When I was in the 7th grade (late 50s), some science news letter to which the school subscribed had an article about Starlight corn. It was genetically altered to see if they could eliminate a fungus that was a problem.
The article described how they planted a field with this corn, with the caveat that the field was separated from regular corn by (IIRC) a quarter mile to prevent comingling ‘new’ corn with ‘old’ corn. Immediately I had the question of how they could keep the bees from carrying pollen back and forth since the range of bees exceeded that distance.
I raised the question with my science teacher who forwarded it to the newsletter. I do not recall any answer coming back.

Yes, I think journalists have a responsibility to present both sides of a story. But I take it that the point of the meme is that they need to look for facts and report those rather than muddying a story with innuendo that favors one side.
The meme is complaining about journalists who quote both sides, implying that there’s an obvious “correct” side and the other side can be ignored.
That’s EXACTLY what the YSM does to us; they call us wrong (and to them it actually is obvious we are wrong; they are true believers), and either ignore us or pretend to be objective by quoting us, but quote mining to find the dumbest thing one of us said.
Unless it really is an issue you can settle by looking out the window (celibate or non-celibate window, doesn’t matter), I would actually want a journalist to quote both sides, and do it well bringing in their best points, not the best on one side and the worst on the other.

This morning I heard that an early 20s guy who had a stroke in the last year has made almost a full recovery and went skiing last weekend. His parents are ecstatic. Yours Truly: The Armstrong article summarizes the April, 2020 arrest and incarceration in a mental asylum of Dr. Thomas Binder, a Swiss immunologist and cardiologist who criticized the Swiss government’s Draconian lockdowns and other reactions to COVID-19, the undependability of the PCR tests; and the “fear-mongering” of the media.
It appears that two acquaintances of Dr. Binder, who did not like the criticisms he posted to social media, called the police and made false statements to the effect that Dr. Binder was “threatening to kill state authorities.” 60 police officers, including Anti-Terrorism personnel, showed up at Dr. Binder’s clinic as he was finishing up the day’s work and arrested him. After the police investigation showed that Dr. Binder never made any such threats nor was he a danger to himself or to others, the government sent an Emergency Room MD to “examine his mental state.” This ER doctor diagnosed Dr. Binder with “Corona Insanity”, which is NOT listed anywhere in the DSM-5 manual of emotional / psychological diagnoses. Dr. Binder was given a choice: Stay in the mental asylum for “treatment”; or, be released but have to a take a prescribed neuroleptic (anti-psychotic drug) for 6 weeks under government supervision. Dr. Binder chose the latter. For 6 weeks, while he took the drug, he was monitored by the government to make sure he took every dose.
It also appears that a “campaign” was launched against Dr. Binder to portray him as a “terrorist.” Some of his patients left him for other doctors. However, since then, his practice has not only recovered but is thriving.
And this was in Switzerland, arguably a very “intelligent” and “first-world” country. However, IMO, it appears that the Swiss government had no problem with using Soviet Union-style tactics in an attempt to not only squash, but to also “retrain” a citizen who criticized certain actions by the government.

We need multiple ways to challenge EVERY Democrat ballot that comes in, BEFORE the envelope is taken off. The Dems will CHEAT at every opportunity. They will TURN OFF critical examination of ballots at every opportunity. Far too many of their ballots are marginal, unreal bullshit – people who don’t live there anymore, fake people, students gone, multiples on the same person, etc.
I refuse to cheat in response – if we do that, we become UniParty. But if we can challenge their bad ballots, I think we can make them LOSE as they should.
Likewise, every ballot that came in and was accepted, needs to have visibility back to the voter. I want to see my ballot, and know how it was counted. I believe this is possible.
Not too tough. Run off a bunch of cards with sticker halves with identical qrcodes printed on each half. Make sure all the card/sticker combos have unique qrcodes. Have a box full at every polling place.
Voters roll up with their ballots, stick a qrcode on the ballot, and pocket the card. Then put the ballot in the envelope and drop it in the box as usual.

Your REGISTERED ACCOUNT (everybody has just ONE, at a specific email address), which is how you LOG IN, is what shows up as being online, and as having liked comments.
GUESTS – who are people who use an UNREGISTERED email address, or who have a registered email but are not logged in, have their comments appear, but they most likely will not get all the bells and whistles.
The system CAN try to match up people who are not logged in, by checking their email address, and will try to give you the correct avatar, but if you’re not logged in, you’re not logged in.
Finally, this. If you use an unregistered email address, and have not been approved as a guest (by getting taken out of moderation), your comment will automatically go into moderation. Thus, any mistake in a name or email throws the comment into moderation.

Even though his comments are descriptive of Barr it might be better to say nothing beyond expressing your disagreement. The words that come to mind are petulant and childish. He does not broadcast the sense of a person who takes responsibility for his actions.
I have the distinct impression it is an act. His earlier personality does not match.
I imagine he feels that one thing was represented to him when he made this and other hires, but that something else turned out to be true. I doubt that he feels he bears any responsibility. In other words, I bet he feels betrayed.
I think it was Harry Truman who said, “The buck stops here.” I think it is obvious that he does not accept responsibility for the hire. I believe he is mistaken in that conclusion. He has been betrayed too many times to count. However character demands you shoulder the load and go on. That is my expectation for any mentally competent adult.
Let’s see how it plays out — FOG of WAR and we ARE in a 5th generation psychological war.

Well, remember the average person has the attention span of a gnat. They don’t remember what they had for lunch yesterday, much less what Trump said about Barr in 2018.
The way things appear to us, the well-informed and very engaged, is very different from how it appears to the average voter.
I think Trump is trusting and counting on US to stand by him as he does what he feels he needs to do. Trump is ultimately extremely loyal, and that leads to him believing people will be loyal to him in return.
My gripe with DJT is his and Pence’s White House Task Force response to the pandemic – Operation Warp Speed vaccines, Remdesivir, respirators, etc. He was right about Hydroxychloroquine, but did not listen to the doctors about Ivermectin, inhaled Budesonide and other treatments that worked. Big Pharma and Big Hospital Corps. made a killing (literally and figuratively) on the pandemic.
Trump’s weakness were his appointees. Many betrayed him – from VP on down to the military and highest court.

The biggest fight in gay world right now is between “gays against groomers” and the pedo-leaning kiddie drag show supporters. “Gays against groomers” are linked to the “LGB without T” movement, which is analogous to the “TERFs” (trans-exclusionary radical feminists) in feminism. It’s a split in their coalition.
If this guy can be passed off as part of the “gays against groomers”, it weakens that trend in gay world, and shores up the “trans” thing.
