to the system.
Nothing else matters at this point. Talking about trying again in 2022 or 2024 is hopeless otherwise. Which is not to say one must never talk about this, but rather that one must account for this in ones planning; if fixing the fraud is not part of the plan, you have no plan.
Trucking
I saw a few rumors here that something would start…today. Others report at least three other expected start dates.
Some believe it will be more caravans. Some think the truckers ought to do something else (like just quitting in place). I could even see the expectation of caravans being a distraction from mass quitting. If the opposition concentrates all its resources to block convoys expected on I-70, I-40, I-80, and I-95 (plus any others, like I-81 to I-66) they can’t be “out there” trying to force truckers to continue working.
This reminds me, of course, of something out of Atlas Shrugged.
Atlas Shrugged was written in an age where trains were the predominant long-haul transportation mode, and it describes the “frozen train” phenomenon. Locked into their jobs, forbidden from quitting, being fired, or being promoted by Directive 10-289, sometimes an entire train crew would just decide “to Hell with this shit,” stop the train, and walk away. Passengers would become rather upset.
Truckers could do just this (though they needn’t walk away), and might even disable their trucks–the railroads could send another crew out and get the train moving, but if a truck is broken, it’s going nowhere. Meanwhile the feds are waiting for convoys that “need to be stopped” before they choke DC traffic. (Not that anyone would be able to tell the difference.)
In a way, we’re actually seeing Scott’s suggestion of a general strike. Not just with the trucks, but with all of the people who have quit working. Unfortunately, at least until the trucks stop rolling, the punch is a lot less when people quit gradually over the space of a year, than when they all stop work at once. But there it is. Millions of people are dropping out. Some use the phrase “going Galt” but that’s an injustice to the concept of going Galt. When the people in Atlas Shrugged “dropped out,” if they didn’t completely disappear, they took an almost-no-thought-required menial job. Their minds were on strike, but they still felt that they should support themselves. John Galt himself was a track walker. They certainly did not go on the dole like many are doing today.
The reason the trucks going on strike (be it by caravan or “frozen” truck) is potentially devastating is that almost everything we buy spends at least some time on a truck. Notably including food–and food is hard to go without for more than a very few days. Of course you can (and hopefully did) prepare for this by stocking up. (I believe I’m good for 2-3 months, though I might reach the end of such a time span willing to kill for a change in my menu. On the other hand some things I saw on Friday tell me I shouldn’t consider that adequate and need to get more food.)
But food isn’t the only issue. Personally, I’m likely to be very inconvenienced by a truck strike for other reasons I’m not going to go into.
I’ll be inconvenienced, but really, that’s no big deal in the grand scheme. Because my level of inconvenience pales next to that of the people rotting in DC jails because they were in the wrong place on January 6 (as it happens, they were somewhere within a hundred yards of me, not that distance from me is the issue).
So even for the prepared, this could be a very rough time. Unless you’ve been living and breathing “prep” for a few years (or even if you have been), there’s likely something you forgot about. And you might not be able to find it.
But something has to happen. The Opposition isn’t going to back down until we make this country useless to them. If we’re really lucky, it won’t get worse than a few weeks with empty shelves at the grocery store. But I’m going to try not to grouse about my inconvenience…and if I just have to do it as an alternative to exploding, I am going to lay the blame where it belongs.
On the truckers? HELL NO. On the deep state, the swamp, whatever you want to call it. Our self-appointed “masters” who need their heads mounted on pikes. They acted, we are responding in defense of our lives and liberty. If they didn’t feel a pathological need (and entitlement) to control others who just want to be left alone, none of this would be necessary. They are mentally ill. And we shouldn’t accommodate them.
So let’s see what happens. Canada is serving as our guinea pig. Hopefully Trudeau’s government will back down, even if he won’t.
If you’re the praying type, pray for Justice. That is what we’ve lacked for decades.

