MOSCOW, 13 April. /TASS/. Russia introduces mirror sanctions against 398 members of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, congressmen, including the leadership and chairmen of committees, are included in the stop list of the Russian Federation on an ongoing basis. This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, distributed on Wednesday.
“In response to the next wave of anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the administration of [U.S. President] Joe Biden on March 24 against 328 deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, which, taking into account the previously blacklisted Russian parliamentarians, makes up almost the entire composition of it, mirror sanctions restrictions are being introduced against 398 members of the U.S. House of Representatives,” the text reads.
“These persons, including the leadership and chairmen of the committees of the lower house of the US Congress, are included in the Russian stop list on an ongoing basis. Together with other current lawmakers, who, like Speaker of the [U.S. House of Representatives] Nancy Pelosi, was previously banned from entering the Russian Federation , “listing” on the basis of reciprocity is subject to all US congressmen,” the ministry added.
Smolenskaya Square also indicated that Russia, as a response to US sanctions, will soon announce new measures that involve expanding the number of people on the stop list, as well as other steps. “Given the constantly imposed US sanctions, new announcements of Russian countermeasures are planned in the near future, involving an increase in the number of persons included in the stop list and other retaliatory steps,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
It would be interesting to know who the Russians did not sanction, and if this is a move in the larger plan.

Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal broke the news on his account the previous night, describing Musk’s decision as “for the best” even as he warned workers they would face “distractions ahead,” Bloomberg reported late Monday.
The uncertainty left Twitter workers feeling “super stressed” about the future, with employees reportedly “working together to help each other get through the week.”
The report cited interviews with Twitter employees who asked not to be identified while discussing the company’s inner workings. Several employees told the outlet that Twitter’s internal environment was a “s–t-show” after Musk’s deal with the board fell through.

Haven’t cleaned or sold the old one yet. Situation changed little. Currently detoured to taxes. Earlier this evening, detoured to helping Fiancee fix the dishwasher she broke.
I keep going “slog, slog, slog” toward getting out of here and keep getting “fire drill, fire drill, fire drill” from the Fiancee. I need to light a BIG fire under this and get MOMENTUM back.
Disappearing to find that new home might “put out the fire drills”. 😉
Just as a side note, the Fiancee actually has a Family Curse regarding real estate. I thought we got it beat with her mom’s estate and her reconnection with her aunt’s family (estranged for >30 years). Now I’m caught up in it.

Her mom, dad, and mom’s sister’s family built a beach house in the Hamptons for her maternal grandparents. It was passed on in 1/3 interests….and eventually ripped the family apart where she didn’t see her cousins for about 30 years. The family doesn’t do divided interests in real estate very well.
Sad. Inheritances, money truly entices too many folks to act stoopid, inconsiderate, greedy…
Thankfully when my parents (who were divorced) passed on, the six of us brothers and sisters didn’t sweat much of anything, when liquidating their Estates.
Literally sat around a table. executor read the will, giving everyone a copy. Stuff not addressed in the will largely went to whoever wanted it. Ties went to the one with larger need. Those with less, got more. Not a big deal to any of us.
Fundamentally, we know, that we didn’t do anything to “earn” the inheritance. At least, that is my view.
Our neighbor, who moved in about when we did 2 1/2 decades ago, just sold their house for more than $100G more than I thought it would. Our friends in Dallas sold their house for $20G over asking after 3 days & 50 showings. It can be done!
I had a coothie adventure with a toilet (unfortunately during the last Trump rally 😭 ). 3 issues + 2 Home Depot trips created a 4th issue which I finally resolved with teflon tape and channel locks yesterday. 🤸♀️ 🥓 🤸♀️

I have more sprinkler parts than my repairman! 😲🤪😎 (I only call him if there’s lots of digging involved.) The Sprinkler Warehouse is just down the street from me, I’m like a kid in a candy store in that place. 😁 I managed 14 zones at the Church and installed drip/spray systems in 12 raised veggie beds. I have 6 zones at home, Wi-Fi controlled. 🤸♀️🤸♀️ Gotta replace my backflow device, the great freeze of 21 cracked it. I need help turning water off at street, it’s a bear even for grown men.
Unbelievable and grateful that God sent enough rain last year that I didn’t have to run system at all. But I can tell this year’s gonna be different. Need MOAR water. SW gives you a free nice T-shirt each visit. I have so many, so does my family, friends, and Church people, LOL.

