I believe I saw 3 last night! we slept in the great room last evening and i woke up in the middle of the night and was amazed by all the stars. while watching, i thought i saw a shooting star. then a few minutes later i saw another…and later a third. I had no idea they were meteors!!!

Shooting stars are almost invariably meteors of some kind.
The vast majority burn up in the atmosphere; large chunks (which will be very bright as meteors) hit the ground and are then classified as meteorites.

Be careful. I’ve read the petition to SCOTUS. It uses a case called Van Buren v US as support for the relief being sought in the petition.
Justice Thomas authored the dissent in Van Buren. I doubt very much that he would take the opposite position in this case.
Unless he can find some way to walk the tightrope …
It probably cites that case in order to try to box Thomas in. The case may not even have the slightest relevance.
Of course, the way things are going (see Michael Cohen’s lawyer story), it’s probably good that it’s a real case instead of an AI hallucination.

I read that case too. It lays out a principle that a statute must be read for the same meaning as the ones around it. The problem in the Van Buren case is that Thomas did not agree that the statutes should ‘box’ themselves in, while the main opinion did.
The J6 petition leans heavily on a case that Thomas disagreed with. Thomas is famous for having the same views today that he had 30 years ago. IOW he doesn’t change and he doesn’t do politics in his opinions.
Sounds like this case likely might NOT go in the J6 defendants’ and Trump’s favor, then.
Well, for Thomas and Alito it looks like a no. JMO.

So let’s take a journey outside the hallowed halls of the Ivy League to the land of the Kudzu Vines to give one example of what is happening in many flyover states.
This state’s land grant University of Tennessee/Knoxville in the hillbilly southeast had a 91% freshman retention rate. They accepted 10K freshman applications out of 40K applicants this year. The average ACT score was 27+ and the average HS GPA was 3.96 (of 4.00) for the 10K accepted. Instead of DEI, which was openly deemphasized despite the state legislature not yet having taken it on (they will); they created an office/staff whose sole purpose is to assist all students in achieving their academic goals and career aspirations while reinforcing their personal value as human beings. They assist students in all aspects of campus life only as REQUESTED by the students themselves. As a result the retention is growing rapidly, the students are succeeding at higher rates, etc. The campus has become far safer for all students.
Of course, the university’s system president is a highly successful businessman and a life long state resident who is an alum. He brought successful business and human interaction practices into academia of that school that had been lost and floundering for over a decade.
They have run out of room to house the increasing number of students with private developers expanding student housing all over including conversion of motel/lodging type facilities into dorm style housing on campus. They are in the process of receiving appropriate approvals for building a pedestrian bridge over the Tennessee River to ease access to student apartment housing that is growing rapidly on the other side that will reduce vehicle traffic congestion in the area of the campus.
Because the university is now doing things well, the rest of the business community around it is flourishing. New businesses are popping up in nearby downtown such that city leadership has begun closing vehicle access to a 4-5 block section of the main street through downtown on weekends to provide more pedestrian access to all of the restaurants, theaters, retail shops and events there. It is becoming a festive location for the entire region.
Do things right and success follows. Use higher education to achieve woke and communist agendas, failure follows. Mommas don’t let your babies grow up to be Ivy Leaguers. Encourage them to go to the successful flyover states.

