Dear KAG: 20231024 Open Thread

Cover image: Here are three Crow (Apsaroke) Native American hunters heading through the lands of Montana by Martin Grelle.

Okay, this is going to be a little short as there’s stuff going on, and…well, my sources aren’t always taken in the best light. Just remember this:

Ever seen a SWAMP actually drained? This Florida Man has. It’s not orderly. Turns out, the alligators & snakes get unruly when the comfort of their habitat is disrupted. Chaos doesn’t scare me. American decline does. Our fight continues. Thank you for having my back!

MacGregor: “We’re tired of all this Republican Democrat nonsense because the truth is that it doesn’t matter who you vote for, you get the same damn policies. We have in Washington this thing we call the Uniparty. The Uniparty is owned by various lobbies some of those are corporate some of those are foreign. Some of them are pharmaceuticals. Found a way to essentially buy up politicians. We know that. That has to go away. I think it will as a result of where we are headed financially. We’ve got to return to a very simple formulation. Faith, family, country. What we’ve seen with this government we have is a systematic attempt to destroy the family… Stop the interventions. We want to restore the rule of law. We seemed to have lost our intestinal fortitude. Our guts. Our courage to do what is necessary to protect our society. We’ve got to close our borders. We can’t afford them. These things have to happen. We absolutely must halt the sexualization of our children. An appeal across party lines. There are lots of good people who can agree about these things. We need to come together and we need to go after these people in Washington. We need to force this agenda onto Washington. Get out of this terrible pit of despair that we are currently wandering in.”

I took a break from the psyops for the weekend. I sat back and observed from a distance while emotions settled.

Here’s what I see: There is a massive propaganda campaign by Israel and their Western partners, seeking to garner public support for all out war in the Middle East.

The Israeli government are running YouTube ads, Twitter/X ads, CBS roundtables with the Five Eyes Intel leaders, promoting Israel funding during football games. They are advertising war like a company would promote a product or an event. The American People are being targeted via PSYOP.

At first I thought the propaganda was for public and political support to secure funding for Israel like we do to Ukraine, but this appears to be more severe.

Israel appear like they want to drag the US directly into the conflict in the Middle East, because if they invade Gaza, and Hezzbollah gets involved, then Iran gets involved, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt… It’s gonna be a shitshow, thus Israel want the US to fight the conflict for them. Which is why I believe the American People are being so heavily targeted with pro-Israeli war propaganda.

US involvement would significantly benefit the Biden regime as well. More war, more chaos, more opportunities to launder money to their deep state partners, more avenues of revenue for the war machine, immediate whitewash of the massive failure in Ukraine, etc.

If the status quo remains, Trump is going to win 2024.

WW3 might be their only option and they are running out of time.

This appears to be a prelude to war.

How each Speaker candidate voted in overturning 2020 election results
(I added the thumbs.)

👎 House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.)

Emmer opposed the objections to both Arizona’s and Pennsylvania’s election results, making him one of two Speaker candidates who did not vote to overturn either of the state’s results.

Buck has voted for Emmer in each of the three ballots cast for the Speakership this month. The majority whip has also secured McCarthy’s endorsement, though the former Speaker voted in favor of objecting to Arizona’s and Pennsylvania’s 2020 presidential election results.

👍🏼 Rep. Kevin Hern (R-Okla.)

Hern voted to object to both the Arizona and Pennsylvania election results.

He is a staunch supporter of former President Trump and has backed the former president’s false claims that the 2020 election was stolen.

👍🏼 House Republican Conference Vice Chairman Mike Johnson (R-La.)

Johnson also voted to object to the election results in both Arizona and Pennsylvania.

He officially announced he is in the race for Speaker via a “Dear Colleague” letter to members Saturday morning. He serves on the House Judiciary Committee.

👍🏼 Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.)

Donalds is another Republican who voted to object to both Arizona’s and Pennsylvania’s election results.

Donalds officially announced his run Friday night via a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

He had received votes for the Speakership from GOP holdouts during McCarthy’s 15-ballot Speaker race in January, and he also garnered a few during Jordan’s three ballots last week.

👍🏼 Rep. Jack Bergman (R-Mich.)

Bergman voted yes on objecting to Arizona’s and Pennsylvania’s election results.

In a surprise move, he announced he would be running for the Speakership over the weekend, vowing in a statement that he would “end the deadlock, and win the vote.”

👎 Rep. Austin Scott (R-Ga.)

Scott is the second of only two candidates to not object to either Arizona’s or Pennsylvania’s results.

Scott, a seventh-term congressman, shocked many when he pulled a significant show of support in his bid against Jordan last week, when he lost the secret ballot against Jordan in a 124-81 vote.

👍🏼 Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas)

Sessions voted in favor of objecting to Arizona’s and Pennsylvania’s 2020 presidential results.

He served as chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee from January 2009 until January 2013. He revealed Friday that he would run for Speaker of the House, signaling that he is ready to jump pack into GOP leadership.

👍🏼👎 Rep. Dan Meuser (R-Pa.)

