Dear KMAG: 20240212 Joe Biden Didn’t Win ❀ Open Topic

Joe Biden didn’t win. This is our Real President:

AND our beautiful REALFLOTUS.

This Stormwatch Monday Open Thread remains open – VERY OPEN – a place for everybody to post whatever they feel they would like to tell the White Hats, and the rest of the MAGA/KAG/KMAG world (with KMAG being a bit of both).

And yes, it’s Monday…again.

But we WILL get through it!

We will always remember Wheatie,

Pray for Trump,

Yet have fun,

and HOLD ON when things get crazy!

We will follow the RULES of civility that Wheatie left for us:

Wheatie’s Rules:

  1. No food fights.
  2. No running with scissors.
  3. If you bring snacks, bring enough for everyone.

And while we engage in vigorous free speech, we will remember Wheatie’s advice on civility, non-violence, and site unity:

“We’re on the same side here so let’s not engage in friendly fire.”

“Let’s not give the odious Internet Censors a reason to shut down this precious haven that Wolf has created for us.”

If this site gets shut down, please remember various ways to get back in touch with the rest of the gang:

Our beloved country is under Occupation by hostile forces.

Daily outrage and epic phuckery abound.

We can give in to despair…or we can be defiant and fight back in any way that we can.

Joe Biden didn’t win.

And we will keep saying Joe Biden didn’t win until we get His Fraudulency out of our White House.

Wolfie’s Wheatie’s Word of the Week Year:

espace réservé

noun

  1. French for placeholder
  2. French for reserved area
  3. French for restricted area
  4. Wolf’s preparation for a year of taking care of things

As I will explain below, I’m going to need placeholders for many weeks this year. The first placeholder post (February 5, 2024) will be copied to the other weeks, and modified whenever time allows.

The whole “placeholder” endeavor just sounds so much less offensive in French!

MUSIC!

Relaxing hymns on a harp. Ahhhhhhh.

THE STUFF

An Update…..

So far, things are going better than expected. I appreciate your prayers and support. I have made it past several hurdles, but also had a close call, from which much was learned. I’m actually in a better and safer place now, because of it.

Because I have sworn off a variety of responsibilities, including (here) “big fresh Monday dailies”, I have been able to spend hours every day in medical self-education, to learn what was needed to make significant headway against one of my medical issues. Many other issues are impacted by this one, so it was critical. The strategy paid off, and I have begun to move one huge rock out of my path.

My issues appear to be at the edge of science, which is both fascinating and a bit scary. We live in a very interesting time, when medicine is both “under construction” and obviously falling apart. I am trying to stay ahead of the collapse. So far, the magic of surfing is working.

I am trying to stay connected to all my major activities (art worlds, local politics, this site, neighbors, friends, exercise, home upkeep, financial stewardship & taxes, and most of all supporting my wife in her activities), but I’ve had to ditch major responsibilities in many of them.

Health comes first now.

I was very interested by what I learned from TradeBait’s post, and all your comments there. It’s nice to see things working, and I’m learning a lot.

I got onto Gab AI and made the image on the cover, using their “Watercolor” Image AI. I am trying to test their evolving AI capabilities. Gotta keep as many “tiny irons” in the fire as possible. I am planning to GET BETTER, and I don’t want to lose my place in things.

We’ll see how things go this week. As I said, your prayers are appreciated, and they’re working! THANK YOU!!!

Just sayin’!

And remember…….

Until victory, have faith!

And trust the big plan, too!

And as always….

ENJOY THE SHOW

W

I’m happy to see the Wolf drop in now and again, because laughter is frequently the best medicine….and ’tis a merry crowd.

Happy we can up lift your spirits Wolfie.

Wolf, so glad to see you around the Tree a bit & relieved that you are making headway in the health arena. Please keep us posted with what developments you are comfortable in sharing so that we may pray more effectively for you. God Bless!

Branco doesn’t speak Spanish very well. It should read, mi casa es tu casa.

cthulhu

Or “nuestra casa es tu casa”.

pgroup2

Too many syllables for the low IQ crowd.

kalbokalbs

Here. Here.

smiley2

it’s Minnesota

su casa = your house

cthulhu

mi casa = my house
tu casa = your house (familiar, singular)
su casa = your house (formal, singular) or his/her house
nuestra casa = our house

Just as a side point, whenever you’re swearing at someone in Spanish, you use the familiar “tu” instead of the formal “usted”. Thus, “chingate tu madre”.

smiley2

you missed the point.
what’s the likely nationality of the 2 ppl looking out the window there, in the multiculturally diverse Minnesota house.

cthulhu

Well, they’re horrified taxpayers….so I presume they’re American.

Charlie

Thus, “chingate tu madre”.
LOL – wanna translate that? Hahahaha…

cthulhu

As an accountant, I did some work at an industrial plant. The owner/manager told me that it took him years before he learned that “tu madre” didn’t mean “boss”.

Valerie Curren

your momma? yo mammy? 😉 😉

cthulhu

It is sort of like “yo’ mama”, and is often the most audible part of a longer dissertation.

Valerie Curren

Back when I worked at the church my daughter would leave me notes to M.O.M. (My Old Madre)–always made me smile 😍

pgroup2

Too complicated logic. And this has caused too much chatter anyway so I’m done with it. 🙃

Yikes! that’s one way of dealing with turbo cancers. Never mind the option of not causing them to begin with. Which is rather less upsetting to everyone.

Can it be more obvious, this is on the same level as the car with the defective exhaust approaching with the high beams on.

I got nitter.net to work on legacy Firefox version 72.0.2, running on win10.

  1. go to the url on nitter
  2. it will give you the scary place notice
  3. click on advanced
  4. this should give you a page that gives the choice of I understand the risk – go anyway
  5. that will connect you to the original url

It is so stupid that Chrome doesn’t do this.

eilert

For me the old ‘https://nitter’ link does not work at all anymore.
Only this link ‘https://nitter.1d4.us’ works. From there I could go to the twitter account like:’https://nitter.1d4.us/catturd2′.

However now when I use this link or any other account it will default to the root ‘https://nitter.1d4.us’ and display some video ad.

Valerie Curren

I tried the clicking on Advanced in Brave but still no access for me 🙁

thx, I didn’t know that as I’m no techie…obviously 🙂

TheseTruths

At this point, they are fighting for his legacy (I know, I know 🙃). Until now, they’ve had the media to cover for JB’s horrible record. But if the media and the DNC turn on them and JB is prevented from running or is removed from office, that will be a huge black mark. They will see who their real friends are, and I bet those numbers are dwindling every day. Real friends would have prevented his running in 2020 because he wasn’t capable then, and dementia only gets worse. But for the fiends on the Left, it’s “anything to stop Trump,” no matter whom you have to sacrifice.

mollypitcher5

We’ve always known that the evil empire will eventually consume everybody but themselves if left unchecked. The Bidens thought they would be protected. One day you’re in and the next you can be put out with the trash.

Gail Combs

Joe Lange Wrote a very good series on the CIA. In one article he says:

…The Medellin cartel accountant was also laundering money through banks in Curaçao, Switzerland, Hong Kong and the Bahamas. That’s a huge data point that we’ll come back to.

Noriega was a CIA asset and was feeding the Medellin cartel info on DEA agents and Coast Guard and US Navy surveillance information. He was getting this information from the CIA, who were trying to protect their drug trafficking operation.

:wpds_arrow: Here’s where we see something very important. We see the difference between those involved in the shadow government who are ‘untouchable’ and those who are ‘expendable’.

👉Untouchable vs Expendable.

