About 25 years ago or so The New Yorker ran a story on Golden Gate Bridge, and specifically about the people who use it to jump off.
I do not remember the details but I remember the most striking fact in the story.
Hundreds (thousands?) of people have successfully killed themselves by jumping off the bridge. A dozen or so have survived the plunge.
Those people were interviewed and they ALL said the SAME thing: “As soon as my feet left the bridge I was overwhelmed by the desire to live.”

My Dad was held up at gunpoint when I was a teen. Put on his knees with a gun to his head. He begged for his life, telling them (there were three) that he had daughters and a wife. I’ll be interested to find out just how far SCOTUS’ Trump v. United States (“Presidential Immunity”) decision can be pushed. The case took official note of the clause that says, “The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America.” [Article II, Section 1] For the record, that’s one person.
Taken logically, this means that each and every member of the Executive Branch is 100% fully dependent on the POTUS…..meaning, among other things, that he could fire the lot — regardless of any “civil service protections” enacted subsequent to the Consitution. If Congress wants these employees to have continued employment, they could hire them into the Legislative Branch to draft statutes.
We’ll have to see how it fills in, but this last SCOTUS term may be remembered as something like this for the permanent bureaucracy —

By all accounts yes these putzes didn’t air Monday morning.
Where we left off last night late at the end of our Monday thread was with some tweets from a CBS reporter Olivia Rinaldi and a live blog from CBS.
The way this news is presented is rather disjointed with mish mash of information crammed together. It certainly does not read like a cohesive piece but it is telling a very strange story of what occurred in Butler PA. By all means read it yourself but your going to have to keep plowing through it to get to the salient parts as it is disjointed IMO or maybe I don’t understand modern writing.
For the above reason I’m going to provide the basic out line.
In the building that Crooks fired from were 3 local police department snipers inside the same building Crooks fired from. They had visual contact with Crooks two to three times as Crooks sat outside the building fiddling with a range finder. At one point Crooks left but returned minutes later carrying a bag. Shortly after the police sniper team went outside after being alerted someone had gone up on the roof. When they went out and looked up onto the roof is when the cop looking got faced off by Crooks with Crook’s rifle turning on him. The cop dropped to the ground and before they could get back up on the roof, Crooks was already firing at the President, approximately 8 shots.
Now we switch over to the Snipers we’ve all been seeing with vids and pictures. That sniper team never got off a shot apparently. The ones that shot Crooks were on the roof of the other building next to theirs. They were covering the other side of the venue but readjusted when Crooks started shooting and engaged after the other team failed to engage and it is them that killed Crooks with one shot.

Other source showing the other SS Sniper team engaging Crooks
In the above video you see Trump is still talking before the shooting. You also see the SS sniper team is already deployed from their primary sector of fire to their secondary sector of fire which means two things. Both sniper teams on both roofs knew about the threat before Crooks fired. For what ever reason the closest SS sniper team did not take a shot so the other team took it for them.
Here’s some conversation from the tweet in case you can’t read it. Some disambiguation on if it was this team or one much farther away then these two teams. These two are 120m and about 180m away and they are talking about another team about 400 plus meters away. Which is still close for well trained snipers given their gear.
Fascinating stuff. I’m starting to think that the audio may support this. If ALL the early shots were from Crooks, having similar delays on the barrel blast, then the single shot at 24 seconds, which shows no doubling, may have been directly in front of the people recording the video I was using, and the sound was a singlet.
That would mean that the statements that the SS returned fire in 3 seconds are WRONG.
How many rounds did the perp fire, 3-6? If the snipers returned fire in three seconds, I am not convinced the perp could have taken that many shots. So the return fire at three seconds doesn’t hold up IMO.
I believe Crooks got off 6-7 shots from listening to the sounds as well as from professional opinions that have been posted in social media.
We will never be given the transparent truth as long as the DS is still in control.

So let’s call the Snipers we’ve all seen in the vids and pictures ‘Sniper Team A’, and the ones who actually shot Crooks ‘Sniper Team B’.
They’re all on the same radio channel, and they all have to be talking about the guy they can plainly see on the roof, with a rifle aimed at DJT, from about 130 yards away.
Sniper Team ‘A’ refuses to engage, for whatever reason.
Sniper Team ‘B’ leaves their primary focus direction, reorients toward the threat.
Assassin fires, but Sniper Team ‘A’ remains frozen. Won’t return fire. Won’t engage. Total failure.
After 8 shots are fired at DJT, and Sniper Team ‘A’ is still unresponsive, Sniper Team ‘B’ eliminates the assassin with one shot.
That’s going to be some kind of after-incident report.