Meuser split his votes on whether to overturn the two states’ election results. He voted to sustain an objection to his home state of Pennsylvania’s election results but did not object to Arizona’s election results.

He officially filed to run for Speaker, according to the list of declared candidates House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) announced Sunday.

👍🏼 Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Ala.)

Palmer, a five-term congressman, is the sixth Speaker candidate to have objected to both Arizona’s and Pennsylvania’s election results.

He was a surprise name when Stefanik announced the candidates

ESPECIALLY given that autopsy report.

“The Whole George Floyd Story Was A Lie”: Tucker Carlson

According to Carlson, we need to revisit certain popular narratives, including the circumstances surrounding Floyd’s death – and in particular, inconsistencies between public perception – that Floyd died under the knee of former officer Derek Chauvin, who’s currently serving more than 40 years in state and federal sentences….

Now we’ve been told that that happened, told it relentlessly for more than three years,” Carlson says, adding “But the question is, did he [Derek Chauvin] actually murder George Floyd? And the answer is, well, no, he didn’t murder George Floyd, and we’re not guessing about that; we know it conclusively thanks to a new court case now underway in Hennepin County, Minnesota.

The lawsuit, incidental to Floyd and Chauvin, unveiled sworn deposition excerpts from a conversation with County Medical Examiner Andrew Baker, indicating that Floyd’s passing was not due to asphyxiation or strangulation. Instead, factors including drug use and a fatal concentration of fentanyl were significant contributors, reframing his demise from the widely publicized ‘murder’ to an inadvertent overdose…

Carlson interviewed Vince Everett Ellison, author of “Crime Inc.” – who discussed the possibility of orchestrated degradation and victimization within the Black community by political entities, particularly the Democratic party.

Ellison suggests that the glorification of figures like George Floyd represents an insidious strategy to perpetuate a certain stereotype of blacks who are reliant on the system, thereby solidifying a voting base and maintaining a form of socio-political control.

Drawing parallels between movements like BLM and historical or international groups used for political leverage, Ellison’s commentary insinuates that these organizations could be modern iterations of ‘domestic militias’ utilized by the Democrats for social manipulation and power consolidation. The unsettling comparison of BLM to groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, or the historical utilization of the Ku Klux Klan, paints a grim picture of political machinations where civil unrest is a tool rather than a byproduct.

“The Democratic party uses BLM and Antifa as theirs, throwing the rock and hiding the hand. Of course, they’re going to do it; they’ve always done it, even at the beginning, they used the Ku Klux Klan,” he said.

Virginia student,14, crowned America’s top Young Scientist and awarded $25k after developing soap that treats SKIN CANCER

A 14-year-old boy has been named America’s Top Young Scientist for developing an affordable bar of soap that treats skin cancer.

Heman Bekele, a ninth grader at W.T. Woodson High School in Annandale, Virginia went head-to-head with nine other finalists in the 2023 3M Young Scientists Challenge and took home the $25,000 grand prize.

Bekele made the cancer-fighting soap by infusing medicinal soap with three ingredients that have been found to reactivate dendritic cells that generate an immune response to combat cancer.

Not only does his soap help fight skin cancer, but Bekele found that each bar costs just $0.50, compared to the more than $40,000 needed for current medical treatments.

Over the next five years, Bekele hopes to refine this novel innovation and create a nonprofit organization to distribute this low-cost solution to needy communities…

My uncle (also a plumber) once lived in the old Melody Ranch ranch house (he rented). Every year, the fire department would come around and nag you about mowing brush away from structures — something like 50 feet. Unfortunately, the bottom of the hill was about 35 feet from the garage, so my uncle took the lawnmower and shoved it along the hillside to get that last 15 feet.

This tilted the lawnmower so much that gas actually glorped out of the top of the gas tank and ran down over the mower’s exhaust manifold, where it soon caught fire. The resulting blaze was extinguished after only about 15 acres had burned — but the flames were all moving away from the house and started 40+ feet from any structures…..

How tomorrow’s vote for speaker will work

House Republicans will — yet again — huddle behind closed doors tomorrow morning to select their new speaker designate. Only this time, instead of two candidates facing off for a majority of their colleagues’ votes, there will be eight names to choose from, which means we’re most likely in for hours of waiting to see who the next candidate to try for 217 on the House floor will be.

The meeting will kick off at 9 a.m. ET, with Republicans voting by secret ballot. Whoever earns the fewest votes in Round 1 will automatically drop out as an official candidate for speaker. That means that when we hit Round 2, it’ll be seven candidates. By Round 3, at least six, and so on.

But here’s a very important thing to remember: Once someone earns a majority in the room, that’s it. He’s the speaker designate, even if other candidates are left in the running.

Once there’s a nominee, that person will need to get 217 votes on the House floor to become speaker. That vote could happen later Tuesday, but that’s unclear.

