I suspect “a gun” was a limiting factor in the response.
It’s like asking people if they have a sock.
If they had worded the question differently, i.e., do you or someone in your household own a gun or more than one, the number would likely have been around 85 to 90%.

We commonly read, record NICS checks as a gauge of gun sales. Utter nonsense.
Prolly several scenarios I have not pondered.
You can probably assume that if there were ten million NICS checks, then at least ten million guns were sold. All of your factors would tend to increase that number.
Comparing from one time period to another is hazardous of course because it’s possible that the month that had the fewer checks had more gun sales because more people did multiples.
Also note that *used* gun sales don’t add to the number of guns in private hands. Billy has one more gun, Bob has one less.
I firmly advocate for more gun control: More guns should come under the control of people.

30 years ago today my oldest child Nathaniel was born, just a few months shy of my 30th B-day. That was on the 30th anniversary of JFK’s assassination which I learned since that was all that was talked about on the hospital TV all day.
N is well beyond my life experience at that age, which is awesome. He bought a home in his early 20s & married about a half year later. Their first child was born when he was 28, the age I was when I got married. Now they are expecting their second child this Spring. Our second pregnancy was w/ twins & that’s when our lives took a pretty big swerve into special needs traumas.
We’ve all come such a long way & we are very blessed to see our kids doing so well, following hard after the Lord, & perpetuating the fun, random chaos that has become a family trademark.

The problem, of course, is that if you paint your house General Lee Orange, it is going to destroy the property value of the houses on either side of you and across the street, because nobody is going to want to buy those houses, at least not at fair market value, because they’re next door to an eye sore.
We have a right to swing our fists, right up to the point where our fist makes contact with someone else’s nose.

We can do whatever we want on our own property, right up to the point that we diminish the value of someone else’s property by our actions.

Cash shortage. Yeah, right. The endowment is nine figures.
There’s a movement to reconfigure all sorts of stuff, and I am not sure where it is coming from. The artificial priest shortage is being used as an excuse to reduce the footprint. Once the spirit of the 70s guys are out of the high offices, things will change. As it is, the priests of the various orders with communities here – Jesuit, Dominican, Franciscan, Vincentian – all help out where needed to fill the gaps.
As for Latin Mass (TLM) around here, we’re one of the few archdioceses that didn’t just get a declaration that it would be ending. The various parishes that do it got very quiet phone calls that most ignored. We’ve had TLM since 1984 when it was reinstated, and have two oratories. TLM won’t be stamped out here like the satanists who think they run world want to happen.
Rozanski was sent here to downsize us. We know that. The Catholics here pushed back, and we were the first archdiocese to do so when the company that does this work came to town. They were stunned. In the end, they made a BIG mess, and ticked off a lot of people with big money. They use strictly static metrics to make decisions, and that did not go over well. No history or socio-economic factors of the neighborhoods were taken into consideration. I mean, there were (and still are) certain parishes left open as magnet parishes for the revolutionaries over the years, and almost all of those are now private chapels who hire their own priest.
That they are now eyeing the grade schools is not surprising. There are a few that really are not big enough to keep open. However, there are MANY that are. The biggest issue is people aren’t having as many kids as they used to. When I was a kid, the average number of offspring per household in the parish was about five. That and the aging housing in the city is not attracting families. Plus, older adults are not moving out of their houses. It just is what it is. Where I live, the housing is bigger, and there are two thriving schools in adjacent parishes – and the goofball company wanted to put the two together. Yeah, that didn’t happen. As it is, the parish where I sing in the county got put together with a parish that really had a much different character. It’s not really a good fit. I expect a lot of parish shopping to go on in the next year.
So, that’s where we are. A lot of people here have no use for Rozanski after May, Rigali, and Carlson. We stay for the Sacraments.
I forgot the Marianists and the Benedictines as orders with priests here. Both have all-boys high schools.
Don’t forget the baby boomers are retiring and that was a big post WWII increase in babies. I hope when POTUS Trump returns in 2025, we can have a new baby boom!! Go young adults, go! Make lots and lots of new Americans. ❤

I was listening to a John McWhorter lecture on linguistics recently.. He mentioned that there is one small town somewhere in Italy that still speaks Latin as the common language.

So how did some village not change their language at all over the intervening centuries?
Sometimes you do run into a “conservative” culture whose language just doesn’t change much. Icelandic, for instance, hasn’t changed much; apparently Latvian and Lithuanian haven’t changed much either.

Page 21 also makes it clear that the company’s modRNA COVID-19 “vaccine candidate” BNT162 [BNT162b2 in the United States and BNT162b2/BNT162b3 in Germany. BNT162b3 was later removed as a “vaccine candidate” for use in the United States.] WAS BEING USED IN THE UNITED STATES AND IN GERMANY BY 18 SEPTEMBER 2020.
What this means is that between May, 2020 (the start of the C4591001 clinical trial) and September, 2020, Pfizer-BioNTech changed over from “Process 1” to “Process 2.”

I watched and listened and was impressed with Geert Wilders.
In recent years, Wilders has been aligned with the Netherlands Farmers who have been targeted by the Government under the leadership of WEF acolyte, Mark Rutte. Being that the Netherlands is ruled by WEF and is tied to the European Union, I tend to agree that it’s perhaps too late. But…Geert Wilders is a fighter, he’s smart and he knows how to watch his back so perhaps, giloo there is still a teeny tiny flicker of hope for the Dutch people.
On another note, I find it interesting that on the same day that Geert Wilders is named the new Prime Minister, two individuals blow themselves up at the US/Canada border in New York in what I believe to be another Government “false flag” event, so they can start to promote their “anti-muslim” narratives once again….

I’m halfway through and find it well worth my time. I had wondered when we would start seeing these kinds of stories.
I didn’t realize that that article is from October of 2022. The first half is an indictment of the medical profession, and the second half is about what she discovered about polyethylene glycols and other substances. I was reminded of Pavaca and all her research, as I read. 😊
One of the many things I find appalling is the continued push to get people vaxed and to develop new vaccines. Since this article came out, I haven’t seen any effort on the part of the medical establishment to educate the public, to put ingredient lists on vaccines, to have informed consent, or to make vaccines safer. I don’t know how they can expect to be trusted.

Went to like this at X and the first reply said the video was reversed. The author, Enez agreed. Still, it’s very cute. They could have played the video forward and I still would have liked the dismount. LOL
Yeah, the way she wound up to jump didn’t look quite right, and even if she did, the jump was too perfect, exactly high enough to grab the bar, not even the tiniest bit higher.

Bob Vander Plaats, an evangelical leader in Iowa, has admitted to being paid 95K by the DeSantis campaign prior to his endorsement. What a waste of money – considering this guy was happy to be a Never Trumper for free.
Money laundering of some sort.
And to top it off, the evangelical ‘leader’, rather than being shamed, says he should have “charged more”…
