We had a few busy days this past weekend. Saturday my husband took me to a Detroit Red Wings hockey game at their “new” arena, LCA (Little Caesar’s Arena) where I’d never been. Last time we saw the Wings live we were given complementary access to Henrik Zetterberg’s box through U of M Hospital’s Social Work Department & that was awesome!
The LCA had a “no bags” policy that only allowed a very small purse, 4″ X 6″ X 1.5″ though mine was slightly larger as were some of the other women’s purses I observed. The guard outside the entrance had me open the bag & looked through my minimal items (wish I’d brought chapstick). I had a small water bottle & a couple of snack bars in my coat pockets but wasn’t searched so they made it in w/ us–Hubby has hypoglycemia so it’s always good to have protein or high fat snacks.
We parked for free in a “nearby” casino lot so probably ended up walking 3 miles or so by the time the night was done. We were on the second level but didn’t have to do any of the very steep stairs as our seats were the top row of auditorium seats on the level with that floor & there was an escalator from the street level.
Neither of us really know the current Red Wings anymore (they are no longer on regular TV like they were back in the day…sigh) since the Yzerman era when we had a Stanley Cup winning team in back to back seasons. The first year of the Stanley win in the late 90s the celebration was abruptly cut short by a terrible limo crash that severely injured Vladimir Konstantinov & 2 other Russians. Someone had a “Vladinator” shirt on at our game that was shown up on the jumbotron & it still got a huge cheer more than 2 decades since Vlady was a star player! Still brings tears to my eyes…

Detroit fans will never, ever forget Konstantinov. Such an absolute awe-inspiring, skilled, tough player. The way he played was so distinctive. I get tears every time. He redefines the term legendary.

+Russell E Agreed. To hit players in open ice the way he did (and not just anyone, players like Foresberg) is remarkable. He had to have been one of the best all-time at doing this. Ya, some may say he’d be suspended a lot in this day’s NHL but a lot of those checks were clean. Nothing wrong with lining someone up with their head down. The one on Lemieux is amazing.
We were blessed to see a pretty epic hockey game against an Original Six rival, Boston Bruins. After a couple of rough/soft goals against us the game evened out & we ultimately ended up on top for the win! We even were treated to a couple of fights, which really got the crowd going. Of course it was nothing like back in the day in the Western Conference games against the Avalanche. That was quite an amazing rivalry that we have some of the key games on DVD to still enjoy…We still savor basically the end of Patrick Roy’s career where we (finally) demolished him that was a Long Time Coming!

Perhaps the greatest rivalry in pro sports from 1996-2002. The Avs & Wings trading punches, back & forth for years. This was arguably the best playoff series of the 5 between the two…and it ended in shocking, almost anti-climactic fashion. This series featured 13 Hall of Fame players (14 when Datsyuk gets the call) and a hall of fame coach in Scotty Bowman.

We ended the night at a local eatery associated with long time player & broadcaster Mickey Redmond, a class act, & major Detroit sports enthusiast, where we saw the final minutes of U of M’s blowout football victory over Perdue! & the food was awesome.
So basically we already had our Christmas presents on this evening to remember!
Sunday we had most of the family over to share hunting tales from this year’s deer hunt, thus far, something we’ve never done w/ my parents before though was fairly regular when our kids still lived with us. Good food, good fellowship, & good fun! Our granddaughters were both there, one almost a year & a half & the other about a half year. They actually interacted a bit which was precious. I even got my first official kiss from the oldest granddaughter! Yesterday I watched the baby again while my daughter went to a couple appointments & she didn’t cry once! My heart is full but I’m still a little tired 😉

A Kill Switch is dangerous as HELL!
A few weeks ago I had my throttle linkage come disconnected, effectively acting as a ‘Kill Switch’ Thank goodness it was on a quiet 2 lane road and we were able to figure out the problem and fix it.
If that had happened on the interstate, while hauling a trailer, we could have been in a MASSIVE pile up.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. The senate has three “classes” set up as specified in Article I of the Constitution. 2024 is when Class 1 gets elected. And apparently Nebraska’s open Class 2 seat is up for special election as well.
In the below map, any state with a 1 block in it has a senate seat coming up. The color of the block will indicate if it’s Dem or Republican following the 2000 color scheme which is now standard.

REPORT: Donald Trump reportedly pulled out a piece of paper from his suit jacket in court, claiming it would clear him of all wrongdoing in the $250M fraud case.
Left-wing Judge Arthur Engoron refused to let him read it.
The paper in question reportedly was a disclaimer clause relating to a financial statement that AG Letitia James is using to go after him.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — A flaw in Northampton County’s voting machines forced multiple polling places to turn to provisional ballots Tuesday morning.
A programming error with the county’s ES&S ExpressVote XL machines is causing votes to flip when voters split their votes on retention questions for Superior Court judges Jack Panella and Victor P. Stabile. Panella, of Palmer Township, is a Democrat while Stabile is a former chair of the Cumberland County Republican Committee.
If a voter cast a “Yes” vote for one of the incumbents, but a “No” vote for the other, the votes come out flipped, Northampton County Executive Lamont McClure said.
McClure characterized the error as relatively minor and stressed all votes will be counted. But he expressed his frustration that the mistake wasn’t caught during pre-election testing.
“I’m livid at the election folks and ES&S,” McClure said.
LehighValleyNews.com staff found poll workers across the county pulled their machines off-line and relied on provisional ballots when the error was discovered in the early hours after voting precincts opened.. After the first few reports, county officials texted all locations to keep workers informed, according to a county news release.
But Northampton County Judge Abe Kassis ruled Tuesday morning that the county could continue to use the machines, McClure said. In cases where the error would pop up for the retention question, the county would flip the results during the post-election canvass. This followed a recommendation by the Pennsylvania Department of State, McClure said.
Glenn Geissinger, chair of the Northampton County Republican Committee, said his party intends to appeal this decision.
His committee supports extending voting hours to accommodate any voters who may have been turned away but objects to allowing the county to interpret how flipped votes for the Superior Court retention question should be handled, he said.
Problems began early
The flaw appears to have been discovered relatively quickly. By 8:30 a.m., 90 minutes after the polls opened, voting machines had already been cast aside in multiple polling places.
The problems appeared widespread, with voters using paper ballots at Bethany Wesleyan Church on Blue Mountain Drive in Cherryville, Lehigh Township.
The same problem was ongoing at College Hill Presbyterian Church on College Hill in Easton and at the Allen Township Fire Company on Howertown Road.
Staff with @LVNewsdotcom are getting reports from Allen Township, Easton, Lehigh Township, Northampton and Williams Township of issues with the voting machines. I’ve reached out to Northampton County, where officials say they’ll be releasing a statement.