This Congressional testimony was the beginning of the end for Noriega. There was no way for Bush to rehabilitate Noriega’s image with the American people. He was now a liability and a danger to exposing everything, so the shadow government would deploy a new strategy. They would come up with a new narrative.

What was it?

Noriega would be painted as the face of narco drug trafficking in South and Central America, and Bush would be painted as the presidential hero fighting drug traffickers.

👉Noriega became expendable.

He would be indicted by the Bush administration and Panama would be invaded by our military in order to arrest him. It was a huge news story. Noriega’s capture and extradition became a major narrative deployment that would shield Bush and the CIA from accusations of trafficking drugs. Bush was now seen as waging war on drug traffickers….

Unless you are in the very top tier you are NOT guaranteed protection PERIOD!

mollypitcher5

The psychological tricks they employ coupled with their international violent king maker/king breaker power is a blight on the USA. They’ve been proven to be ruthless criminals instead of the white hats people assumed them to be. FIB , the same.

Somethings are in genes we can maybe change some through diet or meds. My MD is inherited my grandmother had it. Mine is not to bad and i see perfectly even though they discovered it almost 20 years ago.
I do not know to much but strongly believe we can change some inherited problems or other through died, organic foods and clean eating. Sadly some of us do not realize it until later in life.

Yup. Kennedy’s efforts are revealing the poisonous vaccines. Marketed by Big Pharma and PUSHED by CDC. RICO?

When Trump wins, we need Kennedy in a key position to start undoing Big Pharma AND seriously downsize CDC to something useful.

Gail Combs

I certainly hope Trump puts Kennedy in a very good position to go after these Fother Muckers. Perhaps an DOJ attorney who is later made a special council?

pgroup2

Which Kennedy are you talking about? RFK jr? I doubt he could get confirmed no matter which party controls the Senate.

pgroup2

FYI, a RICO action must affect the victim’s business interests. It is NOT a fancy dressing up of a run of the mill criminal conspiracy. It certainly is not a tort action akin to negligence.

But if those bad guys you named together decided to hurt a smaller rival or squeeze it out of business [anti-trust], that is a criminal RICO if there is violence or the threat of violence as a coercive technique.

Gail Combs

Yes, but there is NO STATUE OF LIMITATION ON MURDER.

A shooting was reported at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood megachurch in Houston on Sunday.

The female shooter wore a trench coat as she walked into the church with a rifle and claimed she had a bomb before she began shooting.

According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the shooter, a 35-year-old female who was accompanied by a child, is deceased.

The 5-year-old child is in critical condition. The other victim, a 57-year-old man, was shot in the leg.

Mass Psychosis
February 12, 2024 12:54 am

Fani Willis caught laundering money into her campaign. I filed an ethics complaint with the State of Georgia yesterday. Interview by Emerald Robinson in the link. Final numbers: $23,459.54 into Willis’ campaign by contributors who gave no name or address: blanks. Secondly, I found $44,295,80 over the limit of $3,000 per person (note: includes gross total of these, GA ethics might only include the over $3,000 amounts).
And the big one: smurfing by Fani Willis abusing our elderly senior citizens by using their names and addresses without their knowledge – $184,916.45. Smurfing is campaign money laundering, structuring large sums into smaller sums over time. Using the names and addresses of citizens without their knowledge, let alone permission. Willis committed money laundering, identity theft, and elderly financial abuse. The unaware Smurfs are all over the age of 65. Willis’s campaign conspired to do all with the likes of Actblue. I know the bank(s), I have receipts. These findings and numbers are based on her reports to the State of Georgia, the GA’s campaign database and the FEC database. Over two campaign cycles. I call for an immediate investigation of Willis’ campaign.

We have a government so the 6,000 members of the Global Elite (aka The Cabal) can siphon off wealth, control resources, STEAL land, not only here but thru out the world and use Americans as Cannon Fodder in their Forever Wars to bully other nations who might try to rise up in opposition to this world wide reign of terror.

Valerie Curren

Epic, in a nutshell, analysis!

Tonawanda

Reading Wolf’s post, I began terribly missing wheatietoo.

Tradebait’s post was very informative.

A while back I realized I needed to be in good shape for whatever is going to happen this year.

So far, 40 minute brisk walk six times a week. No sugar, low carbs, every day. My wife makes the most delicious cabbage soup, and she is now making a very delicious spinach soup. Otherwise, various vegetables, etc.

Taking my blood sugar every day has been a wonderful stimulant. It was high, and it is now gradually getting better. My consciousness about the many perils of high blood sugar has been raised, and the focus on blood sugar underlies every thing else I am doing about my health. Wow, seeing the lowered scores first thing in the morning is a huge incentive. (It’s been over seven weeks).

My health circumstances are probably like many millions of Americans, and not esoteric like Wolf’s. God bless Wolf. And prayers for all Q-Tree.

I see my determination to get healthy as an essential part of my determination to fight the evil which has overtaken our country and the western world.

Sugar esp High fructose Corn Syrup is an insidious poison. I have read it is even more addictive than Cocaine.

Doctor says sugar is eight times more addictive than cocaine (Rat study)

More Addictive Than Cocaine: The Shocking Research on Sugar Addiction
8-times more addictive than cocaine to be exact

Sugar, conversely, does have withdrawal symptoms if you quit cold turkey… And like addicts, the pigs needed more sugar as the study progressed. This study and several others have enabled some researchers to postulate that sugar is more addictive than cocaine

Studies determine sugar, saccharin more addictive than cocaine — Natural News

…A compilation of scientific evaluations looking at both sugar and synthetic sweeteners reveals that these omnipresent substances often trigger the same or stronger responses in the brain as illegal drugs, and are sometimes much harder to break in terms of habitual consumption.

A paper published in the journal PLOS ONE back in 2007, for instance, explains how rats given the option to choose between drinking water sweetened with saccharin (Sweet’n Low) or intravenous cocaine almost always chose the water. A shocking 94 percent of rats, according to the researchers, actually preferred the high that they got from saccharin as opposed to the cocaine rush.

The same study found that sucrose, or common table sugar, was also preferred by the rats over cocaine. Based on this observance, the research team noted that regardless of caloric content, the sheer intensity and pleasure of sweetness seems to be more addictive than even the sensitization and intoxication brought about by cocaine, which mainstream society still recognizes as being much more harmful than sugar….

Sugar addiction is biologically equivalent to drug addiction

But is it just that the taste of sweetness is enjoyable, or is there something more going on in the brain to indicate actual dependency and addiction? Nearly 40 years ago, William Dufty helped answer this question when he penned a book entitled Sugar Blues, which highlighted the addictive properties of sugar and how sweets are a major driver for declining public health.

Many of the ideas presented in this groundbreaking book have been affirmed and reaffirmed by science, which has repeatedly demonstrated that certain neuroendocrine pathways are activated in response to sugar. The infamous “sweet tooth” and frequent sugar cravings are indicative of how these pathways drive obsessive consumption and addiction….

It might be nice for them to compare high fructose corn syrup to cane sugar.

Gail Combs

DONE!

From Natural News:
High fructose corn syrup and cane sugar – Your body knows the difference

sugar is sugar, but it certainly is not HFCS, a highly processed sweetener that is linked to obesity and a host of other health problems. This, undoubtedly, is the reason for the marketing strategy of changing its name to corn sugar, an attempt to have consumers believe that all sugar is created equal….

HFCS is derived from highly processed corn, a starchy grain. It has near equal amounts of fructose and sucrose and is similar to table sugar from a compounding perspective. Unlike fruit, however, this type of fructose is not bound to fiber causing the body to process it faster and leaving the body unsatisfied. Starches and grains often have a higher glycemic index than all sugars, and corn falls within this category. In addition, almost all of the United States corn production is genetically modified, adding to health risks.

