Interesting. I find the sublingual (Direct to the blood stream) works the best. A B complex has zero impact. Other reading indicates some people have difficulty absorbing B12 via the gut esp as they age.

Hubby did a 50 mile hike along the shoreline of Lake Superior about a year & a half ago. Some new guys plan to join him & his previous hiking buddy to repeat that challenging trek, over 5 days, again this fall. They are in bear country up there too so every camping spot has bear proof storage where food is to be placed overnight. It’s gorgeous, though challenging, terrain to cover in that Northern “paradise” 🙂

Yeah, there are hardware hazards too, not just software.
I’ll describe:
Qubes does NOT automount thumbdrives. Depending on your setup they may get passed over to a Qube named sys-usb…which also does not automount them. You have to manually assign the thumbdrive to a specific qube…and even THAT doesn’t automount (unless you go out of your way to set it up). You can then (finally) mount the thumbdrive, manually (actually issue the Linux command to mount). A lot depends on what you did to set up.
Yeah, that can be a bit of a pain in the ass, especially when you trust the thumbdrive because it’s one you’ve owned for years. So I’ve actually just automated this to the point where I can click on an icon, and the thumbdrive will be assigned to the Qube and mounted instead of my having to issue commands on two different Qubes. But note that’s still a process that requires you to do something affirmative to mount the drive. And the Qube is disposable; if it gets pwned just close it and it’s gone.
This is totally unlike something like Windows, which just goes ahead and mounts the dang thing.

Monday saw the largest banking failure in the US since 2008 after First Republic went under, marking the third death of a US bank this year. Regulators took possession of the bank this Monday and JPMorgan Chase will acquire the majority of the bank’s assets and remaining deposits worth around $92 billion. First Republic Bank’s stock fell nearly 50% after reporting a significant drop in deposits in the first quarter of 2023. First Republic’s stock value tanked 97% on Friday due to fears of a bank run or failure, and the executives were silent on the health of the bank because they knew they were doomed. JPMorgan Chase coming to save the day is not a good sign.
All of these small and mid-sized banks are struggling with liquidity. The larger banks are gaining more power and influence. JPMorgan Chase’s CEO is nothing like the man who founded his company and actually saved the US from a banking disaster. CEO Jamie Dimon is a World Economic Forum member who fully supports the Great Reset. He wants the US to invoke eminent domain in order for the government to seize your private property.
These are his words, not mine. Dimon noted in his letter to shareholders that “governments, businesses and non-governmental organizations” may need to invoke “eminent domain” in order to get “adequate investments fast enough for grid, solar, wind and pipeline initiatives.” He is adhering to Agenda 2030 and believes that our freedoms need to be removed under the excuse of climate change. “The need to provide energy affordably and reliably for today, as well as make the necessary investments to decarbonize for tomorrow, underscores the inextricable links between economic growth, energy security and climate change. We need to do more, and we need to do so immediately,” Dimon added in his letter.
I will not be surprised if Jay Powell mentions CBDC this Wednesday just to get the public accustomed to the idea. All of these issues can be used as an excuse to implement CBDC as the “safe” alternative to traditional banking. It would be easier to implement if there were only a handful of banks working with the government. The US has never canceled its currency but every empire, nation, and city-state falls in the same manner. The plans for the Great Reset are out in the open and the WEF has infiltrated nearly every government cabinet in the world and bought out the bankers. The day will come when the government gives us a deadline to turn in our paper currency to be converted into CBDC, providing them with complete financial domination over the people.

The first two were part of Operation Chokepoint 2.0, targeting crypto-friendly banks, to choke off the main entrance and exit ramps for fiat onto crypto exchanges, and vice-versa.
It looks like First Republic Bank was given a $30B cash infusion around the same time to provide well-connected depositors an opportunity to remove their deposits first, and only then was FRB allowed to collapse on schedule, just before the weekend, to then be sold in a sweetheart deal to Jamie ‘Epstein Island’ Dimon, at JP Morgan, before the Asian markets opened on Monday.

I have heard that many local coin shops are low on silver coins, but there should be plenty of supply at the larger online dealers.

