Gas stoves are more efficient than electric ones.
Why it matters requires thinking about the electricity mix.
Solar and wind energy provide most of the marginal power on a green grid.
The backup power is provided by natural gas.
The net effect is obvious. Instead of burning gas for heat directly where it’s needed, natural gas is used to generate electric power (less efficient), which is then sent over transmission lines (very inefficient) to electric stoves that convert electric power into heat energy (inefficient).
Once you see it, you see that in a carefully targeted approach, eliminated gas stoves have the net effect of INCREASING gross demand for natural gas.
Increased demand means increased prices, which would have made T. Boone Pickens very happy.
But when you cut off the domestic supply channels and are invested in Ukrainian gas companies, you can maximize profit in a big way. . .

As a code reader, most changes are made because people died at some point. Then the codes are adjusted to prevent additional deaths.

They are not working in our best interests.

It blows my mind (in retrospect–I didn’t realize it at the time) how much of the advertising on Saturday Morning cartoons was for freaking breakfast cereal.

When I was a school kid in the 1950s -60s. The only two kids who were overweight later turned out to have thyroid issues.
We did not have candy, sodas, junk food as a everyday component of our diets. We got OJ, milk, eggs bacon for breakfast and a salad, a green veggie, meat and a starch (Potatoes, peas, lima beans) for dinner.
We also got kicked out of the house to play, run, ride bikes. NO battery operated little cars — ours had pedals, NO ATVs we rode pedal bikes….
NO TV except ONE show IF all our homework was done. NO Computers, NO IPhones…

If this is a lie, Schlapp can get some pretty good money very easily. He presumably knows who the accuser is, or can find out. He will get either a retraction or money.
IMO, Schlapp seems to be doing what I would expect a guilty but smart person to do. Deny until it “goes away”. Don’t deny too hard – deny enough that the victim avoids the legal process.
If Schlapp is innocent, and he wants to avoid the legal stuff, he should set a time limit for the source to deny it through some media outlet, in return for dropping it legally, before he will drop the hammer on full legal pursuit.

The guy drove him to and/or from an event, and Schlapp called and texted him. He knows exactly who he is. What the guy describes is grooming behavior: tell him you want to talk about furthering his career, take him to bars and buy him drinks (maybe to “soften him up”), approach him sexually when you are alone on the drive. It’s textbook.
I want to see Schlapp produce evidence that this didn’t happen as the guy said, that they weren’t drinking at bars together or that if they were it was strictly platonic, or some other detail that shows the guy is lying. That would put the whole thing to rest without anyone having to file a lawsuit.

This Highway seven “hill” connects Santa Cruz with the greater San Jose area. I drove this road for 7 yrs going to and fro from work. There are many curves on this road, all of which are banked incorrectly, and the “hill” is one of those stretches many locals in various locales call their “Blood Alley”. I have seen many multiple-car collisions, and landslides are not uncommon. Given the heavy rains in the area, these do not surprise me.
Periodic heavy rains are not an oddity: I have seen cabins floating down the Santa Cruz River…which incidentally flows through the city. Aptos and Capitola are old stomping grounds, and my heart goes out to these communities who have been so heavily hit. They are not among the most capable of handling such carnage.
Local governments are far more likely to be in pursuit of wokeness than emergency and community policies in response to such flooding and destruction…the entire area prides itself on being sorta laid back.
From what I hear the Bay Area will get the worse of the incoming storm, so prayers up for any loved ones in this general area. These rains have been unimaginable to these people.
I used to drive a stripped-down 1986 Nissan Sentra, and we used to take it over 17 on our Monterey diving expeditions. Fully loaded with dive gear and the two of us, the car handled like a pregnant cow on quaaludes going up the hill.
Funny thing, though, the route between Los Gatos and Santa Cruz is about 25 miles long, but “the hill” is only five miles of it. Thing is, the hill leaves you so rattled that you scarcely notice the rest of the road.

From experience, you want to be upright so that you can dodge or deflect falling items. When Loma Prieta hit, I was home in bed recovering from a cold. I jumped upright and stood on the bed and surfed it out. I was in an upstairs apartment over other apartments over underground parking, so things got pretty wiggly.
My next-door neighbor had just gotten home from work. He kicked-off his shoes, took off his slacks and put them over the back of a chair, and padded into the kitchen, where he started to pour himself a drink over ice….when the refrigerator jumped him. As the ground heaved and the building swayed, he got it in his head that he needed to be somewhere where nothing was over his head — like the fish pond our apartments overlooked. So he fought his way around the corner, threw open the door, and lunged down the stairs as they pounded him between the railing and the wall. He made it to the bottom of the stairs and halfway up the hill to the fish pond, when he realized that the shaking had stopped…..and he was bruised, in his dress shirt socks and boxers, clutching a 1.5L bottle of whiskey, standing in the landscaping.
Laying down in an earthquake is just begging to have things piled on top of you.
He had recently married, and all of their wedding crystal ended-up broken where he had been pouring his drink. Being elsewhere worked out for him.