A Princeton University study showed rats gained significant more weight when consuming HFCS in comparison to table sugar, even when the caloric intake was the same. Most interesting is the rats accessibility to sucrose was equal to the sweetness of sugar and the HFCS was half as sweet as that found in soft drinks. The rats who consumed HFCS gained 48% more weight than their sucrose peers and had significant deposits of abdominal fat and circulating triglycerides. In humans, these are characteristics of obesity, heart disease, diabetes and cancer….

Gail Combs

MORE..

This Article is a KEEPER! It was very hard to cut it down.

Dr Hyman — 5 Reasons High Fructose Corn Syrup Will Kill You

….What the Science Says About HFCS

Let’s examine the science and insert some common sense into the conversation….

Last week over lunch with Dr. Bruce Ames, one of the foremost nutritional scientists in the world, and Dr. Jeffrey Bland, a nutritional biochemist, a student of Linus Pauling, and I reviewed the existing science, and Dr. Ames shared shocking new evidence from his research center on how HFCS can trigger body-wide inflammation and obesity.

Here are 5 reasons you should stay way from any product containing high fructose corn syrup and why it may kill you.

#1 Sugar in any form causes obesity and disease when consumed in pharmacologic doses.Cane sugar and high fructose corn syrup are indeed both harmful when consumed in pharmacologic doses of 140 pounds per person per year. When one 20 ounce HFCS sweetened soda, sports drink, or tea has 17 teaspoons of sugar (and the average teenager often consumes two drinks a day) we are conducting a largely uncontrolled experiment on the human species. Our hunter gatherer ancestors consumed the equivalent of 20 teaspoons per year, not per day. In this sense, I would agree with the corn industry that sugar is sugar. Quantity matters. But there are some important differences.

#1. HFCS and cane sugar are NOT biochemically identical or processed the same way by the body. High fructose corn syrup is an industrial food product and far from “natural” or a naturally occurring substance. It is extracted from corn stalks through a process so secret that Archer Daniels Midland and Carghill would not allow the investigative journalist Michael Pollan to observe it for his book The Omnivore’s Dilemma. The sugars are extracted through a chemical enzymatic process resulting in a chemically and biologically novel compound called HFCS. Some basic biochemistry will help you understand this. Regular cane sugar (sucrose) is made of two-sugar molecules bound tightly together– glucose and fructose in equal amounts. The enzymes in your digestive tract must break down the sucrose into glucose and fructose, which are then absorbed into the body.

HFCS also consists of glucose and fructose, not in a 50-50 ratio, but a 55-45 fructose to glucose ratio in an unbound form. Fructose is sweeter than glucose. And HFCS is cheaper than sugar because of the government farm bill corn subsidies. Products with HFCS are sweeter and cheaper than products made with cane sugar. This allowed for the average soda size to balloon from 8 ounces to 20 ounces with little financial costs to manufacturers but great human costs of increased obesity, diabetes, and chronic disease.

Now back to biochemistry. Since there is there is no chemical bond between them, no digestion is required so they are more rapidly absorbed into your blood stream. Fructose goes right to the liver and triggers lipogenesis (the production of fats like triglycerides and cholesterol) this is why it is the major cause of liver damage in this country and causes a condition called “fatty liver” which affects 70 million people.

The rapidly absorbed glucose triggers big spikes in insulin–our body’s major fat storage hormone. Both these features of HFCS lead to increased metabolic disturbances that drive increases in appetite, weight gain, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, dementia, and more.

But there was one more thing I learned during lunch with Dr. Bruce Ames. Research done by his group at the Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute found that free fructose from HFCS requires more energy to be absorbed by the gut and soaks up two phosphorous molecules from ATP (our body’s energy source). This depletes the energy fuel source, or ATP, in our gut required to maintain the integrity of our intestinal lining. Little “tight junctions” cement each intestinal cell together preventing food and bacteria from “leaking” across the intestinal membrane and triggering an immune reaction and body wide inflammation. [LEAKY GUT SYNDROME -GC]

#2 High doses of free fructose have been proven to literally punch holes in the intestinal lining allowing nasty byproducts of toxic gut bacteria and partially digested food proteins to enter your blood stream and trigger the inflammation that we know is at the root of obesity, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, dementia, and accelerated aging. Naturally occurring fructose in fruit is part of a complex of nutrients and fiber that doesn’t exhibit the same biological effects as the free high fructose doses found in “corn sugar”.

#3 HFCS contains contaminants including mercury that are not regulated or measured by the FDA. An FDA researcher asked corn producers to ship a barrel of high fructose corn syrup in order to test for contaminants. Her repeated requests were refused until she claimed she represented a newly created soft drink company. She was then promptly shipped a big vat of HFCS that was used as part of the study that showed that HFCS often contains toxic levels of mercury because of chlor-alkali products used in its manufacturing…..

#4. Independent medical and nutrition experts DO NOT support the use of HFCS in our diet, despite the assertions of the corn industry[IMPORTANT TO READ THIS PART Remember the CEO of ADM was the highest contributor to the Dems & Rinos for years -GC]

#5 HFCS is almost always a marker of poor-quality, nutrient-poor disease-creating industrial food products or “food-like substances”. The last reason to avoid products that contain HFCS is that they are a marker for poor-quality, nutritionally-depleted, processed industrial food full of empty calories and artificial ingredients. If you find “high fructose corn syrup” on the label you can be sure it is not a whole, real, fresh food full of fiber, vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, and antioxidants. Stay away if you want to stay healthy….

Do not forget TRUE Cinnamon!

Cinnamon Balances Blood Sugar and Lowers Cholesterol — Natural News.

…The only form of cinnamon that is truly useful for humans is powdered bark, in capsule form. The oil contains compounds that can be harmful. Doses of 1000mg daily have been shown to make a difference in both blood sugar and LDL. [ more commonly known as the “bad cholesterol.”]

And while we are at it, the other Natural News Article I pointed to had this:

Wheat, cow’s milk contain opioid components similar to heroin

Wheat and 👉processed milk are similarly addictive, according to GreenMedInfo, which documents how many processed foods made from these additives possess narcotic properties, acting in a similar way to heroin when consumed. Modern wheat actually contains psychoactive chemicals that bind to opioid receptors in the nervous system, literally acting as a drug inside the body.

Wheat contains a variety of opioid peptides known as gluten exorphins, while cow’s milk contains a variety of casomorphin peptides. Both of these component classes are highly addictive, and are part of the reason why foods made with them are often referred to as “comfort” foods.

“Fructose… is known to increase brain levels of endogenous morphine following ingestion, and may produce metabolic products in the brain very similar to those produced by morphine,” wrote Sayer Ji for GreenMedInfo about another highly addictive food additive prevalent in the American food supply.

Abstract

We have adapted the enzymatic method [Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications 176 (3) (1991) 1617] for the safe and rapid assay of L-carnitine (L-CA) in skeletal muscle using a microplate reader. The concentration of L-CA in fresh semitendinosus muscle from

so anyone actually watch the game yesterday?
I didn’t and am wondering what impression anyone had of the bud light commercial–the one that was supposed to make things right?
was it good or a flop?
whatever it was, it would have to top their 09-11 Clydesdales paying tribute.

Gail Combs

Bud should have just stuck with the Clydesdales instead of going with a tranny.

pat frederick

i read were they brought them BACK for this super bowl…so i was wondering
i loved the horses!!!
i never cared for the super bowl itself–but the commercials were always something special…till they all went woke. i blame Janet Jackson personally…she started it all with the nip slip (oh, excuse me–wardrobe malfunction. that’s the undocumented immigrant of entertainment mistakes.)

