The Kingdom of God
The Kingdom of God is . . . righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God.
Paul says in Romans verse 14:17, “For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Then in verse 18 Paul confirms that serving Christ like that is indeed a manifestation of God’s Kingdom because it pleases God. “Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God. So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.”
What does Paul mean by “Kingdom of God”
This is the only place in the book of Romans where Paul uses the word “kingdom.” But he uses it elsewhere and we can know what he means by “Kingdom of God.” Four clarifications:
1) First, he means the reign of God, not the realm of God. We tend to think of a kingdom as a place. But for Jesus and for Paul it almost never has that meaning. Rather it means the reign or the rule of God. You can see that here: Where the Holy Spirit is bringing about righteousness and peace and joy, the Kingdom (that is, the reign of God) is being manifested.
2) The Kingdom of God refers to His saving reign, not to His total providence over all things. In one sense God reigns over all. So you could call everything “God’s Kingdom.” But that is clearly not the way Paul uses the term. The Kingdom of God is God’s redemptive reign. His saving reign. When Jesus said to pray, “Hallowed by your name, your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6: 9-10), He meant that the coming of the Kingdom would be the extent of God’s rule where His name is hallowed and His will is done the way angels do it—obediently and joyfully. So the Kingdom of God is God’s reign, not realm; and it’s His saving, redeeming reign bringing about the hallowing of His name and the joyful doing of His will.
3) The Kingdom of God is fulfilled partially in the present and will be consummated at the end of the age when Christ comes a second time. Paul speaks of unbelievers not inheriting the Kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9), and so treats the Kingdom as yet future. But then he also says to believers that “He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the Kingdom of His beloved Son,” and so treats the Kingdom as already present.
4) The Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Christ are the same. He says in Ephesians 5:5, “Everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous . . . has no inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God.” There is one Kingdom, and it’s the Kingdom of Christ and of God. So to serve the Kingdom of God is to serve Christ, and to serve Christ is to serve the Kingdom of God.
So Paul is saying in verse 16, Don’t use your good—your good faith and your good liberty—to hurt anyone. Don’t put that much weight on eating and drinking. It’s not that crucial. Why? He answers in verse 17: Because “the Kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”
The saving, redeeming, sanctifying rule of God—the Kingdom of God—has broken into this world in Jesus Christ, the Messiah—the King—and the evidence of His rule in your lives is not eating and drinking. You may think that your liberty to eat all things is what God’s Kingdom produces. But that’s not quite right. What the Kingdom produces is something far deeper and larger than how you use your liberty to eat.
Righteousness and Peace and Joy in the Holy Spirit (v. 17)
What does Paul mean that “the Kingdom of God is . . . righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit”? That is not immediately obvious because Paul uses at least two of these terms in more than one way. Righteousness can mean the righteousness that God imputes to us when He declares us righteous through faith even when we are guilty sinners (Romans 4:5). And it can mean the righteousness that He then, on the basis of that right standing, begins to work in us (Romans 6:13, 16, 18, 19, 20). And peace can mean the peace that we have with God (Romans 5:1) or the peace we have with each other (2 Corinthians 13:11).
Paul has in mind the second kind of righteousness and peace—namely, the kind that God works in us in relationship to each other. But it may be that he wants us to think of both and remember that our practical righteousness and peace that we work out with each other is built on the perfect righteousness that He imputes to us by faith alone and the peace that we enjoy with him.
It’s remarkable how similar this sequence of righteousness, peace, and joy is with the sequence of thought in Romans 5:1-2. “Since we have been justified by faith [that is, declared righteous!], we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through Him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” So there is righteousness imputed through faith, peace with God, and joy in the hope of His glory.
