Our Chief Cornerstone
In Matthew 21:44, Jesus says, “He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed.” The meaning of this statement lies in the context of the verse and the larger conversation Jesus was having.
Jesus was teaching in the temple courts when the chief priests and elders approached Him and demanded to know the source of His authority. In response, Jesus asked them about John the Baptist—was he a prophet of God or not? The religious leaders, fearing the people’s response to their answer, refused to reveal their true opinion on the matter. In turn, Jesus refused to reveal the source of His authority (Matthew 21:23-27). In doing so, Jesus made it clear that the Jewish leaders themselves had no authority to judge Him.
Jesus then related two parables concerning vineyards. In the first, Jesus told of two sons who were told by their father to go work in the vineyard. The first son initially refused but later changed his mind and went to work. The second son promised to work, but he never went to the vineyard. Jesus applied this to the religious leaders of Israel, who were like the second son—they expressed agreement with the Father but then were disobedient. The sinners who responded to John the Baptist’s message were like the first son—they seemed unlikely candidates for heaven, but they repented and will enter the kingdom (verses 28-32).
In the second parable, Jesus tells of a landowner who, at harvest time, sent some servants to his vineyard to collect the fruit. However, the farmers who were tending the vineyard were a wicked lot, and when the servants arrived, the farmers beat some of them and killed others. Finally, the landowner sent his own son to collect the fruit, expecting that the farmers would show him respect. But the farmers treated the son worst of all, throwing him out of the vineyard and killing him (Matthew 21:33-39).
Jesus then asks a question: “When the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?” (Matthew 21:40). The chief priests and elders respond, “He will bring those wretches to a wretched end” (Matthew 21:41). Jesus then presses His point home with a quotation from Psalm 118: “The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes” (Matthew 21:42). After a warning that the religious leaders will not inherit the kingdom (Matthew 21:43), we come to the statement in question, which is the culmination of a series of dire pronouncements aimed at the chief priests and elders.
Jesus begins with a question about John the Baptist in Matthew 21:25, but by the end of the conversation, Jesus is plainly speaking of Himself, referring to a “father” sending his “son” who was killed (Matthew 21:37). He then immediately quotes a Messianic prophecy (Matthew 21:42), in effect claiming to be the long-awaited Messiah. The progression is logical: a rejection of John leads one naturally to a rejection of Christ, to whom John pointed (John 1:29, 3:30).
The stone, which “the builders rejected” in verse 42, is Jesus. Although rejected, He nevertheless becomes the “chief cornerstone” (NKJV). See also Acts 4:11; Ephesians 2:20; and 1 Peter 2:6-8. The builders’ rejection of the stone is a reference to Christ’s crucifixion. The Lord’s choice of the stone to be the cornerstone is a reference to Christ’s resurrection. God chose His Son, despised and rejected by the world, to be the foundation of His church (1 Corinthians 3:11). “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation” (Isaiah 28:16).
Now, there are consequences for coming into contact with a stone. If you trip over the edge of a rock and fall on it, you may break some bones. If a large enough rock falls on top of you, you may be killed. Jesus uses these truths to deliver a warning to the Jewish leaders.
The stone in verse 44 is also Jesus. In saying that those who fall on this stone “will be broken to pieces,” Jesus is warning against opposing Him. Defying Jesus is like beating one’s head against a solid rock—a foolish action. In saying that those upon whom the stone falls “will be crushed,” Jesus is warning against ignoring Him or trivializing Him. Apathy towards Jesus is like standing in the way of a falling rock—another foolish action. “I am here to do God’s work,” Jesus essentially says. “The foundation for the church will be laid. It is unwise to oppose Me because God’s work is not inconsequential.”
Rejection of the Savior is fatal. Unfortunately, many do reject Him. “He will be a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall” (Isaiah 8:14). To persistently reject the Savior is to court judgment so severe that the only thing left will be dust. The prophet Daniel gives a similar picture of the Messiah, likening Him to a rock “cut out, but not by human hands,” which smashes into the nations of the world and completely obliterates them (Daniel 2:31-45).
Matthew 21:44 is a call to faith, an appeal to open one’s eyes and see that Jesus is indeed the Son of God sent into the world. The verse is also a strict warning against rejecting Jesus Christ. He is the sure Rock of salvation for those who believe, but an immovable stumbling stone for those who do not.
For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know Him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

I interpret it to be talking about our earyt settlers. They didn’t have foreigners in mind when they settled this country. They were surviving for themselves and their progeny. By contrast, we are being led to think that people who have been hostile to us, or those who disagree with our basic principles and want to change our society, are deserving of the fruits of our labors. “One world,” one form of government, one religion (which is no religion), etc.
People who are friendly, who come legally as new citizens or as visitors, and who don’t try to change our principles and culture are welcome.

