Salty Ginger-Ade
Ingredients
- 1 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
- 1 Medjool date, pitted
- 1 pinch fine sea salt
- 1 pinch ground cumin
- 6 ounces ginger beer
- Garnish: mint sprig
Steps
- Add the lime juice, date, salt and cumin to a shaker. Let sit for 5 minutes, then muddle until the date is pulverized.
- Add ice and shake until well-chilled, then pour unstrained into a tall glass.
- Top with ginger beer and stir well to combine.
- Garnish with a mint sprig.

Years ago, I lived in Santa Barbara. There was this little “Santa Claus Lane” tourist strip down by Carpinteria, with a sign that advertised “World Famous Date Shakes”. You couldn’t help but notice it from the highway every time you went south of SB.
I had a coworker who confessed that she had stopped off one time and tried one. Curious, I asked her how it was. Her response was to make a face and say, “terrible, just terrible.”
I’m intrigued by tonight’s cocktail, because it’s the only thing I’ve seen since with pureed dates.

I lost mine in a post on a sports site just this AM. Being a TN Vol sports fan, to see the Bama meltdown over Saban retiring and losing players to the transfer portal has been glorious! After our decade of football Hades that saw incompetent coaching/turnover, the problems with the NCAA along with dozens of players transferring out; Bammers and their ESPN lapdog buddies celebrated our demise. Saban even took one of our better players. Now that our program has been restored; they are whining and complaining about the same trash talking they loved dishing out for years that they are now receiving as their players leave in droves to play for other schools.

The dumbing down of Americans in public schools and within their own homes over the past 100 years in particular has led to complete ignorance of the Constitution and law. That made it easy to pack the SC with justices who made their own law without having the actually authority to do so.
I just do not believe any of the nasty decisions are “mistakes” as I believe they can be demonstrated as steps in the execution of a greater plan to enslave Americans while enriching their slavemasters.

Several years ago a poll in Vermont showed a large majority supported the GREEN NEW DEAL. The poll was showcased by Bernie of course.
My suggestion was Vermont be the Pilot for a carbon free society. ALL roads in and out of the state would be blockaded to prevent the transport of CO2 producing fuel into the state. ONLY GREEN energy would be allowed. Solar, Wind and I will be nice Hydro. (NO WOOD STOVES OF COURSE) Once all the power plants were ready to go, the blockades would go into place. After two years the results of the experiment would be judged.

You may not be paying attention to the NFL playoff scenario, but in Michigan it’s a BIG DEAL, especially now that the Detroit Lions have won their first playoff in 30 years! This Sunday they will be hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers & if we manage another win & other games go our way we have the Possibility of hosting the NFC Championship game too…Hopes are very high & I cannot articulate how Significant this is in the Motor City!!!
After Sunday’s victory my husband encouraged me to put on Sports Talk Radio, 97.1 “The Ticket” to listen to the fans & hosts expound on the Lions. Multiple times grown men were crying & discussing other men crying. One black man called in chocked up about the feature of an 89 year old white man season ticket holder since the 1950’s & what it meant to see that man experience a Detroit Lion’s playoff win, we chocked up when his story & face was shown during the game too.
Eminem featured in the lead up to the game & I thought he did a very nice job there. Some look at him as a hometown hero but he’s one of many artists who call Detroit home.

I used A word, chocked, so no indicators it was wrong. I kept thinking of chock blocks to keep a plane or truck from shifting. Hubby mentioned that they had chock blocks on his truck when it was in the loading dock warehouse for his company the other day & after the snow & very cold temps he had a rough time getting them out of the way, they were iced in.

I do not trust the parking brake esp in an older vehicle when hitched to a trailer.
Also if my truck rolls back a bit in ‘park’ it is a royal pain to get it out of park again.
I remember from driving class about parking on inclines & cocking the tires to use the curb to stop rolling in the event park &/or the parking break doesn’t hold…I almost never use a parking brake myself.
I don’t really like rap, either, but your kids are correct; Eminem IS a genius with lyrics.
He can make things rhyme that seem impossible, and the flow of the words and music never falter as he does it. It really is remarkable.

