Crush of lawsuits over voting in multiple states creates a shadow war for the 2024 election
The Republican National Committee, newly reconstituted under Trump, has filed election-related lawsuits in nearly half the states. Recent lawsuits over voter roll maintenance in Michigan and Nevada are part of a larger strategy targeting various aspects of voting and election administration.
It’s not a new strategy. But with recent internal changes at the RNC and added pressure from the former president, the legal maneuvering is expected to play an increasingly significant role for the party as Election Day in November approaches. The lawsuits are useful for campaign messaging, fundraising and raising doubts about the validity of the election.
Danielle Alvarez, a senior adviser to the RNC and the Trump campaign, said the lawsuits were one of the organization’s main priorities this year.
“This is something that’s very important to President Trump,” she said. “He has said that this is something the RNC should do year-round.”

Unfortunately the director, James Cameron, has a fetish for revisionism, so when his films eventually make it to 4K (many of them for the first time this year), he has tinkered with them, removed grain, changed color weightings, and generally modernized the appearance.
As with George Lucas and his obsession with changing things in every generation of Star Wars releases, many fans (all those who pay attention and care) want to slap James Cameron straight.
Aliens (1986) and The Abyss (1989) were the two most highly anticipated recent releases, and he futzed with both of them.
They’re better than the old blu-ray (The Abyss didn’t even have a blu-ray release until the new 4K release), but they are less than what they could have (and should have) been.
He has no respect for originality, authenticity or a genuine filmic presentation.
Which also means he has no respect for the people who actually pay to see or own his movies. After a while, that works both ways.
Disappointing about Cameron. I hate when they modify existing material especially editing out “offensive” things. Let the art speak for itself & if “necessary” add some type of “trigger warning” for whining lefties to prepare their liddle selves…
In his case, there was no editing out that I’m aware of, the image just has a slightly videotape appearance to it, instead of a filmic appearance.
Like they remove all the natural film grain, so it looks more like something that was shot on video for TV.
Fortunately, Aliens and The Abyss (and True Lies) are not disasters (like Terminator 2: Judgement Day is), it’s just very disappointing to wait so long for a great film to be restored, knowing the director’s fetish for screwing up the presentation, and then finding out that your concerns were (once again) warranted.
It’s not hard to do it right. You have to work at it, to screw it up.
Terminator 2: Judgement Day (also directed by and ruined by Cameron during the restoration for 4K) is one of the prime examples (and the one that is always mentioned) of ruining a restoration.
The movie has an 8.9 rating out of 10, it deserved the best presentation possible. Fans of the movie (practically everyone who has ever seen it) were not happy about it.
The review at blu-ray.com was kind compared to many:
Jeffrey Kauffman review: “Terminator 2: Judgment Day is presented on 4K UHD courtesy of Lionsgate Films with a 2160p transfer in 2.40:1. Fans have long complained about Terminator 2: Judgment Day‘s previous home video releases, to the point that some are calling this title “cursed”, but it’s interesting to note that my colleague Martin Liebman actually gave the first Blu-ray release a 4.0 video rating, even while he complained that the entire transfer was on the lackluster side (several users who have contributed reviews to the site gave the release much lower marks).
The two biggest issues most videophiles will have with this new release are the near absence of organic looking film grain and some tweaks to the palette that, for example, add a kind of greenish-teal tone to several scenes that never had them before. Some folks in our forum have complained about excessive sharpening as well, but I saw no really outrageous signs of haloing or other phenomena that would suggest overly aggressive digital tweaking in that particular regard.
Now I may raise some hackles with this next statement, but if (and it’s a big, maybe massive, if) you can accept the aforementioned two major changes, especially the lack of grain which now gives the entire presentation the sleek, smooth look of modern digital capture, there is definitely an uptick in detail in the 4K “restoration”. Even with grain scrubbed, elements like the pock marks on Hamilton’s cheek or fabrics of costumes have a decidedly precise and sharp appearance.
When some of the “new, improved” grading techniques aren’t on display, the palette is actually rather nice looking, and some of the intentionally colored scenes (for example, some of the POV “scan” shots from the Terminator’s perspective) pop quite vividly. Fine detail is actually quite good in my estimation in the many outdoor scenes once Sarah has escaped from her “confinement”.
I’m sure some fans think that both the Blu-ray and 4K UHD discs deserve zero scores in the video department, but I’m actually kind of conflicted. This is revisionism, to be sure, and rather peculiar revisionism at that, but from a (hopefully) purely objective standpoint, to my eyes detail levels are in fact improved in the 4K version. For that reason, I’m splitting the difference and giving the 4K video a 2.5, indicating a barely passing grade. (I’ve slightly upped the rating for the 1080p Blu-ray, ironically because the lower resolution doesn’t provide the same clarity in terms of the some of the deficits in grain and changes to the palette.)”