Now THAT is big. The people who are technical traders–i.e., those who try to read the tea leaves based on the way the line looks on a chart–say that the $1860 line is a barrier. Gold will try hard not to go through it, but if it does, it’s going to keep going.
Now merely touching that mark isn’t definitive, but this is a Friday (when gold usually goes down) and it was UP 32 bucks today. Are the manipulators out of leverage? We’ll see next week.
Silver, too is up. Platinum has moved a bit, back and forth but ended up right where it was last week. Palladium and rhodium, however, are moving up again, and they are used a lot by the auto industry, which has been slowly coming back to life.
Inflation is real, and the conventional wisdom is coming around to having it stay for a while. That will push upward on gold prices.
James Webb Space Telescope Update
I had heard nothing about JWST all week, but suddenly Friday morning, there was a bunch of stuff.
The first step to getting the eighteen primary mirror segments (plus secondary mirror) to act as one mirror, was to assess how badly out of whack they are. So JWST took a photograph of the star HD 84406 near the Big Dipper. Actually, it took a lot of photographs near and around it. They took a mosaic covering about the size of the full moon; hundreds of photos. As it happens HD 84406 has few other stars near it as seen from Earth, so any dots that showed up were liable to be that star.
As it happens most of the mosaic was wasted; all eighteen segments put their image of the star fairly close to each other. Here’s what they saw:
So this was very positive news. The Near Infrared Camera is working; it can record light and send us the results. (“Near Infrared” is a term for the shortest wavelengths of infrared light, closest to being visible light.)
They were able, over the course of the week, to determine which image was coming from which mirror.
The two wings that swung into place as the last steps of deployment are circled.
So now they have enough to begin the process of getting the mirrors pointed right. Somewhere (not marked here, but in the lower right near the edge–it is shown in the video below, but turned upside down) is the spot they want the image to appear…so when they tell the telescope to point to such-and-such Right Ascension and Declination, that’s what will appear in the center of the field of view. They want this star’s 18 images to all be there and all be in perfect focus, and with the light waves in phase. So they have their work cut out for them over the next two and a half months.
It turns out there’s a lens inside the instrument package that allows JWST to take a picture of its own main mirror. Here’s a sample:

There were no nasty surprises…like an obviously defective mirror segment.

That is some pretty fair shootin’ on the JWST — and, yes, I did appreciate that it lines up with the rim of the dipper and is about one dipper-width past the end.
I’m happy that most of the nail biting stuff where disaster could have happened seem to be past and now it’s just getting everything lined up properly.

This is like our little drone helicopter on Mars, Ingenuity. It was a proof-of-concept for about 7-8 flights. It just completed #19.
Or the Martian lander Curiosity, whose two-year mission was extended in February 2010…..and is still operating.
Once it is fully operational, the JWST will rapidly “pay for itself” by doing all its mission goals. But, just like SpaceX’s recent StarLink satellite launch where 40 out of its 49 satellites got boofed by a solar flare, it’s not a friendly forgiving environment out there.

Against JWST? Probably not. Against Elon………maybe. But he can launch so cheap it doesn’t much matter.

Cthulhu is correct. There is a list of a few hundred “if this breaks, we’re hosed” items, and some of them are just things dying of old age, or other typical failures that could happen to any spacecraft, not just this one.

I think I found the bug in WordPress.
When you save the PUBLICATION TIME in the draft of a post, WordPress is taking THAT time which is IN THE FUTURE and is using that as the “last modified” time of the post. Clearly that is an ERROR. It may be as simple as a common variable name, or a leaky object, or a wrong variable name in a statement.
But that’s it. Post modification times are messed up in WordPress right now.
Possibly related, it looks like if you go to the scheduling calendar and hit the link at the bottom that says “reset”, it removes the future “last modification” time and makes the date make sense again.
So what MAY be happening, is that when you copy a post, it’s not nulling out the old modification time correctly.
Uninitialized variables (and unchecked buffers) live on…
Hmmm. The unexamined buffer is not worth giving…
So, is the solution not to copy the post, but create a new one and copy the content that’s included every week?
We’ll have to experiment. I have a feeling that creating fresh posts won’t work. I hit the “reset” calendar button for Monday’s post (which was a copy), and it showed the correct time until I scheduled, and then it showed SCHEDULED at the correct time. If that publishes correctly, then it means there is a fix I can describe to everybody. If it doesn’t work, it means that scheduling itself is buggy, and there is little we can do about that.

