Doing those things in a state, especially a state with a Republican legislature, is not terribly difficult. All one has to do is have the thought to do it. And I believe it is entirely possible that the powers that be are whispering “do this” in DeSantis’ ear to convince people he would be a great President.
But would Putin listen to him, fear him, respect him? Would the Saudis stage a sword dance to flatter and honor him? Would he fearlessly step across the border into North Korea, having first labeled the leader he walked in with “Little Rocket Man?” For me, I highly, highly doubt it.
The President of the United States is not a governor-type job. Our President must be respected and feared on the WORLD stage. When he isn’t, well, we end up where we are right now. Or in Afghanistan and Iraq. Or Vietnam. You know the drill. I just hope the rest of America does. Wind Sock Ron would be a disaster as President. He is just another weak Repuke failure waiting to happen at that level. He doesn’t have the balls for the job.

For me, it’s not an emotional reaction to his style. It’s a visceral objection to what I feel is manipulation as I read. Regarding the piece we’re talking about here, you couldn’t find a better example of material that could be used in a demoralization campaign. It’s subtle enough that (I suppose) many don’t see it. But what that article leaves us with is that no one in our government, even the so-called good guys, has good motives, that they are all part of a money-making machine and are reporting their findings to us for that purpose only, and that none of it matters. He doesn’t state that last part outright, but that is the impression the article leaves.
Well, bummer. [Insert Eeyore here.] Nothing encouraging, nothing uplifting, no gratitude that finally someone is exposing the corruption (which would not be happening if Repubs did not have a House majority).
Most importantly, no analysis of what the revelation of the information that is coming out might have. Because, despite that fact that no law enforcement is going to do an early-morning raid on the JB family, it IS earth-shattering and IS having an effect on the political landscape, here and internationally. Phoenix – I’m going to say this as kindly as I can. I am not unemotional in our fight, but (whether it shows or not), I practice – when I choose to invoke it – complete control of my emotions. “Logical thinking”, as Q always advocated.
I can “go Spock” at any time I choose. And when I do, I can see other people’s emotional errors. This is extremely useful.
Take the Russia / Ukraine conflict. I choose this example because this is one of your most emotional topics.
It is incredibly useful to analyze materials related to it while being able to get past emotional attachments to one side or the other. I can call propaganda by either side exactly what it is – propaganda. People who can’t do that – who bristle at the mere calling of propaganda for what it is, when it is coming from “their” side – cannot see certain things. And I’m being very blunt in saying that many people on both “sides” can’t see certain things. They may be right about a subset of things, but IMO they cannot be correct about many things, that a purely logical position CAN be aware of.
I am utterly and completely aware of every criticism of Sundance that people make here. It’s not like I ignore their comments. EVERY comment that I “like”, has been READ and UNDERSTOOD, and usually agreed with, to some extent, from some perspective. I actually USE those thoughts and criticisms to carefully evaluate what Sundance says.
However – and it pains me to say this – I see SO MUCH uncontrolled emotion here, regarding Sundance, and I see it blinding people. Because of that emotion, I can see people “reacting badly” – ignoring things that favor their own viewpoints – or even more bizarrely, adopting positions that contradict their normal inclinations. And – as far as I can tell – it’s due to emotion.
I have also seen people (some of whom are no longer here) get very smart when they “got past” Sundance’s “triggering qualities”, and began to pay attention to his key points in spite of their feelings.
IMO, this is part of why Christ advocated forgiveness – to enable us to see more deeply into problems, where the enemy truly lies.
Sundance – like most of us – is a very flawed person. However, he does certain things well, if one digs past all the stuff that people criticize. I choose to dig past that stuff – just like I do with everybody who has an opinion.
Logical thinking helps me do that.
I’m not saying that anybody here has to be any less emotional, or more logical, than they are. I’m not even saying that they SHOULD be different in any way. Freedom means that people can be exactly the way they are, and nobody can legitimately tell them to change.
I’m just explaining why I see the importance in so much of what Sundance says, while utterly ignoring all the negatives that do exist for many people, and send those people into a rage.
I hope that explains why I’m neither “loyal” nor “disloyal” to Sundance.
I am in complete agreement. I go to SD’s site for information, not to ‘follow” him. Sometimes he is spot on with something I agree with or brings stuff I did not know about. Other times he sounds like a petulant child and will beat a dead horse into glue. He’s a guy with a keyboard and a following.
As an example I’m not particularly enthralled with his “silos” concept. It’s a cop out. Each alphabet and department knows what the others are doing. Some even share staff and operatives. All of the staff attorneys and IGs of each agency and department talk with each other because many of the duties overlap or otherwise connect. Many of the govt employees change jobs between departments frequently throughout their careers. They go to lunch ,dinner, parties ,etc. together. It’s a big club with smaller groups within the club performing functions that keep the club in power.
Been there, done that. He’s not going to sell me on the silos.
I disagree on the silos. On that, I am quite sure he is correct. It’s a turf war playing into the pissing contest concept. Basically, sand box level.

