The way chip components are mounted to printed circuit boards is that a screen is placed over the board, some “solder paste” is pressed through the screen to make “solder pads”, then the components are “pick-and-placed” onto the pads, then the boards with the components is run through an IR (infrared) oven that heats the top of the board to where the solder paste melts and the components get stuck to the board.
Chip capacitors are made with conductive layers stuck together with a non-conductive dielectric film between them. It’s almost like when you riffle-shuffle a deck, but don’t square off the result. Half the layers end in your right hand, and half end in your left hand, but the bulk of the deck alternates in the middle.
Unfortunately, when you heat the top of this sandwich, your chip caps have a tendency to delaminate — several layers will peel off the top, or there will be a horizontal crack in the middle. Oftentimes, you’d need a microscope to see it.
And, in the late 80’s/early 90’s, this was one of the top causes of board failure at our company. We eventually went with a single manufacturer of chip caps that delaminated at less than half the rate of other brands….but still failed too often.
So the donkey party mystery is solved – they’re delaminating.

I think we will. DeWine and the machine are partial to Matt Dolan, and he’s a solid conservative, IMO. Statements that he’s a RINO tend to come from the goofier anti-establishment end, who fight over stupid stuff, and never have any chance of winning. There’s also Jane Timken – she’s solid MAGA, loves Trump, and is tight with the big bucks crowd. She would be excellent. Frank LaRose, too. There are too many good choices. DeWine can easily pick somebody who makes almost everybody happy. Worst case would be if he picks Kasich, who I will bet is lobbying hard for the seat. That would be a huge mistake.

We have to be careful here – this much wobble in the Senate seats is always risky. Ohio had years of bad stability, with Portman / Brown (“RINO and No-Show”) making a balanced but ineffective representation of Ohio’s increasingly conservative values. Portman was basically Wexner’s capitalist side’s seat in the Senate. Brown was the DNC’s shadow North Korea vote – or Wexner’s socialist side.
Vance is a huge win, so if we lose him, we have to retain the seat with somebody no worse than Portman. This is especially true if we fail to unseat Brown, who has the persistence of skunk spray. Brown is waging scorched earth lies (passing himself off as CONSERVATIVE and MAGA) to keep his seat. I hope we can get rid of him, but it’s not certain.
Sherrod Brown’s strategy (likely coming from Obama’s people) is cold Sun-Tzu logic. He knows that he will get the Dem base, but he needs independents and a few RINOs to win. Thus, he’s passing himself off as a stable, known, conservative, working-class, all-American, white, non-Hispanic incumbent, hoping to steal enough independents and RINOs to beat Bernie Moreno, all the while playing “used car salesman” against Moreno.
I think Moreno can win, but he has to make the world see how Brown has been a hard left HIDER who is now FAKING TO THE RIGHT to win. Bernie has to make Brown look like the Bill Ayers putz he is, phoning in his job for years, voting quietly like a Weather Underground radical, now hiding in the bathroom with LIES, scared of a newcomer.

Bluegrass!!! Thanks Wolf! I remember being back home when our town had a parade. My family’s friend Ernie had come to our town from Tennessee years before. He was with a small group of Masons (yes, I know how many feel about that org) on a flatbed truck playing Bluegrass music. Ernie played banjo. It was my favorite float ever. I used to call Ernie and Rosalie my uncle and aunt though we weren’t related. They had no children of their own, but had neices and nephews in town. One of their nephews was in my class from K-12. I adored Ernie and Rosalie and they were great friends of my mom and dad.
I would not know how else to speak. I have no DNA like that.

The song’s genre is southern rock which had lost some of its popularity by the late 80s when this song dropped. It features elements of country, rock, and bluegrass (which has Celtic roots with the mandolin and bagpipes).
The song comes from northeast Tennessee, the town of Elizbethton in Johnson County.
Granddaddy was a prohibition Era moonshiner. When the government went into the mountains to get his still, they became food for the feral hogs and bears.
Prohibition ended, but many southern counties stayed “dry”, where alcohol was illegal. Thus came Daddy’s calling, bootlegging, where you buy in a legal county (or make your own) and sell in a dry county at a good profit. One night he wrecked, running from police. In a vehicle full of moonshine, it would have gone off like a Roman Candle. That’s why Momma was crying.
John Lee III’s deal was growing pot, something he learned about in Vietnam. I was a teenager in this region in the 80s, and my Vietnam Vet dad taught me how to look for tripwires while hunting near corn or tobacco fields because pot growers would grow their pot in pockets hidden inside legal crop fields. Every summer the DEA and Sheriffs would team up with National Guard helicopters to fly over and find these pockets, then bring in bomb disposal to defuse traps, then burn the pot. This is what the youngest Pettimore is describing in the third part.

Song is about a moonshiner an his family in Johnson county Tennessee, there was a road named Copperhead Rd. as well, but due to this song, they had to change the name, as people kept stealing the signs. When he mentions learning a few things from Charile, Charlie was the military slang for the Viet Cong , and they were known for setting booby traps.

