Thy Will . . . Not Mine
“Thy will be done” is one of the requests in the Lord’s Prayer. In part, Jesus taught His disciples to pray, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9–10). Jesus Himself pleaded for God’s will to be done in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Prior to His crucifixion, Jesus prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as You will” (Matthew 26:39). Jesus was committed to seeing God’s will accomplished, and the prayer “Thy will be done” was a theme of His life.
Most simply, to pray, “Thy will be done,” is to ask God to do what He desires. Of course, we’re praying to the God Who spoke all of creation into existence and Who said, “Let there be light,” and there was light (Genesis 1:3), so we know that . . .
. . . God’s sovereign decree will be accomplished,
whether or not we pray for it.
But there is another aspect of God’s will, which we call His “revealed” will or “preceptive” will. This is God’s “will” that He has revealed to us but that He does not force upon us. For example, it is God’s will that we speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) and that we not commit adultery (1 Corinthians 6:18) or get drunk (Ephesians 5:18). When we pray, “Thy will be done,” we are asking God to increase righteousness in the world, to bring more people to repentance, and to further the cause of the kingdom of His Son.
When we pray, “Thy will be done,” we acknowledge God’s right to rule. We do not pray, “My will be done”; we pray, “Thy will be done.” Asking that God’s will be done is a demonstration of our trust that He knows what is best. It is a statement of submission to God’s ways and His plans. We ask for our will to be conformed to His.
The Lord’s Prayer begins by acknowledging God as Father in heaven. Jesus then presents three requests to the Father: 1) That God would cause His name to be hallowed; in other words, that God would act in such a way that he visibly demonstrates his holiness and his glory. That God would bring His kingdom to earth; that is, that the preaching of the gospel would convert sinners into saints who walk in the power of the Holy Spirit and that God would rid the world of evil and create the new heavens and new earth where God will dwell with His people and there will be no more curse and no more death (see Revelation 21—22). 3) That God’s will would be done “on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). In heaven, the angels perform God’s desire completely, joyfully, and immediately—what a world this would be if humans acted like that!
“Thy will be done” is not an impassive prayer of resignation. Jesus’ prayer in Gethsemane was not passive or fatalistic in the least; He bared His heart before the Father and revealed His ultimate desire: for God’s will to be accomplished. Praying, “Thy will be done,” acknowledges that God has more knowledge than we do and that we trust His way is best. And it is a commitment to actively work to further the execution of God’s will.
Romans 12:1–2 says, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Understanding who God is, we submit ourselves to Him and allow Him to transform us. The more we know God, the more readily our prayers will align with His will and we can truly pray, “Thy will be done.” We can approach God in confidence that “if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us” (1 John 5:14–15).
By faith, we know that praying,
“Thy will be done,”
is the best thing we can ask for.
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen” (Ephesians 3:20–21).
Thy Will Be Done

But when Your Truth triumphs, then sin will cease.
And though we are destined for war and strife,
We look to our future, for You are our Life.
Safety and peace: it’s for those we plead,
But when all’s said and done, it’s revival we need.
May we turn to You for our joy and peace,
For in our blessed future, they will never cease.
We’re not of this world, and so we pray
For Your coming quickly. May this be the day.
Until that day when You come in the clouds,
May we turn to You in throngs and crowds;
But no matter what happens, the things to come,
We pray above all that Thy will be done.

This is a very key concept.
It is impossible for mortals to completely know the mind of God, to know His plans, nor the finer exposition of His will. Accordingly, I tend to pray in constructs like, “if it may be accomplished within Your greater will, I pray that Joe Schmoe survive the cancer that his doctors are treating….”
Were I to just speak from my heart, I fear that I might contradict the deference to God’s will that is repeatedly taught — which would be probably be some form of religious heresy, blasphemy, or tortious interference. Accordingly, I take notes and compose prayers.
It’s my way of showing respect and awe.
And our Heavenly Father knows your heart, and appreciates your efforts.
Even Jesus, in His hour, says at Matt 26:39 “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
Then, at Matt 26:42, He says, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”
If Jesus Himself lays caveats upon His prayers, who am I to not emulate the practice?
That’s where meditation on God’s will comes in. Open your mind and heart and let Him in. You’ll find out all sorts of stuff.
I think presenting your requests before God is always appropriate. Following Christ’s example of “nevertheless not my will but Yours be done” is crucial!
God knows our frame & remembers that we are dust so a sincere(ly wrong) heart is not heresy or blasphemy, imo. Remaining humble & open to Truth & correction is always in order (not that I’m actually personally good at any of that!).

