Brandon (which I will use as a term for whoever is the power behind the Porcelain Throne) has thrown down the gauntlet…but in a way where most of America will never see it. The networks didn’t carry his tirade. CNN air brushed it (or whatever you call editing the red background) for its five viewers (who aren’t trapped in airports).
Luckily for me I live in Colorado, and therefore, despite my best efforts, I probably didn’t vote for Donald Trump.
Of course, for this purpose who I actually did try to vote for will be essential, and they undoubtedly know.

Justice Must Be Done.
The prior election must be acknowledged as fraudulent, and steps must be taken to prosecute the fraudsters and restore integrity to the system.
Nothing else matters at this point. Talking about trying again in 2022 or 2024 is hopeless otherwise. Which is not to say one must never talk about this, but rather that one must account for this in ones planning; if fixing the fraud is not part of the plan, you have no plan.
Small Government?
Many times conservatives (real and fake) speak of “small government” being the goal.
This sounds good, and mostly is good, but it misses the essential point. The important thing here isn’t the size, but rather the purpose, of government. We could have a cheap, small tyranny. After all our government spends most of its revenue on payments to individuals and foreign aid, neither of which is part of the tyrannical apparatus trying to keep us locked down and censored. What parts of the government would be necessary for a tyranny? It’d be a lot smaller than what we have now. We could shrink the government and nevertheless find it more tyrannical than it is today.
No, what we want is a limited government, limited not in size, but rather in scope. Limited, that is, in what it’s allowed to do. Under current circumstances, such a government would also be much smaller, but that’s a side effect. If we were in a World War II sort of war, an existential fight against nasty dictatorships on the brink of world conquest, that would be very expensive and would require a gargantuan government, but that would be what the government should be doing. That would be a large, but still limited government, since it’d be working to protect our rights.
World War II would have been the wrong time to squawk about “small government,” but it wasn’t (and never is) a bad time to demand limited government. Today would be a better time to ask for a small government–at least the job it should be doing is small today–but it misses the essential point; we want government to not do certain things. Many of those things we don’t want it doing are expensive but many of them are quite eminently doable by a smaller government than the one we have today. Small, but still exceeding proper limits.
So be careful what you ask for. You might get it and find you asked for the wrong thing.

It’s really just a matter of people who can’t be happy unless they control others…versus those who want to be left alone. The oldest conflict within mankind. Government is necessary, but government attracts the assholes (a highly technical term for the control freaks).
A Few Things We Cannot Blame on His Fraudulency
I am pretty sure Joe Biden had nothing whatsoever to do with the 30 Years War that ran from 1618-1648 and probably killed about a third of the people then living in what is now Germany.
Nor did he cause the collapse of either Roman empire (Western, 476 CE, Eastern 1453 CE). Nor the ignominious failure of most of the Crusades. Nor the collapse of Bronze Age civilization around 1200 BCE (including the collapse of the Minoans and the blowup of Santorini).
However, my utter lack of ability to imagine how he could possibly be responsible for these things is not a valid argument against them, so I await correction if appropriate.
James Webb Space Telescope Photographs A Planet
Five weeks ago I showed you JWST photographs of Jupiter. The pictures weren’t eye candy by any means, but they serve to show what a difference working in infrared light makes, as opposed to the visual-light spectaculars we’ve gotten from the Pioneer, Voyager, Galileo, and Juno probes (to say nothing of New Horizons and Cassini as they swiped a little mechanical energy from Jupiter on the way to their destinations).
Now JWST has photographed another planet.
Big deal?
Yes. Because this planet is 400 light years from Earth. Which is to say, 4 quadrillion kilometers away. (Quadrillion? It comes after trillion, 15 zeros instead of 12. Metric prefix “peta” as opposed to “tera.” Better get used to that word, our national debt might very well hit a petabuck before you know it…)
By contrast Jupiter is about a billion kilometers from Earth, so basically this planet JWST just photographed is four million times further away.
From earth based telescopes, we have managed to photograph about 20 exoplanets, usually very special cases. I know Palomar, the 200 inch engineering marvel from the 1930s-1950s, came up with a clever trick to be able to photograph some exoplanets (basically, a coronagraph which leaves diffraction rings, but by varying the frequency of light detected, the rings will shift position…whatever doesn’t move is a planet).
It was hoped JWST would be able to directly image a lot more exoplanets than that. Well, it’s certainly going to be able to manage that.