About the car his daddy bootlegged in when they say a shot coat of primer when you buy a old police car they usually take black paint and paint over all the badges on the car. They may have painted the whole car but when you buy one they almost always have a shot of primer over the police markings on it. Around here we called them Magoffin county Cadillacs eastern KY. That’s where they had a lot of them for sale. There’s a song called Magoffin county Cadillac by a local man. It’s pretty funny but true. Just about everyone owned one or many at one time in their lives.

They would run the cars on the moonshine, fill the gas tank with shine and go. Stay ahead of the man ’till you run out of fuel and there’s nothing left to get you on running shine for. The smell of an internal combustion engine running on alcohol is pretty unique.

One of my favorite lines is, You could smell the whiskey burning down Copper Head Road. A lot of folks don’t know that as well as moonshine being consumed to drink. When gas prices would get high those with a stockpile of high proof shine would cut their gas with it. This served two purposes one affordable fuel as well as potentially increased horsepower by running higher octane fuel. Increasing your chances of outrunning the law.

Had a friend working for the Geological Survey making maps. Got flown in and given a Govt. car to get around. No one told him to be careful. The plates tagged him as a Fed and no one asked what type. He had a few close calls and some lead lobbed at him. My dad from Kentucky had to explain to him when he came home to not accept Govt car when going into unknown backwoods areas in the South.

It could be Kentucky but I feel from things the song says it would be more West Virginia they are more know for hollers and the start of nascar. The charlie refreence is more due to the pungee sticks that the vietmense use to kill and maime us troops in vietnam. The song came out in 1988 when i was 8 years old. It was more of a rock song and wasnt a real big hit it wasnt until the early 2000s this song took a big hold and it was played more on the country stations. the beging of the song has more of a scotish match. There was a huge scotish popultaion back in the late 1800s in the south. They were seen as less of a white culture. Just like how the Irish were up in new york back in the day. If you look at bootlaging as a history look at the 1920s and the ban on all alchol. Very intresting time in all American history and your right theres a lot more in common between poor white people and black americans.

Appalachia was settled with a lot of Scottish Highlanders because the land was very similar. “Holler,” is the key to where it is based. But Moonshine was everywhere during prohibition. NASCAR is based on getting modest looking American cars that could outrun any law enforcement.

@tupelohoney622 Whiskey in Appalachia, far predates Prohibition as you noted. One of the first tax rebellions in the US was in Western PA, known as the “Whiskey Rebellion” in opposition to a tax on moonshine. It occurred during George Washington’s Presidency.
Modern-day moonshiners, are just carrying out a fine tradition that dates back centuries.

As a kid in the late 70’s me and my cousins dug up more whiskey than we could drink in our lifetimes in the woods behind our houses. Once the lady down the road decided to burn her trash full of aerosol hairspray cans and set the whole world on fire. We dug fire trenches with an old dozer and could have supplied half the state.

OK, gang. The entire east TN, eastern KY and southwestern VA area is well known for this. The shine was run from the hollars throughout all of the mountain areas that were difficult for revenuers to get into, and none of those areas were safe for them as the song Rocky Top tells you. Hillbilly justice applied to them, although the shiners had an unwritten agreement of sorts with local sheriffs. It was the Feds that were hated.
It all ran through Knoxville for decades. Which is one major reason Knoxville was named The Scruffy City by the NY Slimes. After the heyday ended, I financed the purchase of one of the original saloons that formerly served the stuff and that was built a couple hundred years before. It was located in what we know as the Old City around here. It was the original red light district.
In more recent times we had a legend shiner nearby in Cocke County, Popcorn Sutton. He never stopped making shine despite getting arrested. He taught the trade to many others. The state finally gave up on controlling it and made it legal so they could tax it. We have distilleries all over the place now. Tourists love the taste testing at all of them.

