To Live is Christ . . .
Philippians 1:21 says, “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Most people focus on the second part of the verse, “to die is gain,” and contemplate the joys of heaven. But we should not overlook what comes before. The importance of the phrase “to live is Christ” cannot be overstated. In all honesty, this phrase should be central to every Christian’s life.
In this statement, the apostle Paul is saying that everything he has tried to be, everything he is, and everything he looked forward to being pointed to Christ. From the time of Paul’s conversion until his martyrdom, every move he made was aimed at advancing the knowledge, gospel, and church of Christ. Paul’s singular aim was to bring glory to Jesus.
“To live is Christ” means that we proclaim the gospel of Christ. Paul preached in synagogues; he preached at riversides; he preached as a prisoner; he preached as an apostle; he preached as a tentmaker. His message was constant: “Jesus Christ and him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:2). He brought the message of Christ’s sacrifice to kings, soldiers, statesmen, priests, and philosophers, Jews and Gentiles, men and women. He would preach to literally anyone who would listen.
“To live is Christ” means that we imitate the example of Christ. Everything that Jesus did and said, that’s what Paul wanted to do and say. The church benefitted from his godly example: “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1). What would Jesus do? That’s what we want to do.
“To live is Christ” means that we pursue the knowledge of Christ. We want to know Christ better and better each day. Not just a set of facts about Christ, but Christ Himself. “I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead” (Philippians 3:10-11).
“To live is Christ” means that we are willing to give up anything that prevents us from having Christ. Paul’s testimony in this regard: “Whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him” (Philippians 3:7-9). We cling to the promise of our Lord in Mark 10:29-30 that our sacrifices for Jesus’ sake will be repaid a hundredfold.
“To live is Christ” means that Christ is our focus, our goal, and our chief desire. Christ is the center point of our mind, heart, body and soul. Everything that we do, we do for Christ’s glory. As we run the “race marked out for us,” we lay aside the entangling sin and worldly distractions, “fixing our eyes on Jesus” (Hebrews 12:1-2). He is our life.

There is no such thing as ‘proportional’ when you surprise attack someone, because:
A) the attacker is expecting retaliation, so there is no ‘surprise’, they’re ready
B) Israel isn’t going to rape and murder individual men, women and children
So ‘proportional’ is not even a possibility, because you can’t surprise someone who is expecting to be attacked, and anyone who isn’t a psychopath isn’t going to rape and murder in retaliation anyway.
What you certainly can do, and what is entirely justified, is to kill the enemy.
The battlefield, by definition, is wherever the enemy is. There is no ‘home base’ safe zone, it’s not some children’s game.
If HamISIS commits an atrocity, a crime against humanity, an Act of War, raping and murdering over a thousand people, and then runs and hides somewhere, wherever they go is where the battlefield is.
If HamISIS hides behind a bunch of supposedly ‘innocent’ people, those supposedly ‘innocent’ people are on the battlefield, and they better move — immediately.
No ‘innocent’ person would, or even could, protect rapists and murderers from justice.
If so-called ‘innocent’ people decide to stay on the battlefield to protect the rapers and murderers, that’s their free-will choice. They become accomplices to atrocities and crimes against humanity after the fact, and get the same treatment the rapers and murderers do.
It doesn’t matter who the attackers were, and it doesn’t matter who the victims were. It has nothing to do with Israel per se, and nothing to do with Palestine, per se.
The same would apply to any scenario where any group of murdering rapists attacked some other group of people.

Even today, I hear people talking about the sleeper cells in the USA as part of a Hezbollah military operation in one sentence and then go on to talk about those same cells being so emotionally inflamed by islamist culture that they could ‘pop off’ at random which is purportedly why our intelligence agencies get taken by surprise.
It never dawns on them that a military operation cannot have any emotional power that can randomly ‘go off’. I even have heard this ’emotional powder keg’ blah-blah a couple of times on Bannon’s Warroom without correction or challenge and I wonder why this sort of crap is allowed from otherwise bright MAGA people.
Unchallenged, this terrorizes unsuspecting people who then tend to see any Middle Eastern person as potentially a jihadi. This dulls their ability to objectively analyze whether any jihadi traits exist in that ME person. It’s one thing to be alert and another thing to be in constant fear.