To take these pictures, JWST had to cover the star (which would otherwise be a billion times brighter than the planet) with a “coronagraph” (so named because we use them on our sun to be able to see the corona, or outer layer of the sun’s atmosphere–which normally is only visible during total eclipses). Also, this planet is newly formed and rather hot.
Even so, JWST is expected to be able to take pictures of planets smaller than Jupiter; cold planets the size of Saturn.
I’ve mentioned before that JWST was performing better than they expected. The article I pulled this from put a number to it.
JWST is doing ten times better than expected. TEN TIMES.
Just think about that.
Artemis
The launch of Artemis I that was planned for Monday got scrubbed. Last I heard the plan was to launch it today, September 3, sometime between 12:15 and 14:15 Mountain Time. There are two more windows after this one, before they have to take the rocket back to the Vehicle Assembly Building to await more launch windows in October.
The Artemis program is intended to get us back to the Moon in a big way, at the very least. There’s talk of using the hardware to go to Mars, too, eventually.
There are five to eight launches planned, at least to start with.
Artemis I is the upcoming unmanned launch, the SLS (rocket) putting the Orion space capsule (which looks like a much larger Apollo capsule, with solar panels attached) into a lunar trajectory. It’s going to go to the moon, orbit for a while in a polar orbit (a polar orbit would give astronauts wanting to land access to any place on the moon, including the poles which we know have water ice), and return. There are test dummies on board. (Note: These are not to be confused with the jokers that test software.) We didn’t do this during the Apollo years because the computers on board could not control the spacecraft that well.
Artemis II (2024) will have four astronauts on board, and they will run a lot of tests in earth orbit. It will then be sent on a free trajectory to the moon, but will not land, very similar to Apollo 8.
Artemis III (2025) will have four astronauts on board, and transfer two astronauts to a pre-positioned lunar lander (the Human Landing System or HLS) in orbit about the moon, the lander will then, of course, land. There will be brief EVAs. This crew will have…one person of color and one woman. (Yes, affirmative action quotas have made it to space. On the plus side, I am sure with only two slots to fill and lots of volunteers, the people will have earned their spots and won’t be “affirmative action hires” with all the crap that entails.)

Artemis IV (2027) will deliver a crew to the “Lunar Gateway” space station. Parts of it will have been pre-positioned by other unmanned launches (“support missions”), with a remaining piece brought by this mission…which will use a bigger rocket, the SLS 1B. Lunar Gateway is supposed to orbit the moon and serve…well, as a gateway and a place to transfer to landers. It doesn’t look like Artemis IV will involve a moon landing.
Artemis V and beyond will land astronauts on the moon…and this time, there will be pre-positioned infrastructure put on the moon by support missions. So they’ll be able to exploit pre-positioned rovers, habitats, scientific equipment, and stuff to mine the moon with. In other words, the makings of a moon base!
The support missions will generally be handled by private companies like SpaceX.
This program is open ended. As more support missions are performed, more Artemis launches can exploit them. There’s no definite last mission in mind; they’ll keep going until we get bored (which is essentially what axed Apollo 18-20).
A word about SLS (the rocket that carries people). It’s capable of putting 95 metric tons (also called “tonnes”) in orbit (a metric ton is 1000 kg or about 2200 lbs), or sending 27 tonnes to the moon and back. The 1B that will be used for Artemis IV and onwards can lift 105 tonnes to orbit or send 42 tonnes to the moon and back. Block 2 (which is expected to be available after 2029) will be able to lift 130 tonnes to earth orbit. Beasts, all.
Now if we can just keep Joe Biden from fucking with this…