All candidates signed a unity pledge to back the nominee, Rep. Flood says

Rep. Mike Flood, R-Neb., said all of the candidates signed his unity pledge, which is a promise to support whoever the conference nominates once there’s a floor vote for speaker…

None of the candidates has a majority of the party’s support right now, [Byron] Donalds acknowledged, and he said working toward one would be his focus for the “next 24 hours or so”…

cthulhu

Just reviewing this farce, I have to doubt that these idiots could organize a successful bake sale.

Trump supporter sentenced to 6 years in federal prison for breaking the window and using her bullhorn to give instructions to others.

People might disagree with me, but I find her actions to be both appalling and criminal. She mentions “taking this building,” that a window needs to be broken, and that if they break a certain glass (a window, I guess) it would give them access to a room below. What did she think she was doing?

That said, a six-year sentence seems excessive. But her actions don’t compare to those who were escorted in by the police and who were just walking around in the Capitol. She was inciting something.

Will you look at that?

Just LOOK at that.

That first window looks broken in two different places, and the one next to it appears to be broken, too.

Can I be the only one wondering how she can even be allowed to live?

In releated news, six years in federal prison is six years longer than black people and islamic people get for armed robbery, rape, arson or murder.

singingsoul1

Where did she get the tool holding in her hands? Did they not go through security? This cannot be hidden.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

There was no “security” outside of the capitol building. I literally walked from the Trump rally to the building, and once the police let people in, there was no impediment, I could have walked on in without going through any sort of security (but I did not). If she was able to get onto the outside balcony (as many hundreds did) she could bash in those windows.

singingsoul1

They should have had security. She came to do harm therefore Trump did not entice her she came with the idea.

They didn’t all wear the regulation pussy hats. Many of them just wore assorted pink knit caps exactly like that one.

When it was first revealed that she broke a window, all the other criminals on the Group W bench moved away from her.

But when she told them she was also using her bullhorn to instruct others, they all moved back, shook her hand, and they had a great time on the bench, talkin about crime, mother stabbing, father raping, all kinds of groovy things that they was talking about on the bench.

American parents lost enough of their children. Women lost enough of their husbands and children enough fathers in senseless wars. The time has come to keep them home save their lives for when the lives matter to defend the country our country.

JUST IN: Donald Trump is mounting what appears to be the heart of his effort to derail the election-subversion case against him in Washington, D.C., filing three motions tonight to dismiss the case:1) On constitutional grounds
2) On legal grounds
3) For selective prosecution
Trump’s filings boil down to a few points:
1) The charges criminalize his constitutional right to petition govt
2) The charges fail as a matter of law (he didn’t use “trickery” against govt, he didn’t act “corruptly” to obstruct Congress)
3) The Senate acquitted him already.
He also wants at least an inquiry on “selective” prosecution, citing reporting on Biden’s views/comments about the case.
Prosecutors will have a chance to respond to these motions in the next few weeks.

I remember the posters that came out of that play/call, DePat. It’s a shame it happened to him because Denkinger was actually a good ump and person. What a way for him to be remembered. That can’t happen, but it did. With replay today it is moot. Such a shame.

I was conflicted in that series back then as I had been a Cards fan for years, but had golfed with Larry Gura and met a bunch of the Royals team during spring training a couple of years before that WS.

Yesterday someone, I think Molly, directed us to the CTH open thread for Israel updates by someone apparently over there. While scrolling about I noticed that Duchess was Interacting there beyond what she usually posts here. So if anyone here still has commenting privileges at CTH that might be the best way to attempt to interact directly w/ Duchess, fyi…

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

If she doesn’t respond to replies here, what makes you think she will respond to replies over there?

She posts multiple times each day. Yes, it’s the same stuff over and over again, but she does post.

Valerie Curren

I was speculating that she is perhaps not using the notifier to reply to anyone who replies directly to her but she was, at least as I saw yesterday at CTH, interacting w/ those who replied to her there on that open thread…

I really wasn’t trying to stir the pot & am glad that she has a place where she chooses to interface with others to some degree. I remain thankful for what she shares here as she reminds us to look up & retain hope 🙂

Jack Smith is a THUG

I know where you’re coming from Valerie.
I would want to know if I offended someone and would want to make amends even if it was done unintentionally.
and the fact the she is responding there and not here suggests something is amiss here…imo.

Valerie Curren

Yes & at Marica’s too where she had been Very Actively commenting…

I thought that “our” “derivative” sister blogs to CTH are better & also more intense than what CTH seems to have become. It could be that interfacing on CTH is like a bit of R & R from the more intense fray while still interfacing with Patriots & Believers.

If there is a breach, & that seems pretty likely, as a Christian it would be important to have reconciliation to whatever degree is possible. But that is at least a two-way process, depending on how many “offending” parties are involved, assuming offence is the issue…

Though the Bible admonishes us to not let the sun go down on our wrath it seems the management of painful interactions might be less straightforward. In my own life when the pain is deep the resolution & restoration of relationship (if it’s even possible) can be much more protracted because I rarely have sufficient emotional energy to sustain the reconciliation process as it can get bogged down in stickiness…

I guess as Duchess daily reminds us to pray for one another we need to remember to lift her in prayer as well

mollypitcher5

Maybe there’s no breach at all and she wants to share uplifting comments . Chit chatting at several places might be more than she wants. Everybody has places they prefer to blab at but I don’t feel slighted if this isn’t hers.

