Just a friendly reminder Speaker Johnson. You’re doing some good things–or at least trying in the case of the budget–but this is the most important thing out there still hanging. One initial block released with the promise of more…and?
We have American patriots being held without bail and without trial, and the tapes almost certainly contain exculpatory evidence. (And if they don’t, and we’re all just yelling in an echo chamber over here, we need to know that too. And there’s only one way to know.)
Either we have a weaponized, corrupt government or we have a lot of internet charlatans. Let’s expose whatever it is. (I’m betting it’s the corrupt weaponized government, but if I am wrong, I’d like to see proof.)
Justice Must Be Done.
The prior election must be acknowledged as fraudulent, and steps must be taken to prosecute the fraudsters and restore integrity to the system.
Nothing else matters at this point. Talking about trying again in 2022 or 2024 is hopeless otherwise. Which is not to say one must never talk about this, but rather that one must account for this in ones planning; if fixing the fraud is not part of the plan, you have no plan.
Small Government?
Many times conservatives (real and fake) speak of “small government” being the goal.
This sounds good, and mostly is good, but it misses the essential point. The important thing here isn’t the size, but rather the purpose, of government. We could have a cheap, small tyranny. After all our government spends most of its revenue on payments to individuals and foreign aid, neither of which is part of the tyrannical apparatus trying to keep us locked down and censored. What parts of the government would be necessary for a tyranny? It’d be a lot smaller than what we have now. We could shrink the government and nevertheless find it more tyrannical than it is today.
No, what we want is a limited government, limited not in size, but rather in scope. Limited, that is, in what it’s allowed to do. Under current circumstances, such a government would also be much smaller, but that’s a side effect. If we were in a World War II sort of war, an existential fight against nasty dictatorships on the brink of world conquest, that would be very expensive and would require a gargantuan government, but that would be what the government should be doing. That would be a large, but still limited government, since it’d be working to protect our rights.
World War II would have been the wrong time to squawk about “small government,” but it wasn’t (and never is) a bad time to demand limited government. Today would be a better time to ask for a small government–at least the job it should be doing is small today–but it misses the essential point; we want government to not do certain things. Many of those things we don’t want it doing are expensive but many of them are quite eminently doable by a smaller government than the one we have today. Small, but still exceeding proper limits.
So be careful what you ask for. You might get it and find you asked for the wrong thing.
Political Science In Summation
It’s really just a matter of people who can’t be happy unless they control others…versus those who want to be left alone. The oldest conflict within mankind. Government is necessary, but government attracts the assholes (a highly technical term for the control freaks).
His Truth?
Again we saw an instance of “It might be true for Billy, but it’s not true for Bob” logic this week.
I hear this often, and it’s usually harmless. As when it’s describing differing circumstances, not different facts. “Housing is unaffordable” can be true for one person, but not for another who makes ten times as much.
But sometimes the speaker means it literally. Something like 2+2=4 is asserted to be true for Billy but not for Bob. (And when it’s literal, it’s usually Bob saying it.) And in that sense, it’s nonsense, dangerous nonsense. There is ONE reality, and it exists independent of our desires and our perceptions. It would go on existing if we weren’t here. We exist in it. It does not exist in our heads. It’s not a personal construct, and it isn’t a social construct. If there were no society, reality would continue to be what it is, it wouldn’t vanish…which it would have to do, if it were a social construct.
Now what can change from person to person is the perception of reality. We see that all the time. And people will, of course, act on those perceptions. They will vote for Trump (or try to) if their perception is close to mine, and vote against Trump (and certainly succeed at doing so) if their perception is distant from mine (and therefore, if I do say so, wrong). I have heard people say “perception is reality” and usually, that’s what they’re trying to say–your perception of reality is, as far as you know, an accurate representation of reality, or you’d change it.
But I really wish they’d say it differently. And sometimes, to get back to Billy and Bob, the person who says they have different truths is really saying they have different perceptions of reality–different worldviews. I can’t argue with the latter. But I sure wish they’d say it better. That way I’d know that someone who blabbers about two different truths is delusional and not worth my time, at least not until he passes kindergarten-level metaphysics on his umpteenth attempt.

i only ever got one flu shot long ago. it was the only year i got the flu (afterwards). when the doc offered me a flu shot the following year, I declined and asked him how they KNOW which flu will be most prevalent during our flu season. his sheepish look and reply (it’s an educated guess) told me all i needed to know. never got another.