Now for the controversy.
The lunar gateway station has attracted negative attention from many “space guys” and I am inclined to agree with them. (I have some formal education in this area but zero experience…so their opinion is worth 1000 times as much as mine. I know just enough to know people like Robert Zubrin are worth listening to.) It’s pointless.
Anyone permanently stationed on the Lunar Gateway has no protection against cosmic rays and solar flares. The ISS orbits below the Van Allen belts and inside our magnetosphere, so it’s much less hazardous. This thing…will be a tin can with no shielding. (The moon base can burrow, or minimize the solar hazard by being at the south pole inside a crater.) It’s touted as a way to transfer to the HLS (lander), but there’s no reason that couldn’t be done directly; landers can simply be parked in orbit without being docked to the station.
I mentioned Robert Zubrin before; this is what Wikipoo says about his reaction to the Gateway.
Mars advocacy and Mars Society founder Robert Zubrin called the Gateway “NASA’s worst plan yet” in an article in the National Review. He said, “We do not need a lunar-orbiting station to go to the Moon. We do not need such a station to go to Mars. We do not need it to go to near-Earth asteroids. We do not need it to go anywhere. Nor can we accomplish anything in such a station that we cannot do in the Earth-orbiting International Space Station, except to expose human subjects to irradiation – a form of medical research for which a number of Nazi doctors were hanged“. Zubrin also stated, “If the goal is to build a Moon base, it should be built on the surface of the Moon. That is where the science is, that is where the shielding material is, and that is where the resources to make propellant and other useful things are to be found”.[90]

I should note that I have a certain odd connection to sewage treatment plants…..my dad was very involved in the Donald C. Tillman Water Reclamation Plant in the San Fernando Valley (the grounds of which were “Bill and Ted University” in the film). He was subsequently sent to the Hyperion Water Treatment Plant near Santa Monica Bay to try to remedy its multiple deficiencies. In the meantime, my career took me to auditing several sanitary districts (the semi-governmental agencies that operate sewage treatment plants) — in which I had a great advantage in knowing how they worked.
This dovetailed nicely with my interest in cultivating exotic tropical fish. To successfully raise them, you essentially have to run a wastewater treatment plant inside the tank and dump the more concentrated wastes outside. (And, BTW, anyone who has done this recognizes the arbitrary clampdown on Dutch farmers as what it is).

As of 6 AM ET, they’ve just started filling the main booster’s liquid hydrogen tank. Liquid oxygen is already about 30% full. Talk about gassing up!
Liquid hydrogen/liquid oxygen is the chemical fuel/oxidizer pair that gives the best specific impulse (i.e., force for time, per unit mass of fuel)…”impulse” is the name for a force, applied for a certain amount of time and is not something I covered in my physics posts. So the more specific impulse a fuel has, the more “shove” a kilogram of that fuel will supply a rocket. It’s directly relatable to the mass of the molecules of the expended fuel.
We can do better than hydrogen/oxygen, but only with non-chemical methods of heating to get the velocity of the exhaust higher, e.g., a nuclear rocket heating hydrogen gas.
Many rockets don’t use this combination because it’s difficult to handle–liquid hydrogen is handled at 423 degrees below zero (F) and it takes significant work to produce it and lots of work to keep it from boiling off. Oxygen is warmer (-294 F) but still an issue.
Many rockets just burn kerosene or perhaps combine two rather nasty chemicals that ignite on being mixed (no need for a “spark”). or are even filled with solid propellant (very, very simple but with other drawbacks, like being unable to shut them off once lit).
You’ll see the main engines, below the big tank, light first, and burn for a few seconds. Only when they’re sure they’re working properly do they light the solid fuel boosters strapped on, because once those suckers start, you are committed. You cannot shut them off; they will burn until empty.

OK, I know it’s a bit early, but…..
The internet is a “network of networks” — just as interstate highways were supposed to be highways from state to state. This means that there is a “big network” — the internet itself; and many “small networks” — the pieces that the internet connects. Often, these are referred to as “WAN” [Wide Area Network] and “LANs” [Local Area Networks]. Transport of data between the two is done by routers.
IP addresses are typically indicated by four numbers from 0 to 255, separated by three periods. (I should technically say IP4 — or “regular IP”, as there is now an IP6 that looks significantly different.) For theqtree.com, for instance, the numbers are 194.32.107.12 .
And then, there are special numbers that do special things — for example, an IP address beginning with 127 is a network connection inside your own computer [That might have been scarier!]. A list of several special numbers can be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reserved_IP_addresses .
And, sure enough, we see “192.168.0.0/16” on that list, with the text, “Used for local communications within a private network.” Mind you, there are 65,536 possible IP addresses in that group….if the line had been “192.168.1/24”, there would have only been 256 possible IP addresses.
So the fireside scary story could have ended, “But when she traced the killer’s IP address, it was within her own private network!”