Trumps lawyers get to ask for documents and depose witnesses, which would most definitely include the then-sitting Speaker of the House Nasty Piglosi.
In fact, there is a real possibility that PDJT is HOPING they will charge him with something.
Given this, and at this point, I would consider an indictment against Trump an act of desperation. And THAT’s assuming they could get a grand jury to issue an indictment against a former sitting president in the first place, which I do not think is a given by any means.

Reactions to news about what the other side is doing can seem caustic to the messenger – it’s OK – I invite you to double down and bring more, without fear. Awareness is crucial here. Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.

Thank you for the lesson today, and the poems.
Many years ago, Yours Truly was devastated from watching my mother pass away after her being in the ICU for two weeks. I finally went to a “grief conference” in Northern Virginia that was put on by a group that claimed to specialize in “grief support.” This “conference” was secular in approach only.
I spent three days at this “grief conference”, along with dozens of other people. The theme of the conference appeared to be, “I deserve to be freed of my grief. I get to be freed of it.”
While it was good, in its own way, to talk in “small group sessions” with others who had lost loved ones and what they were going through — what was not good (in my opinion) were the many times I witnessed an attendee being surrounded by conference “facilitators” and badgered into agreeing to take “individual sessions” to the tune of $900. for a package of three.
By day three, I’d had enough. There were a couple of “facilitators” who were trying to badger me into signing up for “individual sessions.” I left and went back to my home.

That is an experience that yet pends for me, losing my parents, & I’m praying that the Lord will continue to renew their youth like the eagles…in His time these things will occur & I hope/pray that no one leaves this life w/ things & relationships undone.

I honestly don’t know. I remember hubby using Chilton’s on many of our previous cars. Now it seems people go online & look up “how-to” videos by guys that Seem to know what they’re doing!
My son Brandon discovered the other day about 2 bolts that could be undone to tilt the engine forward to allow spark plug access on his old car he’s trying to fix up before selling. Up until that info it was assumed the design was so bad on that vehicle you’d have to pull the engine to basically do a tune up–yikes!

Ah, yes, “mud diving in Lake Tenkiller”. It’s unfortunate that you never made it to somewhere warm with 100+ foot visibility.
The viz in Monterey can be highly variable. Sometimes your dive is settling next to a rock and counting nudibranchs because that’s all you can see.

A distro is a “kernel” (BSD, Linux, UNIX….) plus enough stuff for someone to do something with the resulting system. There are distros meant to be nothing but firewalls — Alpine Linux and IPFire — and distros meant as general-purpose desktops.
Collecting all the “stuff” to make a respectable distro means dipping into the world of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software). FOSS developers make software for a variety of personal reasons — they may have corporate backing, they may subsist on donations, they may not need the money and just do things for the glory of doing them, or they may have done something once that they thought was cool and just want to share. Very often, a FOSS project is started when someone is annoyed at a choice being made — and merely takes a copy of what the project looked like before the choice and chooses the alternate. This is known as making a “fork”, as in a “fork in the road”. LibreOffice — which is by far the most popular Office Suite in FOSS — was a fork from OpenOffice, who nobody has heard from in a while. It’s not a flaw in OpenBSD, it’s not a flaw in a unique part of OpenBSD, it’s not a flaw in IPsec — which is used in both BSD and Linux distros. It’s a backdoored VPN system between the left and right hands of the federal government (half of which were probably running Windows).
But it’s very full of buzzwords that can run off all different directions and disappear down rabbit holes.