Never took a flu shot and never will. The last shots I took were tetanus in the 1970s and there after. I did get all the shots to go to Europe with my Army Husband and was sick as a dog for a week or more.
Wifey stopped taking them 14-15 years or so ago when she caught the swine flu after have been vaxxed. She coughed up a white gum like substance from her lungs that you could stretch about 6 inches before it would pull apart. Yuck. That was it, she never took another. After a few years, she stopped catching the flu.
I stopped taking them 7 years ago. In the fall I would get a sinus infection a month or two after taking one. Then I would get another sinus infection or bronchitis in late February or early March. You could almost set your calendar to it. That is what I thought happened in 2020 when it really was the Wuhan.
I made arrangements with my doc back in 2010 that if I called in for a Z-Pac during our fall frolic it was due to a sinus infection and he should send a prescription to Walgreens for me to pick up at the beach in SC. That happened annually. Then I just decided the flu shot had to be involved. Stopped taking it. Stopped having the sinus infection and the infection or bronchitis in late winter .
Until COVID happened I had no more respiratory illnesses other than a light cold occasionally. Now I address all of them with IVM and life is much better.
Natural infection provides real antibodies that work. Medical science is trying to understand it while making enough money to fund the attempt, so they are lying to us about the efficacy of their products. It’s a racket.

I loved my old 1969 Chevy. I could literally climb into the engine compartment and sit on the wheel well to do maintenance on her. LOTS OF ROOM. Now an engine compartment is pack wall to wall with JUNK that breaks.
I once had an old 61 Chevy pickup that I would climb up and sit on the radiator while I did maintenance. It had a toilet paper oil filter in a can accessible from above.
Wasn’t it nice to be able to FIND and reach stuff without a lift or taking out the entire engine.

My 1994 Honda has its fuel filter mounted underneath the master brake cylinder — for a part that’s supposed to be changed every 30K miles. Requires access both above and below the car with two types of crow’s-foot sockets.

I bought it because a gal I ate lunch with had just gotten divorced and sold her truck to get the down payment on a newer vehicle. The asshole at work who had agreed to buy it, once he realized he had her over a barrel, changed the price he would pay and lowered it by a couple hundred. She was in tears. This was the SAME asshole who had deliberately run me off the road. (He had done the same to several other women at work.)
So I bought the truck as a favor to a friend and a middle finger to that nasty asshole. I never regretted the move.

Most Middies are, even those that went on to bigger things. It comes with the territory we were raised in.
As an example there is a Middie there who is still alive at age 88 who was my dad’s best friend from working together for over 30 years. He still tends to the grave of my dad some 18 years later. Christian to the core and GOP supporter. Middies are real people who care about America and doing good for others.
I could go into the history and psychology of it all there, but nobody much cares. Just know that what you see is real with JD. It never leaves you. He is quite capable of handling every situation he will be placed in during his journey.
I’m curious how history shaped the psychology of these folks. They’re between Dayton and Cincinnati, but very unlike the denizens of either. It’s as if they were in some kind of social Lagrange point – evident in the name – that rejected the things that changed the bigger cities around them.
IMO, it’s the hillbilly thing, bud. Middletown was where they could congregate together and still work the factory jobs they needed to provide for their families. If you needed something the bigger cities could provide you could get to anything in less than 90 minutes even back in the 50’s. Appalachian folks generally do not like living in urban areas. The ones that did want the urban settled more in northern KY across the river from Cincy.
Those that did not work at Armco or the other factories in town could commute into Ford, Proctor and Gamble, etc. in the Loveland area. Then come home to Middletown and a lot of the small communities around it. They did not mind the drives at all.
In general, it was a good life there. Armco really forked out the cash for what the working people needed in Middletown for their families. Great park system, infrastructure, good roads/sidewalks, well funded schools, ballfields all over, growing churches, Miami University extension, etc. It had a good hospital and medical care beyond what Armco provided all of their employees on site.
About anything a family would want could be found there without leaving except for the weekend pilgrimages back home to Kentucky and Tennessee. Known as Midtucky for good reasons. I spent some of my spare time growing up hitting the woods hunting, fishing in the creeks and small rivers, camping in the state parks, playing ball, going to live music shows at Chautauqua Park, playing tennis on the public courts, golfing at Miamisburg Mound – which is also where we would go sledding in winter, etc.