Valerie Curren

That game is practically the only show I deliberately don’t mute the commercials on as they used to be fun, not so much the last few years 🙁

Valerie Curren

I semi-watched with multiple distractions. There was a Clydesdales making a delivery to a bar & a Bud Lite w/ a strange dude as a genie granting various wishes, culminating in someone wishing Peyton Manning was there in the bar, wish granted, PM being featured in various BL ads previously. Not enough to erase the tranny torching of their brand in my mind, but I’m not a beer drinker nor their preferred demographic.

BTW sorry that KC won again. At least the coach & QB gave glory to God 🙂

Her daughter, Sally Q, (who has Friedrich’s Ataxia and other health problems) is now in the ICU in the hospital. There are serious things going on with Sally Q’s heart, her diabetes, and other issues. GA/FL said she herself hasn’t slept in two days.

Yours Truly will add that Sally Q’s father (retired healthcare professional and GA/FL’s ex-husband of many years) is also not in good shape — IIRC, he had a bad bout of COVID last fall (he was “vaccinated”), was himself in the hospital then in rehab, and I believe now lives in an apartment with assistance. I think he can no longer help take care of Sally Q. Our good GA/FL has been / is, coordinating care for both of them.

The Media Is Lying About Trump’s NATO Comments
https://pjmedia.com/matt-margolis/2024/02/11/the-media-is-lying-about-trumps-nato-comments-n4926349

para59r

Noticed having watched his South Carolina rally and seeing later blurbs in the news. These cads in the media and the sock puppets they run too are getting very brazen with their half truths, omissions and lies. As some actor guy once said in a popular movie “YOU (THEY) CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH!😆

Aubergine

Hi Wolf!

I replied to you on TB’s post about the cataracts thing. But I will add here that one thing people overlook with their eyes is proper sun-wear. Don’t wear cheap sunglasses, no matter what ZZ Top says! The bright sun is terrible for your eyes.

And eat a cup of dark berries, every single day.

Gail Combs

Also WEAR A HAT with at least a visor, preferably a broad brim all the way round.

Since I moved south I found the hat of more use than the polarized sunglasses although you should wear both.

“Polarized lenses block glare for improved clarity and contrast, while also offering 100% UVA and UVB protection to shield your eyes from the sun’s rays.”

Aubergine

Great advice!

kalbokalbs

Rarely go anywhere outside, without a hat AND sun glasses.

Any sort of outside work, brings out my broad brim hat AND sunglasses.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Unfortunately, sunglasses just make me blind.

I dreaded the day I’d run over a toddler pulling into a shaded parking spot.

Stopped wearing them.

Aubergine

Cool.

pgroup2

Don’t play around with glasses and all that. If you have cataracts and you’re over 65, most insurance will pay for the eye surgery to implant artificial lenses. The procedure also cures any astigmatism. It is the most common surgery in the US and it has virtually no side effects and rarely has any issues with the surgery itself.

My vision is now as good as it was when I was 25yo.

cthulhu

The thought of having the same vision I had when I was 25 is frightening. I wore coke-bottle glasses at that age and was working with 4+ diopters of astigmatism. I much prefer the post-LASIK vision I have enjoyed since I was 40.

kalbokalbs

Nealy posted a like scenario.

Do NOT miss my coke bottle glasses of my late teens and twenty’s. 🤓

Valerie Curren
Gail Combs

I LIKE my glasses! They protect my eyes.

I can think of three separate occasions where my glasses saved me from a severe eye injury/loss of an eye.

Aubergine

For sure. If you are at the point for surgery, get it.

Valerie Curren

My dad is going in for that procedure on one eye tomorrow morning. Hope it goes well, like it did for my mom some time back. They’re in their 80’s. Mom now just needs reading glasses, & cheaters work, but her distance vision is fine since surgery.

mollypitcher5

Confession. Haven’t watched NFL for a couple of years except the 49ers a couple of times at my daughter’s house. Win or lose 49ers were our team forever.
FFW to last night. BF had it on.
I don’t know if it’s because of my cynical nature or what but I sure see things differently than others do at times. I’d never seen this Kelce dude other than tweets brought here.

What a loudmouth douche he is ! He did very little in the game and he did knock the hell out of the coach. Then at the awards he’s up on the podium itching for it to be his turn. He barely impacted this particular game but he got up there doing the expected ..winners! yeah BABY we’re winners..yeah BABY.. Mahones was respectful and natural giving God glory.

And my Swift comment..they showed her in the box several times. This stuck in my craw…so fake..she’s sitting there with like chewing on her manicured pinkie nail …c’mon really. The classic signal that she’s nervous ?? it was the fakest thing ever!

Those 2 deserve each other.

Valerie Curren

 😂

49ers QB is a Christian too, I believe, & was a class act in his NFC championship win over the Lions, after being down significantly at the half. He glorified the Lord in the post-game coverage then too 🙂

mollypitcher5

It’s become noteworthy when anyone in public praises the Lord. The Chief’s owner also said something like that too.

Valerie Curren

Yes I noticed that too. There were also at least 3 commercials during the game that were very God-focused. 2 that I saw were Jesus gets us style stuff & the other featured Mark Wahlberg, iirc, & featured multiple people praying & referencing Lent & a website to learn more about the Lord–all bright spots amidst increasing cultural degradation swirling the “bowl” 😉

pat frederick

Brock Purdy–yes he is…first thing out of his mouth after they won the NFC…all glory and honor to God

Valerie Curren

Yes & that was an answer to my prayer that the Lord would be glorified in whoever won that game, as I also prayed for the Super Bowl, even though I Really wanted the Lions to win both of those games, if possible 🙂

pat frederick

me too Valerie! I wanted the Lions in it too

Valerie Curren

Maybe next year..missed it by that much!

https://www.christianpost.com/news/super-bowl-qb-brock-purdy-reads-this-bible-passage-every-day.html

During media availability this week ahead of Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy shared how he has leaned on Psalm 23 this season by reading the passage daily to “start off with some solitude.”

“The Lord is my shepherd. I have what I need. He lets me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters,” Purdy said, paraphrasing Psalm 23:1 during a Sports Spectrum interview posted to YouTube on Wednesday.

“For me, playing this game, playing this sport, there is a lot that goes into it. It’s easy to get wrapped up in wanting and feeling, wanting to be loved — obviously by your teammates and everybody, but like the world. For me, in that passage, its talking about I already have what I need from the Good shepherd in Jesus.”

The 24-year-old NFL athlete, who played college football for the Iowa State Cyclones and was selected by the 49ers with the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, said that he refers back to the psalm in moments when he needs it most.

“It’s what I start off with, actually, every single day. I just read off Psalm 23 to myself before I start, start off with some solitude, and then, I go about my day.”

In addition to reading the Bible, Purdy said he also prays before and while he plays.

“It’s not ‘God, can we win here? Can we do something great here?’ It’s more just to have that peace, that steadfastness in all the chaos. That’s really what it is,” he said.

Valerie Curren

Even after all these many months, the Democrats have finally admitted that we have a true-blue immigration crisis, and that it was not just a “manufactured crisis conjured up by the “evil” Trump Administration.

Well, how did we get into this mess in the first place? Many observers have concluded that our “broken” immigration policies came about in 1965 through the passage of the Hart-Celler Act, with the active participation of Ted Kennedy, as the chief spokesman of the Act.