(1) If you know how to get your keyboard detached from the laptop, you can swish it upside-down in distilled water and blow it out with compressed air. This may completely fix it.
Alternatively, many laptops can accept an external keyboard.

One thing about living in silicon valley….printed circuit boards can have surface-mount and through-hole components. In both cases, areas may be masked off with goo, and the soldering can leave flux on the board.
The mask goo and the flux is usually washed off with dionized water, which board manufacturers produce in large volumes for the purpose. For home use, distilled water works just as well.
Essentially all of your electronics have already been under water. It’s just the water was ultra-pure and everything was dried completely afterwards.
And the keyboard likely has one cable connector, which you can hopefully unplug.

Feeling your pain! I’m on a borrowed laptop & lately using a tablet at home, which is better than nothing, which is a pain to this usual desktop user. Hubby got the new part & installed it for the desktop but it’s now having keyboard probs…so problem solving will continue after vacation 🙂

Mini ground report:
I filled up the gas tank in Metro Detroit Wednesday & was a bit below $4.00. Friday, at my exit in Northern Michigan that price was about 5 cents more. However later Friday on a trip to town those prices were 10 cents cheaper than our exit, so would be 5 cents less than Detroit. Formerly prices here were typically 10 cents more than down state.
I hit one rest area on the road trip & the holiday weekend courtesy tent was manned by local Masons. One fella struck up a conversation & mentioned he had 12 great grandkids, also 15 grandkids, & 3 kids! Real salt of the earth types that were pleasant to interface with, & I got a free bagel from their offerings. Didn’t see any face masks at this stop thankfully!
While on I-75 North at one point I noticed what appeared to be evidence of a vehicle fire in the left lane/shoulder area. This was a vehicle size black charring just on the pavement. It made me wonder if that was from an electric car fire. I didn’t notice metal melted nor vegetation issues but was whipping by going 75-80mph (in a 75 zone). I have seen such black patches before on I-75 South, returning from Northern Michigan.
It’s supposed to be pretty hot up here this weekend, during the days, though to cool down at night. We hit 85 today & it’s just under 70 outside now. Good thing we’re by the lake!
We’ve got a larger than usual gathering of extended family as my Aunt asked her family to come for the Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Walk in honor of her 85th birthday (last Dec.); one family from Illinois & the other from Pennsylvania.
This will be the first trip to The Cottage for my oldest son, Nathaniel, with his baby. N “walked” the bridge as a toddler, when I was pregnant with our twins, so is hoping that his daughter’s first bridge “walk” might be a tad bit of a family history repeat. I don’t know if they still give out certificates but we’ve got a pic of him asleep in the twin stroller, that converted into a bed, with his proof of completing the walk tucked alongside. So cute!
Hubby & I actually lived in The Cottage when N was born, so he got his height marked on the wall (door jambs w/ 5 generations of heights of visiting family) at One Day Old. I think his daughter will be the Next Youngest, after N, to get such a mark–she’s just about 9 weeks old now. It’s special to see the next generation coming up & to have these tangible reminders of the changes over the years.
Speaking of changes, hubby’s surmise was right–Our daughter & son in law did want to share their good news before spilling to the extended family. They are expecting their First Child next April, so we’re going to be grandparents again! God is good. They will likely tell everyone tomorrow evening around dinner time when my husband & remaining single son arrive after their excursion in the hunting cabin/shack arena…
Anyway I hope All Q-Treepers enjoy a wonderful holiday weekend with family & friends having safe travels, good food, & fellowship. We’ve gotta keep fighting that good fight, but it’s nice to get a bit of a reprieve every now & then.

