What is it that feeds our battle, yet starves our victory?
January 6 Tapes Reminder
After the first release, we were supposed to get more, every week.
As far as I know it hasn’t happened.
Speaker Johnson, please follow through!
A Caution
Just remember…we might replace the RINO candidates. (Or we might not. The record is mixed even though there is more MAGA than there used to be.) But that will make no difference in the long run if the party officials, basically the Rhonna McDaniels (or however that’s spelled–I suspect it’s RINO), don’t get replaced.
State party chairs, vice chairs, secretaries and so on, and the same at county levels, have huge influence on who ultimately gets nominated, and if these party wheelhorses are RINOs, they will work tirelessly to put their own pukey people on the ballot. In fact I’d not be surprised if some of our “MAGA” candidates are in fact, RINO plants, encouraged to run by the RINO party leadership when they realized that Lyn Cheney (and her ilk) were hopelessly compromised as effective candidates. The best way for them to deal with the opposition, of course, is to run it themselves.
Running good candidates is only HALF of the battle!
Booting a RINO
I’ve spent the last couple of years pounding home the message that RINO McDaniels was a symptom of a problem…a party shot through with RINO officials. In this instance it was the hundred or so members of the RNC who gleefully voted for her again, and again, and again.
Well I got to help take one of those hundred people down, as told here: https://www.theqtree.com/2024/04/07/i-aim-to-raise-a-ruckus/. What’s even better is that oxygen thief was apparently boiling mad at how poorly she did in the vote (according to a MAGA candidate for a county office I spoke to on Tuesday night). Apparently she felt entitled to her office no matter what the rubes thing…and that attitude turns people into RINOs.
Judging from the number of comments received few noticed or cared about the post, but nonetheless I noticed a pattern: Hardly anyone who regularly puts forth “devolution” or “this is all a movie” theories (or any other variant of the idea that Trump and/or his allies are really in charge) seemed to care about it. I described successful action against the enemy and they didn’t care.
I submit that that is the desired effect of such ideas as devolution…to get people on our side not to care, not to participate, not to fight, because they believe someone else will do it for them. “Nothing can stop what is coming?” Great! I don’t have to lift a finger, just be ready to microwave some popcorn!
If any of you really are thinking like this, you might as well be controlled opposition. You’re doing exactly what the other side wants you to do, sitting on your hands waiting for deliverance by deus ex machina.
SPECIAL SECTION: Message For Our “Friends” In The Middle Kingdom
I normally save this for near the end, but…basically…up your shit-kicking barbarian asses. Yes, barbarian! It took a bunch of sailors in Western Asia to invent a real alphabet instead of badly drawn cartoons to write with. So much for your “civilization.”
Yeah, the WORLD noticed you had to borrow the Latin alphabet to make Pinyin. Like with every other idea you had to steal from us “Foreign Devils” since you rammed your heads up your asses five centuries ago, you sure managed to bastardize it badly in the process.
Have you stopped eating bats yet? Are you shit-kickers still sleeping with farm animals?
Or maybe even just had the slightest inkling of treating lives as something you don’t just casually dispose of?

And here’s my response to barbarian “asshoes” like you:
OK, with that rant out of my system…
Biden Gives Us Too Much Credit
…we can move on to the next one.
Apparently Biden (or his puppeteer) has decided we’re to blame for all of the fail in the United States today.
Sorry to disappoint you Joe (or whoever), but you managed to do that all on your own; not only that, you wouldn’t let us NOT give you the chance because you insisted on cheating your way into power.
Yep, you-all are incompetent, and so proud of it you expect our applause for your sincerity. Fuck that!!
It wouldn’t be so bad, but you insist that everyone else have to share in your misery. Nope, can’t have anyone get out from under it. Somehow your grand vision only works if every single other person on earth is forced to go along. So much as ONE PERSON not going along is enough to make it all fail, apparently.
In engineering school we’re taught that a design that has seven to eight billion single points of failure…sucks.
Actually, we weren’t taught that. Because it would never have occurred to the professors to use such a ridiculous example.
Justice Must Be Done.
The prior election must be acknowledged as fraudulent, and steps must be taken to prosecute the fraudsters and restore integrity to the system.

OK now for the fine print.
This is the WQTH Daily Thread. You know the drill. There’s no Poltical correctness, but civility is a requirement. There are Important Guidelines, here, with an addendum on 20191110.
We have a new board – called The U Tree – where people can take each other to the woodshed without fear of censorship or moderation.
And remember Wheatie’s Rules:
1. No food fights

3. If you bring snacks, bring enough for everyone.
4. Zeroth rule of gun safety: Don’t let the government get your guns.
5. Rule one of gun safety: The gun is always loaded.
5a. If you actually want the gun to be loaded, like because you’re checking out a bump in the night, then it’s empty.
6. Rule two of gun safety: Never point the gun at anything you’re not willing to destroy.
7. Rule three: Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
8. Rule the fourth: Be sure of your target and what is behind it.
(Hmm a few extras seem to have crept in.)
Spot Prices
All prices are Kitco Ask, 3PM MT Friday (at that time the markets close for the weekend). (Note: most media quotes are for the bid…the price paid by the market makers, not the ask, which is what they will sell at. I figure the ask is more relevant to people like us who wish we could afford to buy these things. In the case of gold the difference is usually about a dollar, for the PGMs the spread is much wider.)
Last Week:
Gold $2,343.90
Silver $27.94
Platinum $984.00
Palladium $1,072.00
Rhodium $5,200.00
This week, markets closed at 3PM Mountain Time Friday for the weekend.
Gold $2,392.20
Silver $28.75
Platinum $943.00
Palladium $1,052.00
Rhodium $5,300.00
Gold has been see-sawing around a bit (it broke $2400 earlier this week but dropped again–not as hard as last week, certainly; it’s still close this time) but slowly trending upwards when all is said and done. Silver is also showing strength at this level. Platinum and palladium on the other hand are not doing that well; they’re actually down for the week (even though palladium closed up for the day on Friday). Rhodium is the only PGM that is doing at all well.

