Many cities such as Seattle and New York City have coastal areas that were filled in with sand, 19th C. fire and earthquake debris, sunken ships, you name it. This was often done to create a better harbor for large ship by reclaiming vast mud flats. St. Petersburg Russia is largely man-made, built upon marshes by Peter the Great. In a strong earthquake these areas are expected to not merely shake but to “liquefy”, leading to massive damage.
Valerie, I was living in San Franciso when the TransAmerican Pyramid opened. There ensued a Huge Celebration, open to the public. On the lower level of the structure, there was displayed the entire collection of architectural drawings…done by humans incidentally…which were of great public interest, given the unique configuration of the new building.
Of special note, given the fact mentioned above wrt the “liquefying” potential of the site, was a series of drawings specific to the architectural solution to this potential problem. The entire building and its foundation were established on a series of enormous Teflon rollers, capable of moving in multiple directions due to the design of their matrix assembly!
There was also a model which attempted to illustrate the workings of said rollers when subjected to various seismic stresses.
Altogether a wonderful glimpse into the workings of the human mind when inspiration is coupled with a comprehensive understanding of the myriad factors required to undertake such a stunning project. Sticks in the memory it does.

Valerie, If you get the chance, closer to home you might want to check out Oyster Bay on Lake Charlevoix. It became a graveyard for disposing whole wooden boats from the late 1800’s era. Some are just under the surface and can be seen in clear detail if you go on a calm day in the springtime. The water gets too roiled in summer by the numerous boaters on the lake.

Just to be clear, the 14th bans certain persons from holding office. It says nothing about running for office. This push to keep DJT off of state ballots is frivolous because the amendment says nothing about campaigns AND the amendment lacks enabling language for that action.
Section 3 states the disability conditions and how that disability can be removed. It does NOT say how the disability is proved. Logically, a person denying such disability should be up to Congress to determine. I would argue that such declaration requires a two thirds vote of each chamber of Congress.
Allow me to point out that Section 5 states that Congress has the authority to enact appropriate legislation to enforce the provisions of the amendment. Appropriate means subjects described in the amendment’s language. Not implied or inferred.
Congress has NOT authorized the several states to do ANYTHING regarding Section 3. It has, for example, done so in the area of civil rights [42 USC 1983]. If anything Congress has taken the authority of Section 5 and kept it completely to itself.

What is the standard deviation? Planes do fall out of the sky. Sometimes, daily for a short period of time.
As pointed out a few days ago, the Osprey is a death trap.
I guess they are saying that, instead of saying “running for U.S. Senate,” Trump only said “running for Senate.” So they speculate that he left out “U.S.,” which led them to find those letters highlighted in a Q post in brackets.
They found “[US]” in Q post 144, so they are saying Trump might have been pointing us to that. It is a long Q post that people can read by right-clicking on it and opening it in its own window.
What I find more striking is the misspelling of “rumors.” That’s a blatant mistake that no native English speaker would make. And the word should be plural: “rumors are strong.” I expect the Left to jump on this, which might have been intended. Hard to say.
I searched the Q posts for “roomer” and got zero results.

I don’t know, I’ve seen one.
My understanding is that people who buy Teslas order them online, so there is no car dealer or car salesman to hassle with.
The whole thing is done online.
You pick the vehicle, the options you want, etc., like ordering dinner.
If you need financing, I think they are doing that now too.
They also offer insurance, at about half the cost of car insurance through a third party insurance company.
So it’s a streamlined, one-stop shopping experience.
Cutting out the dealership is cutting out a middle-man, meaning Tesla can sell cars cheaper, giving Tesla another competitive edge over the legacy auto industry business model.
Also, Tesla’s quarterly sales are actual sales to customers, whereas my understanding is that legacy automakers count whatever they ship to dealers in their quarterly sales, whether the dealer has sold the car or not.
There must be buildings owned by Tesla, somewhere that cars are physically transferred to buyers (so buyers don’t have to travel to Texas or California to pick up their car), but it is not a third party ‘dealership’ in any traditional sense of the word, again, if I understand correctly.

But I did a quick search, and found this compilation of spotter ‘saves’.

Yea, I found the spotter distracting. The gymnasts, comforted they are there and learned to ignore them, their movement. Prolly don’t even “see” the spotters.