I keep reevaluating and wondering what I might have overlooked. And I fight doubt that I need to be that stocked up because I’ve never experienced this before and it’s hard to believe. But logic and common sense tell me I must prepare for the worst.
Our inconvenience with supply chain issues also pales compared to that of the truckers and their families who are holding the line. I am so grateful to them.

The ugliest part is having people get sick, go to hospital, and be turned away with nothing because they’re not dying enough yet to support a political narrative. Vitamin C and D, with zinc, selenium, and quercetin would have been SOMETHING that was useful — and none of that needed a script. IVM and HCQ could have knocked the virus out if given early. But where prescription and non-prescription therapeutics were available, these were systematically denied while patients were sent home to get worse.

On the subject of possibly having “forgotten something” in our prepping, and having to “do without,” my son and I have this little game we play.
I told my son about how, during and after the Civil War, people in the South had next to nothing. They certainly didn’t have luxuries like coffee, so many resorted to roasting acorns as a substitute. Lots of oak trees down South!
So, anytime he and I are experiencing something like a meal that is not the greatest, we say “at least it ain’t acorns!”
We may all have our “acorns” moments in the months to come, because in the end, FREEDOM IS NOT FREE. But it IS worth the sacrifice.
With regards to stocking up, I have limited resources in this regard, so I have used a new rule in my assessment of exactly what to buy.
My rule is pretty simple; is there a substitute for that?
Example would be coffee. I don’t want to drink acorns, therefore coffee is important. Buy lots.
Milk. Hard to store in the freezer (it’s big), won’t keep in the fridge. Substitutes; evaporated canned, powdered, and powdered creamer (for coffee). Don’t need to store as much.
Bacon; no substitute. GET IT.
This is the way I whittle down my “buy list.”
Think frontier. Bacon, beans, coffee, sugar, salt, some type of fruit and veg. Worked for over 100 yrs!

Look for no rust, to start with. Tight screws and an adjustable mechanism for the grind. Cast iron is best. Some of the “newer” old ones are stainless, which I don’t like as much.

I should mention it feels like a little worm crawling up your vein!
I just got disconnected from the PICC line, although they’re leaving it in for now. They’re switching me to BP pills as a step toward developing a long term therapy. I’m taking a pill cocktail of Lisinopril, Metoprolol, Amlodipine and Hydralazine. Hopefully, we’ll meet some quick success.

It was reported to the pilots that an unidentified snake was loose inside the passenger cabin. The flight in question is 2.5 hrs, assuming no in-flight delays due to weather, etc.
Now, imagine you are the Captain, who is legally responsible for the safety of everyone on board.
If you choose to continue to the destination rather than divert (ie. getting the plane on the ground as soon as possible after being notified of the issue) and subsequently someone gets bitten (or even if they don’t)….whether or not the snake is, in fact, venomous…
….guess whose flying career is not only at an immediate END, but who also winds up under very serious legal jeopardy (ie. imprisonment) for reckless endangerment (at a minimum) up to and including manslaughter (if someone gets bitten and dies)?
It’s not about “being a baby”. It’s about liability and being responsible for other’s safety in a sealed metal tube no one can get out of while traveling 7 miles above the earth.
If you were the CA, and you did not divert, you would be hauled in by HR and the Chief Pilot to answer why you did not. And apparently, your response would be “because I’m not a baby”. So not only would you most certainly lose your lucrative career, there is an excellent chance you would be criminally charged with negligence (at a minimum) as well, if only to serve as an example and warning to other pilots….as has happened all too often in the past.
Btw…the press would also have an immediate interest in the CA who so foolishly and recklessly elected to continue rather than divert, especially if someone was bitten and died. So there is that, too, and all that implies.

My original observation was that people today are babies, if they feelz the need to divert a plane because of a very scary snake in the overhead light fixture.
And it’s not a poor example, it took less than 3 minutes to find a similar example with a very different outcome, where a snake was actually in the passenger cabin, and someone recognized the type of snake, it was dangerous, and instead of curling up into a fetal position and crying, he just captured it.
And the plane was not diverted. Despite being a 2-hour flight, instead the pilot received a priority landing approval after the plane reached its destination.