Much more at the link.
An illustration of how ridiculous the invented gender issues are:
That’s why they were pushing “latinx” so hard — they want to be able to say “no binarix”.
As with most languages that use gender, it is a fundamental part of Spanish. As an example, a speaker is expected to match the gender of all parts of speech.
We’ll take a basic example — “those pretty ______”. With hands — “manos” — a masculine noun, this would be “esos manos lindos”. With legs — “piernas” — a feminine noun, this would be esas piernas lindas”.
In order to try to adapt Spanish for gender fluidity, they propose to essentially gut the entire language and replace it with a new one…..but only if they can get people used to “latinx”.
another extension of the insanity…sigh…
It gets even more fun with German, where there are sixteen ways of saying “the” — and items can be masculine, feminine, or neuter.
Except that there really aren’t 16 ways. In the nominative: der, die, das, die (Masculine, feminine, neuter, plural). In the accusative: den, die, das, die. Note that not only does “die” do double duty in the nominative, but that ONLY der changes going to the accusative. So there are four forms instead of eight and we’re half way through the cases already.
Dative: dem, der, dem, den
Genitive (for Valerie, this case indicates possession and can usually be translated with “of”) des, der, des, der.
Total six different forms of “der”/”the” filling sixteen roles. And note that the plural is automatically gender neutral, there’s just the one plural form.
And since you implied that German is not annoying in the way Russian is, note that the dative and genitive feminine is identical to the nominative masculine.
A true agglutinative language would have three different suffixes (or prefixes), one that indicates only case, one that indicates only gender, and one that indicates only number. Maybe it could combine gender with number but it then loses the ability to specify a crowd of men vs. a crowd of women. With German we have one article trying to do all three at once and it’s degenerate because it doesn’t map one-to-one.
The funny thing is that agglutinative languages…at least the ones I’ve heard of, don’t even have grammatical gender (or classes) at all.
“agglutinative languages” meaning? also, as opposed to?
I explained that elsewhere forgot to do it here. They’re languages that build up words with prefixes and suffixes as a regular feature of their grammar. Trying to find an example…there are plenty of languages like this but they’re generally unfamiliar ones like Turkish and Finnish.
Here’s one I found, describing Turkish:
Literally every one of those independent things (“morphemes” are bits of language that are significant to meaning) means one thing in particular and they come together to mean “from your houses”.
The difference between that and a fusional language is that sometimes a morpheme means two things at once, e.g., accusative case AND masculine.
From the same wikipedia article on agglutination teere’s another example, from Persian, using the sentence “mashinhashunra niga mikardam” meaning “I was looking at their cars.”
mashinhashunra means “at their cars” and breaks down like this:
mashin (car) + ha (plural) + shun (possessive suffix) + ra (post-positional suffix) = “at their cars.”
TY Steve. Your depth & breadth of knowledge pretty much always astounds me 🙂
I knew the answer in general. The examples I pulled from wikipoo. Since the only alternative would have been to make something up (I would have said it was a made up example) and maybe have someone doubt that any such thing really existed.
Such skepticism in the Q-Tree, shocked, shocked I say!
With Russian, you can tell the case and gender from the ending. Unfortunately they’re not coded separately, and the system is degenerate, meaning the same ending could mean two different pairs of case and gender. A noun ending in -a could be (for instance) nominative feminine or accusative masculine. (Because two things are coded in the same syllable, Russian is considered a “fusional” language rather than an “agglutinative” language. In an agglutinative language there would be separate suffixes to denote case and gender, and you’d have to apply both suffixes as needed.) There are a very few “cross dresser” nouns whose ending in the nominative doesn’t actually match their gender, but for most part the system is pretty solid.
German is much more annoying. You can’t tell from the noun itself what gender it is; you have to memorize that so you can make the article (a, an or the) match. der Tisch (the table, masculine) vs. die Banana (the banana, feminine) and yes banana is feminine despite its shape.
[To others] The way that you get sixteen ways of saying “the” (or “a”, or “this”) in German is four genders (masculine, feminine, neuter, and formal) and four cases (nominative, accusative, genitive, and dative).
[To Steve] I don’t see how German is much more annoying if nominative feminines or accusative masculines can both end in -a.
I did not study languages that had this topic “nominative, accusative, genitive, and dative” but a friend was taking Latin & she used to use such lingo about that subject. So I’m guessing here so Please Correct me if wrong 🙂
nominative–applies to naming of people or things
accusative–accusing/aggressive speech
genitive–potentially applying to the gender/sex of the person/object
dative–related to the date, place in time
I’m assuming your ability to describe a sundial accurately suits you for enlightening my ignorant self 🙂
It’s more like, “The student gave the apple to the teacher.” Nominative does the action — “student”. Accusative is the thing being acted upon — “apple”. Dative is the destination — “teacher”. Even if the genders were the same, the three uses of “the” would be different.
https://storylearning.com/learn/german/german-tips/german-cases-explained
Genitive is for ownership….in an odd and extended sort of way, like a table’s leg.
TY That makes sense-ish, but I would probably have to keep referring to your example to take action on the topic. This old dog doesn’t learn new tricks very well!
For this old dog, it’s an old half-remembered trick. I haven’t used much German for 40 years.
I never took German but Thought it might be Slightly easier than French to learn as it Might have been a bit closer to English.
At least with French I can guess Some of Spanish, Italian, or Latin & Occasionally get close to some of it especially if I can see it, like with subtitles LOL
It’s been more than 30 years since I took French but my kids had various foreign languages about decade+ ago so that provided a bit of a “refresher” 🙃
The Fiancee is currently taking Italian courses.
Spanish was part of her major in college, and I got a bunch of it in High School and growing up in California, and we’ve both been to Italy and just mumbled Spanish at them and got along fine.
You can sort of “wing-it” between the romance languages.
That’s fun. One of my HS friends was an exchange student from Belgium, Veronique, & we would converse in Franglish at times 🙂
German is actually considered a more difficult language than the Romance languages. The State Department has to teach languages to diplomats and they’ve noted how many hours of instruction it takes. The easy languages are category 1 requiring 24-30 weeks, and that’s French, Spanish, Romanian, etc. Category 2 has one language in it, German, 30+ weeks. Then you get to Categories 3 (36 weeks, examples Swahili and Indonesian), 4 (Russian, Hindi, Tamil, Thai, Turkish, Finnish, Vietnamese, about 44 weeks) and 5 (88 weeks, Chinese, Cantonese Japanese, Korean, Arabic, etc.)
The site doesn’t say what languages like Georgian, Basque or Navajo would be like but I would be surprised if they aren’t all Category 5.
German is literally in a class of its own; it’s the only language in category 2.
I’m actually surprised Indonesian is in category 3, it’s reputed to be a very “simple” language grammatically speaking; I’ve even heard people say that Esperanto should just go away and people interested in an international language should just use Indonesian.
Side note – Navajo does not have a written language. Watch the movie Windtalkers to see how this helped win WW2 in the Pacific theater.
Actually they’ve adapted the Latin alphabet. This was developed from 1935 – 1940. However during WWII the vast majority of speakers were illiterate so, you are *effectively* correct.
Well … I effectively thanQ.
😆
The thing is, all those categories assume that you start from English. I wonder how languages would rate “in reverse”.
Further, it would be interesting to know how each of the languages related to each other, and whether such rankings would be reciprocal. Is it easier for a Gaelic-speaker to learn Spanish than it is for a Spanish-speaker to learn Gaelic?
Is there a link available for these ratings?
I was reading this as I wrote the post.
You’re right this necessarily is from the standpoint of native English speakers not already familiar with a language related to the target one. But then I am talking to you and Valerie here so it seemed appropriate to work in that frame of reference.
Foreigners learning English have trouble with our spelling, of course, but I was talking to one from Southeast Asia and his biggest hangup was multiple meanings for the same word (not even homophones, but the actual same word).
https://www.fsi-language-courses.org/blog/fsi-language-difficulty/
I was kind of suspecting that English might be level 4 or better for practically everyone.
The link discusses getting to “Speaking – 3; Reading – 3” level proficiency, and English is peculiar in that getting to S1/R1 might be fairly easy (with the stripped-down grammar), but doing subsequent steps are likely quite difficult.
The guy must really hate Finnish. He listed it twice on the Level 4 page.
LOL hyvaa boyka (“good boy”, spelled phonetically, for Finnish I only learned auditorily) 😉
The only Finnish I know is “sisu” but it’s a good one to know.
I also know enough to hate hearing the round called “la POO ah” and the rifle “SAYko”. Both are egregious butcherings. The Finns build fine hardware and deserve more respect.
My grandma made an excellent Finnish rye bread called “limpuah” (I don’t know how it’s spelled). My mom made her own version of limpuah, not as dark nor as dense as Grandma’s was. Both were great, especially toasted & slathered with butter. My mom’s sometimes had incorporated shaved orange peels too.
The Finnish pronunciation of sauna, SOW-Nuh, pisses off my hubby & kids who didn’t grow up with my grandparents’ sauna so as to hear that word pronounced Correctly frequently.
I know the Finnish phrases:
Good Boy
Good Girl
Merry Christmas
Happy New Year
Praise the Lord
But I bet all of the above is in some type of archaic Finnish for my grandparents were both kids of Immigrant parents, some of Grandma’s siblings were even born in Finland, & Finnish was spoken in their homes, but the language of the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. G&G went to Finland a couple of times & amused the Finns w/ their “quaint” usage of Finnish, which had clearly “evolved” as languages tend to do.
Just as likely as it being archaic is that they (or their descendants) changed it to match the sounds of English they hear around them.
you can find sites online where you can type a word or common phrase in some foreign language and hear a recording of a native speaker saying it. Might be interesting to compare your pronunciation with theirs.
Could be fun–TY for the tip
oh, and if a Finn were to say that to ME I’d also be highly complimented.
I think that my grandpa just might have said that about you too. He was quite an interesting guy.
You might appreciate this tidbit about him I wrote to Ya’acov Apelbaum:
This post displays a mischievous spirit reminiscent of my maternal grandfather. He was a teacher in the Hamtramck Public Schools (Polish working class community landlocked by the city of Detroit, MI) & once thoroughly enjoyed a practical joke he pulled. There was a glass case displaying award winning art material at the school in which he worked. He cut a piece of one of his work benches splotched with paint from various projects from over the years, placed that randomly painted wood in the awards cabinet, & moved one of the ribbons onto his “work”. Then he would linger by the display to overhear the artistically inspired discussions. Those people who went on & on about the artistic genius & the technical creativity of his work just solidified his views on the pointlessness of high-brow, better-than-thou personages & their inflated self-importance. I’m sure he would have loved your little experiment…as do I!