We’ve done a lot of drip, which is another set of parts.
Because we had a lot of potted plants that we moved around, I “invented” a portable drip hydrant thingie. We’d take a home depot bucket, set a “U” of pipe into about 1/4 bucket of fence post mix, pull one pipe to just over the rim, do a right angle over the rim, and put a hose connection, put the other side of the U about 8 inches over the rim and put an 8-outlet drip hydrant. When it’s in the middle of 8 pots, you don’t really see it and you can set it up rapidly. You could also do the same sort of thing with a sprayer head and just hide it behind a bush.
I had piped and staked more than 50 drippers in the 12X12 bed and it still wasn’t enough. 😡 (My poor thumbs, and back!) Eff that, I went and bought small adjustable 360 sprayers, I needed the water to go everywhere! The other 8 beds got sprayers right off the bat. I was going to put drippers in the flower pots by all the church doors, but never got brave enough to do it. I would’ve had to tap into the 14 zone system, major pressure. I kept having nightmares of about something going wrong and me flooding the entrances to multiple buildings. Some of those zones ran 40min each. Pots got hand watered. 😉 The garden system was connected to a water hose outlet and in the back of Church with no traffic, when it flooded, it went largely unnoticed.

You sound like my husband’s way of thinking. Everything takes at least Twice as long as pre-anticipated & costs at least Twice as much as estimated. There was the time he was going to re-shingle just one section of our roof w/ ice damage for 3 hours one Saturday…& we had the blue tarps going for Three Weeks & he had to rebuild that section of the roof because the ice dams had caused structural rot. Perils of Northern Michigan living…Fun for a dad of 1-3 pre-schoolers, or not…

Washing dishes by hand is one of the main chores that kids got roped into at my parents’ Cottage in Northern Michigan–great fellowship & learned work ethic. Back when the Okies could join us there were 8 adults & 14 kids & I set up chore charts to divide cooking & cleaning in teams. It was quite the production having each couple supervise the kids doing chores during their meal prep time.
The benefit of that chore chart was Fairly dividing the tasks & everyone not on duty being able to enjoy their vacation. Keeping my mom out of the kitchen was harder than doing the actual needed tasks though 🙂
When my kids grew up we did not have a dishwasher . They washed dishes 3 days a week and I did the rest. Soon one of them helped me drying dishes and one liked the soaps he washed the dishes.
My kids remind me always that I got a dishwasher after they were out of the house 🙂
One yanks the lower tray out so fast it knocks the spraybar off the upper tray. Then you only disengage half the upper tray when you try to pull it out and flip it over to rebuild.

True story — one house we lived in, I had the front bedroom next to the front door, and all the other bedrooms were off a hallway in the back. Also, I’ve never been much of a morning person.
So, when the neighbor girl knocked on the door one morning, I unlocked and opened it in my bathrobe, said, “there is nobody awake here”, shut the door in her face, relocked it, and went back to bed.
Trouble was, my parents had made arrangements to babysit and hadn’t even mentioned them to me — much less arranged to have someone up front to meet her.
This was decades before my sleep apnea diagnosis. Evidently I was able to perform quite complicated behaviors without waking up, even back then.
Out in places like the Carolinas, they have more “natural” pollen apocalypses. In California, they’re largely man-made.
Many types of plants have “male flowers” and “female flowers”. Humans have selected one over the other for millennia. Just as a small example, the plant Cannabis sativa (marijuana) can be grown for its flowers. The male flowers are known for their pollen; the female flowers are known for their sticky “sap” coating them to collect pollen; and fertilized female flowers are known for having a plethora of seeds. The finest recreational “bud” for Cannabis fanciers was “sin semilla” — literally “without seeds” in Spanish. Cannabis fanciers learned early on to separate the male and female plants.
As it turns out, there are very many decorative plants that have male and female forms — and, very often, the females produce fruits. These fruits may not be edible or even particularly obvious, but they do tend to form, ripen, and drop.
So if you’re designing an industrial park or a shopping center and throwing in some basic landscaping to interrupt the concrete and asphalt, you are likely to specify plants that do not drop sticky fruit on parked cars or clog drains with fruits and seeds. If you’re in the Streets Department of a city government, the same issues apply. In short, industrial landscaping is overwhelmingly male plants.
And these man-made environments shed a metric-buttload of pollen into the air. If such pollen were to drift through the female flowers of an incompatible species, the sticky “sap” would help clear the pollen from the air, even if producing fruit was impossible. But there’s not even that happening. Plants in California are sourced from all over the world, and male plants are planted in industrial settings.
Fields that raise hops for brewing beer are all female — it’s illegal in many areas to raise male hop plants unless you are creating new hybrids. I was actually informed by someone who might know that you can graft hop plants and marijuana plants to each other, as they are closely related.
Hmmm.. Make a lot of friends (not); plant figs, Eucalyptus, and olives… maybe a flowering Mulberry or ten…