mini family report:
Saturday afternoon we hosted a family gathering to celebrate our middle son Brandon’s engagement. There were ultimately 22 people gathered, including 5 girls under age 3. We’re pretty sure this is the largest gathering we’ve ever hosted since getting married.
My husband, primarily, with assistance in small & large ways from each of our 4 kids & me a bit, did some major work in our backyard to prepare the area, making it more presentable, more functional, & more kid friendly. The kid stuff was a big help & allowed the young families the freedom to enjoy more fellowship as their daughters had multiple age-appropriate play zones to partake of.
All our kids, their spouses (except one DIL who was in Chicago w/ her family), & all our granddaughters were present, as were my parents, my brother & SIL & their oldest daughter & her 2 girls. Brandon’s fiancée & her uncle/pastor, who we’d met previously, & her parents, who we hadn’t met before, came for several hours on a whirlwind day trip between Toronto & Detroit. They had a big surprise gathering planned on Sunday with their church family in Canada where they were also to celebrate w/ B & his lady love.
The food was great & abundant w/ the fiancée’s mother having also prepared some of her ethnic specialties unexpectedly enhancing the bounty. We ended up sending leftovers home w/ everyone but my brother’s family who’d left earlier to catch a plane to Florida to help one of their girls prep for her college year coming shortly. The weather was perfect with cooler than usual temps for this time of year. We even had almost no bug issues.
My hubby had set up the PA system outside so we had several people on the mic to recount stories, prayers, & general well wishes & fond reminiscences. As the other family was preparing to leave the parents returned to pray over B’s twin Josiah & my parents for their health needs. These are godly spiritual warriors & their prayers were Holy Spirit driven & quite moving, kind of the perfect end to a celebratory gathering of Believers.
While B & his fiancée were still available to fellowship, after most people had left, we gathered around one of the tables with my parents & a couple of our kids, all the grandkids having gone home w/ at least one parent, & told lots of funny stories & had plenty of laughter is the best medicine infusions. It was especially nice to see my dad laughing to the point of tears as he’s been battling some recent pain with a flare up of gout, a new health complication. My mom is also a bit slowed down since her broken arm & has been using a cane to help w/ balance issues. They’re in their mid 80s now.
There is still some clean up to do, & we are still re-grouping energy-wise, but we are so thankful that things went as well as they did & that we were blessed in gathering for family, food, fellowship, & fun. God got us through & He’ll continue to guide Brandon & his fiancée as they eventually get down to planning their wedding, which might not start for almost a year as she is starting law school shortly & probably won’t have energy for wedding planning for a while. It’s all in God’s hands & we are thankful that all parties are comfortable in trusting Him in the small & large details of their lives. Seeing each of our four kids settled with Christian spouses is truly a great comfort & joy…Thank you Jesus!

Oh my goodness I just realized the stick figure’s body was a necktie. Reminds me of an incident at my old college. My brother also attended the same college, overlapping me by a couple of years. This was a Christian college with a dress code, dresses for gals & ties for guys. I’d heard of rumors of one of the guy’s wings having a neckties only hall meeting & mentioned it to my bro. He managed to convince his wing, called Am Herratz (Hebrew for scum of the earth, from a Bible verse) to hold such an event & I saw the photo, ties strategically covering manland. Fun memory 😉

Boeing Starliner could be junk and stuck at the Space Station permanently.
NASA has lost confidence in the safety of the Starliner due to leaks and won’t allow astronauts to return on it.
But Boeing installed software on Starliner that does not provide for automated undocking. They need a human inside of the Starliner to undock. But the problem is, there would be no way to get the astronaut back on the Space Station, the space suits are too bulky to fit thru the port.
Boeing wants to upload new software while Starliner is in space, but NASA is worried it will fail and then brick Starliner forever, thus blocking one of only two ports where Dragon and others arrive and leave from.
The two astronauts were only supposed to be on the space station for 8 days for this Starliner test flight and have now been there for 2 months. The most likely plan is for their return in February 2025 aboard a Dragon Crew capsule.
I trust NASA as much as I do the FIB or the Secret Circus.
NASA will be fine as soon as it finishes its islamist outreach program.

1) In 2008, I knew ALL KINDS of stuff about Osatan that almost none of my circle knew! I knew about his “G-d damn America pastor;” I knew about his sketchy birth certificate, his connections to Frank Marshall Davis, etc. But almost NOBODY I knew did! The information just couldn’t break out. And when I told people, they thought I was nuts.

4) Trump needs young, cool, urban “influencers,” whether that’s rappers, boxers, singers, actors, or whoever, to carry his water with the young hip “in-crowd.” WE are not them. We are old to them. Notice they are doing everything they can to make Camel-Uh seem young. She is almost exactly my age, and I am a grannie.
5) We need a REALLY, REALLY modern, simple, “cool” theme. MAGA is great for us; but the Millennials need something “hopety changey.”

If we do not participate in our community, the communists will continue to infiltrate every part of our lives. They’ve already figured this out, and even what we see as mundane, must be dealt with, with passion in Patriotism.
YOU need to be better. You need to eat better, to drink less alcohol, to watch less tv, to take care of your household, to get married, stay married, and have children. Raise them to be competent, capable, and contributing patriotic citizens to society.
Trump, is a big middle finger to the establishment, that’s true. But the real middle finger is when YOU become ungovernable. When YOU & your peers have a capable community to tell daddy govt that ALL workers, are essential workers. That all our citizens deserve freedom, and liberty, and the right to own a gun for self defense from enemies foreign AND Domestic.
The Tribe of Patriots is about building that community, that network, that inspiration to be stronger and more capable, to become a resilient society that embodies the values we wish to see in this world.
That comes with a LOT of work from you, and your peers. Trump will not save you, only you can do that.

I just went to Trump’s feed and clicked in to listen from there. It did not work for me until around 8:30 after they cleaned up from the DDOS attack. At one point, it said there were 1.3 million of us in the Spaces feed I was looking at. I imagine they had multiple rooms, each with 1 to 1.5 million.
Someone else said she was going to use her screenshot for her Christmas cards this year. So I took a screenshot of my room too.