Hahaha!!! That does remind me of better known stories of chimpanzees and elephants producing “art” that got reviews from modern art types.
Or the people who wrote complete word salad blather and got it published in a post modernist journal called Social Text.
Once when I was flush with money I bought a lot of art…real art…from a gallery and the lady running it would kick you out of her store (or at the very least mock-threaten you) if you dropped the name “Jackson Pollock” in front of her.
I thought he “Jackson Pollock” was a “genius” paint spatterer LOL
I think I told you before that my grandpa told me I had Sisu once, which I dearly treasure. I believe the occasion was when I was home on a college break having brought a couple friends with me, one from Aruba & Venezuela (she lived in both countries), & one from Jamaica. Apparently I got these hot climate women to join me in a sauna & then a jump into the lake through a hole in the ice to rinse off.
That Jamaican friend later became a US citizen & my parents & I travelled to Chicago to witness her naturalization…
Fascinating. I can’t imagine that the skill level of a language “learned” in 24-30 weeks is super high, unless the person has a great language aptitude intelligence, and unless those weeks are Highly immersive, but I could be wrong. Is this training purported to be inclusive of oral & written language?
Remember that 26 weeks is half a year.
Which is much to my regret. German is a beautiful and orderly language that enforces a certain formality of thought that is quite different than English or the romance languages.
I don’t mind that formality & would do “literal” translations of French in addition to idiomatic. It helped me make sense of some of it.
RSVP=Respondez s’il vous plait=respond if it pleases you=please respond
I think some of those “exacting” tendencies, at least for me, might be representative of some type of neurodiversity or just an annoying quirk of my personality if you ask Hubby!
You’ve been blessed! 🙂
From the link —
In English, we use word order to clarify which nouns are subjects, objects, and indirect objects. But German allows for more freedom of word placement, as long as we use the correct case.
Following are a few examples of the accusative case:
As you can see, the meaning of the sentence is derived from the case, rather than the word order.
fascinating but rather confusing–TY
Because you generally learn a noun (or look it up in the dictionary) in its nominative form. And there you know immediately which gender it is without having to memorize an article to go with it.
Yes it can be tough for a noob to decipher from nothing a written sentence since you might mistake something’s case; but it’s not a barrier at all for someone who keeps context in mind…and it doesn’t hinder creating your own sentence (either in writing or in speech).
I one time deciphered a sentence in Russian, that made very elegant use of the case system. In normal speech Russians generally use Subject-Object-Verb word order even though with case endings they don’t have to.
This sentence, freely translated, would have been something like, “gold coins were minted at Philadelphia, New Orleans, Dahlonega, Charlotte, San Francisco, Carson City, and Denver.” But the sentence began with the list all in the proper case (Russian and German share the feature of having prepositions “take” non-intuitive-to-us cases) and ended with “gold coins were minted at.”
To keep the word order in English translation, you’d have to list the mints, then end the sentence with “…all minted gold coins” making the mints the subject instead of the object of a preposition, and “gold coins” no longer the subject of the sentence.
The issue of “you have to memorize” stuff seems to apply to English quite a bit, at least as far as spellings & pronunciations go. We have enough “gender confusion” without having words to memorize the “gender” of 😉
English is a wildly stripped-down language — we use “the” for “the birds” and “the trees” and “the table” and “the girl”. Everything is “I go”, “you go”, “they go”, “we go” — the only thing different is “he, she, or it goes”. Even so, there are complicated parts of English that you know and use everyday that you don’t recognize as weird unless you have studied other languages. The classic example is adjective order.
https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/grammar/british-grammar/adjectives-order
I remember French class & conjugating verbs
Je–I
Tu–you, familiar (probably similar to Thee/Thou)
Vous–you, plural or not closely associated
Il (capital “I” small case “l”)–he
Elle–she
Nous–we
Ils–They, males
Elles–They, females
I think that the il/elle & ils/elles may also apply to the “gender” of the word too but those details are in the murky past for me..
Even with similar structures, languages can have amusing differences. As an example, Spanish and German have a distinction between familiar you (“tu” and “du”, respectively) and a more formal you (“usted” and “Sie”), and you have to conjugate your verbs accordingly.
The thing is, with Spanish, you can meet a random person on the street and be talking about “tu” in a short period of time (differs between city and country, etc.). By contrast, a couple in Germany could have gone on several dates, seen a bunch of movies, gone out for coffee a bunch of times….and the guy might spring for a fancy candlelit dinner where the gal says (formal) “are you feeling ok?” and he replies, “oh, please call me ‘du’.”
!!!
They may or may not have slept together by that point…..which reminds me of the difference between “schlafen mit” and “beischlafen”….
which is?
One is more Biblical than the other.
At the time, they were both pretty theoretical, so I’m afraid I can’t remember which is which.
I checked. “Schlafen mit” is in the same room; “beischlafen” you both are likely awake.
hmmm
I was thinking “mit” was some form of “my” 🙄
When you said Biblical, I’m thinking of “knowing someone Biblically”, perhaps because you mentioned “sleeping together” recently, which Might not be At All what you are referring to 😮
Pretty much the only nouns in English that change due to case are the pronouns, he/him/his, etc.
Other than that we’ve dropped the case endings that are a characteristic of Indo-European languages.
Were they a part of old or middle English though?
Old English, certainly. Not sure whether they were still around for Middle English.
“Other than that we’ve dropped the case endings that are a characteristic of Indo-European languages.”
So was Old English an Indo-European language?
Yes (by way of West Germanic and proto-Germanic the father language of all Germanic languages), and therefore so is modern English.
Nice, “a lesser son of greater sires” to be sure!
It is said that most languages are handed down from ancestors to descendants as part of the rich heritage of a people.
By contrast, English lures other languages into dark alleyways, coshes them over the head, and goes riffling through their pockets for vocabulary.
“By contrast, English lures other languages into dark alleyways, coshes them over the head, and goes riffling through their pockets for vocabulary.”
Quite the Brash Bunch!
English has a HUGE vocabulary compared to other languages largely because it borrows words all the time. With the Brits having a world-wide empire it had plenty of opportunities to do so…to say nothing of how much it got from French and Latin before that.
It steals words like “cwm” from its neighbors, and words like “khaki” and “ketchup” from further afield.
So “cwm” just might be Welsh as I surmised when you dropped that perfect alphabetical sentence?
definitely Welsh
Possession is nine points of the law. It’s English now.
Well isn’t Wales part of the “United” Kingdom, whether they want to be or not…or wait is that Scotland, or Ireland? AND logic perhaps?
Absolutely makes sense 🙂
Many, many languages in all sorts of different families arbitrarily group their nouns in categories that resemble genders; linguists are starting to think of them as “classes” especially since they often don’t correlate in such a way that actual males all end up in one class and actual females end up in another. And in some cases there are half a dozen or more classes, totally arbitrary. In others, there’s classes the roughly correspond to the shape of the object.
In Spanish, most fruits and furniture are female, where most animals are male (unless there is a separate word for females — e.g. “vaca” is a cow where “toro” is a bull).
“In Spanish, most fruits and furniture are female,”
____________
What about nuts?
they’re democrats
Boom!
That’s in English.
Please forgive me if my immediate recollection does not extend to Spanish nuts…..
The French word for penis is actually feminine grammatical gender…when you figure nothing could be more masculine than THAT.
No wonder Frenchmen are so effete – their willies are emotional.
😂
Weeeel, some dicks Are chicks, & some “chicks” have dicks, fwiw 😉 😉
I thought that gender, as a construct, was Only applicable to language. Whereas Sex was applicable to biological organisms. The leftist psychosis wants to eliminate the concept of biological sex (“assigned” at birth–LOL, vs Designed at Conception) & replace it with whatever one’s Feelings might be about their sexuality/sex organs/sexual expression. It seems what they absolutely Don’t Want is clear Males & Females who are comfortable in their biological reality & functioning within God’s design parameters.
That they are coopting language & trying to force the rest of us to go along with their Literal Insanity is outrageous. Someone up for the Supreme Court can’t define what a “woman” is because men can be “women” based on their feelings & gets “approved”. 😡
Trying to extend this psychosis to languages w/ gender (nothing to do w/ biological reality) distinctions is just another way to assault humanity & attempt to force us to conform to their delusions.
At least some of those gendered languages & cultures still have the concept of machismo built in, which I would Hope makes it less likely for speakers to even pretend to go along with “Latinx” & other similar crapola
As Steve points out, languages have somewhat arbitrary distinctions that have, in many cases, been strongly linked with ‘male’ and ‘female’. It is not difficult, however, to imagine a language where nouns are divided into “earth”, “air”, “fire”, and “water”…..and where males are generally “water” and females generally “earth”, but where they say a table is an “earth” thing without saying it is feminine.
In such a situation, the whole argument of being “misgendered” starts to look as ridiculous as it actually is. Some young snot wakes up some morning and says, “I want to be air!”, and demands everyone use air language because that is the only way to be free….
Some
youryoung snot can choose to believe whatever their delusions want, what they don’t get to do is dictate that the rest of us must go along with their delusions!“It is not difficult, however, to imagine a language where nouns are divided into “earth”, “air”, “fire”, and “water””

Or change ‘air’ to ‘wind’ and you have a soul, R&B, and funk group 👍
Here is a language with classes instead of genders. They work the same way–you have to make sure your pronouns, verbs and adjectives agree with them:
The language is Swahili, and it’s anything but an obscure language; it’s a lingua franca in large parts of Africa. And usually a lingua franca has been simplified so non-native speakers can learn it more easily. Keep in mind that this is simplified compared to other Bantu languages as you read the following:
(from wikipedia)
There are a total of sixteen classes in Swahili and the full list is at the wikipedia article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swahili_language). Very few of them have any relation to dangly vs. lumpy biology.
I suspect that “gendered” languages are really just a special case of these classes. It just so happened that actual male things ended up in one class and female things ended up in a different class, so one class was labeled “masculine” and the other “feminine” and the classes got associated with the sexes.
That would at least explain oddities like young girls in German being grammatically neuter no matter how obviously female they are, and penis in French ending up as a feminine noun. They just didn’t happen to end up in the same class as the other female or male things, respectively, way back when.
Young girls are neuter in German because their names are diminuitives from old ladies. Die Frau becomes das Fräulein; Die Magd becomes das mädchen.
I do note, however, that the frustration of finding all of the young neutered girls by fighting-age men may have contributed to two World Wars.
I must protest, how about “dangly vs.
lumpy(theoretically) Curvy biology” 😍 I knew someone from Africa, I think Kenya, w/ the last name Mwobobia, iirc, clearly a human surname 😉
I had a teaching assistant teach a class I was in, his name was, I Kid You Not: Issa Mahboobi. Issa (Arabic version of Jesus) is pronounced “EE-sah” so his name sounded like something a woman might say when she noticed a peeping Tom.
LOL My dad had a college professor, Dr. Butt, who named his kids Iva & Harry. I bet they All loved the Boy Named Sue song 😉
I propose we put Cthulhu and Steve in charge of responses to anyone demanding pronoun compliance. Drag such pronounists into a deep linguistics discussion until they beg to be set free.
I have often suggested breaking their system.
If someone wants to know my pronouns, I create a pair with a consonant sound that doesn’t exist in English.
Then I get bent out of shape when they inevitably butcher the sound.
😂
Bwah ha ha!
And if the reference is to a group of both men and women, then even if there are a thousand billion women and only one (very, very lucky) man, the gender is masculine for the entire group.
Go figure.
My female Spanish teacher was very insistent about that, without even a hint of feminist angst. This was back when doing things properly actually mattered 👍
I can still hear her voice… Escuchen y repitan! 😁
“And if the reference is to a group of both men and women, then even if there are a thousand billion women and only one (very, very lucky) man, the gender is masculine for the entire group.”
That seems like how the Bible described things too. If I recall correctly there is a passage of either Jesus feeds the 5000 or Jesus feeds the 4000 where the number is clarified to be 4000 or 5000 men “besides women and children”…In my younger, more feminist days, that kind of stuff used to actually bug me 🙂
I know it’s not Exactly what you’re referring to, just a stream of consciousness connection LOL
There are times when the original language actually is gender neutral–in other words it’s not specified–and the NRSV took heat for trying to preserve that in translation. (Contrary to popular rumor the NRSV did NOT gender-neutralize God.)
Interesting–TY. I’m not much familiar w/ the RSV or the NRSV having grown up w/ the KJV & then later mostly adopting the NIV for personal usage.
Unfortunately it’s getting hard to find the NRSV online now; there’s a newer version (yes, newer than “New” Revised Standard Version) and that seems to be taking over all of the sites that have multiple bible translations.
Here’s what I see at Bible Gateway for Genesis 1:1 in various RSV versions:
NRSVA
In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth,
NRSVACE
In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth,
NRSVCE
In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth,
NRSVUE
When God began to create the heavens and the earth,
RSV
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
RSVCE
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
& those versions in the order presented above:

Are Any of those the same thing as the NRSV?
https://www.biblegateway.com/verse/en/Genesis%201:1
The above link claims to be All English versions…
Yeah that’s weird. I am not sure what “Anglicised” means unless it’s trying to use British English instead of American English.
And you make my point. The NRSV seems to be disappearing, you couldn’t even find it.
RSV is the predecessor to the NRSV (sort of like NIV is the predecessor of TNIV). NRSVUE is in turn the successor to the NRSV. The RSV was a revision of the AMerican Standard Version which was itself a revision of the KJV (These considerably updated the language and willing to make big changes if the then-known body of manuscripts [much larger than in the early 1600s] supported that.)
(Helpful video here (I may have pointed you to it in the past but it’s worth another watch): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zvre1MNat-8)
The Catholic Edition should just be the regular NRSV with the additional OT books that the Catholic church recognizes as canon that Protestants do not. There’s even an edition with over eighty books in it. I don’t think it has different phrasing anywhere that both have in common, though I could be wrong. [The first place I’d look is the third commandment, if I ever had them side by side.]
Graven images perhaps? LOL
That’s why I’d check that one first to see if there is a difference (besides additional books not considered canonical by Protestants). There may be better choices as far as looking for differences; I don’t know.
One of the verses DP shared in an opener had to do with the 3 Hebrews in the fiery furnace. She “only” uses the Douhey Rheims (spelling butchered there) version approved for Catholics, iirc. Something in her verse struck me as odd so I went to Bible Gateway to check it against versions more familiar to me. Well there was a whole passage, like half a chapter, that Only existed in some Catholic & Jewish Bibles, surprisingly, at least to me!
“Anglicised” Could mean approved for use in the Church of England, & then perhaps the Episcopalian Church…just guessing here, of course…
The RSV came out just before the Dead Sea Scrolls were made available to scholars, so the NRSV’s biggest improvement was to actually consider the Dead Sea Scrolls.
Contrary to a popular…well I won’t mince words…contrary to a popular lie told by some professional apologists…there are numerous differences between the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Masoretic text though very few of them affect doctrine.
Very interesting. Is there a link to that info to read more deeply?
You can buy this book:
though you might want to look for it on e-bay given that Amazon hates us.
TY Steve 🙂
You can flip through this and footnotes will highlight differences between the dead sea scrolls, the septuagint, and the Masoretic text (which is except for the DSS the oldest Hebrew version of the OT). The sheer quantity of such footnotes makes a liar out of Eric Metaxas, the self-proclaimed foremost authority, who claims that there were no differences (and some people here have said the same thing, likely relying on him).
Appreciate the info 🙂
Weird now instead of that book image you shared I see the one minute video w/ DJT & Johnson on the cover…hmmm
Had a browser update lately? It sounds like your browser cache is verklempt.
I have no idea…
Hey Cthulhu, didn’t you “recently” recommend a free word processing system? I can’t recall what that was if you don’t mind refreshing the memory here 🙂
If he doesn’t see this, I will guess that he was talking about LibreOffice. It’s actually the big Linux alternative but they do have one that will run on Windows.
LibreOffice will read Micro$haft Orifice format files (including much older versions like Orifice 2003, which I still use), and can save in that format as well.
That’s good to know. This laptop Hubby got me (as thanks for helping him through trucking school & major job transitions) comes preloaded w/ Micro$shaft (TM You!) stuff but you have to pay to use it, which is bull crap to me. I despise Bill Gates of Hell for so many things.
I almost always save docs as .rtf so that they can be read by more programs than the proprietary .doc items can be, if I understand correctly…
Yeah that’s their new thing…Orifice365, you have to rent it. At least older versions you could buy and use forever.
Libreoffice works; I do use it.
TY Steve! If I “need” the $haft I can access it for free on the library computers 🙂
You won’t need it.
Not that $haft 😉 😉
If you’re using LibreOffice, then as Cthulhu says you won’t need M$ Orifice.
If someone sends you a word document (or excel spreasheet) as an attachment, you can open it with LibreOffice. If you want to send something *back* to them, just be sure to have LibreOffice save it in M$ Turd format, or they won’t be able to read it (unless, of course, they’re using Libre Office).
TY!
I think if I’m at the library to access Ancestry I’ll need to use their programs to save stuff onto my flash drive. I think their programs are all MS…fwiw…
https://alternativeto.net/software/ancestry/?license=opensource
https://opensource.com/life/15/12/open-source-family-tree-genealogy
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_genealogy_software
TY, I chose Ancestris from your first link before, but have to do a lot of work to get myself oriented on it & unfortunately my “family tree” on FamilySearch.org is not portable & the one I did on Ancestry I have to search access codes for to see if it Might be portable. I shot myself in the foot being so intent on attaching as many documents as I could to it while I still had subscription access a few years back that I didn’t pay attention to other features. There’s always some type of learning curve to overcome.
Ancestry Library Edition is the access point, for free, to Ancestry.com so that I can look for family history documents & connections from their vast collections. If I save finds to a flash drive then I can use stuff elsewhere so that’s what I’m referring to in using the library’s word processing programs.
Linux has a tendency to read and write anything. It comes from the essential design fundamentals of UNIX, in which everything is a file.
And let’s face it, it’s not as popular as MS Orifice and whatever Crapple uses, so it has to be able to read those formats or Linux people who communicate with the rest of the world would be at a disadvantage.
makes sense
TY Cthulhu. It seems there was some type of illustration about the “genealogy” of computer languages that had A Lot of stuff branching off of UNIX, iirc…
This isn’t necessarily the one I was thinking of but the color coding makes it perhaps more easily comprehensible:
many options here:
https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=computer+language+family+tree&qs=SC&form=QBIR&sp=2&ghc=1&lq=0&pq=computler+language+famili&sk=SC1&sc=4-25&cvid=95BC2F7934AA4E06A8A2795878219CD8&first=1
Heh. The one you liked is actually pretty esoteric.
Normally, you see languages starting with ForTran, Algol, and COBOL.
Operating systems start with Multics/Unix.
There’s a nice one for distros, but that’s really another topic.
I couldn’t actually read it, as it was so small. Honestly I’d want one that even includes BASIC & if anything else was back then too like Pascal (pulling from the few languages I recall hearing about back in the day) 🙂
Well, you are talking about two different things. Linux is an *operating system* not a programming language. BASIC is a programming language.
I never took a computer class so quickly get over my head in this arena 🙂
Not to worry, you can always come here and listen to everyone argue.
I read along but don’t Fully comprehend what you tech guys eat, sleep, & breath!
“you are talking about two different things” as a female I reserve the “right” to do so & to confuse any males brave enough to attempt to untangle it all LOL
BASIC came from ForTran and Pascal came from Algol — these are all programming languages.
another topic indeed. A very, very hairy one.
TBH I don’t see the point to a lot of distros, but a few are sufficiently distinct in concept that I understand them, like Tails and Gentoo, and Qubes of course, but that’s not really a distro in the usual sense. Qubes comes with Debian and Fedora templates for VMs (though dom0 must be Fedoran). Debian and Fedora aren’t meaningfully different…lots of details of course but there’s no real thing that makes one better than the other. I prefer Debian but that’s just because that’s what I am most familiar with from my time with Ubuntu–which is an offshoot of Debian.
Anyhow a huge, mangy topic, and TBH I think most distros were answers to questions only one person was asking.
The whole point of distros is curation. Since the world of projects isn’t all that huge, you’ll get a lot of functional overlap, so the main points of contention tend to be aesthetic.
One of the big differences is the distro’s attitude towards upstream packages.
With Arch, they get an updated known package from a developer and try it. If it doesn’t obviously break things, they’ll put it in their rolling update — if it does obviously break things, they’ll shove it back to the developer to fix.
With Debian, they get an updated known package from a developer and try it. If it’s a security update, they’ll try it out in their current release — if it doesn’t break things, they’ll roll it out to the release (possibly as a patch). If it’s a security update and does break things, they’ll try to fix it in a self-developed patch. If it’s a upgrade update, and it doesn’t break things, they’ll tentatively include it in their NEXT release.
Ubuntu is much like Debian, except they recompile everything using their favorite compiler flags…..and sometimes fix things along the way. That’s why a package that is 5.3.18-ubuntu2.2 might be more akin to the Debian package 5.8.12 than it is to Debian 5.3.18.
Fedora is supposed to be the free version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (which is not free), and CentOS used to be the free clone of RHEL. Since RH took over CentOS and murdered it, the development status has become decidedly more opaque.
I just opened the image in another tab to enlarge it & it’s not what I was thinking of at all…oops!
This one is more related to languages as discussed with Steve
& here’s a basic computer one:
It looks like Finnish didn’t make that language list LOL
Well, the computer one is almost right, if woefully incomplete.
ForTran, Algol, COBOL, and LISP were all developed in the 1950s, using mostly DARPA funds. Pretty much every other language is in large part derived from one or more of these “progenitors”.
DARPA, so there is some type of built in back door government intrusion in Every Kind of computer language???
Oops this is more the clip I meant:
Computer languages are pretty safe because of the way they’re designed.
Processors, on the other hand…..
Hope you’re right 🙂
No, you don’t.
If the processor is compromised, it doesn’t matter what the computer language says.
Well there I go again not knowing what I’m talking about…oops. I Want the government out of All of it but that’s probably never going to happen…I would guess…
Oh, by the way, if you want something like a free Photoshop, there’s https://www.gimp.org/ .
TY! So much to explore, so little time!
LibreOffice — https://www.libreoffice.org/
Recommended for all platforms.
I’ve been recommending it since BEFORE I changed over to Linux in 2015.
I guessed correctly…
TY, Steve mentioned it too, as thinking it was what you rec’d, but perhaps he Also Agrees with you?
Well as you can see Cthulhu and I are of one mind on LibreOffice.
I too used it before switching to Linux. When M$ went to the never-to-be-sufficiently-damned “ribbon” I refused to make that upgrade, so I started having to use LibreOffice to be able to open files people sent me. Stuff I do for myself, I did with M$ Orifice 2003. Of course now I’m on Linux almost completely, but I still save in the M$ Orifice 2003 format out of habit.
….and when I save in M$ format, I use Orifice 1997 because I’m a curmudgeon.
That website makes me wish I had the knowledge to contribute in the ongoing development. Similarly there is a collaborative genealogy program, I have yet to fully dive into, that takes a collaborative approach to its development & improvement. Seems pretty cool to me!
So I reloaded the page again & now I see your book rec rather than that video
I hate having to reload the page, because comments I clocked on when I read them often become yellow again; I have to scroll through the whole thing and click on them again, otherwise clicking on the orange dot (when it goes orange again) sends me to something I read hours ago, not the new comment.
On the other hand, I have to do so sometimes. If I reply in the notifier, my reply doesn’t show up on the page (until I reload); if someone replies to that, then the notifier freezes up when I hit the orange dot to go to the next “yellow” comment.
Sigh, it is a bit of a pain, but Wolf’s yellow for unread is still quite a treat compared to some of the sister trees that reload the page every time you hit the comment button…
Agree. THAT is really, really irritating when there is an autoplay video.
I tend to “like” most comments so that I can easily scroll by stuff I’ve already read when the “thumbs up” is green. It just simplifies the process & I Actually Like Most of what’s said here too 😍
You’re in for a treat with the Complete Jewish Bible.
I’ll have to look into that! TY
Here it is in parallel with the NIV for Genesis 1:1-2