He’s got week one under his belt, Praise God!!! He missed the 4th day with a “stomach bug” that really had him down. He’s hanging in there but it’s been pretty rough. His best days were the ones where he got to drive (which was what he was hired to do), one day on a B truck & the other on the A. He really enjoyed the driving & did well!
Driving days, when they become his norm in another week or so, should be good. Warehouse days with major physical labor in brutal heat (or cold in the winter), that is way more problematic for him since his bout w/ heat stroke/exhaustion with that first job, have been quite challenging. Spending about 2 decades in Tulsa he used to handle the heat Way Better than has been the case the last couple of months. I got heat stroke/exhaustion years ago on a return visit to Tulsa & have been way more heat sensitive since then. I wonder if that experience can cause some kind of permanent change to one’s system?
He got an atta boy from a co-worker who said that he appears to be picking up the techniques for rolling the gas cylinders way faster than most new guys do. That really encouraged him. Those excess physical demands have been hard on that 50 something guy…& the longhaulers breathing & heart issues don’t help. Soon we hope to get some Ivermectin to see if that will help.
Next week he’ll likely be in the more office-type setting, w/ A/C!!! There he’ll learn about handling customer orders which will help him know the software & devices that are used including in his delivery & pick up trucking roll.
His steel-toe boots, which he’s worn for months or even years without problems at his old job, are causing him to get blisters. It may have to do with the motions necessary to manhandle 2 gas cylinders. I was hoping he could use moisture-wicking socks that he uses for hunting but he thinks they are too short for the boot length up over his ankles. Maybe when he’s not rolling cylinders for 10 or 11 hours in a day like Mon & Fri it won’t be as big of a hassle.
For the first time in his life, & in my family (that I know of), he’s going to be a union employee. Insurance, & pay scales, are handled by the union. We’ll have a bit of a learning curve on all that…

The unexpectedly rigorous physical demands of this transition into driving for the company have been quite brutal too. He’s drinking a gallon or more of mostly water during the workday but only has to pee once in 8-11 hours there…& he barely ever sweats so has to keep putting water on himself & step in front of the fan periodically to handle the excessive heat!
WOW. Yes. Will pray for physical strength, too!!!

The Marines I used to know had a trick for keeping blisters off their feet on fifty-milers (a fifty-mile hike with an eighty-pound pack is no joke on the feet).
They, and my ex-husband, swore by women’s knee-hi nylon stockings under their socks.
Your husband might want to try it.
Cavers used it too.
The nylon sticks to the skin and DOES NOT MOVE, the socks move with the boots and slide over the nylon INSTEAD OF YOUR SKIN and therefore you do not get blisters.
Hubby has some socks he loves (81% Merino Wool) made in America Sock Company. He has a lot of trouble with his feet due to varicose veins and blood clots.

Val, heat stroke DOES affect future ability to adapt to heat (my experience), AND blood pressure medications exacerbate heat/sweating issues because one purpose is to rid body of excess fluid.
There are great wet/soaker fabrics to wear around neck that do help – amazon carries them, and we use them for outdoor summer activities.
In colder weather, make sure he wears a warm, ear-covering hat, even indoors – greatest heat escape is through our head.

We had the sky periodically lighting up in a very unusual display from at least 3-6 am (no reason why I would know anything happening in such times 😉 ) it was almost as beautiful, in a different way, as the Northern Lights, which I Love, though rarely see…

Everyone has been speculating that the FIB went to Mar-a-lago looking for evidence that shows the Russia-collusion hoax involved Obama, Clinton, and others.
But I think they may have been looking for something else. And they didn’t find it.
Biden’s speech centered around “MAGA” Republicans who didn’t “accept” the election. That’s the heart of it. The ones of us who won’t buy his “installation by theft.”
What if Trump has evidence that is irrefutable, undeniable, and concrete, and they got wind that he was going to drop it? And now they are desperately trying to discredit us all, and the very IDEA that such a thing could happen? To get out ahead of that?
That speech Biden gave just REEKS of fear and desperation to me. They didn’t poll-test it, they didn’t show the set around or people would have flagged that nightmare, they just threw it out there. And people blew up, which they should have KNOWN would happen in advance.
The reason we all love Trump, and he is so controversial, is that he isn’t a politician. He doesn’t poll-test speeches. BUT, life-long swamp scum like Biden DO. They parse every word to be political fodder. They don’t just give a major speech without testing it first.