I really think this is the answer we seek with PDT. He suspected, he was inclined to believe, etc. He did not KNOW. It’s the only answer to his performance that makes sense in my mind. He knew his past and what skeletons he needed to bury before running. He did so very well IMO. OPINION: I came to a different conclusion. My conclusion has nothing to do with ignorance to what was happening. I think that Trump is afflicted with the same weakness I have. He wants to trust people and he can’t imagine that those people would deliberately exploit or destroy American citizens for their own selfish reasons. Trump is naive about these people and their intentions. What this leads to is a man who continues to believe even though a mountain of evidence comes to light. In some ways it is what afflicts a large number of Americans who still believe that the people in their government are not corrupt. It is an extremely deep-seated character trait that stubbornly persists. I know from experience how difficult it is to “throw-off” such a bias. Finally, contrary to what some might suggest it is not an inability to admit you are wrong but a residue of an upbringing where you lived and developed in a family characterized by trust and love.

Transplanted organs usually require drug therapies that suppress a person’s immune system. If the vaccines already induce immunosuppression I suppose they would not be a particular danger to a transplanted organ unless they create the suppression by a different mechanism that leads to further damage. I do not know enough about the immune suppression aspects of transplant medicine to hazard and educated guess.

Our doc says Dr. Case works a limited schedule, but tailors it the way that works best for the individual patient and I KNOW that works. Grandson, wife, and me – all success stories. Starting tomorrow, add our daughter and son-in-law.
Will give mine as an example. I was unknowingly in Stage Two spinal degeneration with a compressed lumbar region, some curvature and bone spurs. I also had an atlas out of alignment. It primary starts with my hips getting out of alignment. I started with her three months ago. My left hip was higher than level by 13.58 mm. It is supposed to under 1 mm. As we age that is harder to get done. However, she has reduced it to 2.38 mm in those three months. This has brought the lumbar spinal alignment well within the 1 mm. I no longer have any pain in that region and can touch my toes again as a moderately overweight (until spring) 68 year old. I’m cleared to golf and do whatever I want. My atlas has reduced from 8.4 mm to 2.8 mm, which she is very pleased with. No neck pain. What I used to blame on sciatic or disk problems – was really just being out of alignment. The spurs would cause the pain and dig into surround tissue. The spurs have stop growing and the spacing in the vertebra are widening, which is a great thing. I go bi-weekly for a month and then once a month for two months and will have finished the 6 month plan. Will just do maintenance after that.
Our doc handles adjustments on current patients as old as 94 years of age with all sorts of physical issues. I’m sure Dr. Case does as well since they went through the same type education and training and have great respect for one another. Our doc even read our grandson’s MRI scans for us to confirm what the neurologist was telling us.
He needs to go. He will see and understand for himself when she does the x-rays and evaluation. Good luck!

I’m in Upstate NY and it’s very hard to find chiros trained in the Activator Method, which works best on the upper cervical. My son drives 4 hours to and fro to have his A’s and C’s adjusted via the activator.

Once the perp is down and/or clearly no longer a threat, what is the justification for continued use of deadly force?
But worse, from the officer’s standpoint, if you empty the magazine, and another perp subsequently presents himself, you’re standing there with an empty gun.
The time it takes to reload or reach for a backup gun might not be enough time.
But beyond all that, as far as I know, the ‘good guy’ in this case is not a police officer, so ‘standard police officer involved shooting’ rules wouldn’t apply, if the shooter had no knowledge of them.
Generally, the standard for a civilian is ‘what would a reasonable person do in the same circumstances’, not ‘what would a trained cop do’.
And what a reasonable person would do certainly depends on knowledge, which is why people who teach self-defense courses recommend reading one or more books on the use of deadly force, in order to be able to prove personal knowledge at trial, if necessary.
Because the jury is going to be instructed to use the ‘what would a reasonable person do’ standard, and if you can prove that you have read a book on self-defense, then that book (and the knowledge contained in it) can be submitted as evidence.
In other words, what a jury might consider as ‘reasonable’ (or not) for someone who hasn’t read a book on self-defense could be entirely different from what a jury might consider ‘reasonable’ for someone who has read a book on self-defense.
For example, many self-defense trainers and authors teach that someone with a knife, even if 21 feet away, is a deadly threat which may justify the use of deadly force, because it has been proven that a person can cover that distance in a surprisingly short period of time (under 3 seconds, IIRC).
If you haven’t read a book explaining that, a jury, not knowing it either, might not consider your shooting someone threatening you with a knife from 15 feet away as ‘reasonable’.
If you can show that self-defense experts teach the “21 foot rule”, and you were aware of that information, then the jury has to consider what is ‘reasonable’ under the circumstances to someone with that knowledge, in which case shooting that person with a knife from 15 feet away is reasonable, by definition.
Someone without the knowledge of the 21 foot rule might be convicted, because if you didn’t know about the 21 foot rule before the use of deadly force event, then you can’t claim or present that knowledge at trial. If you didn’t know it prior to the event, then it wasn’t a factor in the decision process to use deadly force.
Someone who can prove knowledge of the 21 foot rule, and therefore can introduce that knowledge as evidence at trial, should not be convicted.
Because what is ‘reasonable’ to someone with knowledge of the 21 foot rule is different than what might be construed as ‘reasonable’ (by a jury) for someone without that knowledge.
But if you can’t enter the information about the 21 foot rule as evidence at trial (because you weren’t aware of it before the incident), then the jury will never learn about the 21 foot rule anyway.
