Funny thing. My leg leaked a bunch of fluid. Interstitial i think. No blood or anything but so much swelling it wanted out.
I’m glad the surgery is behind you and that it went well. Continued prayers for as speedy as possible healing with no complications! I hope you will be able to sleep, too.
As expected, i passed out for 30 minutes and now need to take medicine. Bwill see if i can get back to sleep. ☺️

I am glad all went well as hoped. The scooter will help better than crutches. The swelling is normal . Fluid? That might be normal also. My dog had years ago knee surgery and they put a plate in. He leaked fluid also. Just keep an eye on it because it should stop within a week the latest. Rest and be good to yourself. ❤

As far as I know Wal-Mart has no regs that you can’t bring your own. I am confident that giloo’s scooter is customized and the latest model. MAGA people travel first class.

Hook one of these up to it, and add some wheelie bars, and you’re all set 👍😁

The ER will do a scan to determine the size of the stone. One very nice resident did the scan in the room as soon as we got seen — about 4 weeks ago.
This is NEW at UNC, I have taken my friend in for kidney stones many times over the years and never saw this portable equipment before — Response to Remdesivir damage to the kidneys maybe??
More likely, they finally got approval from the bean counters. Probably been trying unsuccessfully to get one for years. Need was aggravated by remdesivir — who knows?

lithotripsy is that non-invasive sound wave treatment for kidney stones. I had to look it up hoping Sylvia does not need surgery.
Yeah, it just leaves you bruised according to my friend who had it done several years ago.

There is always a risk when they start messing inside the body.
I hope they can catch some of the stones and determine the type, and maybe a diet to slow down the formation.
They go in with micro-surgery to remove the really BIG DENSE ONES.
For smaller stones, next size down, they go up thru the bladder and use a laser to zap them.
For even smaller they use ultrasound to break them up.
For those small enough to pass, you get to drink lots of fluid, cranberry juice… and take pain killers. Antibiotics if there is infection.

Sounds like DEHYDRATION as well as nutrition may be a factor, at least in your FIL’s case.
I agree, Gail. Nobody else in his family had them. He and his POW buddies talked about that very thing and one kept a journal on a small notepad he found and hid in his shoe. It was hard to read without crying.
What a treasure to find, though heartbreaking, to get such a glimpse into what someone endured & documented…

Yesterday I spent the day in the hospital (UNC assoc.) with a friend. She had 3 kidney stones. total circumference was OVER ONE INCH! That is ~ 1/3 inch per stone.
First the good news. As far as we knew she had no insurance. She had gone to a hearing and the BLACK judge said that my friend’s dress was an insult to her court and THEREFORE DENIED MEDICAID. What the heck does she expect of someone who is essentially homeless?
This is not her first bout with kidney stones but in this case those stones were much to large to pass. She was in tears. We went and picked up her medicine for pain and infection and then went to a newly opened restaurant. Got to talking to the waitress about my friend’s sadness so she prayed over her…
My Friend got home 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗙𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗 𝗔𝗡 𝗘𝗧𝗡𝗔 𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗠𝗔𝗜𝗟 𝗕𝗢𝗫‼ 🤗 The UNC hospital must have intervene and essentially over turned the Judge’s decision!
Anyway she was referred to a Urologist who set up a operation at the end of Aug. Unfortunately, the infection was resistant to the antibodics (She went thru 2 different ones) the stone moved and the pain went off the charts so we headed back to the emergency room on the recommendation of the Urologist’s office.
New antibiotic, shipped to Duke last night for either stone removal (unlikely given infection) or a stint to siphon off the blocked urine and infection. (Please pray for her. her name is Nancy.)

Now for the interesting tidbits.
#1. The nurse said the Urologists are very backed up. Lots of stones, much more than normal. I wonder if the stones are the kidney’s method of walling off Remdesivir?