One example is the 2023-2024 Travel Catalog from National Geographic Expeditions.
The gist is that you go to places and use the National Geographic on-the-ground connections…..or can go full boat and have one of the National Geographic authors as your guide.
Mind you, I have my own connections to many of the places I might like to go. If I were going to Costa Rica, I might consult with Dr. Ron Coleman; if I were visiting the Zambian Coast of Lake Tanganyika, I’d want to coordinate with Ad Konings…..but NG has little trips to Costa Rica starting at $5,495 for nine days. This is far more reasonable than prior years.
Of course, they still do the prior year versions — e.g. “Cultural Wonders of Africa / A Journey by Private Jet” — 23 days starting at $99,995. How the blazes they tagged me as someone potentially willing and able to shell out a hundred grand for such a trek is a complete mystery. I don’t even subscribe to National Geographic anymore.
And, seriously, “Yosemite National Park / Private Expedition” — 7 days from $5,195? How can you possibly splurge over $700 per day in Yosemite? I have to suspect there is some toe-sucking involved…..

I disagree. The point of the ad is to change the perception of women regarding beer from being eye candy to the REAL history of women in relation to the product. Ignorance of history is what is leading to the condemnation of the ad. I don’t like the crap inferences, and wonder what the marketing team was thinking, but do support the collection of ephemeral marketing material for destruction with some archiving happening just to preserve the objectification of women.