At that time in 1965, Ted Kennedy, a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts, assured us that the change in our immigration laws would not be a problem or have an adverse effect on our country. Here’s a quote by Ted Kennedy in the lead up to the passage of the Hart-Celler Act…

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

Probably the only time this will be said in public.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/uncle-of-marine-killed-in-deadly-california-helicopter-crash-says-nephew-died-because-of-stupid-mistake/ar-BB1i9YBH?ocid=msedg

The uncle of one of the five Marines killed in last week’s deadly California helicopter crash spoke out after the tragedy, arguing the aircraft never should have taken off during the rare winter storm.

Uncle of Captain Benjamin Moulton, Bradford Moulton, said he doesn’t “understand” how the training mission continued when it could have been postponed after the storm, calling it a “stupid mistake” during “Fox & Friends.”

“That’s something that I personally cannot understand. Having worked with the military for most of my career, I know the military does hazardous missions all the time, and they train all the time, but this was a highly volatile storm,” Bradford told Steve Doocy on Monday. “They had hurricane-force winds. These helicopters, they were flying, they don’t have defrosters on the windshields. If their rotors ice up, they’re going down. They were flying at an altitude of 5400ft, which was right where the snow and the rain mixes.

“They shouldn’t have been off the ground. It was a training mission. They could have waited four or five hours till the storm passed and then go, but some operations officer made the call, and they left,” he continued. “It’s a terrible tragedy for all of these families.”

“Ben was an awesome kid. He was a super smart kid. Probably one of the smartest kids to ever come out of the school district,” Bradford said of his nephew. “Got a full-ride scholarship, ROTC scholarship to the University of Washington. Graduated in three years with a political science degree, went to officer candidate school, was second in his class in OCS, and was the company commander.”

“He… won [a] marksmanship award in basic training. He was the best shot in his entire unit,” he continued. “He was a captain of the University of Washington boxing team. He liked to hunt and fish and build cars, and he was a blacksmith and a knife maker. And he was just a good, good kid, and it’s just a tragedy that he’s gone over a stupid mistake.”

so the shooter was really a guy who thought he was a woman? then who was the child? and of course–bonus–HE LOVED GUNS!!! and showed off his AR-15
FTA
The individual who walked into Joel Osteen’s Lakewood, Texas church on Sunday, pulled out a gun and opened fire, has been identified as Genesse Ivonne Moreno, 36. Moreno had a 5-year-old child when entering the church wearing a trenchcoat and opened fire when enterring the church.

Local news reports that multiple sources have said that Genesse Ivonne Moreno is suspected of being the “armed woman” who was killed at the church Sunday.
Reports indicated that the shooter was female, but it has since been revealed that Moreno was male. Moreno was shot and killed by two off-duty officers. Moreno’s weapon was emblazoned with the slogan “Free Palestine.”

Jeremy Rogalski of KHOU-TV further reported that Moreno “had prior arrests for assault, forgery, marijuana possession, theft, evading, and unlawful carrying weapon.”

Genesse Moreno went by Jeffrey Escalante Moreno, among other aliases, and was from El Salvador. The child Moreno brought to the church was shot and injured. The child remains in critical condition in a local hospital. A 57-year-old man was also shot in the leg and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities searched a home in Conroe that is believed to be associated with the shooter.

Moreno openly discussed a love of firearms and posted about cleaning an AR-15, showing off the weapon as well.

Louelle Gaffney also elaborated on why she supports Trump, saying that he “embraces the American dream,” “protects our children,” and “puts our country first.”

“Trump embraces the American dream, he protects our children, and he puts our country first,” Louelle Gaffney said. “We should stop questioning the man who wants to Make America Great Again, and start questioning those who are challenging the concept of putting our country and our people first.”

“I knew there would be lots of press this weekend, so I wanted to make a statement,” said Louelle Gaffney. “It may sound silly, but I feel God has put this on my heart to use my platform to encourage others to use their voice to stand for what’s important.”

Asked if she received any backlash over the bag at the star-studded event, Louelle Gaffney said that she had not.

“Funny enough, I got an enormous amount of support,” she said. “People absolutely loved this purse. Guys gave me high-fives, girls gave me praise.”

The intricate beaded bag was made by Lucky Starr Couture.

Some statements from the article:

Moreno also posted about giving money to Osteen’s church, and indicated that Moreno had attended and was part of that church.

Moreno also expressed support for Bernie Sanders.

Moreno shared posts about a child who appeared to be in Moreno’s care.

His handle was “buildingwealthinc”

Nothing makes sense. He expressed support for the church but then shot it up. He cared for a child, then put him in mortal danger. A very mentally disturbed person.

The Biden campaign joins TikTok to reach young voters – 2/12/2024,

US President Joe Biden’s presidential campaign joined the TikTok platform in an attempt to reach young voters, despite warnings and security concerns related to this platform’s connection to China….

The Biden campaign revealed its TikTok account during the Super Bowl final, one of the most watched television events in the United States.

This is the first time that Biden has officially joined the TikTok platform, despite the White House and his campaign previously seeking to reach voters by conducting interviews with influencers and media companies that rely on social media platforms, such as NowThis.

This move reflects a broader media strategy for the Biden campaign, which relies less on traditional media, and seeks to reach young voters who are more likely to receive information through applications such as “Instagram,” “YouTube,” “X” and “Tik Tok.” .

Biden campaign advisors said in a statement that they “will continue to meet voters wherever they are,” including on other social media applications, including Truth Social, owned by former US President Donald Trump.

A campaign official noted that the campaign takes “advanced safety precautions” for its devices and that its presence on TikTok was separate from the ongoing security review of the application….

I swear this is my final Kelce comment ( unless I change my mind 😀 ) but this little backstory makes me think he’s always had a temper~~~

While Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce might be savants on the field, they didn’t exactly excel in the classroom. Their troubles began before they even started kindergarten; on “New Heights,” they revealed that they both got ousted from their preschool classes. Jason’s offense was stabbing another student in the forehead with a spork. As for Travis, he threw a violent tantrum after his preschool teacher told him he had to share a checkerboard with other students. “[I] threw the chair I was sitting in at her,” he recalled.

There was one occasion in middle school where the Kelces were both suspended on the same day for getting into fights with other students, Travis confessed on “New Heights.” But it was Jason who got suspended numerous times for brawling. Speaking to The Athletic, he recalled how he didn’t like the way his older teammates were treating him when he started playing baseball, which caused him to lash out. “I was always kind of like the brunt of the joke,” he said. His anger issues got so bad that he later spoke to a therapist about them.

Donna Kelce believes that Travis didn’t have to deal with bullying like his brother did because Jason fought so much in school. “They were all afraid of Jason so they left Travis alone,” she said. Travis’ bigger issue was his grades; they were so poor that he didn’t get to play football during his sophomore year in high school.

It’s called SSP syndrome.

Sports Special Privilege, it happens when “kids” get treated special because they’re the HS/College star players.
I’ve witnessed it many times. I actually had a very smart HS kid who worked for me once, went away to college and would return on breaks to work. Graduated and then went for his PhD. At one of the top universities with one of the top sports teams. We’d talk when he would return for the Holidays and he’d tell me how the jock’s just sat in the back of class doing nothing and they would just get a passing grade. Then years later I saw the university got caught LOL

Gail Combs

A caving buddy used to tutor the sports jocks at my college…

That leads to a interesting story.

There was a secluded parking lot where college students would go to make out. A bunch of local high school students took to attacking these college students, raping the girl and beating the Schiff out of the guy.

One night they blew it, they beat up the quarter back. — OOPS…

My caving buddy was only about 5’7 so he got stuffed into a dress and a long haired wig. The other quarter back acted as his ‘Date’ and they stuffed a few full backs in the back seat.