La-tinks 😂
😂
it was her campaign promise. if she wants to be vp or president some day, she must prove to her handlers that she can deliver on those promises.
How these actions can be perceived as even Remotely legal is well beyond me! 😡
Innocent until Proven guilty is the opposite of promising to “get” Trump, however she said it back in her campaigning days. Being bound by the Constitution is just so passé for the Demoncrats…
my guess is that’s why they want him convicted, arrested and not President because i believe a fair DOJ would look at malicious prosecutions across the board in leftist states.
“a fair DOJ would look at malicious prosecutions across the board in leftist states” it would be amazing if we ever encounter such a unicorn!
This could get really fun, if we can get every media appearance to say, “Alvin ‘porn star blackmail’ Bragg”.
Probably will bounce right off of him — if he had any shame, he wouldn’t have concocted this mess in the first place — but it drags the entire lawfare squad down into the mire.
Or just brand him with creepy porn lawyer.
It worked great on Avenatti.
If you search “creepy porn lawyer”, Michael Avenatti’s Wiki page is the first search result 🤣
And they say we’re a fringe minority group … 😂
The guy who torched himself outside the Manhattan Trump farce has died.

Hope he got his tortured soul right with the Lord before he met his Maker. Pointless, painful passing 😠
Kinda gives “trial by fire” a more literal meaning …
Yikes!
SIL last night deadpan said Burning Man wasn’t in Nevada this year.
😅
Wicked sense of humor runs in the family 😉
That it does. But dear SIL is in a league of one.
What a special blessing for your family!
Ok…when I;m wrong I’ll admit it. It wasn’t a stuntman stunt.
You had a healthy skepticism & were looking for proof, which isn’t wrong, per se 🙂
I never trust anything that antifa or excuse me anarco commies do.
Nor how their actions are characterized/excused by media/politicos 😡
Given the length and depth of the ongoing pain he needlessly brought on himself, death seems merciful.
I’ll take ‘goat banging’ for $400, Alex.
I’ll take ‘underage goat banging’ for $1000!
good golly! don’t tell me there’s a legal age for that???
Lol! I’ll be the goats think the legal age should be NEVER!
for the bang-er or the bang-ee?

Steve: just coincidentally, a few days after your RINO post, a commentor at Anonymous Conservative posted a similar personal experience of his own (I forget the state). As with you, his bottom line was that people CAN defeat the Deep State at certain electoral choke points.
In reply, I noted that you had made a similar point, and put the link to your post in my reply. I know AC does not have many views, but I wondered if anyone from AC visited your post.
I have a cynical view of what is happening generally and what can be done about it, but giving up any potential success is not part of that view.
My wife and I voted for Trump in the NY primary despite the fact that Trump was going to win the primary and will lose the election in NY regardless of what we did. But our widow’s mite of a vote, we thought, at least added to a show of support.
I try to avoid handing out black pills at this point because 1) I am just speculating like everyone else, and 2) the black pill pov helps create discouragement, a bad thing for our side.
Unfortunately, our side has labeled both the trivial and untruthful as “bombshells” for so long, very little positive stands out, or is worth looking into.
Your raise a ruckus post was factual and extremely helpful, as well as encouraging. It certainly surpassed many thousands of insulting “bombshell” stories which seem to swarm our side like annoying drones.
I wish I could upvote your comment more than once! 😍
Me too 🙂
You have a Bannon’s Warroom attitude. Nothing fazes that guy.
👍
Random note, for weeks, or possibly months, I have been unable to post images to Gab. I could copy/paste them into the Gab box & when fully loaded c/p the “image address” here to have images show on the Q-Tree (& elsewhere) but when I’d click the green post button at Gab it would say there was nothing to post. Just yesterday I’ve been able to post images there again. I have No Idea what made the difference, so hmmm…
At Facebook, I can upload a picture in a reply to a private message. Then I also have to write some text to go with it before it will let me post. Perhaps Gab is the same?
Well it didn’t use to be that way. It would allow just posting an image, or even up to 8 images. Just now it was doing the weird thing of not accepting just an image again…sigh…
Thankfully This Time it corrected with a reload there, though it didn’t numerous times previously…
If those are Real he must have a serious problem w/ balance or something? At least the Doctor isn’t wearing the upholstery or the drapes 😂
i don’t remember the exact issue–i think it’s because he’s tripping and walks with a stiff gait. it’s to give him stability.
but look at her hands. fingers nearly straight and stiff…she’s not at ease…looks like she’s holding in a fart? LOL or she’s smelling one!
Bye-Dung dropped a load
The sign mentions Easter, so perhaps she’s trying to drop an egg.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…
you made my day Barb!
Briben let loose a really, really wet one.
Those are Walmart shoes. I’ve got a pair just like ’em.
Who wore them better? 😉
Don’t talk to me like that! 😆
😂
I’ve fallen & I can’t get up!
That Photoshop job is terrible!
Here is the original photo:
Looks like there are pieces of paper/tape? to show the Bye-Done’s where to stand 🙄
That would not surprise me at all!
Bye-Done’s hand reminds me of this
Lol.
I like the photo shopped pic better 😂
Lol. I, too enjoy clown shoes!
Yes they are funny. ::)
You’re right. Look at the reflection of the shoes on the wet stone.
I could tell straight off it was fake. I just found the original to prove it.
How many valets help FJB put on his clothes and shoes?
Are they valets when they’re putting clothes on a poseable manikin? (Wordpus flags both “posable” and “poseable”, apparently both are correct but posable is more common.
Lol. Home care nurses.
There’s an art museum in Denver that reminds me of that.
(not the right angle).
The inside of this is so chaotic that apparently people can get vertigo.
There should be a book titled “Inside Joe’s Brain: the Art of Wasted Spaces”