That getting the ice off the truck video reminded me of a few things.
First, I would think using a knife would be likely to scratch the paint so no thanks. In a pinch if one doesn’t have an ice scraper you could use a credit card, though that would probably take a Very Long Time I would want to get at least one door open & slam it shut a few times to see if it would loosen the ice too. Getting the car going with heat & defrost on high would help there obviously 🙂
Second, hubby once tried to use very hot water to melt ice to get into a frozen lock on our car–big no, no! I think we ended up using a hair dryer on an extension cord…
Third, having had issues with unlocked vehicles that had the doors frozen shut hubby once Ripped the Handle off my car door (that was actually locked) trying to get in–I still tease him about this one & his brute strength–he downplays it saying the handle was plastic (yeah this is the guy that still says he’d rather be shot in the leg with a nail gun–really happened when re-roofing our house a couple years back–than deal with a cold)…
Finally, once when I was a kid my family drove Detroit to Tucson (my parents drove straight through one leg, switching off drivers as needed) around Christmas. On one side of that trip we encountered freezing rain driving through NM & after my mom spinning the station wagon out w/ us 3 kids flying around in the back end they stopped for the night at a motel. This was the era when there were license plates on both the front & back of the vehicle. Dad pointed out the 5″ layer of ice coating the front license plate–Wild. I’d never seen such icing in Michigan as we were always more likely to have snow or sleet than freezing rain.
I wish we had a pic of that license plate for there’s nothing close I’m finding on an image search…I remember my dad knocking that ice off & seeing the reverse impression of the license plate numbers which reminds me of an Horatio trick on CSI Miami where they did an impression of the impact point of the car’s license on a briefcase, revealing a partial license, to help solve a hit & run murder case…

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Michael Cohen’s lawyer possibly included fake cases in filing, federal judge says

A lawyer for Michael Cohen, a former lawyer for President Trump, may have included fake cases in a November filing, a federal judge said.
U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman questioned cases highlighted in a motion by David M. Schwartz, a lawyer for Cohen, to have Cohen’s supervised release ended early in a Tuesday filing. Cohen pleaded guilty to charges including tax evasion and campaign finance violations back in 2018 and was sentenced to three years in prison and three years of supervised release, but only spent a little over a year in prison.
Furman noted three cases that Schwartz mentioned in the November filing, saying “[a]s far as the Court can tell, none of these cases exist.”
“In light of the foregoing, Mr. Schwartz shall, no later than December 19, 2023, provide copies of the three cited decisions to the Court,” Furman said in the filing.
This is the state of the legal profession in 2023.
Lawyers in major cases, even cases related to the POTUS and having the highest visibility, submit wholly made up documents to the Court, attempting to pass them off as actual case law, in the attempt to deceive the judge into rendering a decision in their favor.
It’s positively insane.
The high school and college system has failed so utterly, there needs to be a four year school of Ethics degree required before Law Skule can even begin.
Not that the School of Ethics wouldn’t be immediately corrupted, it would be.
But it would add a much needed dose of hilarity to legal proceedings, and slow down the flood of lawyers into a hyper-legalized system by four years.
There also needs to be some licenses to practice revoked for intentional crap like this.

I watched it. A few things (not making excuses);
One objection made (by Hunter’s team, I guess) was that the House had not formally voted on an impeachment inquiry. That video was taken yesterday, before that vote had happened.
Jim Jordan emphasized that the way you get to the truth is to question the witness behind closed doors. That stops the endless filibustering and grandstanding. They want a private hearing with Hunter.
When asked if they were going forward with contempt, Jordan says there is a process you have to follow and you have to file a report. Lawyers for the Oversight Committee and Judiciary Committee are moving in that direction.
The reporter(s) kept asking questions that defended the Bidens. At the end, Marjorie Taylor Greene said she would have liked to ask Hunter about sex trafficking women across state lines. “You don’t seem to care about that.” 🔥

I wonder if the space at the top right box might need to stay beteen the “d” and “a”. When I first saw those two boxes, I wondered if the shift happens once or multiple times and eventually, the shift would “right itself” or not.
This shows an approximate picture, but there is not generally a continually repeating sequence. It is more like the original was expected to be some sequence of the four nucleotides A (Adenin), C (Cytosin), G (Guanin), and Ψ (Pseudouridine) (which replaced Uracil, U), in a certain random-looking, but specific, order, which three by three form amino acids, and collections of these form proteins. Then whenever one of the Ψ is skipped in the copying stage, all the subsequent amino acids produced will be off-by-one.
There is a table here, that shows how each of the 64 combination of three of these four nucleotides encode different amino acids. There is some overlap or redundancy, in that several of the amino acids appear from more than one triplet combination.

The table shows U for Uracil, but this will have been replaced by the Pseudouridine, Ψ.