Yesterday I had a grueling hours long talk with my biracial step granddaughter (bf’s grand) after a minor offhand remark in response to something she said about J6.
I’ll spare you the details but once we got passed the hurty feelz about Floyd,Brown and other crap…it went into Trump and MAGA. Finally was asking about examples…give me examples of this alleged racism….none could be conjured. I asked if she actually understood what MAGA stood for. She knew what the initials stood for but assumed, per indoctrination, that it meant..in essence make America white again. I fixed that misconception.
Finally it went to the corruption of fib,c_a, juduciary, etc…even ukraine. She had no idea of the entrapment schemes, the children of top tier Dems making millions in ukraine.
What if anything made a dent I don’t know but I made sure that she understood that maga is being meticulously painted as villains that best be eliminated by entities that are creating false supposed maga groups that perform for “proof” that we’re bad.

I read the latest this morning from SD about Ron DeSantis, and I’ve got something to say. I’m sure not all here will agree with me.
DeSantis did an interview about the Biden “Nazi” speech. He very carefully navigated through it, not saying MAGA or Trump, but condemning the speech all the same.
We have the most consequential mid-term election possibly in the history of America in two months. DeSantis knows this, we ALL know this.
SD is slamming DeSantis for waiting a day, and giving a moderate response to Biden’s “Nightmare on Chestnut Street” production.
People, there is a time for fiery rhetoric, and a time for political speech. We are in the SECOND TIME right now! We need to get people to vote Republican like their very lives depend on it, because even if they are moronic suburban soccer-Moms who can’t tolerate a fucking mean-Tweet, their lives DO depend on it and we need their damned VOTES!
DeSantis has, in the past, used some pretty fiery words. But two months out from an election, when he is smart enough to dial it down some, people start accusing him of “plotting” to take Trump’s place. This is NOT HELPFUL.
DeSantis is HELPING US right now. He’s being a “politician” when that is what is required. We need to win the mid-terms, PERIOD, FULL STOP. All the fire in the world won’t help us survive the next two years if it prevents that mid-term win.
Won’t we all feel just GREAT if our side is screaming MAGA all the way, but LOSES? Principles are fantastic, but WINNING IS BETTER. And I don’t know about y’all, but I’d like to survive until 2024. We may not if the Demons win in 2022.
DeSantis is being smart. He is very intelligent; that much shines through every day. I’ll turn on him if and when it becomes necessary, but now ain’t the time.
Also, reading comments OT, Sundance is going to get Crist elected.
If that happens, the blame will be squarely on him.
Just curious about Sundance. Do you believe he has that much influence in general and Florida in particular? Is he so popular in conservative circles that he could really convince Floridians to replace a popular governor? I tend to agree with your take that it is not always necessary to have MAGA stamped on your forehead less someone forget. As I have stated at other times I believe DeSantis’s political positions will become obvious when he is wooing a national audience. At this time he has achieved he foundational objectives of becoming a part of the conversation and establishing his name recognition. Those objectives are essential for politicos with national ambitions.
My take:
There are people who hang on SD’s every word. Those people would probably not vote for Crist, but would not vote for DS either.
There are also people who love scandal and also love to have a hero whom they follow (SD) who is right in the face of all criticism. Those people wolud not vote if SD thought DS was some kind of snake in the grass.
Gregg Phillips and Catherine Engelbrecht emphasize that people MUST vote. We need every single vote we can get to overwhelm the cheating by the other side. Even a few votes not cast for DS could make the difference. Anyone telling people not to vote (which SD is NOT doing that I know of) or intimating that 2020 was not fixed, so think hard about it (which I’ve seen from Lin Wood as he denies telling people not to vote) or tearing down the Repub candidate this close to a crucial election (which SD is doing), is working against the best interests of the country.
A non-vote is effectively a vote for Crist. The Anti-Crist, as it were…

It’s a Florida issue, but it has ramifications for the rest of the country. Right now we can count on FL to enact conservative policies and to be a strongly conservative state that would help get Trump reelected. If it turns blue we’ll have a lot more work on our hands. DeSantis has done things that set an example for other governors and I believe has caused some of them to step up to the plate. We need to keep him in place.

I totally understand. I also understand Wolf’s position about not cutting off other conservative voices. SD is a good researcher and comes up with some good points. That said, I have done fine without going there at all. If there is something earth-shattering, others will post it somewhere — as happens with all writers all over the internet. (In other words, SD is not some kind of guru.) I have no desire to check over there every day to see what he is saying. Many times when I do see something I’m left with a feeling of “stating the obvious.” Sometimes, he brings research that is new and in-depth, but I don’t need to follow him and hang on his every word.
For a while people here rarely mentioned that site, but increasingly we have references to what is said OT and links to articles. I know Wolf is fine with that, but, like you, I am flummoxed by it and it gets old. Some people want to post there again, even after all that has happened and the things you point out. It’s as if people can’t let go. “He’s just not that into you,” LOL.