You allude to an interesting question. When did Western Civilization finally halt its advance across history and begin its retreat? From my perspective it had to be sometime in the late 19th or early 20th centuries. It is not clear to me what killed its advance but it is most likely self-inflicted. The second question is more intriguing: What country will be the final redoubt of Western Civilization? My kneejerk answer was America but after some thought it may be Russia or one of the Eastern European countries. I suppose time will tell.

This is why I can’t stand it when the NRA says we should concentrate on enforcing the laws we already have. That’s an implicit endorsement of the “gun control” we are already saddled with. They won’t fight to undo it. And that window keeps shifting anti-gunward.
I think the phrase describes one’s instinct – to be a law and order type. Not literally.
Well, what that really means is you don’t want to violate others’ rights.
In an ideal world, laws would match up with rights, and maybe make some arbitrary choices for convenience. (For instance, mandating the right side of the road. It really doesn’t matter which side, honestly, so long as everyone uses the same side…so the law chooses for us and tries to ensure we all go along with it.) But “law abiding” becomes a cruel lie when you’re respecting other peoples’ rights but still violating (improper) law.

Not sure how that would of worked. I should read the story. From here I’d think the garbage trucks belongs to the recycling firm? And the ones at fault are particular tax paying customers putting their trash out for collection. Seems like the recycling company is pushing on the city and the city is pushing back on the on them. Ultimately they fix individual behavior or they comp the recycling firm which seems what is really at stake.
There are garbage/recycling firms that contract with cities to handle garbage/recycling. The firms own the trucks, so they can use them in any city with a contract.

He seems to be under the impression that Ukraine / NATO is in the right in this conflict, when Ukraine/NATO are the bad guys, i.e., Cabal.
I didn’t hear him mention that Ukraine forces (not including NATO criminal contractors who are doing all the high tech weapons use) are compelled to fight, they’re conscripts, last I heard.
And he doesn’t seem to grasp that ‘doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result‘ isn’t a flaw of the Nazified Ukrainian regime, it’s a FEATURE.
Whatever WEF / NATO / china / Hussein are up to, it’s on purpose. So if forcing all the fighting age men in Ukraine into suicide missions against the vastly superior Russian forces is what is happening, it’s on purpose.

Why isn’t that a war crime?
Unless they renounce their native citizenship and become Ukraine citizens, they should wear their own native country uniforms. It’s not as if wearing Ukraine uniforms is going to do them any good on the battlefield.

Respectfully disagree. I think he nails it exactly. The “support” he needed, IMO, is an understanding of how thoroughly phony our reality has become at every level. People on this site have that understanding. Most people, even MAGA people and other patriots, do not.
Our side is at a distinct disadvantage in that respect, probably the ultimate disadvantage. It is just not in the psychological makeup of most people to even consider what Whittle describes in this video. What he describes is just too anomalous, too outside our experience, to comprehend, let alone to realize that we are that easily duped.
Where we disagree (I think) is on what Whittle is doing. He is not trying to prove a phenomenon, he describing how the phenomenon works. IMO he perfectly describes what is happening and how. It certainly comports 100% with what I see happening.

It depends on what you are trying to do.
For example, I have a Google Voice number. I can set it to forward a call to my cell phone, my work phone, and my home phone number. That way I can give people one number to reach me at all locations.
I can also use the Google Voice app from my cell phone to make outbound calls from my regular cell phone.
I have an old cell phone that’s not on the network. But I can use Wifi on the phone with Google Voice to send and receive calls from that phone.
In theory, I can do similar things with my MagicJack account.
I guess the real question is what problem are you trying to solve?