Not the same as the original, and all bets will be off as to what exactly is produced. And there is no reason why another one of the Ψs elsewhere couldn’t drop out at the same time.
From the original report, I had wondered whether the frameshifting was off by one base (as illustrated by slowcreekno), or by one codon (triplet). In once case, you’d be using entirely inappropriate amino acids; while, in the other, you’d have mostly correct amino acids in the wrong order.
Even if you had long stretches of the right amino acids, proteins require folding after their amino acids have been sequenced into place. It would be highly unlikely that a protein missing some amino acids would fold properly.
It appears, however, that the dropouts are of single bases (or mostly so), and thus the sequence produces garbage strings of random amino acids.
Aren’t misfolded proteins the cause of prion disease? And aren’t some of the reported injuries from the Covid vaxx prion-type diseases? Like Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease?

I recall coming across some historical material on Roy Rogers some years back. Of course there was a club for kids back in the 50s and 60s. As I recall the kid needed to send in some cereal boxtop and a dime to join. I am sure during the 50s and 60s the post office moved a lot of boxtops across the nation.

I had the leather chaps, the bandana, the matching leather vest, the cowboy hat, cowboy boots, spurs, a Mattel holster and belt slung low on my hip (Clint Eastwood style), with a Colt cap gun (black metal, white handle) and a Winchester cap gun rifle.
Except my experience was a little more recent than the depiction in the photo above (when I was a kid, the world was already in color).
The rifle was pretty amazing.
It took roll caps like a regular cap gun, but it also had spring-loaded brass shells with gray plastic bullet tips that were inserted into the shells, and then the bullets were loaded through the side of the rifle receiver, into the magazine tube under the barrel, just like a real Winchester.
When the cap gun rifle fired, the hammer also discharged the gray plastic bullet tip out through the barrel of the rifle. When you cocked the rifle, it ejected the spent shell and loaded the next round, just like a real rifle. I loved it. It was just like the movies, or Wild, Wild West (Robert Conrad and Ross Martin) and Gunsmoke (Marshal Matt Dillon).
A year or so later, they started manufacturing a plastic crossbar inside the barrel, so the projectile could no longer leave the barrel in the new models.

We didn’t have an actual woods to play in, but on our block, there was about a 15 foot space or alleyway, all grass, between where the back of our property ended and the back of the neighbor’s property (on the other side of the block) began, that ran the full length of the block.
This area was completely overgrown with trees and bushes and weeds and grass, like a jungle, with a walking path worn down by the kids that weaved left and right to go around bushes and trees, so you couldn’t see more than about 20 feet down the path before the view was obstructed by some overgrowth.
So that’s where we played cowboys and Indians, cops and robbers, Americans and Germans or Americans and Japs, all of it.
I used to supply the neighborhood kids with toy rifles for anybody who didn’t have one. I had two different M16s (one a blank gun, the other mechanical that made firing sounds when the trigger was pulled), one that looked like a WWII grease gun, bolt-actions, an elephant gun with a scope, M1 Garand, cork gun rifles (we used dirt after the corks were lost, jam the end of the barrel into the dirt to load), blank guns, cap guns, S&W J-frame snubby blank gun, even a two-shot Derringer cap gun — a gun for every occasion!
I never left the house as a kid without being ‘armed’… felt nekkid without a gun 😂

Where it says ‘Cartridge Storage’ (molded into the plastic above and below the indentation in small print, see pic immediately below) is where the ammunition was inserted. It was a spring-loaded ‘door’, so after you inserted the plastic bullet tip into the spring-loaded brass shell, you pressed the shell against the rifle where it says “Cartridge Storage”, and as the ‘door’ depressed inward, you pushed the ammo forward into the magazine.
Just like the real deal. I’m pretty sure anyway, I’ve never actually shot a real Winchester cowboy rifle.
In the photo above, you can see where it says “Shootin Shell”, with a bullet detached from the shell.
You can still get them on eBay, new in the package, 50+ years old 😁
But not cheap! They’re asking $59 for a package with 3 brass shells and around 25 plastic bullet tips (here). The package says ©1958 but they were still selling these in stores in the early 1970s.
I still have a few of the brass shells and a couple of the plastic bullet tips from when I was a kid. Not sure about the rifle, it could be in my Mom’s attic.