Paul is probably referring to our practical lived-out righteousness (rather than the imputed righteousness of Christ) and the practical-lived out peace with each other is the phrase “in the Holy Spirit.” “The Kingdom of God is . . . righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” This seems to mean that the Holy Spirit is working these things right now. He is ruling in us to make us more righteous, more peaceable, and more joyful. This seems to be the fruit of the Spirit now, not a declarative act back at the beginning of our Christian lives. This work is built on justification by faith. But now the Spirit is producing in us these things: righteousness, peace, and joy.
That, Paul says, is the Kingdom of God. In other words, the work of the Holy Spirit and the advancing of the Kingdom of God are the same thing. This is exactly what we saw in the ministry of Jesus, for example, in Matthew 12:28. Jesus said, “If it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the Kingdom of God has come upon you.” The work of the Spirit is the presence of the Kingdom of God. Or to say it another way: The reign of God is exercised through His Spirit.
So when the Spirit rules and conquers our selfishness and pride, and replaces it with Christlike righteousness, then we will not grieve and destroy a brother for the sake of food. The Spirit of God—the Kingdom of God—creates righteousness and peace and joy. This is what the Spirit of God does. He creates righteousness and peace and joy. And when you have these, you don’t grieve and destroy a weaker brother.
Serving Christ in This Way Is Pleasing to God (v. 18)
Then in verse 18 Paul confirms this by explaining that what he has just said is in fact what pleases God. “Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God.” That is, whoever serves Christ in the way that verse 17 just described is pleasing to God.
What did verse 17 say? It said that righteousness comes “in the Holy Spirit.” And when it comes “in —or by—the Holy Spirit,” it’s the Kingdom of God coming. So if you serve Christ that way, you please God. What does that mean? What is it here that pleases God?
What pleases God is not just when we serve Christ—not just when we try to do the righteousness that He commands—but when we do it in a certain way. And that way is described in verse 17 as “in the Holy Spirit.”
There is a way to serve Christ that would dishonor Christ. That’s why Jesus said in Mark 10:45, “The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” There is a way to serve Christ that would dishonor him. And there is a way to serve God that would dishonor God. That’s why Paul said in Acts 17:25, “God is not served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.”
Christ and God are dishonored if we serve with the mindset that they need us, and are dependent on us instead of us being dependent on them for life and breath and ransom and everything. What pleases God is when He is shown to be the giver in our service of him. If we serve God as though we are the giver and He is the needy one, He is not pleased. It makes Him look needy and dependent. But He is not.
So verse 18 says, “Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God.” That is, whoever serves Christ—obeys Christ, pursues the righteousness that He commands—in the way described in verse 17 is pleasing to God. Namely, the one who depends on the Holy Spirit for what he pursues. The one who serves with the deep and happy confidence that God is always serving us in our service of Him. He always remains the supplier. Always.
A text that is frequently prayed is 1 Peter 4:11. Peter exhorts each of us to be “one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.” Serve with the expectation that the strength to serve will come from God. Then God will get all the glory. Do we want our serving to be an expression of His Kingdom or of our power?
What pleases God, is when our serving is the Fruit of the Holy Spirit. This is why the writer to the Hebrews closed his book with this benediction, “Now may the God of peace . . . equip you with everything good that you may do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
God works in us what is pleasing in His sight. And the fact that He works it in us is part of what makes it pleasing in His sight.
The Kingdom of God is not food and drink. It is righteousness, peace, and joy which come by the powerful working of the Holy Spirit in our lives. The one who serves Christ in this way—depending on the work of the Spirit for all the help you need and renouncing all self-reliance—pleases God and manifests His Kingdom in the church and extends His Kingdom in the world.
So then, let us, as verse 19 says, “Let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.” Don’t flaunt our freedom. Love our brothers and sisters. And do it not in our own strength, but in the Holy Spirit. This is the Kingdom of God. This is His rule in our midst.