The guy on the far left playing the lap slide guitar is apparently Kasey’s father or husband (not sure which).
The song was played as the encore at the show, and the audio for the show was recorded by the band, but no video. When they played it back later, they thought it was a pretty good performance, so they appealed to their fans to send in any video of the performance that was recorded on cell phones. They used the concert footage sent in by their fans to make the video.
The funniest comment I read was someone observing that nobody comments about how the keyboard player, with the big hair and doing the full body head-banger moves toward the last quarter of the song, was really rockin’ out, living his best life 👍😂

Senate Bill 24-012 is yet another proposal from the upside-down world of “justice reform,” in which criminals are recast as victims. The bill’s premise is that paying those exiting prison life for their “basic life expenses” will help them readjust to life on the outside. It is supposed to lower their chances of returning to prison.
Even if the approach worked, it would be an affront to law-abiding Coloradans.
The legislation requires recipients of the cash payments to be enrolled in a job-training program — itself, a worthy goal. Maybe career prep should be the bill’s focus, in fact. Many ex-cons are ill-prepared for the job market.
But to hand cold hard cash to ex-cons — many with an extensive history of substance addiction — sends them a convoluted message and practically invites them back down the path that led them to prison in the first place.
Cash payments totaling $3,000 — not vouchers, not even a requirement for receipts — cross a line. The money tempts recipients with all the usual bad choices and rewards them for their time behind bars — as if society owed them a debt rather than the other way around.
It amounts to subsidizing convicts for having led lives of crime.

That seems to be standard procedure. I learned after many trips to the hospital with my friend, that a book/hand sewing, extra WARM clothes and snacks were a good Idea. I carried a groc tote instead of a purse.

Hope it’s not a big issue for you. Here it means keeping parked cars off the roads so they can plow & keeping travel to a minimum. Our city hasn’t been great about clearing roads, at least side streets, for a few years now, likely because of budget issues, though we live on a school bus route so we probably get plowed as a priority…
If we shovel down to where some pavement shows the sun helps melt off the residue, even in the single digit temps!
When I was a kid my dad would make us shovel the turn arounds on their boulevard street on either end of our block. I never saw Anyone but our family doing this 🙃 The city often plowed the sidewalks before the county plowed their pretty busy road LOL. Dad would often clean a channel for meltwater to reach the storm sewer & I’ve found myself doing that to avoid a frozen puddle at the driveway, but that’s a pretty major task when few neighbors try to get the curbside ice build up removed…
My mom said my dad was shoveling for 7 hours after the snow last week but wouldn’t have wanted any of our help because we don’t shovel the way he wants it done 🙄
Our dog & I have enjoyed shoveling a couple times recently, probably will do more today before I head out for some errands. I actually ended up chatting w/ 3 different neighbors yesterday so it’s good for the body AND the soul 😇

Now I rarely visit Bannon’s site. Most of my wanderings are suggested by the authors here. I will say that of all the professional patriots I would say that Tucker Carlson’s site is the only one I visit on almost a daily basis. My conclusion concerning professional patriots is that despite all their styles and warts these folks provide a service that I find useful. It is exceptional and rare in my experience that there is a haven like Qtree. I am thankful and just in case I am not being clear that is meant for Wolf and all the authors that inform my view of the world.

Alec Baldwin is headed to trial over the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who was killed in 2021 after the actor’s prop gun fired a live round of ammunition on the “Rust” film set.
The decision to indict Baldwin was announced Friday after a New Mexico grand jury heard evidence presented by special prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis. He was charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter.

Involuntary manslaughter is a slam dunk. They don’t have to prove intent; they only have to prove there was a rule/protocol to never point a firearm at a person. Some might say he was merely reckless but that would only fly if he was talking to someone and the firearm was inadvertently pointed at someone else when it discharged.
By pointing the gun at someone [“I was rehearsing the next scene”] as a deliberate act, it is manslaughter at the very least. If it can be shown that blanks were scripted to be fired [for effect], his ‘rehearsal’ could get him nailed with voluntary manslaughter.
Somebody needs to be charged over the presence of live ammo on the set. That is an industry no-no everywhere in motion picture production.

He’s owned the space since 2017. Additionally, records also reveal that Fani Willis also funneled $126,070 to another attorney named Christopher Campbell, who just happens to be Nathan Wade’s law partner.