Valerie Curren

That’s also possible. It’s just when she departed Marica’s it was sudden & abrupt w/out explanation (my impression) & she had been sort of like the spiritual mother hen there. The daily prayer had included phrasing like praying for “Duchess who watches over us all”. She had been managing a pretty lengthy prayer daily there too as well as regularly posting Christian encouragements beyond what she typically shared here at the Q-Tree (like from Oswald Chambers “My Utmost for His Highest”, iirc). I think PAVACA/CV/RDS took over the daily prayer at Marica’s…

Gail Combs

Exactly,

I switched from NoNAIS to WUWT to ChiefIO and Tony Heller’s and then when Trump ran in 2015/6 I commented on TCTH and finally ended up here.

Tastes and interests change over time.

pgroup2

Why not just ask her why she ain’t here beyond her regular posts?

Valerie Curren

I’ve replied to her directly a few times w/ no response. As far as I know I’m still banned at CTH so can’t interface there. I “liked” a couple of her comments at CTH but I (& possibly everybody?) show up as a guest…

Going to the source is the best resort for sure 🙂

I don’t think she has a beef with me but if she does I’d love to (try to) clear the air 🙂

Well, … we would expect nothing less from you simply because you’re a high-class person. 😎

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

I didn’t see you as stirring a pot…I just couldn’t understand your reasoning.

Thanks for the explanation.

Valerie Curren

YW I thought there were people that had no idea where Duchess was beyond her typical daily commenting here so when I saw some interactions there I wanted to pass it along in case it eased anyone’s mind. Seeing her give replies to others made me smile at least 🙂

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

I think it’s safe to say that although she doesn’t want to completely disconnect from here, she doesn’t feel very comfortable.

Valerie Curren

That seems a reasonable assessment–TY 🙄

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

That said, there’s a decent chance she does have a beef with me.

Valerie Curren

LOL that atheism thing perhaps? 😉 😉

Sorry not to make light of things if that’s painful or difficult for you…

 🙄 😇 🤔

Well given she’s posted the “prayer” to Michael the archangel at CTH, she might be Catholic…as a Protestant there’s no way that I think praying to angels or “saints” or anyone other than God (Father, Son, &/or Holy Spirit) is scripturally authorized…

iirc, you’ve stepped on other Catholic’s toes before…

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

It was nothing to do with religion.

Valerie Curren

OK 🙂

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

I haven’t done nearly so much Catholic toe-mashing (specifically) as others here have done. In fact, I don’t honestly recall having done anything specific enough to offend *only* Catholics.

Valerie Curren

LOL I try to stay out of the divisive stuff unless it’s Really out there too. I guess I was “alluding” to presumed challenges w/ one particular prolific author who may be inclined to scroll past both our comments (& Scott’s) like avoiding porn or something 😉 😉

I am 78. I first heard this about a year ago and the tears flowed. I vowed to avoid hearing it again as it was so powerful and upsetting. Then I saw the YouTube video before this which explained it’s origins and decided to see your reaction. I started crying after the third line and 20 minutes later I have not stopped! Thank you for your reaction. I am glad I watched. I think perhaps I NEEDED to “hurt myself today to see if I still feel”. The emotional “hurt” of the song makes me appreciate what I have more. Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails called it an “unbelievably powerful piece of work.”
“I pop the video in, and wow… Tears welling, silence, goose-bumps… Wow,” Reznor said. “[I felt like] I just lost my girlfriend, because that song isn’t mine anymore… It really made me think about how powerful music is as a medium and art form. I wrote some words and music in my bedroom as a way of staying sane, about a bleak and desperate place I was in, totally isolated and alone. [Somehow] that winds up reinterpreted by a music legend from a radically different era/genre and still retains sincerity and meaning — different, but every bit as pure.”

The power of Music is WHY it was targeted by the Cabal. Even Country music is targeted. Think Bill Ivey a buddy of Podesta and Hilary.

Bill Ivey of Global Cultural Strategies
“…Cultural Policy shapes and directs the Expressive Life of societies through the framework of law, regulation, and customary practice that governs the creation, distribution, consumption, and preservation of knowledge, information, and art.
All societies have cultural policy.
The United States has neither a cultural ministry nor department of cultural affairs…..”

BIO

….From 1998 through 2001 Ivey served in the Clinton-Gore administration as Senate-confirmed chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, and in that capacity is credited with both increasing the agency’s budget and restoring good relations between the NEA and Capitol Hill.

Bill Ivey is a trustee of the Center for American Progress, and was a Team Leader in the Barack Obama presidential transition….

Ivey has extensive experience in the music industry. He was director of Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum for more than two decades, and was twice elected chairman of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. He is a four-time Grammy Award nominee. He is past president of the American Folklore Society, and today serves the Society as Senior Advisor for China.