Ground report on the pet food shortage. I’ve been dealing with this shortage since March 2020, and this is the absolute worst I have ever seen it. Went to the grocery store yesterday and noticed that the pet food aisle was completely bare. It used to be extremely picked over, but now there’s nothing on the shelves at all. Meanwhile, I haven’t been able to find the usual brand I buy in -months- despite checking online every day. I had a sizable stockpile built up, but it’s getting low. Tonight I finally caved and purchased a few different brands in anticipation of switching the food to something else that’s actually available.
If you’re a pet owner, I strongly recommend stockpiling pet food when possible. Maybe occasionally try out different brands so that you have more options available during this shortage.
It’s been the same here, Sadie. When the lockdowns started and all the loons were buying up all the toilet paper and everything else, I had to change brands because there were only 1 or 2 brands available for months. Finally my dog’s brand came back on the shelves, but still runs out frequently. I’ve been stocking up, too. I’ve stocked up for me, so it makes sense to also stock up for her.
Same here. Ever since March 2020, the product is often out-of-stock for 1-2 months at a time. I was able to mitigate it for two years (ugh, has it really been that long?) by making large purchases when it’s in stock and riding out the periods when it’s not available, but not this time.
Tip: I actually found the missing product tonight in a variety pack. It’s only a few cans, but I was planning on trying some of the other stuff in the pack anyway.
mixing some new food in w/ the old in increasing percentages over a few days can ease the digestive upheaval for the pets too.
It should also be noted that the more religiously paleo your diet is, the more you can just share with your canines.
Thanks for the tip. “Digestive upheaval” is the reason why I’ve been hesitant to switch brands until now. It’s why I recommended maybe exploring the (limited) options now in case the shortage gets even worse.
I learned about that the hard way. We gave our exclusively dry food dog a Large can of something without any ease in phase. It came out the other end a soupy mess all over our downstairs bathroom that hubby had to use a spatula & cut in half frisbee to clean up, while I kept the toddlers away. I got to scrub the carpets that were so baptized & of course she chose the only semi-shag area of the house to christen…Live & learn!

By the way after my son’s graduation from Fire Academy a number of us went out to eat. One of his friends told how they were going to have an Aussie friend come visit soon & planned to take him to Outback Steakhouse (Australian themed eatery) so that the wait staff could get pissed off by his accent, thinking that he was mocking them. My son’s friend know how to live on the edge 😉

As a backup, know what table scraps are okay for your pet to eat. That’s what people used to feed their animals. Dogs MAY NOT HAVE most nightshades (potatoes, onions), but meat, eggs, and some other veggies are fine. Ying LOVES fish, too.
No grapes or raisins, white rice and grains are not good either…can cause skin issues and cysts. Raw meat is good, frozen first to kill any parasites. Bananas are good, carrots, apple…
My first dog used to sit there drooling out of both sides of her mouth waiting for anyone’s apple core 🙂

Mixing the food slowly seems to help pets changing food. I had some dogs that were sensitive. Woodford is easy his digestion is great. Still I will slowly change over to new brands of food.
UPDATE: The missing product is now back in stock! I guess the trick to making it come back was to order different stuff and complain about it, LOL. Whatever. I am grateful that the stockpile is now replenished.

If what they say about the “pit” is true, I’d think they are likely stocked up a bit better than others around Mariupol and when they do have to give it up, it’s likely going up in a big bang. Failing that someone might bring in some fast movers to drop some ordnance on it.

It is very sad to see how poorly-taught mathematics has given us a culture of math-challenged citizens.
Yes there is this kind of «mental poison» thing, that algebra (math) is hard and incomprehensible. While if treated as a game with a few simple rules, it isn’t all that much harder to comprehend than some board games. The focus on immediate utility gets in the way, as it is hard to «sell» what the uses of algebra is. Yes, explaining physics and how the world works for those who are sufficiently curious, but what of all the others?
Maybe a return in the direction of the classic concept of the quadrivium and trivium, being something of the basic education for everyone, as part of the process of learning to learn, nevermind any immediate or specific applications, which are inherently limited because they are specific.
Another filk version of Africa, about algebra, but with a positive twist would be useful.
Algebra is actually more about problem solving and thinking ability than math. Same with trig. That was easiest math class I ever took. Geometry, OTOH, lost.
I always loved algebra, & math in general, up until calculus…thinking in equations was helpful in chemistry too, at least at the HS level.