https://mytruthnews.com/what-we-know-so-far-about-the-7-jurors-selected-for-trumps-hush-money-trial/
The foreperson — or leader of the jury — is married, lives in West Harlem, works in sales and is originally from Ireland. How can the jury “foreperson” already be decided when all the jurors & alternates haven’t been selected? I thought juries designated the foreman themselves. How can a Foreigner preside over the deliberations determining guilt of a US President(ial Candidate)? It all is outrageous & I would guess/hope unconstitutional, not that the Constitution figures into Any Dem equations 😡
finding this in the item linked below makes me wonder if the “foreperson” has been dismissed?
Citing the juror’s stated concern about being identified, Justice Merchan told or asked the press not to report the name of juror’s current or past employers nor, in his example, if they have a strong Irish (or presumably other) accent.
To Inner City Press, this is far too vague. The idea is that the judge does not want any reporting that could identify a prospective juror, even if it is said in open court.
So when late morning a juror said his father was good friends with a major politician in his home state, naming both, could or should that be reported?
https://matthewrussellleeicp.substack.com/p/extra-in-trump-trial-2-of-7-jurors
more from another post
Based on one juror’s complaint, Justice Merchan admonished the Press to not report where people worked, nor if they had (just for example) a strong Irish accent.
Did this mean to not report that one prospective juror came from Venezuela, and has a position on the Hispanic National Bar Foundation?
Or that another, from Nevada, said his father was good friends with Harry Reid? Later there was a Hakeem Jeffries shout out and some asked, What was the difference? What indeed.
One juror that didn’t make it – so now it could be told – was a law clerk at SDNY, and an intern in EDNY. She had discussed Mark Pomerantz’ book with her co-worker, she said.
https://matthewrussellleeicp.substack.com/p/extra-as-trump-jury-gets-to-12-dark
That’s the very thing that was in my mind the other day. How was the foreman chosen before the jury was.???
Maybe PGroup could enlighten us here 🙂
It says the juror is from Ireland, not that they haven’t been naturalized.
Yet everyone here except singingsoul is assuming this is a foreigner.
WTF??
YSM is doing its best to imply he’s a foreigner so dumbos will run with it and embarrass themselves. Just like that dumb item of ‘he’s checking the time at Dover AFB’ when he really was checking the name of the next family to get his condolences on his smartwatch.
Either somebody didn’t bother to consider the optics or it was somebody who thought it would be funny to light up the MAGA crowd.
The Left likes to use this against us.
They manage to conflate a legal immigrant (either naturalized or a resident who might be working towards citizenship) with an illegal border jumper to get many naturalized people to assume the Republicans are anti-immigrant. And our own failure to make explicit the distinction often enables this.
I’ve picked on Vera Ortagnon (RINO RNC member recently kicked out) a lot, BUT she did go through the process properly. In her very thick Colombian accent she told of her emotions on the day she was naturalized, a very moving tale, and I hear from a lot of places that this is a very big day for people who do it. I have no doubt she meant it all sincerely. My problem with her is her atrocious political judgment not her patriotism. (And it didn’t help that the very first words out of her mouth were “I’m a Hispanic…”)
Being From Ireland doesn’t indicate one way or another. If this person Also has an Irish accent (which has been mentioned multiple times in the Jury reporting at that Substack) then they likely (largely) lived there until at least age 12. This would mean some degree of steeped in Irish culture, not necessarily American. They May be a grateful, largely assimilated, naturalized American OR they may not.
I believe that jurors are summoned from voter rolls & those should only contain legal voters. The guy whose substack I’ve quoted from had reported of a Felon who had been summoned & was dismissed from the jury potentials. From the way this was discussed it was implied that he should Never have even been considered (presumably Felons can’t vote in NY). So are illegals &/or non-naturalized foreigners also being summoned even though they Shouldn’t be allowed to vote or serve?
i think the judge assigned the duty to the first juror seated. (iirc)
I looked it up. It’s true that the judge can appoint or jury can choose.
TY Molly!
Wow, why would a judge assign an Irish person to sit in judgement of a US President(ial Candidate)? The whole trial is bizzarro world!
The Irish could be a naturalized citizen who has all the rights as any other citizen?
Wow someone finally didn’t leap to the conclusion that the juror wasn’t a US citizen!!!
Thank you!!!
If the guy is longer than 7 years in the country he most likely is a naturalized citizen . Of course if he brings his ideology from where he grew up could be a problem. I am speculating he could have been born here. My husband had a German accent even though he was born here.
See I never fit into Germany and US was a perfect fit for me 🙂
100% Plenty of naturalized Americans are More pro-America & freedom oriented than many homegrown citizens. You lead the way in showing us how that might be!
True 🙂
That seems Very Strange? I thought the foreman was supposed to have leadership skills & some degree of common sense…
in NYC?
bwahahahahahahahaha
I can dream can’t I LOL
Are Irish liberal?
Probably depends on Many Things, just like for Americans 🙂
Yes I never ask 🙂
Verse of the Day for Saturday, April 20, 2024
✟
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
Galatians 2:20 (KJV)
Thank You, Jesus, for blessings received and prayers answered !!!
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
THE SPECIAL PLACE
Weary of the world travails and troubles
With each day that passes the trial doubles
What must we do when life gets in the way
We go to our Special Place and we pray
The only peaceful place in His Presence
His Holy Word wherein lies His essence
To Him we come to refresh and renew
From the hardships that dost daily accrue
We trust in His love to see us through
What He has decreed and brought us to
We can do nothing aside from His care
Without Him we would be going nowhere
In the busyness of our daily routine
We have little time to stop and come clean
Our prayers are hurried and incomplete
Our growth in grace is oft bittersweet
We need to break free of the vicious trap
The enemy squeezes into the gap
Despite our armor and our daily prep
The enemy pursues at ev’ry step
He will not retreat til we demand it
By the power in us we command it
Greater is He that is within us than
He in the world who is lower than man
When life makes no sense we must retreat
When burdens are heavy and we are beat
There’s only one place where God can be found
It is that Special Place you keep around

Judicial Watch: Biden Justice Dept Asks Court to Keep Secret the Names of Top Staff of Anti-Trump Special Counsel Jack Smith—Cites ‘Dearth of FOIA Public Interest’ | Judicial Watch
(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced today that the U.S. Department of Justice is asking a federal court to allow the agency to keep secret the names of top staffers working in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s office that is targeting former President Donald Trump and other Americans.
Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit in May 2023 after the Justice Department rejected a December 9, 2022, FOIA request for ”staff rosters, phone lists, or similar records depicting all employees hired by or detailed to office of Special Counsel Jack Smith” (Judicial Watch Inc. v U.S. Department of Justice (No. 1:23-cv-01485)).
After months of delay, the Biden Justice Department finally acknowledged on April 12, 2023, that it possessed two staff rosters responsive to Judicial Watch’s request, but, citing a supposed “dearth of FOIA public interest,” was withholding the rosters under privacy and law enforcement exemptions. Judicial Watch explained in its motion that it was only seeking the names of top-level staffers – those at the GS-14 level and above – and did not seek email addresses or phone numbers.
At some point, I wonder if a future Congress will declassify all government information and open up the whole thing to the citizens who have paid for it to be accumulated.
@ScottAdamsSays
If I correctly understand our system of government, when a president or leader in the Congress gets into office, someone in the CIA pulls them aside for “the talk” and completely changes their priorities. The public is then told the leaders now have secret knowledge the public can never know. But the leader has no way of knowing the “secret” information is true and in context. That puts the secret-keepers in firm control of the government’s big decisions. If the secret-keepers agree with a government policy, they stay out of it. If they disagree with a policy, they say the UFOs will attack — or some other unverifiable thing — and by the way, we have recordings of every phone call you ever made, and scare the leaders into compliance. Right in front of us. None of this is secret.
So does this apply to DJT?
Probably and he said🖕

Hopefully DJT is smart enough to spot that scam from a thousand miles away.
Bush Jr. would have swallowed it whole and asked for more.
Hussein took all of the See-eye-A’s ideas and turned them up to ’11’, as part of his mission to destroy.
And the President can declassify anything. Trump needs to do this continuously. No more chop chain with all the Intel screws.
“And the President can declassify anything.”
_____________
Yes, but he can’t seem to get ANYTHING that he declassifies actually released to the public.
What good is declassifying anything, if he never follows up to make sure the people under him actually publish the information?
It’s always a tease.

Weird for so many dems are Jews…hmmm…
That is true but many American Jews are Jews in name only and are not religious or practicing Jews. There no different than Christians who never grew up in church but were baptized . When I lived in NYC I met many Jews who had left and were not religious and were communists.
So true, singingsoul. There are 4 large segments of Jews and many smaller sects within each. There are far more progressive to totally secular Jews than those who actually believe in the God of Israel.
Most religious Jews are conservative and for Israel.
Orthodox & Conservative sects tend to be, as I understand it.
🙂
Thank you, Steve!
As I think about what I can contribute over the next few years, I will reread your post, especially the following statement. My older brother shows signs of not fighting, but hey… he’s 76 years old. So I should do his fight plus mine to make up for him taking a break from confronting full-blown crazy. My older brother can keep the rest of us faithful; straight and steady; happy and sane.
I agree with both of you although I also know that nothing can stop what is coming for different reasons than the devolution crowd think.
The world’s design is perfect with curbs to protect from man’s excesses. Evil always loses in the end. How long it takes is sort of in our hands. It goes better when we are faithful and do it the Lord’s way. To do it requires actions, not believing in some fantasy or hero.
Israel wanted freed from Egypt and terrible slavery. Moses came along at the appointed time and was faithful to the call of the Lord. To be released from bondage required the people to get up and leave the life they knew, endure threats and hardships, stay the course and remain faithful. When God decided they were ready, they were allowed to enter the Promised Land.
Have the MAGA patriots had enough of slavery and bondage? Is PDT our Moses? Time will tell. Sitting around waiting on somebody else to do what is needed will not help it happen faster.
Amen.
Leadership is necessary (even if it’s nothing more than one guy setting an example for others), but so is the work by individuals.
Bullseye! Kudos. 🙂
I can understand and empathize with being tired, especially due to age.
That’s different from being self-deluded into doing nothing.
Perhaps with my brother, he is being more discerning and not spending his time on squirrels and red herrings designed to distract and manipulate us.
Amen to that.