The others listed at compareSilverprices.com should probably be fine too. It’s always a good idea to do a quick Better Business Bureau search before buying from any bullion dealer, just to make sure they don’t have a bunch of recent complaints, which might indicate they are going under.
And it also doesn’t hurt to order from several different bullion dealers, to diversify the risk, just in case. If a shipment goes missing the dealer should make good on it (they should be insured, and if you don’t receive the package, they should be on the hook for it anyway), but it would take time. By ordering from several dealers, you would minimize such risk.
[note: at least a few of the larger online dealers should have free shipping on orders over $100]
With silver spot price surging at the moment, this may not be the best time to invest a lump sum.
If you are nervous, and it would help you sleep better, you might consider layering in, i.e., buying in tranches over a period of weeks or months.
For example, to use a round number, suppose you had $10K that you wanted to invest in silver (or gold, I’m just using silver for this example).
You might invest $1K (10%) today, just to have something, and settle your nerves. Or maybe invest half of the initial amount ($500) today and wait to see if the current silver spot price ($26.10/oz) drops back to around the $23 to $24 level by Monday, before investing the second $500.
If you invest all $10K in at once, and the price drops by a couple dollars per ounce over the next week or month, then you’re underwater, and you always start underwater anyway, because you pay a premium over spot when you buy, but when you sell, you won’t get as much (or sometimes any) of that premium back from the dealer.
So if you were at a coin shop, and you paid spot ($26.10) + $1.40 premium for a 1oz generic silver round = $27.50 for 1oz of silver, and then before leaving the shop you decided to sell it back, he may only give you current spot for it (i.e., $26.10 or whatever spot price has changed to since you bought it).
So you would need the spot price of silver to go up by almost 5.5% to $27.50 just to break even.
With sovereign coins (American silver Eagle, Canadian silver Maple Leaf, etc.) the premiums over spot price are even higher, much higher currently for American silver Eagles, at $48.14 per 1oz coin, or a $22.04 premium over spot!
I don’t want it to sound complicated, and it’s really not, it’s just a matter of familiarity with the basics.
I want to be helpful, and I suspect most people who are not too familiar with the basics would just want someone they trust to tell them what they should do, because it’s no fun trying to learn when it feels like the pressure is on.
But most people either don’t want to do that, or you get all the disclaimers (e.g., not financial advice, consult a professional, etc.).
I don’t know your particular circumstances, but I can say what I would probably do.
I would try to resist the urge to invest all at once. Even if dollar cost averaging over a few years isn’t a realistic time horizon (e.g., if I didn’t want to wait that long, due to concern that a crisis of some kind might occur sooner), I would at least try to spread the investment out over a period of a few weeks.
I would probably pick three of the major online dealers, and open an account with each, which should be as easy as signing up for any other website, just picking a user name, a password and entering an email address.
Maybe do a test purchase at each dealer, at whatever amount / threshold is needed to qualify for free shipping, usually $100 or $200, but it changes depending on demand. I think I read that Apmex raised their minimum purchase to $500 recently.
I would buy generic rounds in the current environment, because it looks like the premium is only about $1.50 over spot price, compared to $22+ over spot price for American silver Eagles, or $7.61 premium over spot price for Canadian silver Maple Leafs.
If I was only buying a couple coins just to have them, the premium wouldn’t be a big deal, but if I intended to buy any quantity, the premium per ounce adds up fast., so I would be interested in products (generic silver rounds or bars) with the lowest premium over spot.
Yes, sovereign coins (American Eagles, Canadian Maple Leafs, Austrian Philharmonics, UK Britannias, etc.) are more liquid in the sense that they are internationally recognized, probably qualify for retirement accounts, etc., but silver is still silver, and in a crisis, any private mint generic silver round should be liquid at any online dealer or coin shop or pawn shop, etc.
At the moment, $10K would buy about 208 American silver 1oz Eagles, or about 364 generic silver 1oz rounds.
I would rather have the extra 156 ounces of silver for the same fiat dollar price.
Suppose six months from now, silver goes to $100 per oz.
Even if a dealer was willing to pay a $20/oz premium for American silver Eagles (if I had them), at $122 per coin, that would be $122 x 208 coins = $25,376
Not bad for a $10K investment.
But even if the dealer is not paying ANY premium for generic silver rounds, at $100 per 1oz generic round, that would be $100 x 364 generic 1oz rounds = $36,400
The spot price of silver is fairly volatile lately, so if I had a significant amount to invest, I would try to do it in several smaller tranches over a period of several weeks, so as to avoid buying at a local or short term peak.
Another advantage is that if there is a sudden drop of several dollars in the spot price — which is always possible — I would still have dry powder to go all-in and lower my average cost per ounce on the early purchases made at a higher spot price.
Generic silver rounds come in all sorts of designs. Here is a sample page from Provident:

It shouldn’t really matter, but I would probably choose generic rounds that looked similar to sovereign coins, like the Indian Head design or the Morgan silver dollar or ‘Walking Liberty’ design, or the Saint Gauden design, just because I like those traditional designs.

Analysts I follow are mostly bullish on precious metals, seems like nearly everybody is (which of course could be seen as a contrarian danger sign), but I have one guy who thinks the market resembles right before the crash in 2008, and he’s expecting silver and gold to drop 20% or more with the rest of the market, he just can’t predict when, whether it’s days, weeks or a few months.
If that happens, precious metals should rebound quickly, but expect it to be volatile with considerable price fluctuations for a while.