Not buying that for a second.
In order for the shooter to aim at DJT he has to have both the rifle and at least the top half of his HEAD (from the eyes upward) above the ridge of the roof.
The assassin has to be able to see over the ridge of the roof, and his rifle has to be over the ridge of the roof, in order for him to see, aim and fire at anything on the other side of the ridge of the roof.
And he can’t do that without the rifle and the top half of his head being exposed.
A professional sniper only needs to see the top of the assassin’s scalp to take him out.
AND if they were so terrified of injuring an innocent person who was inexplicably shooting at the once and future POTUS (as some claims have been made), they could have fired on the assassin’s weapon itself and disabled it, or blown it out of the assassin’s hands.

What you don’t do is let an assassin take 8 shots at your protectee without returning fire.
It would be better to go full automatic, and spray and pray (or at least lay down suppressive fire, to interrupt the assassin and make him take cover), before letting the assassin get 8 shots off.
And if you see the assassin before he shoots, you definitely don’t let him take a single shot, because there IS NO GREATER RISK than the protectee being shot.
There just isn’t one. The protectee being shot is the worst possible outcome there can be. That means any other outcome is preferable.
That includes potentially shooting an ‘innocent’ person who, for some reason, is aiming a rifle and firing at your protectee… 🙄

I wouldn’t worry about that at all, if I was one of the SS snipers.
If the assassin was standing in between two people, a professional sniper could take him out with one shot, ten times out of ten, without touching the people on either side of the target.
From a lot further away than 130 yards.
So the local cops inside the building were in zero danger, and since they are all on the same secured radio channels, they’re all aware of the situation anyway.
Why they remained in the building, when everyone in security must have known for at least 5 minutes that the assassin was on the roof, is yet another question that needs to be answered.
Were they told to remain in the building, to give their fellow snipers a plausible excuse not to fire at the building?
That’s not gonna fly. Professional snipers aren’t people who couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn. They could hit an assassin on the roof all day long, and never endanger anyone inside the building.
Yep. Suppression fire was called for if they didn’t have a clear shot. Meanwhile shooting into the peak of the roof would likely worked as well as the rounds would easily penetrate through such.

I’ve been thinking about the “Never Trump” label on J.D. Vance and some others who are now in the Trump camp.

I was a moron when I was young. I voted for Bill Clinton, twice (don’t hate on me now!). But I got older and gained life experience and wisdom, and became a staunch Conservative. I wouldn’t vote for a Demoncrat for a million dollars and a lifetime supply of chef-prepared ribeyes! (Although I would be tempted; what red-blooded American meat-eater wouldn’t be?)
J.D. Vance is only thirty-nine years old. I’m sure that the years between 30 and 39 were years of gaining maturity for a lot of us.
I’ve decided to give Vance the grace to believe in his maturity and change of mind and heart, until he proves me wrong.

JBJD is how resolute and principled he has been since the realization he was wrong. In his words he made the choice intellectually as well as spiritually. He thought it through.
3) PDT trusts him to the point of making him VP with a leg up on POTUS in 4 years. After what happened with Traitor Pence, that’s a BIG deal. They are like minded on all of the major issues.

JD is definitely in sync with Trump on the deep, complex issues. One of the reasons “old JD” didn’t like Trump, is that he thought Trump wasn’t a man of his word, who would fulfill his stated agenda. He thought Trump was a poser. JD was quick to admit that he was wrong about that, too.
One of the problems for JD has been that his rise before politics involved a significant amount of “grooming” by the establishment. All authors basically have to buy into the publishing and public literary consumer viewpoint of their work, no matter what that is. The left was fairly kind to JD as a representative of a victim class they wanted to “understand” and then groom for political power, much like they have done with American Indians. JD was hosted and feted by a significant number of the leftist cognoscenti and the political nomenklatura. It’s no surprise that ROMNEY crept in, like the neighborhood raccoon looking for cat food.
I think JD figured out who actually wants to help Appalachia survive and thrive, and who just wants those people in a fentanyl-cushioned box.