Incidentally, I may have done a 200 foot dive, but only very briefly. If you could breathe from a regular tank for 50 minutes at the surface, that would be 25 minutes at 32 feet, 12.5 minutes at 96 feet, or 6.25 minutes at 160 feet. If you spent more than about 3-4 minutes at 200 feet, you’d run out of air — violating one of the primary rules for safe diving.
And, of course, the longer you dive and the higher the pressure, the more your tissues get loaded with nitrogen — meaning you have to spend time at intermediate pressures to allow the nitrogen to partially release. You might plan a dive to be 5 minutes at 80 feet, then 8 minutes at 50 feet, then ten minutes at 20 feet (this is not calc’d). It is very important to “plan your dive, and dive your plan.” There are special-purpose dive computers to help you monitor your plan, but you still have to plan it in advance.

I think the pool would be a great learning environment, but I prefer nature myself. In addition, the pool would only be good for learning up to a certain level, because it might make you too confident that things don’t go spontaneously wrong.
By contrast, our pool drills would occasionally have dive masters unbuckle your fins, flood your mask, or loosen your BC — and you got to pull yourself back together while underwater.
The three primary rules to SCUBA: (1) Never dive alone; (2) Never hold your breath; and (3) Never, never, never, never, never, never run out of air.
My rule — Stay in the boat esp when it is the St Lawrence or a Finger Lake. (My boy friend at the time was a diver so I got to boat sit.)
The water is too darn COLD! It’s probably why I dislike swimming. Mom signed me up as a 5 yr old for 2 sets of swim lessons during a summer when it never got above 80F

One of the far-left Democrats who orchestrated a failed impeachment campaign against President Trump, and now has been adamant in defense of Joe Biden on impeachment investigation claims of influence peddling and corruption, has been sued for defaming a congressional witness.
The complaint by onetime Hunter Biden business associate Tony Bobulinski was filed against Jamie Raskin, in his individual capacity, in U.S. District Court in Maryland.
The lawsuit seeks $20 million in “compensatory, special and punitive” damages, plus costs, plus any other “relief as the court deems justice.”
Bobulinski, in fact, has testified to Congress investigating Joe Biden for possible impeachment about Biden’se personal involvement in the Biden family’s international business schemes, which critics have called influence peddling, and Congress has confirmed has generated paychecks of tens of millions of dollars.
Raskin repeatedly has tried to undermine the testimony of congressional witnesses who are critical of Biden, and specifically attacked Bobulinski, the filing explains,
“In his February 14, 2024, statement, defendant said that Mr. Bobulinski has been unable to support his claims and accused him of lying, Defendant’s March 6, 2024, post described Mr. Bobulinski as a ‘dubious’ witness. In doing so, defendant intended to convey and imply the defamatory interpretation that it is Mr. Bobulinski was untrustworthy, who lied to Congress. Defendant’s statements left a reasonable reader with the impression that it is really Mr. Bobulinski, who was bought and paid for by the Trump campaign, and therefore, who was lying about the Biden family’s business dealings.”
It continues, “Defendant intentionally created this inference to salvage his political party, and Joseph Biden, to the detriment of Mr. Bobulinski in his patriotic pursuit to expose the truth of the Biden family corruption. The inferences made are defamatory as they lead to hatred, distrust, ridicule, contempt, and/or disgrace for Mr. Bobulinski, and leaves the interpretation that Mr. Bobulinski was untrustworthy and lied to Congress. Indeed, it caused not only a large segment of the nation that despises all things Trump regardless of reality, but also rational and reasonable viewers, not to trust or find credibility with Mr. Bobulinski. Defendant made the statements with malice.”
Among Raskin’s claims was that the witness was a “Ttrump campaign plant and pawn,” and that he “engaged in criminal acts.”
The narrative of the complaint points out Bobulinsk’s successful U.S. military career, in which he was honored with the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
It was after his military career that he got involved eventually in business deals with Hunter Biden.
His testimony is key in that he witnessed Joe Biden’s personal involvement in the family “influence” operations, dealings that Joe Biden has claimed he never knew about.
WND reported earlier when Bobulinski’s lawyers demanded a retraction from Raskin, a demand he ignored.
That letter warned Raskin, “You are not entitled to any immunity for your defamatory statements. The Speech and Debate Clause comes from Article I, Section 6, Clause 1 of the United States Constitution, and it includes, in relevant part: ‘for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.'”
But that only protects activities “undertaken in the House and Senate,” and provides no immunity “beyond its carefully defined scope,” the lawyers warned. “Anything that is not a legislative activity will not be protected.”
The letter warns Raskin, “Your statements are derogatory falsehoods, rendering them legally actionable. Your pattern of maliciously defaming Mr. Bobulinski is well-established and will not be tolerated.”

Defamation cases get dismissed if the plaintiff cannot show a negative impact on his/her life derived from the slander.
Emotional distress is not actionable in a defamation case.