Pfizer to pay $0 in taxes, despite billions in income
Every year, Pfizer sends an army of lobbyists to Washington, D.C., seeking to manipulate the tax code to their benefit.
Jordan Schachtel
It’s Tax Day, which, for most Americans, means it’s time to fork over lots of cash to the feds.
Unless you’re running Pfizer, which is paying a grand total of zero dollars and zero cents in taxes this year. In fact, Pfizer is expecting a hefty refund!
Despite bringing in $58 billion in revenue and billions in net income for 2023, Pfizer is not paying a dime in taxes. Thanks to their scale, size, and taxpayer-funded support system, Pfizer and its peers reap tax benefits that allow for the zeroing out of their tax burden. Such privileges are not afforded to Main Street businesses, highlighting an incredibly unequal tax code that benefits mega corporations at the expense of the average citizen and small businesses.

Bongino interviewed Johnson. https://bongino.com/dan-bongino-grills-speaker-johnson-on-unconstitutional-fisa-reauthorization . Bongino stated that warrentless searches are unconstitutional. From the article:
Johnson responded with a lengthy explanation, essentially arguing that obtaining a warrant takes too long when intelligence agents are attempting to quickly thwart potential acts of terrorism. “You know how it works to get a warrant,” said Johnson. “It takes a long time. You’ve gotta put on a probable cause hearing.”
“Mr. Speaker, it really doesn’t,” said Bongino. “I’m sorry, but it doesn’t. You can get a phone warrant like that in an emergency circumstance… It can happen in minutes. There’s a magistrate on duty for that.”
Bongino buried Johnson with this. Nice, short and revealing.
No, he didn’t. Johnson said that getting a FISA warrant was more time consuming than getting a regular warrant because any classified info would have to be in a SCIF and also includes special judges with security clearances to view it.
Here you go again with the bad but accurate news.
No this is NOT a complaint.
Begs to differ, Bongino simply pointed out it is a matter of a simple phone call to a certified judge, not time consuming in the least, and added it was a simple logistics problem to overcome the petty need that this amounts too vs trashing the rights of millions of citizens that can now be spied on nationwide, 24-7, 365 days a year, at the discretion of FIB.
FISA has been around since 1978. Like anything in government, what once had been contemplated as a good thing to address specific issues, has grown to be a monster that abuses American citizens and their rights guaranteed under law and the Constitution.
Proving once again that America is NOT the land of the free and home of the brave currently.
There can be no secret FISA court and still be a free America because it has been corrupted by traitors and seditionists. Its usefulness to We the People is DEAD. As a result, any elected officials who vote for its retention are traitors or seditionists. They cease to be American citizens in my book and are worthy of penalties as assigned by law.
I will lay out the basis for this in my reboot of Civilized War that will be released soon. There is a law that supersedes all other laws and as a result, all of the lawfare we have seen for decades. America was seeded and born as a result of this law to which I refer.
You said ‘buried’, which I disputed.
I do not recall hearing Bongino respond to Johnson’s SCIF argument; I heard Bongino doubling down on his ‘five minute call’ argument.
I could have missed something but when Johnson said it, I immediately alerted [like a pointer hunting dog] to what Dan was going to say. I was disappointed when he simply doubled down, a tactic I cannot stand.
In any event, the SCIF argument needs more specific authorization circumstances [at the least] rather than blanket reauthorization.
Johnson has likely only seen the Congressional SCIF. I doubt he knows much about their sizes and locations.

This article says it only takes one juror holding out for a Trump acquittal to cause a mistrial.
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/donald-trump-trial-hush-money-stealth-juror-b2531095.html
Both sides, of course, are trying to eliminate jurors who have biases. They are looking at voting records, social media posts, etc. It made me wonder about this site. I don’t consider this to be social media, but would they have access to posts here, or even to the fact that someone posts here?
I would imagine digging down to our level is possible but very unlikely. Very small, almost undetectable because of it’s smallness and doors have to be unlocked. Now if the NSA is part of the search team… I’m sure all of America that omits any sort of electronic signal is out in the open.
I heard on Fox if there is a hung jury the Judge can order another 6 week trial in the Summer.
I’m sure they would try him again. But every delay is an advantage, I think. The closer it gets to the election, the more obvious it is that it’s election interference.
If there is another trail then Trump will not be able to campaign.
He won’t be able to campaign in the normal way, but I know he’ll find a way. Even now he is conducting rallies while on trial. But the fact that he is being hampered from campaigning on weekdays is campaign interference, and you’re correct that it could happen again.
I submit that his impromptu pressers after each day’s hearing are even better than campaign events.
They are forcing MSM to cover them [so they don’t miss anything] and they cost him nothing.
Remember the speech after descending on the escalator. He said we’re going to build a wall … and Mexico is going to pay for it.
This is a variation on that theme: he’s gonna campaign every day and the enemedia is gonna pay for every one.

“And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.
My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.
Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask of us the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God’s work must truly be our own.”
JFK – 1/20/61
The man that said that was willing to pay the ultimate price. His words for America should never die, we should not let them. People need to grow stronger and unafraid of these slime balls. If they think the intel criminals can cause them problems, how much worse will it be for them when they find their neighbors, friends and family members turning on them.
fwiw, at least part of that speech was actually the words of Oliver Wendell Holmes, “And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.”–it was a Major Pet Peeve of my grandpa that JFK didn’t give that proper attribution…
By that logic the WNBA players should have to pay for the privilege.

Trump Media warns Nasdaq of suspected market manipulation
BARE KNUCKLE BRAWLING!!! I love it.
You’re talking about the actual stocks.
I’m going to risk irrelevancy by talking about options instead.
With options, you can either buy or sell the option. The option in turn can be for the holder of the option to buy or sell the stock at such-and-such price. (These are called calls and puts, respectively.) So there are four options: you can sell a call, sell a put, buy a call or buy a put.
If you sell either kind of option, the person you sold it to might actually exercise the option, and demand that you sell him the stock the option is for (if you sold a call)…or demand that you buy his stock (if you sold a put). In the former case, if you don’t actually have the stock in question, that’s a naked position. If he demands you buy, you’d better have the cash on hand to do so.
For example, I could own 100 shares of Dufus, Inc., and sell a call for that stock. If someone exercises the option, I have to sell him my shares of Dufus, Inc.
To make this clear, if Steve didn’t own 100 shares of Dufus, Inc. and sold a call for that stock at $100 and the buyer exercised that option, he would have to “find” 100 shares of Dufus, Inc. to give the buyer for $10,000…….even if it cost Steve $500 per share to get those 100 shares.
Yep. Of course if one is involved in that market, one buys the option back before it goes too far out of whack.
Personally if I were just trading to make some money, I’d only ever buy options. Though I know a guy who had a stock crater on him, and he was able to sell options to make some money back…the stock would go up and down on a fairly regular cycle so he could make money selling options on it.
Back in the day (in the ’80s), I’d buy Apple every time it hit 15 and sell every time it hit 20.
If only I had forgotten that I had some one time…..
And I could have bought bitcoin for a dollar on a lark at one point.
Tattooed woman complains about not getting a job.
She doesn’t just have tattoos; she has Baphomet and occult tattoos. She was told they turned her down not because of the tattoos but because of her lack of experience, so she wonders how inexperienced young people ever get a job. News flash: that is how it has always been. Sometimes they get the job, and sometimes they don’t and they have to work in fast food or other types of entry-level jobs. And the ones that are clean-cut have a much better chance, especially those who don’t flaunt demonic figures.
IMO, this is the type of person who would file a lawsuit if they had told her they objected to the tattoos.
Or the fricking nose ring.
I have to fight not to stare at those when I see them.
Absolutely.
I asked the question on Twitter long ago: “Why do people want to mutilate themselves?” Got lots of feedback. My favorite was “Mom, we’ve talked about this before.” hehehe
I understand the prudence about staying silent about the tattoos but …
being inked up is NOT a protected class. All they have to say is that the company image excludes excessively inked people. Or that they would lose customers if they employed her. Both of these defenses have passed muster in various appellate courts.
Nobody has a right to a particular job. In short — too bad so sad.
There’s also the defense that she would be a distraction to other employees, thus creating a hostile work environment. This one might be harder to prove.
That’s good to know.
We need a list of every person who was holding a Ukraine flag, and they need to be hounded mercilessly about it, for starters. I’d like to see them removed from Congress, but that’s not going to happen.