I am surprised that people are surprised. The government has pulled stuff like that in every aspect of life for centuries now. Those violated are faced with the choice of expensive lawsuits contesting it or forcing a compromise on monetary damages; knowing that the odds are stacked against them due to the corruption.
Many, many inventions, techniques, innovations, etc. are mothballed due to the predatory nature of our government.
It matters who all of the people are in the federal government, not just the POTUS. It even matters who the interns, administrative assistants and janitors are. Add in that a corrupted judiciary and too many lawyers are the bane of our existence.
Representative republic. Constitution. States’ rights. Take a meat cleaver to anything in federal government that is not enumerated.
The problem with the Constitution is our forefathers did not envision the level of corruption of so many of our citizens as well as our whole system would occur. They did not place sufficient levers of recourse for We the People to fry their azzes quickly and efficiently for abuse and criminality.
Context. It was one of the reasons she was the first to drop out of 2020 Dem primaries as Dems back then could not stand by this.

The photo evidence seems to refute the statement of Higgins, which means Higgins was steered to false evidence or is part of the cover up as controlled opposition.
I got worried about Higgins report when I read about how, since he couldn’t see “how” there could be anyone on the water tower, our eyes were lying when we saw it on video.

My read of Higgins’ statement on the water tower is that it’s not needed to explain any of the shots, and that all of the acoustic evidence rules out ANY shot having come from the water tower. I agree with that. I think there may very well have been somebody up on there. I just don’t think any shot came from there.

My lead candidate for blood in the bathroom was the officer who tried to get over the edge of the roof and dropped down hastily. He is said to have needed stitches. That even fits the timing of the blood in the bathroom which was discovered later.

(You even see his hands) then he drops down AND RUNS TO HIS CAR, he is so upset, he has trouble opening the door (Electronic) then grabs his rifle and puts it together. Yes, but all the theory needs is for him to have been witnessed going into the bathroom before the blood there was noted. AND that could easily be on his body cam, if it was not turned off before then.
Still the most likely theory, IMO, unless blood in the bathroom was documented BEFORE he (presumably) went in there.
They had to break in to the building where they found the blood. So it does not make sense that he walzed in and washed the blood off BEFORE his fellow LEOs broke in.

For most of our history, SCOTUS presented a picture of collegiality. One time it failed was during the session that produced Dred Scott v Sandford, which led directly to the Civil War. CJ Roberts prizes collegiality above almost any other consideration. Ergo, associate justices have “permission” to switch sides in order to prevent ideological cleavage in the court. Keep in mind that the justices have 24 hour security protection details [U.S. Marshals] and that the lunatics are still picketing their residences [a federal felony that DoJ refuses to prosecute].
Justices should be arguing, but only about the Constitution, and what its wording means for the cases in front of them. They used to do that, and politics was not so involved.
Now leftists are essentially rabid. It’s difficult to be collegial with a rabid animal.
I know literally nothing about this, but I have seen at times that when a justice rules the “wrong” way, there is often a legal reason or it is because of some point of law or consequence (whether we agree with it or not). It has been said that the shooters gun was hit by a bullet and damaged and debris from that injured the shooter.
1- Will that stop them from test firing it to match the microscopic imprints on the base of the cartridge casing to the ones allegedly found on the roof.
2- Are they allowed to repair the gun to do such tests, or must evidence be kept exactly as it was found.
3- What is the generally accepted routine for keeping guns that are used as evidence apart from unloading them. Are they left dirty as found or cleaned and oiled etc.
4- It’s stated that the shooter was injured when his gun was hit. there is a good chance it had blood on it. Even if it was given a quick wipe over there’s a good chance there will still be some dried on in the various nooks and crannies.
If there is some left it can be DNA tested maybe for a match with his parents.
On the other hand if it has been scrupulously cleaned so non can be found at all
that would be suspicious.