On top of that they had a station wagon full of the biggest guys on the team parked (early) under the trees across the way. When the attack came they pulled on the lights, the station wagon quickly drove to the rescue and the football team caught all the high school students and beat the crap out of them.

Meanwhile, the campus cops who were in on the sting, very very leisurely wandered over to take charge.

END OF PROBLEM.

Valerie Curren

priceless!

Cuppa Covfefe

When I was at ‘SC, Anthony Davis was one of the star running backs. He had a HUGE Cadillac, with the vanity plates “AD’s HOG”. He’d park it wherever and whenever he pleased on campus. One day he parked in a VERY strict no-parking zone in front of the admin building (IIRC). He was there for a few hours, nothing happened.

A day or two later, the President of USC, John R. Hubbard, parked in just about the same spot, to dash in, get something, and go to an important meeting…

His car was ticketed and towed… and the campus security/LAPD knew whose car it was….

Some HOGS are more equal than others…..

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Apologizes For Controversial $7 Million Super Bowl Ad

A $7 million Super Bowl ad touting Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s run for president prompted an apology from the independent candidate. (Watch the video below.)

The ad ― produced by American Values 2024, a super political action committee backing Kennedy ― borrowed heavily from a 1960 spot for his uncle John F. Kennedy’s successful presidential bid. It uses the same jingle and co-opts the vintage vibe.

RFK Jr. shared the ad on X, the former Twitter, but hours later added an apology to his family after his cousin, Bobby Shriver, the son of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, slammed the ad. “She would be appalled by his deadly health care views,” Bobby Shriver wrote of his mother. “Respect for science, vaccines, & health care equity were in her DNA.”Nevertheless, the ad not only remained on RFK Jr.’s X account, but was pinned to the top of his profile as of Monday morning.

I’m so sorry if the Super Bowl advertisement caused anyone in my family pain,” Kennedy wrote. “The ad was created and aired by the American Values Super PAC without any involvement or approval from my campaign. FEC rules prohibit Super PACs from consulting with me or my staff. I love you all. God bless you.”

…Robert Shrum, a speechwriter for the late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.), said on X that the ad was “straight out plagiarism.” He added: “To quote Lloyd Bentsen with a slight amendment, ‘Bobby, you’re no John Kennedy.’ Instead you are a Trump ally.”

Kennedy, whose anti-vax views align with those of many conservatives, was grabbing 14% of the general vote in a recent poll that imagined a five-person ballot in November. That positions him as a potential spoiler for the expected main candidates, President Joe Biden and his criminally indicted rival, former President Donald Trump.

The original JFK ad is included in the story.

RFK Jr.’s siblings denounced his independent candidacy in October.

With friends and family like that, who needs enemies?

Trump arrives for hearing in classified docs case being held in special secure facility

Former President Donald Trump has arrived for a hearing Monday in his classified documents case that is being held in a special secure facility due to the sensitive nature of the materials involved.

The hearing, in Fort Pierce, Florida, is being held under seal in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility or SCIF — a specially-equipped secure room for viewing highly classified materials.

Trump’s co-defendants in the case, aide Walt Nauta and Mar-a-Lago property manager Carlos De Oliveira, are not attending the hearing as they do not have clearance to access classified information.

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who is overseeing the case, is hearing arguments from attorneys for Trump and his two co-defendants on their “defense theories of the case” and how “any classified information might be relevant or helpful to the defense,” according to a court filing detailing the schedule.

Special counsel Jack Smith will then present arguments to Judge Canon outside the presence of Trump’s attorneys.

The judge also asked the parties to reserve Tuesday for further proceedings “as necessary.”

…The case is currently scheduled to go to trial on May 20, but ongoing disputes between the parties could delay that date.

Gail Combs

“…Special counsel Jack Smith will then present arguments to Judge Canon 👉outside the presence of Trump’s attorneys….”

WTF???

How can that be?

Is it even LEGAL?
CONSTITUTIONAL?

Does the SIXTH AMENDMENT have bearing?

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.[

Cornell Law: Amdt6.5.1 Early Confrontation Clause Cases

The Confrontation Clause of the Sixth Amendment guarantees a criminal defendant the right “to be confronted with the witnesses against him.” The Clause’s “primary object[ive] . . . was to prevent depositions or ex parte affidavits . . . being used against” the defendant, giving the defendant the opportunity of “testing the recollection and sifting the conscience of the witness.” 1

Although the Supreme Court has long recognized this Sixth Amendment right to confront witnesses in criminal proceedings as “[o]ne of the fundamental guaranties of life and liberty,” 2 until 1965, the Court construed the right as limited to federal court proceedings.3 As a result, in its early doctrine, the Court rejected Confrontation Clause challenges to state court proceedings.4

The Confrontation Clause’s text, which grants the accused a right to confront the “witnesses against” him, generally is addressed to individuals who give formal testimony or its functional equivalent in a criminal proceeding.5 The Court held that the purpose of the Sixth Amendment was “to continue and preserve” a common-law right of confrontation “having recognized exceptions.” 6 For example, the Court in Kirby v. United States described the operation of the Clause as mandating that “a fact which can be primarily established only by witnesses” must allow the defendant to confront those witnesses “at the trial, upon whom he can look while being tried, whom he is entitled to cross-examine, and whose testimony he may impeach in every mode authorized by the established rules governing the trial or conduct of criminal cases.” 7

Similarly, in 1911, the Court interpreted the Confrontation Clause as intended “to secure the accused the right to be tried, so far as facts provable by witnesses are concerned, by only such witnesses as meet him face to face at the trial, 👉who give their testimony in his presence, and give to the accused an opportunity of cross-examination.” 8….

Cornell Law Amdt6.5.2 Confrontation Clause Cases During the 1960s through 1990s

In 1965, the Supreme Court broke from its early doctrine limiting Confrontation Clause protections to federal court proceedings and held that the right to confrontation is “fundamental” and “made obligatory on the States by the Fourteenth Amendment.” 1 Alongside that pronouncement, and in the years immediately following, the Court’s opinions further discussed the relationship between the confrontation right and the bar on hearsay evidence.2 The Court seemingly associated the two concepts, concluding that a key purpose of the right to confrontation is to give criminal defendants “an opportunity to cross-examine the witnesses against him,” absent an applicable hearsay exception.3 In Pointer v. Texas,4

380 U.S. 400, 403 (1965).

the Court rejected the admission of testimony from a prior preliminary hearing on confrontation grounds, because no exception to the hearsay rule applied, and the testimony was taken in circumstances insufficient to secure “an adequate opportunity to cross-examine” the witness through counsel.

Then, in its 1980 opinion Ohio v. Roberts, the Supreme Court again revisited the “relationship between the Confrontation Clause and the hearsay rule with its many exceptions.” 19 In Roberts, the Court explained that the Confrontation Clause “operates in two separate ways to restrict the range of admissible hearsay.” 20 First, “when a hearsay declarant is not present for cross-examination at trial, the Confrontation Clause normally requires a showing that he is unavailable.” 21 Second, if unavailable, “his statement is admissible only if it bears adequate ‘indicia of reliability.’” 22 Indicia of reliability, according to the Court, could “be inferred . . . in a case where the evidence falls within a firmly rooted hearsay exception.” 23

Roberts, 448 U.S. at 66; see also Bourjaily v. United States, 483 U.S. 171, 183 (1987) ( “We think that the co-conspirator exception to the hearsay rule is firmly enough rooted in our jurisprudence that, under this Court’s holding in Roberts, a court need not independently inquire into the reliability of such statements.” ).