Subject: From Bill Ivey

Well, we all thought the big problem for our US democracy was Citizens United/Koch Brothers big money in politics. Silly us; turns out that money isn’t all that important if you can conflate entertainment with the electoral process. Trump masters TV, TV so-called news picks up and repeats and repeats to death this opinionated blowhard and his hairbrained ideas, free-floating discontent attaches to a seeming strongman and we’re off and running. JFK, Jr would be delighted by all this as his “George” magazine saw celebrity politics coming.

The magazine struggled as it was ahead of its time but now looks prescient. George, of course, played the development pretty lightly, basically for charm and gossip, like People, but what we are dealing with now is dead serious. How does this get handled in the general? Secretary Clinton is not an entertainer, and not a celebrity in the Trump, Kardashian mold; what can she do to offset this? I’m certain the poll-directed insiders are sure things will default to policy as soon as the conventions are over, but I think not. And as I’ve mentioned, we’ve all been quite content to demean government, drop civics and in general conspire to produce an unaware and compliant citizenry. The unawareness remains strong but compliance is obviously fading rapidly. This problem demands some serious, serious thinking – and not just poll driven, demographically-inspired messaging.

Rubio’s press conference yesterday AM was good and should be repeated in its entirety, not just in nibbles. I will attend the Clinton fundraiser here next week but as I can only afford the low level of participation may just get to wave without a “hello.”

I fear we are all now trying to navigate a set of forces that cannot be simply explained or fully understood, so it is and will reamin interesting!

Sent with a handshake, Bill

…Ivey was the first full-time director of the Country Music Foundation and the related Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, having been promoted to the directorship a few months after first being hired as CMF librarian. He served from 1971 until 1998, though his tenure was not without controversy and scandal. In 1972 Ivey also became the founding editor of the Journal of Country Music, serving as editor until 1975.[2][1] In 1974 Ivey won a Billboard Country Award for album note writing.[3]

He also served as the chairman of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) from 1981 to 1983 and then again from 1989 to 1991,[4] the only individual elected to two separate terms.[1] In 1983 he said of the organization he headed that, “As time goes on, the Grammys have come closer and closer to satisfying the critics by recognizing what is happening now, but I don’t think we will ever get to the point where the critic’s choice for the most imaginative and innovative record of the year is going to be the Grammy winner. There will always be a little distance, and that’s probably healthy.” In 1988 Ivey was co-writer of the 30th Grammy Awards Telecast,[5][6] and in 1994 President Bill Clinton appointed Ivey to the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities.[1] In 1989, Ivey was one of the founders of Leadership Music, a program that brings together artists and music executives to build a stronger and more collaborative music community in Nashville.

Ivey was appointed chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, by then-President Bill Clinton, serving from 1998 to 2001. His “Challenge America” small-grant initiative is credited with restoring congressional confidence in the sometimes-embattled NEA. He gained national notoriety in 1999 for unilaterally revoking a grant to Cinco Puntos Press to publish La Historia de los Colores, over concerns that the funding might end up in the hands of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (Zapatistas). The grant was subsequently picked up and doubled by the Lannan Foundation.[7]

Following government service Ivey founded the Curb Center for Art, Enterprise and Public Policy, at Vanderbilt University, serving as director from 2002 to 2012.[8] The center was endowed by Mike Curb, American musician, record company executive, motorsports car owner, and former politician. He returned to Washington in 2007 as team leader in arts and humanities for the Barack Obama presidential transition. Ivey has written and lectured extensively about the importance of cultural policy and the value of cultural engagement in the pursuit of a high quality of life. He coined the phrase “Expressive Life” to define the part of the human experience shaped by cultural heritage and creative practice. From 2007 to 2018, Ivey was senior advisor for China to the American Folklore Society.[9] has been awarded honorary degrees from the University of Michigan, Michigan Technological University, Wayne State University, and Indiana University, and is a four-time Grammy Award nominee in the Best Album Notes category. Ivey currently serves as senior advisor to the Mike Curb Foundation, as a trustee of the Washington, D.C.-based Center for American Progress, and is visiting research scholar to the Indiana University Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology.[9]

jenna ellis pleads guilty and accepts a plea deal
FTA
The slew of recent plea deals in Atlanta District Attorney Fani Willis’ racketeering case signals a growing threat to Trump, who is fighting criminal charges in four separate cases as he runs for president in 2024.
Ellis, 38, pleaded guilty in Fulton County Superior Court to one count of aiding and abetting false statements and writings. The charge related to false claims of voter fraud that were made to members of the Georgia Senate at a hearing in early December 2020.
In a tearful statement before Judge Scott McAfee, Ellis expressed regret for her actions in the wake of Trump’s loss to President Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
“As an attorney who is also a Christian, I take my responsibilities as a lawyer very seriously and I endeavor to be a person of sound moral and ethical character in all of my dealings,” Ellis said.
“I believed that challenging the results on behalf of President Trump should be pursued in a just and legal way,” she said, but “I failed to do my due diligence.”
Instead, she said she relied on information that was provided to her by other lawyers “with many more years of experience.”
“If I knew then what I know now, I would have declined to represent Donald Trump in these post-election challenges,” she said.
“I look back on this whole experience with deep remorse.”
Ellis originally faced two felony charges in Willis’ indictment, which accuses Trump and 18 co-defendants of illegally conspiring to overturn Biden’s victory in Georgia’s 2020 contest.
The 98-page, 41-count indictment alleges Ellis urged state legislators in key swing states Biden won to appoint presidential electors who would vote for Trump.
Ellis will avoid prison time as part of her plea agreement. She was sentenced to five years of probation and must pay $5,000 in restitution, in addition to completing 100 hours of community service and penning an apology letter to the people of Georgia.