Anecdotal. In my area Amazon has gotten rid of many of its delivery drivers. Seeing Amazon on the roads is much less common now though they are still out there. Instead Amazon has hired on many flex driver delivery people using their own privately owned vehicles to deliver product to the door.
I come in contact with these people more often than regular drivers because of the unique factors affecting access to my community. A gate. Which Amazon drivers seem to have no problem getting through but the flex drivers never seem to be able to get through by failure to be persistent in punching in the code. I myself often have to punch the code in several times to get it to work. Anyway as a result I’ve had to go out to the gate after getting a phone call to retrieve my packages. Thus I meet the drivers.
Some of the flex drivers are fine. One pair though I’m a bit concerned with. Normally flex drivers work alone, but I have these two middle age guys of fighting age that are not American that drive together in a beat up old car. They don’t seem stupid, they just can’t get in my gate though. If I was going to lead an op into such an environment as mine I’d like to get to know the lay of the land. This is what I suspect. Perhaps a bit paranoid but this is what I suspect. That they are learning the lay of the land.
Only in Ukraine are military aged guys the same as middle aged guys.

In the real world green card takes 8-9 months from application and citizenship takes 7 years before one apply. One needs to speak read English and some writing and know the history. How are they bypassing that? How come citizens know not English?
They also should take driver license test in English so they truly understand our laws when driving.
We also need our schools as ENGLISH ONLY. Kindergarten used to be about allowing immigrant children to learn English and allowing kids to get used to being away from home.
My husband learn end English playing with other kids. Once in school they took him into a speech class to get rid of the German accent. He stayed in speech class though University. Kind of funny but they made sure that the kids were totally integrated.
My Father’s Mom spoke only German at home. She wanted her children to learn English from AMERICANS and not from her.
Dad knew 5 languages, German, English, Hebrew, Latin and Greek.

This one’s 101 years old, Harold Lloyd in Safety Last!

Harold Lloyd was another great physical comedian. It’s remarkable that he lost the thumb and forefinger of his right hand in an accident in 1919, so those stunts in Safety Last were done with a prosthetic glove fitted on his right hand, and he only had three fingers to grip with on that hand. He wore the prosthesis in all his movies after the accident.
Earlier that month, Pathe had been testing some potent bombs for a thrill sequence in a non-Lloyd film. The bombs were tested in a park, and when one proved too potent (shattering a heavy oak table), it was determined that they would be too dangerous for on-screen use, and were discarded.
At Witzel’s, along with Lloyd and some of his gagmen, was a box of props, to be used in some of the shots. Among these props were some papier mache bombs, very similar in appearance to the potent real bombs tested by Pathe earlier in the month. Somehow (and a definitive explanation has never been arrived at), one real bomb got mixed in with the fakes — most likely due to their close resemblance. One of the poses called for Lloyd, then 26, to light a cigarette from one of these phoney bombs, in a pose which was to characterize his on-screen persona: devil-may-care, never intimidated by the obstacles that life presented to him. In a twist of fate, the only real bomb in the batch was the one handed to him…
Once handed the bomb, Lloyd placed the already-lit cigarette to the wick of the thought-fake bomb. The excessive smoke, strange for a papier-mache, made Lloyd realize that the picture would suffer. He figured that they’d try again, with another bomb — as he reached to place the bomb on the table, it blew.
The force of the blast tore a hole in the sixteen-foot ceiling of the studio. [Lloyd’s gag man Frank] Terry’s upper dental plate was cracked in half in his mouth. The photographer fainted. Lloyd, still in his mark, didn’t register what happened until moments later, when the pain just started to set in. He described his face as “raw meat.” He couldn’t see out of either eye after the blast. However, more painful was the permanent reminder of this fateful day: the thumb and forefinger of his right hand were severed.
Lloyd was rushed to the Methodist Hospital, which would be his home for the next 16 days. His eyesight eventually returned, but for a while the doctors feared for his right eye. Physicians also worried that gangrene might set in on his face, and the gashes in his lips produced cracks that were very painful. Lloyd noted that “the pain was considerable, but trivial compared with my mental state.” He had good reason to be worried.
At the time of the blast, Lloyd’s reputation as an up-and-comer in film comedy was solidified, and his most important work was in front of him. He felt certain that his career was over, and sat in his bed frantically figuring what he was going to be able to do now: 26 years old, and, supposedly, out of work. He had, though, a basic optimism that transcended his character’s enthusiasm, and he realized that he did have a future in producing, or writing, or directing, either in film or in theatre. He was not about to give up — in that way he and his on-screen persona were most similar…
Hal Roach and Sam Goldwyn (who started out life as Sam Goldfish, glove salesman), teamed to inspire a revolutionary prosthetic device, which might hold the key to Harold’s returning to the screen. The prosthesis, still pretty remarkable by today’s standards, called for a rubber mold to be taken of Lloyd’s left hand. The mold was reversed to simulate the incomplete right hand. The area that was missing was cut, and fitted into a thin leather glove, and when Lloyd’s right hand was inserted into the glove, it looked complete. The index and middle fingers of the glove were stitched together, meaning that movement of the flexible rubber index finger was possible, whenever the middle finger moved. The thumb remained immobile, and logically so. The leather glove was held on, tightly, by a rubber band garter system, which fastened to Lloyd’s upper arm. When covered in makeup, the prosthesis was hard to detect, which was exactly the way Lloyd wanted it…
Harold was a natural righty — the loss of two fingers from that hand necessitated an increased mobility with his left hand. He gained that, and became essentially ambidextrous, through intensive handball training…

In the Safety Last video sequence after the 5-minute mark you can see that his right thumb doesn’t move, but it’s not noticeable unless you’re looking for it. I’ve watched for it in other movies of his too.