“Gaza was not always like this. Favorably placed on the Eastern mediterranean, Gaza has been a place of human settlement for more than 5000 years. A natural stopping point for travelers and merchants heading back and forth between Africa and Asia, it featured prominently in the Old Testament. Gaza was a member of the Philistine confederacy of five cities along the coastal plain. Gaza was visited by King David and Alexander the Great. Falling under Ottoman rule in 1516, Gaza was a major battlefield in the struggle for the control of Palestine in World War I. Only after three major engagements did the British finally manage to capture it in 1917.
Under the Mandate, during the riots of 1929 the small but long-established Jewish communities was evacuated to Tel-Aviv for fear of massacre.
In 1948, as the British withdrew, the Egyptian military occupied the coastal strip around Gaza. The population at the time consisted of roughly 80,000 Palestinians in four small towns: Gaza, DeirAl-Balah, Khan Younis, and Rafah. In a matter of weeks this small strip of land became a place of refuge for well over 150,000 refugees fleeing from from villages and towns in the south of Palestine in the face of the Haganah’s ethnic cleansing. The effect was to triple the population and to create Gaza as we know it today, an overcrowded, haven for refugees.
After 1948, the UN set up an agency UNRWA to support the Palestinian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and the West Bank, as well as in Gaza. For the following two decades under Egyptian rule, Gaza’s population had access to Egypt for work and study.
Then came the 1967 war and the vast expansion of Israeli control into the Sinai and West Bank. The first Israeli census in Gaza in 1967 counted a population of 394,000, of which at least 60% were refugees. To govern the territory at arms length, Israeli adopted Moshe Dayan’s policy of “open bridges”. The military minimized its footprint and Gaza and the West Bank were integrated as far as possible into the Israeli economy. In 1981 a formal border and border checkpoints were established between Gaza and Egypt for the first time, running through the border town of Rafah. Meanwhile, attracted by much higher wages, by the 1980s approximately 45 percent of the Gazan workforce was employed in Israel.
The result, given the relative dynamism of Israeli economy, was considerable growth in incomes in Gaza. But it was also in this period that Sara Roy coined the phrase de-development. Though income levels in Gaza were rising, as Roy pointed out in 1987, it was not developing. Indeed, it was being systematically de-developed. Palestinian workers were sucked into low-wage work in Israel, undermining Palestine’s own business sector and the standing of Palestine’s own landowning and bourgeois interests. Between 1970 and 1985, even as the GDP of the West Bank and Gaza increased, total employment in the Palestinian economy stagnated. The result of surging real incomes and stagnant production in the Palestinian territories was a yawning trade deficit with Israel.”

Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Yesterday (Saturday 15 October) Jill and I traveled about an hour north from our VA farm to join a friend, journalist Maike Hickson of LifeSite News, who had arranged for press passes to visit this years Homesteaders of America conference. Held in the modest Warren County Fairgrounds of Front Royal, VA, this conference has been running for seven years now, and this time all tickets were sold out months before the event. We were only able to get in because of Maike’s contacts, perhaps influenced by the fact that she is a local that lives just down the road from the fairgrounds in an old farmhouse with a classic bank barn.
I had no idea what we were walking into, imagining a modest local gathering at a fairgrounds where we once showed our Draft horses, back in the day when we were breeding Percheron. To my surprise, the sold out conference was attended by well over 5,000 people, drawn both locally and from across North America, the UK and Europe. Jill and I had the pleasure of meeting many participants from New England, Europe, and Illinois as well as locals such as our neighbor and Virginia State Delegate Nick Freitas. Suffice to say, parking was jammed and overflowing, local hotels were completely full, and many of those who came from a distance resorted to tents and trailers.