Since the speaker of the House can be anyone, effectively unelected by the people (although usually, if not always a congress critter), and is in the succession of the Presidency, maybe it’s high time that that office becomes an elective office too…

And, as for hiding things, like their father the Devil, they WILL be found out.

Romans 10:26-28:

26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.
28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

LOL you are one of a kind!

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Yes.

The way they taught balance of powers when I was in school, stressed the balances between the three branches of the federal government. They didn’t stress balancing powers between the state and federal levels.

Unfortunately the Senate as originally constituted was one of two ways the states could check the federal government…the other being a constitutional convention. so you had a baseball bat and a nuke in the arsenal. Now the baseball bat is gone, leaving only the nuke and people are rightly afraid to doss the nuke,

cthulhu

The Tenth Amendment has a subtle wording: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

States held a strong place under the Constitution of the “United States.” Unfortunately, ensuing history has demonstrated a long, slow deterioration of that status — punctuated by a massive expansion of Federal power during the Civil War.

While this “long march” has been the clear trend, I don’t see it as being inevitable or irreversible. It needs a sustained effort before it can even be slowed, however.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Another issue is that in many cases states retained too many powers…over their own citizens. They could engage in egregiously corrupt regulation of businesses and the like. That’s not an issue of federal/state so much as it is state/people. Sometimes in the past the feds have stepped in on the side of the people, at which point states would squawk about “states’ rights” (mind you I’m not claiming that all “states rights” complaints were illegitimate).

I don’t think the Constitution is (or was ever) perfect but it’s a damned sight better than any other one that has ever been attempted.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

That was part of the rationale behind the 17th amendment; the claim was that too many people were simply buying themselves a seat in the US senate by bribing key individuals in their legislatures. I have no idea how true it was. (I can’t believe it never happend, but I’m sure it didn’t always happen.)

Probably the biggest single problem–one that crops up again and again–is that certain people in legislatures end up with disproportionate power due to the way legislatures organize themselves, We have a US speaker of the house who has nearly dictatorial power and who is able to exact tribute from his own conference, just for instance, but this sort of crap exists in the 99 state houses (Nebraska is unicameral) as well.

pgroup2

The elephant in the room is that it is only the method of choosing senators that was changed by the 17th Amendment. Their purpose remained the same – to represent the interests of their respective states in relation to [and as part of] the federal govt.

Because senators are now elected by the people rather than state legislatures, they now are concerned with election [and re-election]. This has been improperly morphed into being representatives of the people – in essence, duplicating what already exists in the constitution. Adding to this problem is the insulation of six year terms instead of two years, which greatly insulates them from the responsibilities of either representing the states OR representing the people.

The constitution is fit to govern only moral and religious people. It is unfit for all others.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

I’ll take your rye seeds sprouting any day over the DOZENS of tiny loblolly pine seedlings that are cropping up everywhere in my yard here! I pull them out and discard them, then the next day, voila! —- another 20+ tiny seedlings that apparently came up overnight have to be pulled. My little Yorkie is actually helping me to find them when I take him outside for walks — I call them “tiny trees.”

I sure wish those loblolly pines were coming up HERE! When we had 80 acres logged they were supposed to leave some loblolly pines to reseed the place. Unfortunately all we are getting are gum trees!

Supposedly ALL candidates promised to immediately release the J6 tapes.

Gaetz said so in a tweet ahd he also promised to hold them to it.

So either Emmer releases the tapes, pronto, or he becomes the shortest-serving speaker of the house ever.

Those tapes are pretty darn important, second only to getting the borrow-and-spend under control.

OK…I’m not sure I believe it either, but it’s at least plausible.

TheseTruths

It could be a way to eliminate him, but he has to get past the full House vote first.

If Emmer fails that, he’s also eliminated. Someone else speculated this might just be to get him out of the way.

Hence the quotes. Because it’s so-called reasoning, not actual reasoning.

Gail Combs

I am all for removing cell phones, calculators and any other computers from students the moment they enter the school door.

Students should learn arithmetic and cursive writing just as a start….

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

I’d do something different…I’d allow four-banger calculators, AFTER they learn pencil and paper arithmetic. This would let them concentrate on the advanced concept being taught rather than the dogwork behind it (and they could solve more problems).

And heck why not slide rules?

But every once in a while, I’d forbid calculators for the day, just to keep them on their toes.