There’s be a contrary case here if the snake were to be positively identified as (say) a small Burmese python. But we’ve no reason to believe that that happened.
(Burmese and reticulated pythons can get to be gigantic (i’m talking well over 15 feet long) and at those sizes can be deadly dangerous people, but it’s a) unlikely and b) can be managed–other people can unwrap the snake if it actually tries to constrict someone. Of course, that depends on those other people not being terrified of the snake.)
On the other hand, these days even the risk of a non-venomous snake bite–which a snake owner would just shrug off–could nevertheless get the CA in trouble if he doesn’t do the immediate divert. (One could claim people are babies on THIS topic, but that doesn’t mean the CA can simply ignore it.) So unless they’re able to capture the snake and put it in a container and keep it there, he’s pretty much got to do the divert even if he knows for an absolute fact that it’s not venomous. It might not be an issue if the entire passenger roster is clones of Steve Irwin–they’d probably enjoy the flight more than any other they’ve taken–but otherwise, it will.
Now imagine it was 40 years ago, when men were still men, and lawyers didn’t rule the world and every single action taken in the world.
A time when at least ONE passenger on the plane could identify the snake based on the photo, and know if it was dangerous or not.
And if it was dangerous, at least ONE passenger on the plane knew how to deal with the problem.
Instead of diverting a plane, at the cost of who knows how many thousands of dollars, along with missed business meetings, missed weddings, missed funerals, who knows, all because of a snake, who if it is like any other animal, likely wants nothing more than to get AWAY from a large group of humans.

Life involves risk management, there’s no such thing as a ‘risk free’ existence.
The pilot in Mexico (referenced several times above or below) made a different risk assessment about a snake loose on the plane, than the pilot in Asia.
If you don’t like the decision made by the pilot in Mexico, then feel free to go ahead and talk about it, just as I disagree with the the decision by the pilot of the AirAsia flight.

If it got IN there, it can get OUT of there. And snakes are known (to those who own them) as escape artists. So “snake in the light fixture” is only reassuring for the next couple of minutes. If it shows signs of getting out…problem!!!
Reality check – you’re driving the kids and their friends and their snake collection to the vet, and from the back seat “Dad – one of the snakes got out, and it might be the copperhead, but we’re not sure.”

If I’m driving a car, then of course I pull over, immediately.
A car is a much smaller space than a passenger jet. A snake could get lost in the bowels of a passenger jet for weeks and never be seen.
But if it’s in the back seat, that’s a whole different order of immediacy… 😂🤣😂
And you’re ‘trapped’ in your seat, with a seat belt on, so you’re not in any kind of position to move away from the snake or defend yourself.
On a plane, you can get up, move away from the threat, make impromptu tools to defend yourself or capture the snake, or keep the snake at bay, etc.
And stopping the car on the side of the road doesn’t cost anything, and has no measurable impact on anyone else.
Diverting a passenger plane costs tens of thousands (if not more) of dollars, and inconveniences up to 300 or more people.
The scenarios are too different for a fair comparison, IMO 👍
Part of your reasoning (seating) actually explains why the cases are similar, but you need to invoke the known principles of how air accidents (both fatal and nonfatal) happen, by compounding of smaller problems. To avoid diverting the plane, or stopping the car, the pilot / driver must know that the problem is contained or neutralized, and that all passengers are seated for safety. Anything which breaks up safe seating is generation of a new problem. If seating is at capacity, and the snake is guaranteed close to *some* passenger(s), it’s a problem.
The Mexican case worked out because of competent problem containment by free people using logical thinking. A good lesson.
A half-full 747 might have beaten the Malaysian case, IMO, with smart reseating and quick location of the snake, but American Karen attendants would be hard-pressed to solve the problem to the assurance of the captain.
The captain is responsible. You keep viewing this from the point of view of Indiana Jones, passenger. Without him, or Annie Oakley, flight attendant, it’s impossible to assure the captain that it’s under control, IMO.