I once knew a man who traveled the world over teaching math teachers how to teach math. He tutored my absolutely brilliant son in math. My son struggled with it, like I did.
My friend explained to me that people have different “math brains,” and that math has to be taught in different ways to different people. I can testify this is true in real life, as the DH and I literally CAN NOT work a mathematical problem out together if we are working on a project. We come to the same answer, but if we try to explain to the other how we got there, it’s like speaking a foreign language. We stopped trying to avert the fighting!
I like the two ways or different ways to learn math. My granddaughter learned it two different ways. She developed her own way and then in school they taught another. She comes faster salving math problems her way but to get the grade she does it the way the school wants it. Have to say both her parents are excellent in math. Both grandfathers also, one was math professor at Washington University . My son in law would sat as kid sometimes in University class and kid at times had the math answers before the students.

That is a problem with many people my husband tells me. In his classes in University the kids have to show how they got their answer. One has to be sequential in logical thinking. Is hard for me but I can do it just brings me to another room I seldom use 🙂

Mathematics begin in the home. My kids were all very good in math. I am not but very creative when I raised them. We counted everything from little on like 2 and before. Make a pie cut it into all the into eights. I had found a Montessori book how to teach it at home. We turned the home into a Montessori home activities and all.
We put to much on the school I believe. If one is a home stay mom one needs to be organized with schedule and interactive with the kids. I am an idiot but have a natural ability with kids and animals. Just comes naturally to get the best out of them.

My cats are 12 plus and still jump like young cats. They do have a large cat post and that keeps them fit. They are all slim and have food out 24/7. I think it is the type of food because some cats in the past were fatter. These cats never get sick it seems we never had them in for sickness. They are rescue cats. Many of my cats in the past were as old as 18-21.
My daughter had a cat was big bon cat rescue. He was 30 lb when she adopted him at 6 years. He never lost weight even though she tried and the vet said just to leave him he was no loosing. He was lazy sit on other cats to dominate them. Was about 15 when he past.
When one has more than one cat seems they are slimmer. They chase each other up and down stairs. When they fight my dogs break it up. They do not hurt them they run in between and it stops.

As I understand it (and I could VERY well be wrong), you do a hostile takeover by offering to buy as much stock as anyone is willing to sell you at ABOVE market value (to entice people to unload it and make a quick profit).
If the Twitter stock price is suddenly dropping that tells me the Saudi news was enough to doom the takeover and Musk might have to stop now since he knows he can’t succeed.

The point being Musk offered more than the stock is worth today…significantly more (where it was last year doesn’t actually matter for a hostile takeover, other than it might convince people to take a good deal now, cut their losses and sell the stock). Yet the stock seems to have dropped anyway even though a man out there said he’d pay $45+ for as many shares as you wanted to sell him.
The response from someone at Twit immediately was “the price is too low, it was $70 last year” … which is why I mentioned it.
Yeah, undeniably if they don’t reverse course they’re going down the drain. It’s too obvious to too many people that the company is hemorrhaging users because it’s not a good platform as currently run.
I’m just trying to figure out why Saudis saying “no” to Musk’s offer is enough to make the stock drop. Since Musk said he’d pay 54+ (not 45, my mistake) a share, that should be its price right now (a stock is worth what someone will pay for it, and Musk has said he’d buy every share at that price, not just enough to give him control).
The only way I can see a drop like this from someone saying no is if it dooms Musk’s takeover attempt and people figure he’ll give up and stop paying $54+.

Best thing to do is a search for the top 20, top 50, top 100, knowing whoever put the web page up may be biased in of themselves. However looking over their recommendations and reasons for justification can likely give you a good idea of whom to try.
My browser (Vivaldi) allows me multiple search engines and I can use anyone of them in a side search, however I can only use one default browser at any one time. Currently I have 10 search engines, but I picked them over five years ago and anyone of them can likely have become compromised in the interim. Example Swiss Cow used to turn out some good results when compared to Duck Duck but now its harder to distinguish their results from others. I should go hunting again. If I did I’d be looking for newer unheard of search engines that still have some degree of popularity, but I think it’s just a matter of time before Deep State Info Dweebs manage to compromise those too.

Yep. My son was basically told, no weightlifting at all, other than normal day-to-day stuff. Walking/running/etc. are OK. No isometric (stretch band, Jack LaLane stuff [remember him?]) either.
His cardio hypertrophy has reverse-remodeled to normal, and measurements, etc. seem OK, but certain sorts of strain aren’t worth the potential problems. Then again, he doesn’t plan on being a weightlifter or professional athlete: he wants to lift the Gospel (as it were) in some way.