Yours Truly can now confirm what she wrote in her post on the COVID-19 “vaccines” causing turbo-cancers:
http://www.theqtree.com/2023/11/29/the-covid-19-vaccines-pave-the-way-for-turbo-cancers-and-a-note-on-the-virus-itself/ —
https://vigilantnews.com/post/cancer-doctor-issues-urgent-warning/
19 April 2024
Yours Truly: The Vigilant News article details the urgent warning from Prof. Angus Dalgleish, oncologist at St. George’s, University of London.
Dr. Dalgleish states that it’s the N-1 methylpseudouridine in the modRNA COVID-19 “vaccines” that is the likely genesis for the cancers that the injections induce. (paraphrased)
N-1 methylpseudouridine is a FAKE uridine that was SPECIFICALLY INCLUDED in the modRNA COVID-19 “vaccines” by BOTH Pfizer-BioNTech AND by Moderna.
This FAKE uridine SPECIFICALLY evades the “vaccinated” person’s NATURAL immune system response of “are you a friend or a foe” that the “vaccinated” person’s body immediately starts up when a modRNA COVID-19 “vaccine” is injected into the body.
IN ADDITION, it’s this FAKE uridine that allows the elements of the modRNA COVID-19 “vaccines” to stay in the “vaccinated” person’s body “…for an indefinite period of time, leading to an uncontrolled amount of spike protein production.” (per the article)
Which means that the body of the COVID-19 modRNA “vaccinated” person is a SPIKE PROTEIN FACTORY FOR AN INDEFINITE PERIOD OF TIME.
We’re talking immune system suppression / damage / destruction; the destruction of the crucial CD4 – CD8 immune system cells; the destruction of the crucial IgG3 “fight if off” immune system cells and replacement with IgG4 “tolerate it” cells — ALL OF WHICH CAN PAVE THE WAY FOR THE “VACCINATED” PERSON’S BODY TO CONTRACT CANCER (OR TO “RE-ESTABLISH” PRIOR CANCERS THAT WERE IN REMISSION.
Since this is about the suppression of immunity, I’m wondering if it ties in with those who are dying suddenly from heart or vascular issues, or whether a different mechanism within the vax is causing that.
TheseTruths
IMO, the fake uridine in the modRNA COVID-19 injections are part of the issues regarding the heart and vascular damage that the shots induce. The “vaccines” strip the walls of blood vessels and cause huge numbers of lymphocytes to accumulate in the heart.
That makes sense.
No cause of death is given for her. There are numerous pics in the article, and she looks very fit and healthy in them.
Two more notches on the evil gnome’s gunbelt.

Wash a Cybertruck, It Bricks.
As if the eCar Crap could not get any worse…
It seems that if you run your Tesla Cybertruck through a car wash, it can “brick”. Now I wonder how well it will hold up in things like Rain Storms and / or hurricane escape in a Tropical Storm (even ignoring the insufficient range to get out of Florida from Miami without some recharges…).
Oh, and such “don’t get it wet” failures are not covered by the warrantee…
This is a video from “MGuy”, who does a droll take down of various EV Follies.
BTW, as one of my other favorite EwTube Channels is “Matt’s Off Road Recovery”, I do really wonder when his first attempt to recover a CyberTruck from the beach sand of the lake at Sand Hollow will show how stupid it is to drive a 6600 Pound vehicle onto the soft Utah sand… and how impossible it is to pull it back out with anything light enough that it can drive on the sand and not sink / get stuck.
FWIW, my Ford Expedition is about 6000 lbs with 2 people, full fuel tank, and a mattress strapped to the top (went to the dump with it and they weighed us in and out). It is also a selectable 2 wheel, all wheel, or 4 wheel with auto lockers rig and 4 Captains Chairs plus 3rd row “kids seats” and can make a nice load carry flat area if all that is folded down. Plus the roof rack.

I actually saw one of those on Friday.
stuck in a carwash? 😉
Nope, just waiting at a traffic light as I right-turned onto the interstate.
Ah 🙂
Was trying to edit. It was a LEFT turn, right in front of it.
And you’re now two days behind…
Would that be a LEFT turn, immediately in front of it?
Yes, I wasn’t weaving left then right.
That’s practically being Early in my world…just ask Hubby 😉
I pointed out a Rivian to the Fiancee…..she had no idea…..
I have seen a few of those here.
And you too are now two days out of date.
“Rivian” no clue here either 🙂
It’s the other electric pickup….recently marked down from $60K to $20K.
Holy shit, $20K.
Actually a very good price for a vehicle…assuming it’s not a complete piece of shit. A doubtful assumption given it’s an EV that is not a Tesla.
And will shortly not be repairable, upgradeable, or have any resale value.
Scott’s paying you under the table it would seem 🙃
No, he’s actually got a point when he says Tesla seems to be the only company that can build the things halfway right–and maintain a charging network that isn’t a disaster.
I still don’t want one, but if someone was giving me a choice of EVs for free, I’d go with the Tesla.
Makes sense 🙂
“No, he’s actually got a point…”
____________
Sometimes I do… 😂
😂
LOL fire sale (still on the taxpayer’s unenthusiastic dime) 😯
We can do better.
Coming back over here just to shoot the shit a bit more and push the number over is cheating.
Hey, it’s a testimony to how fun the conversations can be on Your posts!
*snort*
It being my post had nothing to do with it. Yes we ended up in epic convos about Linux this time, but that seems to require just two ingredients, me, Cthulhu and a “straight man” which in this case happened to be you asking questions.
Bwah ha ha
I think Barb implied these discussions could be used as a form of torture elsewhere 😜
YOUR Post is still a key factor Because You are more likely to see & therefore participate in said discussion.
I’ve never been accused of being a man before, though more than one person believes I’ve got Balls! LOL
Standard rule of English; the gender neutral is the masculine. I actually think that’s pretty stupid but it’s what we’re stuck with.
Sadly, this can also be true in relationships….
Men, of the past, wouldn’t put up w/ being called “girls” like most girls put up w/ being called “guys” all the time. Being a Northerner I use “you guys” for groups of whatever sex mix, including all females. My exile in the “South”/OK had lot’s of them, from multiple locations as my college drew people from around the country & the world, using the “y’all” which appears to be neutral, though somewhat annoying if one isn’t into a Southern accent…
“men” nowadays would likely be Thrilled to be placed under the “all girls” verbal umbrella as they’ve been consistently beaten down by toxic feminazis & their soy boi “toys” (like a cat w/ a mouse not a dominatrix w/ a dominatee)…
I really wanted to find an image from STTNG but this is Not the one I’d hoped for…
This is closer:
“There is an old science fiction trope in which characters arrive on a planet where women rule the land, and all men are meek and subservient. It’s a ridiculous and widely derided trope, of course, because it doesn’t really explore or investigate anything. All it really shows is a male fear of female power, based on a faulty premise: the opposite of patriarchal oppression is not matriarchal oppression but rather an absence of oppression at all. The resolution of the story is almost inevitably the realisation that women do need men, and it’s almost always a male character who makes the women realise this.”

There are languages with a gender-neutral pronoun. It basically means “could be a man, could be a woman” and doesn’t imply either.
We end up going with “they” in circumstances like that, e.g., “each student will turn in their test at the end of class”
It’s not like anyone other than you, Cthulhu and TheseTruths actually read anything I write anyway.
That’s not true! There’s also……whatsisname…..
Blog Owner Perhaps…I haven’t checked his Monday offering yet. I hope he actually stops in beyond generating the post…it’s been Quite a While…
He’s been out forever. He still hasn’t moved my two eclipse posts to the science column.
That slacker! We should write a forceful letter.
Slightly concerning but likely still in the realm of what he told us to expect. I miss him & his insights. He didn’t even see the pic of my latest grandbaby, but he was around to expound on my ridiculous cop encounter the day after Easter, as I recall…
Well that’s depressing & I Hope largely untrue 🙁
If so, THAT’s their Major Loss!
If I had to guess, I think that your posts pushed the number over even if you took out those from Valerie and myself.
Nah, it was 380 something last night.
It Showed me 386 before I commented again late on Sunday but then when the comment posted it showed like 395 or something…not that we’re actually keeping track or anything 🙂
Not that I’m counting, mind you…
😉 😉
Another factor could be time zones. Many of us are in the Eastern time zone so if people have a normal schedule, jobs, &/or a real life they might not be online so late at night. Since I have none of the above I can get going conversationally late at night w/ both of you & anyone else willing to play. I was a Night Owl by nature but it’s Way Worse w/ my husband’s crazy schedule in his current job, awakening 3:30am-ish (was 3 am-ish until about a month ago) & leaving 4am-ish (was 3:30am-ish previously) so I Might stay up until he leaves or I might fall asleep & sleep through everything or I might get up to assist him in his morning prep & then stay up online. Basically there is Any Time in the 24 hour cycle when I could theoretically be awake or asleep…sigh…
And OBTW totally absent on this post was Deplorable Pat.
That rat! I bet she doesn’t do anything else on Sundays….
You mean Saturdays…
Them too! Although we’re talking about your post on Sunday night.
What post on Sunday night? Or do you mean the one on raising a ruckus?
And I still don’t get what you’re getting at.
We are here, on Sunday night, talking about your Saturday post.
and ON my Saturday post, where I can’t help but see it since it flags in the notifier.
The fact is she was conspicuously completely absent on Saturday. I just checked she did post a bit on Sunday.
try not to take it personally (she Almost Never replies to anything I say to her Directly) different strokes & all 🙂
fwiw she doesn’t even usually comment Much on her own posts
You beat me to it!!!
