Me too! I tried to find Rush’s comments about it to share with one of my gradeschool acquaintances who is clearly repeating the leftist opinion. I decided I am not up for that discussion with her. I did find comments by Rush about it, but not the one I remember hearing one Saturday that was so pitch perfect.

Sometimes just coming back two hours later makes me realize there’s a much cleaner way to explain the concept.

Even when I’ve had a vague understanding of things, there have been numerous occasions where my understanding has been enhanced by your articles. Don’t sell yourself short.
But you pretty much know this stuff; I’m just putting polish on.
I was saying those who didn’t know it at all probably aren’t bothering to read it.
Judging by the discussions afterward, you are reaching more people than you are giving yourself credit for.
Appreciation of the beauties of actual science, and actual mathematics, is not always easy to begin — especially when knowledge of both have been so rudely abused by education over the last several decades. Fortunately, such beauties can be approached by numberless paths. Your articles have covered a number of such approaches very well…..and I think they have provided a way for people to glimpse the beauties therein.
And if they are enticed by such glimpses, there are many ways to continue one’s approach.

Those headings aren’t hot links but might link to the first linked article in each series?) Dropping the general puplic into our daily threads might be a little overwhelming for those long propagandized. Your posts would be great categorized in a new Science/Math filter plus also in Homeschooling (thanks para! Great suggestion; I replied in yesterday’s thread to your comment 1119838).
Also, when I think about adding local events search details, it crossed my mind that a possible unintended risk might be how black hats could use data like that to more easily cause harm to innocents. First time I’ve needed to consider that type of risk.

That seemed very valuable and I had not known about it. If I remember correctly, you stay on target in the science/math series. If not, readers just need to hold onto their big boy/girl panties and go for the edu ride.
The actual section of the post that has science and math in it is pretty clean…I take an occasional swipe at the left, but it’s clean.
But they’re almost always part of a bigger post that often *starts* with a nasty little rant for our entertainment.
Some of the early ones that predate the big physics series are probably exceptions.
I will at least skim it, and in doing so will pick up things that are new to me and that expand my basic knowledge base. I appreciate that very much. Just getting an idea of the depth of subjects that I am not well versed in, is enlightening: the vastness of the universe, an inkling of how facts about its size and age are determined, how mathematics and science are used to affect our lives in ways that so many of us are not aware of, etc. Many times I don’t comment on the technical aspects because it is clear to me that I don’t have the depth of understanding to do so. But that doesn’t mean I am not gaining from the information.
Everyone one article gets a good, try. Guessing 10% truly sink in.

The restrictions currently on Twitter are due to a security issue brought on by MASSIVE intrusion into the backside of Twitter to “scrape” info on what people are talking about in order to change/guide narratives to the desired discussion much higher than yours or my pay grade. This is information warfare on the digital battlefield as it is the one and only free speech platform that is open enough to do this. I know there are people dismissive of Twitter, but it is really the only real time vehicle on the internet for getting information out to the masses, and, well, the powers that wannabe can’t have that. I do have a video for the daily that explains all this, but it’s in a tweet and if y’all can’t see it, I would need to do some transcribing to really get a good explanation out there.

Actually, for me, FB is invaluable, but it’s where I am and how my family communicates. For example, we had MASSIVE thunderstorms over the weekend, and there’s trees down, power out, etc. The pool and other athletic facility on the same campus were out yesterday. The city put out fantastic communications about closures, asking for where trees were down, etc. It was great.
My problem with it is some people just post away like they have not a care in the world, and we really want to know all the details of their lives.

A lot of critical skill sets are disappearing from the USA workforce due to retiring and death. Tool makers, machine builder people who can grab a set of detailed prints and produce on a lathe and a milling machine start to finish on time in tolerance without using a cdc software driven machine. it may sound obsolete thinking but many critical things have to be made by hand at least the first time and those people are becoming harder to find.
Living in the country, I get my water from a well, a 35 year old well and a pump that once in a while needs repairing. Just days ago, a ‘key’ (whatever that is) cracked … water was spewing forth like a fountain. Cut the pump off at the electrical panel and called the people who originally dug the well. They (he actually) came out the next morning (I was in the que!) and repaired. Getting my boiler replaced too all summer to find someone. Finally we found someone 2 hours away to put a new boiler in. Cutting grass with push mower my husband does he is going to be 81 this week . One cannot find anyone kids do not cut any longer and professionals do not want to bother unless one has a very large grass cutting yard.
Mind you this Town is depressed no work many people are on hand outs. We used to get people and it stopped 10 years ago. People wanted to work in the past and we always paid a fair wage because I did not like the exploitation.