March Retail Sales Report Shows Contraction in Non-Essential Consumer Spending
The U.S. Census Bureau {LINK} reports the March retail sales data {pdf LINK} showing a contraction in sales overall (excluding gasoline) and a massive contraction in on-line sales. As we expected, we are seeing the continued demand side contraction for non-essential purchases.
First, when you review the data, keep in mind all of the statistics are based on dollars. Currently the BLS calculates the rate of inflation at 8.5 percent year over year. So, when we look at retail sales figures, we must remember the items being sold cost more. Any reported sales figures in a sector that do not exceed the inflation in that sector, indicates decline in units sold.
The top-line for March retail sales is 0.5% growth; however, the rate of inflation is 8.5%, so the amount of goods sold is substantially less than the 0.5% dollar increase would indicate. Subtract the sales of gasoline (w/ massive price increases), and retail sales are negative (-0.3%) in March.

The Senate now becomes 64-36 Republican. And we still wouldn’t have the votes to convict, even if every single Republican isn’t a RINO and is willing to vote to convict.
There are good reasons to hope for good people to be elected to the house and senate and wreck the Dem majorities. But any thought that we’ll be able to impeach people (and have it actually mean something) is a fantasy.

I know. I just don’t think our government will ever allow that amount of fraud to be admitted and corrected. I’m sure TPTB believe (wrongly, I think) that it would collapse the Republic to admit it happened. So they won’t. We will just move past it like we did with the Kennedy assassination, the Nixon debacle, and “WMD” in Iraq. Those things were known to be false within the same time frame of where we are now with the past election, and nothing was done or said. This will be the same. IMHO.

The second one is scary, that someone that unaware is supposedly our POTUS. I’d love to know what really goes on behind the scenes. There have to be people pulling strings and directing him at all times. This is why I’m skeptical about Elon Musk’s motives for taking over Twitter. One way to read the situation is that alt platforms like Gab are becoming too much of a threat to the Enemy’s agenda, all attempts to shut down the alt platforms have failed, and now they’re trying to lure everyone back to controlled, enemy territory (Twitter) for lack of any other plan.

Gab is already a conservative- and free-speech-friendly platform. Twitter is the opposite, and that is why the idea of Musk controlling it is so intriguing. It would cause major changes in the social media and political landscapes. Musk investing in Gab might reach Torba’s goal of a “free speech internet,” but it would not be nearly as exciting, and I don’t think leftist types would migrate to Gab.
Gab does present another way for Elon to attack Twitter.
I think Musk now realizes that Twitter is basically a social media platform owned by the IC and the global elites. It’s essentially backed by the USG, so it is a rug that could be pulled out from under Elon at any time, even if they did let him control it.
Gab could be turned into the FRESH alternative to Twitter with Musk’s money. I see potential there, if MUSK has a lot of input, which he would.
If Musk can shake Twitter lose from IC control, great, but I’m thinking there is no way in hell they will.
But he’s exposed things. Now we know. Twitter is the CIA/FIB platform.

Boggles the mind all the data-gathering going on and most people are oblivious to it. I don’t know if it’s being done in the USA, but on the bottom of grocery and other store receipts here is a wealrh of information, ranging from date, time, store, terminal, cashier, various validation codes and a GUID to uniquely identify THAT transaction. And the data is there, no matter what the payment method is: credit card, cash, debit card, etc.
Have to wonder if the entire receipt is stored: they can print a duplicate, on request, at least right after the first one… something like store receipts could be compressed pretty tightly in a well-designed DB (OK, I can dream… DBs like that are seen with Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and Elvis at the corner 7-11 😀 )…..

Timken looked the best in the debate, when Mandel and Gibbons acted like drunk roosters doing a male territory dance. She’s also strong on getting men out of women’s sports. She’s the most competent politico, IMO. She is a lady who gets things done.
Mandel is the most pro-Trump. He is a DIE-HARD. But personally, I would love to see him in the Trump cabinet or in a top position of some kind. I’m not sure if he’s SecDef material, but he could be big in DHS, etc. He’s a FIGHTER, and that works better in the Executive branch. THAT is one big reason to pick somebody else – to get Mandel into the Trump campaign and then into the administration.
J.D. Vance stood up for MTG when it was risky. He’s got common sense just pouring off of him in buckets. He would be an excellent pick, too. I think he sees traps and is not tricked into virtue signals.