I agree with your comments. IMO Vance’s humility in giving Trump the credit for his 2022 win through his endorsement is a strong indication that he is humble and grounded. He also has admitted some of the things you mentioned: that he was wrong, that his perspective has changed, etc. Someone who has thought things through and come to their own conclusions can be stronger in their convictions than those who are just going along with a group. I will be watching him with a great deal of hope that he stays on course and doesn’t let Trump, or us, down.

Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. It Gets Worse – Three Security Detail Snipers Were Inside Building Used by Trump Shooter – Secret Service Director Says Roof Was too Slopey for Sniper Safety
It was odd on that first night when Joe Biden announced the FBI would be investigating the assassination attempt of Donald Trump, only a few hours after the failed shooting. How did the people around Biden immediately know something went wrong?
Then things got even more sketchy when police reported the assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was spotted and photographed acting suspiciously 30 minutes before the attempted assassination. Unfortunately, they “lost track” of him.
To the commonsense observer, Crooks had to be wandering around the venue for quite a while. I mean, the scheduled start time for the speech was originally 5:00pm, yet President Trump didn’t get started until an hour later 6pm. Obviously, Thomas Crooks would have been doing something for an hour while he waited. What was it?
The sense of something sketchy increased exponentially with all the subsequent updates about the police backing down from the roof when the assassin pointed his gun at them. Especially when considering the lack of Secret Service removing President Trump from the known kill box, and the crowd yelling at law enforcement while Crooks was getting into position, a mere 400 feet from Trump.
Then we find out that multinational media conglomerate Blackrock, just coincidentally used Thomas Crooks in one of their PR ads. To top off the suspicious nature of the networks, Blackrock executives are literally in the White House guiding Joe Biden (see the Donilon family). However, even Suspicious Cat could not make up what comes next.
According to the latest CBS report, Thomas Crooks was spotted by a three-man sniper security detail. Crooks was seen using a range finder to view the stage where President Trump was soon to arrive. Then Crooks climbed onto the building that was housing the security detail and it was from that position he fired nine shots at President Trump, taking off part of his right ear.
Folks, we are not suspicious enough about this entire set of events.

The operations plan had them stationed inside the building looking out windows toward the Trump rally. The information about the three snipers being inside the building was first reported by BeaverCountian.com.
One of the snipers inside saw Thomas Matthew Crooks outside and looking up at the roof, observing the building and disappearing, a local law enforcement officer tells CBS News.
Crooks came back, sat down and looked at his phone. At that point, one of the snipers took a picture of him. Crooks took out a rangefinder and the sniper radioed to the command post. Crooks disappeared again and then came back a third time with a backpack. The snipers called in with information that he had a backpack and said he was walking towards the back of the building.
Officers believe that Crooks might have used an air conditioning unit to get on top of the roof.
By the time other officers came for backup, he had climbed on top of the building and was positioned above and behind the snipers inside the building, the officer said. (read more)

When justifying why the Counter Snipers were not positioned on the roof, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle said Secret Service officials planning security for Trump’s rally considered the warehouse 147 yards away from where Trump spoke to be a risky position for stationing an agent.
Apparently, the Secret Service agent in charged deemed the roof slope too much of a safety hazard to transverse.
The roof atop the security counter-snipers was deemed too sloped for safe positioning. The roof behind President Trump was not.
We are not being suspicious enough.

That is the chart that Trump was referring to, so he was standing to its left, looking to his right to refer to it. So it appears that those shots came from behind that whole area, not from in front of Trump and the crowd.
I can’t comment on the timing, but the shot that hit the railing and the shot that hit the person appear to have happened very close in time, almost simultaneously. But now I’m wondering exactly where Trump was standing from that angle and why the shots were so far off the mark if he was the mark.

I’m totally confused. The John Cullen video appears to show shots hitting the two people, as well as the railing, in the section of bleachers that contained the graphic that Trump was referring to. I’m guessing that graphic was to Trump’s right because he turned to the right. But that doesn’t match what the pic above shows. According to it, the two people who were injured would have been to Trump’s left.
Alternatively, if the person who was struck in the John Cullen video was Corey Comperatore, it would make more sense because he was located to the right of Trump. But I don’t think that’s the case because it has been reported that Mr. Comperatore got down and shielded his wife and daughter and then was shot, not that he was struck and then went down.
Maybe the graphic was shown on several Jumbotrons, and Trump was just referring to the one on the right because that was convenient for him?
Looking more closely at the graphic, I think I see a Jumbotron on each side.
Not sure. Sounds like Cullen made his analysis early and does not mention the second SS sniper position. Also he charges for the full answers so there is that. Additionally he draws the second shooters line of site further to the North of where the water tower is which I don’t see anything near or far but trees for the a possible sniping position and it would have to be very tall trees to clear the roofs.
I’ll remain flexible between the one shooter vs two shooter theory till I hear more.