Also, the home’s former owner gave me a list including the company who drilled my well. In all cases, we have local oldies who are training up youngers and they often come in pairs. I hope it gets better where you live, phoenix. During covid, some people were paid more to stay home and do nothing. I had thought a lot of that funding had ended.

Glass has been dying for decades now, even though it’s far better than plastic for many things, and now the anti-plastic/anti-“fossil fuels” movement will put the greengang in a quandry. Glass furnaces and the annealing lehrs require a lot of natural gas in order to melt the glass, and to anneal the bottles after they’ve been formed. Being a captive vendor is never a safe business practice; it could be that that factory has been circling the drain for a while. And two machines is not a lot; plant 20 had five furnaces, each with up to seven or so machines popping out bottles 24×7… the machines nowadays are bigger, but still they should be able to change molds and do something else….. Also wonder if it’s just a layoff; that used to happen from time to time in the early 1960s due to market fluctuations. In any case, I hope and pray that the displaced or laid-off workers find other jobs.

I’m inclined to believe that the Russians are leaking this info to Western sources in order to further sunder Prigozhin. (I do not follow Russian-language news media and wonder if this is getting any play in Russia — let me know.) However, can’t discount possibility that this comes from MI-6 and it is being freely shared through liaison channels. In any event, it does expose Prigozhin as working a lot of side deals outside the boundaries of his Russian Government contracts and raises the prospect that he was sharing some of the wealth with his GRU handlers.
Andrei Martyanov has reported that the alleged close relationship between Putin and Prigozhin is a gross, erroneous exaggeration. Prigozhin, the consummate name dropper, used his alleged relationship with Putin to build his credibility over the last two decades with the GRU and MOD in order to boost his standing. At least that is what he was doing last year prior to his recent self-immolation.

TX College Fires Professor for Defining Sex

A professor of biology at a college in Texas who was allegedly fired for telling his class that X and Y chromosomes determine sex believes his First Amendment rights have been violated.
Johnson Varkey had been an instructor at St. Philip’s College in San Antonio since 2003. He had taught more than 1,500 students in that time, according to a letter his attorneys at First Liberty Institute wrote to the college, demanding his reinstatement. First Liberty Institute is a law firm that specializes in religious freedom cases, as noted in a Texas Scorecard report about Varkey’s firing.
According to the demand letter, on November 28, 2022, four students walked out of his class after he gave the chromosomal-based definition of sex.
In January of 2023, an email from Randall Dawson, vice president for academic success at St. Philip’s College, informed Varkey that a complaint had been filed against him and that his school access privileges had been suspended. Two weeks later, Varkey received a termination notice. The notice referenced “numerous complaints” lodged against Varkey.
“The complaint[s] contained several reports of ‘religious preaching, discriminatory comments about homosexuals and transgender individuals, anti-abortion rhetoric, and misogynistic banter,’” reads the demand letter.
The lawyers went on to assert that although Varkey is a devout Christian and holds many beliefs that would be considered socially conservative — such as “one’s sex is ordained by God” — he has never mentioned or preached about his religious beliefs in class. Therefore, the letter states, “the allegation that he conducted ‘religious preaching’ is unsubstantiated.”
The letter accuses St. Philip’s College of violating Varkey’s rights under the Free Speech Clause and Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment, citing a number of judicial decisions. It also accuses St. Philip’s of violating Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, which prohibits termination for religious beliefs and protected speech.

This shows that the groomer left is “closing the circle” on redefining “sex per se”. They have previously used the defense of “gender” not being the same as sex, and letting gender be humanly decided, but once they have that, it is clear that they will then begin insisting that gender trumps sex, and ultimately that gender IS sex once again.