I just see it from the point of view of someone who doesn’t panic at every sign of potential danger, because I can’t live that way.
I don’t know how anybody can.
If I was on a plane, and I saw a snake inside the overhead light fixture, that would certainly be interesting, something to keep an eye on.
But so long as it doesn’t drop down from the ceiling and make a banzai charge at me, it’s not the end of the world. Stuff happens.
It may even be that snakes are common in that part of the world, and not everybody poops their diapers if they see one.
In the AirAsia case, with everyone alerted to its presence, it’s not like someone is going to accidentally surprise it by opening their luggage and get bitten by a cornered animal.
Worst case scenario, it’s a trained terror snake from ISIS, skilled in the dark arts of attacking large groups of people.
It gets one shot to bite one person.
If it does, while it’s fangs are buried in someone (me or anyone else), it can’t bite anyone else in the meantime, so grab it behind the head, at which point you have control of the snake.
And then you kill it.
If it’s a poisonous snake, I’m guessing you try to suck the venom out, and if you were bitten in the arm or the leg, which is most likely, put a tourniquet on.
Hopefully someone on the plane is a nurse or a doctor.
If it’s a poisonous snake, and someone has been bitten, then it would be a nice gesture to divert the plane to get the person medical attention.
But if it’s just a snake minding it’s own business, crawling around in the duct work of the plane, bothering no one, then diverting the plane for an emergency landing seems like a bit of an overreaction…

I posted a comment, my own view believe it or not, that it seemed like a ridiculous overreaction to divert a flight because somebody saw a (gasp!) snake in the overhead light fixture.
My view.
No controversy, no discord.
Then Fed-Glow & Co. felt the need to be contrary, as he so often does, by making my view out to be some crazy notion that has no place in proper piloty environs.
So at that point there was a controversy.
Not created by me, but created by Fed-Glow.
It took less than 3 minutes to find a real life example that fit my original position almost perfectly, almost as if I had found the example first and then stated my view, knowing FedGlow would take the bait and leap before he looked.
That’s not what happened, but it sure seemed that way, when I found the story about the Mexico flight 😂 🤣 😂
So at that point, all of Fed-Glow’s bluster was just that, bluster.
A professional pilot, a real one, in circumstances nearly identical to my original view as posted, chose a different response to the universe-shattering discovery of a snake on board, than the AirAsia pilot chose.

That approach is the most fun or satisfying by far, to ask a question which your opponent cannot answer, without defeating himself.

We lost some good people during that time, thanks to Fed-Glow, Grandma in Texas being the most recent.

I was casually chatting with a client representative during an audit. He had been in ‘Nam, “dotted-line-attached” to a local outfit (Laotian?). So, he’s schlepping along through this swamp, and asks the translator if this wasn’t exactly the sort of habitat crocs favored….and the translator offhandedly answered, “sure — there’s a couple right over there.”

Haast was largely immune due to antibodies, from both survived bites and self-injections with “baby-bite” levels of venom (which routinely kill kids and small adults).
We’re very lucky here. Most snakes are not venomous, and none of the ones that are, are top man-killers.
It’s even more clear cut here.
It’s either a rattler (very easily identified) or it’s non-venomous.
How high up do the rattlers go in summer? I never worried in the more alpine areas, but maybe that’s not smart.
I haven’t the foggiest idea. They’re definitely endemic along the Front Range which can vary from 5-7000′

I do recall being warned in some areas of southern CO now. It sure looked like snake country!
There’s one butte, visible from I-25 south of Pueblo but north of Walsenburg, that I have been told is rattlesnake city. Not entirely sure I believe it’s much worse than anywhere else though (if it was lousy with rattlers, what would they eat?).
“Alleged Rattlesnake Butte” (my mental name for it) is one only a lawyer could love, but nonetheless when driving in that direction, it’s a landmark I watch for.
Any clifflines or outcroppings are perfect for rattlers – thick with rodents, sunning rocks, and deep crevasses for cooling or wintering. Great place to find ’em!
Hence “The Mile High City”…

It’s similarly easy in CA — except where one might encounter escapees. While it is highly unlikely that a gaboon viper or hamadryad might be released into the wild in California, there is also a high probability that it would thrive there.

