Ingredients
- 2 ounces rum, divided
- 1 cup strawberries, chopped
- 1 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
- 1/2 ounce simple syrup
- 2 ounces cream of coconut
- 2 ounces pineapple juice
- Garnish: pineapple slice
Steps
- In a blender, add 1 ounce of the rum, strawberries, lime juice, simple syrup and 1 cup crushed ice and blend until smooth.
- Pour into a hurricane glass and set in the freezer.
- Wash and dry the blender thoroughly.
- In the clean blender jar, add the remaining 1 ounce of rum, cream of coconut, pineapple juice and 1 cup crushed ice and blend until smooth.
- Pour into the hurricane glass that already contains the Strawberry Daiquiri, creating a layered effect.
- Garnish with a pineapple slice.

Uh oh. I’ll have to ask him about it when he gets home…hmmm. At that time of day there is clearly very little traffic at least, probably about 5:30-6am, fwiw…
He just called so that is the interchange for I-96 & Wixom Road, fairly similar to a closer to home relatively recent redesign for I-94 & Telegraph Road. Both of these complex intersections control the flow of traffic w/ judicious use of signals including multiple lanes going on left-turn only signals.
When the Telegraph Road and Interstate 94 interchange was built in the 1950’s, it featured confusing-and dangerous-left-hand exits and entrances, plus a larger-than-normal, tree-filled median. In 2003, it was replaced with a Single-Point Urban Interchange, the anchor being the two bridges carrying I-94 itself, officially referred to as the Gateway Bridge. As this occurred shortly before Super Bowl XL was held in Detroit in February 2006, the bridges were designed to give visitors an impressive sight as they traveled from Metro Airport to Ford Field. However, to this date, the marks left behind by the relocation of I-94 and the interchange ramps are still visible to the south of the current interchange.