It is the darn salt. My blood pressure heads for the roof.
Instead I take the least salty sausage and cut it 50/50 with hamburger. I add KCL to counter the NaCl, add mushrooms, onions peppers and then freeze in heaping tablespoon packets.
When I want an omelet, I use a packet plus shredded cheese.
It can also be mixed 50/50 with cream cheese to make stuffed mushrooms.
Cream cheese, ricotta, sour cream and fake, Wally Mart Swiss are all fairly low in sodium.

Although I concur with most of the above, I do have to lodge an exception or two regarding corporations.
In the course of the growth of an organization, it can go through several legal forms while retaining its essential character. A sole proprietor may hang out his shingle; he may retain staff; he may designate subordinate levels of management; he may enter into a partnership.
With partnerships, there may be general partnership interests, limited partnership interests, and managing partners. Up until recently, law firms and accounting firms had to be partnerships and not corporations.
Back in the day, partnerships could be secret. You could be wronged by “ABC Farming” and try to sue them, only to find out they were owned by the partnership of Smith and Jones. If you went to sue Smith and Jones, you had to find out where they were and serve papers on a partner, which often was difficult (especially when the the partners of “Smith and Jones” were actually Kobachek and d’Orvilles and might be overseas).
A corporation is a creation of government, and like many such have an implicit trade-off. Corporations in every jurisdiction I know have to file a form designating an agent for service of process — you needn’t be a genealogist and legal researcher to track someone down.
Many of the sins laid to “being a corporation” are actually sins of being a large enterprise. A partnership may collude with government and execute “regulatory capture”. An individual can bribe a legislator — the guy most associated with gold bar Menendez is Salomon Melgen, an opthalmologist.
That said, one of the things that corporations exist to do is kill people. Back in the early part of the 1900’s, any major construction project could be expected to lose a worker for every $1,000,000 spent. In a partnership, the worker’s heirs might assert that a partner was guilty of murder….in a corporation, not so much. That’s why corporations were used to construct Hoover Dam, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Transcontinental Railroad, the Empire State Building, and anything else of scale.
Of course, this means corporations must be regulated, which leads to its own possibilities for abuse. Were it up to a regulatory bureaucracy, any poor sap digging a hole would have three inspectors signing off on each shovelful — each being more credentialed and higher-paid than the original laborer. These abuses are studied in a comparatively recent branch of economics known as public choice theory [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_choice ].
Overall, I agree with many of your citations of abusive behavior. And I also agree that many of the worst behaviors are currently performed by corporations. Where I disagree is that I don’t find these behaviors to be caused by the perpetrators being corporations. Corporations are just another way of organizing businesses.

I have moxidectin but putting it on my hands for X hours is not a good way of getting the correct dose.
Chiefio has infos on that… he’s been “drenching” since 2020 (or maybe even 2019)..
He says Ivermectin Drench no brand.
Amazon has both sheep and cattle drench but you’d have to read the label I guess to make sure your getting just basic. Then you’d have to formulate for human vs animal weight for which we had charts…personally the horse paste is good enough. One tube should get one through a sickness assuming initial dose, second dose and latter last dose with likely some left over. At two hundred pounds, it was a little less than about a third of the tube (size in pic above) per dose, though you may have some left over depending on weight.
Going off memory, dosing was the initial dose, then next day another same dose, then a week later a third dose and done.
They say it is safe to take too much. I inadvertently did that when I was getting it ready for a dose to experiment with and the wife called me for dinner. I end up injecting about twice the amount out of the tube that I wanted and since I’m a stickler for not wanting things to go to waste I took it all with no ill effects whatsoever.
Wouldn’t use it as a preventive. Too expensive. Break glass emergency use only understanding emergency could be just suspect.
I went to that first site (Ivermectin.com) and they have the link for US only vs the link for international customers. Appears they are still taking US money if you use that US link. 190 dollars for 100 tablets and 120 dollars for 50 tablets I didn’t follow it all the way through though. I remember they have this weird click thing where you order twice but get billed once. It actually works that way… but it feels like you might get billed twice for ordering twice, yet ya don’t.
They have also expanded their offerings and now have HCQ, Z pack and Fenbendazole (100 50mg tablets for 150 which seemed like a good price). Something else too I don’t recognize.
Actually I stick with green tea ECGC since I drink several cups a day. I just want the Ivermectin for ‘in case’
I and Hubby ended up using moxidectin & latex gloves when we came down with covid a few weeks ago and found the Ivermectin stolen.