· Two men damaged figures of St. Joseph, one of the Wise Men, a donkey and the Baby Jesus in Pearl River, New York.
· Vandals armed with machetes damaged a Christmas display in front of a home in Las Vegas, Nevada.
· In Manchester, New Hampshire a five-foot tall figure of one of the Wise Men was stolen from a nativity scene that had been set up for 40 years.

· Half of a nativity scene, including the baby Jesus and manger, was stolen from a Baptist church in Danville, Virginia.
· In Woodland, California a priest discovered someone broke off a head of a shepherd in a nativity scene inside Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
· Figures of St. Joseph and the baby Jesus were stolen in front of a home in Visalia, California.
· Two women stole the Wise Men from a nativity scene outside of Town Hall in Stony Point, New York.
· A thief made off with a nativity set from a home in Athens, Alabama.
· In Sandusky, Ohio figures of the baby Jesus and the Virgin Mary were stolen from a church’s nativity scene.
· A life size nativity scene was stolen from the front yard of a home in Fort Myers, Florida.
· A nativity set was stolen from a Chick-Fil-A restaurant in East Point, Georgia.
· A figure of the baby Jesus was stolen from a home in Beaverton, Oregon.
· A sheep and camel were stolen from a nativity scene worth over $1,000 in Clinton Township, New Jersey. The vandals also damaged or stole Christmas decorations from at least six homes.

I’m just going to note that both media outlets are government outlets. The Guardian is a major propaganda outlet that’s wrong more times than its right in its reports and well, Politico has been used by the Democrats to engineer their narratives since its inception….

I’ve noted before that the leftist media does report on news. Sometimes I find information there that right-wing, alternative media doesn’t report on, and they do present actual facts. The major problem is that they so often spin them. But facts like a person’s being present at an event or testifying can generally be relied upon.
I don’t place much importance on either of the events I presented in the grand scheme of what concerns all MAGA Americans. They are just events in the lives of those two men. I see no reason why Politico or The Guardian would make them up.
I also don’t see why anyone might question those nothing-burger stories. For our purposes, they are merely evidence of two events in the lives of the two men.
Please clarify: Is the thinking that the two of them have mysteriously disappeared and that any sightings of them must be false? Or that any news outlet that has reported on them must be making up the story?
As for a “data point”:
• Why should either of them have given a press conference? I see no reason for it.
• The fact that they haven’t written books is not evidence of anything.
Not everyone writes a book after leaving government service, and not everyone remains in the public eye.

This one chart is all you need to know. Deaths go UP. They are supposed to go DOWN.
This is deaths per month since getting Shot #1 in the months of July, Aug, Sept 2021. The x-axis is the months since shot #1 was given. All ages are included so nobody accuses me of “cherry picking.” The deaths are counted relative to the day that the person got the shot.
The reason this is so stunning is the deaths keep going UP every month for the first year.
This is counter to two strong forces causing it to go DOWN for the first 6 months:
In a “safe vaccine” (if there was such a thing), the deaths per day always falls monotonically, typically a few percent or more if the cohort is older. There can be a short period of this being violated if something big is happening in the background and the shot was given over a short time period. For practical administration of a vaccine, the curves always slope down after a few weeks from day 0 (known as the temporal healthy vaccinee effect).
The cause of this is it is a fixed size cohort and deaths are always proportional to the number of people available to die. This is why “relatively” safe vaccines (there are no safe vaccines) have deaths per day that always slope down. August is a peak death month in New Zealand (the equivalent of our “winter” in the northern hemisphere).
So I chose the peak month of death for when the vaccine is given and two months around that just to get more data points so there is less noise. So there is a heavy bias for deaths to drop over 6 months due to background seasonality (a 27% drop) effects (death rates going down dramatically.

This is excellent scientific reasoning. Kirsch really understands these curves. I was worried about the seasonal thing, and what he did was to ZERO from that point, with the effect working AGAINST any rising of the curve – AND YET HE STILL SEES RISING.