The local media still sell the lies, but less and less people are watching. They are starting to show their desperation and their job turnover shows it. Hiring a bunch of kids that are cheaper cost, not replacing co-anchors who leave, etc. They get a lot of their “investigative” stories from Fakebook and other social media to fill air time. Less viewers mean less advertisers means less money going to traitors. 👍

I’m actually heartened citizens are acting up in hospitals. Based on signs at local quacks office, may be quite common.
NO, I do not want citizens to get violent. Throughout Covid, healthcare workers – quacks and nurses HAVE INTENTIONALLY harmed patients.
She wore nice pants instead of a fancy dress or skirt. (I meant code not color.)
Along the same lines. Another one of my shortcomings.
I have never subscribed to the court dress code thing.
Clean clothes in good repair, ought to be good enough.
The violence against health care workers makes all kinds of sense to me, for the following reasons:
1) Many (most?) health care workers took the vaxx.
2) The vaxx demonstrably diminishes compassion in the victim. I’ve seen it. I don’t think everyone got the same dose, so this varies person to person.
3) People who are seeking help for illness need compassion desperately. When they are met with indifference, they lash out. Health care is supposed to be about CARE.
We have not seen the end of violent reaction to the indifference of the vaxxed. They are like zombies in some cases. They just DON’T CARE anymore. And the unvaccinated are responding to that.
I think people are starting to understand that hospitals DELIBERATELY KILLED PEOPLE during Covid for $$$. We have certainly brought that documentation to the QTree a number of times.
Now people have to use the hospital for care they can not do at home… HOWEVER THE TRUST IS GONE! This means health care worker behavior that would be overlooked in 2018 and before is now going to cause a lot more resentment, suspicion and even hatred now.
If someone feels they are not getting good care or that a child/loved one was DELIBERATELY KILLED expect VIOLENCE!

The care aspect is often out the window and common sense and individualized care seem to be gone. I’ve said this before, but I have witnessed an elderliy patient being left in the ER, waiting to be admitted, without food or water for 12 hours and more. There is no excuse for that. And those are the most basic of human needs. When it comes to complicated treatments and therapeutics, “health care” seems bound to protocols that might not be in the best interest of the patient.
My dad was left on a stretcher in the hallway in an overfull hospital. My retired RN mom lobbied for them to get him on IV antibiotics, at least, since he was there for Sepsis, so that finally happened. This was in a main Detroit hospital that is constantly overwhelmed w/ major cases, but my parents’ insurance requires them to use that system.
A similar thing happened when my mom needed an MRI of the brain following a stroke-like incident & they were sent to that hospital & had to wait many hours w/ no food, etc, & her on a gurney in the hallway waiting to get into the MRI. They were both in their 80’s when such indecencies happened–outrageous!
Once people lose trust in you, you lose everything. Prayers for Nancy.

The cashier told me it just kicked in. Since no one was there except us we chatted. She does not like the move. She said she has had Direct TV for over 20 years and just recently they started screwing up her service every month. She has to call and then she gets the sales pitch — well if you switch to the wireless transfer payment option instead of using a check, you would not have this problem.
She is afraid the younger generation (She’s in her 50s) is going to go into cashless/chipped like lambs to the slaughter because of how society has groomed them to accept computers and cell phones ….

Well I now know why ‘Health Care Workers’ are getting violence aimed at them. Can you say Affirmative Action incompetence??? I just spent over 1 1/2 hours driving slowly in circles in the hot sun in an even hotter BLACK DIESEL pick-up because I was not allowed to stop, turn off the LOUD engine and make a phone call… (I did and was told she would be discharged shortly) … Then I was told I had to MOVE and was not to stop until I saw her come out.
Turns out Nancy was ready for VISITORS, NOT DISCHARGE!!! So I just spent 4 hours driving…
After the hour and a 1/2 I finally STOPPED again, made another phone call got the same person and then got transferred 3 times only to find they sent the wrong message the first time…. Discharge is TOMORROW!
While I was driving round and round the Duke hospital entrance I noticed the same patients in wheel chairs out waiting for pickup in the hot sun. Some of the same people were still there when I left as when I arrived.
Given that I have a very nasty temper when riled, I do not think I will be welcome back at Duke any time soon. I did not hurt anyone but they were very aware that I was NOT HAPPY when I left… And then I got to experience Durham city rush hour traffic.
My poor feet feel like they were broiled from sitting next to the hot engine for so long. I swear the foot area is a good 20F hotter than the rest of the truck.
You should write a letter to the hospital administrator, describing your experience, and copy it to all your state representative’s offices, including the Governor.

I read someplace that they want to jail Trump until his Court date concerning Jan 6.
I am not sure if that is true. Only the possibility of this happening is infuriating.