My grandmother, Mary Meier, was retired and watched all of the Watergate proceedings. In her memory, I am reading the entire Durham Report, adding the meaning of acronyms on first occurrence, and will add any questions or note conflicts along with sourcing. The PDF is 316 physical pages. We might need an archive page for any tidbits. Yes, much we already know. However, I feel satisfaction finally seening some things reported formally that we have long known about.
The following is on logical page 8 (physical page 18) in the Executive Summary.
“Our findings and conclusions regarding these and related questions are sobering.
State of Intelligence Community Information Regarding Trump and Russia Prior to the Opening of Crossfire Hurricane
As set forth in greater detail in Section IV.A.3.b, before the initial receipt by FBI Headquarters of information from Australia on July 28, 2016 concerning comments reportedly made in a tavern on May 6, 2016 by George Papadopoulos, an unpaid foreign policy advisor to the Trump campaign, the government possessed no verified intelligence reflecting that Trump or the Trump campaign was involved in a conspiracy or collaborative relationship with officials of the Russian government.21 Indeed, based on the evidence gathered in the multiple exhaustive and costly federal investigations of these matters, including the instant investigation, neither U.S. law enforcement nor the Intelligence Community appears to have possessed any actual evidence
of collusion in their holdings at the commencement of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation.
As set forth in greater detail in Section IV, the record in this matter reflects that upon receipt of unevaluated intelligence information from Australia, the FBI swiftly opened the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. In particular, at the direction of Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, Deputy Assistant Director for Counterintelligence Peter Strzok opened Crossfire Hurricane immediately.22 Strzok, at a minimum, had pronounced hostile feelings toward Trump. 23 The matter was opened as a full investigation without ever having spoken to the persons who provided the information. Further, the FBI did so without (i) any significant review of its own intelligence databases, (ii) collection and examination of any relevant intelligence from other U.S. intelligence entities, (iii) interviews of witnesses essential to understand the raw information it had received or (iv) using any of the standard analytical tools typically employed by the FBI in evaluating raw intelligence. Had it done so, again as set out in Sections IV.A.3.b and c, the FBI would have learned that their own experienced Russia analysts had no information about Trump being involved with Russian leadership officials, nor were others in sensitive positions at the CIA, the NSA, and the Department of State aware of such evidence concerning the subject. In addition, FBI records prepared by Strzok in February and March 2017 show that at the time of the opening of Crossfire Hurricane, the FBI had no information in its holdings indicating that at any time during the campaign anyone in the Trump campaign had been in contact with any Russian intelligence officials.24
The speed and manner in which the FBI opened and investigated Crossfire Hurricane during the presidential election season based on raw, unanalyzed, and uncorroborated intelligence also reflected a noticeable departure from how it approached prior matters involving possible attempted foreign election interference plans aimed at the Clinton campaign. As described in Section IV.B, in the eighteen months leading up to the 2016 election, the FBI was required to deal with a number of proposed investigations that had the potential of affecting the election. In each of those instances, the FBI moved with considerable caution. In one such matter discussed in Section IV.B. l, FBI Headquarters and Department officials required defensive briefings to be provided to Clinton and other officials or candidates who appeared to be the targets of foreign interference. In another, the FBI elected to end an investigation after one of its longtime and valuable CHSs went beyond what was authorized and made an improper and possibly illegal financial contribution to the Clinton campaign on behalf of a foreign entity as a precursor to a much larger donation being contemplated. And in a third, the Clinton Foundation matter, both senior FBI and Department officials placed restrictions on how those matters were to be handled such that essentially no investigative activities occurred for months leading up to the election. These examples are also markedly different from the FBI’s actions with respect to other highly significant intelligence it received from a trusted foreign source pointing to a Clinton campaign plan to vilify Trump by tying him to Vladimir Putin so as to divert attention from her own concerns relating to her use of a private email server. Unlike the
FBI’s opening of a full investigation of unknown members of the Trump campaign based on raw, uncorroborated information, in this separate matter involving a purported Clinton campaign plan, the FBI never opened any type of inquiry, issued any taskings, employed any analytical personnel, or produced any analytical products in connection with the information. This lack of action was despite the fact that the significance of the Clinton plan intelligence was such as to have prompted the Director of the CIA to brief the President, Vice President, Attorney General, Director of the FBI, and other senior government officials about its content within days of its receipt. It was also of enough importance for the CIA to send a formal written referral memorandum to Director Corney and the Deputy Assistant Director of the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division, Peter Strzok, for their consideration and action.25 The investigative referral provided examples of information the Crossfire Hurricane fusion cell had “gleaned to date.”26
The Crossfire Hurricane Investigation
Within days after opening Crossfire Hurricane, the FBI opened full investigations on four members of the Trump campaign team: George Papadopoulos, Carter Page, Paul Manafort, and Michael Flynn.27 No defensive briefing was provided to Trump or anyone in the campaign concerning the information received from Australia that suggested there might be some type of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians, either prior to or after these investigations were opened. Instead, the FBI began working on requests for the use of FISA
authorities against Page and Papadopoulos. The effort as related to Papadopoulos proved
unsuccessful. 28 Similarly, the initial effort directed at Page was unsuccessful until the Crossfire Hurricane investigators first obtained what were designated as “Company Intelligence Reports” generated by Christopher Steele. As set forth in Sections IV.D. l .b.ii and iii and in brief below, the Steele Reports were first provided to the FBI in early July 2016 but, for unexplained reasons, only made their way to the Crossfire Hurricane investigators in mid-September. The reports were ostensibly assembled based on information provided to Steele and his company by a “primary sub source,” who the FBI eventually determined in December 2016 was Igor Danchenko.
Our investigation determined that the Crossfire Hurricane investigators did not and could not corroborate any of the substantive allegations contained in the Steele reporting. Nor was Steele able to produce corroboration for any ofthe reported allegations, even after being offered $1 million or more by the FBI for such corroboration.29 Further, when interviewed by the FBI in January 2017, Danchenko also was unable to corroborate any of the substantive allegations in the Reports. Rather, Danchenko characterized the information he provided to Steele as “rumor and speculation”30 and the product of casual conversation. 31
Section IV.D. l .h describes other efforts undertaken by the Crossfire Hurricane investigators working on the Page FISA application. Those efforts included having CHSs record conversations with Page, Papadopoulos and a senior Trump foreign policy advisor. The FBI’s own records and the recordings establish that Page made multiple exculpatory statements to the individual identified as CHS-I, but the Crossfire Hurricane investigators failed to make that information known to the Department attorneys or to the FISC. Page also made explicit statements refuting allegations contained in the Steele reporting about his lack of any relationship with Paul Manafort, but the FBI failed to follow logical investigative leads related to those statements and to report to Department lawyers what they found. Similarly, multiple recordings of Papadopoulos were made by CHS-1 and a second CHS, in which Papadopoulos
also made multiple exculpatory statements that were not brought to the attention of the Department lawyers or the FISC.
Furthermore, our investigation resulted in the prosecution and conviction of an FBI OGC attorney for intentionally falsifying a document that was material to the FISC’s consideration of one of the Page FISA applications.32

WASHINGTON — The IRS on Monday removed the “entire investigative team” from its long-running tax fraud probe of first son Hunter Biden in alleged retaliation against a whistleblower who alleged a coverup, The Post has learned.
The purge allegedly was done on the orders of the Justice Department, the whistleblower’s attorneys told Congress in a letter.
Today the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Criminal Supervisory Special Agent we represent was informed that he and his entire investigative team are being removed from the ongoing and sensitive investigation of the high-profile, controversial subject about which our client sought to make whistleblower disclosures to Congress. He was informed the change was at the request of the Department of Justice,” Mark Lytle and Tristan Leavitt wrote.
The whistleblower, who has supervised the Hunter Biden probe since early 2020, has not publicly identified the first son as the subject of his coverup claims, though congressional sources have done so.
“On April 27, 2023, IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel appeared before the House Committee on Ways and Means. He testified: ‘I can say without any hesitation there will be no retaliation for anyone making an allegation or a call to a whistleblower hotline.’ However, this move is clearly retaliatory and may also constitute obstruction of a congressional inquiry,” the lawyers went on.
