Without a doubt, faith is at the core of the Christian life. Faith is emphasized throughout the Bible and is presented as an absolute necessity. In fact, “without faith, it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6). The entire chapter of Hebrews 11 is about faith and those who possessed it. Faith is a gift from God, as we see in Ephesians 2:8–9 and not something we come up with on our own. All Christians have received the gift of faith from God, and faith is part of the armor of God—the shield with which we protect ourselves from the “flaming arrows of the evil one” (Ephesians 6:16).
The Bible never exhorts us to have “childlike” faith, at least not in so many words. In Matthew 18:2 Jesus says that we must “become as little children” in order to enter the kingdom of God. The context of Jesus’ statement is the disciples’ question, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” (verse 1). In response, Jesus “called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: ‘Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me’” (verses 2–5).
So, as the disciples focus on what constitutes “greatness” in heaven, Jesus provides a new perspective: the way “up” is “down.” Meekness is required (Matthew 5:5). Jesus exhorts the disciples (and us) to seek to possess a childlike modesty in addition to their faith. Those who willingly take the lowest position are the greatest in heaven’s eyes. A young child is destitute of ambition, pride, and haughtiness and is therefore a good example for us. Young children are characteristically humble and teachable. They aren’t prone to pride or hypocrisy. Humility is a virtue rewarded by God; as James says, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up” (James 4:10).
Although faith is not mentioned in Matthew 18:1–5, we know that it isn’t humility that ushers a person into heaven; it is faith in the Son of God. A humble, unpretentious faith could rightly be called a “childlike faith.” When Jesus wanted to bless the children, He said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it” (Mark 10:14–15). How does a young child receive a gift? With openness, honesty, and unbridled joy. That type of happy authenticity should be a hallmark of our faith as we receive God’s gift in Christ.
Jesus promoted a humble, honest faith in God, and He used the innocence of a young child as an example. Emulating the faith of young children, we should simply take God at His Word. As young children trust their earthly fathers, we should trust that our “Father in heaven [will] give good gifts to those who ask him” (Matthew 7:11).

Save the Butterflies!
When the distress call was put out, the nation’s gardeners sprung into action. Monarchs breed on milkweed. It’s not particularly pretty, but put a few plants in the garden and they will come. They also feed on flowers with nectar, so plenty of those need to be around. Plant them, and the butterflies will come.
I have milkweed planted in my garden. But I’m probably too far north for Monarchs. I do get all kinds of butterflies, bees, hummingbirds and hummingbird moths, though.
I’ve seen more Monarchs in the last five years than the previous thirty combined. They LOVE zinnias and this one comb flower. A neighbor has a stunning garden with plenty of that stuff in it.
I love comb flowers! My grandmother always had them.

So you will know that as seen from directly “behind” or “underneath” you the earth presents a circle to the sun. (I suggest binoculars to get a sharper image of the outline.)
When there is a future lunar eclipse near sunset or sunrise you can verify the shape of the earth’s shadow from the “side” as well, instead of the sun projecting the earth’s shadow from underneath you (as tonight), it will be projecting from just below the horizon. That’s two different shadow projections from two different angles.
If you see a shadow edge that is NOT circular, the earth isn’t nearly spherical. Of course the shadow edge always IS circular, and the only shape that has that property is a sphere.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

So, You’ve Run Out of Baby FormulaYour child is crying because they are hungry. Perhaps you’ve always used formula, or perhaps breastfeeding went by the wayside after you started working again and had a nasty bout with mastitis. Whatever the case may be, as you stumble bleary-eyed into your kitchen to the bottle station, you realize that you have run out of formula. Panic strikes. You check the cupboard, the pantry, and even the fridge hoping that you have a stash somewhere . . . anywhere. No dice. So what do you do?
What Can You Use as a Substitute?Before the days of Similac and soy-based milk products, infants would drink raw cow or goat milk. Unfortunately, raw milk frequently carried diseases that led to diarrhea, vomiting, high fevers, and compromised immune systems. In the 1920s, industrialization and new preservation processes allowed a number of foods to be sanitized of bacteria and stored for future use. Milk could now be stored for long periods of time safely without refrigeration. Evaporated milk was born.
A Nutritional Comparison of Evaporated Milk and Whole Milk
What Is Evaporated Milk?Evaporated milk is exactly what it sounds like—milk that has been heated to a level where its water content begins to evaporate. Containing only 60% of the water found in typical milk, evaporated milk is milk intensified. This evaporation process concentrates nutrition and fat. In fact, it has around double the caloric and nutritional content of its unprocessed counterpart—exactly what your little one needs to satiate their hunger without compromising their health.
Before you begin, keep in mind that the recipes in this article are for short-term emergency use only and will not provide sufficient nutrition for prolonged use. Use these recipes only when you cannot, for whatever reason, obtain professionally made and nutritionally complete baby formula.