Some of this we have already heard. According to this report, the SS says it was not responsible for the rooftop where the shooter was because it was outside their perimeter. I call complete 🐂💩on that. There should be no outside perimeter for the SS. They should be overseeing everything.
The Butler police also say they were not responsible for that rooftop but that another local law enforcement agency was. The reporter does not know which agency that was. She says there were four cops. One of them got hoisted to the roof, looked the shooter in the eye, had a gun pointed at him, and dropped 8 feet to the ground. Because he was hanging on to the side of the building, he was not able to pull a weapon to engage the shooter and could not notify anyone.
So when the officers heard reports of a person on the roof from the rally attendees, instead of standing with the attendees and letting them show them where the guy was, they decided to peek over the side of the roof with no ladder, no ability to engage the shooter, and apparently no plan. It’s unbelievable.
Do you think all these agencies and the SS had any in-depth planning meetings, a coordinated chain of command or did they wing it?
Also, in an article one of the snipers watching him said that he was using his phone. Didn’t say talking on it but I wonder what a young guy about to murder someone amuses himself with on the phone?

We tore the whole thing out, dug the hole again, laid in the rebar, had everything inspected, then poured the concrete. This one lasted about the same length of time, and the building inspector told us to do it over again.
So we dug it out, put in the rebar, had everything inspected…..and as soon as the inspector’s tail-lights were out of sight….we pulled out the rebar, dug the hole eight inches deeper, and put in a second layer of rebar four inches below the first (which we put back). The next morning, we poured it (used about twice as much concrete). This was technically very illegal — and, some day in the far future, someone will be hired to remove that driveway and be very, very, very surprised. But I have no regrets.

Maybe Ms. Cheeto was not read in on the plot that day but was following orders that facilitated trying to get Trump killed. I think it’s Crooks. The eyebrows are different. Crooks had an even longer chin that Yearick, consistent with the dead guy’s. Crooks nose is flatter and broader at the tip.
Crooks’ parents have been talking with police. Why would they be in on a plot to make their son seem like the shooter if he wasn’t?
IF their son is missing presumed dead in a morgue they wouldn’t be in on the plot, they’d be more victims of the plot. Where their son is if that wasn’t him shot dead?

Pittsburgh Trump protesters sentenced to jail time. Two Pitssburgh men who pleaded guilt in connection with a police altercation during an anti-Trump protest almost a year ago have been sentenced to three to 12 months in the Allegheny County jail.
Kennon Hooper, 32, of West Oakland, and Maxwell Yearick, 30 of Perry South, both pleaded guilty Monday to simple assault and resisting arrest. As part of their plea agreements, charges of aggravated assault were withdrawn.
July 13, 2024 – The gunman who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump Saturday was identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, [unnamed] sources told The Post. It was later reported that this identification was made via DNA.
July 14, 2024 – the Butler Police Department has announced the arrest of the suspect involved in the shooting incident targeting former President Trump. The alleged shooter has been identified as Mark Violets, who is reported to be a member of the Antifa group. Prior to the shooting, Violets posted a video on YouTube in which he ominously declared that “justice is coming.”
If one looks at the shooting maps that have been put out….three individuals were shot.
One individual was standing by the bottom steps on Trumps right side. Two individuals were shot in the upper levels of the bleachers to the left and behind President Trump’s left side.
Comperatore, Murphy & Copenhaver. We’re being informed that the shooter fired his shots within 2 seconds, however I question that. The first shot hit the top row bleacher seats….the shooter would have then had to swing and lower the rifle, draw a bead and fire to take out the individual in the bottom right level. Was this Comperatore?? Or was Comperatore & Murphy in the top rows and Copenhaver was the one standing on the bottom right level?.
I myself think that Yearick fits the age and Antifa background that makes me consider strongly that Roger Stone’s source is correct and that Thomas Matthew Crooksm 20, either doesn’t exist or he was a patsy and there is another shooter walking around.