People don’t acknowledge the difficult position DeSantis is in politically. He is MAGA but I don’t think it would be wise for him to jump on that bandwagon because he would look like a Trump wannabe. DS is enforcing policies that are in line with his principles. (And I know that some would like to see him do more in certain areas.)
DS probably has ambitions for the WH, but he can’t say anything right now because of Trump. I think DS would support Trump in 2024 and not run himself. At the same time, he needs to be his own man and show his own strengths.

On August 27, there was a discussion on the QTree regarding a recent order by the Pope regarding the transfer of funds into the Vatican Bank and if you have interest, the following is a little more information that I tracked down:
July 30, 2022….Pope Francis (Jorge Bergoglio) admits that genocide was committed in Canadian Indian residential schools, the majority of which were operated by his Roman Catholic Church. Bergoglio made the public admission to reporters after hurriedly leaving Canada to avoid protesters.
An immediate move was made at the United Nations to enforce the UN Genocide Convention and seek Bergoglio’s immediate arrest as the head fiduciary officer of a criminal body.
Well, the Church had written a new constituion, which ceded more power to the Pope including the finances of the Church and the move by the UN put him, personally, in a very, very precarious position….so what does he do? He makes a new order and he “clarifies” to the Church that the new constitution “must be interpreted to mean” that all the finances aren’t really his responsibility…no, the finances are really (wink, wink) the responsibility of the IOR/Vatican Bank.
And to cover his a$$ on August 23, 2022 the Pope orders the Holy See and all the connected entities to move all financial assets to the Institute for Works of Religion (IOR) commonly known as the Vatican Bank.
“All financial and liquid assets held in banks other than the IOR must be moved to the Vatican bank within 30 days of September 1, 2022.” (come to find out there was money hidey-holed all over the place, including the SwisseBank.)
On the same day, August 23, that the Pope orders all the funds be transfered to the Vatican Bank, the United Nations announces that: a motion to expel the Holy See and the Vatican from the United Nations will be presented before the UN General Assembly when it is re-convened on September 13 in New York City.
According to a UN delegate attached to the ITCCS[International Tribunal into Crimes of Church & State]:
“Our own Genocide Convention prohibits a self-admitted genocidal actor like the Vatican and its diplomatic arm, the Holy See, from being seated at the Assembly. Obviously, Rome is doing a pre-emptive safeguard measure to protect its assets in case anyone tries to put a lien on them for reparations and damages.”
My theory is that this is an overt power play meant to threaten the Vatican & encourage them to speed up the implementation of the UN’s Agenda 2050 within the church communities…..

Linda one could replace Agenda 2050 with any number of social Agendas, but they all require compliance from the people of the world and the Vatican holds the power to sway a great number of those people into compliance using their religious convictions against them.
Take the Covid vaccinations as an example:

Now apply that to Agenda 2050….The church says that removing CO2 helps your fellow man by protecting the people and the church says you need to follow the green energy dictates imposed by your governments because that’s what the curial departments have deemed that God wants………Do you think Joe Smith is going to go out and willingly promote and support the Agenda because his church has led him into believing that he’s following God’s will?

I don’t know how clever the onboard computer is.
“Coronagraph” is one of the instrument modes for at least two or three of the instruments; maybe all the ground had to say was “take a coronagraph at these coordinates” and the instrument knows how to detect, locate (on the sensor) and blot out the blinding light. (That shouldn’t be any harder than half the stuff modern digital cameras know how to do.) Or maybe ground control had to specify where to put the cover.
I *am* confident the star was chosen from the ground (it was known to have an exoplanet), and JWST was given the star’s coordinates as part of its tasking.

Reminds me of the arrested development that occurs when a student stumbles or is led to Henry David Thoreau’s, “Walden”. Yes, I agree, but in everyday life, I wouldn’t know a “transfeminine” from anything else. You can’t make up genders and pronouns and expect people to relearn everything. By demanding our acceptance, they are weakening us, as you say.