Yikes. I’ve only ever encountered the roundabouts that have 2 lanes in them & as long as there’s not much traffic they are pretty efficient in my experience. If there is a lot of traffic the more aggressive drivers don’t seem to honor the Yield signs so it can be a bit dicey.
I am guessing it’s a SPUI (single point urban interchange) where the interstate ramps are cocked at an angle so that left turns from off ramps don’t cross each other as they do on a diamond interchange.
EDIT: Valerie’s response has been extended with a lot of info about a particular interchange…and it turns out my guess was right; it’s a SPUI.
The crazy number of lights cocked at all sorts of odd angles is a dead giveaway. That’s what you get when the SPUI is above the freeway. When its below the freeway the freeway bridge blocks the view of a lot of the mess.
I think they technically cross each other physically but just not temporally due to the traffic lights, at least if they are working properly.
A properly done SPUI allows both left turns to happen at the same time. That’s true of the three in Colorado Springs. That’s the whole point of the setup, to prevent traffic doing left turns from intersecting. In a diamond intersection they intersect and so they have to put a double traffic light with a short block under (or over) the freeway. (And sometimes that block fills up from people exiting the freeway.)
What you are describing is a bit different from what these ones in MI appear to be. Ours traverse the same pavement in the very middle, at least partially. The Telegraph Road & I-94 interchange with which I’m most familiar has 3 light sequences. T-S to 94-E left turns simultaneously with T-N to 94-W. 94-E to T-N left turns are simultaneous with 94-W to T-S. Then the normal T-S & T-N direct traffic flow signal. Right turns from 94-E to T-S & 94-W to T-N can be completed at will, but I think there is a yield to the T-N lanes & maybe a light for the T-S one. This might be revealed by the slightly different angles from those exit ramps merging onto the surface street.
No, I am guessing I wasn’t clear. You have pairs of left turns completing simultaneously, which is the way it should work. I guess you thought I was saying all four possible lefts happened at the same time; that wasn’t what I was trying to say.
The crossing I complained about with a conventional interchange would be like this: T-N and T-S making their lefts to 94 W and 94 E respectively, would have to pass each each other on the bridge before making the turns. There would be two traffic lights on Telegraph Road, someone making a left onto the interstate has to go through the first light and make a left at the second, and would likely have to stop and wait after the first light because they actually cross the oncoming traffic, also wanting to make a left. There are multiple ways to sequence the lights here, but none of them allow both directions of Telegraph Road to make completely unimpeded lefts at the same time; if lefts are being made at the same time, the first traffic light in each direction has to be red. A SPUI avoids all that. (And similarly for I-94 offramps turning left; they can both do it at the same time without having a red traffic light hit them immediately on the bridge over the interstate, because the two pathways don’t cross each other.)
In the interchange I described above the lefts occur simultaneously in 2 directions, though these are Under the I-94 highway. It’s either 2 or 3 lanes that turn simultaneously & the farthest right turning lanes from both directions would be passing each other by just a few feet, as in if either includes straying vehicles by too far they could cause head-on collisions.
There is an interchange near Ann Arbor that I’ve taken countless times because it’s the most direct route to the U of M hospital. That is a typical cloverleaf one with US-23 passing above I-94. In it cars crisscross each other from entrance & exit ramps to/from I-94.
Also at US-23 I-94 transitions from 2 lanes each direction to the West to 3 lanes each direction to the East. Ann Arbor to Jackson has Way less traffic than Ann Arbor to Detroit, as one might imagine.
Depending on the time of day, dealing with the crisscrossing traffic over I-94 can be a big pain but it usually moves without complete stops with the right lane being, generally at a much slower speed, than the left lane. At the Telegraph I-94 interchange it can be quite a Long Wait, depending on when in the light cycle you first hit that intersection…sigh…One time early on after the re-design, we were waiting at the Telegraph-S to go on 94-E for 3 light cycles where our left turn lanes Never got a green before we decided to run that red light rather than spend the rest of the night hoping it might Eventually change. That was a fairly annoying glitch & scary to boot. I don’t know if some of the other lanes were also stuck on red but we ended up treating it kind of like a 4-way stop scenario, like when power is completely out & traffic needs to find a way to safely move itself.
That crisscrossing you refer to is “weaving” to traffic engineers and nowadays they try to avoid it, sometimes to the point where they will build an onramp so far it actually passes the next exit (with which it would weave.
The first SPUI I ever saw was Garden of the Gods road and I-25 (Exit 146) in Colorado Springs. Thery changed that to a SPUI decades ago. The other two I deal with on a near-daily basis are both owned by the City of Colorado Springs, where they reworked two very bad intersections into interchanges (Union and Austin Bluffs, with the latter being the “freeway” that has no lights at the interchange) and Academy and Woodmen (with the former being the “freeway”) They work well, both routes handle a ton more traffic without backing up half a mile like they used to. I was talking to a city council candidate (who was some sort of civil engineer) before these were built and he derided them as, “you’ll just get to the next light faster” but the “next” light is a side street that doesn’t have a super-long cycle, so at least traffic won’t back up nest to them, so he was correct technically but in fact traffic flows a lot more smoothly.
Austin Bluffs, by the way, becomes Garden of the Gods road, so if you drive that route, you get to experience a SPUI both as they are on the freeway (AB&Union), and as they are off the freeway (GoG and I-25).
Woodmen and Academy is where the “Freeway” goes under the cross street, and the forest of light poles at weird angles is EXACTLY what your first picture looked like and how I recognized it. With great care the mess can be rendered less confusing to drivers by shielding lights so you don’t see anyone else’s in spite of them being at nearly the same angles, but when you’re looking at the poles during construction and before they activate the lights it’s a crazy mess you can’t figure out.
We must have experienced your Garden of the Gods scenario when we were out there nearly 2 decades ago now, but I don’t recall. It’s wild what can be done to streamline the movement of Many people & vehicles in high congestion areas.
We were at a grad party NW of Metro Detroit today & not far from Hubby’s work base so he drove us by his company afterward. They are based in a more rural area & a number of the intersections had roundabouts which seemed to keep that traffic moving quite nicely compared to lights or even stop signs.
It’s possible to get to the park without driving GOG road so maybe not.
We were coming from Broomfield, & also returning there at that time, if that helps. We probably took highways when they were available but I don’t recall. We were following our friends on that round trip. Our kids LOVED Garden of the Gods too!!! So Beautiful!

Fixing to get cleaned up and loaded up to do to the Village – 9 nights and 10 full days straight care for Sally Q – solo – because her aide will be on vacation as usual, the 1st week in July. She’s been pretty volatile the last several day because of this. Even worked herself into an Atrial Fibrillation state. Her Dad was in tears when he called to report this last night.
I’m standing in the need of prayer and GOD’s strength and wisdom….definitely need it.
Ongoing prayers for both Sally Q and yourself. You are strong AND have the stamina!
God be with you & give you strength, peace, rest, comfort, patience, stamina, & even joy in the midst of it all. PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. Heavenly Father, we come in agreement in Jesus Name, on behalf of our rightful president, Your David. We THANK YOU for selecting him and making Your selection known through many of Your prophets. THANK YOU for Your Hand upon him. THANK YOU for Your Protection over him and his family. THANK YOU for speaking to Him through Your prophet, Julie. We come into alignment with Your words to him.

Obama’s plan, probably cooked up in CIA, is brilliant, and shows the patience of a hard-core communist cabal that plans long and hard.
They picked Biden and Harris early on, with succession in mind. Both are weak, stupid, and puppets to Obama’s (and his old regime’s) suggestions. By staying with those two, and going for re-election, there are very few uncertainties in the plan. CIA has likely gamed it out with supercomputers, too. Based on the fact that the same race WORKED in 2020, they know they can do it again – and I’m sure AI and game theory are telling them the same thing – stick with what works.
The plan allows them to shift from “pro-Biden” to “anti-Trump” as needed, and that is what they will do. SCARE the Dems about Trump to get more and more money. Cheat like hell.
The rules are built around the possibility that the presidential candidate goes down and the VP runs instead. ALL of that works in favor of Obama keeping control, which is HIS motivation to follow the CIA and cabal directives.

