Since Bud Light first announced the partnership earlier this month, the company has already lost at least $6.65 billion.

Nope, those all have the crimped-on bottom.
The bottom is a separate piece of metal somehow crimped onto the bottom of the can. Today’s cans are just two pieces, the top and everything else, with no seams on the everything else. Those older ones have an attached bottom and a seam along the side.
Yes, they all have what might be called ‘crimped on’ tops and bottoms.
In beer can collecting though, at least when I was a kid, a ‘crimp top’ can always referred to the (then new) cans from the late 1970s (I think) when they started to ‘neck down’ the top and bottom of the can, so a lid and bottom with a smaller diameter than the main body of the can was needed.
See how the can sheet itself is straight (isn’t ‘crimped’ inward at the top and bottom) all the way to both lids on the older cans?
And see how the can sheet is ‘crimped’ or ‘necked down’ to create a smaller diameter than the main body of the can, where the lids connect to the can sheet, in Giloo’s post that you replied to, and the first Old Style can in my reply to your post?
Here is a link to an eBay search for ‘crimped top beer cans‘. Apparently there is a little confusion, as there are a couple of ‘straight body’ cans in the list, but all the rest have the visible ‘crimp’ in the can sheet at the top and bottom.

The current two-piece, no seam except where the pieces join are much, much lighter than the old style; that’s likely why they went that way, to save on materials. Also, once they could simply make the walls and bottom out of one seamless piece of metal, the sheer amount of work to produce a can declined significantly because two seams were eliminated. And it’s probably less likely to fail, every joint is a liability from that standpoint.

Exactly. ‘Crimped’ is a word that was/is used by many in the can collecting hobby to describe pull tab cans with the ‘necked down’ area where the lids attach, even if it isn’t a technically correct term 👍

Agreed in principle, but in practice, since they have gone SO cheap, the thinness of the metal sheet is a bigger liability than crimped (your meaning) lids ever were.
There are lots of full cans still ‘out there’ from the 1950s. They’re not common by any stretch, but they’re not rare. Many of these cans have big dents in them, and still hold their contents.
By contrast, at least twice and maybe three times in the last few months, I have bought a 12 or 18 pack of canned Pepsi, only to get it home and open it, to find that one or more cans has leaked most of its contents, due to the side of the paper-thin can rupturing, even if just a pin-point rupture, from ordinary shipping and shelf stocking activity.
And whatever you do, don’t drop a modern ultra-light can on a concrete floor.
Old ‘straight’ edge cans could handle that with no problem. LOTS of surviving cans, both full and empty, have the dents in lids and bodies to prove it.
So fewer failure points should be more sturdy, but they don’t make stuff like they used to!

It’s a certainty that the schools will never teach them how to count to 38, much less 38 thousand.
I was just reading a (printed on dead tree) article by a college professor.
He can no longer require his students to read The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand (much less analyze it), or The Federalist Papers. Or write an essay. He’s having to give his exams as “short answer.” They’re almost all totally incapable of it; only a handful of them can do it.
What do they really care. They are getting 25K a year to babysit.
And confuse young skulls full of mush about their sex and the hopelessness of their future, while summing it all up with your parents are bad and its all whitey’s fault.
I didn’t have a real computer until I was in college (a 386 SX-25), so all of my papers were written longhand, and transcribed using a typewriter or by going to the computer lab to transcribe my handwritten papers.
Even after I had my own PC, the habit of writing everything out longhand and transcribing it persisted for a while, because ‘composing’ on a keyboard was a foreign experience. The thought process didn’t flow the same way as it did writing in cursive, probably due to differences in speed and because different areas of the brain are probably being accessed. Since I had never composed using a keyboard before, I had no neural pathways established for that function, for lack of a better way to say it.
So it was frustrating at first, and not easy like it always was when writing longhand. Like trying to learn how to write with your non-dominant hand. But the time savings from only writing something once, by composing on the computer, eventually compelled me to get comfortable with it. I didn’t like it though 😂
It may be that due to social media, many people today live in a world of expressing themselves in 280 characters or less (like Twitter’s message length limitation), or otherwise primarily express themselves in brief shorthand messages, e.g., mobile phone text messages.
They may have no practice or regular experience in long(er) form writing, like we all do here, every day. It’s easy if it’s normal practice, but like anything else, if one doesn’t exercise their mind in a way that involves complex expression, it’s going to be difficult to do it as a one-off, on command, like one would experience during an exam or essay paper.
Written expression requires organizing one’s thoughts in a coherent manner, and even though the process is more or less on autopilot when you’re used to it, the process is still complex. It is one thing to ‘know’ (or think we know) something, but it is a very different thing to be able to articulate and express something in a way that other people will understand.
I suspect that if most of one’s communication has become very brief in nature, as a matter of daily practice and habit, that it would also be easy to get out of practice with regard to complex thinking, a necessary precursor to complex expression.
It would be even worse, if one has never developed the capacity for complex thought or expression in the first place.
In my sophomore year at college, I managed to impress a freshman girl with her very own TRS-80 computer. Since we were a couple until I graduated, that meant that the great majority of my college papers were composed on a word processor.
Being naturally lazy, I’d do all the reading for the papers and then do a large stream-of-consciousness verbiage dump. After sleeping on it, I’d do a rough reshuffle to put it into logical order, then go through and do a thorough rewrite. I found the “pre-draft” version would have stirring and near-poetic phrases that I would never have come up with during more detailed wordsmithing, and would be a good guide as to what things were actually interesting within the topic.
I should have done it that way 😂
I was used to longhand, and since longhand is time consuming, I tried to get it as right as possible on the first try.
I did some minor editing when I transcribed onto the PC, but mostly it was the same as the original longhand composition.
It was not until I began participating in online discussion forums several years later, that it began to feel natural to write in a regular conversational style.
It wasn’t so much conversational, it really was more “stream of consciousness.” Then, again, every so often I’d wake up the next day and find something like —

But the potential for other types of damage is inherent in these “vaccines.”
Once the spike protein + its mRNA of the “vaccines” enter the human body, things begin to happen:
** It’s been proven through in vitro experiments that the “vaccines” can start to change the DNA of the LINE1 human liver cell line in as little as 6 hours after “vaccination.”