Please remember, though, that this homemade formula is not a long-term solution since it lacks the necessary vitamins. Parents in the 50s and 60s gave their infants supplemental vitamins and iron along with this formula, as noted by Dr. Schuman.

Rice milk has long been used as a supplement for infants and has the added benefit of making your child feel full. When we traveled with toddlers/baby I used Enfimil, what my Mom used it wasn’t as hard on them. Traveling with a baby is a real trip I tell ya .. lol … but worth it 😉❤️

My Dad was a photographer, even had a darkroom .. 😜. There’s a picture he took (8×10 glossie, black & white) 0f the three oldest kids .. firstborn, sister 6, brother #1, 3 y/o … brother #2, 1 y/o lined up my Mom holding a big bottle of some medicine maybe castor oil. My sister had a resigned look on her face, brother 3 y/o had a pained look, brother 1 y/o just looked off into the distance waiting for the dose. My sister being first born was rather defiant for which she was disciplined, I believe after awhile she .. got a clue, but did have other avenues for her righteous retribution on the two brothers. Once we had a full house with more boys than girls she dropped her line of defense back but caution was paramount … it was a “don’t poke the bear” thing.
Actually brother #1 had he head thrown back, eyes squeezed shut mouth open with what was probably intense whining coming out.

Thank you cthulhu, God has blessed us more than we could of ever ask for. Kimi got fired from the school for refusing to vaccinate or be tested weekly and it has been a hard 7 months for us. Kimi applied for a job cleaning vacation homes and got the job after a two week wait and she didn’t think she was going to get hired. The lady who owns the company lives in another state and thought an hour drive to work was to much lol.
Kimi stayed in contact with the lady so she had the local manager interview Kimi and the manager loved Kimi right off.
She will be making double what the school paid her with weekly milage pay for mileage from the warehouse to the vacation homes and back to the warehouse.
God is Great all the time, sometimes the wait for our prayers is a struggle but God will answer in his time…

My post from the super blood red moon eclipse in 2019 is in the sidebar (first of the science posts). The timing is almost exactly identical!! So these two can’t be used as cross checks on each other for “round earth proof” purposes.
Hopefully, everyone is out watching the eclipse set up.
I did a recon, and we seem to have defective trees for eclipse observations….we needed the transparent ones and these are opaque.

This one isn’t crossing almost exactly through the center of the earth’s shadow, so it’s cutting a chord across the circular shadow, which means…shorter distance to travel.

In a way, yes. Earth’s shadow isn’t going to move very much over a few hours (maybe a sixth of a degree against the stars); that movement is an artifact of the earth going around the sun, and it moves at just under a degree a day (365 1/4 days to make a full circuit). The moon is moving right-to-left through that stationary shadow.
The shadow appears to be moving left-to-right (and so does the moon) because of the Earth’s rotation, but the stars are actually a fixed reference (for all practical purposes); they too are apparently moving left to right for the same reason, slightly faster than the earth’s shadow and much faster than the moon’s apparent left to right motion. From that viewpoint, the stars are moving left to right faster, the earth’s shadow is moving a bit slower, but catching up to the moon, which is moving left to right the slowest.
(Note: in Australia and other places in the southern hemisphere all this stuff happens to the NORTH of the observer and the left-to-right, right-to-left descriptions above all need to be reversed.)

Here’s the scale they use to rate how dark eclipses are:
L = 0 Very dark eclipse. Moon almost invisible, especially at mid-totality. L = 1 Dark Eclipse, gray or brownish in coloration. Details distinguishable only with difficulty. L = 2 Deep red or rust-colored eclipse. Very dark central shadow, while outer edge of umbra is relatively bright. L = 3 Brick-red eclipse. Umbral shadow usually has a bright or yellow rim. L = 4 Very bright copper-red or orange eclipse. Umbral shadow has a bluish, very bright rim.I’m calling it somewhere between L1 and L2. 3 and 4 are more typical.
