This is premature as the biopsy is being taken today but my bf’s granddaughter and her bf ( early 20’s) were visiting over the weekend. Her bf has been showing all symptoms of lymphoma. They’re both vaxxed and boosted.
One of the strangest things about it was that both of them almost seemed relieved that it might be cancer so that the symptoms would finally be explained. That didn’t compute in my brain. They both were so relieved 100% sure that chemo and crystal therapy would fix it forever. 😧

I’m very skeptical of getting tantalized by mysteries and connections of man’s making. IMO, we have everything we need, NOW. We have the Scriptures and instructions on how to live, as well as teachings on the nature of man and the evils of this world. We see, in concrete terms, exactly what is happening in the world, spiritually and politically. We know to repent and be faithful. I don’t know what we are supposed to gain from these “signs.”

Para, this has nothing to do with this post but from your comment in yesterday’s forum. You indicated a more than passing interest in ancient creation stories. As you read from my post, I have started a new book by John Walton called “The Lost World of Genesis One” which attempts to allow a modern reader to understand the worldview of early Christian scripture authors. I have now completed the first couple of chapters and find his writing to be easily comprehended by anyone with an ordinary background in the subject matter. Walton is quite good at explaining his terms and his assumptions and has supplied a number of useful ancient source material to follow his arguments. You may find it worth your while to consider his book for your research.
I looked over the book on Amazon and Good Reads, spent some time in the reviews. Seems he continues on with a book II an III.
Looks interesting. May add it to the to read pile. Some of the Gnostics for which there were multiple schools of, also had very diverse thoughts on Creation but the vast majority of their material was purged along with many of them in the late second and third century. Still enough of it still exists if one is looking for contemporary biblical time thought on creation. I don’t see him touching on that at all, by review of his bibliography or index. I did find some of his references I’ve read or have read around them, so I’d likely feel comfortable exploring his ideas.
He makes some statements about what the ancients knew about the cosmos using such as established fact. Personally I’d be much more flexible about that and would give it a skeptical eye.

Over all the book looks rather interesting and has added it to the read pile.
Yes he does stay in the Middle East for the express reason that he is exploring how people in that part of the world expressed their worldview. That is the world of the ancient Israelites and thus is the place where these cultures would intersect. I have found that some people who are hesitant about his writings on these topics are assuming it is another attempt to backdoor evolution into the Christian faith. I do not believe that is the case. Walton is an Old Testament scholar who is also a Christian and has no interest in destroying anyone’s faith in the Bible. He is attempting to place it in the context of the worldviews of the time. The faith we follow is very old but we sometimes are anachronistic in our interpretations as though the Bible was written last week.
He does have seven books that deal with understanding the Bible in the context of the culture of the Old Testament. He has also written commentaries on Genesis and Job and a host of books about the Jewish culture of the Old Testament.