How many battles ON THE RIGHT has Trump had to fight? Almost every time it’s been necessary to maneuver people into showing who they are and letting the mask slip.
Trump didn’t do it directly with SD. But he did do it with Q.
And the Q posts got under SD’s skin in a way no one else and nothing else did. He wasn’t getting the scoops. He wasn’t getting the credit. And mostly, he wasn’t getting the glory that was necessary to feed the bottomless need for his narcissistic supply.
I’m not attacking SD. This is just who he is – a character flaw he is blind to and that keeps tripping him up. He could be truly great if he would embrace some humility.
I think asking if “Q is legit” is still the wrong question. Objectively, a person/team posted under “Q”. That person SEEMED to have an inside track into things and had unusual access to information.
When I was working with threat intel, we’d get our hands on messages sent by “Anonymous” the hacker collective compromised by the IC. We don’t read “Anonymous” by asking if they are legit – we read those reports to ASSESS a THREAT to feed our RESPONSE and SECURITY POSTURE.
The fact that “Q” identity is unknown, combined with the style of postings (certitude) created psychological credibility. Also they manipulated the gambler’s effect with the one-armed-bandit – which we know well has been manipulated by social media giants for years.
But at the end of the day, Q could easily be a 24 year old w/ a phone. Who happens to be hired by Trump and supported by military intelligence. There’s no reason to blow up “Q” into this super-human identity.
Yet that’s where SD went with it. Psychologically he turned this 24-year old w/ a phone into his own nightmarish vision and perceived him to be a threat to his reporting, his website, and his following.
SD literally went CRAZY. Because Trump’s superpower, even through “Q”, is making people CRAZY.

I hear these pastors talking about this or that talking point from the culture wars. They say JUST the right thing to make the congregation agree with what they’re saying.

They’ll say things like “We need to be the salt and light in the culture and be the witness for Christ” and may even talk about “we are in a culture war, and we’re losing”
But if you suggest doing ANYTHING that would resist the slide, anything that would engage the culture war… oh heck no. They won’t support you. In fact, they will make sure you become a pariah at church. They will retaliate against you.
Because too many of these pastors want everyone to THINK they are the head lion of the pride – but they can’t abide anyone else competing with them (unhealthy toxic behavior) or being bold lions themselves.
Stephen the martyr was a deacon at the church. He wasn’t killed by the religious leaders for serving tables. He was killed because he preached the truth boldly, ferociously, fearlessly.
Our churches can’t abide Stephens in the church today. Our leaders are afraid of bad publicity (oh no, not that!) and lawfare. But we need an army of Stephens who are engaged today.

I think this highlights an issue perfectly. What a segment believes ought to be done cannot be done, and cannot even be discussed. The leaderless and disorganized in this respect have no means to get organized and find leaders.
And everything that can be discussed is futile except in the most incidental sense.
I find this to be a valid conundrum. JMO, but I see a lot of fulmination and little problem solving.

There will be no problem solving taking place until the problems become a real and present danger to those who are currently comfortable. And until they are aware enough to realize it.
Effectively, that means boomers.

Until or unless their positions and wealth are credibly threatened, they’re not going to do anything, or solve any problems, or rock the boat in the slightest way.
They have too much to lose.

It is those who are suffering, and who need relief.
One might think or dare to hope that those who are comfortable would be moved to action on behalf of those who are suffering.

I can barely conceive of such a scenario.

This is the perspective that has me often write a reply and then decide not to post, theoretical proclamations which have no connection to reality.

I was shocked at the number of people in our church that moved away from associating me when I stated what is and what we need to do about it to counter.
I got the deer in the headlights to panic looks. They want their faith played out superficially, about one inch deep. I told our pastor that three years ago before all the COVID mess hit. He agreed, then proceeded to change nothing and pander to same old cliques. No challenges to their beliefs, faith lives, family situations, work situations, etc.
The same people who then proceeded to whine week after week, take their COVID jabs, get sick and die, complain about the government and world, whine some more, etc. etc.
Now they want to talk about it and hear what I have to say. Want to be spoon fed it all.
Nope. Already said it and did what I needed to do. If you want to know, watch and learn. If not, good luck to you. Will pray that you wake up, listen to the Lord, and make changes in your lives that reflect you got what He said and did.
People in positions of power or authority generally have much to lose, and so are rarely willing to risk losing it by engaging.