I’m less hard over on penmanship. I don’t mind someone “printing” or even doing a rough-and-ready connected printing that’s halfway between cursive and printing…provided of course it’s legible. Calligraphy (including super-elegant cursive) could be taught in art class.

Gail Combs

I have no problems with a calculator AFTER learning arithmetic including squareroots.

The reason I included cursive is for brain development.

…scientists are discovering that learning cursive is an important tool for cognitive development, particularly in training the brain to learn “functional specialization,” that is capacity for optimal efficiency. In the case of learning cursive writing, the brain develops functional specialization that integrates both sensation, movement control, and thinking. Brain imaging studies reveal that multiple areas of brain become co-activated during learning of cursive writing of pseudo-letters, as opposed to typing or just visual practice.

There is spill-over benefit for thinking skills used in reading and writing. To write legible cursive, fine motor control is needed over the fingers. Students have to pay attention and think about what and how they are doing it. They have to practice. Brain imaging studies show that cursive activates areas of the brain that do not participate in keyboarding.

Much of the benefit of hand writing in general comes simply from the self-generated mechanics of drawing letters. During one study at Indiana University to be published this year, researchers conducted brain scans on pre-literate 5-year olds before and after receiving different letter-learning instruction. In children who had practiced self-generated printing by hand, the neural activity was far more enhanced and “adult-like” than in those who had simply looked at letters. The brain’s “reading circuit” of linked regions that are activated during reading was activated during hand writing, but not during typing. This lab has also demonstrated that writing letters in meaningful context, as opposed to just writing them as drawing objects, produced much more robust activation of many areas in both hemispheres….

https://www.waldorftoday.com/2013/06/what-learning-cursive-does-for-your-brain-cursive-writing-makes-kids-smarter/

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

I don’t get the sense that it requires *cursive* per se, just some form of handwriting. It’s repeatedly contrasted with typing/keyboarding, not with printing letters.

I recall reading a newspaper article about a teacher who, rather than teaching “ball and stick” letters on “road paper” to his first graders, would teach them more fluid printing. Then the transition to actual cursive became largely connecting the letters together. (Some letters like r and s are a bit different of course. M and N are too but honestly I think the “approved” cursive should substitute a sharp spike for the first hump of both letters.)

Valerie Curren

It’s practically “criminal” how kids are not taught to either write nor read cursive. There are historical documents that they’ll never be able to verify for themselves…all sorts of issues with this come to mind 🙁

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

I know that styles of cursive have changed over the centuries, so even “knowing how to read cursive” I have difficulty with some older documents.

(And *Russian* cursive can get entertaining too, especially since they actually dropped four letters from their alphabet in 1918.)

cthulhu

One problem with Cyrillic in general is that they have a letter that looks exactly like a mashed bug.

Cuppa Covfefe

That was (poor old) Cyril… 🙂

Cuppa Covfefe

Where did they land? 😆

Finland?

(That would explain all of their umlauts and double-umlauted words 🙂 )…

Valerie Curren

Yes. I’ve checked out books from the library to learn more to help decipher historical documents in America. Some of the older ones have very unusual writing styles coming out of Europe, old Germany comes to mind as one challenging style originator…

mollypitcher5

.We’ve evolved so far that we’ve started going backwards. Why bother with school at all ?

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

One of the gripes during the covidschina was that kids weren’t going to school. That may have been one actual benefit of Covid. Given the trannyism and other indoctrination going on there, why does anyone (other than a hopeless Leftist) want their kids going to government school?

mollypitcher5

It really should be voluntary. They went through all the bullshit to create federal preschool, federal programs from birth to ensure learning . Everything from free food, free childcare, etc, etc..No child left behind right ? Oh wait..each year progressively they demand less and less from the students they spent $$$ on until it gets to the point that nothing is demanded.
Our govt is one big phony pork barrel

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Another issue is that in many states it is a false “right” enshrined in the constitution. So the school system has to try to educate special needs kids alongside genuinely gifted students. Not so bad until you run into idiot theories that say it’s damaging, somehow to separate these students so that each can get the sort of instruction that would best benefit them.

““A Dog Who Follows Gladly” is a splendid book to put on the shelves of children in your life. What our era cries out for in its overemotional hysteria is a return to the Stoic principles that have inspired generations of learned and civilized minds.

Though I received gratefully this first book as a review copy, I did not hesitate to purchase it and the aforementioned “The Stock Horse and the Stable Cat.” I particularly enjoyed that “A Dog Who Follows Gladly” includes quotes from Cleanthes of Assos (with whom I was unfamiliar) and Viktor Frankl at the beginning of the book. Van Treuren has drawn on a rich array of sources to offer a resource for young and old.

In addition to the two printed books, Stoic Simple features “The Stoic Fable Book: 100 Bedtime Tales to Help Kids be Kind, Resilient and Happy” and “The Urban Enchiridion: a Free Stoicism Book for Beginners.” These books can be read for free online. What a treasure trove!

If you are unfamiliar with Stoicism or feel intimidated by philosophy, the mark of a good children’ book is clarity and simplicity. Learn alongside your children for a happier home.”