One day years ago, I was working in a warehouse building up on a hill here. We had the doors open because it was a really hot day. I went in and out one door several times before I went home.
The next day I came in to find that the management had killed a three-foot rattler that had been hiding behind that door all afternoon!
After that, the doors stayed CLOSED.
WOW. Yup. That sounds like a rattler. They love to manage their heating and cooling, and getting UNDER or BEHIND something is what they do.
Now I’m not one for killing snakes just for wanting to cool off on a hot day, just like me, but I’ve got plenty of equipment to help them move along – either the easy way if they’re willing, or the hard way if they’re not! 😉

I’m not “scared of snakes” but if I don’t know what it is (or at the very least what it isn’t) I keep back.
Here, if it’s in the wild, and it doesn’t have rattles, it’s non venomous. Which doesn’t mean it won’t bite if you frighten or piss it off, just that you won’t die from the bite. But you have *that* hazard from any wild animal (and as far as I know, snakes, at least, don’t carry rabies).
Put me in south east asia? I could probably recognize a python (non-venomous but if very very large [which would make ID positive, nothing else gets that large] not something you want to tangle with without non-ophidophobic help). But not anything else, and I don’t think the Russell’s pit viper has been mentioned yet, so add that to the list.
I’ve come so close to being bitten so many times, over a lifetime, I thank God I missed every one. Mostly copperheads, but some rattlers, and one was huge. Friend of mine not so lucky – small copperhead – ugly edema and bruising everywhere. What a trooper – he bummed a smoke from me in his sickbed, with one arm suspended in the air to heal.
I’m with you – don’t risk a bite without a definitive sign it’s harmless. Knowing all venomous snakes in your region is key! But nowadays with exotic escapes – gotta be more careful.
The vast majority of “exotics” are things like pythons and boas in any case.
I’m not sure of this but I believe a special license is required to keep anything venomous. On the other hand, I’ve seen Gila monsters (venomous *lizards*) for sale, so I could be wrong about that.

There was a time in my youth when I lived with an interesting family for a summer.
At one point, a young friend of the family was driving his car down by a local streetcorner and the rowdy kids were throwing “dirt clods” (about 80% of cooked adobe bricks) at him and put a scratch in his paint. Whereupon the older of the two brothers at the house ducked into his bedroom and pulled a specimen out of a glass tank in his closet, fired-up his motorcycle, went down to the streetcorner, and threw a live rattlesnake into the group of kids.
[Note that nobody had previously known that his collection included rattlesnakes.]
As might be imagined, the phone was ringing off-the-hook when the father came home and tried to sort things out.
When that particular ruckus had mostly blown over, the miscreant allowed that his behavior had been a serious mistake. In his telling, he should have slit the snake’s throat before he threw it…..because the law could only have charged him with “assault with a dead weapon” afterwards.
Hmmmm…..maybe I should google-fu to see if he was ever incarcerated…..
This same kid was ticketed for doing 60+….in a school zone (speed limit 25)….passing a cop….in a designated left-turn lane….that faced the opposite direction.
Probably a member of the “100 Club” on Skyline (SR 35) off of the San Mateo bridge going north past the reservoir, fire station, etc. in the woods, REALLY curvy, and 35 was also pretty much the posted limit…
Bikers really liked it (if they made it through 🙂 ), doubt any cars did, though Rachmaninov (yes, the composer of many of Barry Manilow’s hits) was reputed to drive very very fast along those back roads from time to time… probably was an inspiration to him…
I got to watch once, in the late 80’s, someone’s home video taken from a helmet mounted cam (this was big stuff back then; go pro wasn’t a thing yet). They had checked an entire canyon (in So Cal) to be sure it was free of cops, posted a friend at the entrance to watch for arriving fuzz, then biked it at high speed, multiple times; I got to see the movie. I assume they had CBs or some other means of warning the bikers.
It’s not hard to find, online, videos of “supercars” doing extreme speeds on winding desert mountain roads; speeds I wouldn’t want to attempt in a normal car with normal traction. Posting such is hazardous however, because speeds like that may even be a felony, and you just posted incontrovertible evidence of it online. (In some cases I think special arrangements may have been made.)