Daughter had outpatient surgery at the hospital yesterday to end the baby making. During the course of it she conversed with a male nurse who had to ask her if she had been jabbed as part of his job duties. She replied firmly to the negative. He smiled and said, “Good!” He said he refused and nearly lost his job, but they had nobody to replace him. He said most of the employees now wish they had not, they are sick a lot and bad stuff is happening to them. He said the hospital is being overrun with jab injured and death lately. He tells everybody to refuse them and management makes no attempt to stop him. Me – probably because their money tree for the jab scam is drying up, they have less qualified applicants for jobs, and they are on to the next scamdemic. Add in the sick and dying from the Covidiocy will be driving the current revenue stream for a good while.
The establishment GOP has benefited from the election cheats as much as the Dems since they are part of the Uniparty system. That is why they do not mind using the same type systems until We the People force them to pull the plugs, at which time they shift to a different cheat method. The only answer is removal of all the players involved within the system by MAGA patriots, including the judiciary that protects them. I admire PDT and supporters for their resolve in tanking this putrid system.

Hubby overheard a conversation w/ my brother & youngest niece, she apparently is interested in a teen, also homeschooled, who still lives at home & is helping his parents renovate their home. Bro said he prefers the young man to have a decent job before marriage but perhaps he should go to college first. In 2012 the April highs ranged from 51F to 86F (five over 80F) we did not see temps over 90F until May2th (91F)
In 2013 the April highs ranged from 45F to 86F (seven over 80F) we did not see temps 90F or over til Jun 12th. (3 days, 90F, 90F, 95F for the entire month of June)
In 2014 the April highs ranged from 52F to 85F we did not see temps over 90F or over til May 15th. One day @ 91F for the entire month.

I would think, given the shape of the ice sheets during the Wisconsin Ice Age, that meridional jets and not necessarily temperature, are indicative of cooling weather at least at the beginning of the switch. Meridonal jets allow the mixing of polar air with moisture laden tropical air. This allows blizzards to dump massive snow amounts on various areas as we saw in the last few years.
Slow spring melting will then allow the ground and lakes to remain cooler heading into summer. For the last three years here in mid North Carolina it has been so cool my white clover has bloomed all summer. The is the first time I have seen the clover not die in the summer in the over 20 years I have lived here. According to Clemson Univ (S.C.) “White clover (Trifolium repens), also known as Dutch clover, is a cool-season perennial… It grows best when temperatures range from 50 to 85 °F.”
Normally we see summer temperatures in the 95 to above 100 °F range but not the last few years.

Stormy Daniels Says She’ll ‘Go to Jail’ or ‘Die’ Before Paying Trump The $670K She Owes.
Pornography peddler Stormy Daniels has claimed she is “fully prepared to go to jail” and “would rather die” before paying President Donald Trump the $670,000 she owes as a result of multiple legal cases she has lost. Her remarks in violation of court orders came in an interview with sexual deviant Jeffrey Toobin on Saturday.
Daniels went as far as to text Toobin, “I’ll wear a dominatrix outfit to court. It’ll make for a festive mugshot,” when asked what she would do if held in contempt of court for refusing to pay.
Critically for Trump’s lawyers, Toobin also admits: “Her debt to Trump—and her refusal to pay it—complicates her usefulness as a witness, because the defense will surely argue that her anger about the debt gives her a motive to lie about the former president. So, as it happens, the story of Daniels’s debt—how it came about and what it means today—may be of considerable importance. In fact, the outcome of the presidential election and the future of American democracy may turn on it.”
Daniels’s debt stems from her hiring of disgraced lawyer and media darling Michael Avenatti, who presented a case against Trump “so weak” that federal judge S. James Otero awarded Trump legal fees of $293,000, and appealing this added $121,000 in further costs.
“With interest and court fees the number now stands at around $670,000,” writes Toobin, who seeks to portray the porn purveyor in a sympathetic light.
But even her former lawyer, Avenatti himself, now says, “[s]he has zero credibility, and she is the most opportunistic person I’ve ever met.”
To this day, Daniels claims to communicate with the dead, including a haunted doll called Susan. Toobin explains that this behavior may cause Daniels problems at the upcoming Manhattan trial, which begins later this month.

We can do a lot of damage with the weapons we have. Think about someone approaching your house to do you harm. They wouldn’t know what kind of firearm you might have pointed at them, whether you have some kind of explosive device, etc. For them to avoid that danger completely, they would have to blow up your house or take some other drastic action. I can’t see them doing that to the whole population. Firearms are a deterrent.

Remember the Chicago Seven trial? Judge Julius Hoffman held the defendants [or some of them] in contempt on multiple charges. He delayed the hearings until the trial was finished. He gave the contemnors up to four years in prison, including attorneys. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals reversed and sent many of the cases back to be tried by a different judge.
All of the contempt charges were for actions done in court in the presence of the judge, which I call direct contempt.
DJT is being charged with indirect contempt which is violation of a court order not in open court. There is precedent from the Chicago 7 case that the trial judge should not be conducting contempt hearings even of actions that took place in court.
Why are DJT’s attorneys allowing this farce without protest?
Since the contempt charges are seeking jail time and/or fines, DJT is entitled to all constitutional protections under the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 14th amendments.
