I think it’s one thing to domesticate animals to help as livestock, and something else to put them into zoos and circuses for entertainment. I imagine those working elephants are well treated and cared for as the valuable asset they are.
It completely depends on the people involved.
The two elephant owners I knew took good care of all their animals. (I bought ponies from them.)
Just like farming you do not really make much money at the business so you are doing it because you love animals and want to work with them.

I just saw one of my mares pull a new trick.
We use flat rubber feed pans about one foot in diameter since we normally feed water soaked hay pellets to my older ponies.
We had the vet coming so I put a 1/4 cup of grain pellets in the pan as a reward for getting caught, haltered and tied.
On other occasions I have seen a pony reach under the neck of a buddy grab the rim of the pan and snatch it away. This pony came up with a new twist on that.
Since the food pellets were scattered in the pan making eating them a one at a time deal, she decided to grab the edge of the pan & shake it so all the pellets were in one area. She did it twice so it was intentional.

It was interesting to watch hospitals expanding their facilities and services during a “pandemic” around here. Some were barely making it before, then boom, they start expanding.
Per reports, they received 20% over the actual, allowable billed expense – supposedly. So as much as the government wanted to pay because the hospitals always over charge and bill even when they are contracted with insurance companies, Medicare/Medicaid, state programs, etc.
Easy for the processing centers to let some non-authorized and/or non-delivered services to be paid at the agreed rate + 20%. How many people ever question and successfully challenge hospital billing services, especially when most or all of the cost is covered by insurance, Medicare, etc.?
Scam – all of it from beginning to end. Following the money always tells us.

A judge can overrule a guilty verdict. It’s called a judgement notwithstanding verdict. But they can’t overrule a not guilty. That’s why jury nullification works.

I noticed a couple of people posting that their insurance company dropped their home and now they can’t find an insurer to take them. My insurance happens to renew in July, so I checked my new paperwork for 2024. On the one hand, I’m happy they did not drop me. On the other, whew, it is expensive but what isn’t? I thought one of the insurers pulled out of California. Has anyone else had trouble getting insurance?

I think that in our country, if a judge acts improperly during the course of a trial, the remedy is to appeal the case. Then a judge can be impeached if he/she has acted improperly. They can also be charged criminally if they have broken the law.
I don’t know what all the ramifications would be if someone had the authority to step in and stop a trial because of the judge. We have the separation of powers between the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches. So Congress can’t stop a trial because of a judge, for example. The DOJ is under the Executive branch, and it doesn’t have the power to stop a trial either.
If other agencies could step in and take action, I think it could open an additional avenue for fraud. Any Congressperson or agency who didn’t like the way a trial was going could bring charges against the judge, whether justified or not. If they possessed that power, the Dems would have already taken action against Judge Cannon and had her removed from the case.
Any defendant, even a guilty one, who didn’t like a judge could file some sort of complaint and affect what would have been a fair trial.
So unfortunately, we are “stuck” with the way things work. Judge Merchan is exposing his bias, the Dems are as well and are looking foolish and criminal, and people are seeing how the Left operates. The defendant in the case suffers through it, but the system works as our founders intended. I can’t think of a different way to navigate this that wouldn’t open us up to even greater fraud.

Apparently, according to this tweet, the corrupt judge DID analogize the Trump charges to burglary wrt no need to prove what exact “crime” Trump was purportedly trying to hide with the false business entry.
It is an absurd application of NY burglary law, even analogously. With burglary, the intent to commit “a” crime is contemporaneous with the illegal entry (trespass) and can be INFERRED from the circumstances of the entry: e.g. middle of the night, forced entry, stranger to the owner, presence of burglar tools, etc
How does one INFER the intent to HIDE a previously committed crime from the circumstances of the false entry? And if the intent was to hide an already committed crime, then that previous crime is susceptible of definitive proof or not.

As I have stated (speculated) previously, it seemed as if the prosecution was based on an entirely absurd purported analogous application of NY burglary law. Also, see above in this thread. Shipwreckedcrew does not get it exactly right, either, but he DOES state what the actual problem is.
The use of the burglary case – – holding that a specific crime does not need to be pleaded or proved in order to obtain a valid indictment or conviction – – is so ridiculous and absurd, it is proof in itself that the prosecution and judge are corrupt.
In NY, you commit a burglary when you trespass with the intent to commit a crime. The intent is contemporaneous with the trespass, and is INFERRED from the circumstances of the entry.
With the Trump charge, the intent is to make a false entry in order to hide a previously committed crime. It is logically impossible to INFER the commission of a previously committed crime from the circumstances of making a false entry. One may suspect, but one cannot logically infer. The previous crime needs to be stated and proved.
The absurdity and evil corruption is different from what the experts are stating. It is worse because it is far more insulting and so obviously connived.
I think we are talking about two different things. The problem with the prosecution’s case are legion, and many pundits have brought up multiple issues. The burglary law is one of them.
What I’m referring to is specifically the judge’s instructions to the jury today, which also have multiple issues. The quote I posted from Turley addresses just one of them, but it is glaring. Many people, including Mark Levin, are commenting on it.

BUT listen, this burglary holding says you do not have to specify a crime; why don’t we use that to say we don’t need to specify a crime in the Trump false business record charges? YAY! No one will ever figure out the utter absurdity, the completely nitwittery of using that case!
Turley and Levine would be making that argument if they knew it. Now they are just floundering without understanding how deeply illogical and ARBITRARY was the “reasoning” for this prosecution. It is not grand and high falutin.

Since the only video of the incident showed Scheffler to be correct in what he stated, we can assume the DA was quite happy Scottie has no intention of suing the city for wrongful arrest. The officer did not activate his camera as he was required to do per department policy and the video does not show him being dragged by Scottie’s car or refusing to stop, which is what the cop said happened. It does show a thug cop playing the big dog and intimidating a professional golfer. Which is why Scottie said the city would either drop the charges or they would go to trial because he was innocent.
The awful part is he was contending for a major, one of the only four they have each year and it was the weekend after his first child was born.