All I had was a Datsun 280ZX with ZR tires and a “tuned” suspension… Still, it took a lot of guts to even just double the signs (which wouldn’t make it to 100)… lots easier on a bike…
What was REALLY cool (literally) though, was driving along with the front windows open (not fast, of course) and the fog going through the car… Those times weren’t conducive to the 100-Club, but kinda cool nonetheless. I’d listen to the Brahms cello sextets while I was puttering along (it WAS foggy, after all)…
Paying attention to music and the road in fogville isn’t easy, though…
During that time I was doing a gig TO Adia, where we shared the building with the Lane Publishing company, home of Sunset magazine and their incomparable Garden (and other) Books… I think they probably had one or two of every plant that exists. Incredible “campus”, but gone now… (just like most places I’ve worked…ROLM, etc. ty-d-bowl touch)…
Those were the days… Highway 1 to LA was also a great drive…but slow… one of my ‘SC roommates drove all the way up from LA to Oregon on highway one… not sure if he’s arrived yet 😆

I got quite a few of those, but never actually got infected – just plain lucky. Some of the wounds did heal pretty slowly though.
I think part of my success there was not trying to rip the snake away, when they decided to hold on. Most struck and let go, but some just held on like dummies, and peeling them off slowly and gently was always the key to minimizing damage. Had a few teeth left in me, too – pick ’em out gently and it’s no problem.
Now that I think about it, dogs are pretty great. 😀

They are, however, very pretty. We saw one “in the flesh” while diving with Taveuni Divers in Fiji.
Unfortunately, many of the other divers were Australian travel agents on a junket, and they started swarming toward it with a stack of video gear….so we retreated a bit for safety. It dove toward a reef. Then more agents crowded around it, and decided to pull it free of the coral by its tail. We moved back a ways more and did our best pantomime of “we’re not with those yahoos” in case it was going to come out of that scrum in our direction.

iirc, all saltwater snakes are venomous. And yes, some, if not all, are neurotoxic. Just dreadful.
As you travel W to E in the USA, the fraction within the venom of pit vipers, all the snakes mentioned here, which causes vasodilation increases. True. I don’t believe anyone has a clue as to why this may be.
Out here in the W, it is extremely rare for an adult to be seriously harmed or die by a pit viper strike. The variable of injury is oftentimes panic: it increases the circulation of the venom fraction in the body.
BUT, the ones mentioned here, all more Eastern varieties, can be not only nasty, but very harmful to one’s health.
And it do seem that the varieties which swim at will are the nastiest and most harmful.
Incidentally, these snakes are hemotoxic, and there IS a neurotoxic snake in the USA. That would be the Coral Snake, which is in the same Family as the Cobras. Fortunately, these snakes are very reclusive, and are mostly confined to the SSW. They do not have fangs, but “chew” on small prey, and their toxin enters the wound. Death of said prey is certain.
I do not know the current status or availability of antivenins for these neurotoxins. And yes, they are fast acting.