On average, State Farm General is hoping to raise rates 30% for homeowners, 36% for condo owners and 52% for renters, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
“State Farm General’s latest rate filings raise serious questions about its financial condition,” Ricardo Lara, California’s insurance commissioner, told the Los Angeles Times in a statement. “This has the potential to affect millions of California consumers and the integrity of our residential property insurance market.”
Lara also told the Times that his department would use all of its “investigatory tools to get to the bottom of State Farm’s financial situation.”
KTLA couldn’t access the documents due to website maintenance.
“State Farm General Insurance Company (‘State Farm General’) is working toward its long-term sustainability in California. Rate changes are driven by increased costs and risk and are necessary for State Farm General to deliver on the promises the company makes every day to its customers,” Gina Morss-Fischer, a company spokesperson, said in a statement.
“We continue to look for ways to maintain competitive rates and help our customers manage their risk. Rate filings are not final until approved by the California Department of Insurance. Customers with questions are encouraged to speak with their local State Farm agent.”
The potential rate increases from State Farm comes after the company announced in March plans to non-renew 72,000 policies in California.
Last year, the company announced it would stop accepting new insurance applications for all business and personal property in California.

I was able to see it for a time since I worked for Cali based banks for about ten years although I was home based here in east TN. One bank I worked with in Temecula went bankrupt a half dozen years after I left during the debt market collapse of 2008 (Great Recession). They went insane financing the very explosion of real estate development projects you describe. I traveled from Truckee to San Diego and would go to meetings out there frequently. Saw what you are referencing back in those days.
The governing authorities are in on it. They make money off the over expansion – invest and make deals where they know the areas will be expanding into. I found that some of the building and code inspectors were on the take at times as well and do quid pro quo buddy deals. Local governments smell increased tax revenues without actually planning sufficient infrastructure and the repercussions of what happens when things are not good. They make the developers pay impact fees without actually investing the money dollar for dollar back into the infrastructure.
The same planned train wreck has been staged again almost two decades after the last one. It is a system. The economy craters due to government spending and inflation causing the market bubbles to pop. Down goes real estate with all of the defaults, vacancies and vacant storefronts. The banks fall with it since they have large concentrations in residential development/construction and commercial real estate financing. The ripples of trouble hit the stock market. The investment banks take big hits as securitizations die with the buyers pulling back as they convert a lot of their holdings to cash to take advantage of the bottom feeder prices in real estate that will be coming. Consumer debt tanks as people stop paying their credit cards first before moving on to car loans becoming delinquent. Unemployment kicks up significantly higher and households that have leveraged based on two incomes have to choose the bills to pay. That’s when the mortgage crisis hits.
We are well along in this process. We have one shot to pull out of it and that is PDT taking over.
The difference this time around the politicians in DC and Wall Street will not be ripping off investors like the Saudis, Chinazis, etc. by printing money to get out of it. They won’t be fooled again and BRICS+ is the proof. The Fed pulling back from rate decreases is another clue. They smell inflation is about to pop the fake economy created by supporting the proxy war in Ukraine.

I also find it confusing. Some theories make it seem that all of the Left is on the same page and are all dialed in to the same degree, but I’m not sure that’s always the case. I think some in the media were genuinely stunned last night and are reacting to what they saw. They might have been given “leave” to be honest about it, or maybe they didn’t receive instructions about it and are showing their genuine reactions. IMO it would look highly suspicious if every media person acted as if they didn’t see what the public saw, and if they made up excuses for JB.
This will use FEAR to make all these people circle the wagons, to save America from Trump.

I don’t know where you were watching the debate but I was watching it on X but I also had Fox on the TV. Often when Trump was commenting on the prior question, CNN would have a blurb at the bottom of the screen about the actual question he was supposed to be answering. These questions did not appear on the FOX simul-cast.
The rebukes were there but most Trump supporters were probably not watching CNN.
I was listening, but not watching every second but I don’t recall seeing any for questions at the bottom for Biden.

I strongly believe there are two factions fighting for control of the Democratic Party. The Obama Faction and the Clinton Faction. I believe this has been going on ever since Barack stepped in and “stole” the presidency from Hillary Her Turn in 2008.
The Obama faction, the people currently running the country, are firmly sticking behind their meat puppet Joe. If Joe drops out they lose control of the party to the Clintons.

I’m skeptical of the handheld pointer type, as opposed to a coil that you put near the ground. Typically, proximity is a big deal, and having something in your hand is always going to be a ways away from the ground.