Robert Baker

Steve in Co this question is for you.

How useful would ranked choice voting be in the Speaker’s race and would you endorse that approach?

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

The system they did use was a runoff based system, where everyone voted for one candidate and whoever got the least votes was dropped; repeat until someone got a majority. I suspect the reason they ended up with whats-his-bucket is that too many non RINOs ran at once and split the vote.

I don’t know if IRV would have led to a different result, honestly, because in some ways it’s equivalent. In IRV people would rank candidates, then the lowest votegetter for first choice would be dropped and whoever those voters chose for second would be deemed as getting their votes (then repeat). (This would all be done with ONE round of balloting.) But that’s basically equivalent to what did happen–a second round of balloting without the one dropped candidate, except that with IRV it all happens at once.

IRV in effect means you get to specify, on the first ballot, who you will vote for on the second ballot if your first choice gets dropped. What we had was instant runoff, without the “instant.” IRV has appeal because no matter how many runoffs there are, they are done all at once. Much more practical with millions of people voting!

IRV and what they did are not exactly equivalent because people have the opportunity to change their mind as to either their second choice (if their first choice got drooped) or even change their mind and vote for a different remaining candidate even if they one they voted for the first time around still is on the ballot.

Robert Baker

My understanding was the method you describe was for the nominating round. My question was specifically for the actual floor vote. Of course that would only be necessary if there were more than two candidates running.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Oh, the actual floor vote. Yeah, that’s different…and I lean toward no because of the peculiar situation here.

Well, with two candidates, IRV is moot. Someone will take a majority unless it’s a perfect tie.

IRV only becomes useful when there are third (and fourth, and fifth…) party candidates on the ballot.

But then, a lot of people don’t vote for one of the two official candidates. Usually, though, they’re voting for someone else because the “nominated” person is unacceptable…so IRV would still be moot; no one would have a second choice.

Perhaps if both parties were allowed to nominate multiple candidates IRV would be beneficial.

🚨BREAKING: Rep. Mike Johnson Wins Latest Secret Ballot – Is the New GOP Speaker-Designate

Who is Rep. Mike Johnson?

According to Social Media Strategist Joey Mannarino, Mike Johnson boasts a Liberty Score of 74%. A representative from Louisiana, Johnson has been a member of Congress since 2017 and has a generally strong voting record.

He played a key role in initiating the Texas Amicus Brief in 2020 and voted against the certification of the 2020 election results, which he viewed as fraudulent. Johnson has been selective in supporting funding for Ukraine, only voting in favor of the initial funding bill.

A strong advocate for national security, Johnson backed Trump’s travel ban on countries considered to be hotbeds of terrorism. He also served on Trump’s legal defense team during both the 2019 and 2020 Senate impeachment trials.

On the social front, Johnson is decidedly conservative. In 2022, he introduced the Stop the Sexualization of Children Act, aimed at preventing federally funded institutions from promoting the sexualization and transgenderization of children.

Additionally, Johnson is a personal friend with Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

The smart ones didn’t take the speed. Speed freaks are too buzzed to concentrate on keeping hostages safe enough to barter with.

Four agreements between Israel and Pfizer have been released via FOI lawsuit, still in a heavily redacted form. They prove that the Israeli government conducted forced experiments on people.”

The Harris Ranch Tesla Supercharger station is an impressive beast. With 98 charging bays, the facility in Coalinga, California, is the largest charging station in the world. But to provide that kind of power takes something solar can’t provide — diesel generators.

demons :wpds_mad:

Undercover journalist Karlyn Borysenko was present at the recent Socialism 2023 Conference, where she recorded a Q&A session from a talk on The Politics of Childhood. One question from an audience member revealed a desire on the part of the adults present for children to participate in the “sex industry as part of children’s liberation…”

WTH ??

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

This is the radical craziness that is happening in Ohio. If I recall correctly, Hillary Clinton was one of the advocates of “children’s liberation”!!!

The Ohio constitutional amendment in Issue One would basically legalize child sex with adults – worse yet – FOR MONEY.

Boy you’re going to need the “washing of water of The Word” every day you engage this particular battle!

This is just preliminary information. I didn’t study rDNA or mRNA either when I went to dinosaur school 100 years ago but I’ve asked for this to be passed by a geneticist and will have more info soon.

Real Health Flash: Medicine that’s Right
The Federal Act That Suspended Your Rights During The COVID Pandemic
In 1998 the Pentagon drafted an internal strategy paper that promoted the development of pandemic bioweapons. Apparently traditional armaments were considered a little too loud and messy. Perhaps something a bit more subtle and potentially untraceable was the object of their desire…

I saw the Netflix film on this situation, where the court case was still pending. As a parent of a child w/ complex medical needs what this family went through was truly frightening. The documentary was very well done but rather hard (for me) to watch, but well worth it. I hope they get some degree of justice, though nothing will bring back the wife/mother nor the years they all suffered needlessly in a brutal, indifferent, & unforgiving system 😪