Good day, folks; my name is Major Stephen Chledowshi. I have served Canada in the Canadian armed forces for 20 plus years.
I hold a first-class honors degree in political science, and I have held several army command positions. I have an urgent message for all Canadians.
For nearly two years, our own elected government officials have been using the bullying tactics of fear, intimidation, coercion, and financial and physical violence against us to gain compliance for certain repeated medical procedures.
We tell our children that bullying is wrong. We know it to be so yet, we allow our leaders to do this to us. They have knowingly and repeatedly violated the highest laws of the land in the Canadian Charter of rights and Freedoms as well as other signed International Human Rights Agreements.
Canadians have been lulled into believing that the same government that suppresses your freedoms in the name of safety will one day just reward you back with your freedoms. If you just comply to ever-changing rules and health orders. That, folks, is the very definition of tyranny, not democracy.
Humans are inherently free; kings and queens and government cronies can give you can’t give you your basic human rights; they are naturally yours. They can’t be given; they can’t be taken; they can only be suppressed. In the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Queen Elizabeth is recognizing in law are fundamental freedoms. The federal and provincial governments of Canada have chosen through a well-planned and orchestrated set of measures to trick and fool and scare you, the very people who elected them and pay their salaries, into complying with the suppression of our basic human rights. They have knowingly betrayed you and me under the lie of safety.
This past Remembrance Day, as I stood in front of the military cenotaph in Fredericton to honor my comrades who gave their lives for others freedom, I overheard the premier of New Brunswick, Premier Higgs, and our member of Parliament Jenica Atwin tell members of the public how special it was that these brave members of the military gave their lives for their freedom. That same freedom that these very liars and deceivers are actively working right now to suppress.
I stood there a soldier of nearly 21 years as a senior officer in the Canadian army, as a veteran of Afghanistan participating in Operation Medusa, the largest combat operation for Canada since the Korean War – where I watched my own brave comrades fight and get injured and die. But I also stood there as a person who hasn’t taken the Covid-19 injection.
The irony so even though I serve this country, and it has been an honor to do so, an absolute honor like many thousands of Canadians who choose body autonomy and pro-choice, I am unable to share in the same privileges now like, eating at a restaurant going out in public to an event or even traveling across provinces to see my child. This is happening to many others; these government traitors to freedom are suppressing the rights of the very people they claim to honor, and it made me sick to my stomach.
These Canadian governments are now focused on our children with a medical genetic therapy proven by repeated medical journals/studies not to prevent Covid infections nor prevent its transmission to others. For our children, serious illness and death are non-existent from Covid-19 unless your child is chronically unhealthy to begin with. Yet, the toxin in this injection will have serious, life-damaging, permanent effects on your child’s health immunity. The fact of natural T-Cell and DNA damage also came to light recently by medical scientist studies. I am calling on the medical community to put an immediate halt on children’s injections until the Canadian public can receive accurate, truthful data from these Covid injection injuries that have already occurred.
The Canadian public has a right to be able to make informed medical choices, especially for little children. To tell them repeatedly it is safe and effective and not give them that choice is a crime, and it’s also genocide.
The media and government must put an immediate halt to all scientific medical censorship and the silencing of health professionals who do not comply with your agenda, as well as hear from Covid injury victims. The Canadian public has a right to hear from those in our communities and families who have been injured by this procedure.
I am calling on my military and police comrades, all of you, all of us, who have sworn a personal oath to protect our family, our friends, and our communities, to now stand up and protect your loved ones against this government forced medical tyranny.
You chose to serve because you wanted to give back to your community, and instead, the government has turned your love for community and your loyalty against you, and you are now a weapon against the very people you love. Brothers and sisters, you can’t be forever for forever changing industry-government measures which use fear and violence and also be for your loved ones and for freedom. You have to choose; I am asking you to choose your family and your community. This is why you serve; this is your moment to be a hero for your loved ones. They deserve the truth; they deserve to be protected.
I am also calling on all Canadian to join in solidarity together. Freedom and love for our community. The Sr. Bushes, Clintons, Baby Bushes and Obamas lined their own pockets and cared nothing at all for the USA.
I moved back to the East Coast in 1990. I visited Canada in 1993. Canada was now our source for farm products. They had all new barns and farms all over the place. It broke my heart after having seen what happened to CA. I did not and do not blame the Canadian people. What happened was the result of our corrupt government selling us out to the British, the Chinese and anyone else they could get a few dollars from.
I was happily surprised by the Canadian truckers and working people standing up to Trudeau and the Cabal.
I knew the Canadians were bringing goods banned in the USA to sell to us in order to get around our trade agreements with other countries. Again, I blamed their government and not the Canadian people. I know Canada is allowing Chinese soldiers to train there.
With all of the current events, I think we need to close our borders with Canada.
I will not be buying things made in Canada now.
This is a very sad decision for me but I see no other way to keep our country protected and to help the working-class Canadian people.
The fact that Trudeau is taking money to kill us with the Covid vaccines is also an act of war as far as I can tell.

I called the number, and the owner of the company answered, he said one of his competitors posted that photo.
He said he and all of his drivers support the Truckers and freedom, that his tow trucks were there not to tow anyone, but to assist with emergency vehicles, and if any car was blocking the way, to move them out of the way for emergency vehicles, but that they were not towing anyone.
He sounded sincere, give him a call and see for yourself!

Summers’s death ” … took everybody by surprise and I’m not sure it’s sunk in yet,” said Dr. William Marx, Upstate’s chief of trauma and acute care surgery.
Marx said he attended a trauma quality meeting with Summers two days before she died. “She looked fine, she didn’t complain about anything and was her usual self,” he said.

Birdchoppers are behind the bee, insect, and bat population collapses, so probably at least partially at fault there. There was a study done on why rotors become less and less efficient over time, and it was discovered that they had greatly increased in mass due to TRILLIONS of insects, bats, and bird bits clinging to the rotors. More weight, less efficient shape, balance off… and NEVER anywhere near the nameplate generating output…