A few personal updates . . . prayers requested
A couple weeks back my doctor put me on new meds. I think they’re making me fatigued. Yesterday I had a long nap in the afternoon and then fell asleep again after dinner. This is not cool b/c I have schoolwork to do – 3 cr hour summer course.
At least it’s nice having a holiday, and I took a PTO day from work Friday.
On my 45 yr old friend who passed away – the “widow” has updated her fundraising page and provided a picture of where she intends to put the burial plot. But no location! No details on the memorial or the service. She hasn’t told the parents either. Typical par for the course behavior.
It sounds like he did not have a substantial life insurance policy. I can’t believe it, with four kids, how do you not have a $1M term life policy? Well, talking with others it could be that he knew she wouldn’t use it well . . .
I did find our old d0main from the dot com days, AFAIK it was still being used as an email host. I checked whois, it has privacy protection with GoDaddy turned on, but the domain is scheduled to be ECLIPSED later this year.

My Grandfather was in emergency surgery having his aortic aneurysm repaired Friday night. Two stents total, one in either side of the groin. My parents sent a picture Saturday. For being in his 80s and out of surgery he was looking good, awake, and responsive.
My parents visited again Sunday after church. He is clearly very confused today and very tired it was difficult to get him to respond. They spent some time talking with the nurse, and it seems like everything in Florida requires talking in circles with people to get traction. He’s obviously not ready to be discharged but they hospital wants him out; the nurse says my parents should be engaging with the case manager. So then nurse stated that the case manager had been trying to contact the family for several days. My mother asked what number they were contacting, and were they calling or just sending texts? Not every phone gets text messages. Finally got a message left on the house phone.
The Case Manager and social worker says my parents need to start coming up with a plan for discharge. But don’t ask them for assistance and getting a place to live that offers the level of care he needs now.
I’m so sick of these people dumping all these problems on my mother – who is the daughter-in-law. They just expect family to pick up all the slack and don’t care.
I was very irritated, the nurse asked about the family and there are two daughters, one in Oklahoma and one in California, and she asked so where are they? Seriously? Butt out, you don’t know the family dynamic. My mother, the daughter-in-law, has MPoA! But they don’t know that, can’t seem to find the paperwork, and keep stonewalling when my mother talks with them even though her signature is on all the authorizations because they can’t wrap their heads around the situation. “Well if you aren’t family we can’t talk to you!” None of the forms have “daughter-in-law” so she’s just been checking off “daughter” – but that also keeps confusing the nurses. . . .
Meanwhile, he needs another surgery. It’s a holiday weekend so I don’t expect that will move forward before Wednesday. So the next 24 hours with the discharge and medicare appeal will be critical.
My brother-in-law said when Pa was in the hospital, a nurse friend told us if we believed they were rushing the discharge to “ask for medical form from Medicare to stay in the hospital.” She indicated that if the form is filed, they get a messy investigation that all the staff is afraid all the way to the hospital’s top officials. Does anyone know what that form might be?
Meanwhile, I’m trying to get details on my great-uncle’s memorial – he passed away a few weeks ago from a stroke and was 80. The memorial was supposed to be last week . . .
But his son, as I understand, suffered a stroke and last I heard was still in the hospital being treated . . . not very many details being released . . . so everything is delayed . . .

FAX a copy of the Medical Power of Attorney document that your mother has to the hospital. NOW. Then —
Get an attorney to call the hospital chief of administration (yes, there’s one of them always there, even on holidays) and tell that person that your family will sue the hospital into the ground if the hospital discharges your grandfather is pushed out.
(You can also make this call yourself while looking around for an attorney.)
Call the CHARGE NURSE on the floor of the hospital where your grandfather is, tell that person there’s a FAXED copy of the Medical Power of Attorney at the hospital, and that YOUR FAMILY DEMANDS THAT YOUR GRANDFATHER STAY IN THE HOSPITAL WHILE A “FAST APPEAL” IS FILED.
The Medicare form I think you need is this one, available from the CMS website:
“Hospital Inpatient Admission Order and Certification”
GET A DOCTOR TO CERTIFY THAT YOUR GRANDFATHER NEEDS TO STAY IN THE HOSPITAL DURING THE “FAST APPEAL” PROCESS. STAT.

The Case Manager and the Social Worker at the hospital are NOT your friends. They are NOT advocates for the patients there. Their main job is to get the patient out of the hospital at the earliest possible time, so that the bed can be made ready for the next inpatient.
Call the hospital and get a PATIENT OMBUDSMAN on the case. Stat.
(All of the above are based on Yours Truly’s experiences with very sick relatives who were in the hospital and who were being pushed out due to the “MEDICARE CLOCK” that ALL hospitals who accept Medicare payments run under.)
Great advice! Definitely, the social worker and case manager are not your friends. They are there to get patients discharged, or worse (by placing them on “palliative care,” which is a euphemism for hospice, etc.).
Remind me to relate at some point how I dealt with a hospital administrator on the phone at 2AM who was trying to get my very ill father discharged later that morning.
Sad truth. Have lived it. ~Thirty years later, details still raw. Siblings and I did not know. Social worker and case manager presented themselves, as advocates for Mom. Never again.