The thing to be most careful of with veterinary ivermectin is the other ingredients. There’s like “horse dewormer”, with ivermectin, some goop, and apple flavoring….and “horse dewormer plus” with ivermectin, goop, apple flavoring, and some other horse medication that is decidedly double-plus-ungood for humans. Do not use stuff with extra ingredients.
Back in the day, I was a fan of durvet ivermectin 1% sterile solution injection for cattle and swine (NOT INJECTED). It had, IIRC, three ingredients — one of which was ivermectin and another was GRAS. The third ingredient shouldn’t be a problem in the relevant amounts (a couple of cc’s, taken by mouth).
Besides the uncertainty with timed transdermal medication, there is also the missing catalyst action of goat spit.
Only like this with these two ingredients listed on the box. Anything that says “plus or gold” you don’t want. Besides Durvet there are 1 or 2 others selling it, but they are slightly more expensive.

We lost our guard donkey this fall. She had lost her grinding teeth but refused to eat ‘glop’ like our toothless ponies do no matter what I did. 😪
Anyway I was trying to find another donkey or guard animal since we had lost 2 goats to coyotes. One of our neighbors adopted a Great Pyrenees but he has no goat or sheep. The Dog had guarded a herd but the former owner had sold the sheep and gave away the dog. She has now added our farm to her daily patrol schedule.
Last night she was camped out by the goat pen barking at something at 1:00 PM.
She is a real sweetie and comes up to be petted. So we now have a ‘dog’ but we do not have to worry about her care or what happens to her if we can no longer keep the farm.
She is now guarding the neighborhood’s horses, ponies, chickens, and sheep. A jack is guarding the cows. So we are all good. 🤗

Vivek is not a Trump supporter. I found his quotes in this article infuriating. He is making himself out to be like the founding fathers, “the new fresh blood,” and indicates that Trump probably won’t get over the finish line. That is not what a Trump supporter says, and neither is it MAGA. 😡
He is saying many of the right things to position himself as the successor of Trump. He’s fooling people. It is merely raw political ambition. And he isn’t even eligible to be POTUS! He isn’t a natural born citizen. So much for upholding the Constitution, or abiding by our founders’ intent.
So he puts down Trump, Trump responds, and Vivek calls that “friendly fire,” blaming Trump, when Vivek is the one who started it. He is a slippery snake. His laundry list of the ways he has supported Trump illustrates his intention all along of pretending to be supportive so he can worm his way in to replace him. Someone who truly supported Trump (and, I believe, MAGA) would not have positioned himself to run against him.

Top House Republicans plan to press federal agencies to punish workers who participate in a planned walk out next week in protest of the Biden administration’s support for Israel.

Driving the news: Federal workers across nearly two dozen agencies including the White House, the Pentagon and the State Department plan to walk off the job on Tuesday, according to the Middle East-focused news site Al-Monitor.
The protest, led by a group of dozens of federal employees calling itself Feds United For Peace, is reportedly to observe a “Day of Mourning” on the 100th day since Israel began military operations in Gaza last October.
Hundreds of Biden administration employees are expected to participate in the demonstration, the outlet reported.
What they’re saying: “Any government worker who walks off the job to protest U.S. support for our ally Israel is ignoring their responsibility and abusing the trust of taxpayers,” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said in a statement.
Johnson said he and House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) will “be working together to ensure that each federal agency initiates appropriate disciplinary proceedings” against anyone who participates in Tuesday’s demonstration.

Between the lines: The conservative magazine National Review made the case that the protest violates federal law, pointing to a statute punishing any federal employee who “participates in a strike … against the Government of the United States” with a fine or up to a year in prison.
The outlet noted that a strike, as defined by Cornell Law School, is “an organized and intentional stoppage or slowdown of work by employees, intending to make the employer comply with the demands of the employees.”

In the Devolution Power Hour #213 @ 14:30 they are discussing the Tuesday appeal hearing in the DC trump case where Trump is claiming presidential immunity.
While listening to them it occurs to me that the Supreme Court may narrow the immunity to ONLY the time the President is in office. This would leave Clinton, Bush, Biden & Obama legally vulnerable for acts committed outside the years they were office. Up until now it seems once you were President you were home free.