Otherwise, reliability would require “a showing of particularized guarantees of trustworthiness.” 24 The Court’s focus in Roberts on reliability or trustworthiness became the primary lens through which the Court examined Confrontation Clause challenges involving extrajudicial statements until 2004, when the Court again changed course….

Due process means [among other things] equal access.

I have never heard of an attorney presenting argument to a tribunal without opposing counsel being present. [except grand jury] Don’t be distracted by arguments relating to witnesses; that is not the problem here.

An Alabama Couple’s Lives Were Upended by an Unconstitutional Police Raid. A Jury Awarded Them $1 Million.

Six years ago, Greg and Teresa Almond were left destitute and living in a utility shed after sheriff’s deputies in Randolph County, Alabama, illegally raided their house and seized their savings over a misdemeanor drug crime.

Now the Almonds will be made partly whole, at least financially. Last month, a jury in their federal civil rights lawsuit awarded the couple $1 million in punitive and compensatory damages after trial testimony showed the deputies never got a warrant to search the Almonds’ property.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Department’s 2018 raid on the Almonds’ house, first reported by the Alabama Appleseed Center for Law and Justice, exemplified the worst aspects of the war on drugs and civil asset forfeiture—a practice that allows police to seize property when it’s suspected of being connected to criminal activity.

On January 31, 2018, a Randolph County sheriff’s deputy showed up at Greg and Teresa Almond’s house in Woodland, Alabama, to serve Greg court papers in a civil matter. The deputy reported that he smelled marijuana.

A county drug task force returned two hours later, busted down the Almonds’ front door, threw a flash-bang grenade at Greg Almond’s feet, detained the couple at gunpoint, and ransacked their house. The search only turned up $50 or less of marijuana, which the Almonds’ adult son tried in vain to claim as his, and a single sleeping pill outside of a prescription bottle with Greg’s name on it.

Using the paltry amount of narcotics as justification, deputies seized roughly $8,000 in cash, along with dozens of firearms and other valuables, under Alabama’s civil asset forfeiture laws. The deputies took the money right out of his wallet, Greg Almond told Reason in 2019.

More than a year after the initial raid, the Almonds were indicted on two misdemeanor charges: unlawful possession of marijuana for personal use and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, thus violating “the peace and dignity of Alabama.” However, prosecutors dropped the charges, and a judge ordered their property to be returned.

The Almonds filed a federal civil rights lawsuit in 2019 alleging that the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department used excessive force; stole, lost, or failed to inventory their missing property; and violated their constitutional protections against unreasonable searches and seizures, as well as their right to due process.

That was in addition to the other injuries they suffered. As a result of the raid and arrest, the Almonds’ missed a crucial deadline to refinance loans on their farm and lost their house. Their reputation was tarnished, and their ability to earn a living was practically destroyed.

What’s more, depositions and trial testimony showed that the deputies never obtained an official search warrant from a judge for the raid.

U.S. District Judge R. Austin Huffaker, a Trump appointee, wrote that because of the undisputed testimony, there was no question whether the Almonds’ Fourth Amendment rights were violated. They had been, and no reasonable jury could find otherwise. Nor did the deputies’ assertions that they had acted in good faith hold any weight…

Cases like these led Alabama lawmakers to add transparency requirements in 2019 to the state’s asset forfeiture laws, which ranked among the most aggressive and unchecked in the U.S.

But the Almonds will never look at law enforcement the same way.

Gail Combs

I am very glad they sued and won.

Civil asset forfeiture laws are the NASTIEST ‘laws’ on the books because it allows the cops the RIGHT to TAKE stuff WITHOUT a crime, criminal charges or a trial first!

FEAR: Why FEAR civil asset forfeiture?

Incredible as it sounds, civil asset forfeiture laws allow the government to seize property without charging anyone with a crime….

Newspapers and television stories across the nation documented hundreds of cases of innocent citizens wrongfully deprived of their homes, businesses and livlihoods. Eighty percent of property forfeited to the US during the previous decade was seized from owners who were never even charged with a crime! Over $7 billion has been forfeited to the federal government since 1985. Until the advent of FEAR law enforcement officials promoting expanded forfeiture laws comprised the overwhelming majority of lobbyists at hearings on forfeiture litigation. Meanwhile, prosecutors complained that police were less available to investigate crimes that did not involve forfeiture.

Over 200 federal forfeiture laws are attached to non-drug related crimes.  Even a false statement on a loan application can trigger forfeiture. Physicians are subject to forfeiture of their entire assets based on a clerical errors in medicare billing. The government even tried to forfeit a farmer’s tractor for allegedly running over an endangered rat. The federal government obtained a judgment of forfeiture against the prized sailboat “Flash II,” once owned by the late John F. Kennedy, without bothering to provide notice to the principle owner of the forfeiture proceeding against the sloop. It took several years of expensive litigation before the district court in Massachusetts ruled the historic sailboat had never been legally subject to forfeiture; that the government had no right to seize and then sell the sloop; and that the proceeds of that sale rightfully belong to the innocent owner…

Stealing Your Life Away: The Threat of Civil Asset Forfeiture

Much like fractional reserve lending, the term “civil asset forfeiture” is little other than a semantic relabeling of one method used by government to engage in legalized property theft.

I can’t find the nation of Black, and nobody can tell me where the nation of Black is on a map, so I’m still not quite convinced it’s actually a national anthem.

Unless it’s for the nation of Kwanzaa.

I can’t find the nation of Kwanzaa anywhere either. It could be in an office at FIB headquarters.

I don’t know the implications of this, but it’s so gratifying to see.

Questions I have:
• If Fani were removed from the case, would they just appoint someone else instead of dropping the case?
• If so, how long would it take to get that person up to speed? I imagine it would be someone already working on the case, if they can find someone without a conflict of interest.
• Would the case be postponed until after the election?

I’m hoping Fani will have to resign her position as well as face legal penalties.

seeing questions similar to the ones swirling around in my head being asked without answers…
the House has the “power of the purse” so to speak. if they allocate money for something–say the border wall and it doesn’t get spent there…then what? is the President derelict in his duties? or do most spending bills have bailout clauses–this is where we want it to go, but if there’s an emergency, it can allocated where needed?

this is all because the senate is slipping the save ukraine or get impeached clause into their new bill. can they tie a President’s hands that way? seems they can could do with everything and then the President is now just their puppet…

I am trying to find out if NATO was a Constitutional Treaty or what. It looks like it is just a MILITARY AGREEMENT. 🤔

Treaty Politics and the Rise of Executive Agreements: International Commitments in a System of Shared Powers

Executive agreements do not require super-majority support in the Senate as do formal Article II treaties. Since the 1940s, the vast majority of international agreements have been completed by presidents as executive agreements rather than as treaties. This major policy evolution occurred without changes to the Constitution, though Supreme Court decisions and practice by the political branches have validated the change. This has led some scholars to conclude that the treaty power “has become effectively a Presidential monopoly” (Franck and Weisband 1979: 135; see also Corwin 1984).

EVEN WORSE

U.S. law distinguishes what it calls treaties, which are derived from the Treaty Clause of the United States Constitution, from congressional-executive agreements and executive agreements. All three classes are considered treaties under international law; they are distinct only from the perspective of internal United States law….

…So for instance, if the US Supreme Court found that a treaty violated the US constitution, it would no longer be binding on the US under US law; but it would still be binding on the US under international law, unless its unconstitutionality was manifestly obvious to the other states [nations] at the time the treaty was contracted

NATO I can find NOTHING that shows where the North Atlantic Treaty was ratified by Congress.