This type of situation is right “where the rubber meets the road” for the family of the patient in the hospital. Right where the patient’s family, especially the one who has the Medical Power of Attorney, has to cut through the BULLSH!T that the hospital staff will give out in order to “keep their butts clean” with the hospital administration. IMO, it’s imperative to let any hospital staff that any member of the patient’s family speaks with (especially hospital administrators and case managers/social workers) know that the family WILL NOT TOLERATE their hospitalized loved one getting “tossed out” due to the “MEDICARE CLOCK.” Yes, one has to be polite and NON-confrontational (the hospital staff has the option to call security / the police, to “escort one out”, in which case it’s VERY HARD to get back INTO the hospital to see the loved one) — but FIRM.
Yours Truly learned quickly, the hard way, to TAKE COPIOUS NOTES when talking to hospital staff. And — the notes one takes STAY WITH THAT PERSON — never give them or “lend them” to any hospital staff member.
Having said all the above — there HAVE been hospital staff that Yours Truly dealt with who were helpful, who went out of their way to do all they could, and so on. Those personnel were worth their weight in gold.

Sweden’s NATO Membership Is A Pipe Dream, Turkey Says Ahead Of Summit
There’s just over a week until the major annual NATO summit kicks off in Vilnius, Lithuania – but Sweden has little hope at this point that its stalled application for membership will be accepted.
Last week Sweden allowed a Quran-burning protest to proceed, which took place in Stockholm, drawing about 200 people to the scene which had police protection. Interestingly, this time it was a 37-year old Iraqi man which destroyed the book (reportedly he’s an Iraqi Christian refugee) which is considered holy by Muslims. He was assisted by another man carrying Swedish flags.
It happened last Wednesday, and sparked protests in various Muslim countries, including inside Iraq, which saw the Swedish Embassy in Baghdad briefly stormed by protesters.
Iraqi protesters had also burned rainbow ‘Pride’ flags as a response to the recent series of Quran-burning incidents in Europe, as the AP described:
All of this is happening against the backdrop of Sweden desperately seeking entry into the NATO military alliance, but which Turkey has blocked since last summer. Ankara now has even more reason to resist Sweden’s accession efforts, after complaining that it allowed “PKK terrorists” to operate freely.

I think I saw this before or one like it but..getting to my point..i was in my China is deliberately screwing up the fireworks conspiracy phase! It seemed like every home firework show was going all over the place even when it looked liked the people had placed them safely.

I was just appalled at the lack of common sense. I’m related to and have been a part of sidewalk fireworks for decades. I couldn’t watch it to the end.

When I was 15, I happened to be in Paris for Bastille Day. Now Paris has a giant X-shaped park centered under the Eiffel Tower, mostly lawn. I was schlepping along a walkway in this park in the afternoon.
Some distance ahead, I see an obvious grandfather type smoking a cigar, walking his young grandson, maybe six or eight, to a park bench. He settles down, and his grandson rummages through a box they brought with them, then runs excitedly up to gramps with something in his hand….
At this point, I’m maybe 50 yards away from this tableau.
Gramps takes a puff off his cigar to get a good coal, then raises the grandson’s hand up to the end. It catches, the grandson takes about two steps away and throws it upward as high as he can…..
The thing gets about eight feet up and goes “ker-POW”, and the concussion checks me as I’m walking. I had been expecting some reasonable “bang” thing, but this had some serious oomph.
I’m shaking my head and my ears are ringing, but the kid is jumping up and down and clapping with excitement, then runs back to the box to get another. I was thinking, “Good Lord.”
Kid fun. Been there. Not so much of it these days.
This was well-past California “kid fun” of the 1960’s.

My Dad had some cherry bombs that he saved from the 1950s or 1960s when they were still made, and he would light one off every year when I was a little kid.
It was the loudest thing I’d ever heard, made a ball of fire as big as a basketball.
About ten years later, my cousin and I found my Uncle’s stash of cherry bombs.
We both recognized what they were immediately.
And we knew exactly what had to be done… 😂