That’s a head scratcher, I’ve been reading the same reports all over the place, but what sense does it make. Why do they need a dirty bomb when the places they’re aiming at have spent fuel that only needs hitting with a normal bomb.
If there is contamination there whether by a dirty bomb or escaping fuel the world will know it was done by Ukrato, to blame the RF would be as nonsensical as when they laughably tried to say the RF blew up its own gas pipeline.
Do Russian/Soviet nukes keep the spent fuel around or do they ship it elsewhere (as we should, given that with a bit of reprocessing 95% or so of the “waste” would be good fuel again)..

People need to stop overreacting about Kamala’s plan to reduce food inflation, as if it would lead to communism, mass starvation, and the end of America.
I worked in M&A in the food industry. Here’s a step-by-step summary of what would actually happen:
1. The government announces that grocery retailers aren’t allowed to raise prices.
2. Grocery stores, which operate on 1-2% net margins, can’t survive if their suppliers raise prices. So the government announces that food producers (Kraft Heinz, ConAgra, Tyson, Hormel, et. al.) also aren’t allowed to raise prices.
3. Not all grocery stores are created equal. Stores in lower-income areas make less money than those in higher-income areas, as the former disproportionately sell lower-margin prepackaged foods (“center of the store”) instead of higher-margin fresh products like meat (“perimeter of the store”). Because stores in lower-income areas aren’t able to cover overhead (remember, even if their wholesale costs are fixed, their labor, utilities, insurance, and other operating expenses aren’t fixed… yet), grocery chains start to shut them down. Food deserts in rural areas and in low-income urban areas alike become worse.
4. Meanwhile, margins for food producers are also quickly eroding. Their primary costs (ingredients, energy, and labor) aren’t fixed, and their shrinking gross profits leave less cash flow available to cover overhead, maintain facilities, and reinvest in additional production capacity.
5. Grocery chains, which have finite shelf space, start to repurpose their stores (those they didn’t have to shut down, I should say) to sell more non-price-controlled items—everything from nutrition supplements to kitchenware to apparel—and less price-controlled food products. 6. Food producers stop making products with lower margins. Grocery chain start competing with each other to secure inventory. 2 shooting incidents~
San Antonio police said there was an initial shooting around 2:15 a.m. also near the training annex. Security personnel said they heard several shots fired. After this incident, security added more armed guards as a precaution which impacted their response time to the second shooting around 4:30 a.m.

Hi Everyone. A month or so ago I mentioned that I needed to “Cowboy the Fuck Up” and get a letter written to unit owners in my condo association concerning a slate of amendments to our documents written by a conniving law firm. Well, I did that and it prompted another unit owner to do the same. We had our big meeting last week and I challenged our board on every amendment. It got ugly. Some people were uncomfortable and made nasty remarks to me and about me. Two people vocally supported me, but most sat in silence.
If not for all of you, I may not have known how to dig into facts and present them. I might not have had the courage to step up and fight. Reading here every day has taught me to be bold. In the end, every amendment was defeated. It won’t happen again, though. If just a few of us leave, there is no one to carry on. The people would rather live as sheep than engage. I will be happy to move on. I am grateful for everything I’ve learned here.

We had very disconcerting article about Condo’s in Florida seeing prices fly through the roof. Mostly due to condo owners and insurers having to raise prices because of new laws due to storm damage that required massive retrofitting of facilities. But I can imagine similar scenarios not as severe because of lack of storms but still likely detrimental to your pocket book.