WIKI:

The British worked with Washington to expand the alliance into NATO in 1949, adding the United States and Canada as well as Italy, Portugal, Norway, Denmark, and Iceland (1)

(1)  Cees Wiebes and Bert Zeeman, “The Pentagon Negotiations March 1948: The Launching of the North Atlantic Treaty.” International Affairs 59.3 (1983): 351-363.

Foot note one leads to this:

The coup in Czechoslovakia on 25 February and Soviet pressure on Norway in early March provided Bevin with the opportunity he was seeking, to encourage greater American involvement in the defence of Western Europe. His approach to the State Department and the Canadian Department of External Affairs on 11 March contained three proposals. The first was a United Kingdom—France—Benelux system with United States backing. The second was a scheme of Atlantic security, with which the United States would be even more closely linked. And the third was a system of Mediterranean security, which would be designed to take care of Italy.1 Bevin’s suggestion that negotiations on his proposals should begin as soon as possible was accepted by Marshall and the Canadian Prime Minister, Mackenzie King. As a result, highly secret talks took place in Washington from 22 March to 1 April during which ‘the North Atlantic Treaty was effectively conceived’.2

The North Atlantic Treaty — Washington D.C. – 4 April 1949
WIKI:

[QUOTE}
The North Atlantic Treaty is the treaty that forms the legal basis of, and is implemented by, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The treaty was signed in Washington, D.C., on 4 April 1949.
Background[edit]
:wpds_arrow: The treaty was signed in Washington, D.C., on 4 April 1949 by a committee which was chaired by US diplomat Theodore Achilles. Earlier secret talks had been held at the Pentagon between 22 March and 1 April 1948, of which Achilles said:

The talks lasted about two weeks and by the time they finished, it had been secretly agreed that there would be a treaty, and I had a draft of one in the bottom drawer of my safe. It was never shown to anyone except Jack [Hickerson]. I wish I had kept it, but when I left the Department in 1950, I dutifully left it in the safe and I have never been able to trace it in the archives. It drew heavily on the Rio Treaty, and a bit of the Brussels Treaty, which had not yet been signed, but of which we were being kept heavily supplied with drafts. The eventual North Atlantic Treaty had the general form, and a good bit of the language of my first draft, but with a number of important differences.[1]

According to Achilles, another important author of the treaty was John D. Hickerson:

More than any human being Jack was responsible for the nature, content, and form of the Treaty...It was a one-man Hickerson treaty.[1]

[UNQUOTE]
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Milestones in the History of U.S. Foreign Relations: North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), 1949

the Truman Administration instituted a peacetime draft, increased military spending, and called upon the historically isolationist Republican Congress to consider a military alliance with Europe. In May of 1948, Republican Senator Arthur H. Vandenburg proposed a resolution suggesting that the President seek a security treaty with Western Europe that would adhere to the United Nations charter but exist outside of the Security Council where the Soviet Union held veto power. The Vandenburg Resolution passed, and negotiations began for the North Atlantic Treaty.

In spite of general agreement on the concept behind the treaty, it took several months to work out the exact terms. The U.S. Congress had embraced the pursuit of the international alliance, but it remained concerned about the wording of the treaty. The nations of Western Europe wanted assurances that the United States would intervene automatically in the event of an attack, but under the U.S. Constitution the power to declare war rested with Congress. Negotiations worked toward finding language that would reassure the European states but not obligate the United States to act in a way that violated its own laws….

The result of these extensive negotiations was the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty in 1949….

“We need missiles.”

___________

Why?

Just stop and think about that for a second.

I mean, it’s not like the 1930s, when most people and cultures around the world didn’t have a lot of interaction with each other, and so misunderstandings could flare up into armed global conflict.

We have phones now. And orders of magnitude more passenger planes. People are traveling all over the world, all the time. And international commerce.

So what does our government need missiles for?

Why is our government’s first, last and only response the use of force [or credible threat of same]?

Don’t they understand anything else?

Aren’t there other, better, non-violent ways of solving problems?

https://jonathanturley.org/2024/02/10/new-filing-accuses-fani-willis-of-lying-about-the-date-of-her-affair-with-nathan-wade/

There was a notable filing in the ongoing scandal in Georgia over the intimate relationship between Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis and her subordinate special prosecutor Nathan J. Wade. Defense lawyer, Ashleigh Merchant, claims to have an affidavit that Willis lied about when the relationship began — a critical fact in her defense against ethical allegations.

Willis and Wade insisted that the relationship had not begun until 2022, after she hired him (in November 2021) to serve as special counsel to prosecute former president Donald Trump.

Ms. Merchant identifies the witness as Terrance Bradley, who served previously as Wade’s divorce lawyer and worked in his law firm. That itself is quite irregular given the strong protections for attorney-client privilege. However, Merchant told the court that “Bradley has non-privileged, personal knowledge that the romantic relationship between Wade and Willis began prior to Willis being sworn as the district attorney for Fulton County, Georgia in 2021.”

In this sworn affidavit filed with the court, Wade states “[i]n 2022, District Attorney Willis and I developed a personal relationship in addition to our professional association and friendship.”

As a sworn statement filed with the court, a materially false statement would pose a very serious violation for both lawyers. This was the key determinative element cited by both Willis and Wade to show that there was no ethical breach in the hiring of Wade.

We obviously need to hear from Willis and Wade — and learn more of the details. The key date is November 2021 in terms of the hiring of Wade. There is also the question of how his information was “non-privileged, personal knowledge.” If the affiant is suggesting that there were public displays or confirmation of this relationship, there could be other witnesses who could be called to give accounts.

The filing also suggests that there may have been other trips taken by the lawyers.

Merchant states “[s]ince Willis and Wade were not forthright about their relationship in the first instance, there is no reason to believe they are telling the truth now,”

Notably, the defendants in the Georgia case include those charged with making false statements and filing false documents. If Willis or Wade has now done so, the political and legal impact on the case would be devastating. Once again, the only thing more troubling than the relationship itself has been the response of Willis and Wade to the scandal. They have consistently put their own interests before that of the case and the office in my view.

This is great. WaPo, emphasis mine:
Trump plans to attend Georgia hearing on misconduct allegations against prosecutors

Former president Donald Trump plans to attend a Thursday hearing in Atlanta on allegations that Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis (D) engaged in an improper personal relationship with the lead prosecutor on the election interference case, according to two individuals with knowledge of the possible trip.

Trump has a scheduled appearance in New York the same day for a pretrial conference in a case that’s slated to go to trial on March 25. Trump is charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with hush money payments to adult-film actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election.

If he instead travels to Atlanta, it will be his first court appearance in the sprawling racketeering case since a grand jury indicted him and 18 others in August. They are accused of criminally conspiring to try to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. At least one of those defendants, former Georgia GOP chairman David Shafer, is also expected to attend. If more do the same, Thursday could provide an early glimpse of what a multi-defendant trial could look like.

If Trump attends Thursday’s hearing, he would be able to watch as Willis’s personal life and professional integrity are scrutinized and questioned. His appearance would likely draw even more attention and perhaps chaos to the already highly anticipated hearing.

The former president spent part of Monday at a closed-door hearing in Florida for yet another criminal case — on federal charges that he improperly withheld classified documents and obstructed government efforts to retrieve them. At that hearing, Judge Aileen Cannon met separately with prosecutors and Trump and his attorneys to determine what additional classified materials should be released to Trump as part of discovery.

In Georgia, it’s unclear if the Fulton County Courthouse is prepared for a visit from the former president. A spokeswoman for the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, which oversees the building’s security, said she was unaware of Trump’s plans. The two individuals who said Trump hopes to travel to Atlanta spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss it…
